a few years ago, someone in university told me she didn't want to be friends (we had met up for coffee once) because I'm *xyz sign* and her experience has been that *xyz sign* tend to be emotional master manipulators, they like to play the victim in situations where they caused the drama. Obviously every person is entitled to whatever boundaries they want to have for friendship and dating but it's not ok to just accuse me of being a certain way on grounds of... the date I was born lol.
Like I used to think this stuff was ok as long as people didn't take it seriously, and as long as it's just "oh I'm a *xyz* that is why I'm artsy :-)" but now I honestly just want nothing at all to do with it, and I don't want to know anything about it either.
Wow, I'm so sorry you were told that. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Astrology is a form of bigotry, after all. Assuming that a whole demographic (people born in x time) share a series of personality traits, assigning those personality traits to people you've never even met because of this aprioristic belief about their demographic. It's the definition of bigotry.
In Western society, astrology is less of a problem than other discriminatory systems (racism, sexism, homotransphobia, classism, etc) because it's not as widely believed and hasn't become entrenched in the societal organization to be a systemic issue present in the social, cultural, and legal spheres and interpersonal relations that affect us everyday. (That is not the case in other places like, for example, India, where astrology might dictate who you can and cannot marry and where the victim's astrological sign has been used in court to refuse justice to women who have been raped, justifying the man who raped them because women born under certain star positions are believed to be astrologically "bringers of bad luck" and even bringers of death, so they're free game to abuse!)
So I'm not comparing it when it comes to the effects it has, but on a personal belief level it's just as discriminatory. It's as stupid to say "I don't want to be friends with this person because they were born at X time so I assume Y bad things about them" than it would be to make the judgement based on someone's gender, ethnicity, class, etc. There have already been people (in Western countries where we don't traditionally have an astrology-based oppression system) reporting discrimination for their astrological sign: I've heard experiences similar to you with that "friend", but some have even explained how they were not believed about their pain when they could have found out earlier about their illnesses and refused renting a room because the flat bans people of certain astrological signs!
It can seem like it's harmless fun, but this is what the belief is promoting. It's only a logical continuation of believing in horoscopes to start making these generalizations. It also contributes to normalizing these patterns of thought according to which it's "normal" and "truthful" to consider that whole demographic groups share the same traits (that is: bigotry; lowering our guard in front of more serious ones like racism, sexism, etc).
I don't think we should go around shaming people who talk about it, but I am certain that it is a responsibility not to contribute to spreading this form of bigotry, especially now that it's on the rise and becoming more popular among young people. For example, it goes against our interests as queer community to make space for astrology in our events (making people introduce themselves with their name and their sign, or painting astrology as some kind of radical queer thing somehow just because it's trendy??), I think we should stop promoting these beliefs in magazines, and start challenging our friends who believe in it to think of how it works (and how it prepares them for other forms of discrimination).
Idk sorry for answering with such a long text but I'm tired of seeing it rise too and I had a friend who went though that, she got really into astrology because her other friends were into it, and once that anti-scientific proof door was open she got into moon landing denialism and now she believes in conspiracy theories and it's very annoying to talk with her lol.

What are the key characteristics of a 'Manglik' according to Indian astrology?
In Indian astrology, particularly in Vedic astrology, the term "Manglik" refers to a person who has the planet Mars (Mangal) positioned prominently in their birth chart. The belief in Mangal Dosha or Manglik Dosha is based on the position of Mars and its perceived effects on marriage and relationships. Here are the key characteristics and beliefs associated with being a Manglik:
Position of Mars: A person is considered Manglik if Mars is placed in certain specific houses of the birth chart, namely the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house. However, the most commonly considered houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 8th houses.
Effects on Marriage: Mangal Dosha is believed to bring about certain challenges and obstacles in marriage and relationships. It is said to affect marital harmony, leading to potential conflicts, disagreements, and even separations or divorces.
Temperamental Nature: Individuals with Mangal Dosha are often believed to possess a fiery and temperamental nature due to the influence of Mars. They may be seen as more aggressive, assertive, or prone to anger compared to those who do not have Mangal Dosha.
Delayed Marriage: Mangal Dosha is sometimes associated with delays or obstacles in getting married. It is believed that the presence of Mangal Dosha in a person's chart may lead to difficulties in finding a suitable partner or in getting married at the desired time.
Remedies: In traditional Indian astrology, there are various remedies prescribed to mitigate the effects of Mangal Dosha. These remedies may include performing specific rituals, wearing gemstones associated with Mars (such as red coral), chanting mantras, or marrying another Manglik individual to cancel out the Dosha.
Cultural Significance: In many parts of India, Mangal Dosha is taken seriously, and it can significantly influence matchmaking and marriage decisions. Some families may prefer to match the horoscopes of prospective partners to ensure compatibility and to assess whether Mangal Dosha is present.
Modern Interpretation: While Mangal Dosha remains significant for many individuals and families adhering to traditional astrological beliefs, its importance has been questioned and debated in modern times. Some astrologers and individuals may choose not to give much weight to Mangal Dosha, focusing instead on broader factors of compatibility and personal growth within relationships.

Shadow High OCs Bio 7: Tara Rajneesh
COLOUR PALETTE: Galaxy
YEAR: Third
GENDER: Female
FOCUS: Performing Arts
STYLE: Celestial. Dazzling. Classy.
QUOTE: “The stars align for me.”
BIO: Professional triple threat (and amateur astrologist) Tara Rajneesh rules the Performing Arts scene at Shadow High and shines not just like a star, but like a whole constellation on stage. Though her creativity is unbounded and her performing choices are always bold, she can barely do anything in her day-to-day life without first consulting her horoscope. She loves to be the centre of attention, and thanks to her standout energy and eccentric personality it just kind of happens naturally. A thespian at heart, Tara has no interest in film acting, and prefers the inherent transitive quality that only the stage can offer. As for which roles she likes best, lead roles are great, and villains are even better! She’s starred in plenty of productions back in her home city of Chicago, but her dream is to play the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute at the Met.
OTHER:
-Tara’s one of those girls who has a different boyfriend every month because of some drama or another, to the great interest of Candy.
-Her parents are both from Hyderabad, India, but she was born in Chicago.
-Her age is seventeen and her sign is Sagittarius.
-She stands taller than most of her female classmates at 5’8” (without heels).
-She’s bilingual, and speaks Hindi with her parents. Although their English is already pretty good, they insisted on teaching her Hindi to preserve their culture.
-Her clothes are relatively simple, usually stretchy and form-fitting due to her practically living on stage and needing to move for blocking. This doesn’t stop Tara from accessorizing as much as possible with sparkling, glittering, star-studded bangles, necks, and hair pins.
-She gets along with Dia Mante and Glitch Crowne, bonding over music and the stage.
-Much to her classmates’ annoyance, she’ll sometimes read them their horoscopes unprompted and/or dragoon them into a tarot-reading session.
-To de-stress, she likes to go stargazing. She’s even got a telescope.
-Though she definitely gives off diva vibes, it’s mostly because she’s usually in her own head and feels every emotion at 200% at all times. By no means is she rude, snobby, or even intentionally selfish, in fact she runs a student support group on the side for classmates to gather and vent about school-related stress.
-She likes modern musicals well enough, especially dramatic ones, but her first love is opera.
-She sings coloratura soprano and is a seasoned actor, but struggled a bit with dancing.
-Despite the flack other Shadow High kids give her for it, Tara follows RH exchange student Meena Fleur on social and even trades school gossip with her. (Thanks again @sunshine7eyes)

Signs of Strong & Weak Jupiter In Horoscope
One thing to note here is that Characterstic for Strong and Weak Jupiter remains similar for Women or Man.
What is Jupiter ?
In simple terms, Respect that a person gains in society is because of Jupiter.
Jupiter represents the wisdom which can change things in life from inauspicious to auspicious.
Signs of Weak Jupiter
A person who uses his/her wisdom for their personal benefit and does not use it for the society when required, is a sign of weak Jupiter.
For example, Water Gate Scandal USA
Secret Tapes revealed that President Richard Nixon and his top advisors were involved in covering up a break-in at a Democratic National Committee office in the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C.
Ethically it was not right.
Respect which was taken years to built for the President and administration got destroyed in split of a second when the ethically wrong decision was being taken.
Sign of Strong Jupiter
A person who uses wisdom in his/her life for betterment of society is a sign of strong Jupiter.
For example, late president of India - Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Even when he was president, during the spare time he used to teach children. After his presidential tenure, when his luggage was to be moved out from Rashtrapati Bhavan, you would be amazed to know that it was mostly books.
After his death , his wealth included only few clothes ,lot of books and one flat (which he donated for the development of his village). In this case, people respect this person by their hearts and not by any fear. He is still alive in the hearts of the people of India as a dignified person even after his death.
This is the sign of Real Strong Jupiter. The respect in the society. Not by fear , but from Heart.

Some Amit Thakkar Headcanons
Since Amit is getting some much appreciated love, I decided to share some headcanons about him. Please note I really tried to research as much as I could about India, looking up as much as I could and talking to some of my colleagues who come from varying parts of India, but if I do get some things wrong, please let me know!
He is Gujarati ( Solely based on the surname Thakkar, which is commonly found in the Gujarat state in India)
Amit Thakkar is not his full name ( If we are following the naming system of the Gujarati, it would be his given name, his father's name and his surname in that order. We are missing his father's name.)
He's an Aries ( Again, if we are following the Gurajati naming traditions, his given name, Amit would respond to his Rashi, the Indian Horoscope. Amit responds to the sign Mesha, which Aries is the equivalent)
His family is wealthy and highly educated, and were able to send him to Hogwarts due to their ties to the British Raj. (New telescope aside, a clue lies within the surname. Thakkar is also a common surname found among the Lohana 'Jati' people of Western India where Gujarat is, are famed for being traders. Some of the Lohanas who manage to get an education worked for the British Raj. It is a long history, but this is as best as I can sum it up.)
He is shaken from his first adventure, but secretly he wants more. (Again, we are going back to the Thakkar surname, where it is said they are from the Kshatriya caste which is tied to warrior aristocracy. I like to believe he still got some of that in him, otherwise he wouldn't willingly enter a goblin mine)
He loves astrology as it is closely tied to his Hindu religion. (Thakkar as a surname is closely tied to Hinduism, where astrology is found under the Jyotisha, one of the six auxiliary disciplines of Hinduism, mainly used for time keeping.)
He has family in Colonial India and Africa. (Again back to the Thakkar surname, there were many Thakkars who migrated to the British African colonies like Uganda for example)
He is a polygot. (Ok this might be a bit of a stretch, but I'm just basing it around his family being traders and highly educated. India has plenty of languages, so it wouldn't surprise me if Amit had to learn Hindi, Gujarati, and English to get by, yet he still has time to learn Gobbledegook.)
Well that is all I got for now. Please let me know if there are things to add!

Vivah Panchami 2024: Significance For Marriage and Childbirth
Vivah Panchami, a festival celebrated with great honour and faith throughout India, marks the holy wedding between Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, as described in the holy epic Ramayana. This is particularly a day set aside to reflect on the holy wedding of these two idols and ask for a divine blessing of wealth, marital bliss and peace in the family. In 2024, the celebration of the festival will take place on the dates of 5th and 6th December, thus standing out as a period given to spiritual prayers and sermons, especially for couples who want to enhance their bond or grow their families.
Although the observance is well known to centre on the theme of marriage and the union of Lord Rama and Sita, there is more to it that brings glory to childless couples who want to use this opportunity to seek God's blessing for fertility and parenting. Such a day provides a rare chance to solicit the spiritual powers of Lord Rama, Sita, and other forms of the gods together with God to help realize such wishes. If a couple worships with complete devotion to Goddess Sita, they realize children's happiness as per a helpful astrological tip in child astrology.
Astrological Importance of Vivah Panchami 2024
Vivah Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of the bright fortnight (Shukla Panchami) in Margashirsha, which falls around November – December. This period is celebrated as the wedding period of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. In marriage astrology, the stars on this date align to give good opportunities for love, family, or any new initiative in a person's life.
Support from the Planets Venus and Jupiter
Vivah Panchami goes hand in hand with the characteristics of Venus and Jupiter. Venus (Shukra) is the planet of Love, Beauty, and Relationships. Jupiter (Guru) shows Wisdom, Growth, and Blessings. Firstly, Venus is the planet that deals with romance, love, beauty, and attraction towards a female or a male in a love marriage. Jupiter is related to expansion, wisdom, and spiritual growth. Their energies during Vivah Panchami are also very conducive, and it is perfect for couples looking for marriage or pregnancy, according to astrology. It is one of those periods where nature works towards nurturing love between the partners and thus bringing the joy of parenthood.

The influence of Mercury in Scorpio
Mercury will be in Scorpio on Vivah Panchami in 2024. This time of truth and growth calls for free-flowing emotions, truth, and sensitivity in relationships. Since Mars rules Scorpio, it is a time for truth and growth. It is a great time to air feelings, unleash unresolved issues, and affirm oneself in every kind of relationship, especially with partners and family members.
Effect of Venus in Capricorn:
The answer to that question is quite simple. Venus, the love and relationships planet, will be in the Capricorn sign during the date of Vivah Panchami. This period also sees Venus, where the qualities of harmony, peace and cooperation are heightened, hence making it a great time for people seeking blessings for everlasting marriage and tranquillity within their matrimony or union.
The Moon in Aquarius
In the zodiac sign of Aquarius, which Saturn rules, there will be a sense of maturity and duty in relationships during Vivah Panchami. Aquarius is known for its new ideas and sensual pleasures, making this an ideal time to look for emotional and probably financial security in marriage and family. The Moon's position is essential in horoscope matching for marriage in astrology. With the Moon positioned in Aquarius, people are able to secure their bonds with each other, and it's no wonder that it's the ideal time for couples to get married or deepen their commitment to each other.
For couples who are childless, Vivah Panchami offers a link to the best time for conceiving a child. Although many people think of this occasion purely in terms of marriages, many can appreciate the power behind the teachings and worship activities on this day and the struggle of Lord Rama and his wife Sita, who were fully devoted, passionate, and honorable.Concerning Hindu practices, it is stated that praying to Lord Rama and Goddess Sita during this special occasion will bestow them with children.
Lord Rama and Goddess Sita are revered as the supreme God and Goddess, respectively, and so getting married is the epitome of purity, affection, and grace from above. It is further stated that on the day of Vivah Panchami, couples who are able to have children will receive blessings that will ease their anxieties regarding the bearing of children and, hence, promote fertility.
Many devotees believe that on this date, the combination of Sita – who represents purity, motherhood, and nurturing aspects to the heart and soul of Rama, which reflects righteousness, protection, and strength- can make parents out of couples. For this reason, Vivah Panchami is perceived as the best day for childless couples to perform various rituals and prayers to ask for children.

How is compatibility (Guna Milan) calculated for marriage in Vedic astrology?
It is said that marriage is definitely one of the biggest decisions any human being ever makes in their lifetime, and in most cultures of the world, it is more about the union of two families than it is about two people getting tied into the nuptial bond. Though unique in traditions, the country of India still holds a pretty special place with the matching of horoscopes or kundlis for assessment decisions relating to marriage. This ancient practice, Vedic astrology, became known as Guna Milan toward determination on how well two persons might harmonize in a marital relationship. But what is Guna Milan, and how does it work? First, let us break down this intriguing concept in both an informative and easily digestible way.
What is Guna Milan?
Guna Milan is one of the techniques in Vedic Astrology used for comparing the horoscopes of the prospective bride and bridegroom with respect to compatibility in marriage. Herein, "Guna" means "good qualities or attributes," and "Milan" means "matching." Therefore, Guna Milan primarily refers to the matching of qualities between two individuals for checking their compatibility with each other.
It is based upon the Nakshatras or lunar constellations in which the moon was positioned at the time of birth of both individuals. Vedic astrology places major significance on the position of the Moon because it shows the emotional and psychological tendencies of an individual's nature.
The 36 Gunas: A Cosmic Compatibility Checklist
The process of Guna Milan uses the Ashtakoot system of assessing compatibility. "Ashta" means eight, while "Koot" means categories or points. There are thus eight categories on which the Guna Milan system rests, and each of these categories is bound by a certain number of points. All in all, the total points which can be scored in Guna Milan are 36.
Herein is an overview of these eight Koots and what each of them represents:
1. Varna (1 point): This is for spiritual compatibility and ego levels of the couple. Varna Koot compares the caste or temperament of the individuals.
2. Vashya (2 points): This determines who will have a stronger influence in the relationship and how well the couple can balance each other's strengths and weaknesses.
3. Tara (3 points): This decides the health and well-being of the couple and strength to stand by each other through all odds in life.
4. Yoni (4 points): It is for sexual compatibility and physical attraction between the couple.
5. Graha Maitri (5 points): It looks at the psychological compatibility and mutual affection between the couple based on the relationship between their ruling planets.
6. Gana (6 points): It is concerned with the character and temperament of the two partners. In all, there are three subcategories for Gana Koot: Deva, Manushya, Rakshasa. This is based on the simple assumption that people of different Ganas will be of different natures and their priorities in life may differ.
7. Bhakoot (7 points): It checks emotional compatibility; that is, the effect of the relationship on both entities' prosperity and longevity. Many consider it one of the essential parameters.
8. Nadi (8 points): This concerns health matters, mostly those issues related to offspring or progeny. It has the maximum points in Guna Milan since it also establishes the biological compatibility of both entities.
Scoring in Guna Milan
The sum of the points in these eight factors is 36. Generally, 18 or more is considered an acceptable score for marriage purposes; the higher the score, the better. Briefly, here is what different scores suggest:
- 32 to 36 Gunas: Excellent match. It is virtually finding a match made in heaven. - 25 to 31 Gunas: Very good compatibility. The couple is likely to have a harmonious relationship.
- 18 to 24 Gunas: Average compatibility. This is acceptable for marriage though some adjustments and compromises might be needed.
- Below 18 Gunas: Compatibility is considered below average and marriage may not be recommended unless there are strong compensating factors in the individual horoscopes.
Beyond the Gunas: The Bigger Picture
While Guna Milan provides a structured way to evaluate the compatibility between two individuals, one should remember that it is not everything. A good guna score does not guarantee that a marriage will work out; likewise, a low score doesn't mean everything is gloom and doom. General chart analysis—including Manglik Dosh and strength of the seventh house, governing marriage—assumes gigantic proportions in determining marital harmony.
The Human Touch in Compatibility
That finally brings us to what overshadows everything the stars say: compatibility. Making a relationship work takes emotional intelligence, mutual respect, clear communication, and shared values. Guna Milan provides some insight and guidelines, but it is in the commitment and effort that two people put into tending their bond that the magic of marriage happens.
It is all about growing up together, sharing the 'tecups and downs' of life, realizing all those dreams, and being there for each other. So, as much as Guna Milan stands as an age-old tradition that brings a layer of cosmic understanding into this beautiful journey, the real essence of a contented marriage is simply the love and understanding between two hearts.

The native want to start a cooking Youtube channel and wanted to know if it will be successful as per vedic astrology of his horoscope.
Based on the given birth details DOB 12-5-1995 at 1:15 AM in Warangal, Telangana ( Andhra Pradesh ), India and the analysis is done as per KP vedic astrology paddhati / system.
The erected horoscope shows kumbha lagna / aquarius ascendant with Saturn in 1st house, venus sun n ketu in 3rd house, mercury in 4th house, mars in 7th house, moon in 8th house, rahu in 9th house and Jupiter in 10th house.
The moon is in hastha nakshatra in kanya rashi / moon in virgo sign and the current ruling mahadasa is rahu.
In order learn if the native will be successful in his cooking Youtube video making as per astrology, one need to study the 6th and the 10th cuspal sublord. The study of the current mahadasa will let us know how the dasa lords are going to give its effect on his Youtube video making during its ruling period and many more events in the life of the native during its ruling period.
From the horoscope the 6th cuspal sublord is Saturn and its strongly signifying 1 and 12th house as its untenanted in the planet level, Jupiter signifying 2,10 and 11th house in the nakshatra level and venus strongly signifying 2,4 and 9th house as its untenanted in the sublord level.

The current ruling mahadasa is rahu and the analysis of rahu is already done.
From the analysis I conclude that the native donot have smooth sailing in his career, there is lot of ups and downs in his career. There will be multiple career change and gaps between his career.
Although the native has chosen a correct field of Youtube video making BUT THE RETURNS ARE VERY VERY SLOW AND LATE. Since the destiny of the native also shows hurdles in his career, so it will definitely act on the youtube video also and thus get the success very late.
The other practical factors the native should understand is the SEO of Youtube videos. If the native donot know the SEO of youtube then it is wise to be away from Youtube video making as it will be waste of time.
In a nutshell the result of the Youtube viodeo will come very late to native and if the native can bear that late then he can go ahead with his youtube video making of his cooking.

Ketu and Purpose of life
The sooner your talents and limitations are identified, the more blunders you can steer clear of!
Identify your mission!
In the Vimshottari dasha system of Vedic Astrology, Ketu and Rahu both have their own periods, with the primary Ketu period lasting seven years. If Ketu is not in the proper position, it is said that one cannot endure more. In a sense, Ketu pulls a person into a spiritual existence throughout its phase by eliminating material ties.
Every planet has its own season throughout the year. The peak summer season in India, which falls in May and June in the West, is tied to Ketu along with the Sun and Moon.
Ketu gains more power during Dakshinayan, like all malefics (when the Sun passes along the northern path - from June 21 to December 22).
The days throughout the month when the Moon passes over the Ketu-owned Nakshatras of Ashvini (Aries), Mahga (Leo), and Mula are when Ketu is most potent (Sagittarius).
Additionally, Ketu is associated with Chaturthi, or the fourth lunar day of a waning or growing moon. And in Krishna Paksha, Ketu is most potent (the time when the Moon is waning).
Every day of the week has a distinct planet linked with it, as you are all aware. And because of his excellent relationships with Jupiter and Mars, it is said that Ketu is most potent on Tuesday and Thursday.
Ketu's powers are most potent during daybreak and the early morning hours. In Vedic culture, this period is known as Brahma Muhurta. The Creator's time is now. The astral spheres are at their greatest during Brahma Muhurta, making this the ideal time for meditation and devotion. You may now feel the Divine and have a spiritual experience.
People who are born at night are most impacted by Ketu in their life since, like other malefics, he is strongest during the night.
The time of Ketu in a person's life is between the ages of 47 and 54. When they get close to this age, people change. Depending on the placement of Ketu and the planets in the horoscope, a person may acquire a lot at this time or lose everything.
A spiritual journey is thought to begin at the age of 47.

Visual Effects Trends to Watch Out for in 2024
2024 is anticipated to be a highly exciting year for visual effects. In 2023 we saw a rapid shift in the VFX industry with the expected boom of Artificial Intelligence. Today, AI and other new tools and technologies make a huge impact, including in the filmmaking processes like the screenplay, visual concept, VFX creation, editing, and sound. Artificial Intelligence will be employed almost everywhere. This will be an exciting change that will make storytelling tools to start becoming more accessible to all, while also fostering a more competitive and healthy environment for content creators across the board. Naturally, this will make it easier for artists to produce visually stunning content and shall provide wider access to technology, whether it is for writing filmmaking

"I did what I had to, I had no money but I had to meet her. I was cycling for love, but never loved cycling. It's simple."
Whenever he felt sad, his mother would tell him that according to his horoscope, he would someday marry a woman "whose zodiac sign would be Taurus, she would come from a far away land, she would be musical and would own a jungle".
So when he met Ms Von Schedvin, he immediately remembered his mother's predictions and asked her if she owned a jungle.
Ms Von Schedvin, whose family comes from Swedish nobility, replied that she did own a forest and added that not only was she "musical" (she liked to play the piano) her zodiac sign was also Taurus.
[...]
After several conversations, she agreed to visit Orissa with him.
The first monument she saw there was the famous Konark temple.
"I became emotional when PK showed me the Konark. I had this image of the temple stone wheel framed in my student room back in London, but I had no idea where this place actually was. And here I was standing in front of it."
[...]
Ms Von Schedvin had driven to Delhi with her friends from Sweden along the famous hippie trail - crossing Europe, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan - to reach India in 22 days.
[...]
More than a year passed and the two kept in touch through letters.
Mr Mahanandia however, did not have enough money to buy a plane ticket.
So, he sold everything he owned, bought a bicycle and followed her along the same hippie trail.
[...]
"Art came to my rescue. I made portraits of people and some gave me money, while others gave me food and shelter," he said.
Mr Mahanandia remembers the world as being very different in the 1970s. For instance, he did not need a visa to enter most countries.
"Afghanistan was such a different country. It was calm and beautiful. People loved arts. And vast parts of the country were not populated," he said.
He said that people understood Hindi in Afghanistan, but communication became a problem once he entered Iran.
"Again art came to my rescue. I think love is the universal language and people understand that."
"Those were different days. I think people had more free time then to entertain a wanderer like me."
#the fact that she had his hometown on her bedroom wall long before they ever met!!#see this is why everyone needs open borders. just think of the romances we could be missing out on#idk im a sucker for a good reckless love story where beyond the sure initial crush - they keep choosing each other#to an outrageous illogical inexplicable extent#also a sucker for any vehicle for intercultural connection#people in the 70s had it made in that sense man. although#just read a great article about toto koopman and her adventures in the 40s. maybe it's less time periods and more decisions on how to live.#what to value#long post#yes this was on reddit. i just had to share here

Yantras – A Lost Science
Yantras are integral to astrology. 'Yan' means ‘to control’, ‘curb’ or ‘influence’. 'Tra’ means ‘tool’. Yantras are tools or diagrams that illustrate a sacred geometrical arrangement in a symmetrical design. Supposedly, it emits positive energies, curbs negative energies, and also releases spiritual vibrations.
The Devi Bhagawatam says, 'Archabhave Tatha Yantram'. This means that the Yantra symbolizes divine power, and so people worship it as a deity. Yantras are three-dimensional in nature. But they are two-dimensional when drawn.
The complex geometrical arrangement is rich in meaning. For instance, a Swastika denotes prosperity, fortune, and spirituality, and a lotus flower petal symbolizes 'vritti' or the psychic quality of a chakra. An upward triangle of shatkona represents masculinity (Shiva) and action. A downward triangle represents Shakti and introversion.
Yantras have been in use since 3300 B.C. They were found among the Harappan ruins. There are temples in south India that are in the shape of Yantras. Yantras are often prescribed as astrological remedies for various planetary afflictions.
Yantras have associations with certain gods, planets, etc., and people use them to gain some specific benefits. It is achieved through meditation or by installing it at a particular place.
Uses of Yantras
In a horoscope, planets occupy different houses, which represent the different aspects of life, like health, wealth, education, career, love life, etc. Some planets have positive effects, while others have negative effects. Some alter their nature as per the house they occupy. The constant movement of the planets in the houses of the birth chart can affect one in a good or bad manner. Astrologers prescribe Yantras to pacify malefic planets and reduce their adverse effects on one’s life.
People use Yantras during a special Pooja to attract positivity. They are also used for regular worship. The Yantras in temples are often energized with Mantras which are written on them. Yantras used to manifest desires are made of special materials like rice paste, flowers, ashes, etc.
Once a Yantra is energized, it acquires life. To make it work better, one should chant Mantras relating to the Yantra daily. Respect it, keep it in a clean place, and offer ghee lamps, flowers, fruits, etc. But it also needs your unalloyed faith and devotion. An energized Yantra is like a car, while meditation is like fuel. Both are necessary to reach your goal. Also, get the yantras re-energized once a year, at least, during occasions like Diwali, Holi, Navratri, or other auspicious times.
Copper, Silver, Gold, Bhojpatra, Panchdhatu, and Ashtadhatu are more auspicious for making Yantras. Some Gurus make customized yantras for their followers on cloth, which also have a good effect.
Some Dos and Don’ts Regarding Yantras
Don’t touch the Yantra with dirty hands. Do not let outsiders touch the Yantra. Women should keep their distance from the Yantra or remove them (if worn) during their menstrual period. Do not drink liquor or eat non-vegetarian food. Do not make love while wearing the Yantra. Keep the Yantra in the Pooja room or a clean place. Don't keep the Yantra in the bedroom. Do not take it into the toilet.
Significance of Yantras
Yantras can enhance the intensity of our prayers by helping us focus on them. It helps to achieve resonance and boost the flow of energy and vibration. It attracts positive energy and eliminates negative energy. Yantras can reduce mental clutter.
Structure of Yantras
Yantras come in many shapes – circle, triangle, hexagon, octagon, or lotus petals. It may be drawn on paper or engraved on metal. Specific colors are used to make Yantras. The colors represent specific ideas or purposes for which the Yantra will be used. It helps one to connect with the conscious. The center point of the Yantra is the Bindu which represents the main deity associated with it.

The Celestial Titan: Unveiling the Dominance of Strongest Planet in Astrological World
First of all, let us first define what's the meaning of strong ?A simple answer would be is that - When you feel that you can do anything you wish in your life. That's the time you feel strongest? Isn't it?
But being strong doesn't always lead to happiness and success. It's your choice how being strong, you utilize the trait or condition to prosper or destroy yourself.
Well, as per my research and knowledge, I can say that the Moon is the only planet that can help you do whatever you want. Make you strong. Moon is mind. It represents thoughts.Mind has the biggest power to manifest anything that an individual wishes. In our ancient texts- Vedas also, Mind is being called the kalpvrkish.
There is a story in Hindu Mythology about Mind power or Kalpavrikasha. When Goddess Parvati wanted a daughter in her life to reduce her loneliness, Ashokasundari was created from the wish-fulfilling tree Kalpavriksha. If we analyze it in a practical understanding,Kalpvrkish was not any tree, but it was goddess power of is the power of your mind.
Rahu or Ketu is the planet that amplifies or decreases the quality of Moon. Rahu and ketu are same body and plays the role of a catalyst to the moon. I have seen people with Moon conjunct or aspected by rahu or Ketu did either wonders to their life or blunders to their life.Moon feels either extremely +ve or -ve in Moon Mahadasha or Rahu madasha or ketu mahadasha.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan become Miss World in Moon Maha Dasha. Her moon also conjuct with Rahu.
Harnaaz Sandhu became Miss Universe because her moon conjunct with ketu in rahu mahadasha.
India PM Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in Moon Mahadasha due to Rahu aspect Moon in his chart.
Sadhguru got enlightened during Moon Maha Dasha because his moon conjunct ketu.
Robin Williams did suicide because his moon conjunct with rahu in Ketu Mahadasha.
Deepika Padukone went into depression because her moon conjunct ketu in rahu mahadasha.
In my more than 10 years of Research and Horoscope analysis, I have seen that most people feel get disturbed due to an afflicted moon.People become stars due to this combination, and people commit suicide or go into depression due to this combination of moon rahu or moon ketu. In the psychology field, it is a fact that human general nature is to think negatively in small things.
As per the law of attraction, this is also true. You attract what yoi think. But during the Moon dasha, rahu dasha or ketu dasha, there is a sudden rise in your negative thoughts, and because of thoughts intensity, things will also start manifesting. If we look at Moon Positive, we can also infer that during these dashas, if we can train ourselves to think positively and believe that, then wonders can happen. Your wishes will start Manifesting for your benefits. Moon dasha, Rahu Dasha or Ketu dasha is the biggest opportunity to pull your Moon upward and to fulfill all the wishes that a person wishes.
So, if you want to do wonders to your life, Moon dasha, Rahu dasha or Ketu dasha are the greatest opportunities for you. There are many remedies to generate belief power in you. To do wonders from the power of your mind(moon), there are few remedies:
Do Sadhna/Meditation of your Diety. Your diety can be seen through your birth chart.
Believe that everything happening in your life is a blessing for you. For example, if a cat crosses the road, believe that everything that is happening is a positive signal for you.
When it comes to your body, believe that your every single cell is very strong. That way, you are commanding the universe to keep yourself fit and to never get ill or if already ill, then to recover fast.
When it comes to your network/friend/colleague circle believe that they are a Blessings for you. Even if they are not doing things according to you. Your believing power will turn this the tables and you will succeed whatever the problems will be or your network circle will start working for your benefits. The same thing applies to your family members i.e wife, mother, father or boss at the workplace, and all other relations.Don't create a future on the basis of what's happening in your present.
Whatever wish you will live with intense emotion and believe, it will surely manifest!!
