Hey!! It's been quite a while since I posted anything, here. To be honest, work is very time-consuming. But! Here I am, with a tarot card- last one being Maestro's, that I've done at least three months ago!

This time, place for some Timerogue, as the Six of Cups.

Explanation, as always, under the cut!

The Six of Cups -Upright- is a card encouraging you to think about the past, especially thee good memories. Think about the fun, the happiness, instead of the sorrow and the grief; it will allow you to nurture the relationship you still have in your life, or push you to create new ones, on new level of harmony. Connect with your inner child, and experience the fun that come with it: you need to allow yourself to be playful, spontaneous nd creative. You see and handsome stranger at a Bridgerton party? Perfect! Go talk, go flirt, get briefly abducted, have fun! You are now more open, more willing to give the other the benefice of the doubt (Bounty Hunter, yes, but he's hot, so... and yes, alien shapeshifter, but also hot, so...). It's time for you to turn over a page, and start afresh from a more positive place. (Get therapied, 14th!).

Upright, it's a card for healing, a card looking forward with joy: fitting for 15th's promise and attitude.

Reversed, hovewer, could apply to both of them- including the Doctor, who's not as alright as he would like to let us believe. When the Reversed Six of Cups appears in a reading, you might be clinging to the past and losing touch with the present. Leaving on an empty ship meant for two, for more, even, all by yourself; keeping all the memories of what used to be, and closing yourself up around it. It's alright to indulge in a little reminiscing about the past, as long as you understand that it's over. You need to make peace with the past, so you can focus on the now: stop brooding all by yourself, and try to connect with this very charming stranger, maybe. Allow yourself to enjoy life again, to have fun, to breath. It's okay. They would not hate you, for it.

You may also have lost touch with your inner child, closed yourself up to anything and everyone, because you're taking too much of a responsability, or leaving with an heaviness you do not share. thinking about little kid me watching 11 regenerate and how he then refused to watch any Doctor Who that wasn't 11 afterwards, and then the interested started fading out over like 5 years. and then 2 years ago, something shitty happened to me and I was like "wow. maybe I should get back into Doctor Who" and it was perfect timing cuz they were gonna release the specials in a week! and then I watched The Giggle and I saw Ncuti Gatwa as 15 and instantly felt that spark of oh that's the Doctor. that's my Doctor again.

Ncuti literally brought me back to my CHILDHOOD FAVOURITE show in no time at all and he just LEFT in a SHITTY HALF ASSED FINALE with no care or concern given to his untied arcs and storylines.

I can remember how I physically didn't sleep AT ALL after Rogue came out, because I was so excited for what this meant for Doctor Who! I remember my own countdown until s2/s15 aired, and I can remember how hyped I was during RR because of the new style of shots they were doing, the cool animation in Lux, the fantastic character development in The Well, and how watching TS&TE turned it into one of my favourite nuwho episodes ever. I was so excited for what this season meant for 15 as a character, and I was even excited for what Wish World meant in terms of his character. when that promo photo of 15 and Bels at the club hit my social media, I had faith that it'd been a reclamation of the queerness he had to repress in Wish World. that he'd get to be himself, and the beginning of The Reality War even made me have faith in it when he took off the blazer and it turned into a kilt. and then I watched the rest of it, and this might be dramatic, but that GENUINELY felt like a stab in the back.

they turned the Doctor who was a big breath of fresh air for the show, with a brand new energy we hadn't seen before, and had potential for a serious exploration of the Doctor's trauma and repressed tendencies from the Time Lord Victorious days, and they made him go between two nostalgia bait castings. the first Black Doctor (not counting Fugitive considering she didn't have her own run) and they put him between two of RTD's favourite white callbacks. I wasn't too pissed with the bi-generation stuff, and putting Ncuti after David, because I had faith that they'd just sort of acknowledge that he's just a way for 15 to cope with his trauma (it doesn't work but that's for a different post). but to put Billie in a surprise regeneration in an episode that overall slaughtered so many good characters? to give him such a rushed regeneration?? to never give him a Dalek story, or even a Cyberman story??

the ONE DECENT THING I hope comes out of all of this is that Ncuti Gatwa knows that his time as the Doctor was most definitely not wasted. the amount of people who are clearly upset about this, for countless reasons, and I know there are so many people who have expressed gratitude for him getting them back in the show. (shoutout to the Timerogue server that literally gave him a scrapbook all about how much they love his era.) i'm not Black, but I have never felt so seen by a Doctor's era since I watched Matt's run as a little kid, and now here I am with Ncuti's run. I will continue watching the show, this isn't enough to make me quit it altogether - but honestly I don't think I'd blame anyone if they did. especially if RTD stays on as showrunner.

honestly we can only hope BF picks up 15's run, and Ncuti agrees to come back for audiodramas, because, that wasn't enough time at all.

TimeRogue 1800s Chamaeleon Arc Fic

Wrote this a while ago, posting now for......no reason at all, no recent events in the fandom that make this feel relevant or anything

Rogue was taking notes on all the ways that John Smith was different from the Doctor.   First of all, John Smith snored.  Rogue’s tiny servant’s room was just off to the side of John’s, and he could hear the man’s thunderously loud snores even through the heavy oak door that divided them.  Rogue wondered what quirk of the chameleon arc had caused the doctor’s human lungs to be capable of that type of noise when his Time Lord lungs did no such thing, but ultimately had to shrug it off as a biological complication he’d probably never understand The second thing, which went hand in hand with the snoring, was how much John Smith slept.  It has been a while since they’d had a human traveling with them, and Rogue had forgotten just how much sleep their fragile little bodies needed to function - an entire third of every earth day? It was absurd.  Granted, some of his frustration with this schedule may have been related to the fact that he was relegated to his own tiny, cramped bed rather than John’s large, plush, comfortable one.  He could imagine much, much worse things than spending a third of the day tucked away with his arms around his sleeping husband…but given his current role was as John’s loyal manservant, such fantasies were currently, unfortunately, out of the question.   The third thing was the way he looked at Rogue.�� The Doctor made no secret of how he felt about his husband’s appearance - he was wont to stare unabashedly at Rogue with that soft, wide grin of his whenever Rogue did something he found attractive.  John Smith was all furtive, secret glances and downcast eyes when it came to his manservant Roger. Earlier that day, John had asked Rogue to pull down a book from the high shelf for his studies; the action of reaching up had caused Rogue’s shirt to hike up an inch, revealing a glimpse of the skin around his midriff.  When he’d turned to hand John the book, the other man wouldn’t meet his gaze, and Rogue thought he’d detected the barest hint of a blush in his dark cheeks.  It was very sweet, in a way, even if it made Rogue’s heart ache a bit to see his usually-confident husband so at war with his feelings.  The chameleon arc was able to instill a period-appropriate set of base memories and social conventions in the Time Lord it transformed, but unfortunately that meant that an 1810-based John Smith had no understanding of any type of physical attraction outside a strict heterosexual binary.  If they’d had more time, the Doctor could have tweaked the base settings to allow his human self to better understand his own preferences - and his feelings for his husband - but they simply had needed to work too fast.

one thing I haven't seen addressed, or maybe I missed it, is why Rogue is the ONLY man wearing boots at the Duchess's party - another example of his incomplete research (in-universe explanation) or just because this outfit is hot (extradiegetic and I'm not complaining)?

all the other men are in knee-breeches, most with white stockings though a couple of them have black stockings, and all with dancing shoes/pumps.

I suppose the Chuldur Duchess is not going to cavil about this, but the original Duchess would definitely have had things to say about it :)

Friendly reminder that from a narrative perspective (not just a gay/shipper perspective) next season of Doctor Who (which yes, there is a 99.99999999% chance there's going to be one) the Doctor's now going to have to go save Rogue because I trust the nuNuWho or w/e we're calling this era writers enough to not just have a character that intriguing and full of potential essentially have the last we see of him be serving as some kind of deus ex machina. But also friendly reminder that just because his fate could be jokingly comparable to being "sent to superhell" doesn't mean that whatever happens to Timerogue as a ship affects Destiel in any way (and wouldn't even if Superwholock were all set in the same universe as if it was meant to be some kind of weird parallel-echo thing more shit would echo) unless that's what'd make the fandom calm down if good things happened

          The planet he’s sent to is a relatively smaller one and the population is not as large as others, but when a planet expresses interest in joining the Republic, the Republic does not hesitate. The more allies against the Separatists the better. Force only knows why he’s sent to see over negotiations. Well actually, that’s a stupid thought. He isn’t called The Negotiator for nothing. But surely, a Senator would be better suited for this job. Nevertheless, it’s a welcome break from the pain and exhaustion that comes with battle, despite how much he despises politics.

The Negotiator ship is orbiting overhead while he and Cody are flown down for the meeting in a shuttlecraft. There’s no need for an entire entourage of soldiers when he’s only representing the Republic to start peace negotiations. As he leaves the shuttle with Cody at his side, the Jedi gives the Welcome Committee a traditional bow in greeting with a soft smile - one he knows is reassuring and warm. 

          Yet before he can even say anything, one of the guards walks up to the government official and whispers in their ear. Not one to intrude, Obi-Wan merely gives Cody a quick glance to which his response is a shrug. 

“I apologize Master Kenobi, but it seems that we’re going to have to place you under arrest.”

          Obi-Wan nearly sputters, “Wha-” 

While Cody interrupts, “Now wait a minute.”

          The guards flank Obi-Wan and grab his arms, the grip is firm but not meant to hurt him. As Cody immediately goes to his aid, the General shakes his head. “No need Cody, I’m sure this is all a misunderstanding.” The Marshal Commander doesn’t look happy in the slightest with the order, but he complies either way. 

Obi-Wan’s lightsaber is taken from his person and then he’s led to a speeder. “If you don’t mind me asking, for what exactly am I being arrested,” he asks once settled in the back seat, handcuffed hands resting on his lap. 

          “Larceny and aggravated assault.”

“Hm.” is all he replies wondering how in the Force he managed to get arrested the second he steps on a new planet. If Master Qui-Gon were here he sure would find this predicament amusing. Soon enough, he’s being escorted into a cell and the doors are closing shut behind him. It’s a comfortable cell, obviously the citizens here are well taken care of. But for now he’ll have to put his faith in Cody to get him out of this mess. The last thing he wants is a political upheaval and ruining this treaty with his bad luck.

Wow did someone call me and my long insane ramblings of evidence that Rogue will be back 100%? I’m so sorry, but you have summoned the kraken now.

Anyway, let’s do this. 🙂

1. The ring. Going to start with the strongest one. The Doctor may not immediately have gone to search for Rogue (as far as we know, he could be running a search on the TARDIS while he’s busy taking his death puppy for a walk), but we are clearly meant to see that he’s thinking of him. First example: Empire of Death. The Doctor is in the TARDIS, waiting for Ruby to come in, and he knows they’re going to say goodbye. How does he keep his hands busy? By turning the ring, Rogue’s ring; of all the rings he is wearing, he is fiddling with the one he accepted from Rogue. And he turns to Ruby in a way that makes sure we can see that. Look. Second example: Joy to the World. We’ve all seen him in his cute janitor outfit having flashbacks over a plunger with all his rings gone - except of course for his engagement ring (he doesn’t have a boyfriend). @dwrogue made a wonderful screenshot collection of him holding the ring hand into the camera as if he’d been asked to make it super extra obvious. When he points at Anita asking for the honeymoon suite (picking up the wedding theme by total coincidence, I’m sure), he even pauses the hand movement for a second, so we can notice the ring.

Now keep in mind that this was filmed in November 2023, half a year before the rest of the world even knew about Rogue, and before anyone could tell for sure how popular he was going to be (although, come on, have you seen them together). We’re supposed to keep thinking of him, and to know that the Doctor is thinking of him. There’s a plan.

2. The changes to the script. This was mainly pointed out by dwrogue again, who is amazing btw. According to the Gallifrey One panel with Kate Herron and Briony Redman, the one line that indicates that the Doctor will look for Rogue (“Just sending his ship into orbit around the moon, so it can wait. As long as it takes.”) was added late. The little, suddenly hopeful salute the Doctor throws at the sky wasn’t in the shooting script at all, which only ends with a sad smile. Bittersweet. Bye.

They expected our beloved Find me to be cut from the original script, but instead, more hope for Rogue was added after RTD got it. Because he’s coming back.

3. Casting Jonathan Groff. So in the interviews, RTD let us know that someone suggested Jonathan Groff for the role, and he replied “yeah, go on, waste my time”. I mean, it’s true that Jonathan is superglued to Broadway and very busy being successful and winning well deserved awards, but why not even ask? They literally had chronically unemployed and completely unknown actor Neil Patrick Harris in The Giggle. In fact, they made a big deal about needing someone who can dance, juggle, do card tricks and put on silly accents, and when Neil was suggested, RTD just said “oh right, I’ll dm him on instagram” (paraphrased). They did hold their breath if he was going to accept, but what a difference. Now why would it be so unlikely for Jonathan to say yes to three weeks of filming in South Wales, with a producer who spent his impressive career working for LGBTQ+ representation, creating another important moment of representation in an iconic scifi show? Because they were asking him to fit more than one episode into his schedule. Next.

4. The promo. This isn’t even about Rogue appearing in almost every official promo post leading up to the new season (perhaps the social media team are just fellow Timerogue truthers), it’s about JGroff being announced as playing a key role and “changing the Doctor’s life forever”. Sure he flew in to deliver a kiss to upset one million moms and sad aging dudes on Facebook, and Rogue saved the world (from the monster of the week, for it was only a regular episode), but I refuse to believe that’s it. I will say this until he’s back: this wasn’t a key role yet. We had gay kisses before. Yes, it was romantic this time, but the Doctor still didn’t initiate it, and then it was a trick anyway. Our bounty hunter is not quite done stirring up trouble for the Doctor, and he will be back to continue.

Bonus. While Jonathan was seen on stage in New York all through the production of season two, it doesn’t mean he won’t appear in s2 at all (someone please hold me if I’m wrong on this one). First of all, there seems to have been juuuust enough time in the shooting schedule of Rogue to do a secret studio shoot in advance for s2. Not a whole episode, obviously, but they could easily have done another TARDIS scene, or even one of Rogue alone (there’s one interview bit that suggests he started filming on 7/8 May already, when Ncuti was busy elsewhere). And, of course: they could have filmed a shared scene separately, like they did with the first Ten/Rose scene. Which he could have done in the US, if needed. What if the recent finale reshoots were done to make it fit together?

In short: we will get him back. Don’t worry.
