Jane Austen.
Jane Austen was born on December 16, 1775, in Steventon, Hampshire, England. She was the seventh of eight children to her parents. She received her primary education from her father at home, who encouraged her strong interest in literature and poetry.
Tumblr media
In her early years, she began writing as a source of entertainment for her family. She would curate short stories, plays, and even poems. Her literary career officially started in 1811, when she published her first novel "Sense and Sensibility" anonymously.
Tumblr media
Throughout her life, she wrote six major novels, including, "Pride and Prejudice", "Emma" and others. Even after her works gained popularity and modest success for their witty dialogues, keen social observation, and insightful commentary on the manners and morals of her time, she led a relatively quiet life, enjoying the rural life she had with her family in Hampshire.
Tumblr media
And even though she was a romance enthusiast in her novels she was also practical and realistic. She was single for her whole life and never married anyone despite having multiple suitors asking for her hand in marriage. She has had admirers and the best-known of these is Tom Lefroy, a young and clever Irishman who was in Hampshire only for a few weeks but met with Austen frequently over the Christmas parties and balls. They never went ahead with what they had as they did not have the same financial status to make a match possible. He mentioned that he did love her but later dismissed it as "a boyish love". In a letter to her sister, she has mentioned flirting with Tom Lefroy for one last time before she lets him go. (source: janeaustens.house)
Tumblr media
She passed away on July 18, 1817, at the age of 41, likely due to Addison's disease. Despite her relatively short life, Jane Austen's novels have endured as timeless classics, revered for their wit, charm, and enduring portrayal of human nature and societal conventions. They are still famous among the old and young generations.

I don't know if I AM all here, honestly. I don't mean to sound whiney and privileged with the "it doesn't feel like Christmas this year" schtick, but it's not easy when it's still hot enough to warrent air conditioning and you have an adblocker so you don't see an oversaturation of christmas ads, and you're autistic as fuck and still watch the exact same gaming video from October 26th every day and nothing else 😂.
But I know it's mostly because I'm so dissociated from my surroundings. I've had a hard 2 months, and to that, my therapist says to just let the dissociation and the outbursts happen and wait for my body and brain to feel safe enough to come out of it.
I've been doing my best. I was sick Christmas day, so I had to spend it in bed away from everybody, but I've been watching my usual christmas movies between other comfort activities. But even then I'm just so out of it. Is it July? November? No! This is a dream realm and I have been stuck in an ageless, timeless place where something terrible has happened, and I don't know when or if I'll ever wake up.

Review of the Circulatory System’s show, Flagpole, 14 July 2004
[source]
transcript:
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM, THE LAY ALL OVER ITS Flicker Theatre & Bar Wednesday. June 30
I woke from a hard late afternoon sleep and a spy dream; spies that cling to the ceiling and under floorboards. It was blustery and I was to head to Flicker for "acoustic" Circulatory System. Good thing I got there in time, as the night would sell out. Even the outdoor seating was retracted. Even a woman who'd flown from Boston for just this concert was turned away I felt an out-of-season "Christmas Carol" window scene on my back as dozens of hopefuls did their best Tiny Tims, hoping to get a crumb off the feast inside. The dimly lit theatre lengthened my awake/ asleep fog as the opening act readied.
The Lay All Over Its were down from Chicago, with Jason Ajemian on double bass and vocals, and Nori Tanaka on drums. Ajemian plays in free- jazz trio Triage, though he’s no stranger to the rootsier approach; his Born Heller duo with Josephine Foster is a new kind of Americana, highly idiosyncratic with an eye towards the past. Tanaka, originally from Fukuoka, Japan, now calls Illinois home. He plays in various configurations with the likes of Jett Parker and Tatsu Aoki. demonstrating remarkable flexibility and spontaneous adaptations. And so it began. Washes of cymbals and toms and strumming and singing in perpetual motion arched like Gorecki's “Third.’ Harmonics, drones, displacement of rhythms, headbobbing throughout. Circular sheets of pulse modestly dispatched (from Tanaka's kit. from his heart
Taps to end, like the rain.
Then bowing—sad, multivoiced broken folk—beautiful, as drums entered again, but it took a while to notice their intermittent punctuations. More frenetic, this kind of heavy still had forward momentum with no obvious subdivisions. The audience was quiet. A major key explosion and the drums dropped out. It was a train what kept rollin’ in the brushes and a hard-formed triplets. Ajemian in his upper reaches sang what I couldn't understand—but didn't need to— overtop “No. no. no, no, no, no. no.' his intonation like on a Smithsonian Folkways recording. Patter of snare, scratch of bow. it sounded timeless. Plucked pointillist ghost notes, pizzicato expressionism, continue drum creating rapid call and response. Busy with high flourishes like Little Richard slowing and starting. Deep African groove book-ended by knotty swing jazz vamps to a sparer rat-a-tat percussion solo Drums front and center, just as they've been the whole way, though now we focus on the undercurrent. A chance to stretch, to fixate on cells of rhythmic exchange. Bass entry on cue in seamless integration. More raw singing, like a field song, and it stopped.
I was still that (good) groggy, maybe more so; my spy dream seemed reality as people may well have hung from the ratters and snuck through doorways, in expectation. (And I'd love to check out Circulatory System's record collections; the in-between band music was cool-headed.) We waited in this calm... Finally, with spare sustained tones, Will Hart sang “been such a long time" (if it had. all was forgiven) over a gentle propulsion. Julian Koster sawed away his echo chamber opera. This continued until drummers Hannah Jones and Derek Almstead kicked in with the big beat; it was Pink Floyd planetarium. King Crimson angularity and classic-rock catharsis as John Fernandes' bass clarinet bottomed out. Soon traditional instruments were traded for two pitchers of water, pouring from one to the other as Lay All Over Its’ Ajemian added high sparkle and low bow. There was even kissing of the microphone, close up.
On to Pete Erchick’s keyboard bass pulse and a big stadium sound, a nice slurry clarinet break all mellowed out in staccato rhythm through the changes, an expanded sense of time. As Hart chanted “one by one" all stopped and resumed together, an Arnold Dreyblatt insistence and calm. The System shifted from jazzy to straightforward rock and back. A living cross-fade to slow dirges into Beatles-disco speedup-hushed freakout. The last suite: a mid-tempo shuttle, a guitar and voice reduction, some trading bass. “Now is the only time." Easy waves as Fernandes walked backwards down the center aisle with some sort of noisemaker. I slept well, spies be damned.

George Michael
Tumblr media
From the sugar-coated pop of Wham! to the Bo Diddley-esque acoustic strum of “Faith,” George Michael wasted no time at all in becoming a British pop legend. After spending years as a teenage pin-up thanks to Wham!’s fun-living jollity “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” “Club Tropicana.” The London-born singer-songwriter sprung a timeless solo-credited classic on the world with 1984’s “Careless Whisper,” a song he co-wrote, aged 17, with his Wham! counterpart Andrew Ridgeley. Michael would go fully solo in 1987, taking over MTV with his leather-clad, guitar-slinging image and breaking records when his debut solo album scored 4 consecutive U.S. No.1 Hits. Such as: Faith, Father Figure, One More Try and Monkey).
In 1984 George Michael also performed with the charity Band Aid on the holiday single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” to benefit Ethiopian famine relief. Michael and Ridgeley also donated the proceeds of their hit holiday single “Last Christmas” and “Everything She Wants” to Band Aid’s charitable efforts.
On 13th July 1985, Wham! performed to raise funds for Ethiopian famine again at Live Aid, it was there that Michael and Elton John sang John’s classic “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me,” at Wembley Stadium in London.

String Art Gifts: Unique and Personalized Creations for Every Occasion
Introduction:
String art has emerged as a popular and creative way to add a touch of uniqueness and personality to gifts for various occasions. Combining artistry with craftsmanship, String Art Gifts are not only visually striking but also hold sentimental value. From personalized portraits to intricate designs, there are endless possibilities when it comes to string art gifts. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the world of string art, exploring its versatility and the myriad of occasions where string art gifts can make a memorable impact.
String Art Portraits:
One of the most popular applications of string art is in creating personalized portraits. Whether it's a portrait of a loved one, a cherished pet, or a favourite landscape, string art offers a unique way to capture the essence of the subject. Using nails or pins and colourful strings, artisans meticulously weave intricate patterns to bring the image to life. The result is a stunning and one-of-a-kind artwork that serves as a timeless keepsake for any occasion, from birthdays to anniversaries.
Customized Names and Quotes:
Another popular string art gift idea is to create customized names or quotes.
