Spring Survey
* What would it be if you had to pick just one favorite thing about spring? Oh wow, there are so many amazing things so great about spring but my all-time favorite is the weather. It isn't too cold but yet not too hot so I could wear a jacket or even go topless and be fine.
* Since spring often signifies a “new beginning,” what new beginning might you try this season? My new beginning would be to try to get out there more and show people who i really am instead of hiding in the shadows.
* Does your character pick wildflowers when they see them? The only time he would pick them is if he was with someone and he wanted to give them to that special someone but since he is single he hasn't done that.
* What’s one song that reminds you of Spring? Come In With The Rain By Taylor Swift
* Is your birthday in the spring? No, his birthday is not. He is more of a Summer baby.
* What’s your favourite drink to have in the Spring time? Sweet Tea is a good Spring Drink.
* What was the last thing you wore that was yellow? I had a Yellow suit that i had worn.
* “April showers bring May flowers.” What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day? My favorite thing to do is cuddle up with someone and watch a movie with the window open so you can smell the rain.
* What is your favorite type of flower to smell? Roses
* What is your favorite spring break memory? When I went to Florida and went to the Spring Break event that they were holding. Got a little too drunk with my friends and did some crazy things.
* Who is the Greek goddess of Spring and nature? Persephone
* What is your favorite spring activity? Hiking is my all-time favorite thing to do.
* What’s one country you wish you could visit in the spring? Italy sounds like an amazing place to visit
* What’s your go-to spring color to wear from your wardrobe? The color i like to wear is Sky Blue, Bryn tries to find anything in that color to wear around Spring time.
* What’s the most surprising thing you’ve ever found while spring cleaning? Some old photos that he had taken when he was younger that he didn't remember doing.

Brothers:🔥 or ❄️?
All about temperature. Favorite seasons? What they like to sleep in? Who in the house is a furnace and which boys are popsicles? From the events it does seem like the Devildom has different seasons, just no sun? Idk I feel like it’s mostly hot but for a few weeks out of the year it’ll get cooler. So in this headcanon it snows sue me
Lucifer:
Lucifer is sort of in the middle on the body heat scale
He can sometimes feel on the warm side, mostly due to the fact that he wears gloves, a vest, and a goddamn fur cape all day
However, on rare occasions where he isn’t layered in clothing his skin is actually cool to the touch.
Especially his bare chest, which is good for hot nights cuddling in bed
Lucifer is the type wear a silk pajama set that’s smooth and cooling on his skin but then have a giant heavy comforter
You cuddle to keep HIM warm at night
Is nice to get a head rub or shoulder rub from since his hands are on the cooler side
Although the Devildom doesn’t really get to experience the joys of having regular full seasons much like here in Florida, he enjoys the Devildom’s equivalent of Autumn
Cool days and cold nights
He enjoys having the fireplace going in his office or in his room not only for aesthetics but just for a little extra coziness
Mammon:
This boy runs HOT
Nice warm skin
During the day his clothes don’t bother him so much. His jacket is suspiciously lightweight (I’m convinced he buys fake designer clothes when he’s strapped for cash)
But his RAD uniform is heavy so he always has the sleeves rolled up and the shirt untucked with the collar open
At night he likes to sleep in as little clothing as possible. He doesn’t need long pants and sleeves sticking to him all night
If he’s alone, he’ll definitely be naked but if you’re bunking with him a t shirt and boxers should suffice
He is nice to cuddle with
He is a summer boy!
He loves the sun and sand and loves to go to Diavolo’s private beach
He hates being cooped up in the drafty House Of Lamentation
Plus he gets to see you in a swimsuit so
Levi:
Reptile boy
Cold blooded
Skin like ice
Save him
Hold him
His hands are always cold from typing and gaming (idk why maybe I have bad circulation but anytime I use my hands extensively they always get so cold they hurt...am I dying?)
Levi doesn’t mind it being super cold in his room
He sleeps in a bathtub- I can’t imagine that’s particularly warm
He just wears a t shirt and sweats to bed
Levi doesn’t often think about how cold or warm he is. It’s not something he notices until someone points it out
“Levi your room is FREEZING!”
“...oh, huh...I guess”
Levi doesn’t leave his room and hates pretty much all weather. But he doesn’t mind a good snow day every once in a while. Playing and making snowdevils
Satan:
Runs slightly warm?
Very comfortable average temperature
The guy that doesn’t mind wearing a jacket in the summer
He considers his comfort more than what the weather is like
His favorite type of weather is when it’s warm during the day but cooler later on
He likes to go for a stroll in the park on a cool, clear night
His room can be a little stuffy sometimes due to all the insulation from all the gotdam books
He sleeps with a light blanket
But wears pajama sets
If it’s laundry day you’ll see him in a hoodie and jeans and at night a loose long sleeve shirt and pajama pants
He likes how warm your human body is and loves to cuddle you
Asmo:
He tends to run on the cooler side
Doesn’t mind the heat or the cold
He has cute outfits for ALL climates!
Cool spring nights are good for trips the hot springs
Winter is good for saunas (plus they’re both great for sweating out toxins and circulation to keep your skin glowing!)
His room is always a maintained temperature of 71 degrees farenheit and keeps a humidifier on bc skin care
He too enjoys wearing cute pajama sets to bed
Lavish silk sheets that are cool to the touch
Definitely isn’t opposed to sleeping au natural, of course
Will use the excuse that he’s cold to get cuddles from you
He ain’t slick
Beel:
Fire
The boy is a walking furnace
He doesn’t necessarily get hot however
Like Levi he doesn’t spend a lot of time thinking about temperature
He’s usually too preoccupied with food
Speaking of food!
He loves when it gets cold out and he gets to eat soups and stews
And in summer he loves his frozen treats
A solidly spring weather type of guy
Likes when it’s warm but with a light cool breeze
Sleeps in just boxers and isn’t shy about it. Sweatpants when the cold creeps into the house
Sleeping with him is great...for five minutes. He’s the guy you go to bed cuddling but halfway throught the night you wake up sweating and you’re like I love you but you need to get off me
However, if Belphie decides to sleep in his own bed and not some random corner of the house or the attic it’s not so bad since Belph feezes their shared room out much to the benefit of anyone seeking cuddles with Beelie
Belphie:
Runs warm but not as warm as Mammon or Beel
Notorious for his love of loose long sleeve shirts and pajama pants
Has an impressive collection of different types of blankets for all types of weather
Big fleece ones
Thin knit ones
Weighted ones
Electric ones
Loves to turn the temperature in his room down to freezing and cuddle up with his blankets
Especially since it makes cuddling with you more comfortable
Like Levi, doesn’t leave the house much but he likes cold, rainy days, they help him sleep

VACATION TIME
April 29, 1949
Tumblr media
“Vacation Time” (aka “Trailer Vacation to Goosegrease Lake”) is episode #41 of the radio series MY FAVORITE HUSBAND broadcast on April 29, 1949 on the CBS radio network.
Synopsis ~ It's vacation time, and Liz and George have decidedly different plans. He wants to go camping with a trailer he borrowed from a friend, while she's set on a glamorous vacation at Moosehead Lodge.
Tumblr media
This episode later partly inspired the premise of “Liz Learns To Swim” aired on June 11, 1950.
Tumblr media
“My Favorite Husband” was based on the novels Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, the Record of a Happy Marriage (1940) and Outside Eden (1945) by Isabel Scott Rorick, which had previously been adapted into the film Are Husbands Necessary? (1942). “My Favorite Husband” was first broadcast as a one-time special on July 5, 1948. Lucille Ball and Lee Bowman played the characters of Liz and George Cugat, and a positive response to this broadcast convinced CBS to launch “My Favorite Husband” as a series. Bowman was not available Richard Denning was cast as George. On January 7, 1949, confusion with bandleader Xavier Cugat prompted a name change to Cooper. On this same episode Jell-O became its sponsor. A total of 124 episodes of the program aired from July 23, 1948 through March 31, 1951. After about ten episodes had been written, writers Fox and Davenport departed and three new writers took over – Bob Carroll, Jr., Madelyn Pugh, and head writer/producer Jess Oppenheimer. In March 1949 Gale Gordon took over the existing role of George’s boss, Rudolph Atterbury, and Bea Benaderet was added as his wife, Iris. CBS brought “My Favorite Husband” to television in 1953, starring Joan Caulfield and Barry Nelson as Liz and George Cooper. The television version ran two-and-a-half seasons, from September 1953 through December 1955, running concurrently with “I Love Lucy.” It was produced live at CBS Television City for most of its run, until switching to film for a truncated third season filmed (ironically) at Desilu and recasting Liz Cooper with Vanessa Brown.
MAIN CAST
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball (Liz Cooper) was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. She began her screen career in 1933 and was known in Hollywood as ‘Queen of the B’s’ due to her many appearances in ‘B’ movies. With Richard Denning, she starred in a radio program titled “My Favorite Husband” which eventually led to the creation of “I Love Lucy,” a television situation comedy in which she co-starred with her real-life husband, Latin bandleader Desi Arnaz. The program was phenomenally successful, allowing the couple to purchase what was once RKO Studios, re-naming it Desilu. When the show ended in 1960 (in an hour-long format known as “The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour”) so did Lucy and Desi’s marriage. In 1962, hoping to keep Desilu financially solvent, Lucy returned to the sitcom format with “The Lucy Show,” which lasted six seasons. She followed that with a similar sitcom “Here’s Lucy” co-starring with her real-life children, Lucie and Desi Jr., as well as Gale Gordon, who had joined the cast of “The Lucy Show” during season two. Before her death in 1989, Lucy made one more attempt at a sitcom with “Life With Lucy,” also with Gordon.
Richard Denning (George Cooper) was born Louis Albert Heindrich Denninger Jr., in Poughkeepsie, New York. When he was 18 months old, his family moved to Los Angeles. Plans called for him to take over his father’s garment manufacturing business, but he developed an interest in acting. Denning enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He is best known for his  roles in various science fiction and horror films of the 1950s. Although he teamed with Lucille Ball on radio in “My Favorite Husband,” the two never acted together on screen. While “I Love Lucy” was on the air, he was seen on another CBS TV series, “Mr. & Mrs. North.” From 1968 to 1980 he played the Governor on “Hawaii 5-0″, his final role. He died in 1998 at age 84.
Bea Benadaret (Iris Atterbury) and Gale Gordon (Rudolph Atterbury) do not appear in this episode.
Ruth Perrott (Katie, the Maid) was also later seen on “I Love Lucy.” She first played Mrs. Pomerantz (above right), a member of the surprise investigating committee for the Society Matrons League in “Pioneer Women” (ILL S1;E25), as one of the member of the Wednesday Afternoon Fine Arts League in “Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress” (ILL S3;E3), and also played a nurse when “Lucy Goes to the Hospital” (ILL S2;E16). She died in 1996 at the age of 96.
Bob LeMond (Announcer) also served as the announcer for the pilot episode of “I Love Lucy”. When the long-lost pilot was finally discovered in 1990, a few moments of the opening narration were damaged and lost, so LeMond – fifty years later – recreated the narration for the CBS special and subsequent DVD release.
GUEST CAST
Tumblr media
Frank Nelson (Policeman) was born on May 6, 1911 (three months before Lucille Ball) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He started working as a radio announcer at the age of 15. He later appeared on such popular radio shows as “The Great Gildersleeve,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Fibber McGee & Molly”. This is one of his 11 performances on “My Favorite Husband.”  On “I Love Lucy” he holds the distinction of being the only actor to play two recurring roles: Freddie Fillmore and Ralph Ramsey, as well as six one-off characters, including the frazzled train conductor in “The Great Train Robbery” (ILL S5;E5), a character he repeated on “The Lucy Show.”  Aside from Lucille Ball, Nelson is perhaps most associated with Jack Benny and was a fifteen-year regular on his radio and television programs.
Tumblr media
Wally Maher (Joe Risley) was born on August 4, 1908 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was known for Mystery Street (1950), The Reformer and the Redhead (1950) and Hollywood Hotel (1937). He was heard with Lucille Ball in the Lux Radio Theatre version of “The Dark Corner” (1947), taking the role originated on film by William Bendix. He died on December 27, 1951.
Tumblr media
Milton Stark (Filling Station Attendant) was a theatre actor and director, who also appeared on radio and television, although usually in supporting roles.  He also worked as a dialogue coach and acting teacher. At UCLA a scholarship was established in his name. He lived to the age of 103.
EPISODE
ANNOUNCER: “As we look in on the Coopers, it is a cold rainy afternoon, but Liz is in her bedroom standing in front of the mirror wearing a back-less, strapless sun dress.”
Liz calls Katie in to show off her sun dress, but Katie is disapproving that is so revealing.  Liz has shopped for summer vacation clothes.  Liz’s bathing suit cost’s forty dollars.
KATIE: “That’s a lot of money for two doilies and a diaper.”
Liz says that husbands only approve of scanty swimsuits when they are on any woman but their wives.
LIZ: “I want to look good for George. He’s going to see a lot of me this summer.” KATIE: “He’s not the only one!”
Tumblr media
The topic of revealing bathing suits was later also mined for comedy on “I Love Lucy.”  In “Off To Florida” (ILL S6;E6) Ricky thinks Lucy’s new skimpy new swimsuit is for Little Ricky!  Lucy also buys a swimsuit that Ricky feels is too skimpy when shopping for their California trip in “Getting Ready” (ILL S4;E11)
Liz says they are going to Moosehead Lodge on Lake Okeechobee. Liz calls it a real swanky place.  Katie reminds Liz that George prefers more rugged vacations.  Liz says she will suggest it to George at dinner.
Tumblr media
Lake Okeechobee is a real place, located in central Florida, although it is far more conducive to George’s type of vacation than Liz’s, highlighting nature through fishing and nature.
Tumblr media
Although there are places called Moosehead Lodge in America, it unlikely that a moose would be associated with central Florida and that it would be an upscale resort of the type Liz is describing.
At the bank, George talks to his co-worker Joe about scheduling vacations.  Joe says that his ideal vacation is in a trailer.  If George likes the idea, he will lend the Coopers his trailer.  George will suggest it to Liz at dinner.
After dinner, both Liz and George get cozy with the idea of easing the other into going on their dream destination.  Liz ‘just happened’ to hear about a place that she vaguely remembers.
LIZ: “I did hear of some place called Moosehead Lodge. It’s probably situated in groves of stately pines, on the shores of an emerald green lake, its rustic beauty enhanced by lawns and flower beds. Each luxurious room is furnished with clean, comfortable box spring beds, modern bathroom and shower. Ten dollars a day, American plan. Oh, George, let’s go there. We can relax and enjoy a continual round of  glorious entertainment, sports, good food, and true fellowship, see your travel agent for details.”
George realizes that Liz has been plotting a vacation.  George says he has a better idea - two weeks in a trailer.  Liz is less than keen. George says that they can borrow Joe Risley’s trailer!
LIZ: “Keen with mud on it.”
Liz is worried that nobody will see her new vacation wardrobe if they are cooped up in a trailer.  They are at an impasse.  Liz suggests they go on separate vacations.  When George reluctantly agrees, she breaks down in tears.
Liz moans to Katie that she already misses George, and the vacation doesn’t begin for two months.  George phones from work to talk to Liz.  George offers a compromise.  They will take a trial weekend trip in the trailer, and if she doesn’t like it, he will go to Moosehead Lodge!
Tumblr media
Vacationing in a trailer was explored by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in their 1953 comedy MGM’s The Long Long Trailer.  The film mines a lot of physical comedy from the trailer’s unwieldy movement and how Lucy’s character Tacy Bolton copes with it.
ANNOUNCER: “George is just driving up with the trailer hooked up to the back of the car.”
Liz remarks how small the trailer is.
GEORGE: “Keep an open mind.” LIZ: “I’ll have to close it or it won’t fit in that trailer.”
They tour the inside, which is smaller than Liz thought.  Just then, a knock at the trailer door and there’s a policeman (Frank Nelson) issuing them a parking ticket! Forty bucks for parking illegally!
The next morning George and Liz get an early start on their trial trailer trip.  Liz has brought along a little light reading for the trip: “Inside Moosehead Lodge” by Liz Gunther.
Motoring along the highway, George is enjoying the drive.
LIZ: “Travel is great. I wouldn’t go anywhere without it.”
George says it is so smooth, you wouldn’t even know the trailer is back there.  Liz notices that it isn’t!  George forgot to hook it on!   Finally, they are off (again) to Goosegrease Lake. Liz reads one of those sequential signs along the roadside: “If Your Whiskers...  Won’t Behave... Take a Tip Use....”  Liz goes silent.
GEORGE: “Use what?”  LIZ: “The last sign’s torn down. Now we’ll never know.”
Tumblr media
Almost everyone in the audience knew it was Burma-Shave.  From 1926 until 1963 the ‘brushless’ shaving cream company dotted the American highways with small red signs, each containing a line of a short rhyme that the driver could read without slowing down as they drove by.  At one time, there were over 600 different rhymes on signs!
Tumblr media
The idea was given a nod on a 1955 “I Love Lucy” episode “First Stop” (ILL S4;E14) with the roadside signs for Aunt Polly’s Pecan Pralines.
LUCY: Fifty miles to Aunt Sally’s Pecan Pralines. later... LUCY: 300 yards to Aunt Sally’s! ETHEL: 200 yards! FRED: 100 yards! RICKY: Just around the bend! LUCY: You have just passed Aunt Sally’s.
Liz is quite sure that George’s shortcut has gotten them lost. They stop to ask directions from a laid back filling station attendant (Milton Stark) who tells them they don’t want to go to Goosegrease Lake.  He suggests they go to the hot springs, instead.
Oops! Milton Stark has trouble pronouncing ‘Goosegrease’ and  the audience is aware of his flub. When he asks Lucille Ball “What ya gonna do there?” She deliberately says “We’re gonna goose a grease”, instead of “grease a goose”, which causes more giggles from the cast and gales of laughter from the audience.
FILLING STATION ATTENDANT: “You can’t get there from here!”
Tumblr media
Next morning Liz wakes up and looks around.  She sees beautiful green grass and a little flag with the number 18 on it!  A golf ball comes crashing through the window. The policeman from who ticketed them earlier knocks on the trailer door. They have illegally camped out on the 18th green of the municipal golf course - only two miles from home!  Liz said they didn’t know where they were going.
POLICEMAN: “Do you know where you’re going now?” LIZ: “Yes!  To Moosehead Lodge!” POLICEMAN: “No, to the city jail! Come on!”

11. favorite type of weather? describe it?
RAINY DAYS!! I live in florida and even when it’s gloomy and rainy it’s humid as frick, but it’s such a nice break from scorching hot sun all the time. i loveee cold weather, i’m trying to convince my S/O to move to Colorado (or somewhere else that has real seasons) after I graduate
12. what are you most passionate about in life?
oof okay i’ll try to not go on a tangent with this one. i’m going to school for electrical engineering and i’m focusing on aerospace/avionics and eventually wanna work on sustainable tech. i think it’s really important for us to be conscious of our environmental impact, especially in the aero industry because hehehe yike so i think the research and development of sustainable tech is so needed. one company, virgin orbit, comes to mind as being at the forefront of a green initiative in the industry and i love it. they use space data to help improve life on earth by tracking things like the changing climate, illegal fishing/logging, natural disasters, track wildlife patterns, etc. idk man i think it’s the coolest shit. planet labs is also really cool about using their satellites stuff for like that too. i love using science to further my tree hugging agenda. i tried to intern at virgin orbit last summer and i was really close but got cut in the final round (but then miss rona came so it was prob for the better that i didn’t get it) so u bet ur sweet ass i’m trying again next summer lolz i just wanna play with rockets and satellites ya feel

seasons tag!!
i was tagged my favorite blog on tumblr @kaffeh ily
1. What is your favorite season?
spring! pollen sux but i love flowers and bees and just the general feeling of new life!
2. Do you prefer warmer or colder weather?
oh def colder. when its hot there’s like nothing you can do you just have to Suffer but when it’s cold you can bundle up and get all snuggly and warm.
3. What do you do on a rainy day?
i usually stay inside! i might drink hot cocoa or sth if it isn’t humid bc my feet get cold lol
4. How is a typical winter where you live? Cold or not?
well i split my time between two states rn. i spent december home in Virginia but i was at school in Florida for the rest of winter. Florida winter is great because it’s like not cold at all but Virginia winter is miserable. it barely snows and it’s just windy and bitterly cold. sometimes though, like maybe 2 times in the last 5 years or so, VA gets insane amts of snow and school gets cancelled for multiple days in a row.
5. Have you ever experienced snow?
oh yea! snow days were the best parts of my childhood!
6. True or false? “I LOVE RAIN!”
false tbh cuz i get wet and the inside of my car gets wet and my dog hates rain and she’s such a wiggle worm that it’s impossible to dry her off completely and then u got wet paws all over ur bed
7. What is your go to food in the summer?
pasta salad!! or burgers and hot dogs.
8. What is your favorite ice cream flavour?
CHOCOLATE
9. Coffee, tea or cocoa? EVERYTHING?
cocoa!!! i drink cocoa summer, winter, any time.
10. Describe your favorite seasonal clothing item!
flannel pajamas. they’re so warm and cozy. i have a great pair of old navy flannel pj bottoms that i adore
11. What is your favorite Holiday?
christmas! this past christmas we made shortbread cookies using a family recipe from my Swedish side and we made our own icing! it’s really fun but labor-intensive. and i made some peanut butter blossoms which are peanut butter cookies and then u press a hershey’s kiss into the center right after they come out of the oven. i just like food ok.
12. If you we’re a season, which one would you be?
i guess i would say winter bc irl i’m pretty introverted haha!
this was fun! i tag @renee-gracie @maximillianvalentine @rainb0wsimmer

Thank you @magnoliidae for the tag!!
Answer the 12 questions (There’s 12 months in a year.. so why not? ) and tag 5 other simblrs!
1. What is your favorite season?
Probably Fall but I’ve recently really appreciated spring though. It was so nice to see all the flowers first bloom after a long freaking cold winter haha. I literally felt joy on my way to work when it first happened. It was amazing.
2. Do you prefer warmer or colder weather?
I prefer cold weather! Can always put more on but there’s only so much you can do when it’s super hot.
3. What do you do on a rainy day?
I love cuddling on the couch with my kitty by the window and just kinda watching it rain outside. When it’s colder maybe some tea :)
4. How is a typical winter where you live? Cold or not?
Definitely colder then Florida thats for sure haha. It sometimes snows here so yeah cold.
5. Have you ever experienced snow?
Yes!! And I love it. But it doesn’t snow that often or if it does not for very long. Previous to living in TN I had only seen it one or two times in my life. In my opinion if it’s gonna be really cold it might as well snow otherwise what point is there xD
6. True or false? “I LOVE RAIN!”

An Escape from Reality: Onto Cagayan Province
Cagayan is a province of the Philippines in the Cagayan Valley region in the northeast of Luzon Island. It is richly endowed with mineral and forest resources. Picturesque beaches, cavernous caves, verdant valleys, thunderous waterfalls, swift rapids, breathtaking vistas are the initial Cagayan's nature's delights and wonders. English and Filipino are widely used and spoken in Cagayan. Predominant local languages are Ilocano, Ybanag, Ytawes and Malaueg.
Last December 2, 2019, my cousin, ate Michelle, asked me if I wanted to come with her there and spend our Christmas break with the family. We also used to live there when I was a child, so this will not be my first time going. I talked to my parents and even begged them to allow me to go, and after days of convincing, I finally got them to say yes.
Going there from Manila will take you a 14-hour long drive. Three bus lines ply their route to Cagayan, namely, GV Florida, Victory Liner, and Everlasting. We made an early reservation to GV Florida because it's the holiday season and numerous people will probably visit their provinces. The bus fare is 1000 pesos. However, I had my student's ID with me. Thus, I got a discount, and I only paid 800 pesos. When I packed my things, I brought a lot of clothes because I was expecting to go to different places.
Our trip was last December 20, 2019. The bus left at 5:30 PM and we arrived at Pattao, Buguey at around 6:30 AM. During the trip, I listened to songs from local Filipino artists such as Eraserheads, Hale, and Cueshe to set my mood. There are 3 bus stops, giving the passengers a chance to eat dinner and breakfast. One of the food chains we saw at one of the stops was the Pink Pantry. It is owned by GV Florida, and the setup was close to a carinderia store. They have many dishes that are displayed in front, and you'll have to pick in there. They also have a small grocery shop where you can purchase some snacks and refreshments. By the time we got there, my stomach was already screaming for food. With this, we fell in line quickly. I ordered beef caldereta, while my cousin ordered pork adobo. The food was excellent; however, for a student like me, I think it was too expensive. After finishing our meal, we had to run back to the bus because they were preparing to leave already.
Thankfully, we arrived at our destination. As I stepped my feet outside, I already felt the cold breeze that I have been longing for. The ground was wet, so it must've rained the night before. Usually, the weather here is rainy every December to January, so it's better to go here during the summer. The bus dropped us to Pattao Public Market, or they call it the plaza. From there, we rode a tricycle going to our house. Seeing our house once more made my heart jump into excitement. We ate our breakfast and went again to the plaza to buy something to eat for lunch. As we went to the marketplace, I noticed that it was still clean, and I even saw some familiar faces. They also called me by my nickname, which is Totoy. Here, you'll see huge varieties of fresh vegetables and meats. Outside, there are also some "ukay-ukays" where its price ranges from 10 pesos to 100 pesos. People started coming, filling the place with a whole lot of noise and crowd, since it's "palengke" day every Wednesday and Saturday. People are yelling, and I can already smell the stuffy stinking air of sweat.
Around 9:30 AM on the same day, me and my classmates from nursery and kindergarten went to Greenstar Park. It is located in San Vicente Road, Brgy. Bulala Camalanuigan, Cagayan. The entrance fee at the park is only 100 pesos per head, and the cottage rental costs 300 pesos. However, they offered a 50% discount because of the holiday season. Thus, we only got it for 150 pesos. Their pool is open from 8 AM to 8 PM every day. Like other swimming places, they are also strict with the attire. The employees of the facility aim to maintain the peacefulness and cleanliness of the area. The only recommended swimwear are white shirts and sandos, board shorts, cycling shorts, boxers, swimsuits or trunks, and rash guards. You can also rent a room here for as low as 1000 pesos and the whole place for special events such as birthdays and wedding receptions. I think it is an excellent place of relaxation for the entire family. The area is located near the main road, so going here will not be tricky. We went home at precisely 5:00 PM because we don't have a personal vehicle and the last trip of the jeeps in Cagayan is at 5:30 PM. Unlike in Manila, jeepneys are available 24 hours.
Another part of my vacation here is going to Aparri. It is a coastal municipality in the province of Cagayan. The city has a land area of 286.64 square kilometers which constitutes 3.08% of Cagayan's total area. It is the nearest place where you can find 711, Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Savemore, Mercury and a shopping center called NOVO. Going here will take you an hour or less, depending on the speed of the jeep. We've been to Aparri thrice. The first thing in our itinerary as we got here was to buy something for our Christmas celebration. We ate first at Jollibee; however, it was too crowded, and we had to wait an ample amount of time until there is an available seat. I ordered my favorite, which is a 2 piece burger steak. After we ate, we went to Savemore Supermarket and again, the place was filled with various people. The crowd is rushing to buy ingredients that they need for their Noche Buena.
On my second time in going to Aparri, I am with my cousins. We left the house at 3:00 PM, and we arrived at around 4:00 PM. Our primary purpose was to eat at Wings Crave. It was a small restaurant, and we ordered their famous unli-wings for only 215 pesos. They had rules that must be considered and followed, such as no sharing of food and no leftovers because you will be charged with 100 pesos. We had to hurry eating because the last trip of the jeeps was at 5:30 PM.
My third time going here was with my aunt and my cousin, ate Michelle. We went to buy the needed ingredients for our Media Noche. I got the chance to go inside Aparri Public Market and compared to the Market in Pattao, it is much bigger, and the people are much crowded. I got to buy fresh fruits like orange, grapes and kiwi for my grandparents. Then, we went to the "ukay-ukay". Here they also offer great discounts in their apparel, such as bags and tops priced at only 10 pesos. One thing that I had bought was a beautiful fitted red dress with floral designs. It caught my attention because it has its retro style vibes, and it seems to fit my size. After that, we went to Savemore once more. I tried filming something for my travel vlog inside; however, the guard approached me and said that it is not allowed. He even asked me in a respectful way, to delete the videos I took. We left at around 4:30 PM and arrived at 5:10 PM
My vacation here in Cagayan wouldn't be fun without the quality time I had with my cousins while going around Pattao. We drove using our e-bike to witness the beauty of nature much more. We also went to the homes of our childhood friends to have a talk with them for a while. Fun fact! They have a different term for streets here, which is zones. Even though I didn't get a chance to go to other places, I am still happy that I had time to relax with an air that is a light, silvery dream. Soft and pleasant like the scent of fresh-cut grass.
Aside from the things that I did and places that I went, there are also other attractions that you can visit here in Cagayan. First is Aguib beach or some people call it the Boracay of the North, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the northeastern part of the Philippine Map. It is located at Sta. Ana, Cagayan. The beach is known for its clear and pristine turquoise waters with powdery and fine white sand enclaved in a lush and verdant mountain which make up for the paradise that it is. Next, is Palaui Island, also located at Sta. Ana Cagayan. It is an island off its shore that offers so much. Palaui Island is made up of volcanic debris. It is home to a fishing community without electricity and commercial accommodation. Its main attraction aside from its beaches is the Farol de Cabo Engaño, an 18th-century lighthouse built by the Spaniards that guides ships entering and leaving Sta. Ana especially those using Port Irene and San Vicente, as well as those traversing the Babuyan Channel and the Philippine Sea.
Cagayan is my first home, and It never failed to astonish me by the beauty that it possesses. The people here are also amiable and welcoming. They give smiles to everyone, and they talk with respect. My visit here serves as an escape from my reality. I enjoyed every moment that I had, and I got to appreciate more the beauty of nature. My trip here made me realize to take a step back if there are too many problems to carry. Give yourself a rest and a time to reflect so that you will be inspired to go back and face all these challenges.

all of the fall questions ^_^
1: What is your favourite 'ber' month? (Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec)
I’d have to say...I dunno, it’s a tie between October and December! Maybe December though. Ugh, I dunno!

I don’t really LOVE food. So...like...pumpkin pie...?

My husband and I used to always go to the Disney Not-So-Scary Halloween party and dress up and stuff. But it’s really expensive this year so we might not go. I’m trying to make a tradition of always going somewhere up north (until I move there) at some point during fall each year.
6: Do you have any Halloween traditions?
Just watching certain movies, like Hocus Pocus.
7: What music do you like to listen to during fall?
Probably just more acoustic stuff. and The Monster Mash.

S’mores.
11: Hot chocolate or warm apple cider?

Well my middle name is Jade and I love the stars, so I decided to go with jaded stars.

27: Trick or treat?

28: Do you enjoy visiting graveyards?

29: What is your favourite fall memory?
Last year I went to North Carolina by myself, to a small town south of Asheville. I spent the weekend hiking in the forests and driving up the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was amazing. I saw leaves change for the first time. All my favorite memories of fall are from that weekend. It was magical.

33: If you could spend fall anywhere, where would you choose?
In a small town in the middle of the Blue Ridge Parkway, staying in a tiny cabin in the woods.
34: What's your dream Halloween outfit?
I really want to dress up as Snow White from OUAT, but from when she was a bandit in the forest. I want it to look really authentic though so it is a difficult job.

Top 10 Favorite things about EPCOT.
In honor of the forthcoming 35th anniversary of EPCOT Center, I felt inclined to list out my absolute favorite things about the park. Now bear in mind, given enough time, I could probably list 100 things but due to time and taking into account attention spans, we will suffice for 10. So ready or not, and in no particular order, here they are:
1. So EPCOT is one of my favorite parks to go on a play date with my young daughter, not just cause of the sweet attractions, but also because it has SO MANY air conditioned areas! Seriously, you cannot go far without finding a comfy spot to sit and relax in the cool AC.
2. Like many kids who grew up in central Florida (represent!), I went to EPCOT on a school trip and LOVED it. From the sea life to agriculture to new technology to various represented countries from around the world, I love that around every corner holds the possibility of an amazing educational experience. I sincerely hope that with the new changes in the works at this park that it never loses sight of inspiring the imagination or creativity through education.
3. This park is a speed walkers dream. Let me just say that once I retire I can totally see myself renewing my annual pass partially so I can exercise/walk around it!
4. I love love love Disney Park food. Everything from faux cheese sauce to fine dining and EPCOT is the best, most diverse smorgus board of food awesomeness in a variety of settings. One of my absolute favorite experiences was eating at La Hacienda for my husband and I’s anniversary, being brought complimentary champagne and watching the fireworks through their big bay windows with bellies full of tasty Mexican food.
5. Full disclosure, I have always had this vision of me living on a farm and residing in the cutest little farm house you ever did see, so it should be no surprise that Living with the Land is like my favorite ride at EPCOT. haha It’s peaceful and makes me want to magically develop a green thumb.
6. Canada. Let me make it simple: film starring comedian Martin Short, Le Cellier- aka The best steak house ever, along with the most amazing beer cheese soup, and flannel. Done, done, and done.
7. One of my favorite Disney days ever was going to EPCOT with my family the day after Christmas several years ago. It was cold (for Florida), rainy, and wonderful. Seeing all the lights, and unique, cultural pieces just entice you to wander in and out of every shop you see. Plus, the seasonal Candlelight Processional has become a tradition in our home and is a great way to ring in the magical season.
8. I have a bit of a traveling heart and I don’t do it nearly enough, but EPCOT helps tame that wanderlust spirit I have some times. I look forward to mingling and sampling some of the small pieces of the many cultural offerings the park has to offer, and then leave dreaming of getting my actual passport stamped there some day.
9. Three words: food and wine. Boom. This festival holds a special place in my heart since it played a significant part in the beginnings of my early hangs with my now husband. Our relationship/friendship was forged on late Disney nights, shrimp tacos from Mexico, and casual conversations about films and tv shows. Truth, this festival has the eats and you don't want to miss out. As if it couldn't get any better, the concerts! holy moly! Saw Hanson and Boyz 2 Men, for free might I add, and they blew my mind!
10. Spaceship Earth, both the ride and the symbol, both are iconic to me. It reminds me of the old WDW commercials where at the end you would see Mickey standing on top and waving goodbye. Its nostalgic, architecturally intriguing, and the ride is narrated by Dame Judy Dench which just seems to make your ears perk up and absorb the historical facts throughout the ride.
That’s it. That’s my 10! Let me know what you think and what your favorites are! With that said, I would also like to thank the Phoenicians. Ya know, cause they invented the alphabet which enabled me to write this post in the first place. ;)

Warning: This blog contains Game of Thrones spoilers!
On our third day in Ireland, my sister and I took the McComb’s tour of the Game of Thrones filming locations in Northern Ireland. I was reluctant to book the tour at first because it was 35 pounds per person; but my sister talked me into it. I’m glad she did because it was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve had while traveling. The tour office was right in the lobby of our hostel, which was extremely convenient. Between check in and boarding, we were able to get breakfast in a cafe that was also connected to the lobby of our  hostel. The Causeway Cafe actually had a whole menu of gluten free bagels! They were super delicious too, tasted just like normal bagels.
Our bus driver/ tour guide on the Game of Thrones tour, Troy, was hilarious! He had lots of great stories and jokes to tell throughout the trip. He was from Northern Ireland and spoke a lot about his experiences. He told us stories about the divide and The Troubles and he talked about travelers he has had on his buses throughout the years. I think my favorite of all his passenger stories was one about a old woman from Florida who showed up to his tour in a great big fur coat. Apparently this woman said to him, “Troy, if you were my husband, I’d put poison in your tea!” to which Troy responded, “Lady, if I were your husband, I’d drink the tea!” I can just imagine a tiny little blue haired woman with this giant coat and sunglasses sassing him around all day.
Carnlough Canal
Our first stop of the tour was at Carnlough Canal where Arya’s fight scene with the waif was filmed. This canal served as the Braavos canal, specifically the one that Arya jumped into after she was stabbed by the waif in season 6. There was a plaque stationed at the harbor explaining the scene, but just looking out at the walls and water, I was able to remember exactly which scene used this location. This location also saw an Irish flag waving in the winds of the Irish Sea. Given that this was British territory, the flag must have been an act of protest from those who felt allegiance to the country of Ireland.
Cushendun Caves
After a nice drive along the Antrim county coastal trail, we stopped at the Cushendun Caves, where Lady Melisandre gave birth to the shadow assassin. The sea was beautiful and smelled strongly of salt and pine. The stones on the beach were all deep reds and pinks, giving the beach a warm look despite the cold and rainy weather. The caves themselves were warm  in temperature, blocking out the wind and trapping in moisture from the salty sea air. Grass and moss grew on the stone that protruded from the earth and hung over the sides in whimsical strands of green and gold.
Ballintoy Harbor
Tumblr media
The next stop on our journey was Ballintoy Harbor. The bus parked up on a hill, next to a cemetery. With the grey skies and seas as a backdrop, the graveyard was nothing short of eerie. We walked down from the cemetery to the beach, past the cliff-side where Game of Thrones arguably most cringe-worthy scene was filmed. Ballintoy Harbor, being the main filming location for Pyke, was the setting of the ever so uncomfortable Greyjoy family reunion.  The beach in the harbor hosted another important scene for the Greyjoy family, this one just as stomach turning without all the incest. The waters here was where Euron Greyjoy was drowned and crowned King of the Iron Islands. Though not far from the Cushendun caves, the stones on this beach were all either black or white. The wet stones with such high contrast from each other were quite interesting against the grey beach with huge algae covered rock jutting up from the water.
Giants Causeway
Many of the places we visited were somehow related to the Iron Islands, seeing as next we visited the Giant’s Causeway, another Greyjoy filming location. The Causeway experience reminded me much of the Parthenon in Athens. The number of people taking pictures detracted from the beauty and the awe that I felt I should have been feeling. I caught myself jumping around the unique land formation with my phone in hand, not stopping to enjoy what I was seeing. It felt like a race to get the best photo possible. While I did get some great photos, the initial disappointment I felt in myself made me stop and really pay attention to my surroundings, to stop and take a minute to breathe and feel the location.
Fullerton Arms
We sat down for lunch at a Game of Thrones themed pub, Fullerton Arms. Back in February of this year, a few of the famous beech trees of the Dark Hedges, which were frequently used as the King’s road, fell during a storm. The set designers used the wood from the trees to carve intricate doors containing the sigils of the main Westerosi houses. Each of the doors were gifted to locations and establishments that contributed to the show, either as filming locations or housing and feeding cast and crew. The Fullerton Arms houses door number 6, the Targaryen door.
Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge
After the lunch, with dangerously full stomachs, we ventured to cross the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, from which Baylon Greyjoy fell to his death. The hike to the bridge was definitely much more intimidating than the bridge itself, but definitely worth the views. The closer I got to the bridge, the more nervous I grew. But once, we were actually at the bridge and saw how short and well maintained it was, the fear quickly dissipated. My biggest fear at that point was losing my glasses, but I made it across with them still sitting on my nose — and the view from the other side was even more spectacular!
Dark Hedges
We finished the day off with a trip to the Kings Road. Walking through those thousand year old beech trees really transported me to Westeros. It was easy to imagine myself pretending to be a little boy on my way to the wall or  clad in armor and smuggling Jaime Lannister to King’s Landing to free the Stark daughters.
The day itself was long and tiring. We did lots of walking through rain and mud, but it was truly the excitement that wore me out. By the time we got back to the hostel, I was ready for a nice rest in a warm bed. It was overall such a great experience to see these filming locations, especially since it was the natural beauty depicted in the show that drew me to Game of Thrones to begin with. And even after reading the books, I can agree that Northern Ireland was the perfect choice to depict Westeros and the Iron Islands.

Spring Training
A week from today I will begin a two-day road trip taking me from perpetually cloudy, often rainy, and unseasonably cold Portland, Oregon to 80 degree, generally blue-skied, and if the antics of their legislature are representative, reactionary Mesa, Arizona. The purpose of this odyssey is to spend three days attending the baseball rite of Spring Training, after which we will turn around and take another two days to return to a hopefully more hospitable homeland. These days I'm not a baseball fanatic, but this was not always the case. From the years of 11 to my mid-twenties I was a prototypical obsessed fan, perhaps more, and a trip to Spring Training would have been a dream come true. But a move to the Pacific Northwest meant baseball scores were at the back of the the sports pages box scores were nonexistent. The result was that little by little, starved for the moment to moment reporting of the Chicago papers, not to mention the endless conversations about the year’s Cub talent that then and now dominated all levels of Chicago society, my fandom faded. My youthful obsession was the Chicago Cubs, but all things baseball was a corollary love. I spent my summers in a vacation cottage just southeast of Chicago in Michigan City, Indiana and every Thursday around 11 o’clock I would make a pilgrimage to the small grocery store a quarter mile down the hot asphalt road, barely wide enough for two cars. The purpose of my walk was to purchase a copy of the week’s Sporting News. If the magazine delivery was late I’d wait until the News arrived bundled up with the week’s other deliveries and crowd the store’s owner until he found my Sporting News. In those days the Sporting News was almost all baseball, and the magazine covered not only the Major Leagues but the minors all the way from the Class D leagues through the C, B, A, AA, AAA leagues. I learned a great deal of western US geography from studying the Cub affiliates in those leagues following the hoped for future stars as they made their way to the Majors. From east to west, there was the class C St. Cloud, Minnesota, Roc, where I followed the young future Hall of Famer Lou Brock and his league leading .361, the Class A Wenatchee, Washington Chiefs, and the AAA Salt Lake City, Utah Bees. I followed minor league baseball the way I now follow presidential politics. Being a Cub fan, the team was then mired in the middle part of their hundred year plus run of futility, by the end of the season there wasn’t much Cub news to cheer so my favorite issue was the one that came out at very beginning of the season when hope could tip the scales of rationality. The issue included predictions and the rosters of all the 16 major league teams then in existence. Each team had a roster of 25 so there were 400 major leaguers, whose positions, birthdates and hometowns were listed. Probably diagnostic of my incipient narcissism the first thing I’d do was to pour over the list looking for players with whom I shared a birthday. During the years I searched for a match I found only one, George Brunet, a lefty, like me, who pitched primarily for the Angels with a singularly unimpressive lifetime 69-93 record. I was accordingly jealous of my brother who shared a birthday with the talented Cleveland fast baller Herb Score whose career was tragically derailed by line drive to the eye off the bat of Yankee Gil McDougal. Today someone would tell you the exit speed of the batted ball. I was still studying the birthdates when sometime in 1964 or ‘65 the first player who was younger than I made the majors, although I don’t recall his name. This led to an epiphany of sorts. Of course I knew I was never going to be a major league baseball player, but nonetheless seeing someone younger than I on a major league roster made it clear that I was growing up, adulthood was sneaking up on me. Many years later on a lark, and with an eye to a weird kind of closure I looked up the date to find out the year there was no one as old as I still playing in the majors. That seminal event happened in 1995 when the 47-year-old Florida knuckleballer Charlie Hough retired. Knuckleballers play a long time, with Hoyt Willhelm played until he was 49 and Phil Niekro until he was 48. As odd as it sounds, I felt like I had completed a career as well. One path, untaken though it was, had played itself out. My youth was past. That weighty thought aside, I like to think I could have played those 30 years. As to my real playing career, I had almost none. I didn’t play in high school or college but one summer when I was in college encouraged by a friend who signed on with me I played about a month of semi-pro baseball. The team was made up primarily of former high school players who had hopes of catching on with a real minor league team and was managed by a former minor league catcher from the Pirate organization by the name of Ed Baily. Played is also a slight exaggeration, as while I went to practices, played in intra-squad games, pitched and took batting practice, shagged fly balls in the outfield, and worked out at first base, I never played a league game. When the season started in equal parts because of my obviously inferior skill set and the demands of my summer job roofing houses, I conveniently decided that it was impossible to barnstorm around the Midwest. My only regret is that I can’t apply the word “barnstorm” to any of my experiences.
