Holiday Fun At The Movies For All: People Flying And Singing Underneath The Lovely London Sky or People Fighting And Breathing Under The Hidden Seas or People Slinging And Jumping From Building in Spider-people filled NYC
So this is Christmas (or December major public holidays or the time of year where people decorate trees and buy too many useless things) and for those who keep the tradition of going to the movies that day because there is nothing else to do or just end up there because of the previous, then you are in luck this year because there truly is something for you and for me and the entire human race! Certainly it is, as usual, the time for the last high-end type award contenders to get squeezed as limited -or not - release just in time to qualify for shinny objects, like VICE or IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK; but these films are usually targeted to a very specific/niche market... Until they are not and the hype is believable! But we also get those G/PG (and rated PG13 for the sake of something probably not that shocking considering what tiny people under the age of 13 are exposed to on a daily basis...like if they take public transport! One can only hope MPAA will one day review their rating system and allow for the revival of serious R + movies for us "numb" & desensitized folk who casually dine in front of news images of wars, famines, oppression, crimes and co... But this is another subject for another day!)
So let's talk about these films for all; call it "family-friendly" or the ones that will make kids happy and grown-ups feel like happy kids, out on the big screen this Holiday season:
MARY POPPINS RETURN
Disney magic in all its all glory ✨
It heartily looks and feels like your perfect 2018 end-of-(another crazy, scary filled with nonsenses!)year holidays movie. From the "castle shot" (an obvious favorite cinematic moment of all time; as it is so dreamy and nostalgic, always reminding us that there is no place like home like a good ol' Disney classic movie), to the surrealism and homage to the original live-action/animation blend sequences, to the Disney's easter-eggs (so many of them + animals of course!), to the definitely "Mary Poppin-esque" quotes or ironic witty lines (Mary, particularly Blunt version, could easily be the missing horse-(wo)man of THE FAVOURITE !?), to the many whimsical musical moments making us smile inside or out,; MARY POPPINS RETURNS will not leave you indifferent to its charm Although, for the people truly found of or familiar with the original, the cast might appear not quite what it should have been, they nevertheless truly did a fantastic job!
Emily Blunt & Lin-Manuel Miranda had the right spirit and a perfect chemistry, the kids were pretty convincing and most actors delivered accordingly (humm...sorry but seeing Ben Wishaw in this role fresh from A VERY BRITISH SCANDAL is "a very British disturbing" lol!) and then... Meryl Streep. In the most bizarre turn of event - and accent😭- she came as Mary's cousin to remind us why she is the GOAT!
Not gonna lie but the songs were possibly not as "instant cult classic" as the ones originals (or let say LA LA LAND for the sake of comparing to modern classic!) but MARY POPPINS RETURN music will stay with you for long LONGGGG time and is certainly worthy of all the original score awards; PARTICULARLY 'Cover is not the book' and that soothing melody from 'Underneath The Lovely London Sky'! (well since people/voters forgot about ANNIHILATION this will have to do for score😜... But in terms of songs, sorry but 'The Shallow' - la la la la - gotta have it🎼)
MORAL OF THE STORY: W.A.T.C.H. I.T. And the kid within you will leave with stars in their eyes!!!
*Side note: The " Disneyfeast" would not have been complete without being able to see that LION LING (live action one!) on a giant screen...THE CHILLSSSSSS you guys. From "everything the light touches..." To "Aaaaahhh simabaya ...🎤" well u know the song😜 Seriously if you ever feel like there's nothing on this earth left to can bring you happiness ...Then know that next year THIS is happening ( and "OMDisney, we waited so long for this" Tim Burton DUMBO ! So movies like these will always be something we look forward to for comfort and joy)
AQUAMAN
What a beautiful and entertaining shenanigans of "blockbusters nonsenses" also offering the dual surprise of being a fresh take on superhero canon (somehow akin to RAGNAROK but fairly better - and with Kidman instead of Blanchett coming to steal the show😜) and an homage - or more like an "easter-eggs/callback fest" to famous action & fantasy films past and present (well, they even throw 'Pinocchio' - THE MOVIE - into that pot! How do you like that for copyright money Disney -who owns Marvel😜)
The movie starts quite with a promise of diversity; we got the protagonist the Aquaman being the embodiment of mixity of races and species from a white Atlantean (from Atlantis) mother (Nicole Kidman) and a Polynesian human father (Temuera Morrison). In addition, as his mother went back under water when is was a baby he lived with his Maori father on land and we would have hoped they would be more of his "earthling" heritage / culture at work and on display (instead of just a handful of nods and words) because apparently, under water only fair skin blonde or red head got to have human form... The rest are just "fish-people" or vaguely Asian looking oceanic-humanoid person... the hell?!!!)
Also not sure what to make of it but... well they went the "black pirate stealing things from white men way" not sure if this was by design or our wild imagination making this connection but why!? But hey, we are not to complaint as Yahya is obviously the better villain, or kind, because DC - like 99% of superhero movies - as a villain problem!
Not pointing fingers but Patrick Wilson's Orm: He is a perfectly capable actor, even possibly underrated (especially for his 00's films) but he did not really fit in this role. There are possibly 100s of other Nordic/scary Viking looking tall guy who could have play the part or also Aussie dude because they shot there and the "water / surfing connection" would have been bonus- and Orm is supposed to be the offspring of Kidman! (Also for "spectacle value" it might have helped to have a cliched looking buff surfer/biker bruh fighting against Momoa - instead of a grown-up whining slightly less sadistic King Geoffrey... But hey, many nonsenses happened in those 2 hours + !) On top of that, Orm lack of villainess was quite pronounced when playing next to Dafoe who is here playing against type as "a good one"! (to quote LMM 'the cover is not the book' but menacing look helps! Side note: some of us were left baffled as to how Willem "Van Gogh" Dafoe was cast and then decided to do this strange role... But at least he is playing a non villainous or crazy or unstable or psycho or anything other than a noble trident-Jedi-Master vizir!)
Then, there is Amber Heard's Mera: A little mermaid-esque heroine (who might have borrowed few tricks from STAR WARS usual heroines, and power from the Airbender people - except with water😭 She was quite good in this but lacking a certain je ne sais quoi, but her story and playing the more capable (intellectually and possibly physically) second fiddle to a less capable "but the one" hero/dude did not really help... Also many pointed out, visually something parallel to Aquaman would have been very welcome (but only fair skin blonde or red hair people get to be royals under the sea!) But hey, she sure gave Tom Cruise a literal run (on rooftop) for his money!!! Oh Hollywood surely needs a running lady, so maybe she could be that but she is probably going to go the Uma Thurman "model type turn action type" and mix it up with more serious or indie fair... (* Side note: The production went all the way to Marroco to shoot the desert scenes but did not even bother have one representative of this part of the world on screen... Was Boutella - Hollywood go-to-Maghrebian-lad not available lol!? She would have been an AWESOME badass killer Mera by the way! AND add to that diversity factor studio are desperately looking for as if there is no capable actor from all corners of the world and background on this planet! ) Now can we focus on Nicole "can do no wrong" Kidman AGAIN! Because that woman never cease to amaze in everything, all the time! And boy oh boy if she does not work harder than anybody - fair enough she must also get more opportunities than other - not content of being a serious best/supporting actress contender in like 2-3 movies this year, she has to come here and still the show! Although her story arc is somehow dubious she went all in with the bonkers (as did Blanchett in RAGNAROK) and looked flawless...
Now let's list the obvious (or maybe just imagined!) nods...with obvious SPOILERS!:
- First Aquaman fought people wearing POWER RANGERS type robot costume. - Then he also fought in few LORD OF THE RINGS epic like battles (and apparently Atlantis royalty borrowed some costumes from there! More on this later) - Many will realize that a good third of AQUAMAN happened down under the sea where it is actually AVATAR-land 😉 - At some point there is a tsunami wave that will make 2012 (remember that movie) proud! It also highlighted pollution/man-made global warming so win-win! - Oh and our heroes got on a boat during a storm and they near recreated a scene from that Clooney Wahlberg movie (remember this one too!?) - Also throughout the film there were many many obvious mythology ties; from Greco-Roman legends (with a setting in Italy nonetheless) with nods to Hercules, to the Arthurian legend (you know when you are being "the one true king" capable of getting a thing from a guarded place or from something/someone) Or when Aquaman goes to fight hydra like creatures of the deep sea, while completing some sort of Hercules laborsto prove he is the proper hero - in a scene that seems inspired by Disney LITLLE MERMAID's Usula cave (seriously those sea snakes/eels were scary AF in the animated classic and, here in AQUAMAN, they managed to recreate that vibe but with 100s of zombie-like people from Ursula's garden!) -Talking about Ursula, we got the titanesque octopus as a KING KONG / GODZILLA inspired "crustacean monster" rising from the sea! And it was quite visually impressive actually👍 - There were quite a few undoubtedly INDIANA JONES moments (how many is too many?!)
- Oh and also a trident got stolen from what look like the Night King from GAME OF THRONES (also some of us perceived few other GOT flavored moments!) - Ohhhh and in a blink and you'll miss it shot we got dinosaurs and nobody cared! (and on an island like in JURASSIC PARK) - We mentioned earlier Mera showing attributes of some of the (quite similar) heroines from "a galaxy far far away", but not only that, there were also some noticeable STAR WARS inspired moments. Well the war with fleets of ships in space visual BUT in the ocean! And a famous "vehicle" chases in canyons and more... - So that's about it until...Wait for it; Nicole Kidman showing up as a Blanchett LORD OF THE RING divine aura in an outfit borrowed from Cher after the last battle which served only and purely as a VFX show-off! AND A GREAT FANTASTIC JOB they did! Seriously, wondering if this is not the year's best visual effect (after ANNIHILATION of currrsssseee!)
MORAL OF THE STORY: We were expecting something akin to an 80/90s all fun & jokes kind of blockies and we got something mainly along those lines; and for better or worse we only got glimpses of Snyder/DC gloom&doom but coming from Wan were were expecting something a little more spooky maybe... Frankly, this is the only real letdown: knowing that this was directed by The guy who brought us some pretty solid scary or nightmarish stuff (SAW anyone!) but then he did not incorporate any of his horror expertise in this... AGAIN considering DC history for that "grimdark" it was a miss opportunity and it would have been most appreciated. Alas, at least we got an awesome scary dive in one sequence that will make claustrophobics feel something remarkably eerie in a, literally, one of the edge-of-the-seat scene that wowed some of the crowd member of a packed showing!
Talking about crowds...
The make up of the audience included an impressive amount of easily "over millennial-age" ladies who came to the first few sold-out showing of a superhero film! Maybe this fact should put the seed in someone's head that, since Evans is soon gone, a remake/sequel of Captain America as an old dude (Robert Redford?!.. Maybe one more time with feelings!) would not be a bad idea...(Especially for these ladies would as possibly-to-pretty-sure they will come en masses!🙊🙈🙉)
Also, if MARY POPPINS RETURNS or tripping the light fantastic ain't your jam than AQUAMAN will bring you an alternate more action-oriented but not less cheery holidays fun for all; as it is likewise not perfect in every single way but it delivers and keep its promises (tldr: You get what you paid for!) On another hand AQUAMAN is one of the most interesting and possibly one of the best solo superhero movies (behind the like of LOGAN and BLACK PANTHER along SPIDER-MAN INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE discussed below... and Yep it might be superior than "AVENGERS:THE END part 1 let's turn people to ashes in this one so they come back for part 2 the real end"!) There is truly nothing like it out there so much as it replicates all that there is out there in its own fashion; It is bonkerz that way and it knows it! The ultimate proof of this statement will be fond in that out of nowhere "Pitbull 'Africa' bad take"! - Why? Because why not! And that is basically AQUAMAN moto and the reason for you to go and see it...because why the hell not! ;)
SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE
Even if you are not much of a Spidey fan or unfamiliar with the arachnean hero this SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE is truly one one of the best surprise of the year and definitely in the 2018 top 50 (maybe even 30 with if it was like the first act the entire time... until “the villain”silliness comes in and makes the movie a bit boring/deja-vue or losing its punch ...more on that later.) This film is without a doubt more than meets the eyes and will make you think about a lot of things, hence here are some of the many thoughts:
1. Being the last Marvel comic/superhero film of the year makes this a good time to reflect on what happened this year in a “geek recap of 2018 way" (just kidding!) But one cannot but concur that being a cinephile in this day and age means becoming truly invested in super-heroes or comics-inspired-movies and for us moviefolks that will be the late Stan Lee biggest achievement/impact on our lives (also yes we should never forget that Nolan and before him Burton “forced” our arty/indies' hands in this initiation🎬 But they were “the exceptions” whereas now it is A billion dollar thing that rightfully deserve awards and all!)
2. Okay, let's talk about that opening first act, because it was straight up dope! Setting the mood for a very contemporary flick (maybe even "woke" joinning the "woke-naissance"list!) it gave us something fresh, relatable, joyfully putting a smile on our face and making us laugh out loud in theater (even for those of us who usually "don’t lol" easil). This animated Miles Morales Spiderman deserve a best actor nomination just for his introduction! SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE is timely, relevant using A LOT of pop-culture references in wise, non-gratuitous manner that was refreshingly unexpected. So it was great and “real” at the same time offering a silly-like-fun, as if straight from a DEADPOOL playbook!
3. So NIC CAGE Is in this! BUT also 'Paperboi' is in it for the greater good (what a year for Brian Tyree Henry!) and Mahershala too! From LUKE CAGE to this, he is getting that sweet Marvel 💰! If only they also brought in someone like this year second best "TV" villain aka "dem call me Bushmasta Bushmaster " from LUKE CAGE season - a.k.a. the last?! - Well second only behind D'onofrio Fisk from DARDEDEVIL season 3 - a.k.a . the last?! - *Side note with side eyes: how did all the awards forgot to nominate his scary as freak Kingpin version?????😔 This guy brought season 3 from meh-to-now-we-binging😜!
Which bring us to...
4. The only seriously annoying problem with SPIDER-VERSE: the villains (yep AGAIN!). They are not really doing anything- which is something we’re getting accustomed to with Avengers & co... The recurring issue with those otherwise compelling comic movie is that they cannot make it too scary or real bad because they want the kids (and their parents $$$):sad guess... Lovers of dark stuff dreaming of a world filled with R rated "actual films where people fight" will have to stick to the somehow efficiently fear-inducing Nolan or Netflix stuff!) But seriously when the fights happened in SPIDER-VERSE and baddies went bad, it was just confusion and it wasn't too good; it felt like nothing was really at stake (or everything was just for show) which is a shame as this film could have easily been in a 2018 top 25 if they took a more serious approach to their bad men & women (instead of top 30-50) Well, charge it to the fact that they needed to be “cartoonish” - but as Spiderpig said 'what’s wrong with cartoon?' - and not scary BUT at least a spookily delicious music did the trick in a Zimmer-esque sound of doom & gloom.
Which bring us to...
5. That SOUNDTRACK! It felt like Shameik Moore brought that GET DOWN old-school flavor feel and the boogie with him! First we we started the year beign treated to the sound of Wakanda (forever!)and now this👌Well well well Marvel is gettin’ jiggy with it 🎼
Which bring us to...
6. Seriously it appears that (to some extent) we are getting somewhere with representation! Now black and brown boys get at least 5 superheroes they “can look up to” AND 3 of them had solo movies this year; so add Miles Morales Spideran, Athur Curry Aquaman and T'Chala Black Panther to superheroes of color getting their due ( Also BLADEEEE yippee ki yay #neverforget) Sure for every BLACK PANTHER there is an ANT-MAN or for every SPIDERVERSE there will be a DEADPOOL (and for every AQUAMAN there will be a Joker movie?!) but it is still better than the alternative....Soooooo but now how about we do the same for the women?! Well we have the ladies of Wakanda (forever ) and Valkyrie... But can we get a proper poc lady front & center other than WONDER WOMAN .... Hum considering ScarJo Widow is still not getting her due we might have to wait... for Carol Denver! (Yes also we will always have Halle Berry no matter what!) So now we are waiting for those "other" to be represented proper on scree for all to bear witness. Sure Miles Morales is latino but can we get more, and seriously do we only have to get the ladies of SHIELD (a show most of us stopped watching by now...but kuddo for their clear effort toward diversity) for Asian representation😒 ( or supporting Asian/middle eastern sidekick from the Netflix show...) Well it is no surprise that #representationmatters for real y’all ✊
7. Okay so despite not being consistent is SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VEERSE the best animated feature of the year?! It is just too bad the 3D was not really well used; save for maybe 3 scenes it could have as well be 2D...which is a shame as it was truly vibrant and mesmerizing at times.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Even if you have no plan /interest in seeing SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE really consider giving it a try, and if you do, then let’s keep on breaking the box office and telling the film industry something by making a statement with your wallet!

This week I’ll be reviewing another one of my favorite shows called, “Burn Notice.” Burn Notice is about a former spy named Michael Westen who got burned and now dedicates himself to finding the person who burned him. Michael is completely under the radar with only his on and off girlfriend, his mother, and his friend Sam. Throughout the series, Michael and his crew encounter many dangerous situations that help him get closer and closer to finding out the answers to the numerous questions Michael has. This show no longer airs new episodes, it ended in 2013. Burn Notice is a mixture of action fiction and drama. The show is very action packed. With every episode, there is a new case for the crew to crack. The crew goes on treacherous missions that often put the characters lives at risk. It is a drama because even when Michael is put in these dangerous situations, he still faces issues with his friends and family. Not only that, he also faces internal conflict. The show has a good balance of drama and action. The episode I will be reviewing is season 5 episode 1 titled, “Company Man.” In this episode, Michael went after the person who burned him. Michael was so determined to get answers as to why this happened to him, that he would stop at nothing to do so. He managed to get the CIA to partner up with him to catch this person. They found a guy named Hector. He was undercover pretending to be an I.T. guy named Tim. Hector was working for the person who burned Michael named John Kesler. Michael questioned Hector until he gave him all the information. He found out that John’s headquarters was located in Venezuela. Michael and his crew traveled there with the CIA. He pretended to be an ally of one of the soldiers who was securing an area of where John was. There, he convinced the soldier to schedule a private meeting with John. It wasn’t too long before Michael’s true identity was uncovered. This put Michael, his crew, and the CIA in danger. Together, they somehow managed to take down John’s security and get to where he was. Michael prepared himself to get all his questions answered. Unfortunately, Michael was still left wondering when him and a CIA agent found John lying on the floor dead. He had shot himself before Michael could get to him. Michael was devastated because he was never going to get the answers he so desperately needed. Overall, I really love watching this show. I love the action and and how every episode is something different. Something that the episodes do have in common is that each one is suspenseful and intriguing. Like I said in one of my previous posts, I wouldn’t pick an old show to review if I didn’t like it. It is a great series. I never get bored of it. I give this show a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I urge you to watch this show. I hope you enjoyed reading about Burn Notice!

Carry On My Wayward Daughter
(What happened to Stephanie Brown’s Baby) (Felicity Smoak Fanfiction)
Stephanie Brown: Spoiler/Batgir6/Robin#4 Submitted to: DC.Comics August 11,1992 Mothers Name: Crystal Brown Fathers Name: Arthur Brown (Cluemaster) Daughter: Un-named
Growing up Stephanie had a hard family life that consisted with her mother being addicted to pain killers and being in a depressed state constantly, her father "The Cluemaster" spent most of his life in jail. Stephanie's mother sided with her father with everything even his criminal activities. During this time Stephanie had a friend that was eight years older than her and she would go stay with her when things weren't going well in her home. This person was someone that Stephanie trusted with everything and anything. She was like a mother figure to her more so than her own mother. Stephanie had kept their friendship a secret from everyone so she wouldn't get hurt by anyone involved with her father. Her friends name was Dana Stokes.Stephanie was ashamed of her father's criminal activities and lived with the shame of having a criminal as a father. This fact made her family life terminal.
Stephanie created a suit her self and named it "Spoiler" to keep him in jail. Stephanie started to wear her suit and patrolled Gotham City at a young age of fourteen. In the midst of her patrolling she met Robin, Tim Drake, also the sidekick of Batman. Stephanie at this time did not know the true identity of Robin. Batman didn't like the idea of her being in this dangerous environment and told her to put the suit up he thought she was to young.
Stephanie made the decision of not to listen to Batman. Though the many times of seeing Robin during her patrols she began to have feelings for him. Robin and Stephanie went to the same school without realizing who they were. Since Robin's father felt like he was not taking care of his responsibilities, he sent him to a private school outside of Gotham City. While away from Gotham Robin met a girl named Adrian and eventually she became his girlfriend. After long period of time he came back to Gotham but with Adrian by his side; this made Stephanie very jealous. But after seeing Stephanie back in Gotham their relationship rekindling. Robin told Stephanie his true idenity as Tim Drake and Stephanie told Robin her's as well. Which led Tim to breaking up with Adrian and dating Stephanie.
Through their relationship Tim would leave Stephanie for periods of time to go back to school. Tim's hectic schedule had made Stephanie upset. During one of the periods while Tim was gone Stephanie had met a guy named Dean (last name unknown) at school. During this time Stephanie was fifteen years old. Though her feelings for Tim were present she did'nt know if he was going to return so she started dating Dean. After the Catactlysm that revolved around Gotham City Dean left never to be seen again. Although after he left Stephanie found out she was pregnant with Deans baby. Since Dean wasnt present for her to tell him she decided to tell Tim of her pregnancy, she needed a friend and at this time Tim was back in Gotham. (some people say that the baby was Tim's but that was never proven).
Stephanie confiding in Tim that she was pregnant with her former boyfriends baby. Tim made a promise to be by her side through her pregnacy. He would do anything a father would do.Although Stephanie was very excited to have her baby and to have Tim by her side she never gave much thought to what her life as Spolier and what the outcome for her baby would be. During the time of her pregnancy she stayed with Dana Stokes because she didnt feel her family should know about her baby because of their criminal activities and the possible effects it would have on her child. As her pregnancy was coming to a close Tim had to leave for a while and this made Stephanie uneasy. On the day of July the 24th 1991 Stephanie had gone into labor; worried that Tim wasnt going to be by her side he showed up much to her surprise. Tim stayed by her bedside though the entire delivery as did Batman. On this day Stephanie has given birth to a baby girl. She was very overjoyed with her new baby.
That night Stephanie had a dream that her baby was in danger of being taken by villians. To Stephanie's dismay and fear for her baby's life she decided to give her baby up for adoption which came with a very broken heart. This was very hard for a girl at the age of sixteen to give up something so precious, but she thought her baby girl could have a much better life than the one Stephanie could give her. As she explained her plan to give her baby up for adroption Tim agreed to her decision he supported her.Stephanie had made a decision that she didnt want her baby to be adopted from someone she didnt know. Her choice was her most trusted friend, Dana Stokes, to give her baby to her. She ask Dana to come see her at the Hospital also ask Batman to be there as well.Stephanie asked Dana if she would take her baby as her own she explained it would involve many life changes. Dana's answer was yes and she said "I love you like my own daughter. I would be more than happy to take care of your child. I will consider her as my own as i do you." Dana Stokes Stephanies reasoning to have Batman there was because he has many resources to create a new identity for Dana and the baby and Batman agreed.Stephanie had told Dana "I don't want to know your new identity, where you will live, after you leave here the baby is yours. She is your daughter because i dont want her to be in danger I want her to have a better life. Batman helped Dana with her new identity. Her new name became Donna Smoak the baby's name became Felicity Megan Smoak. Donna had taken Felicity to Las Vegas, Navada. Batman is the only one who knows their wherabouts, because he had promised Stephanie that her baby would not want for anything. He would always make sure her baby was happy and safe.
Donna went to work as a Cocktaill Waittress at one of the Cosino's. When Felicity was two years old Donna met a man by the name of Noah Kuttler. He was very inteligent in Computer Science Cyborg Security and Hacker you might call him a genius. Him and Donna fell in love and he fell in love with Felicity took her and loved her as his own. Noah taught Felicity everything he could about Computer's at an early age. Things started getting bad between Donna and Noah. They disagreed on the fact that he was now useing his Computer skills to be a criminal. Donna thought long and hard about how Stephanie gave up her daughter to keep her safe. Donna also loved Felicity to much to bring her up in this. So when Felicity was at the age of seven Donna left Noah and her and Felicity were on thier own again. After some time Felicity has finished High School at the early age of sixteen.Felicity made a decision that she didnt want to spend her life as a Cocktail Waitress she wanted more out of life. With so much knowledge in Technolgy; she decided to attend MIT. Felicity graduated from MIT at the age of nineteen with a Master Degree in Computer Sciences and Cyborg Securitys she was also a fluent Hacktivist.
Felicity went to work for Queen Consolidated in the I.T. Department at the age of 20 years old. Being her nosey little self when Felicity had to take paper work to Moria Queen's office she would look at the picture of Oliver Queen. Felicity talking to her self about how cute he was but knowing that Oliver Queen had been in a shipwreck and never found. The only thing is not knowing Oliver had been stranded on an island and was there watching her as he had to get infomation for Amanda Waller. Felicity brought a smile to Oliver's face that day and he didnt get to many of those.Later on Oliver Queen was found and came back to Starling to honor his father's wishes to save the City.
He became the Hood a vigilante he found out in his endeavors he couldnt do this alone he needed help.Oliver recruited Jhon Diggle his Driver and Bodyguard. Sometime after that he needed help with a Lap Top he took off Deadshot a vilian. He thought about that the IT girl he saw in Moria's office he went to Felicity and she helped him. After many times of asking for help and the trust Oliver had for Felicity he also recruited her to his team. This was the begining of as we know the OTA. After all this time Oliver is now the Green Arrow after working together for 4 years the trust, respect, and admiration becoming a couple and yes love and even engagement. Oliver and Felicity are no longer this couple that we all loved. Because of the lost trust and the lies a love story like no other is over.
During all these years of fighting and working behind that Computer Felicity is starting to feel the affects of some big decisions she had to make that caused the death of 10,000 people. Lost loves all this in the hands of Damien Darke. His shooting that caused her paralysis the killing of her friend Laurel Lance (aka Black Canary). And really a part of her breakup with Oliver. Felicity would never leave Oliver to fight this war alone. Now a new year has started and thier fighting a new villian he are she goes by the name Prometheus
This villian has caused so much pain to her teamates and her. By staging Dective Malone a man she had been dateing so Oliver would kill him. The thing is Felicity wants revenge on Prometheus for what he has done to Oliver, Malone her teamates and herself. She doesnt blame Oliver for Malone's death I dont believe Felicity loved Malone but I think she did care for him.I believe she still loves Oliver very much and will always no one will ever replace him in her heart.
Felicity has never been told the truth about her real mother Stephanie Brown . But you can see trates of Stephanie in Felicity not just she looks exactly like her. But her wanting and needing to save the City and the people in it.Stephanie Brown has been injured very badly by the hands of Black Mask. With Batman by her bedside Stephanie asked him if he would find her child and give her the Mantle of Spoiler the only thing she has for her daughter is her Legacy. Batman vowed to her he would do this and he would always be there for her child. Sometime in late October 2016 Stephanie Brown dies at the age of 41.
Now Batman has to keep his promise to Stephanie to give Felicity the Mantle of Spoiler. Batman knows exactly where Felicity is and knows she has been working with the Green Arrow. To protect the people of now Star City Batman could not be more proud of Felicity he knows she deserves the Mantle of Spoiler.
He is also considering the Batgirl Mantle that would make her Batgirl#7. If she wants this Mantle it is hers and it will draw her away from Team Arrow .This being the reason to train mentally and physically and it may cause her to do some things that are Morally Questionable. Because Felicity is still Hell bound on making Prometheus pay for what he did to Oliver and Billy. I believe she is Spoiler I also believe she is Batgirl#7.Felicity will still feel like Donna is her mother and Noah is her father with no regret. Stephanie made the wright decision that day. The life that Donna made for Felicity has made her into the person we all know. So this is what happen to Stephanie's baby. Felicity Smoak we always knew there was something missing about her back story.

off the rack #1245
Monday, January 14, 2019
Sorry this is going out later than usual. It's freezing outside this morning -18 degrees C (or 0 degrees F for all you non-metric folks). A good reason to stay under the flannel sheets and down comforter a couple of hours longer.
We had a National Geographic moment here yesterday when a hawk managed to capture a male cardinal right at our bird feeders. They are both beautiful birds and the hawk was only doing what comes naturally but it's still traumatic to witness the circle of life being played out right outside your window. Penny saw the raptor fly off with its bright red meal clutched in its talons.
X-23 #8 - Mariko Tamaki (writer) Diego Olortegui (pencils) Walden Wong (inks) Chris O'Halloran (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). X-Assassin part 2. Laura and Gabby rescue their "sister" from the bad guys. Whether the X-Assassin appreciates it is still to be determined. I like this straight forward story where the girls are trying to do the right thing and the villain is clearly defined.
Thor #9 - Jason Aaron (writer) Mike del Mundo (art) VC's Joe Sabino (letters). This lead up to "The War of the Realms" features Roz Solomon and it's great. Sometimes I'll read a comic book with a lot of writing and wonder partway through when is it going to finish? This time each word balloon and caption just carried me along as Roz fights a frost giant and gathers important intel as an Agent of Wakanda. I loved the little scene with ex-boyfriend Thor.
Domino #10 - Gail Simone (writer) David Baldeon, Michael Shelfer, Alberto Alburquerque & Anthony Piper (art) Victor Olazaba, Ed Tadeo & Michael Shelfer (inks) Carlos Lopez (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Soldier of Fortune conclusion. The team up with Longshot ends, tied up with a big fat bow. I found the pacing of this story to be too fast. The good guys go to the Mojoverse to see if they can heal Longshot, fight through an army of guards and get into the hospital where a doctor cures their friend. Then it's back to their own universe and a long nap. All in 20 pages. They glossed over the fact that both Domino and Longshot have a luck power, which was what made me want to keep reading this story. I would have liked more depth. I'm also not a fan of art by committee. I don't mind a couple of artists working on an issue but four different styles is too jarring visually for me.
Young Justice #1 - Brian Michael Bendis (writer) Patrick Gleason (art) Alejandro Sanchez (colours) DC Lettering (letters). Yay Young Justice. When I saw the ads for the new Bendis books I was most excited to see this teen team. I loved the old series written by Peter David. I am so happy to see Impulse/Bart (RIP Mike Wieringo), Robin/Tim, Superboy/Conner, and Wonder Girl/Cassie back on the racks. It's going to be neat to see how Amethyst, Jenny Hex and Teen Lantern fit into the team. This intro is a pulse-pounding fight between the teen heroes and warriors from Gemworld. I probably would have read this no matter who drew it but Patrick Gleason makes this new book an automatic add to my "must read" list.
Criminal #1 - Ed Brubaker (writer) Sean Phillips (art & letters) Jacob Phillips (colours). Meet lowlife Teeg Lawless fresh out of prison and already in the hole for 23 K. How's he going to pay that off? You'll find out if you stick with this story of a hardened criminal. I love how Ed Brubaker writes about these extraordinary ordinary people and Sean Phillips is perfect for this slice of noir life.
Captain Marvel #1 - Kelly Thompson (writer) Carmen Carnero (art) Tamra Bonvillain (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Yep, it's another number one for Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and you can jump right in and follow her new adventures without missing a beat. You know there's a Captain Marvel movie starring Brie Larson hitting the big screens in March right? I've followed Captain Marvel ever since she was a he in 1967 wearing the green costume with the fin on his helmet. Carol is my favourite character to use the moniker. This first issue is a standard introduction with the requisite super hero fight where Carol saves the city from a giant monster with the help of another of my favourite super heroes, Spiderwoman. Nice to see Jessica back on the racks. The twist at the end will surprise fans expecting another boring super hero comic book as Captain Marvel finds herself leading a whole new crew of do gooders. I'm going to stay tuned.
Batman #62 - Tom King (writer) Mitch Gerads (art) Clayton Cowles (letters). Knightmares part 2. This is a very intense fight between Batman and the villain Pyg. The last two pages makes this issue more than what it seems.
Die #2 - Kieron Gillen (writer) Stephanie Hans (art) Clayton Cowles (letters). Die is not just the singular for dice but it's also the name of the place that five former Dungeons and Dragons players find themselves trapped in. It's a very scary place and I think their quest to get home will ultimately fail. I'm sure some of them will die in Die. I wish I liked this more but none of the characters appeal to me and I find the story depressing. This fantasy with real life characters can go on without me.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 - Tom Taylor (writer) Juann Cabal (art) Nolan Woodard (colours) VC's Travis Lanham (letters). I was hooked on this new Spider-Man book as soon as I saw the names in the credits. Tom and Juann are in my top five list of writers and artists and they didn't disappoint me. Check out their X-23 story that just hit the racks as a trade paperback. Everything you need for a good comic book is here. You've got a little bit of super heroic action, mysterious bad guys, a damsel in distress and two little kids with glowing eyes on the last page to make you want to read the next issue right away. You have to wait until January 23 for that though. I know some Marvelites have complained that Marvel's new number ones are priced higher at $4.99 US but this one has a back-up story worth the extra buck. Peter Parker's Aunt May has been around since day one and has faced many threats. This latest one by Tom Taylor (writer) Marcelo Ferreira (pencils) Roberto Poggi (inks) Jim Campbell (colours) & VC's Travis Lanham (letters) might just break the two of them. If you've stopped reading Amazing, Friendly Neighborhood is a good replacement.
Prodigy #2 - Mark Millar (writer) Rafael Albuquerque (art) Marcelo Maiolo (colours) Peter Doherty (letters). I love this kind of pure fantasy where the hero is a super intelligent guy with unlimited resources and the bad guys are pure evil. Showing the villains hunting children with rifles leaves no doubt. The threat is pure science fiction and the stakes are impossibly high. This is the kind of story that keeps me wanting to read every issue.
Man Without Fear #2 - Jed MacKay (writer) Stefano Landini (art) Andres Mossa (colours) VC's Clayton Cowles (letters). Oh, so that's what happened. Matt was hit by a truck while saving a kid. That's why he's lying in a hospital crippled to the point where he has decided to retire Daredevil. This issue's narrator was a surprise and made me wonder if they're going to resurrect this character again. Jed has done a good enough writing this weekly mini so that I want to keep reading to see how Matt recovers to don the devil costume again.
Avengers #12 - Jason Aaron (writer) Ed McGuinness & Cory Smith (pencils) Mark Morales, Karl Kesel & Scott Hanna (inks) Erick Arciniega (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). S.H.I.E.L.D. is gone. Now we have the Agents of Wakanda. This issue introduces some of those agents. They're a mix of misfits and oddballs. I like the I.T. guy and the guy out in space. Ka-Zar is a surprise but I like him too because I hope to see Zabu soon. These Avengers are dealing with Namor and his Defenders of the Deep but also another threat coming out of Transylvania. I like who they recruit to deal with the vampires but I thought he was in prison. Nope, just checked. He got 3 years for tax evasion and was released in April 2013.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man #2 - Saladin Ahmed (writer) Javier Garron (art) David Curiel (colours) VC's Cory Petit (letters). I love the cover showing everything this young man has to juggle while living a dual life. Imagine trying to do it without a smart phone? I like that the Rhino doesn't have one just like me. So Miles and Rhino are trying to find some missing kids. The trail leads them to an old warehouse where they fight the bad guy but lose him. The good guy showing up on the last page will help them continue the search. Saladin must have gotten some writing tips from Brian Bendis to keep the audience panting for more.

The Characters: Ty and Nate
The gun blazing characters of Guns and Blood are lightly based on me, Newton Lilavois, and a friend of mine, Tim Yu. I was hanging out with Tim after a night of drinking and the idea of doing a comic about two weed heads came up. I thought that would be a crazy fun idea.
Then I figured hey why not base the characters on ourselves. You see by day Tim and I are I.T. consultants. But instead of I.T. consultants, the protagonists in the story would be “assets removal and protection consultants.” I’d mesh our working life as consultants with guns for hire types. I picture something similar to the assassins in the John Wick movies. A world with its own rules and lingo in the way they go about their professions.
The characters Nate Cadet (lightly based on me) and Ty Moon(lightly based on Tim) share some traits in common with each other. They both are straight up killers, weed heads, and womanizers. They’re both also a bit crazy. Nate is always on edge when he’s not smoking. He’s got a quick temper but controls his violent actions. Tim is a more relaxed guy but his violent actions are wild and sometimes unpredictable.
I’m currently exploring the idea of their origins. I’m toying with the idea of the characters having the same ethnic backgrounds of myself and Tim. Nate would have a Haitian background and Ty would have a Korean background. The main idea would be they’re both orphans of fathers who were high commanding officers under dictators in Haiti and Korea. But in doing the research the best years I could pull this off the killing of their fathers and family around 1987. The problem with that is that would make them in their early thirties. I wanted them around 27 years old. One solution would be to put the story 5-7 years back from the current time.
Ignoring the timeline, for now, I’m really liking the fact that they both are sons of evil men. They know this and they don’t want to be like their fathers. Yet, they both enjoy killing. They struggle with a terrible trait that they inherited and may not be able to fully control.
There’s another aspect I’m working on is their origins. I want it so that it was arranged that in case of their father’s death the children would be taken in by an organization that specializes in taking and protecting in children of murdered warlords, crime bosses and dictators and training them for revenge. But against the traditions of this group, Nate and Ty do not seek revenge on their fathers’ killers.
So far that’s the character profile and background I’ve developed so far. And it seems like a good enough place to start.

Isaiah Thomas is actually the perfect complement to the Celtics’ youth movement
Bet against The Little Guy’s adaptability at your own peril.
The Boston Celtics won Game 3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers without Isaiah Thomas, and put up a good fight in Game 4 on Tuesday. That followed a 46-point loss in I.T.’s final game of the season. With the Celtics selecting No. 1 in the 2017 NBA Draft and Markelle Fultz at the top of just about everyone’s board, the logic leads to a natural place. The Celtics’ future lies with Fultz and not Isaiah, right?
Tim Cato laid out the issue on Monday. Isaiah will be a free agent in 2018. He is a valuable trade commodity right now due to meager salary ($6 million) and All-NBA status. He will be 29 years old when he hits free agency, and paying very small guards $30 million or more per season -- as I.T. will command as an All-NBA performer — is usually frowned upon.
The thinking goes that the Celtics should move Isaiah for value now, and build around Fultz, Jaylen Brown, and the Nets’ 2018 first-round pick (likely to be a good one), while staying competitive with Al Horford, a potential max-salary pick-up in 2017, Jae Crowder, and some combination of the other role players and defenders currently on the roster.
Based on how Isaiah finished the regular season and performed through two-and-a-half playoff series, and given our growing understanding of his close relationship with Fultz, the right path for the Celtics might be to do nothing.
Here’s why.
Fultz’s affordability can offset the expense of Isaiah
It is a given that I.T. will be massively expensive beginning in 2018-19. He has yet to sign a truly big NBA contract, and he has gotten better every season. Barring a drastic regression or a serious injury, Isaiah will enter 2018 free agency with several teams willing to offer the max. He’s going to cost Boston a lot.
You know who won’t cost Boston a lot no matter how good he is? Markelle Fultz. The rookie scale has risen markedly in the new collective bargaining agreement, but the No. 1 pick is still only set to make $7 million next season. (“Only,” says the All-NBA guard making $6 million.)
High-performing players on rookie scale deals typically outperform their contracts by $10 million or more. If Fultz is as good as we think, by 2018-19 the Celtics could be getting high-level production from a player making just seven percent of the salary cap. (Superstars earn 30-35 percent of the salary cap at market.)
The affordability created by having high-level rookies like Fultz, Brown, and perhaps another 2018 draft star allows you to overpay others without triggering punitive luxury taxes. The cushion created by Fultz overachieving his contract can pad the space for Isaiah if he underperform his deal.
There’s only a logjam for one year
Part of the reason we hear so much about moving Isaiah is that Boston also has Avery Bradley (very good) and Marcus Smart (quite interesting). Does a team need four guards that good when there are holes to fill up front? Probably not, but they do play a lot of multiple-guard lineups.
It isn’t as if Bradley or Smart are locked up long-term. Smart is finishing his third season and is on schedule to be a restricted free agent in 2018. Bradley will be an unrestricted free agent in 2018.
Moving Isaiah almost forces you to pay Smart and/or Bradley (or another guard) big dollars to ensure Fultz has help. Would you rather pay Isaiah $30-35 million, Bradley $25-30 million, or Smart $20 million? You might pick Bradley — defense and shooting, it’s a hard-to-beat combination — but it’s really preference at that point. The bottom line is that none of the three major incumbents is going to be cheap in a year.
Fultz projects as a killer shooter and defender. Fitting him in with an elite scorer in Isaiah and an idiosyncratic cannonball like Smart could be the best move. Bradley would have strong value on the trade market, too: every teams could use him at the $8.8 million he’s due in 2017-18. Plus the restricted tag on Smart could help keep his price down, and ensure Boston has an opportunity to match.
The Celtics don’t really need to make this decision now, though. Boston isn’t so hungry for assets that moving one of the guards before the season is required. The front office can put off a decision on which to pay until the February trade deadline or even until free agency. As long as Boston commits early to Isaiah in July 2018 and doesn’t renounce Smart, the worst that can happen is that Bradley walks for nothing. You can survive that.
The upside to keeping them? Another really competitive season, and perhaps better luck against the Cavaliers in the playoffs.
Stop betting against Isaiah Thomas
Has a single bet against Isaiah ever paid off? We’re concerned a team as good as the Celtics can’t get further with Isaiah because of size, neglecting the fact that just about nobody believed Isaiah would be another more than Earl Boykins 2.0 in the NBA. He made All-NBA. He had one of the most prolific scoring seasons ever. Not for a little guy. Not for a No. 60 pick. For anyone.
Stop betting against Isaiah Thomas. You’re just going to lose.
Betting against Isaiah is a terrible business to get yourself tangled up in. It’s not like he’s entering his late 30s and the league is embracing a style that rewards length above all else. The modern NBA rewards speed (check), relentlessness (check), shooting (check), and vision (three-quarters of a check). It rewards length on defense, and that is a problem for Isaiah and the Celtics.
But the relative defensive weakness of their point guards hasn’t stopped the Warriors or Cavaliers from winning titles. Isaiah is smaller than Kyrie Irving, but is he any worse a defender? That’s doubtful. Stephen Curry has acquitted himself pretty well in recent years, but he still gets picked on (including by the Cavaliers). It happens. You trust Brad Stevens and a roster of gritfaced maniacs like Smart, Brown, and Crowder can survive it.
If you think Boston needs to move Isaiah because he won’t live up to expectations with a fat contract and a new co-star, you’re ignoring every lesson Isaiah has taught us. Stop betting against him. You’re just going to lose.

Isaiah Thomas and the Celtics have their moment
Ignore what’s left to come and appreciate the incredible accomplishments Boston has already seen over the past four years.
BOSTON -- Few things are as exciting in the NBA these days as Isaiah Thomas with the ball in his hands and a game hanging in the balance. It’s an astonishing thing to watch when every single person in the arena knows he’s going to try to score, and then he does it anyway.
Whether he’s driving into the teeth of the defense for corkscrew layups or unleashing shots from behind the arc, Thomas plays with such extreme confidence that the crowd begins to stir from the moment he makes his move. The anticipation builds and builds until it reaches its crescendo before the ball even goes through the hoop.
It was late in the third quarter of the Celtics vs. Wizards finale when Thomas really cranked it up. He had spent the day watching old Game 7s and this was the moment he craved. More than anything, Thomas wants the validation that comes with being a star. Not just the recognition of All-Star appearances and All-NBA nods, what Thomas desires are the ephemeral moments of transcendence when he is able to craft his legend.
Checking back into a 2-point game, he quickly went to work and got to the free throw line, tying the score in the process. Then he got loose in transition and nailed a couple of pull-up 3-pointers. The crowd, which is now his crowd the way it was Paul Pierce’s not so long ago, roared its approval, and that was essentially ballgame.
There were many moments still to play out in Game 7, including the best game of Kelly Olynyk’s career and numerous Marcus Smart Plays. (If there was a box score stat for PLAYS, Smart would be among the league leaders.) But the Celtics never trailed after I.T.’s outburst and now they are in the conference finals. Let that sink in for a moment.
They were 20-31 when Thomas arrived in 2015, joining a team devoid of star power and seemingly marking time until something better came along. Thomas gave the Celtics offensive life and a bravado that was perfect to begin their impossible task. Rarely has a player’s skillset and ambition met a more perfect match.
“It says a lot because nobody thought we’d be here this fast, especially when I got traded here,” Thomas said. “I don’t think anybody was thinking that. But the players on this team, from the first guy to the last guy, we believe in each other and we never give up. And we feel like we’re just as good as any team in the NBA.”
That notion will be put to the ultimate test when the conference finals begin against Cleveland on Wednesday, but there’s still an opportunity to savor the accomplishment and it shouldn’t go unnoticed. This was the team, after all, that hadn’t won so much as a single playoff series until a few weeks ago.
That the Celtics are a huge underdog against the Cavs wasn’t the point of this series against Washington. Validation and credibility were on the line here. The reckoning can wait for at least 48 hours.
Winning Game 7 gave their season legitimacy that clinching the best regular season record and beating the Bulls in the first round had failed to provide. Those were solid accomplishments, but one came giftwrapped courtesy of Cleveland’s lethargic close and the other was a little bit more work than people wanted to see from the top seed.
Beating the Wizards is a much a stronger line on their resume. At the very least, advancing to the conference finals represents the apex of what reasonable people believe this roster can achieve. Regardless of what happens at the draft lottery on Tuesday, or in the next round, or even into the summer, this was a moment to appreciate this collection of players at this particular time.
Two and a half years ago, the Celtics were a burned-out shell of a team whose various parts were sold off around the league. Over a two-month period, Danny Ainge executed five trades, sending out established veterans and bringing back picks and players with upside. While none of those deals were in the same roster-building class as the Nets trade, Ainge acquired Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Jonas Jerebko along with multiple picks and cap space flexibility. That gave them a foundation.
Over the next few years, Ainge’s draft picks -- Olynyk, Smart, Terry Rozier, and Jaylen Brown -- assumed important roles, while Avery Bradley blossomed into a reliable starter and team leader. Veteran free agents like Amir Johnson and then Al Horford were attracted to their improving situation. In the process, the Celtics became a playoff team and Thomas became a star.
Any doubt about that status was extinguished during this marvelous playoff run that included a 53-point masterpiece in Game 2. It turned out to be the most important game of the series and will for the moment stand as Isaiah’s signature accomplishment.
His Game 7 line was merely sublime, scoring 29 points to go with 12 assists against just two turnovers. It was the kind of brilliant floor game few thought he could play, especially in the hothouse environment of the postseason. Thomas thrives on such doubts, and the motivation of slights -- both real and perceived -- are never far from his thoughts.
“They didn’t give us a chance in this series,” he said. “They didn’t give us a chance when we were down 2-0 in Chicago. We got the No. 1 seed and they didn’t give us a chance. They don’t ever give us a chance and we just keep going. We don’t care about what others say.”
Thomas may be overstating his case a little, as he tends to do, but he’s right about one thing: They never really gave this team a chance. No matter what these Celtics were able to do, it was always viewed through the long lens of roster building as a prelude to something more meaningful and important.
There are always more lottery picks, free agents, and trade pieces lurking just around the corner to make the Celtics contenders again. All of that hope for the future had the effect of diminishing what they were accomplishing in the present.
Well, they’re contenders now. They’re underdogs to be sure, even with home court advantage, but there are 26 other teams who would trade places with what they have at this very moment. Even if it’s just for a day, they have that. And Isaiah Thomas has his Game 7, a final piece of validation on what has been a remarkable season.
