冨井大裕 「線を借りる」 Motohiro Tomii 2018.11.30 (fri) - 2019.1.25 (fri)

2018年11月30日（金）より、void+では冨井大裕の個展「線を借りる」を開催いたします。冨井は彫刻の新たな可能性を探り、様々な彫刻の形を提示してきました。作品を制作するその態度や行為、体験などそのものが作品として成立するかどうか、芸術作品となるにはどのような要素が不可欠なのかを模索してきました。冨井は付箋や色鉛筆、ハンマーやゴミ箱等、しばしば身の回りにある既製品を用いて作品を作りますが、従来あったその物特有の用途や意味を取り払うことで、その物の物質としての新たな魅力や存在に焦点を当て、全く違うものへと昇華させます。またある時には指示書のみを展示し、観客自身がその指示に従い彫刻作品となるプロセスを踏む作品など、従来の“もの”としての彫刻とはかけ離れた、そのものの裏にある見えない“こと”にも焦点を当てた作品制作をしています。

今回の展覧会ではタイトル通り、他人の作品から「線」を借りた作品を発表します。ファッションブランド「tac:tac」のデザイナー、島瀬敬章氏のパターンの線を元に作られた彫刻作品、そのパターンから起こされた服、その服を試着する観客、それを写す鏡と映り込む背景、その全てのもの・こと・場・時など彫刻としての可能性を顕在化する展示となります。

初日に行うトークには、tac:tacの島瀬敬章氏、島村幸大太氏と美術批評家の林卓行氏にお越しいただきます。

12月後半のイベントでは、山形ビエンナーレ2018に於いて行われた彫刻についての問題提起を続けているグループ「AGAIN-ST」と「コーヒーのある風景」をテーマに美術やデザインを横断するユニット「L PACK.」によるコラボレーションが、再び「おでん屋」として実現します。AGAIN-STのメンバーが制作したおでんの型の展示と共に、void+parkingに3日間限定の屋台が出現します。

作家ステイトメント：

「線を借りる」

3年前からスケッチをしている。モチーフは樹木。見ていることがどの様に現れるのか（現したいのかもしれないが、そう上手くは現れない）。「それ位」を維持することでその深みに潜りつつ、同時にその上澄みに浮かぶことはできないか。そんなことを考えながらスケッチをしている。制作の手順は以下。①樹木を見て、気になった箇所を紙に「写そう」として紙の上に1本の線を引く②その線に影響を受けて、同時に見ている樹木からも影響を受けて紙の上に線を引く③それを繰り返すうちに「写す」という目的が、「移す」という結果に変わっていることに気づく④そのことに納得がいったら線を引くことを止める。こういうことを続けている。

スケッチをしているうちに、線を引くということが、紙の上に線を引くことに留まらないことに気が付いた。そもそも、全ては線で繋げようと思えば繋がるのである。命名や分類によって把握し分断することとは別の角度から物事に侵入すること。その手段としての線。そのうちに線が輪っかの様に繋がるのかもしれない。それは分断を生み、新たな価値付けを促すことになる。そうはならない様に線を引くこと。線を引くことは簡単な様でとても難しい。

2年前に、ファッションブランド「tac:tac」のデザイナー島瀬さんとパタンナーの島村さんに出会った。何かしましょうということで盛り上がったものの、私の才能の無さから具体的な話に進まない。すると、旧知の画家の近藤恵介さんから、「僕のプロジェクトに参加して欲しい」との依頼があった。私は、近藤さんの手書きのメモやドローイングからいくつかの形を抜き出し、それらを組み合わせて近藤さんの絵画を展示する為のテーブルをつくった註。このことから、私は島瀬さんと島村さんの服のパターンを使って彫刻をつくりたいと思う様になった。紙の上に現れた線がテーブルとなり、服の型となった線が彫刻となる。違うようで同じかもしれない物事を、そのままの状態と鮮度で繋げることを試みる。その為にいまの私が取るべき立場は、「線を借りる人」である。

いい線を引きたいとは思わない。「線を引くという技術」の精度を上げることに専心したい。「線を借りる」ことはその為の段階である。

冨井大裕　Motohiro Tomii

1973年新潟県生まれ。1999年武蔵野美術大学大学院造形研究科彫刻コース修了。2015年文化庁新進芸術家海外研修制度研修員としてニューヨーク滞在(-2016年）。既製品に最小限の手を加えることで、それらを固定された意味から解放し、色や形をそなえた造形要素として、「彫刻」のあらたな可能性を模索する。Twitterにて毎日発表される「今日の彫刻」などと併せ、既存の展示空間や制度を批評的に考察する活動でも注目を集める。近年の主な展覧会に「像を結ぶ」（Yumiko Chiba Associates viewing room shinjuku／東京、2017年）、「引込線2017」（旧所沢市立第2学校給食センター／埼玉）、「コンポジションーモノが持つルールー」（ATELIER MUJI／東京、2018年）、「水と土の芸術祭2018 MEGA BRIDGE」（ゆいぽーと新潟市芸術創造村・国際青少年センター／新潟）、「メルド彫刻の先の先」（Maki Fine Arts／東京、2018年）などがある。現在、武蔵野美術大学准教授、「壁ぎわ」世話人。

小田桐奨と中嶋哲矢によるユニット。共に1984年生まれ、静岡文化芸術大学空間造形学科卒。アート、デザイン、建築、民藝などの思考や技術を横断しながら、最小限の道具と現地の素材を臨機応変に組み合わせた「コーヒーのある風景」をきっかけに、まちの要素の一部となることを目指す。

AGAIN-ST（アゲインスト）

彫刻を表現のベースとする作家、彫刻を専門領域とする批評家、美術の現場に携わるデザイナーで企画された活動。展覧会と、その会期中に行うトークライブを主な手法として、彫刻についての問題提起を続けている。メンバーである作家全員が美術系大学の教員でもあることから、会場は大学の展示スペースを使用し、毎回テーマ設定を変え、テーマに合わせてゲスト作家、批評家を招聘して展覧会を開催している。メンバーは石崎尚、小山麻子、冨井大裕、深井聡一郎、藤原彩人、保井智貴。
