No Dragon Age today, I'm down in the countryside for work and I decided to give some attention to my original babies to try some paper that @salsedinepicta (you're tagged if you want/have anything to share!) gifted me!
I've been a very good girl and also did some colour thumbnails, @diesvitae and @ndostairlyrium (tag!! You're it!!) you both can be proud of me.
So here, Shahra from Till Queendom Come and some motivational quote. 😌✨🐯
(please ignore the typo 🙈)

Thank you, Arja 🥺
If any of you don't know @thelastbacchae yet, please check it out, it's one of my favourite Greek mythology comics! 🤩
@greypetrel's solo comic Till Queendom Come is also amazing, mixing Indian, Celtic, and Norse mythology in Edwardian England.
Sometimes I remember to remind people that I have a Patreon by updating y'all about the stories I'm writing.
Pygmalia creates the perfect woman in this lesbian retelling of the Pygmalion myth. What happens when the power of Aphrodite turns her into flesh & blood?
$10+ patrons enjoy the illustrated version with a sensual artwork by @greypetrel.
Read the plain text version here.
Upcoming in December is another wlw tale in which the valkyrie Hrist hooks up with Freydís, a female warrior of the einherjar whom she chose from the battlefield.
Patrons will also get to vote for a set of sketches for holiday cards, the winner of which will be turned into a printable download by an actual artist (aka not me).
If that sounds fun to you and you are 18+ years old, join here!

Unrelated but it's funny to think Mr. Darcy could be responsible for Dracula daily emails.
LOL it really looks like something he'd do in a heartbeat! (probably to piss off the real vampires he knows and... Well, appreciates on alternate days.)
Or, he would appreciate A LOT, and be extremely annoying about it, commenting everything all the time.
(This is related to Arja's other comic Till Queendom Come which you can read here, featuring a Jotunn who stayed in England after the IX century Viking invasions and became way too committed with books and literature. Yes, Darcy is an alias and it's a reference.)

"A ten, but..." Tag game
Tagged by @ndostairlyrium with my deepest thanks, I'm here cracking my knuckles. 😈
Tagging... Who's not been tagged? @transprincecaspian @melisusthewee @rowanisawriter @rosella-writes @oxygenforthewicked
Alyra: She's a ten, but you should really start blinking when other people speak, or stop complaining of the sweat smell..
Raina: She's a ten but honey you got money now stop eating from the trashcan.
Aisling: She's a ten but you can't use the Anchor as a nightlamp because you lost time during the day with horses or wacky experiments or hobby number 28958493 and forgot to read that one report necessary for tomorrow's Council, and candles "are too far, anyway".
Radha: She's a ten but you can't decide people are idiots if they don't mind-read you and know what that very poignant look meant.
More OCs from another fully original project because this was fun.
Darcy: He's a ten but it is a truth universally aknowledged that Jane Austen is not the one author that everyone loves without exclusions.
Shahrazad: She's a ten but you can't feed people and then set them on fire because they saw you cooking and supposed you were the cook.
Winnie: She's a ten but she won't notice you're into her anyway if you don't ask for her hand directly, so...

For the OC Outfit Doodle thingie *rubs hands maniacally*
Raina: 👗 OC in something from the 50’s Aisling: 💃 OC in some radical 90’s clothes Alyra: 🎭 OC in another OC’s typical attire
Bonus:
Darcy my beloved: 👍 OC in a crop top - giving us some "I'm with the final girl in a slasher movie from the 80s so who's watching knows I'm doomed from the get go, but if I have to get killed off, I'm going out with style u-u" vibes ✨
*pant* DONE! It's been a wild ride and I'm allegedly having too much fun with this meme and I LOVE 50s FASHION. I received a zillionth asks and I love you all.
sling already had a 90s outfit but I had to do another one... Explanations under the cut!
Raina: 👗 OC in something from the 50’s
I had the doubt of dressing her in a very puffy, new look gown which she would absolutely HATE... But then I realised. Raina is Rizzo from Grease. I didn't do it on purpose but... Switch "girls" for "guys", and "There are worse things I could do" is her song. So, the purple shirt is Rizzo's. It had to be done.
Aisling: 💃 OC in some radical 90’s clothes
Punk, but make it colourful and avoid black at all costs. If Sex Pistols had their graphic in neon yellow and pink, she can skip black. And the Lisa Frank-style crop top.
Alyra: 🎭 OC in another OC’s typical attire
Anders somehow convinced her to try his robes on and see for herself that they're comfortable. She disagrees. She can't move and also fur pauldrons? Seriously?
Darcy: 👍 OC in a crop top
The comparison is terribly spot on. He's a Jotunn, his real name (Fjolvarr) means "The Cautious One". Ghosts in Old Norse lore are evil and malevolent, he doesn't trust them. He's the last surviving one because he just didn't go to the cellar to check that noise. Didn't go into the woods to take a stroll. Avoided 99% of dangerous situations. Now he's alone, unscathed, everyone around him has died, he has no idea what was it, and he's 2m buff Frost giant full of anxiety. (but with his favourite crop top.)

"How did you get in my tend?" "Same way I beated your ass on the Vitastā." "Except, you didn't." "I would have, if you hadn't had a whole army and Porus had moved his ass five minutes earlier as I told him." "You're impossible." "The ox says the kettle's black…" "Didn't you hate me?" "You're hateful. And, interesting. For a mortal." "I am deeply flattered that such a prized member of Mighty Shiva's retinue values me so." "You're awful at playing humble. And your pronunciation of Persian is horrible, shut up." "Make me." "Take that armour away and I might."
Kiss Art February 2023 #3 - Obsession (Mania).
Young Shahra had a thing for the "Clever bitchy asshole" as she would call him (affectionately). But hey, what happened in Punjab stays in Punjab, right? Couple of notes: Alexander's breastplate is based on a reconstruction by hellenicarmours to whom goes my deepest thanks for the clear explanations and detailed photos. Shahra's attire is based on a reference that I found badly dated and it's to be redone because it's actually much later than it should be. Sigh. Bear with me, you'll have another version.
Till Queendom Come is a project about an Indian Rakshasi who’s trying to find her lost heart after the East India Company stole it, a Jotunn who didn’t feel like going back to Norway after the Vikings invasions, and the youngest granddaughter of the last druid of St. Ives who’s now trying to keep on the family tradition on her own in spite of being the wrong gender to do so. Started as a project set in Edwardian England, born in a urge of sudden irritation about seeing Victoria being romanticised everywhere by a cynical comic artist who majored in English. When it's 1816 and it's the third time you managed to enter the house of the person you discovered wrote your favourite books after a lot of digging and befriending people who knew her. And at this time, the conversation was fluent (you're almost sure she insulted you politely just thrice, but that matters not), and she didn't storm out of the room yet, so you decide to be forward and brash and express your HUGE admiration.
KissArtFebruary2023 2/8: Friendhsip (Philia)
The original plan was another but… Then I had the flash of this and I can't say no to Jane Austen. Yes, they met. He grew on her like moss, basically he entered her house once and refused to go or to notice all her insults and jabs and polite invitations to "Excuse my life of your obnoxious presence". In the end she warmed up, still acted brash out of habit and not to give him the satisfaction (he was already insufferable when it was clear she didn't like him, can you imagine if she openly told him that yes, he's a fanboy and annoying, but a good man?), but he became a welcomed presence in her house. "Begone, thou scratchhy dip pen!" cit. me.

WIP (almost) Wednesday!
Tagged by @shivunin (thank you! <3), I could wait a hour to post it and make it a WIP Wednesday but I'm bound from here to finish another prompt, SO.
Tagging @melisusthewee (beating you on time for once) and @star--nymph. Again, don't worry if you want to ignore this! And if you're not tagged but would love to: say Friends and enter (and consider yourself tagged).
So, it's been a hectic week work-wise and I don't have much new to show, so I'll go for the list as well...
Dragon Age:
- Home Was Never on the Ground: AKA the Monster Fic. I'm slowly making my way up Chapter 26, I'm being slower because this is following an idea that got discarded by the writers but that I found cool. I just need to cause an explosion and convince Aisling to please wait before pestering Solas with much overdued questions, and maybe I could edit and post it.
- DadWolf AU: I'm writing here and there, but I'm containing myself if not for prompts. I would really like to make this more structured than not Monster fic, and before starting I want to have the full picture outlined. The thing that I'm still mulling over is the villain: I'd love to just... Keep Corypheus away and make it more a "Mages vs Non-Mages" thing as in DA2. I just need to settle all the pieces of the puzzles together and it's where we're getting quite different from the game. Solas is in the open with people close to him (Varric knows he's the DreadWolf, Aisling and Dorian got told when they got big enough, Malcolm knew as well and I suppose the other Hawkes too), the main issue will be the Venatori trying to get their hands on Fen'Harel Orb. Again, I still need to pin point some things but we're getting there, I have a rough outline.
- DA2: I've been pondering over whether to make an anthological AO3 collection of DA2 ficlets. Which may even bring me to write more about it without prompts, but take this with a grain of salt. I add below a stamp of a WIP I've been working on and I am stressing over. Following @ndostairlyrium (tag! You're it! AH!) suggestions over colouring and trying to put it into practice. Picture me screaming internally and I may or may not have done the shading twice. (and using too many levels forgive me Ali for my colouring loco)
Originals:
- The Last Bacchae: It's been THE YEAR since September, but I'm finally -hopefully- getting my shit together and going forward with Chapter 6. It's an urban fantasy, main character Seren litterally stumbled over Dionysos (THE Dionysos) and got a contract as an intern Bacchae. Her family may not be entirely happy about it. Chapter 6: we're camping at Hephaistos' house, he's of course extremely happy to have 4 of his siblings around and 2 mortal teens there (he's the only one who cooks, go figure). Right now Seren is making friends with him on being two grumpy introverts, good at their passions enough to result annoying for all the family. You could read it here if you're curious: @thelastbacchae
- Till Queendom Come: I blocked myself writing a chapter which was honestly more than I could chew. I have primary sources I'm following, but between the crippling doubt over whether I'm reading them good and the extreme unpleasantness of this particular bunch of research... I'm kinda blocked. I'm slowly making my way up and I miss 5 pages to end this chapter. Still I'm quite tearing my hair off over it and crying because half of the time I feel like I'm the wrong person to write this story, the other half I'm quite in love with it and want to go on. Busy period doesn't help. I'll get there... Slowly.

That night, at the estate of Lord Verney, 19th Baron Willoughby de Broke, the game of whist took an unprecedented turn. First, the Earl of Colchester showed up with his beau, a foreign Lady that enchanted the whole room with a male-like wit and quite the sharp tongue, as charming and easy-going, the perfect company, that he was. Second, when the men retired for a game of whist and the ladies stayed in the living room, at the second hand Lady Colchester entered, declaring she always found whist such a fascinating concept but never had the chance to assist in one game, back in Bukhara. She moved her hands in a way that was as unusual as mesmerising to watch, long fingers clad in cream silk under her purple gown, complimenting the tone of her skin. Chatting with Lord Hastings about the Middle East where he was sent in his service, she took no notice of the gasps and outrage she cause by sitting directly on Colchester's lap, as the worst of the women, and her gracious hand, deftly placed on the green, sent what felt like a breeze, as if the room itself breathed. The cards on the table didn't move, tho, and everyone thought it was an impression. She smiled amiably, a glint of intelligence in her eyes, as she bent to press a long kiss to her husband. They won the game, somehow, even if Willoughby de Broke had all the best cards. And the next morning, Lady Verney discovered her most precious tiara, a family heirloom that was passed from generations from one Verney wife to the other ever since Cromwell's Protectorate and that was told to be blessed by unnamed powers, was gone. And yet, who would have suspected the Colchesters, so amiable, so lovely if a little too forward -dued to the exotic nature of the lady, no doubt, that's what the contesses and baronesses at the dinner said anyway- and, as was clear to everyone, always in plain eyesight, catching everyone's attention.
#KissArtFebruary2023 by @violettenouvel #4 - Duty (Pragma)
They're on duty for the Queen, making a show and totally not doing anything mischievous! I can't believe it took me this long before drawing a game of whist.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that an English major with the willingness to write her own comics should not be left to her own devices without inserting Lord Byron in her story.
As a Vampire.
(in case you didn't know, this man was the OG dandy, charming vampire. You're looking at Lestat but in truth it's him.)
(I love smug, asshole characters.)

"Hey, what's it for?" "Nothing. Nice morning, you look pretty, you're replying to my mail and left me breakfast, I feel spoiled." "You big old sap."
Back to Kiss Art February ! 1/8: Playful (ludus). This time with my own characters, and as always a big thank you to @violettenouvel for hosting this nicest event! :) On this I tried a dip pen and indian ink. Except I realised why I never use dip pens (the. scratches. Eugh. NO.). And also that alcohol based markers melt indian ink. So yeah, back to pens we'll go, even if I quite like how easy it is to go from thick to thin lines! x°D

Sera! (notte?) ✨ "religious or non-religious" per la triade di Till Queendom Come 👀
Ma buonasera! 💜✨
Going into English and totally putting them in order so their colour codes form the bisexual flag...
Tis the prompt list
Winnie: Yes. Druids are priests, she's a priest of the celtic Gooddess. In great-grandpa's books there are noted rites and how to celebrate festivities, Grandpa Quick educated his family to the worship and they all still practice -they celebrate Samhain as New Year, no Christmas but Yule, Beltane too. It's done very quietly and behind closed doors of course, but they do not follow Christian traditions. She does believe, the necklace she often wears has a triskele on it and has devotional value, it's worn as a Christian cross would be. She's open to the existance of other gods, if so many people believe in the Abrahamitic God, he must be true as well, Darcy met Odin so he surely is... She just worships her own
Shahra: It's... Complicated. She remembers she's religious. She doesn't remember what god(s) she worshipped, name, face, number... Nothing. She knows there's some higher power, deep in her bones. She won't be able to tell you a name or anything more specific than that. It's the reason she never converted to Islam in 9 centuries of living in Islamic countries. She'll say it's a nice religion and she deeply respects it, finds the Qur'an incredibly poetic and will be able to quote it and interpret it. She doesn't consider herself muslim because it never sat completely right with her, for her personal beliefs. So, she recognise it as very valid, adopted some things (she doesn't drink, for once, and the sense of community) but she doesn't practice because she feels it would just be insincere and offensive.
... It never did because she's a worshipper of Shakti and Shiva, and had a very close connection to that religion that wasn't totally severed when the thing happened. She'll get back to it with her memory back, so yes, she is religious and an active part of one. She just doesn't remember it.
Darcy: He spent years in the All-Green-Isle with Odin himself. He's a Jotunn, he walked with the gods and knows personally they exist. He never got back in contact with them after he came to England, but he knows they're there somewhere. He doesn't need their favours, but he still practice some, when he feels like it. Yes, but mildly.

Hey hey! From the character headcanons, how bout "what calms your muse down after a bad day?" For any/ as many OCs you'd like!
Hello Lay! :D
Thanks for asking, here I am! Let's see...
Tis the prompt list
Aisling: She's an introvert and needs to recharge batteries on her own. Crying helps, she loves crying, she's a crybaby, will cry because if you pour it out, it doesn't fester and poison you. She'll just curl in a ball under her covers, or search for a person to hug and cry it out. They can go on doing their things, she doesn't mind, she just needs the physical contact. Otherwise: a long bath, gets cozyed up before the fire, blanket on the ground, a lots of pillows, candy stash number 2 ready, and a book. Or going to the stables, cuddling the horses, venting it out with some physical work, all the better if there's a pricky horse keeping her company and bumping her from time to time.
Raina: Go to the Hanged Man or the closest local tavern, possibly the dirtier one, the one with the most scum in it. Pick up a fight just for the sake of it. Drink up and drown her sorrows in alcohol, any kind of alcohol, she isn't picky. She always, always is a very sad drunkard, will get moved by seeing a cat on a side of the street and bawl as someone drags her home. (no it's not sane don't do like her)
Garrett: Mope around a little bit. Find an isolated corner, cross his arms on his chest, sits down and think about it, mull it over, feel sorry for himself a little so he can get over with. Raina would help him in setting his problems in the right scale, with humour and lighten the mood, when he feels like he has moped enough. Or, take the dog out, take a long walk around, maybe run a little over it. Cuddle the dog, get distracted. He likes gardening enough, it keeps his hand and mind busy, it's relaxing.
Alyra: She rationalises. If she needs to pull out steam, she'll just look for someone to spar with and vent it oud that way. She's not a talker, she hates talking about her feelings because she feels like if there's no solution to be found, there's no point in discussing it. So, she'll examine carefully why the day went bed, split the events in tiny bits of cause-effect and see connections and why it went wrong and what could have been done to prevent it, how can she improve the next time.
And for Till Queendome Come...
Winnie: Grumble with Reginald the goose, her principal confident, about what happens. He's her familiar, he understands what she's saying and feels what she's feeling, so the bird is the perfect listener, honks sympathetically when she needs, nibble her hands with his beak affectionately to show support. She'll get into the greenhouse and prune leaves. Back in Cornwall, she used to just go out the house and climb her favourite tree in the garden, the one that looked at the sea, and mull it over there. It comes difficult in London.
Shahra: Gets in the kitchen and bakes bread. A lot of non bread, Uzbek style, she has fancy stamps she collected in years and brought with her when she moved to London. She became pretty good at baking and refuses to spend money to something she can do at home. So yeah, bake all the bread and store it in an enchanted box so it keeps always soft and fresh. They actually have three enchanted boxes in the pantry. Do some "yoga". She can't name what it is, but she remembers the practice, three or four sequences, and how to move her body. If you asked her, she won't be able to give a name to what she's doing or any positions. She also tries to meditate in the end, in a perfect padmasana... But she finds meditation difficult (without her heart, she can't physically access the right state of mind, her chakra line is broken. She was never good at meditation, but right now she would try as hard as she wants to: nothing ever will happen).
Darcy: Cosy up in a bathtub full of ice cubes -he's a frost giant, London is a warm climate for him-, a pint of beer and a novel. Usually it's Jane Austen, but sometimes any regency novel would do, he has a HUGE collection of gothic novels, all the bibliography of Anne Radcliffe, he's scared and mistrusting of ghosts, so he'll just get lost in the fright night. If it's a boxing evening, that's perfect to vent - he participates in boxing matches, makes good money out of it. That is if the pesky troll that has a bakery under Tower Bridge doesn't participate and puts up a challenge for him as well. Stupid, pesky troll, if he's there he'll get home even grumpier than usual, lock in the bathroom for hours.

*barges in with 20 lemon cakes on a silver platter - they're on top of each other and it's clearly not safe. Also there's a guy on a market stall just outside yelling "ma'am your lemons"* HELLO THERE! For the character headcanons thingie: Winnie (bella de nonna) "something your muse could never forgive", "the thing(s) your muse thinks about before falling asleep", and "what items can be found in your muse’s pockets?" Also! Raina (because she needs aaalll the love and nonna doesn't give her enough): "talk about your muse’s accent", "habits and mannerisms", and "how your muse responds to unconditional love"
🍋🍋🍋
*Approaches the cake drooling* I LIMONI SIGNORA!
Ooooh these are interesting, thank you!! Let's see...
And I should really draw Raina more, shouldn't I.
Tis the prompt list
Winnie
Something she could not forgive: Ok, this got me thinking, she's not really the grudgy type...
*camera moves to Shahra launching darts to a picture of Queen Victoria*
What she really won't be able to forgive, was using people without their consents. She'll get to realise for real the real extent of Shahra and Darcy's little arrangement with the Fairy Queen and how much it chains the both of them in... 1914. And even more so in 1917, and in the later years. And that's probably how Queen Mab will go from having a Druidess in town that she can't touch (Faes and Druids are like fire and ice) but is pretty harmless and "ignorable" to having a Druidess in town who knows one or two things more and actively hates her.
Also, she will need A LOT of time to realise this feeling, and it will always be complicated to her, but I don't think she will really be able to forgive grandpa for preventing her to learn her power just because she's a girl.
She can see where it comes from and she sincerely loves grandpa Quick, he's her inspiration and she is walking his footsteps willingly out of admiration. But, he also did her damage. A lot of good because she would never have met Shahra and Darcy but... Spoiler.
Things she thinks of before falling asleep: What to do tomorrow, she'll make neat lists in her head about tomorrow's schedule, dividing it into hours and times. She's methodical! And since Druid magic relies entirely on memory, she has many, many generation of exceptional memory genes to make it so she doesn't need to write many things down to remember them.
What items can be found in your muse’s pockets?: A pair of scissors (Victorian/Edwardian pockets were pretty big!), a small handbook describing plants, house keys, a handkerchief, a couple of stones with runer Darcy carved in for her, for good luck and protection, a pack of matches because Shahra always forgets (she can manipulate and expand existing fire, she can't create it from nothing), some bobby pins just in case, a plume that Reginald lost and is nice to touch, a tin with mints.
Raina
Talk about your muse’s accent: ... Not anything posh, for sure, something that really betrays that she comes from the country, but you can't really say anything because dagger on your throat.
She takes accents pretty quickly, tho, so in a year since coming to Kirkwall, she'll have a mixture of local accent -mainly from Downtown- and her own which would be hard to locate.
Habits and mannerisms: She hates to stay in the house locked, so during the day she'll be out and about if nothing forces her in (Anders threatening to tie her to the bed if she thinks of crossing the door after a particularly rough battle, mainly). She can't stay still for much, so if she has nothing to do with her hands, she'll start to fidget or bump her foot pretty annoyingly. She's more restless the more she's stressed, which is a pretty good indicator for other people. She isn't loud, will prefer cutting, witty remarks to boisterous ones, but she always, always laughs loudly when she's really amused. Will not turn down food if you offer her, will tell you that if food falls down, you have 10 seconds before it get dirty, before it's perfectly eatable.
You know the episode in friends with Rachel and Joey eating the cake that didn't touch the floor? That's her and Anders.
She likes to sing, but is awful and tone-deaf. It won't stop her, when she's happy or feels like the mood needs to be kept up, she'll start singing. In Act 3, she and Merrill will make it a mission to modify every single sea shanty they can think of to fit Isabela when she leaves the house. None of them can keep a note, none of them will harmonise with the other.
Leandra tried to make a respectable girl out of her, with FAILING results. But the thing that stuck was... Knitting. It's not something Raina will EVER disclose to anyone, but she can knit. It helps her staying concentrated and moving her fingers in a repetitive pattern. She's pretty quick at it, too!
How your muse responds to unconditional love: Asking if you ate too much sugar this morning, perchance. Laughing about it and shrugging it off, saying that unconditional love is for sappy poets and Varric's smutty novels. Melting down and starting to cry if she's shown that yes, it is unconditional.
