Animal Crossing Fish Dish Friday - #8
Brought to you by a marine biologist and the most appetizing AC dish IMO...
CLICK HERE FOR THE AC FISH EXPLAINED MASTERPOST!
Seafood Pizza
In ACNH: 1. Receive the recipe randomly from either one of your villagers when they're cooking, the chef at your Happy Home Paradise restaurant chef, or in a message bottle on the beach. 2. Cook at your stove with 3 Flour, 1 Tiger Prawn, & 2 Manila Clam
In Real Life: from Italy
Species of Choice: You'll usually see some type of shrimp on seafood pizzas, so choose your local species or get a can of them and have at it. Other seafoods that you'll find on these pizzas are clams, sea snails (such as whelk under the name "scungili"), mussels, crab, or lobster. I suppose, technically, you could call an anchovy pizza a seafood pizza, but that's really not what we're going for here.
Other Ingredients:
Mozzarella cheese Pizza dough - either handmade or store bought Tomato sauce Your favorite pizza seasonings, like oregano, red pepper flakes, garlic, etc. Whatever other toppings you like on your pizza, like mushrooms or other veggies.
Recipe
There's some vernacular we should quickly go over here. I honestly don't have much more to say about this recipe - seafood pizza is just another version of pizza, and some people go out of their way to make them ridiculously expensive by putting lobster and caviar on them.
When it comes to seafood, though, you're safe to say that any marine organism can become "seafood". Obviously, they all come from the sea, so it makes sense. However, the term "seafood" carries with it a little bit more specification often enough. "Seafood" usually refers to those delectable marine invertebrates that are often pretty pricey food items.
Which is funny, because a lot of those animals used to be seen as shit food, things the peasants ate since, like, eating a crab or lobster is like eating a giant sea bug (not taxonomically, but it *is* an arthropod). Opinions changed and a taste for lobster and the other sea-bugs emerged. With more demand comes higher prices, and so we now live in a world where many marine invertebrates fetch a higher price than many vertebrates (fish) do, pound for pound.
And there you have it. Bon appetite!

How do seafood offerings differ among restaurants in Goa?
Seafood offerings in restaurants in Goa vary widely depending on the type of establishment and its location. Coastal restaurants in Goa often highlight freshly caught seafood, with specialties like prawn curry, fish recheado, reflecting Goan cuisine’s Portuguese and Indian influences. Many high-end restaurants in Goa, particularly those in luxury hotels, offer a gourmet take on seafood, featuring delicacies like lobster thermidor or grilled tiger prawns, often accompanied by international flavors. These restaurants not only focus on taste but also on presentation, which can be visually stunning, resembling the beautiful settings captured in Goa hotel images.
On the other hand, local beach shacks and smaller eateries provide a more rustic experience with simpler but equally delicious seafood preparations. Here, grilled fish, calamari, and spicy Goan-style fried prawns are often served at reasonable prices, allowing visitors to enjoy authentic flavors in a casual atmosphere. The diversity in seafood offerings means that no matter where you dine, whether in a fancy resort or a small beachfront café, you're guaranteed a taste of Goa's rich culinary heritage.

An Unexpected Portuguese Side Effect
I have a gigantic love/hate relationship with shrimp. For the majority of my life, it's been on the hate side. This likely stems from the fact that growing up, the only shrimp I ever saw was creepily identically smooth and hanging off a bowl of ketchup. Blah, blah cocktail sauce. It's still gross.
It wasn't until China that I actually started eating shrimp. The texture still occasionally got me though. Then I lived in Central Europe where I rarely saw shrimp outside of frozen sushi boxes. When I moved back to the states, I occasionally would make them for dinner or grill nights, but still, not a protein I particularly enjoyed.
Then I went to Belize and had bad shrimp. After digestive pyrotechnics through the Guatemalan jungle and staying on an island that didn't have running water, I was anti-shrimp for years. I just couldn't. I tried a number of years later and....the smell. I tossed all of them. I couldn't convince myself to get them close to my face.
But I am one who dislikes disliking food. Unless it's a pointless food (iceberg lettuce, water chestnuts, melons -- if I wanted crunchy water, I'd eat an ice cube). I wandered around Lisbon's Time Out Market, looking for a price tag attached to a meal that included something I hadn't had before. I found it in a saffron and shrimp risotto with avruga. (Avruga: fake caviar made out of herring.) Head on shrimp still in the shell. Fresh, ok texture. I was ok with this.
I had more shrimp on a squid ink paella in Nazare. Granted, I was more obsessed with the cuttlefish, but the giant, head on, split tiger prawn was totally worth eating.
I had a round of seafood rice with shrimp in Aveiro, head and shell on and devourable. I was amazed. I've heard that head on shrimp have more flavor, but the texture of the shrimp was completely different as well. Was this a result of the cooking style? Or...was it leaving the shell on until after they are cooked that was revolutionizing my shrimp experience?
Since returning stateside, I've mastered poop shooting shrimp through the joints of their shells and discovering that the texture of the shrimp is perfect, every time. I get excited to eat the shrimp. I make sure to portion out my bites so I can have shrimp at the end.
Have I finally crossed into a long-term love of shrimp?
And just a little foreshadowing for my next trip: I focused my Duolingo time on Portuguese quite heavily prior to my time in Portugal. Amazingly, it helped me order food so easily in restaurants. I have played all sorts of Duolingo and never felt like it helped my speaking as much as it did for this trip. Somehow, spending so much time in Portuguese was finally the connection I needed to get French to stick in my head. After years of trying to make any sort of French stick and come back out of my face, the link was Portuguese.
Adeus, Portugal. Bonjour la France!

Nagpur - A vibrant city in the heart of India
Nagpur has much to reveal on its cultural fronts, with the Deekshabhoomi being a cave of pilgrimage for Buddhists, and Sitabuldi Fort is a commanding fort having a view of the city around. The Nagpur Central Museum comes under the category of the oldest in India, housing ancient artefacts speaking something about the history relating to this region.
Nagpur's Unique Cuisine
Saoji food is said to be the signature cuisine of Nagpur. Saoji dishes are very spicy and essentially non-vegetarian. The curries are made with trotters, chicken, and offal, and cooked with a host of spices. Special spices used in the food give Saoji dishes a different taste. These dishes are usually prepared by people of the Halba Koshti community.
The spices used in these dishes have about 32 ingredients and are of three types. Bhukri masala has 12 ingredients, kala masala has 20, and batlo is a fresh paste of garlic, ginger, cumin, and onion. You can try prawn, fish, and egg curries, chicken, and goat meat geared up with Indian flatbread and rice.
Looking for hotels in Nagpur? Swagstay, India's leading chain of hotels in Nagpur ensures your stay in the city is comfortable, convenient and cost-effective.
Wildlife Adventure in Nagpur
On top of the list is the Pench National Park—the jungle inspiration of Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book." Home to 1200+ diverse flora and fauna like Bengal Tigers, Blue Kingfishers, Four-horned Antelope, and Sloth Bears, Pench National Park is one of Nagpur's famous wildlife attractions. I am surprised that people come here without checking the price…. Obviously it’s going to cost a bit but this is one of the top chinese dining institutions with a HK couple and chef team helming the entire plethora of seafood and wondrous Chinese cuisine in the town of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah in East Malaysia.. The clams were decent but i prefer it if it was not fried garlic based.. The deep sea fish - the star snapper was so yummy, the beef tendon claypot was perfect, the tiger prawn yeefu braised noodle was delicious, the tenderly cooked veggie soup was great and yao mak veggie dish was just right.. 𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍜 I might be a bit late to the party but I had @tonkotsu.ramenbar on the weekend and I loved it! They’ve just opened a new spot in Kentish Town literally opposite the underground station. I started with pork gyoza, and the King Prawn Katsu which I LOVED, and also the Chicken Karaage, which was a very generous portion for the price but also such good quality. Crispy skin, meaty fillets, a must order! Then we had Tonkotsu, because when in Rome, and also the Chilli Tiger Prawn. I recommend sticking a load of chilli oil in, the whole dish is given a lift when you add heat. The rest of the menu sounds great though and next time I think I’ll be eyeing up the Japanese Mushroom Miso. They pride themselves on making their own noodles with their tagline being “you’re just a soup shop” if you don’t. Also, they have a cocktail called an Umeshu Spritz, which is Tanqueray gin, Umeshu plum wine, Prosecco, picked plum & river leaf, and soda, and it’s DELICIOUS. Make sure you try it, and then finish off with @happyendingsldn. . . . . . #kentishtown #tonkotsu #tonkotsuramen #ramen #ramennoodles #ramenbowl #ramenlover #ramenchallenge #ramen🍜 #ramennoodle #ramenlovers #ramenlove #ramenlife #ramentime #ramenporn #noodles #noodles🍜 #londonfoodblogger #noodleslover #prawns #chilliprawns #foodphotos #foodpicsdaily #foodpicoftheday #foodphotoshoot #foodphotograph #foodphotographer #foodpicture #foodpictures #foodpix (at Tonkotsu Bar and Ramen) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUrowI7oDNE/?utm_medium=tumblr
