Hello everyone and welcome to another #stacksaturday post where this Saturday I’m joining in with the #matchyourspinestack challenge! I returned back from holiday at 09:30 this morning after a sleeper train ride through the night, then picking up the train home from Waterloo. I really should be working on this big beast this morning, but I’ve been hijacked by @tiffany.francis ‘s new book, Dark Skies (swipe left) for most of the morning! I’m already on page 131😯 It’s a great book, with her beautiful illustrations scattered throughout, about humans’ relationship with the night and environmental concerns regarding our disconnect. Hello everyone! Happy Monday to you all. Even though I’m feeling like a bit 💩 it’s not going to stop me sharing the second part of my Christmas book haul! Mr B got me an £100 Waterstones voucher as part of my present so I managed to get 11 books out of that. 😁 I’ve been seeing lots of love for Midnight In Everwood here on IG. It’s described as a spellbinding retelling of The Nutcracker filled with enchanted toys, decadent balls, fierce feminine friendships and a forbidden romance. Yup, that’s ticking some boxes for me! Next up some nonfiction with Dark Skies: A Journey Into The Wolf Night. Underneath that stunning cover the author tells of her adventures wandering through Britain and Europe to learn more about nocturnal landscapes and humanity’s connection to the night sky. Finally, Six Crimson Cranes which I have to admit was mostly a cover buy 🙈😂 but I’m genuinely interested in the story and will be reading it with the beautiful Emma from @emmasbookishcorner It follows Shiori, a princess who has forbidden magic running through her veins. She loses control of it on the day of her betrothal ceremony and attracts the attention of her stepmother. The stepmother has dark magic of her own, banishing Shiori and turning her brothers into cranes. She warns her that with every word she speaks of what has happened, one of her brothers will die.
