Ryuk's New Discovery

Summary: When Ryuk discovers that Light is ticklish, he can’t resist teasing him, cackling with delight as the usually composed Light Yagami struggles to maintain his dignity.

Light Yagami sat at his desk, the Death Note open before him. He tapped the pen against the paper, deep in thought, strategizing his next moves. The air in his room was still, except the looming presence of Ryuk, who hovered lazily behind him.

“You’re always so serious,” Ryuk muttered, sounding almost bored. “Humans are strange. Even when they’re trying to take over the world, they’re so uptight.”

Light didn’t even glance up. “I’m not uptight. I’m focused. There’s a difference.”

Ryuk grinned, sharp teeth gleaming. “Focused, huh? You never relax, do you? I wonder...” He drifted closer, an idea forming in his mischievous mind. “Hey, Light… are humans ticklish?”

Light froze for a second, eyebrows twitching in annoyance. “What kind of stupid question is that?”

“Ohhh.” Ryuk’s grin widened at the subtle shift in Light’s expression. “You are ticklish, aren’t you? I wonder what happens if I...”

Before Light could stop him, Ryuk reached down with his long, bony fingers and gave Light’s ribs an experimental wiggle.

“R-Ryuk!” Light yelped, twisting away from the unexpected sensation. He batted at the Shinigami’s hands, trying to maintain his composure. But Ryuk wasn’t done.

“This is hilarious!” Ryuk cackled loud, eerie, and unhinged. His laughter echoed through the room as he danced his fingers across Light’s ribs and sides, delighting in how his human companion squirmed. “So even you can’t resist a little tickling, huh, Light?”

Light grit his teeth, determined not to give in. “S-stop it, Ryuk! This isn’t fuhunny!”

“Are you kidding? This is hilarious!” Ryuk’s cackle grew even louder as Light thrashed in his chair, trying desperately to fend off the Shinigami’s relentless poking. "Humans are weird! Who knew the mighty Kira could be undone by a few wiggly fingers?”

Light bit his lip, stifling a laugh that threatened to escape. But Ryuk’s clawed hands were merciless, and before long, a startled laugh broke free from Light’s lips.

"Nahahaha he-hehehey quit ihihit!!"

“There it is! I knew you had it in you!” Ryuk howled with delight. His cackling laughter filled the room, almost drowning out Light’s increasingly frantic giggles.

“Hahaha R-Ryuk, stop! Y-you-ahh!-idiot!” Light gasped, trying to push the Shinigami away. His hair was disheveled, his usual calm demeanor shattered by the absurdity of the situation.

“Why would I stop now?” Ryuk said between cackles, his grin wider than ever. “This is the most fun I’ve had in years!”

Eventually, Ryuk relented, floating backward with a gleeful smirk. Light slumped in his chair, gasping for breath, glaring daggers at the Shinigami.

“Seriously what's gotten into you,” Light muttered, straightening his clothes and running a hand through his hair in a futile attempt to restore his dignity.

Ryuk chuckled, still grinning from ear to ear. “Oh, come on, Light. Admit it! That was fun. For me, at least!”

Light shot him a murderous look. “If you ever do that again, I’ll write your name in the Death Note.”

Ryuk cackled once more, completely unfazed. “Oh, Light… as if you’d get rid of me. Who else would make you laugh like that?”

Light rolled his eyes, muttering under his breath, but Ryuk only continued to float around the room, still amused by his newfound discovery.

And though Light would never admit it out loud, he knew he’d have to stay on his guard from now on - because Ryuk had found yet another way to torment him.

A loud squeal could be heard through the task force headquarters. The people who heard it, decided to mind their business, as everyone knew how tiring being handcuffed to the greatest detective in the world could be… “Stohohop!” Light squealed aloud, as one of his feet were being mercilessly attacked by L’s cruel fingers. The other parts of Light’s body, like his arms, were flailing around helplessly on the ground. L looked scrawny, but the man could lift hundreds of pounds if he had the motivation. Therefore, Light didn’t stand a chance. “No.” The detective stated blatantly, a ghost of a smirk on his face as his nails plunged deeper into the poor college student’s sole. “You ate the cake that was in the fridge. I told you it was mine…” Light could only laugh, his face red and flustered as hell. See, on any other day, Light would rather die than be at the mercy and hand of the great detective that he was so wrongly handcuffed to, but unfortunately for him, he didn’t have a choice. “I-I dihihihidn’t!! Ihihi swehehear!” Light knew it was pointless to argue, so he just tried to kick the detective in the face with his other foot that was free, but L was too quick for him, catching his ankle, and holding it tightly as well. Now that he had both of Light’s feet in a hold, there is no way the great Kira could get out of this… right? If the only words Light could muster were some incoherent pleas, it would be a long night for both of them.

How did Light or Misa ever find out L was ticklish? Do you have any headcanons?

Hello!! I’m always down to do headcanons for most of the fandoms I post about, lol, so no worries!! I have done a bunch of Death Note headcanons that you can find here, but I’ll try to give some specific ones for this scenario!!

so, maybe it’s during the Yotsuba-arc - i’m specifically imagining the scene where Misa is all excited that L referred to her as a friend and like holds his and Light’s hands lol

and the three of them end up spending much more time together (mostly because of the handcuffs, but partially by choice) and misa is a generally more touchy, playful person, so maybe L makes some sarcastic comment and Misa pinches his side in response

Light is confused when L makes an odd, high-pitched sound and practically jumps off the couch, jostling the handcuff chain and making Light streak ink across a page of data

Misa is laughing hysterically, L looks more spooked and awkward than ever, and Light is deciding that if he were truly Kira, he’d have killed them both by now because they’re getting on his nerves (but like, /pos bc Yotsuba!Light was lowkey a simp at least for L)

Misa finally stops laughing long enough to explain that “Ryuzaki is ticklish!” and Light can’t help but smirk because he’s pretty sure that L is blushing and it’s all too satisfying (and kind of cute but SHHH)

I don’t think Light is really the type to engage in that unless it’s initiated first or because he has a big fat crush on L and likes his laugh

Misa, however, finds it hilarious and also pretty cute, so she’s always poking and prodding at L who has no clue how to react and just clams up and giggles and never strikes back until Light says something about it, and then he sort of remembers that it’s an option to fight back (king of social skills) and then he would on occasion

having both L and Misa in a tickly mood though occasionally fares very badly for Light, because the two of them decide to form a truce in the name of bothering Light

With every deep breath you take, you feel it. You know. With every slight shift, you feel it. You know. With every movement he makes- whether it’s his hand playing with the hem of your skirt as you sit snuggly on his lap or him splaying his hand flat against your stomach in an almost possessive way- you feel it. You know. And L of course does too. 

Yet here Matsuda is- standing right next to the two of you while he clicks away at a monitor and pulls up different files and video feeds from the evidence pile.

All you can focus on is him.

His deep hum right by your ear. The tickle of his breath as he breathes in and breathes out right beside you. And to top it off- the soft way he rolls and jerks his hips into you. Forcing you to shift around. Forcing you to adjust your position. Forcing you to feel it. And to not forget it. Not forget that out of all of the men in the room, there’s one who is completely unashamed to claim you as his own just for the sake of it. Just for his pleasure. 

It makes your face warm up even more just thinking about it. What would the rest of the Japanese Task Force say? What would they do? Hell, what would Light Yagami say? You know L admires him. Sees him as a friend even. But you have enough sense to know what you’re doing right now isn’t going to fly over so easily just because he’s the great and powerful L. Eight wonder of the world. That being said, you probably won’t catch the same amount of flack as he will considering how everyone knows how much he likes to rope you into his stupid ideas and incredulous behavior.

Still, it gets you wondering about things. About just how things would go if someone were to find out that you’re in this room not to help with the case but to be some wet, messy  whore  for the world’s greatest detective while he’s busy at work. In a room full of people. In a room full of strangers. Who have shown you nothing but kindness and bravery and respect since you’ve met them. 

It makes you wonder. And it makes you swallow nervously. Breathe heavily. Adjust your clothes ever so slightly. But worst of all? It makes you squeeze around it. Around him. Just like a wet, messy whore would. In a way that only brings little jolts- little moments of pleasure from all that happening beneath your skirt. It’s too risky to go any further. But you wonder if L knows that. You wonder if L even cares about that. You wonder. You wonder…

In fact, it makes you start to wonder so much and so hard that you don’t even realize the faces that you’re pulling. The flustered expressions that are hidden from everyone based on the way you’re facing. Everyone- except for Matsuda who manages to catch a glimpse of your expression in the reflection of one of the monitors. And before you can even blink- he’s turning around to face you and asking you a question.

“Are you okay? Did you see something?” He says- or at least, that’s what it seems like he said to you. You feel so guilty right now, you can barely listen to a word he says. It’s like an awful feeling is stirring up inside of you as you look into poor, sweet Mastuda’s face and take in his concern. But something is blocking that awful feeling from you having to open your mouth. It’s the same awful feeling that keeps you rooted to L’s lap and very, very quiet while he takes care of business. The same awful feeling that tells you to do the dirtiest of things like opening your legs a little wider or arching your back a little bit more. “Ryuzaki, is something wron-”

So you get the same amount of pleasure from him as he gets from you.

“Everything is fine, ” L answers for you, not even bothering to look back at Matsuda as he addresses him. Instead, you can feel L’s gaze on the side of your face. When you turn your head a little more in his direction, you’re met with the same passive expression on his face as always. But you know different. You know more than anyone else could get from him with one little glance. “Sometimes she gets a little worked up when she’s at work with me. But it’s fine .”

Worked up is an understatement right now. Because right now, your inner walls are fluttering around him. * I've just started watching the series, I'm on like episode 4 lol so if anything is off character, I apologize.

P.s. I went to sleep thinking about this little moment so here it is:

Ryuk has discovered his love for these juicy red fruits in Light's universe. What were they called again? Right. Apples. He really wanted more apples and knew of only one way to get them.

Light.

"I'm home... hello?" Light called out. Guess no one was home. That's perfect. He'd have all the time and space to himself without interruptions to carry out writing names in the Death Note.

"Hey Light." Ryuk started, but was cut off by Light who was eager to go to his room.

"Not now Ryuk. I've got lots of names to take care of and little time to do this." Even though he was a Shinigami, Light still acted as though he needn't bother caring about what Ryuk needed.

A few moments pass, Light has already turned on his TV and started writing names down in order to bring justice to this world. And Ryuk has grown impatient.

"Light, I need you to get me more of those apples. They're so delicious. I can't wait any longer."

"Ryuk just be patient. I'm almost done here." Light said calmly. His back was turned to Ryuk and had zero intentions of stopping his work.

After a few minutes pass, Ryuk gets too restless and starts thinking of ways he can get Light to just bring him some damn apples. It's not that hard.

"Light will you just take a second to bring me some!" Ryuk said, grabbing Light's shoulder and shaking him.

Light refuses, and that broke it for Ryuk's patience.

"Fine. I'll just have to make you stop then." Ryuk lifted Light up from his chair and dragged him to the bed, pinning him down so that Light was trapped in his grip.

"Ryuk what the hehehehlllll!?" Light feels his stomach vibrated as Ryuk goes to measures he never thought he would have to.

"Ahahaha stopppp!! Ryuk this is rihihidiculous!" Light couldn't manage to get out his hold for some reason. "Let me gohoho, why do you neeheheed apples so bahahahad!?"

"Because!! I want them!!! And you'll get them for me one way or another!!" Ryuk demanded, holding his arms now with one hand and poking his ribs with the other.

"I've seen you humans doing this and know it can be a great strategy for one to give up without any real damage. Is it working Light? ~"

Light starts blushing, cackling as he realizes he's far more ticklish than he imagined. He hadn't been tickled since he was a kid, but man he really hasn't outgrown it.

"Ahahahahaha Rihihiyuk plehehehehease, Ihihi cahahahan't!!" Light tries all he can to get out of Ryuk's hold. He finally realizes all he has to do is get some stupid apples for this cursed Shinigami he's stuck with.

"Okayhehehehay fine!! I'll get your stuhuhupid apples!!"

With that, Ryuk let's him go, and Light falls to the ground, breathing heavily to catch his breath.

"Jeez you have some kind of crazy addiction or something. Ugh." Light collects himself and goes to the kitchen.

Where did mom leave the apples? They're not where they usually are. Could we be out? Ugh. I really don't want to waste time going to the store. Oh well. His loss. What a waste of energy that was.

"We don't have any Ryuk. You'll just have to wait until we get more." Light said, sitting back down and grabbing his pencil.

"WHAT!? What do you MEAN you're out?? Go get some more!!" Ryuk wasn't having it. He grabs Light again and pins him on his stomach, grabbing his waist, sides, ribs, whatever it took to finally get the words out of Light that he'll go get more.

"Nahahahaha dammit Ryuk!! I cahahahan't, I hahahahave to write these nahahahames now!!"

Light withstands Ryuk's torment until a it was too much. He finally agrees to get more apples for Ryuk. That damn Shinigami. What a distraction he could be.

"Am I that pretty to you...?" The tone of her voice was unusually somber for their accompanying words.

A melancholy smile returned Miyako's adoration as she leaned only slightly into that gentle touch. It was reassuring, and confusing. Miyako said often that she'd been taken in by Hikari's light (usually with the addition of the joke 'no pun intended'), that she loved Hikari's gentle, calming radiance.

So why would Miyako still love her when she wasn't any of that? When the darkness threatened to take her, overwhelming her capacity of the traits her partner most valued?

She failed to consider that this vulnerability was just as much a product of her gentle nature, that the things Miyako so loved about her left her wide open for depression and disassociation. She failed to consider that the one who loved her most had accepted her damaged mind as a part of her, and cared for this version of Hikari Yagami as strongly as the properly medicated and happy one.

She simply considered herself very, very lucky, and was deeply grateful to her partner for putting up with her.

And she had never once spoke out loud her doubts and confusion about Miyako's love for her.

She knew well it would hurt her, and that was more important than the need for reassurance and validation. Miyako was a simple girl. Even the preface that Hikari knew her feelings to be pointless and irrational wouldn't cushion the blow very much.

So such things should be buried deep in her heart.

That was for the best.

The heartburn in her chest would be white noise unto oblivion. That was the happiest option for everyone, her included.

Oh, hello there ~ Give me a min while I gather my thoughts about tough questions from the get go lmao. I have controversial answers for them both, so 🙈. Bear with me, please.

For the purpose of these questions, and this ask game in general, canon is manga. Keeping that in mind, plus the fact I haven't read manga arc 2 in a longggg while, here's my answer:

7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?

This is tough. I don't particularly hate any character. But if there was a character I was neutral towards but started to dislike because of fanfics, specifically because of their portrayal in fanfics: Soichiro.

I started to dislike him when a lot of the fics I read treated him as some sort of morally righteous person whose viewpoint is never wrong. Soichiro Is Always Right TM. Soichiro Is Best Father TM.

And Fanon Soichiro? Thus ends up as the moral mouth piece of the writer/viewer. So. many. preachy dialogues.

This is the man who was willing to shoot a blank at his son at zero distance. Allowed for 64 fucking cameras in his son's room, including a camera in his home's bathroom. Decided to isolate himself at the same time as Light because heaven forbid he control his overwhelming emotions, stay out there and help prove his son innocent faster

Soichiro has layers. He is good at his job and not father of the year. A person can be both. His decisions... well, he could have done better. This man puts duty above all else.

He'd fit well as a Stark in Westeros. Without the family loyalty bit. Take that as you will.

9. worst part of canon

Several. The casual misogyny shown by all characters towards women. Including, amusingly enough, women themselves. L's 64 cameras in Light's room. Light's lines where he's just being a funny and goofy guy who talks about tickling others just the right way. L's death (I read halfway through second arc just waiting for L to come back. He didn't.)

However, the worst part of canon (for me. this is an important distinction), was Light's death. I hated Light's death in the manga. It was so pathetic. So raw. Pitiful. It made me pity Light.

And I never wanted to do that.

I would rather Light won and lived a sad, lonely, existence where he could never achieve the world he wanted despite all the people he's killed and all the sacrifices he's made. Irony at its finest. I would rather Light lived imprisoned, isolated and slowly forgotten for life, as cruel as it sounds.

But we get the manga death. And I pity Light Yagami, unable to comprehend the immorality of his actions, unable to even understand he had become the very thing he hated (and killed). He dies begging Ryuk not to kill him. In full view of the Task Force and SPK, with no privacy for dignity or shame.

So yes, I think the worst part is the ending. I think manga Light deserved better (or worse, depending on how you look at it).

I'm aware this is a controversial opinion, however that's how it is for me and others are allowed to have differing views <3
