Set to kick off in Cape Town at the Grand Arena, GrandWest later this year, followed by Durban at the Durban ICC and then Pretoria, the three city tour will now conclude a day later in the capital city. 'Due to a huge public outcry following our sold out announcement on social media yesterday, we decided, if possible, to extend the tour in Gauteng. The venue was available and post discussions with Tamia and her management team late last night, her availability for an extra show was confirmed. She also expressed much excitement and delight in staying slightly longer in South Africa. It's official, the extra show is confirmed', stated Vertex Entertainment's Thato Segaole. 4 sports events to look forward to in 2023

Women’s T20 World Cup

South Africa will be hosting the 2023 edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament kicks off on February 20 until February 26 2023. South Africa’s national team will be joined by the seven highest ranked teams in the International Cricket Council Women’s T20I Rankings. The remaining two teams were Ireland and Bangladesh, the finalists of the qualifying tournament. Australia, India, England, Pakistan, the West Indies, Sri Lanka and New Zealand make up the other teams. The matches will be played at three stadiums: Newlands Cricket Ground, St George’s Park Cricket Ground and Boland Park. The final will be played in Cape Town at Newlands.

Betway SA T20 

The Betway SA T20 is a new South African T20 cricket league that launched in January 2023. It’s a month-long league featuring six teams with over 100 local and global star players. The league is formatted in such a way that 33 matches will be played in some of the greatest locations South Africa has to offer that the six teams will all play each other twice before the semi-finals and finals. The six teams are Durban’s Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The league started on January 10 and the final will be played on February 11. The matches are taking place in Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Paarl, Pretoria and Gqeberha.

Formula E in Cape Town 

Motor car fans were eagerly anticipating the announcement of the return of Formula One to South Africa in 2023. But it was not to be. Logistical and bureaucratic red tape meant fans would have to wait a little while longer. But there will be some racing fun for fans. The Formula E series will be racing in Cape Town in February. Formula E, officially the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, is a single-seater motorsport championship for electric cars. The series had been slowly gaining in popularity and in 2023, the racers will be using the third Generation race car. The Cape Town street track is predicted to be one of the fastest in the series. The race will be taking place on February 25 around the streets of Cape Town.

FIFA Women’s World Cup

It’s World Cup time again and this year it is being jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is scheduled to be the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup competition. It is scheduled to take place from July 20 to August 20 2023. It is the first Women’s World Cup that will have more than one host nation. It’s also the first ever senior World Cup with two host nations from two different confederations. The tournament will feature 32 teams with the opening match between New Zealand and Norway in Auckland. The final will be held in Australia. The United States are the defending champions, having won the previous two tournaments. Banyana Banyana will be participating in the tournament.

Travel Stokvel makes travel easier

For South Africans, travelling with your family and friends has never been easier, doable and more accessible than it is right now. Most of all, it is affordable. Your favourite local destinations are within reach of your pocket thanks to the Travel Stokvel. According to National Association of Stokvel South Africa, some R44-billion is collectively saved in 820,000 stokvels in South Africa.

Holiday travelling is by and large, always a group activity. Getting a group together to help save for a holiday in advance using the Stokvel seems like a wise choice. The initiative created by Flight Centre and supported by South African Tourism.

According to the National Association of Stokvels South Africa, some R44-billion is collectively saved in 820 000 stokvels across the country.

Communal savings schemes such as stokvels are not new to South Africans. It has been a tried and tested way of saving. With travel being cumbersome and sometimes pricey, it is only natural that South Africans look to communal savings to help them enjoy their country.

Today, tourism establishments and travel agencies have picked up on this trend with many stokvel travel packages becoming increasingly available. Last year, Flight Centre, in partnership with South African Tourism, committed itself to stokvel travel options.

At the centre of this movement is the understanding that there are millions of aspiring travellers scattered across the country. For them, having access to debt-free wanderlust is a breath of fresh air.

At the recent Travel Expo held at Johannesburg’s Ticketpro Dome in February this year, Flight Centre saw a record number of sign-ups for the agency’s Stokvel club. It proved to be popular, with a staggering 48% increase in sign-ups.

South African Tourism and its travel partners are also pushing this group savings agenda with travel deals on South African Tourism’s domestic travel platform, Sho’t Left, already joining the Stokvel way of payment.

Additionally, Sho’t Left has been embarking on a Travel Week campaign that seeks to give travellers up to 50% off on domestic travel deals. Get your friends and family together, discuss your travel goals and simply commit. South Africa is an exquisite country characterised by a limitless sense of awe and wonder, a country begging to be explored. And together, we can all explore it.

Fantasia 2019 : PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE de Brian De Palma ce samedi au Cinéma Impérial!

J’ai vu Phantom of the Paradise pour la première fois il y a quelques années et c’est immédiatement devenu un de mes films préférés. Loin d’être une comédie musicale conventionnelle, il s’agit en fait d’un film d’horreur décadent, grotesque et incroyablement imaginatif où le réalisateur Brian De Palma multiplie les effets stylistiques. C’est rien de moins qu’un de ses chefs-d’œuvre, peut-être même son meilleur film. Un opéra rock brillamment conçu, filmé et monté, avec de formidables chansons composées par Paul Williams, qui incarne également le mystérieux Swan, aux côtés de  Jessica Harper (pré-Suspiria) en Phoenix, du fabuleux William Finley dans le rôle-titre, et de l’extraordinaire Gerrit Graham en rock star androgyne. Phantom of the Paradise est une dose pure de sensations fortes, de frissons et d’étincelles cinématographiques...
