Even though Steve Winwood mostly sang in the blues outfits, he has a voice that could suit anything. I mean, you only have to check his tunes with Go, which was a progressive rock band that featured among others him, Klaus Schulze, Michael Schrieve and that was led by Stomu Yamashta, a Japanese jazz percussionist. Many would claim that the description makes it all sound similar to Winwood's work with Ginger Baker, yet there is a difference. When you listen to Go, you observe it is closer to the progressive rock genre than Baker's Air Force, although Go does veer quite close to jazz. However, the fusion of different disparate elements results into a tone that seems to take the 70's electronica for its basis, but that is predominantly played by rock and blues musicians.
