Throwback Thursday, Fandom Edition: Vampires of London

The Magnusquerade is an AU, created by NevillesGran and Listless_Songbird, in which all of the Fear Avatars in The Magnus Archives are vampires, with a variety of different powers depending on which Fears they serve in canon.  Eye vampires can read minds and manipulate memories, Corruption vampires can command vermin, Vast vampires can fly, and so on.  In this world, the Archives staff were first Elias’s thralls, and then became Jon’s after Elias turned him.  All of the titles consist of corporate jargon.

After reading an almost incidental line in an early fic, Management Skills With Regard To Attempted Homicide, I thought, “I know exactly how this scenario would play out!” and the author gave me permission to write that scenario when I asked.  It was one of those ideas that would not leave me alone until I put it on paper.

I posted Encouraging Employee Initiative on October 2, 2019.  Since then, I’ve written or co-written 25 more fanworks in this universe, more than half of my TMA fic output to date, and totaling almost 58,000 words.  One of those stories connected me with @amusedmuralist, who’s now among my closest online friends, and we’ve spent many, many hours discussing possible storylines for the vampires at the Magnus Institute and beyond.  A few other amazing writers have contributed to the AU as well.  The Magnusquerade gave me the opportunity to play with my favorite telepathy and mind control tropes – and to write Elias as even more of a Manipulative Mentor Figure than he is in the show – without worrying about whether I was being too self-indulgent.  I hope that everyone is able to experience this kind of creative and collaborative joy at least once in their fannish lives.

Contributions to this AU – including my own – have slowed over the last year.  I still hope to return to it at some point, but even if I don’t, it’s still one of the best things that’s happened to me in this, and maybe any, fandom.

Now I did not say nu blog. Some time ago I may have said something along the lines of 'blog will be deleted lol bye', but I have an update!

THIS piece of shit is no longer banned! Sooooooo, that means a fresh start doesn't necessarily mean deletion and relocation. Nah, I can freshen up and get my shit together.

Pretty much the same policy as last time as laid out in the bio (except for one change but I'll get to that later), but I got some plans. Make it a real throwback to some old fandom confession blogs I've been lurking on.

When I get a confession, I will do my best to add a visual aid in the form of a image edit, gif, short video, or, if the confession concerns a specific song or album, an audio file you'll be able to listen to via Tumblr. No external links.

This will let me polish up any errors in a sent confession and make everything a little nicer to look at and interact with. I also hope it will encourage YOU to make longer confessions, more thought out confessions, hotter takes, and so on.

This also means I will no longer be posting confessions as straight up replies to asks, so feel free to go off anon. If you do, please specify if you'd like me to credit you for the confession.

Thirsty Thursdays will be held each week where I will exclusively post any horny or otherwise sexually explicit confessions I have on hand. So don't worry, you still get to be perverts. One day a week. Use it wisely.

TBT: A suspicious gift | Kaeluc Fic

I almost missed the time for the next throwback thursday. 😆

For today I picked my first ever Kaeluc fic. I wrote it for the 30 Days Of Kaeluc Event in 2021, and it was a totally spontaneous decision to participate back then. I never regretted it though, because it opened a completely new world to me. Before, I had never been an active part of a fandom like this, and I am very happy that I was able to make this experience.

With a suspiciously furrowed brow, Diluc looked at the small package on the table in front of him. He had found it there when he had intended to close the bar for the night. There could be no doubt about the sender of the box - Kaeya had spent the evening in that very place. Besides, no one else would have had the idea of tying these two small flowers of all things - a calla lily and a small lamp grass - to the box. What mischief was the man up to now again? After looking at the package for a long time, his curiosity won out and Diluc untied the ribbon to open the box. Inside was a book. Although it was a different edition from the one Diluc remembered from his childhood, he immediately recognised the title. Back then, it had been both their favourite book, full of brave heroes who experienced exciting adventures and saved everyone around them time and time again. They had borrowed it over and over from the library and spent whole afternoons playing out the adventures with their wooden swords and hobbyhorses. A wave of nostalgia swept over Diluc, and he stroked the leather cover of the book thoughtfully before finally opening it. On the first page he found a dedication, clearly and distinctly written in Kaeya's expressive handwriting:

4. what’s an inside joke you have with your family or friends?

a little joke me and one of my besties do is every time there is text on an establishing shot that tells us where the scene is taking place, we say "ohhhh, That's where that is!" and i don't know why we have continued doing this for the better part of a decade, but we do it basically every time this happens. this is not something that is funny, but it is funny that we have continued to do this.

5. what made you start your blog?

it was so long ago.... my bestie had a tumblr and a few fanfic writers that i really liked had tumblrs, and i don't know, i just figured what the hell. and now here we are!

6. what’s the best and worst part of being online/a creator?

specifically about being an online creator, probably the best is that it's a low stakes way to be creative and have people read my work! getting published (or even self-publishing) is such a hassle. i want to write and edit my work, and then just drop it for people to read right away! And because there's that immediacy of publishing, I don't have to feel an intense level of anxiety over a work being "perfect." i'm tempted to say that the worst part is knowing that other people are better liked and more popular than me, but that would still be an issue for me even if I was in traditional publishing. but the online aspect of this (seeing other people get lots of engagement on their accounts, seeing fics with hundreds of comments and bookmarks, seeing particular fics getting discussed as having fandom-wide importance) are really obvious, and it does feel embarrassing to be so jealous of works/creators that are, in the larger scheme of culture, about as unknown as my own work

11. what do you consider to be romance?

At this point in my life, I really do want to be obsessed with someone who is obsessed with me. I am pretty okay spending time on my own, I entertain myself really well, but it means a lot to me when somebody wants to, like, hear about the stuff I did while I was alone. Like "yes, tell me about the movie you watched," or "what color did you paint your nails?" or whatever. I'm not a very interesting person, so I'd like to feel interesting to someone! I also like it when someone wants to touch me! It's good we live in a world where people ask before they touch each other, I guess, but I'm bad at inviting physical contact, so when someone just goes for it (and I like it), that feels really special! Also also I think it's romantic when someone I like makes choices for me, sorry!

like, sure. i mean, i don't know, it's not something that keeps me up. i think i personally veer sort of skeptical about ghosts/aliens in my own life, but i have zero interest in ever telling somebody that their encounters aren't real just because i've never experienced something like that. like i'm fully aware that i'm a spiritual nutjob (semi-ironically, but not ironically enough), so i'm very 👍 to whatever people vibe with

19. favourite thing about the day?

getting to watch people go around with their dogs and kids! also brunch!! and when you do things during the day, it means you can relax at night time! and when the weather is nice, i do like actually being outside during the day and getting some sun (the heat has just been so bad lately, I can't remember what that was like haha)

24. what’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for?

A coworker of mine is writing a script, and he said my notes on the script were both really helpful and also made him laugh a lot, and that made me feel really good!

While the theories/analyses in the works are still in the drafts, I just wanted to share some thoughts about what might & will happen today for Stranger Things Day (the 2023 edition). Lovely promotional art btw!

Now I'm not super-duper excited about all of it but, (in fact much of ST related content hasn't excited me for a while now) but that isn't the point, I appreciate a throwback, not thursday but monday in that case.

I think it's a good move on their part, especially for stories that are culturally significant, to return & go back through the whole journey that happened before the finish line; mainly becauses it engages the audience in revisiting in a way that's helpful for people who don't have the time to rewatch all of it & also really being part of the moment that's happening. In the sense that they are being stimulated via their own experiences & memories of it, & that is always good. Especially if most of it is positive.

And I enjoy the way they've done the marketing about pre-Season 5 so far, it's present but not overwhelming & has certain subtleties to it like in for the new ice cream flavours for example. It's all a bit creepy yet familiar, I enjoy it.

Nooooow... I also did not finish some of my theories, that I could have dropped because they were very much shorter than usual & I don't think they were about things that would have been easily disproved faster than I would've liked to be but you never know. If it's to drop something that's going to be proven false in 2 days, there's no point in dropping it anyway.

Do I think we're going to get a lot from this ST Day ? No. Apart from possibly them giving us the episode titles of the final season which I doubt because it seems a bit early for me & new infos on the play which... we already have covered enough for me, I think 🤔 & believe it or not, the new things I hears about it are quite intriguing & reassuring, so that's nice! but apart from that, I don't think we're going to get much.

With the strikes that happened & that are ongoing, the writing that to my knowledge has yet to be completed & filming that hasn't even started, I don't really see what we could get.

Now I could be completely wrong, there might be something huge in stores or multiple things that are going to be revealed.

My wish would be to have a new video game, specifically a horror one that's slightly abstract & psychological. First person too! But a follow-up to the ST arcade games, 1984 & 3 covering Season 4 would be nice to. And we're not at a point where we can get an open-world ST game so I'm not asking.

Perhaps some new comics or books, they're always nice to me, canon or not. Maybe some merch, though I'm not a big ST merch lover, not that it's bad, I'm just not really interested in most of it.

Now given the revisiting aspect plus other elements of this day speaks to me plus works with some of the theories I've been working on, oh yes! Here's what I'm most excited to get into soon is:

- a return to Season 2, (Season 1's chaotic little sister but who follows in her footsteps & admires her very much) they've been pushing the fandom to revisit this season for Season 5 and I'm very eager to see what they are going to push forward about it given the fact they called it underrated which THEY ARE RIGHT! The fandom does not appreciate this season enough plus has a delusional hate towards "The Lost Sister" which is a fine episode. And it has Will as a main protagonist with a heavy focus on the Byers, with an interesting take on a Lovecraftian menace, so how can you not appreciate it ? So yeah, that's that.

Next, to my own surprise: - "The First Shadow", yes I did not expect myself to be as interested right now as I am about this given what it covers but the more the crew talks about it & the more new elements about it come out, the more I think there's truly something worth our time & engagement here. First, good news, it's definitely not mandatory to watch it for Season 5 which is good, secondly, it's going to be a retelling and a new exploration of events & characters in the past which is always nice and definitely something we need after Season 4 & finally, actual nuances & complexities for the character of Henry Creel, finally! cause I can't take the characterization & the writing of his character that's been done in Season 4. (Though I heard he may have a romance, which I hope it is not the case, because one of the very few positives of his character is that there was absolutely no romance attached to his character compared to the rest so I really hope it does not happen...) So let's see what this play will do & what it might save going into Season 5 because it does look promising.

After that, we have the messy & campy one, the - return to Season 3: now I know what the fandom thinks of this season & while I agree it's far from perfect & turned many aspects of ST for the worse, the campiness & over the top aspect of certain elements works for what it's talking about & paying hommage to. It has it's own charm & has to me the better horror elements of ST so far or at least the better result; the antagonists were just fantastic to me plus the monster is one of the coolest. So it has still a lot in it that's very enjoyable, plus Scoops Troop is probably the best group of the show.

Now it's turned upside-down which likely means that putting it this way compared to the other was intentional and all I can think of about is that it's supposed to hint at again that weird nature of Season 3 that's different compared to most of the other seasons (mostly... *cough* Season 4 *cough*) and that they may point to it in some way. There's a lot of themes, choices & story elements of Season 3 that remains unanswered & vague, quite "meta" in fact. Perhaps on purpose, perhaps not since these elements, sometimes negative & which already started to appear in Season 2 are right now impossible for me to give a straight answer because The Duffers have not been reassuring about this part of their writing to say the least. So we will see how it turns out but it could be interesting.

Next we have to return to Season 1: which we can all agree is still the best written season of Stranger Things to date, it is by definition a masterpiece but I am not excited as perhaps others to return to it because they haven't done a good job following on the quality of it plus having a true continuity with the stories & themes it started and the way they explored those. I am afraid of more retcons they could pull with that season which clearly hints & answers different mysteries of it in a way that's completely different to what the latest seasons have given us plus not put forward all the storylines they've left in the mud for it's characters that aren't about romance.

It's always a pleasure going back to this season but if it's to justify the mistakes of the latest season, they can keep it. We need to the actual better parts & elements of that season. The photography, the cinematography, the music, the themes & ambience of it, the characters & the way they're explored... If not, there's no point.

And finally, the one I don't care for, the return to Season 4: I'm not going to repeat what I've already said about this season, most people know & you probably have already guessed what I feel about it but I truly feel it's the only really true mediocre content ST has given me so far. I will not act like it's the worst thing in the world because it would be simply not true but it has more bad than good and when it's bad, it's really bad. Not even a gorgeous usage of Kate Bush will save it for me (it ruins it itself... 🤭). I don't hate it like I used to anymore but I'm still very much annoyed by it.

Between retcons, uninteresting developments & characters, regressions, missed opportunities and an AMPLIFICATION of the worst aspects of Season 3 plus unnecessary long for what it has to say, I just haven't been able to appreciate any of it one year later. And I don't think I ever will, not even if the final season is a f*cking masterpiece & save what it did. Perhaps as a part of a whole series if the ending really makes up for it but alone, it's horrible to go through.

So yeah, that's it. They probably already started by the time I've finished and dropped this post but it's okay, I have fully accepted that time is not really my friend anymore. X) I hope y'all have a good day and hopefully we will get interesting stuff & surprises.

Music Monday #228: VICTON - Virus release: November 2022 genre: Kpop cw: intermittent bright flashing

Yeah, I know, I've been saying I'd feature this MV for how many weeks now? Several. Like, all month. And it was supposed to come up here even before that and then didn't because reasons of my health being complete shithouse for months now. But I am determined, dangnabit! And have some things to say.

Let's just say VICTON has been Going Through It over the last couple of years. Debuting in November 2016 as a seven member unit on Plan A (later Play M) Ent, VICTON has been on a steady if not very flashy progression, releasing several singles and EPs and one OST before finally putting out a full album in 2021, then changing companies to IST in 2022. It could have been a promising new phase - IST is among the more successful of the small labels - but between Chan's DUI investigation last September (and subsequent departure from the group) and then Subin, Hanse, and Byungchan being unable to come to satisfactory contract terms this past April (due to military service requirements, Seungsik, Seungwoo, and Sejun are still on their original contracts), there's a very real chance that we've hit the end of the road. There hasn't been an official disbandment notice, but it wouldn't be unprecedented for a group to have a silent disbanding. On the other hand, the industry also has yet to pull out a success with a group whose members are signed across different labels1, so while I'm still clinging to hope as an ALICE, I know that hope is quite thin indeed.

Getting back to the song itself, Virus isn't really fast enough to be called a proper dance beat while at the same time having too many EDM elements to be properly called a ballad either. The use of flanging on the members' voices works for me, but makes this a somewhat atypical track for a group whose fandom name is an "acronym" for Always We Love the Voice. XD The rest of the EP is more straightforwardly melodic while still being in that space between dance and ballad.

Maybe because of what happened in the two months ahead of its release, the video carries a certain melancholy feel to it that may or may not actually be warranted? This also only has the five members in it which, given the usual production cycle, makes me wonder if they weren't made to take an afternoon to redo the group scenes and then the whole thing re-edited to remove Chan's participation in it. My ear isn't tuned enough to tell if they re-recorded the EP as well - I suspect not, because that could have been a potentially huge expense, depending on where in the cycle they were when he was dismissed, but I really couldn't say.

Seungwoo (who was not part of this EP) has completed his service, but Seungsik and Sejun have only just started theirs (enlistments in March and June of this year, respectively). Given the contract issue and the low level expectation that Hanse and Byungchan will start their manditory service terms next year, if they are still able to work together, another comeback is likely to be some time off yet.

"Choice" is out now wherever you like to do your Kpop streaming and likely still available for physical purchase as well. If that EP tickles your fancy, I recommend giving the rest of their discography a try as well.

1. yes, I know there are groups doing the still-together-across-labels thing, but GOT7 has done one release this way and no one else has been doing it long enough to be called a success yet, so I stand by this claim.

Throwback Thursday, Fandom Edition: Wayside School Kid

This art was inspired by Chapter 25 of Wayside School Is Falling Down, in which Mrs. Jewls's class dresses up for Picture Day. There's no date on it, but I probably drew it sometime in the early or mid 1990s.

Not all of the students are pictured, but I'm pretty sure of who some of them are supposed to be.

Wayside School was one of my first literary obsessions, and almost everything about the series holds up to this day. I love the humor and the surreal worldbuilding, and the way the latter two books in particular blend episodic storytelling with multi-chapter arcs. I love the occasional forays into genuine horror, from a version of hell (or maybe purgatory) where students are trapped in the same classroom doing busywork for eternity, to a succession of substitute teachers who psychologically torment the kids in the third book. I love how, no matter how many weird things are happening to the main cast, there are always hints of other, unexplained forces at play in the background. Some of the chapters that have stuck in my mind the most firmly involve Miss Zarves (there is no Miss Zarves) and the 19th story (there is no 19th story), as well as the trio of mysterious men who seemed have some kind of control over the reality of the school, and asked questions like "Do you want to be free, or do you want to be safe?" I also, unsurprisingly, loved the Dr. Pickle chapters; although the ongoing "Paul can't stop himself from pulling Leslie's pigtails" story thread now carries some uncomfortable and all-too-real messages about consent and personal space, the idea of a school authority figure who hypnotizes the students in his care was, as a fantastical device, extremely formative for me.

"Joe's triangle went ting" and "I got a tutu too" and "How can you chew your nose?" and "Mr. Kidswatter is a Mugworm Griblick" were in-jokes in my family for years. I referenced the series in otherwise unrelated fanfics that I wrote as a teenager. My yellowing, water-warped childhood copy of Falling Down, signed by Mr. Sachar at the Boston Book Festival in 2015, sits on my bookshelf as I write this post.

Meet The Writer

Every time the blog gets more 25 followers, a fanfic author is randomly chosen for an interview to talk about their work.

Observations:  

The writer must be following the @choicesficwriterscreations;

The writer must have joined any events of the blog (weekly or seasonal) at least once;

The writer must be active in the fandom;

The writer must follow the rules of the blog. If they were called out by the mods more than once, they’ll be deemed ineligible to the Q&A.

General Observations:

To avoid flooding the dashboard, any fanworks (including WIPs) over 500 words without keep reading will added to a new post with just the basic information and a link to the story;

Avoid mentioning the blog if your post isn't a fanfiction. We don't reblog masterlists and headcanons. Moodboards, edits, fanart, fictional characters' fake messages and social media screenshots will only appear in the blog if included in fanfic;

If you're not sure your work was reblogged, send us a message. Avoid mentioning us in your fic twice;

Admin and mod accounts only exist so writers/readers can contact us through message. Don't mention us in your posts;

Supernatural Star Jensen Ackles Is Ready for What’s Next. Are You?

When it was announced that beloved CW series Supernatural was ending after 15 years, fans were crushed. But there's plenty to look forward to before saying goodbye. Here the show's star opens up about the “beautiful” final episodes, his next move, and how he finally got his hands on Baby.

Jensen Ackles’s Supernatural journey began and ended with a road trip.

Fifteen years ago Sam and Dean Winchester (played by Jared Padalecki and Ackles, respectively) began their drive across the country in a jet-black 1967 Chevy Impala, hunting monsters, demons, and, eventually, God himself. Ackles was 26 years old at the time (the same age as the James Dean–like figure he portrays on the CW series), single, and coming off a steady career on TV, including a popular role on Days of Our Lives.

The actor is now 42 years old and just finished filming the 15th and final season of Supernatural after the coronavirus pandemic shut down production for several months. To mark the occasion, he did what Dean would do: He took a road trip. But this time things looked a little different and not just because he lacked monster-killing weapons and the iconic Impala.

“It was a sprinter van,” he tells me, back at home in Austin, after driving to the East Coast with his wife, One Tree Hill actor Danneel Harris Ackles, and their three young children. And instead of fighting the forces of evil along the way, he questioned what life might look like without the show that's been a vital part of his identity for a decade and a half.

“I needed to get back home and start figuring things out and start unpacking my life that's been in Vancouver for 15 years,” he says. “What's the next move? Where am I headed next? What interviews am I going to do? Luckily, my wife was like, ‘Stop. Can you just take a breath for a minute and play with your kids on the beach?’”

So he did. But now he’s back, talking to me over Zoom with his new, prized commissioned drawing of Winchester brothers’ smashed-up Impala behind him (a gift from his wife by artist Alessandro Paglia), trying to put into words what it feels like to leave behind a 15-year legacy.

“How have you changed in the last 15 years?” he asks me. Well, I've watched a lot of Supernatural, to be honest.

Existentialism aside, Ackles is clearly ready for his next act, even if the show's massive, fervent fandom—known as the SPN Family—may not be. Back in March 2019, Ackles, Padalecki, and their costar Misha Collins devastated diehards when they announced they'd be ending the series on their own terms after more than 300 episodes. A bit of good news is that fans will still have the conventions that honor the show and cast meet-ups that take place all over the world. Eventually.

“I love how big it's gotten and how we feel like a traveling circus going from town to town,” Ackles says. “Obviously, we'll have to wait until we're all allowed to gather in large crowds again, but I think as soon as we can start going to concerts and festivals and movie theaters, we'll start those back.”

For now Ackles is preparing for his life beyond Dean Winchester, which includes his anticipated role as the first-ever superhero in season three of Amazon Prime Video's The Boys, as well as a new production company he's starting with his wife. He filled me in on all that, how the Supernatural finale changed due to COVID-19 restrictions, and, of course, how he got his hands on the iconic 1967 Chevy Impala—which he drove to Starbucks the morning of our call.

Glamour: I almost don’t know how to ask you how it feels to end a life-changing, 15-year project like Supernatural.

Jensen Ackles: I understand how rare it is and that it's a bit of a unicorn to have a show that runs this long and to be as intensely part of it as I have. I mean, you've got procedural dramas—you know, Law & Order and stuff—but a lot of those casts come and go. To have the same two leads in every single episode for 15 years, I think, is a pretty rare feat. So I'm proud that we did it. That was really the overwhelming feeling when we filmed our last day and our last scene. It wasn't a mourning process; it was more of a proud moment of “Look at what we've done.”

The finale of Supernatural was already planned before COVID hit. Did anything in the last two episodes have to change because of filming restrictions?

We had to drop some ideas we had for the final episode, but it didn't change the story. We were supposed to have a lot of familiar faces come back, and we were going to try to filter them into a montage. It was going to be almost a break from the story and a look at how far we've come—a little tip of the hat to the fans—and we would all be able to celebrate together. Obviously, we couldn't do that. So that part of the finale episode got nixed. But the story and how it ends up, that stayed the same.

You’ve been talking about wanting Dean’s Chevy Impala, Baby, for literally years now. Did you get it?

I've wanted it since the second episode. I was like, “Wait a second. What's going to happen to this car when it's over?” I've been angling to get that car since literally season one. I was thinking, Why wouldn't they give me the car?

Then as the years went on, I thought, Oh, I'm gonna have to fight for this now. So I kept seeing if I could put it in my contract, like for years and years, and the studio, the producers were like, “Don't worry, don't worry about it.” Wink. I was like, “Yeah, you say that now.” So, in my last contract that we had, I didn’t ask for a bigger trailer; I didn’t ask for more money or more time off or anything. I said, “I want the car.”

That car is sitting about 40 feet from me and my garage. I actually drove it to Starbucks this morning and picked up some coffee.

Your wife, Danneel, has been appearing on Supernatural since season 13. Do you two have any plans to continue acting together?

We've got a company now, Chaos Machine, and we're starting to produce things together. So it'll be a more of a producing team as opposed to an on-camera duo. That’s the thing with this industry...you never know where the roads may lead or what’s just around the corner. But she and I love that. And we certainly love a challenge.

You two already run a brewery, Family Business Beer Company, together while raising a seven-year-old and three-year-old twins. How do you work together as husband and wife versus as business partners?

Very similarly actually. Divide and conquer.

Speaking of behind-the-scenes roles...you’ve directed five episodes of Supernatural. Any plans to direct Jared Padalecki's new show, Walker?

I would absolutely love to, but with my new gig on The Boys, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to. We're trying to figure out scheduling.

They're in the midst right now of building my costume for The Boys, which is a custom-built superhero suit. That is way more intense than I anticipated, which is cool. But I have to literally be in L.A., like, every two weeks for the next three months. I think it's six fittings and they're each like three- to four-hour fittings. They're literally molding things to my body, so it's intense.

What will be on your playlist for you to listen to while they mold things to your body?

Actually, funny enough, that was the first thing they asked me. Laura Jean Shannon, the costume designer, she says this is important because every superhero [she’s worked on] has a type of music. So she was like, “What would Soldier Boy listen to?”

To be fair, the first time we see him, it's World War II. So we're talking the ’40s. So we listened to big band and swing the whole first day.

In addition to your new projects, you’ve also been posting a lot about Black Lives Matter this summer—from handing out supplies at a protest to giving over your social media accounts to Black activists and politicians. What have you learned?

Looking at my kids and being a father, I’m thinking, Wow, what kind of world are they gonna have? So I've started to listen a little more and I've started to want to understand other people's experiences so that I can make a better choice about the actions I take. I've gotten pushback—[in the past] even I've looked at actors using their platform to be political and been like, “You know, nobody needs to hear that. Just do your movies and do your show. You're not a politician.”

But I've now learned that, no, you've been given a platform now with social media. And even before that, when you would give an interview to a publication, there's a voice there that is yours and you get to choose how you use that. And I think that's a responsibility that people need to take seriously. So I’ve tried to do it as inclusively as possible.

Before I let you go, please tell me what fans can expect from the final episodes?

I've said a few times that the second-to-last episode really feels like the season finale and that the final episode feels like a series finale. The series finale, episode 20, is this beautiful throwback to the whole show—to what it was, what it has been, and what it is today.

Okay, one more! What’s the creepiest thing that’s happened to you on set, in honor of spooky season?

Anything that's kind of been paranormal or supernatural? I think that they stay away. If that stuff was to happen, it's not going to happen on our set because we've got too many tools to take them down.

If your lore is correct, that is...

Right? That's true. [Laughs.] Oh, it was pepper, not salt? Damn it!

For some reason, I am getting SUPER NOSTALGIC about my old fandoms and OTPs. Particularly Boueibu and Free!

I have not forgotten that it was Boueibu (EnAtsu specifically) that brought me to Tumblr in the first place. I have not forgotten my incredibly long EnAtsu fanfic Kalyteros Parigoria, which will always be my magnum opus, and the countless comments, praises, and constructive criticism I got on it.

I have not forgotten the small Boueibu ship war that I started (and ended) which taught me to be respectful of everyone, no matter what they ship.

I have not forgotten the countless EnAtsu and MakoHaru official content that convinced me that those ships were canon.

Therefore from this Thursday on, I’ll be returning my tradition of “Throwback Thursday - OTP Edition.”

As a way to maximize variety of the content and ease of posting in this blog, I have come up with five (5) different prompts to follow in posting for each day of the week. This seeks to explore the extent of Onew and SHINee’s influence on different kinds of platforms and communities; and as art exists in different forms, this also aims to give creators of different kinds an opportunity to exhibit their abilities and let them shine. 

This blog will (with the best of their ability) comply with the following posting themes/schedules:

Music Mondays: From carefully curated playlists, to self-written compositions, to a special selection of favorite Onew/SHINee songs, Music Monday will focus more on (you guessed it) music. There will be two songs of the day, which will (1) reflect the admin’s personal choice of a song that reminds her of Onew, and (2) reflect the admin’s current SHINee/Onew song choice for the day. Fans can submit personally-curated playlists of favorite SHINee/Onew songs, or of songs that they dedicate to Onew. 

Talent Tuesdays: This aims to give opportunity to our beloved fan artists and creators to showcase their art. Fans can submit fanart of Onew and SHINee that they made, edits, dance and song covers, and more as long as it’s owned/made by the person who submitted themselves (to protect the creators from reposted art). The admin will go through the “shinee fanart” and “onew fanart” tag on Tumblr to discover hidden gems, as well.

Wordy Wednesdays: During this day of the week, it’s the fandom writers’ time to exhibit their written fan fictions about Onew and SHINee. There will be a random word/writing prompt given by the admin at the beginning of the day which the writers can opt to do, although it is but a mere suggestion and any kind of sfw fan fiction will be accepted. There will be a chosen fic of the day by the admin, which will be chosen from three sources: (1) ao3, (2) under the “shinee fics” tumblr tag, and (3) direct submissions to the page. 

Throwback Thursdays:  This is the day to bring out your saved Onew pictures, for this day will commemorate Onew’s life journey as a member of SHINee. Any old photos and old, nostalgic moments of Onew and SHINee will be accepted, as long as the source will be properly credited (especially for fansites and fan creators). 

Featured Fridays: For all of you shippers (might also be friendly, platonic shipping) out there, this is your day. For this day of the week, as long as Onew has someone with him in the photos, videos, gifs, art, and more, it’s in! This aims to explore and exhibit Onew’s friendship and dynamics with different people. This is also sort of a wildcard, since any kind of media will be accepted as long as it meets the standards set above. 

Saturdays and Sundays will be free days. That means, posting will be random during these days. 

In following this routine schedule, we aim to foster more enjoyment and participation from the fans by building anticipation for each week and giving them time to prepare for their chosen kinds of work.

throwback thursday: birthday edition!

before noct's best boy birthday bash tomorrow - and before I post the little fic I did for him this year - I thought it might be nice to look back at what I'd written for him in the past too

[2017] Happy - For his birthday, Nyx gives Noctis something he never knew how to ask for. But somehow, Nyx always knows.

[2018] Of Stars & Sea - Noctis never asks for much on his birthday. The things he wants can't be wrapped up in silver paper and baked into chocolate cake. To walk the streets with his lover, to enjoy the dark without being alone, to smell the sea and dream in peace are small enough gifts that can't fit in a package. Somehow though, Nyx is able to give him every single one.

this fandom has given me so many memories. there will never be enough words - or fic lol - to express how grateful I am to still be writing for it! I hope you all still enjoy my little planks on the raft ❤
