#2270 - Ambigolimax sp. - Threeband Slug

A genus of keelback slug, at least for now - there is ongoing debate in slug circles about the exact taxonomic relationships of Ambigolimax and its relatives, and for that matter how many species are in the genus - it may get demoted to a subgenus of Lehmannia. All three currently accepted species are widespread, frequently greenhouse pests, and found in New Zealand.

Despite how dry it's been, I saw a couple of toads on today's walk!

Seen:

One threeband slug

Two toads of the anaxyrus genus (I think they might be Fowler's toads?)

Found this friend shaped pal on the sidewalk in Folsom, California.

I come home after dark and I try to make sure I keep a light on the ground so as not to hurt any of the slugs and snails that come out at night here!

Excellent slime friend. Looks like a Balkan threeband? Given the stripes you can kinda make out. Milky slugs look similar but generally look more mottled and not striped. Still...a pal. And I’m glad you’re careful not to walk on them! Thanks for sharing :)
