Why UK's Resort is Best To Stay:
The UK's resorts provide their guests with a wide range of opulent amenities. Once you have completed booking the resort, the only thing left to do is to relax and enjoy your holiday. These resorts will stop at nothing to treat them like royalty while making sure that their guests have the most comfortable stay possible. Even if it is just temporary, it is a stay fit for a king.
The staff will look after all of your needs, including washing and meals. Resorts hire security personnel to patrol the entire property around-the-clock to make sure guests are safe while they are here.
Places which are Tourist Hotspots Near to UK’s Resorts Khopoli Which You Can Visit:
1. ADLABS Imagica:
The UK's Resort is only 8 km away from Adlabs Imagica. On the Mumbai-Pune expressway, close to Khopoli, is the theme park Adlabs Imagica.
Visit Adlabs Imagica in Pune for a day bundled with adventure and excitement. There is no other place in khopoli like this 130-acre theme park to let you unwind and relax. Adlabs Imagica is a wonderful place to have fun and enjoy yourself for people of all ages and is a great weekend away from Khopoli. Adlabs Imagica, the excellent family vacation spot, is made of three huge parks: a traditional theme park, a water park, and a snow park.
2. Ashtavinayak Mahad Temple:
One of the Ashtavinayak temples of the Hindu god Lord Ganesha is the Varad Vinayak Ganpati of Mahad Ganpati Temple (also spelled Varadavinayaka Mahad). It is situated in Mahad, a tiny town in the Khalapur taluka of Raigad District, Maharashtra, India, close to Karjat and Khopoli, temple is 10 mins' walking distance from UK's Resort.
The Varadvinayak Mahad Ganpati Temple/Mandir is the seventh of Ashtavinayak's Ganesha temples to be seen on the journey for Ashtavinayak Darshan. The Swayambhu murti is the idol at the VaradVinayak Mahad Ganpati Temple, which is regarded as a Math. With a tiled roof, a dome 25 feet high with a golden pinnacle, and a golden peak (Kalas) with a carving of a snake, the temple is extremely simply constructed (also a deity revered by Hindus).
3. Lonavala Hill Station:
Lonavala, definitely one of Maharashtra's most well-liked hill destinations, is the perfect location for a quick three-day weekend from Khopoli. Being a hill station, one might assume that it is mostly a place to chill, stroll around, and take in the breathtaking views of the hill, but there is more to it.
Three days might not be enough time in Lonavala because there are so many things to do. Keep the first day free to tour the places around the resort. The following two days should be spent on outdoor exploration and adventure-related activities in the resort.
4. Khandala:
Khandala became more well-known after appearing in the lyrics of a well-known Bollywood song. Khandala is the perfect destination for a romantic trip because it allows you to rediscover your love by taking long, intimate walks, cooking romantic dinners, and even spending peaceful times at a campsite.
A romantic hike up to the Kune Waterfalls is a must-do if you and your partner are daring. In Khandala, one can also visit a few temples and caves.
5. Kamshet:
Many tourists from Pune and Mumbai like spending their weekends at Kamshet which is near Khopoli. This location is well-liked because it has a lot to offer various types of tourists.
Adventure seekers can enjoy parasailing, paragliding, and trekking in Shindewadi, explorers can take in the Bedsa and Bhairi Caves' sightseeing, and those seeking a quiet retreat can take in Pawna Lake's picturesque vistas. A handful of the temples there are also fairly well-known in Kamshet.
6. Panchgani:
Along with eating Parsi food, one of the first things you should do in Panchgani is visit the Kamalgad Fort. You will need roughly a day to make the journey from the hill's base to the fort and back. Spend the following day taking a stroll through Panchgani's picturesque areas because you'll be exhausted after your trip and the hike up to the fort.
7. Zenith Waterfall Khopoli:
With its lush vegetation and rainfall that pierce our souls, the monsoon season breathes fresh life into arid land and replenishes it with a new flow that stokes new passion. You left this monsoon since you love to travel to first see the Zenith Waterfalls in Khopoli, Maharashtra, which is 5 km from UK's Resort on the Old Bombay-Pune Highway. The rains in the middle of July had made the weather very great and lovely. You made the decision to travel to Khopoli's Zenith Waterfalls with our hiking companions.
One of the most well-known waterfalls in Maharashtra is Zenith. It can be found at Khopoli. Since Zenith waterfall Lonavala is 14 kilometers from Khandala Lonavala, it is frequently visited by tourists who are visiting Lonavala Khandala during the rainy season.
8. Palasdari Dam:
Indian Railways built the Palasdari dam as a water source for the neighbouring Karjat station which is 5 km away from UK's Resort. This dam is close to Palasdari town and railway station. It is a well-liked picnic location as well as a preferred monsoon getaway. There are a lot of farmhouses nearby. It is located along the state route between Karjat and Khopoli.
Conclusion:
So, the next time you have a long weekend, go to one of these locations with us if you want to escape the busy city life. We're confident you won't get bored because there are so many things to do and see. Therefore, reserve your weekend or vacation at UK's Resort, the Best Resort Near Pune and Mumbai.

A Complete Guide on How to Apply Visa for India from the UK
If you travel regularly for work or leisure to India, you must already know how Indian Visa system is the most complicated & now so very dynamic in the world. And, for those who are/will be travelling to India for the first time from the UK, this article is here to simplify the process of navigating through the available visas.
We, at FlightsPro, believe that apart from being the best travel agents in London & pioneer in booking your cheap flights, we also need to give you proper guidance on visas and how it actually works.
So, procuring a visa for India is a process that keeps updating. While in 2019, the e-visa for India was only available for 60 days; in April of 2019 it was extended to a year.
Therefore we decided to simply tell you all about types of e-Visas for India, how to get it and what all to keep in mind. For we don’t want you to be scammed by any of the online visa agencies or you be charged double and triple the amount. With proper detailed knowledge, you should be able to sail through the visa process swiftly.
Tumblr media
 Type of e-Visas in India
Please note that if you anyhow fail to procure e-Visa, a physical visa can be obtained at the Indian Embassy.
 e-Tourist Visa (30 days, 1 year, 5 years)
e-Business Visa (1 year)
e-Conference Visa (30 days)
e-Medical Visa (60 days)
e-Medical Attendant Visa (60 days)
However, we think here, you would only need guidance for a tourist visa. If you wish to know about e-business visas, please connect with our travel professionals directly. We are one the best business travel agents in London, UK
Coming back to the e-Tourist visas, here are the three types of tourist visas that you can attain online:
One Month e-Tourist Visa, which is valid up to 30 days and includes double entry
One Year e-Tourist Visa, which is valid up to 365 days and includes multiple entries
Five Year e-Tourst Visa, which is valid up to 5 years and includes multiple entries.
It is also important to note that if you have the 1 and 5 years visas, it doesn’t mean that you can stay in India for the whole time. Since it involves multiple entries, you must exit the country after 90 days. For people travelling from the UK you can stay for 180 days.
 Processing time
Usually, a visa for India takes about 3-5 business days. You can add a few more days if you are waiting for your visa to be sent by post to you. However, it is much faster if you are collecting it straight from the centre.
Where can I apply for the Visa from the UK?
The e-Visa can be applied on the website of the Immigration Department or the agency. If you are applying for a physical visa, you will be applying straight at the Indian Embassy. But now, all visa applications are handled by VFS Global. VFS Services is a trusted partner to “The Government of India” in UK and manages the administrative function of the Visa
Why to prefer applying for e-Visa?
Well, e-Visa should be preferred buying online because one - it takes longer to apply for a visa sticker at the embassy and it ends up being more expensive. You will have to wait to be called for your appointment and hence can take longer. The e-Visa is rather procured digitally and later is sent through email.
 Permitted Airports
If you have applied for e-Visas, you are permitted to enter only a limited number of airports including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Port Blair, Pune, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi & Visakhapatnam.
While, Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai, and Chennai are the seaports that are accessible with such e-Visas.
 Applying Visa through an Agency
Visa application using a trusted visa agency is also preferred by many because there are times when travellers actually fail to use the immigration service’s own website. The little details that you require to submit on the form is often ambiguous and no matter how small the mistake is, will result in a failed application. Sometimes, you often face issues uploading the documents in the correct format. Therefore, travellers sometimes do prefer going through an agency rather than a DIY.
FlightsPro, can guide you though some of the trusted visa agencies or guide you through the process of doing it yourself online.
Just that it is extremely important that you choose the visa agency very carefully. Do read up their customer ratings and first-hand reviews to know more about their authenticity because there have been cases of scamming when it comes to visa agencies.
Can I get an e-Visa on arrival in India?
No. Unless you are from Japan, South Korea or the UAE, you cannot get a Visa on Arrival.
Is my e-Visa applicable for all parts of India?
No. Your visa might not be for some of the restricted and protected areas in Northeast India, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir and parts of Himachal.
Can I apply for my Visa last minute?
No. It is not advisable at all because even an emergency visa takes a minimum of 2 days. And, believe us, we have had cases where people had to change or cancel their flights just because they chose to apply for the visa last minute.
Where can I check for a visa application?
You can email [email protected] if you have applied it online yourself.
Can I just book a one-way ticket to India?
No. Now, this is the important part of the Indian visa application process that you have to either book a return flights or onward journey.
 Conclusion
Please note that FlightsPro would always recommend to do it yourself online if you have plenty of time because visa fees are always returned in full if you fail to pass through. And, you can always apply again. However, if you are short on time or have planned your trip last minute, always go through a trusted visa agency that can help you streamline the Indian Visa Application process and do it for you at affordable prices.
FlightsPro travel professionals can help you choose the top visa agencies in the UK that can help you with your Indian Visa application.
  FAQs
From when does my e-visa time period start?
Your e-Visa will begin from the date you arrive in India and will be valid from the date of the issue.
When is the latest that I can apply for my e-Visa?
You need a minimum of 4-5 days for the application of your e-Visa.
How many visas can I apply for in a year?
You can only apply for 2 visas to India from the UK in a year.
How can I apply for e-Visas online myself?
Well, if you are going to do it yourself, go on the website operated by Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Government website. The process is a lot more straightforward and allows you to do everything yourself.

Meet Aditi, a Computer Engineer by qualification and a Writer , Conceptualiser and a Senior Manager at Radio Mirchi, by profession. However, that hardly does any justice to the plethora of things Aditi has explored and excelled at! After graduating in Computer Science from VIIT, Pune, Aditi worked at Cybage Software for almost a year. It was there that she fully realised that her true calling was in the creative field and thus began her journey in the field of advertising and mass media.
Tumblr media
Engineering, Work and More :
Coming from a modest but progressive background, Aditi recalls having a strong support system at home in the form of her parents and her twin sister, Anuja. With a family full of engineers, she decided to take up engineering as well. Both her parents being engineers only contributed constructively to this decision of hers. Aditi took the responsibility of her freedom very seriously. She was a very sincere student throughout the four years of graduation but often saw it as somewhat mechanical. Breezing through her engineering with distinction, Aditi was always drawn to music and drama clubs and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of those. With an impressive score in her final year and a great project to her name, she was placed at Cybage Software.
Tumblr media
Nine months into the job, she found it manageable yet unsatisfying in ways. Working as a Software Engineer didn’t make her happy at the end of the day. It was exhausting, tiring and still a chore! She felt little like herself. While everyone got along just fine, an ambivert Aditi felt like a sore thumb, desperate to explore her creative freedom. Through a digital project for an ad agency, her eyes opened to the extensive world of advertising. Now, there was no looking back! She researched about colleges offering relevant degrees and came up with a list of the ‘Top 5’ institutions. Just one month shy of completing one year at Cybage Software, she decided to put her papers down. Both her parents offered their unwavering support to Aditi to achieve her dream. But there is no denial that it was emotionally taxing on the family to face the society calling out at various occasions at such a change of vocation .
Another Chapter of her Life :
Preparing right from the scratch for the examinations, Aditi had confidently claimed to crack all the entrances. She had a tight schedule spanning over three months. Despite the tough competition, here she was, at St. Xavier’s Institute of Communication, Bombay! Studying at this prestigious institute was one thing but living alone in the city of dreams was another ball game, altogether. Aditi was looking forward to living life on her own terms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After completing her PGDM in Advertising and Marketing, she secured a job at FCB-Ulka, one among the Top 3 advertising agencies in India. After garnering experience in a big agency, Aditi decided to explore life at mid-sized agencies. Her new job at two mid-sized agencies gave her the opportunity to explore her potential to the fullest. She was working as a copywriter and also facing clients. Behind the scenes, she was doing so many things beyond her role! Her next step in life brought her to Famous Innovations. After a year there, although not aggressively, she was looking out to different options – a change. That is when Radio Mirchi, Pune reached out to her!
A Welcome Change!
Aditi had taken yet another jump and started a new journey. Although she had explored the vast advertising field, radio was only a part of it. Nevertheless, she made a few hectic but fruitful trips to Pune and back to interview with Radio Mirchi and she got through! Although she loved her independent life in Mumbai for 4 years, she decided to give this change, a chance.
She joined Radio Mirchi, Pune in June of 2017 as a Copywriter and Conceptualiser. Aditi describes her typical day at work as long but very flexible. Her work hours are very much decided by the tasks that are dependent on her. Being an experienced and better informed person, Aditi is always willing to help people who are wanting to take a leap in their advertising career. She says that the workplace is progressive, comfortable and quite ‘chilled out’. The culture, she says, is ‘non-robotic’, welcoming towards originality and inclusive. It has truly enabled her creative freedom. She describes her experience at Radio Mirchi as ‘life-changing’. Aditi says she loves her current job, especially the fact that she gets to be entirely herself. She calls Radio Mirchi as one big family where she feels a sense of belonging. “Mirchi is home,” she says.
Tumblr media
Some Interesting Facts about Aditi :
Aditi has been a student of Hindustani Classical music since childhood. She rediscovered her passion for music after she befriended a few people from the music industry. Sharing their passion for music, they instantly clicked and thus began another journey for Aditi; this time, a musical one. In October of 2019, she got to exhibit her skills as a songwriter and singer through her song “Baarish”, which is currently available on all major music streaming platforms. With further collaborations with big-time artists in the music industry, she recorded her second song, “Pao Kilo Adrak”, a Hindi Jazz song. Aspirational of making a music video for the song, she hosted a fundraiser for this project. Aditi passionately mentions that, although working with big artists had its financial challenges, she didn’t want them to be paid anything less only because they were friends with her. The fundraiser was thus an effort of showing love and respect for the artists and their art as well. She successfully raised a large amount of money to make this song her commercial move into YouTube and further into the music industry. Her YouTube channel with Monesh, her music partner, is called “Two of Us”. During the lockdown of 2020, she has also written two more songs which will be released soon.
Tumblr media
Apart from her devotion to music, she has also carved her niche as an author. She has written and published her book called “Moving Mumbai” which she wrote and published in 2015, while living in Mumbai. It is a collection of short stories and is available on many online shopping platforms.
Tumblr media
Words of Wisdom :
Aditi recalls having a complete personality change from engineering to her current job at Radio Mirchi. A metamorphosis of sorts. She says that the joy that comes from finding your passion and pursuing it gives an ultimate glow-up to your personality. She further says that taking the plunge, expecting failures and still risking changed her approach to life, positively. She warns that one must be ready to face rejections. This made her more flexible to incoming opportunities. She shares a candid thought, “Don’t make rigid plans, go with the flow.” She recommends ‘learning and unlearning rules’. One has to be ready to take flak, both socially and professionally. This, she says, is a learning curve. In a field like advertising and mass media, Aditi motivates the younger generation to be bold. “Face your fears,” she says, “You cannot be a damsel in distress.” Despite facing a bout of depression, Aditi only emerged stronger through it. She let herself feel the lows, accept them and take the necessary help. She says, it is not wrong to ask for help when needed, but it is important to rise above your problems. Her mantra throughout had been to not show the fear of failure on her face. No matter what happens, she decided to stand strong through it.
Aditi is a strong woman and a role model for the younger generation. Her knowledge, strength and confidence polishes her charisma. She is an inspiration to all those who wish to change their paths after completing their graduation in engineering and even to those who don’t. One can draw insight and vision from her experiences and words of motivation.

My Innings as Commander 27 Mtn Arty Brigade ( Part 2 )
In the first week of May, Ashvini & Nandini reached Bagrakote after undertaking a long journey across the country. It certainly boosted their confidence, since they travelled all by themselves for the first time. The first impressions of “Gun House” further boosted their energy levels, as we welcomed them in our new Home. In the very first week, they were surprised with the change of timings of sunrise & sunset and adjusted quickly to the new routine. The serene environment of Bagrakote provided ample opportunities for ANA to pursue their hobbies and play sports, within the premises of Brigade HQ. I had already prepared a plan for our visits to Nathu La & Darjeeling. Consequent to my announcement of this plan, everyone was excited for our first adventurous trip in the mountains in Sikkim. The preparations were complete, after we packed up the woolen clothing, which would be essential in Nathu La sector.
As scheduled, we left early morning for Gangtok, which was 100 km from Bagrakote. Our travel on the mountainous road along the Teesta river was really fascinating. Enroute, we witnessed White Water Rafting being conducted as a training event on the Teesta River. We reached Gangtok after a journey of 5 hours and felt the change of weather at 6000 ft, realising that distance is measured in terms of time in the mountains. It was essential to halt at Gangtok for a day to enable brief acclimatisation. Our departure from Gangtok was again early in the morning. Early start was necessary because the travel time to Nathu La was three hours which included a brief halt at Mile 14 Transit Camp enroute. Thereafter, the journey was more enchanting as we ascended to 12,000 ft. and reached Chhangu Lake, which is situated at the entry point of the track leading to Nathu La pass.
Tumblr media
At this scenic spot, we had another brief respite walking around Chhangu Lake and felt refreshed after consuming hot “Jam Pani”. We were already experiencing the adverse effects of high altitude but the view of snow capped mountains energised us to begin our climb slowly upto the Pass located at 14,000 ft. At the summit, we observed the Chinese soldiers deployed at their posts, which were just 100 metres away from our posts. Our short stay for one hour at this unique location on the LAC will always remain an unforgettable experience. We wished to stay on longer at this dominating location on the “Old Silk Route” but had to walk down and  proceed for the next mandatory visit  --- Harbhajan Baba Mandir!!
Tumblr media
As per superstition, it is believed that all visitors to Nathu La must pay obeisance at the Harbhajan Baba shrine, located about 15 km from Chhangu Lake. The legend goes back to the India-China conflicts in this Sector in Oct 1968, during which Sepoy Harbhajan Singh of 23 Punjab Battalion went missing until his body was recovered from a glacier. Later, he appeared in a dream of his CO & several soldiers and expressed his desire for construction of a ‘Samadhi’ at this spot. Ever since then, Baba’s spirit continues to protect all the Units deployed in Nathu La Sector and he has been often seen patrolling along the LAC! It was a divine experience to pay respects and have ‘Langar’ at this historic location. The most unusual ritual followed religiously is when Baba proceeds on Annual Leave to Kapurthala, in Sep every year. He is escorted by two Sewadars during the train journey and his Berth is reserved but kept vacant during the journey. Interestingly, he has been promoted over the years and is presently an Honorary Captain! He is fondly revered as the Hero of Nathu La. Consequent to these memorable visits, we travelled back to Gangtok for a night-halt.
Tumblr media
We left next morning for Darjeeling --- the Queen of Hill Stations in West Bengal. Soon, after reaching we went for a joyride in the famous Darjeeling Toy Train. Our journey by the toy train was indeed fascinating as the train route crisscrossed the main road connecting Darjeeling to Siliguri. It was a breathtaking experience while the train negotiated steep gradients offering a splendid view of the landscape. The rest of the day was spent doing  sightseeing and shopping. Next day, we reached the view point at Tiger Hill at 4 AM. There was intense excitement when we  witnessed the glorious spectacle of sunrise at Kanchenjunga and the majestic Himalayan Ranges. Finally, with these beautiful memories of last one week, we set course for our return journey and reached Bagrakote by mid-day. It was such a nostalgic feeling to be back  in the “Gun House”, after our fabulous vacation in the lap of nature.
Tumblr media
I resumed my official routine commencing with all the Annual Adm Inspections. Initially, I completed the inspections of the Regiments located at Sevoke Road and Oodlabari. It was my privilege to inspect the Units and assess the standard of Unit administration and evaluate all aspects of equipment management & state of Accounts. The Staff Officers of my Brigade HQ were delegated the responsibility of testing the standards of  BPET and small arms firing, prior to my inspection. Simultaneously, Sanjivani dedicated her efforts towards creation of additional facilities at Army School & improvement of the standard of family quarters at Bagrakote. Meanwhile, I was planning for our visit to Bhutan but kept it a secret till necessary permission was obtained from Army HQ. As soon as the approval was received, I applied for casual leave and then announced our proposed trip to Bhutan, which was a surprise for all my family members. The next three days were spent preparing for the trip & coordination of all arrangements for our forthcoming visit.
In the third week of June, we left Bagrakote and reached Binnaguri for a a night halt in the same Officers Mess where I had stayed during my previous tenure in 1974-75. As usual, we left early next morning and reached Phuntsholing which was the majestic gateway to Bhutan. The journey thereafter upto IMTRAT (Indian Military Training Team) located at Haa was absolutely amazing through the pristine mountainous terrain. We reached Haa after a journey of five hours and were welcomed in the grand Officers Mess of IMTRAT.
Tumblr media
Next day, we visited the Haa valley which is just adjacent to the disputed Doklam Plateau. Later in the evening, we strolled in the Haa town and got a glimpse of the Bhutanese lifestyle. After stay of two days in IMTRAT, we moved to Thimpu which is located at 8000 ft. We spent two days in Thimpu and visited both the important monuments frequented by tourists -- Tashichho Dzong & Chhorten.
Tumblr media
We were impressed with the rituals followed in the monastery which were a symbol of Bhutanese culture. In the evenings, we visited the main market and bought Bhutanese traditional dresses & tasted their special cuisine, served in their customary style. Thus, after spending a week in the Land of Peace & Tranquility, we set off next morning on our return journey & reached Bagrakote after a long journey of 10 hours, with numerous memories of a fabulous vacation!!
Tumblr media
In the first week of Jul, Ashvini & Nandini left Bagrakote as they had to resume their academic sessions in Pune. We accompanied them till Kolkata and did some local sight-seeing before their final departure for Pune. Next day onwards, I carried out the Annual Adm Inspections of my Regiments located at Barrackpore & Kanchrapara. Simultaneously, Sanjivani visited the family quarters of both the Regiments and interacted with the families in the Family Welfare Centre. We then returned to Bagrakote and prepared plans for various welfare activities and organising the forthcoming Diwali festival.  As per the Sports calendar, inter unit sports competitions were conducted with lot of enthusiasm in the next two months.
In the beginning of Aug, I was fortunate to be selected for attending the NBCW (Nuclear Biological & Chemical Warfare) Course at CME, Pune. It was a short Course of one month duration for selected officers from all the three Services. I reached Pune in mid-Aug and announced my arrival to Ashvini & Nandini, who were really thrilled since they could stay with me in the spacious two room accommodation allotted to me in CME & enjoy variety of meals in the Officers Mess. The learnings during the Course enhanced my knowledge about the latest developments in this interesting dimension of warfare. On completion of this Course, I returned to Bagrakote just prior to another memorable event which had been planned by Sanjivani. On 22 Sep, we hosted a special party at the “Gun House” for approximately 50 officers & families of the Brigade HQ and the Regiments located nearby at Sevoke Road and Oodlabari. The occasion was the celebration of ‘Milestone 50 in my Journey of Life. It gave me a special certification as the grand ‘Old Man’!!
In early Oct, all the Regiments set up camps in training areas near Bagrakote to facilitate training prior to the Practice Camps, for a duration of one month. It was essential to carry out familiarisation with Teesta Ranges by practicing deployment & live firing. Each Field Firing Range has certain restrictions and degree of difficulty for deployment of Guns & engagement of targets. I looked forward to yet another learning experience in the tenth Range in my career while I shared my practical experiences with the OP officers & JCOs, to improve the standard of shooting. All the Regiments & our Brigade HQ practiced various drills and procedures to refine the standards of technical proficiency. Simultaneously, Technical competitions were conducted by the Staff Officers of my Brigade HQ. In the first week of Nov, I assessed each Regiment during it’s Practice Camp and was extremely satisfied with their excellent standard. The culminating event was the Technical Day, during which a total of 90 Guns & Mortars of different caliber, gave a demonstration of a Fire Plan for two hours. The Technical Day was witnessed by the GOC, all Infantry Brigade Commanders & COs of Infantry Battalions. All the dignitaries appreciated the speed of deployment, accurate engagement of targets & the destructive effect of fire power of the Gunners. It was a proud moment for me when I conveyed my special appreciation on the radio network ---  “Good Shooting, Shabaash.”
All the Regiments returned to their respective locations, well in time for Diwali festival. At Bagrakote, we organised a Diwali Mela and fireworks display, with enthusiastic involvement by all ranks & families. We conducted several competitions, separately for the officers, families and children, as per the custom of celebrating all festivals together. It was a coincidence that Diwali and Children’s Day were on the same date that year. Hence, it proved to be a double celebration for the children.

Soon thereafter, we were delighted to welcome our relatives who had come from Aurangabad for a visit to Sikkim. They enjoyed their stay in our tranquil location for a few days & then proceeded along with Aditya to Nathu La & Darjeeling. They were lucky to witness snowfall in Sikkim and caught a glimpse of the difficult conditions faced by our soldiers deployed at the LAC (Line of Actual Control). They returned to Aurangabad after their once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Tumblr media
In the second week of Dec, I had gone to Panagarh to carry out the Adm Inspection of my Regiment, which was pending due to the revised schedule of Practice Camps. On 13 Dec 2001, during the conduct of the Adm Inspection, we got the shocking news about the surprise attack on our Parliament Complex by a group of terrorists. Consequent to this sudden development, an immediate response at the highest level was anticipated. Hence, I curtailed my inspection schedule and left for Bagrakote on the same night. Next morning itself, we received orders to be on high alert and be ready for mobilisation. All the Brigade Commanders had to rush to Div HQ for an urgent conference, where the GOC briefed us about the latest situation and likely future contingencies. These orders were disseminated to all the Units for completing all preparations on a war footing.
After just three days, we received the final codeword for move to J&K, as a part of Operation PARAKRAM. This was the green signal for the massive mobilisation of the Striking Lion Division. It involved move of all Units, by rail from widely dispersed entraining stations to different detraining stations between Pathankot & Jammu Tawi. In view of the urgency, the Indian Railways moved all the trains on red hot priority. The move after detraining was carried out by road upto the designated staging areas. Meanwhile, I moved ahead by air, as a part of the core Recce Group. It was a tremendous achievement when we completed our deployment in the staging areas by end of Dec, in a state of high morale & motivation.
We were given an extensive briefing about the latest situation and all the Units were directed to be ready at short notice, for any contingency. Specific sectors were allotted for recce missions, which had to be carried out on a daily basis. Plans had to be evolved and modified consequent to every ground recce & information updates from latest air photos. These plans were brainstormed during the planning & coordination conference every morning. Incidentally, we had to comply with the security instructions of not compiling any written records of any plans or marked maps, in order to maintain secrecy. It was yet another challenging experience, facing such a dynamic situation in the LOC (Line of Control) scenario.
In the first week of Feb 2002, while I was busy in my recce missions, I got a surprise when I received my posting order to Army HQ. I had to report for my next assignment within a month and take charge as Deputy Director General (Equipment Management) in MGO Branch. It was a welcome news but I genuinely felt that my posting order was a bit too early since I had just completed one & a half year of my Command. Hence, I applied for cancellation/deferment of my posting. However, my request was not accepted in the organisational interest. Any CO or Commander feels very nostalgic at the time of relinquishing his Command. I too had similar feelings which were even more intense because we had just completed our deployment for Op PARAKRAM in J&K.
Then began a series of farewell programs organised by each Regiment in it’s traditional manner. I made a trip to  the Vaishno Devi shrine and sought the blessings of the Goddess, prior to my departure after my fourth tenure in J&K. Next day, I was dined out from the Div HQ in the customary manner. The final two days were exclusively for the farewell functions in my Brigade HQ. The Bara Khana was organised centrally by all the Regiments which was really an emotional experience. Next day, was my dining out from the Brigade Officers Mess set up under field conditions. In my farewell speech, I expressed my gratitude to my entire Team of excellent COs -- Col Manjit Singh, Col PR Shankar, Col Nambiar and Col Sarkar who were the pillars of the Arty Brigade. In addition, I praised the contribution of Col Zope ( my Deputy Commander) and all the Staff Officers of Brigade HQ -- Maj Paviter Singh, Maj Maan Singh, Maj Jagdish, Capt AP Singh and Capt BS Multani who always exceeded my expectations. Finally, I was chaired out to the traditional chorus of “He is a jolly good fellow.”
Tumblr media
Next morning, I bid the final farewell to my excellent Formation as I was escorted upto the Main Gate, with lot of affection and respect in a formal ceremony. It was the end of my challenging innings, played well at different venues before proceeding to Army HQ!!

Today Shirdi is fittingly open by all structures
Darshan Tours offers some best Shirdi tours from Chennai, yet before Touring let us share a few data of Shri Sai Baba for all Sai dears.
Shirdi Ke Sai Baba as we as a whole in all in everything considered know him, was a fakir when he from the most punctual beginning stage landed in Shirdi. It was Mahalsapati who gave him the name Sai which means demanding Mendicant or God. He came to Shirdi as a vivacious chap and nobody thinks about his experience or where he began. He got together in Shirdi like God dropping on that little town to support them and remained there till the end.
For whatever time range that he can study that he stayed a fakir and put confidence in eating what he got in bhiksha and wore a white Gafni and the two mantras he over and over said was "AllahMalik" and "Sabka Malik Ek". He prophage the benchmarks of Shraddha which is explanation and Saburi which is protection from a gigantic piece of the individuals and managed the majority of their issues. He lived outside the town in an old mosque which was in a withdrawn condition and called it Dwarkamai. Actually, even today when individuals Shirdi Tours they all around undertaking to Tour Dwarkamai which is overseen on the upside of the zone of the Samadhi Mandir. Baba changed the mosque into Dwarkamai and demonstrated that God is one. The central floor of Dwarkamai has outlines of titanic stones that Baba and Baba used to sit on. There are two rooms at this level. One contains the chariot and the second contains Palkhi. Just before the room where the chariot was kept, there was a little haven. The saffron standard flies over it. On the second floor of Dwarkamai, there is a square stool made of stone, which Baba uses to wash.
The focal centrality of this spot is the oil painting of Shri Sai Baba sitting in a cut wooden spot of worship. There are correspondingly grindstones and wooden vessels called Kolamba, which used to bring Bhiksha from the town. Dwarkamai is the spot Sai sits each day, and individuals from any place all through the world come to see him with his issues. "The substances display that the Ellora-Ajanta street is being changed over into a two-way street. In unequivocal spots, the street is bomb and pit. So there's nothing more required than three hours to reach Ajanta from Ellora. In the event that you plan amazingly more, you can experience Shirdi packs and after that visit Ajanta, Ellora, Krisneswar Temple, and Devagiri Fort. "Let Shirdi is the first in your blueprint. By then go to spots like Ajanta and Ellora … Shirdi

Along these lines, you don't need to hold tight in line for long. Senior inhabitants can go to the counter at whatever point and show the Aadhaar Identity Card and get the token.
Since there are boundless fans on Thursdays, it is flawless to go on different days. When you go to the Samadhi, you need to place flexible and camera in the room.
Ajanta
Coming up next is around 200 km from Shirdi. We should go to Ajanta out there. The voyage would take around six hours. While there are world perceived Ellora gives being made, it is a cautious strategy to visit Ajanta first and worth the sinkhole and diagrams and visit Ellora the following day. Plan a trip in like manner as it is an occasion for Ajanta on Monday and Ellora on Tuesday.
Near the beginning of the day at Ajanta town, there is no influencing inspiration to believe a to be as there are a great deal of spots to wash. Relatives can take a room in the event that they need to keep their positive conditions.

It is a fortune of craftsmanship that has been campaigned in the help for more than 1,500 years, and the massiveness of seeing Ajanta that set the world up for life for its unmistakable quality is pushing. In the event that you go during the upsetting season, it would be extra vivifying to see the standard void like the Vakora River tumbles from above.

Devagiri Fort
On the off chance that you ought to have two days in Ellora, the ensuing day is about 15km from Ellora. You can correspondingly watch the Devagiri Fort, which is, for the most part, called Daulatabad Fort. It is one of the most essential posts in Indian history. The outside edge of the post, which is made of stone, is about 4.5 km. It is a joy to climb the fortress through the channels and climb the slight stairs to see the brilliance of Devgiri.
Going by open vehicle transports is a bewildering thought in the event that you travel alone or a couple. Private taxi or vehicles can be leased as 'km-so' for family or get-together. On the off chance that you for the most part plot three days, you can skip Devaki and part of the methodology the Krishneswarar Temple.

How to plan a perfect Road trip?
Knowing how to drive a car will let you enjoy one of the most memorable holiday experiences, the road journey. The road journey is a popular word that describes a long trek made into a vehicle for delight. However, road journeys need a little bit of planning. Here are some suggestions in order to help make your first road trip a success.
Decide the Destination: The first thing to be done is select an appropriate destination. It is a great idea to select a destination that is not too far away for your first road trip. A street journey can take only one day. As an instance, select a city that is just a couple of hours away for your first street journey. You'll experience a pleasant drive to your destination, spend a while in a new area, and drive back home all in one day.
Choose a Route: It is better to make plans before which route are you going to follow. Many individuals who take road journeys like to take the scenic path to their selected vacation spot. You may use a map or the Internet to plan a route. A few drivers opt to take a back road instead of interstate highways when they go on road trips. Even though it could take longer to reach your destination on those roads, the views will be a lot more exciting.
Choose appropriate Vehicle: Take into account your vehicle. Some vehicles are not genuinely made for long journeys. Cars which are particularly suitable for street journeys are convertibles, sports cars, vehicles that get extremely good gas mileage, and small crossover SUVs. SUVs and minivans also are appropriate road trip cars in case you are touring with many people or your family members. Cars that might not be good alternatives for road trips are large trucks, big SUVs, and vans. Make certain that you will have lots of room for your passengers because you may be spending many hours in the car. Also, try to pick a vehicle that receives excellent gas mileage to lessen the cost of your journey.
Tune up your Car: In case you have made plans on riding your vehicle over a long distance for several days, it is an excellent idea to let a mechanic take a look for the issues before you depart. Get your oil changed, fill up your windshield wiper fluid, and make certain all lights are in working order. These steps will lessen the chance of becoming stranded or experiencing mechanical problems in the course of your road trip.
Plan for Stops: It is reasonable to estimate that you will need to take a break from traveling every or three hours. If there may be an exciting city, park, shop, or restaurant that you would really like to look on your road journey, schedule stops accordingly. It is all a part of the street journey experience.
Have arrangements for entertainment: Of course it is essential for the driver to concentrate on the road while driving. But the passengers would possibly need some enjoyment along the way. Transportable DVD players with headphones, MP3 players, books, crossword puzzles, magazines, and travel journals are a few superb ideas for passing the time on a street journey.
Eat local and stay local: Try to eat and stay locally on road trips, even when you have no idea what it is. In spite of everything, it might be the best chance that you have got. The same goes for lodging: it is probably tempting to stay at the bright new hotels, however, why not live at the particular B&B/kitsch motel/mom and pop place down the street?
Road trippers: Consider checking out the superb website Road trippers. It’s a good source of information, from quirky roadside attractions to lodging. Covering the complete globe, it consists of hundreds of thousands of the world’s most thrilling locations and points of interest.
Camp even in a Car: Relying on your budget – and on your vehicle – you may consider camping in the car itself rather than hotels or motels. It is an affordable, easy and a superb way to meet people. If you have got a huge car or a spacious van, you may even sleep in your own vehicle at a few campsites, RV campsites, and in some petrol stations.
Download important applications: Make sure you already have downloaded all of the important applications that you may need while you are on a road trip. Refer to some useful websites that give you the detailed list of apps required when you are on a travel.
Take an appropriate Sim Card with you: In case your cell phone is unlocked, pick up a local SIM card to make certain you maintain your expenses down, and to make certain people can contact you without problems. There is always Skype and WhatsApp Messenger, however, those do need a Wi-Fi or a mobile data connection to work.
Ensure your Safety: Never mind moving down through those small roads, get out of your comfort area and discover, however, be practical. Pay attention to the recommendations, constantly let someone know where you are and wherein you are going – and do not be a hero. On a more realistic approach prefer keeping a few gallons of water in your vehicle at all times can actually be a lifesaver. If you have the room, a gallon of fuel is also a superb idea too.
It is crucial to keep in mind that the drive is the most important part of a road trip. Do not be in a hurry it is important to enjoy every moment of such journeys. If there is something exciting you would really like to stop and see, do so. It is all a part of the experience. The next time when you plan a holiday for you and your family members or a short getaway for your buddies, take into account driving rather than flying. You would possibly find that hitting the open road is your preferred way of transportation.

Bhaja Caves
Tumblr media
Interesting Facts about Bhaja Caves
A Short Trip to the Bhaja Caves
Located at Pune, near Lonavala (Maharashtra), Bhaja Caves, also known as Bhaje Caves dates back to 2nd century BC. These rock-cut caves stand straight at a height of 400 feet above the village of Bhaja after which it is named. The significant features of this Bhaja Caves, the stupas are really eye-catching and reveals a lot about Indian history during its time. Bhaja Caves is a must go for the people planning a trip to Maharashtra.
The architecture of Bhaja Caves
The most prominent sculpture of this cave is the Chaitya or Chaityagrha which reveals about wonder wooden architectures during those days. The Chaitya is a monument of wooden architecture with a vaulted horseshoe arched entrance as declared by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is one of the earliest amongst its types. The sculpts inside the cave reveal the use of tabla about 2000 years ago in Indian culture. Chaitya has Buddha reliefs along with unique reliefs from Indian mythology. A wooden beam inside the cave is inscribed with the names of donors of those times along with two more dates from 2nd century B.C. The cave at the end has a picturesque waterfall from which water during monsoon fills a small pool at the bottom of it.
The Eye Catchers
A group of 14 stupas of the Bhaja Caves, five inside and nine outside an irregular excavation is the breathtaking landscape of this place. These stupas are the creations of the monks, who lived in the caves and died at Bhaja and display an inscription with the names of three monks, Ampinika, Dhammagiri, and Sanghdina. The stupas mainly display the names of the monks and their respective titles. The stupas have been carefully and elaborately carved such that two of them have a relic box on their upper side. Names of monks have been titled with Theras.
The "SURANG"
As mentioned earlier, the Bhaja Caves is comprised of a number of caves. One of them is an irregular vihara, about 14 feet square, having two rooms on each side and three on the rear part. The chaitya is decorated with ornaments all over the doors. Rail pattern ornament, broken animal figures, the verandah is on the frontal side looks similar to the Pandavleni Caves. The chaitya at Bhaja Caves is one of the earliest surviving chaitya hall, constructed in the second century BC. It has an 'apsidal hall with stupa'. The columns slope inwards in the imitation of wooden columns that are most probably necessary to keep a roof up. The ceiling was faced with a wooden facade which has completely perished now. Rail pattern is noticeable, a few cells at the back and a bolt door system are found at the back. This cave facing north is about 6 feet 8 inches wide and 25.5 feet deep, with 7 cells. Stone benches, square windows, stone beds are the key features of these cells. It can be reached by stairs to the south of this cave. It is a small vihara 12.5 wide and 10 feet deep having a couple of semi-circular niches and a bench by its side. There is another cave which looks like a small vihara. It is 18.5 feet long and 12.5 deep, with 5 cells, one of the cells has a bench in it. It has two inscriptions in it one of which is damaged. Cell door inscription portrays “the gift of the cell from Nagasawa, a Naya of Bhagwati”. There is an inscription over the two wells in a recess describing “a religious gift of cistern by Vinhudata, son of Koski, a great warrior.” The final cave or the last cave is a monastery with a verandah. The door has guardian figures on both of its sides. All in all, Bhaja Caves is one of the oldest caves in India and one of the most important heritage monument portraying Indian Culture and art form dated back to 2000 BC. Read the full article

Man is a creature who walks in two worlds and traces upon the walls of his cave the wonders and the nightmare experiences of his spiritual pilgrimage. ~Morris West
One of my most favoritist personality traits of India is encapsulated in the rich heritage preserved in ancient artifices, hallowed monuments, and the venerable temples with roots stretching into a history built on the cradle of civilization in the Indus valley. The first leg of our trip was to the Ancient caves at Ellora and Ajanta in Maharashtra.
To and Fro
Our jumping off point was the city of Pune, a city I have been associated with since 2006, a place I hung my hat for a memorable 18 months. There are friends living there, friends so close to my heart, I count them as mi familia, my family.  I would have preferred to fly to  Aurangabad to see the caves, however, there were no direct flights from Pune making air time equivalent to road time. So, we decided to rent a car with a driver. It was a fortuitous decision as our other internal flights in India were fraught with delays causing us to completely miss out on our planned visit to Body Gaya.
It’s 160 miles by car from Pune to Ellora. In US terms, we are looking at 2 to 2.5 hours. India traffic easily doubles the time for the same distance or longer depending on the time of day traffic conditions. Ajanta is a further 65 miles, clocking up a return trip close to 9 hours, 9 brutal, traffic-y hours of stop and go, horn blaring, kidney shaking travel.
Ellora Caves
We left on Monday at 5 am for Ellora Caves arriving around 10:30…just in time for the peak sun hours.
Ellora consists of 100 caves 34 which are open to the public. They are Buddhist, Jain, and Hindu in nature dating between 600 to 1000 AD. All the caves were amazing with the pièce de résistance being #16, the Kailasa Temple, a megalith excavated from a single, solid rock. When we arrived, there was a VVIP (very, very, important person, one step up from the common VIP) at Kailasa so it was temporarily closed. We decided to start with the furthermost caves, the Jain caves. A low fee, 20 rupees, shuttle service is provided for the round trip. It was accessible by foot but that would have been a rather long walk on what was already a warm day.

Cave 16: Kailasa Temple
What was once solid rock was carved out by hand revealing the Kailasa Temple. How did the ancients know this marvelous temple was hidden inside solid rock?
It is a cave the boggles the imagination. It is a work of art I would love to have wandered for a couple of lifetimes. I could have spent the entire day at this temple, this one temple were not 33 others demanding our presence. I would have like to have been able to sit silently and grown into the rock, feel the vibrations, the meditations of long deceased monks, if not for the noisy people colliding with the exhaled meditations sending them into disarray. But for my monkey brain, my thoughts would have danced with the ancient craftsmen (craftswomen?) in their quest to unite with the universal consciousness through exquisite design.
Internally, there were many large elephant carvings, sentinels guarding the main section of the temple. Quite a few still had trunks intact. With carvings, trunks, human arms, human necks are the first to be broken off. They are the thinnest point and the most vulnerable. Subcaves were carved into the rock surrounding the temple, facing the temple. The ancients included an overhang to protect from the intense sun and blowing monsoon rains.

The number for each cave was clearly marked on the well-maintained, ocassionally flower lined, walkway allowing us to reference them in the guidebook we purchased. Each was magnificent in its own right. None, however, exuded the aura of #16.

Telling stories with visuals is an ancient art. We’ve been drawing pictures on cave walls for centuries. It’s like what they say about the perfect picture book. The art and the text stand alone, but together, they create something even better. ~Deborah Wiles
Following an overnight in Aurangabad at a Vivanta Taj hotel, we headed out at 7am to arrive by 9 am opening. We knew there would be a long ride home and we wanted to get out around noon. Our driver dropped us off at the park entrance, the only parking lot. We made our way through the gauntlet of vendors and hopped on the first bus to the caves. We did not escape the gauntlet unscathed. A seller latched on to us, took us to the busses, and made sure we were on the first bus. In exchange, he extracted from us a promise to visit his store on the return trip. He was waiting at the bus stop upon our return. The shop visit was less than pleasant with him trying to extort high prices from us. As we left, one of his workers followed us all the way to the car carrying an item I found interesting finally dropping the price to reasonable. I was annoyed at the hard sell tactics to refused to purchase his products. Had he been reasonable at first visit, I definitely would have purchased the item.
Anyway, the 10-minute ride, again for around 40 rupees, a very inexpensive rate, took us over rough roads. The bus had poor suspension and we felt every bang and shudder in our bones.
Ajanta is a set of 29 rock cut, Buddhist caves that were inhabited by monks Aum-ing the world into a unified mind energy. I wonder if the ancients wore saffron robes like the modern monks? These caves are much older than Ellora dating as far back as the 2nd century BC through 650 AD. In addition to rock sculptures, there are significant frescoes (paintings on the rocks.) They are all accessible via a contiguous walkway.
Hint: Almost every cave required shoe removal prior to entry. Wear sandals or easy slip-on shoes to ease the transitions. I wore tie shoes…mistake #1.
Many of the carvings were similar to those in Ellora. Which is not surprising since there is Buddhist influence at both sites. There were more stupas in the Ajanta caves which makes sense since stupas are a common component in Buddhist symbology. I was reminded of the Karla caves nearer to Pune. One of the last caves in the set contained a magnificent reclining Buddha. Whether the Buddha was resting or deceased, I was not sure. The differences between the two are small and I am not attuned to the subtlety of the differences. I did encounter a deceased Buddha at Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka. It’s a place I highly recommend visiting. Go in Winter to avoid the high Sri Lankan humidity.
The primary attraction of Ajanta is the promise of frescoes. They were piecemeal, faded by hundreds of years of outside light, and smoke from thousands of fires. Unfortunately, the frescoes are very, very difficult to photograph with a DLSR camera. Flash is prohibited since repeated exposure degrades the paint. And, there are low awnings in front of the cave with the most spectacular frescoes preventing much outside light from entering. Surprisingly, the iPhone was much better at capturing pictures in low light than my DSLR. All the frescoes photos are taken with my iPhone.

  Conclusion
I am a pasty complected, white-haired Westerner. In photographic terms, I would be a negative image of the Indians visiting these sites. Because I am an anomaly, I was stopped countless times, my wife a few less than countless, by locals wanting pictures taken with me and them, her and them, us and them. You can see the request coming. People slyly point, whisper together, then inch their way over with the request balanced on their lips. I said yes all but once (for which I soon felt guilty) because I was getting tired of posing. I understand a little how a celebrity must feel when hounded by the paparazzi.
I wasn’t sure about the clothing requirements so I wore long pants. Mistake #2. At points, the heat overwhelmed me and I had to roll up my pants knicker style. Shorts would have been a much better and culturally acceptable choice.
If we had the opportunity to do this part of the trip all over again, we would choose to visit Ellora only. We found it to be more spectacular than Ajanta. The additional driving time required for Ajanta, we felt, was not the best use of our time.
Next Up: The Golden Temple of Amritsar
India 2017 Part 1 – Ancient Caves of Ellora and Ajanta Man is a creature who walks in two worlds and traces upon the walls of his cave the wonders and the nightmare experiences of his spiritual pilgrimage.
