Between Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and discord, I have a list of 123 books in no particular order that my friends and family loved this year. If it was a series then I listed the first book. Each star is an additional recommendation. I haven’t read all of these, they may or may not reflect my personal opinions, though my favorite books are on the list too. The most recommended books were How Far The Light Reaches by Sabrina Imbler, one or all of the Murderbot books by Martha Wells, and Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki, because if there’s one thing my friends have in common across platforms, it’s that you’re all nerds (affectionate). 🥰 The Secret Lives of Color (Kassia St. Clair, author & narrator) - {nonfiction} This was rec'd in one of my discord servers as 'If you are ever in the need for a pleasant-sounding British woman telling you Interesting Facts About Colors then may I recommend The Secret Lives of Color by Kassia St. Clair, which is exactly that for 8 hours' and it was precisely that and it was wonderful and soothing and so interesting.

🥰 MateHub: Legend (MateHub #1) (Marie Reynard) - erotic romance about a wolf shifter porn star who finds a Mate™ in his new human co-star. Tropetastic & hot af, exactly what I wanted from a book with this set up. But my fave thing was the absolutely hilarious porn star names: Richard Knotz, our main MC wolf shifter. Hunter Savage, Max Hardwood, Trick Wilde (coyote shifter, natch). I snorted with laughter every time one came up. [really love a book that just knows what it's trying to do and executes beautifully on that premise]

"Atmaran, Hindoo of Peshawar"

"Atmaran, Hindoo of Peshawar" is the title of a coloured lithograph made by E. Walker (d. 1882), based on the work of James Rattray (1818-1854), who was based in Afghanistan during the First Anglo-Afghan war (1838-1842). Atmaram was a Hindu from Peshawar in modern northern Pakistan, who had become the 'minister' of a local Muslim and Uzbek ruler in northern Afghanistan, Mohammed Murad Beg of Kunduz.

The “Dewan Begi, Atma Ram”, was already a very powerful position when the British veterinary and explorer, William Moorcroft, visited northern Afghanistan in 1824. Another British explorer, Alexander Burnes, stayed with him in 1832, while on his way to Bukhara. When Burnes and his entourage left Kunduz and said goodbye to Atmaram, he "sent a khillut, or dress of honour…" Burnes tells that all of the affairs of Murad Beg were managed by Atmaram. He was a Hindu of low origin, a shopkeeper from Peshawar. The artist Rattray tells about Atmaram that he was “a sly-looking old fellow, countenance beaming with cunning and intellectual fire", and that he "never betrayed his master's trust".

He is wearing a beautiful turban of dark red material wound around a kalpak (a pointed cap particular to the Uzbeks), a magnificently gold thread embroidered mantle of the choga style, possibly with appliqué; a gown and a shirt underneath. The gown may be made of ikat. He has shoes or leather boots with high pointed heels and a single line of large white stitches on the heel, adding a decorative element. Behind him hangs his Indian style sword and a decorated shield. There is also a belt with various pouches attached, with embroidered flaps.

Interesting are the red lines painted on the man’s face. By birth this man was Hindu, and he apparently retained the markings of his caste, although at the same time wearing a turban and a kamarband, among the Uzbek at that time normally reserved for Muslims. Atmaram is sitting on the roof of a house, looking down into the courtyard, made pleasant by a pond and tree. The house may be his own. If so, this was perhaps the place where Alexander Burnes and his following resided when they were en route to Bukhara.

i love your muse for so many reasons. first of all because you are non-apologetic about how you write him. which i find every mun should do. toning down villains for the sake of a minority of people who just can't stand the fact that villains greatly contribute to a story, is what i have gotten very tired of and i am glad more people finally start to just embrace writing muses of all kinds without feeling bad about it.

alexander is a monster of a guy in every sense of the word. i love his height compared to jafar - it make me laugh. your art of him is simply mindblowingly fantastic and i am in awe to say the least. i adore your interaction with hannah. the contrast of beast and child - this is the shit i live for. i wish i could write something similar with jafar but sadly he is too sociopathic to care about kids. so i get my share of it absorbing y'alls threads every time they pop up on my dash. i like how jafar and alexander interacted so far and i hope that despite their differences they can maybe become friends. maybe alex is gonna just know that jafar is this special snowflake he needn't really take too serious because at the end of the day we both know who's whose bitch if things got out of hand. ok. before i write a novel just know that you are amazing and your character too. i am glad we met and i hope we stay mutuals for a long time!

I mean sure, at the end of the day we all can agree that certain things need to be omitted like the really bad shit [if you know you know] but other than that villains shouldn’t be watered down because that defeats the purpose. But it’s also okay to explore other avenues within reason and depending on the muse.

I would love for Alexander and Jafar to be pals, they may get on each other’s nerves but at the end of the day they can find something they can agree on I feel. I also wouldn’t mind Jafar using that staff on him because that would be hilarious. Making him go completely feral or something for his own use. I don’t mind that kind of god-modding as long as I know of it and I get to have fun, I’d make a special exception for that because let’s face it that’s one Jafar’s special quirks and it would be interesting to see what would happen.

I was very intimidated by you at first, but I’m glad I hit the follow button anyway because I enjoy their banters and writing with you when I get the chance too. And likewise, you’re one of my favorite mutuals and it’s always a joy seeing you on my dash, esp when you post silly things like Merlin talking shit to Jafar. * MY BEST FRIEND IS A ROCKSTAR: (tw: death) muse a & muse b have been best friends since they were kids and grew up together. throughout their childhood, muse b had always told muse a about his plans to become a famous musician and as he grew older, became more and more determined to make those dreams come true. when they both hit their teen years, feelings eventually grew and the two were head over heels for each other but neither of them was ever able to admit it. they were both terrified that the feelings would be unrequited or that it would ruin their friendships so just imagine the angst of them seeing each other with other people and FGHDFG. anyway, when muse b finally turns twenty-one, he decides to move to hollywood to make his dreams come true, and muse a stays in their small hometown. they keep in contact with one another but as time went on, muse b becomes a huge rockstar with his band and their contact start to drift but they always had each other in their thoughts, wishing they were closer to one another. a few years pass and they still speak but it’s not like before. muse b was hugely successful and enjoyed the life he was now living but always felt like something was missing. that someone was missing… it’s not until he gets a distraught call from muse a telling him that her mother died does he rush on a private jet and comes home to her. after helping her arrange the funeral and being there for her through her grief, he suggests that she comes on tour with him and the band. wanting to run away from everything and everyone in her small town, she agrees. queue cute ass moments on the tour bus, traveling the world and falling in love like they did when they were young. add drama, angst ( because they’re both still dumb and won’t admit to their feels) stadium tours, TENSION!!!, groupies, etc, etc.

So, since coming back to RP I have been having an absolute blast. I’ve been coming out of my shell, my mental health has improved and it’s kept me off of twitter. But over time something has been bothering me and I just wanna get it off my chest.

Not aimed at anyone but just a handful of shit that I’ve been dealing with that bothers me and I hate that it does because it shouldn’t.

I kinda hate fight threads, if I’m entirely honest.

I hate fight threads that have no meaning to them, no clear goal in mind, and threads with muses so powerful you can’t land any hits and take ALL the hits yourself. If Alexander is actively pursuing someone’s muses with the intention to eat them, and that muse turns around to fight back and defend themselves then that’s all the better. Those fights are fun and I welcome that shit because there is a REASON for it. That character is fighting for their life.

People who want to fight Alexander simply just to show off how much more powerful their muses are annoy the shit out of me. I had to deal with that shit in the WiR RPC a decade ago and I will not deal with it now.

Alexander can get hurt, he can bleed, he can lose. But I will not have him do so so people can stroke their ego. And what strikes me as odd is that people seem to think I don’t have the power to just make Alexander OP as fuck if I wanted too. Sure it would be bad storytelling but like…I could if I wanted.

Everyone is allowed to RP the character they want but if you wanna be this untouchable character you better find someone who will indulge you with that boring shit because most won’t.

And before anyone comes at me with Alexander’s feral form. That shit is for my drabbles only with the exception of that one time Cromwell and James had to bring him down. Unless people want to interact with feral Alex I will never offer him up for RPs.

Believe it or not, Alexander was OP as fuck back in the day and I nerfed the shit out of him. He’s still strong and will wreck your shit, but he’s def not how he was almost a decade ago.

Then there’s just a feeling of being bullied ic into doing things with Alexander I don’t want to do or deal with. People lore-breaking or doing shit in his universe or implying what they are going to do cuz they can….and I’m just gonna start ignoring and deleting shit. I’m getting tired.

I want to be accommodating and approachable and not have so many walls up but it seems like you give people a small inch they take the whole damn mile and then some. Which is why I went semi-selective recently.

I’m sorry if this is all senseless bitching, it’s just somethings have been really bothering me in the past month and some muses have been getting on my fucking nerves. A small part of me being silly and clowning around is me AVOIDING a conflict that I KNOW Alexander would have not have a chance of at least defending himself in.

When I say I’m playing 4D chess with some muses it’s me trying to avoid shit I don’t wanna write in a fun and kind manner without actual OOC confrontation.

I don’t mind seeing Alex lose, but not to no overly powerful character just so you can have your ego stroked esp if everyone is obviously gonna know that you will win.

When coming back to RP, I wondered why so many people were private or mutuals only and semi-selective…I see why now and I don't blame yall.
