A Land Of Singers Chapter 4

Chapter 4-

I wished that I wouldn’t run into Velon. I knew I wasn’t about to hold my anger in if I did. I rushed through the long halls of the elves. They were intertwined with various fruits, and leaves scattered the ground. My small feet, in which I had lost my shoes sometime, crunched softly on them. It was Autumn, so they were tinted in orange.

Even the fall of leaves seemed to affect Liadrin now.

Tears threatened to spill down her cheeks, but she was already getting cautious glances from the nearby elleths. It seemed that everyone knew the secret, but her.

When Liadrin spotted the intricate design that was her door to her chambers, she sighed and relief and slowed down a little. But was still hesitant until she was concealed inside the room.

When she closed the door she automatically threw off the torn dress, changing into her previous leather gear.

She took a double take at her sword and decided to let off some steam. She strapped on her sword belt and sheathed her sword.

“Its probably wont be best to go back out there…” Liadrin spoke to herself, and eyed the balcony. She quickly swung herself down and landed gracefully landed on her bare feet.

Her room wasn’t that far from what she thought was the training grounds.

Liadrin trudged over to an unoccupied dummy and took her stance, practicing the moves her father had taught her.

She had had good success at facing her own guards, but she wanted to challenge a guard of a different sort. Hoping she had a chance.

Just then a Autumn haired elleth, in her own type of leather gear walked by. She was holding her bow out. “Hello!” Liadrin called as she past by. The She-elf turned in her direction. “Are you Liadrin, by any chance?” She called back, starting to pace over.

She nodded slowly. “Im Tauriel. Captain of the Guard in Mirkwood.” She did a slight bow, and Liadrin did all she could not to say anything. She just simply shook her head. “Would you mind, training with me? You must be good, to be Captain.” Liadrin complied.

Tauriel turned slightly and glanced up. Thats when Liadrin noticed The King was standing from a balcony, not far from where they stood. He just held a cold gaze before slightly nodding. Liadrin gaped. You can not be serious. She thought.

“I suppose.” Tauriel turned back to her and switched her bow with her sword. Liadrin unsheathed her own.

They backed up a good distance, but the whole fight, Liadrin was focused on the King. She dodged a great deal and got some good hits in, but still her focus was off. Just the knowledge of him watching her made Liadrin shiver.

Before she knew it her back was on the ground and a sword to her neck. Tauriel stood above her. Liadrin’s eyes widened as she quickly knocked Tauriels feet out from under her and she stumbled onto the ground. Liadrin shot up and held her sword out.

Tauriel admitted defeat and Liadrin helped her up. “That was impressive.” Tauriel complimented the worn out elleth. “I could say the same thing, I havent had such a good fight since…” Liadrin glanced up to see the King was gone. “Thank you for your time, Captain.” She finished. Tauriel bowed and walked off.

“I must agree with Tauriel that was quite an impressive stunt.” A deep silken voice said. Liadrin quickly spun around. Five feet away from her was her ‘future husband.’

“So eager to get me down here are we?” He asked.

Liadrin narrowed her eyes. “Not everything has to do with you.”

He gave her a slight grin,”Oh but of course it is, it is my Kingdom.”

She did not respond, so he continued. “Its good to know I won't have to worry about you getting hurt, since you can clearly defend yourself.”

“My father...taught me. So did Velon.”

“Was he the guard that came with you? Oh yes...He bids you farewell.”

Liadrin’s eyes widened. “What did you do to him?”

“Oh nothing, he left on his own will.”

Liadrin’s heart was racing. She had trusted Velon her whole life, he knew her past and secrets. He had led her here, knowing the truth, and left.

“He told me some interesting things about you Liadrin. You are much more complex than I thought.”

“What did he tell you?” Liadrin was in a mix of anger and sadness. The King stepped closer, and brushed her cheek with the back of his hand. She was too distracted to flinch away.

“All in good time, but I do think you should know a little of me, to be equal.” He leaned down and whispered in her ear,”Meet me in the library after Dinner. For answers.”

He spun around quickly and walked off.
