Ok so I have my own thoughts and little tidbits about the designs soooo hehehe!!
Don:
I LOVEEE designing jester outfits I had to give him the whole fit
Spades motif because spades represent rebellion, transformation, and acceptance. Since he was the first d-gang member we saw be redeemed-ish I thought itā€™d fit
Trident from s3 :)
Richard:
Adapted his s1 design, slicked his hair back bcs Nick would wear his down/forward. I didnā€™t want to give him the cowboy design he had in s3 because although itā€™s cool I also donā€™t think heā€™d want to continue being like Nick when by then heā€™s come into his own identity as a person
Diamonds motif for hard-working, growth, and hidden depths, but also diamonds are one of the lower classes and Richard was a grunt man for Duni
Dashlie:
Similar to Richard where I adapted her s1 fit, I think sheā€™d experiment more with fashion though and end up with a more alternative style compared to Ashlieā€™s preppier one
Clubs motif for hotheaded, recklessness, and strength. Like diamonds itā€™s lower in the ranking
She has a scar through her right eye, mainly due to the 100th episode, she has a mechanical eye and youā€™d sooner catch her DEAD for the hundredth time than going near an eyepatch and end up being compared to Duni
Duni:
Tried to give him a warmer, cozier look. I have a good amount of headcanons about Duni, one of which being he isnā€™t actually a clone of Uni but was just so obsessed with him he kept resetting the world, doing whatever it would take for him to fall in love with him, and slowly became more and more like him in an attempt to have him love him more
Mostly based on his s3 design but take off the eyepatch and give him his regular eyes and itā€™s just what I imagine for his s1 design
Hearts motif for romance, dependance, and passion
DDawn:
Very fancy man, his design doesnā€™t change much from season to season other than him getting more banged up so this is a s1 design and then in later seasons his clothes are more torn and his screen cracked
Instead of a card suit he gets the ā€œAā€ for ace, the most powerful card in any suit. This is mostly to represent how he planned to kill Duni and take the wish for his own, he was the last living D-Gang member
Ngl, accidentally Squip inspired with the circuit pattern

3. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
TNCWII ISNT A BAD GAME!!!!!! like okay its probably one of the weakest, but it has a bad wrap. if you even scratch the surface of the game you'd see its really solid. it had a lot of potential that just... didnt work out because of thq fuckery - look on the wiki, you'll see all the concepts and work that just never saw the light of day. im biased on a few fronts, but trust me, its worth a second chance, play it on dolphin using a keyboard. i really wish it was canon or at least had Respect.

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
HAREM JAU/NE. HAREM JAU/NE. HAREM JAU/NE. its as if we didnt watch the same fucking show. to me his character is like... the antithesis of "harem fodder". you see the man traumatized by the people he's lost and had to kill, especially pyr/rha, being fundamentally changed to the point where he's previously tried to commit combative-suicide, and you think "ah yes. this man would be a serial womanizer that has 47 girls hounding on his dick at any given time". maybe im a bit biased, ive loved him with all my heart for years and years now. he had his brief little macho personality for like 2 volumes max, its like so many people have never seen past his growth after the fact. i wouldnt even be this annoyed if his tag is almost exclusively harem content, or if this content was tagged. good LORD. its all nsfw and untagged and unavoidable. i dont mind seeing nsfw, but it being untagged is a problem to me.
bonus tangentially-related thing: "jau/ne is just a mi/les lu/na self insert" claims are so stupid. not even entertaining this one. cant believe people are still saying this in the year of our lord 2024. leave mil/es "duracell bunny" lu/na alone pleaseee!!!!

If it were the daughter, Dashlie would be all over her, having another girl and having to keep the title of "Wine Aunt" she'd influence the daughter the most. Of course he dads would still have as big as an impact in her life though. She would take after Don the most as a good swordsman, and quick witted in any given situation; even with the majority amount of time she's spent with Don, nonetheless Richards passive-ness and general sass passed to her (for better or worst).
Now if it were the son Dashlie would love him just the same but instead of the only-other-girl type Aunt she'd be the one to teach him about girls, cause she's the only one confident enough too do it... Richard isn't ready for the bisexual talk yet. This time the son would take after both dad's equally with Richard's passive nature and Don's quick wit, he hasn't taken much of an interest in fighting but only learning enough to defend himself if needed.
Hope y'all like my head cannons, of course they aren't strict to the designs and go ahead and name them whatever, these were just for fun!

Yā€™know, its easy to dismiss Chicky Dip, and a lot of side characters in THQ, as being one-dimensional and plain characters - with no other traits then being the ā€˜comic reliefā€™ who the audience can treat as a joke. But wow, there is so much lost protentional that the fandom could be doing with these characters. Like so much character interactions and backstories.Ā 
Some examples:Ā 
. Ashlie and Chicky Dipā€™s relationship which didnā€™t even last a day. CD clearly never got over it and is still so bitter when he first appears, but they do keep referring back to the relationship throughout season 2. The funny thing was that they keep bringing up all these things that happened between them when it was only a day. Really dramatized how they weren't compatible.
. The relationship between Chicky Dip and his brother, one of whom is drastically more successful and liked from what we see. Would be interesting to see how that could be angst-afied by the fandom (especially if you wonder about how not everyone survived the moon, and how the chicken judge might have been one of those people. Would CD have any regrets?)
. No one cares about Ricky Tip. His whole character is so fun to play around with. Like, itā€™s just Uni if Uni was a more successful, arrogant, smart and a general show off (you could also say heā€™s stronger because bedwars is canon in THQ, and heā€™s beaten Uni at it too) So overall, Ricky is the Squilliam in THQ.
. I see absolutely N O O N E talking about the fact that Ricky Tip and Paulie now work together at the end of season 3. Like, that's the only competent lawyer in THQ teaching the law to someone who tried to commit election fraud and also killed his brother. If Uni every did a spin-off - I NEED it to be about that.Ā 
. LENNERD. No one talks about Lennerd. His whole concept was so interesting and felt so unexplored. He was created by Duni to protect Uni and himself when he thought Ddawn might betray him (didnā€™t do a good job obviously) He straight up just flirts with Uni, no shy undertone, no building up to it justĀ ā€˜he lights up my lifeā€™. The fact that he KILLS Mr M for Uniā€™s safety. To be honest, I would have loved it if Lennerd joined the gang. He could be taught to be an individual who can be more then just Duniā€™s bodyguard. More then just left to believe that he only lives for Uni too. The rest of the D-gang got something, why not my guy??
.I think that Chicky Dip and Ricky Tip could have had a problem with each other. Oneā€™s got a reputation for being a really great lawyer and the other is the equivalent of hiring Lionel Hutz. I loved the implied hatred Ricky has for CD in the Misadventures of Don, but would have liked some actual interaction. I think Iā€™m the only one to have made fan content with the both of them actually.
. Chicky Dip Junior. Thatā€™s all Iā€™m going to say.
. A coherent timeline and ages would have been nice Mr. Comics
.Dashlie needed more character development. So did Dick, because neither of them felt like they grew in the actual series. Sure, we get the D-gang specials on other channels and at the end their all good now. But, where and when? The D-gang during season two were really just there for fanservice. Maybe apart from Ddawn, who intertwined with the main plot but was easily dealt with and wasnā€™t really a threat.Ā Ā The only change in the D-gang was that they grew bored of trying to kill their doppelgangers. But - we saw that in the finale of season one? Them giving up and wanting to be taken out of the mix. So it shouldnā€™t be surprising that they are still like that in season two. They still hate the others, and Duni, and just want to stay dead. Throughout season two none of the D-gang has character development, Don just starts to speak up for himself more and isnā€™t the yesman he was in season one. Season three just uses revenge as a way to get the D-gang on the good guys side, but they never redeemed or were remorseful in anyway. Not for Dick and Dashlie, Don definitely started becoming more independent and free thinking. You could tell he was definitely more empathetic in request. Basically - we deserved more Dash and Dick development in the previous seasons.
Just hoped that the fandom weren't only focused on just the D-gang and main squad. The world building and character design, though basic, was so fun and interesting by themselves!

Tbh as much as I do like to say ā€œI predicted SCP!Cory would turn evil cause of the first episode with the Scarlett king!ā€ But actually it was cause so many of his self inserts turn evil,,,crafting dead!Cory, UnderTale!Cory, THQ!Cory.
Actually wait lemme think,,,so SCP!Cory isnā€™t technically evil cause mind control, but Crafting Dead!Cory did kinda work with one of the villains for personal gain (canā€™t remember which one cause I havenā€™t watched Crafting Dead in years. In The Hardcore Quest he was a bit of a dick and a thief and super aggressive and ready to fight,,,i think UnderTale might be the only one where heā€™s really ā€˜evil,ā€™ cause he starts off as a kid (cause letā€™s be real, thereā€™s no way UT!Cory is in his 20s, the other Cories, maybe. But Ut? No.) who hurts people, but based on my memory itā€™s cause heā€™s distrustful of the monsters, and he only kills a few. Then he becomes a pretty nice guy in season 2, and becomes a purposeful destroyer of worlds between season 2 and 3 (itā€™s explained my the Minecraft UnderTale au minigames)
Iā€™m tryin to think of others, he wasnā€™t evil in Creepypasta, Iā€™m still wondering if I hallucinatingd the Yandere Sim roleplay, but Uni-Chan had to come from somewhere, he wasnā€™t evil in Fallout, i have no memory of Minecraft city, violet moon, or canā€™t kill a meme, so idk.

while saints ro IV is a complete train wreck, I still loved the fact that I actually knew a lot of new things about the boss. like how they hate/love Christmas, how they loved Johnny in a romantic way, how much they actually care and loves their friends.
but still, the game could have been better instead of a entertainment game whose biggest marketing product is dick jokes & a dick bat.
I really really hope whatever THQ is planning is something better than this.

PMD AR AU Teams
Alright! So, Teams... like in PMD, they are run by theĀ ā€œOfficial Exploration something or otherā€ but itā€™s just called... Teams HQ (THQ). The leader, or head honcho is The Judge in the usual AA Games (Heā€™s a Probopass >:3!!) You go to Teams HQ to take tests to get a badge- like the Defense Attorney Badge, but instead of that you get a badge for the occupation, such as a Rescue Badge or Exploration Badge. So without further ado, hereā€™s the explanations of Teams and how they work!
Investigation&Rescue Team (I&R Team) I&R Teams specifically focus on rescuing Pokemon around the world, getting information from a client and investigating to find the Missing Pokemon. They usually come in teams of two, a Mentor and a student, but it isnā€™t unusual to see three members. One member is highly unusual, but not particularly alarming. They usually have small offices around the Pokemon World that clients go to. It is not too unusual for I&R Teams to take Expedition Missions or Outlaw (Like Murders or Thieves) Missions either. Rescue Teams are the most common Team type. (Mia Fey, Apollo Justice, Phoenix Wright [before his disbarment], Kristoph Gavin [before his arrest])
Expedition Team Expedition Teams are focused mainly on exploring the world and completing a map. They are cartographers by trade, and are considered to be the most knowledgeable about their territory. Expedition Teams are employed by Teams HQ directly, and usually come in teams of two, or three. While completing maps is their main job, Expedition Teams are also known to take clients, either with Outlaws or Rescuing, though this is not common. Mostly, they are sent to delegated offices around the world to study and make their maps and are usually used as Information Spies due to their enhanced knowledge of the area and the happenings. (Athena Cykes, Clay Terran)
Exploration Team Like I&R Teams, Exploration Teams have their own Offices around the world. However, instead of only usually having one team occupying each agency/office, they are allowed to have multiple Team types in one building. For example, one Exploration Team office can have a Rescue Team and Expedition Team in it- it is a hub for them to get clients. Exploration Teams themselves usually have two to three members, have common grounds in clients- from Rescuing, to Outlaw battling, to exploring new areas. They are the hardest Team to get a Badge in, and usually require previous experience in a different Team before acceptance to becoming an Exploration Team. (Phoenix Wright [after his disbarment])
Hunters Hunters focus on catching Outlaws. They are most common in singles or pairs. They fill up the most of Teams HQ, and usually come into conflict with other Teams. They are the ā€œprosecutesā€ of the Pokemon World, and arrest Outlaws. Specifically outsourced from Teams HQ as well. They do occasionally take Rescue missions however, should the situation be dire enough. (Miles Edgeworth, Winston Payne, Klavier Gavin, Simon Blackquill, etc)
Detectives Detectives are strictly information gatherers, but do occasionally take Outlaw missions as well. (Dick Gumshoe)
Outlaws (Not a Team.) They are murderers, thieves, etc. Crooks of all kinds. (Kristoph Gavin [after his arrest], etc)
Other Investigative partners do not need Badges to join a team- however, they can not be a Team Leader or go missions themselves unless they have badges. {Maya Fey, Pearl Fey, Trucy Wright, etc)

The Archonā€™s Review of Impossible Creatures
Impossible Creatures is a real-time strategy game developed by THQ Nordic and Relic Entertainment. You play as Rex Chance, a former reporter formerly working on the Spanish Civil War. Rex gets a letter from his father, one Dr. Eric Chanikov. Chanikov begs Rex to come and see him on an island in... the ocean somewhere. Rex does not find his father, but instead finds a monstrous tiger-mantis hybrid in a jar, and then one out of a jar. This horror chases Rex out into the snow, where a group of the hybrid beasts surround him, and he meets Upton Julius, Chanikovā€™s former partner and professional megalomaniac. Upton tries to kidnap Rex, but Rex is rescued by Dr. Lucy Willing, an action scientist with a flying train-lab. Together, the pair try to find Dr. Chanikov and unlock the secrets of SIGMA technologyā€™s creature combining power.

Another late review, another RTS review. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this one was made by Relic, the Dawn of War dudes. Seeing as how I really liked Dawn of War, I determined that this one would be pretty rad too! I was more or less right.
To start, the game has this sort of diesel/steam/electric-punk aesthetic going for it, with all the structures looking as though theyā€™re held together by subpar welding and the very eau de la Industrial Revolution; find it today at your local Macyā€™s. I sort of dig this aesthetic, and thought it cohered very well with other elements of the game.

Now, as you may have guessed, the core mechanic of the game is stapling creatures together to form crazy-powerful warbeasts capable of the destruction of your enemies, who are doing the same. There are 50 different creatures to combine, more if you play with the Insect Invasion expansion that comes with the Steam release. Seeing as how you can staple together the various parts in different ways, this gives us literal shittons of combinations to pick from.

And this gives us the role this game plays in our entertainment-sphere. Some games want to tell a great story. Others want to be awesome multiplayer experiences. Still others want to explore newfound game mechanics. Impossible Creatures may be one of the best ā€œfor funā€ games Iā€™ve ever played. The central mechanic of combining creatures is just plain fun! Like, you could spend a day to a week trying to find the most optimal creature combos for your bed-ridden blueprints, but you could also spend hundreds of time units just sticking creatures together just see what you get. I spent a comparable amount of time just dicking around as I did with the actual campaign. What did I find out? Sticking a fish head on a giraffe body is horrifying, and giant bees with the head of any non-bug is terrifying.
Speaking of that story, it kind of doesnā€™t make much sense. The antagonist, Upton Julius, wants to use the SIGMA technology to take over the world (insert obligatory M. Bison quote here). But I mean, even if the animals are buff as hell and bigger and meaner and more obedient than they might otherwise be, the armies of the world still have guns, which I imagine would be very effective against animals. In fact, the standard defensive turret, the Sonic Turret, is kind of daft, as I imagine bullet turrets would work just as well. Also, the story makes out that Chanikovā€™s research (that being SIGMA itself) was largely ignored by the scientific community. Ahem, special message to the writers: Are you lads fucking daft? Do you think that someone could invent fucking animal hybrids using DNA samples and electricity and coal and no one in the scientific community would care? I think not. I think that everyone would care a lot. Because cā€™mon, fucking animal hybrids! Jegus.
Now, the mechanics of the campaign are actually quite interesting. In many RTS campaigns, youā€™re given new mechanics to work with piecemeal, just sort of acquiring them for freesies over the course of the campaign. There might be a mission or two dedicated to getting historically or strategically important technologies or troops, but otherwise, they just sort of appear to create a nice, even learning curve. In Impossible Creatures, however, Thereā€™s a very real emphasis on discovery and active acquisition of new play elements. You send out Rex to gather new specimens for combining, and Lucy to gather schematics on enemy buildings so that you can build them. Thereā€™s often at least one building a mission, and several specimens to find to boot. This is a neat deviation from the norm, at any rate.

Now I do have a couple of issues. The first is that Iā€™m not entirely certain as to whether or not the depiction of the Inuit and African natives of the islands is racist. Like, it seems to get slightly more racist as the game goes on. At first, Rexā€™s condescending attitude toward the natives is met with a dry wit that I found hilarious, especially since it averted the whole ā€œmighty whiteyā€ thing that I was sure was going on. But then later on, when an African native cried out in a mystical ululation that caused the animals to disperse, I thought, ā€œYeah... that was almost certainly some kind of racistā€. Also, all the natives, no matter the aesthetic or implied ethnicity, have exactly the same face and voice actor. This was probably a side-effect of budgetary constraints, but it creates some unfortunate implications.
Another thing is that because of how the creature combiner is balanced, it is entirely possible to accidentally create a massively overpowered creature (Archerfish head on a Giraffe body). It is also possible to accidentally create a massively underpowered creature (Front half Moose, back half Mammoth). Youā€™ll probably want to look at some guides to figure out the best combinations, but really, just be careful, and look closely at stats versus resource costs.
Ō» Õ¾Õ„Ö€Õ»Õø, Impossible Creatures is a game for someone who wants to play with an Endless Legend/Space gameā€™s customization, but with a totally different aesthetic and with a completely different story and itā€™s about combining animals and itā€™s an RTS. So if that appeals to you... you strange person, this is the game for you! Will I be playing this again? Maaaaybe. Iā€™d need to figure out how do make a decent endgame creature out of a Moose. Because Moose are rad.
Also! I donā€™t normally endorse mods, because I feel like I should be reviewing the product of the devs, rather than the products of other people. But this time, I will endorse the Tellurian mod.It adds a host of new creatures and balances out some of the other ones. In fact, the devs considered adding the mod as an official expansion, a la Age of Empires 2: The Forgotten, but decided against it because, supposedly, itā€™d make it harder for the mod devs to update it. Regardless, itā€™s a great mod for a decent game.
