It’s okay to rest. You’re not falling behind, you’re recharging for the path ahead

Sometimes you need to distance yourself from people. If they care, they’ll notice and respond. And if they don’t then you’ll know where you stand.

You never realize the holes a person leaves behind until you fall into them.

I am learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things that aren’t meant for me.

I'm not who I was one year ago and maybe, just this once, change is good.

She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines. She was beautiful, for the way she thought. She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved. She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul.

"Having a pet who explodes in popularity on the internet to the extent that an aspiring populist names a government department after your pet" is the kind of thing that would have happened in an episode from the back half of Futurama

Sad but true
I’m just a clingy loser who needs constant attention and reassurance that you love me

People underestimate how much it fucks you up to be subtly excluded as a kid. I would try to talk to my classmates and be met with disinterest or annoyance. The one friend I had, who I clung to and nodded along to his every word, had other friends he liked just as much or more. And his other friends didn’t care for me at all.
I look back at pictures from the time and see how separated I was from them. I remember knowing I was different. I remember posing questions about the world to the girls playing next to me and realizing that they had never asked the same ones to themselves. That the ways we thought couldn’t be more different.
I kept myself amused with my own fanatical stories and musings in my head. I would wander the playground on a circular path, imagining a friend and being sorely disappointed when it didn’t feel as real as I’d hoped.
There was a bubble separating me from everyone else, thin, and nearly invisible, but with a pearly sheen you could catch under the right conditions. I knew it was there, they knew it was there, and it changed me
