Swap au character intros part 4!!!

Spoilers for specifically Raincode Chapter 0 ahead!

Let's start with Zilch! In this au his forte becomes Audial Aptitude - thanks in part to his animal ears. If you've seen my art of Zilch before, you'll probably have noticed I like drawing him with his animal ears as his actual ears and not on top of his hat. It's cuz I generally just hate the ambiguity of it. Are the animal ears real? Are they just on his hat? Why do they move? Why does he have 4 ears? So I just like making his animal ears his only set of ears. That being said, apparently they're fox ears??? I always assumed wolf??? But I digress- His uniform has been changed up to be reminiscent of an orchestra conductor cuz hahah audio. His face tattoos are meant to be those spotify code scanners - the right cheek leading to It's All So Incredibly Loud by Glass Animals and We Own The Night by Chandler Kinney on the left (cuz I think it's funny!) As for his last name change, "Allegro" in musical terms means "to be played very quickly" which I thought would suit him quite well as someone who can solve cases really fast. His personality is basically the same, the only alteration being that he carries around a notepad and pen in order to help keep track of all the hundreds of things he's constantly hearing all the time.

Next is Pucci. She's received Spectal Projection from Melami and if you thought being good at hearing made her existential then BOY HOWDY does being able to use her body as a vessel for spirits fuck her up even more! Originally I was going for a classic "fortune teller" look for her but I instead went with a cute seamstress-y sort of look instead cuz I couldn't really get what I had in mind initially to look good. She wears a tape measure like a scarf and a thimble as a necklace charm. Her eyes, while cute, have a sort of dead look in them that make others wonder if she's even alive at all. Her last name has been changed from Lavmin to Lavender because in flower language, they're representive of purity, serenity, grace and calmness - all traits she seems to exhibit until she actually starts talking and you realise she's just sort of awkward and shy. She finds it easier to talk to ghosts/spirits then living creatures and honestly probably gets along reeeaaally well with this AU's version of Vivia.

Now, you may be looking at Aphex and going "Rindude! You changed fuck all about him!" And yeah, you're right... The only major changes I made was switching out his coat, boots and like doubling his muscle mass. He's strong. He could beat you up, no questions asked and it definitely shows! His forte is now Thoughtography but he's just as angry as ever - originating from the "front lines" that canon Zange mentioned in his own backstory. For that reason, his coat is inspired by WW2 trenchcoats and while my art doesn't show it very well, everything he's wearing looks and smells like he's crawled straight out of a dumpster. Originally I was going to change his last name to Harkness as an homage to Captain Jack Harkness, a WW2 soldier inspired character from (surprise, surprise) Doctor Who but considering the fact I did that exact same thing with an oc of mine for my A levels earlier this year... I instead went with Tyler; an homage to another Doctor Who character called Rose Tyler who is also a badass blonde <3

And that's all the details I'm sharing for now! It's a little strange considering I've written the Storm Cypher fanfic about half way through its chapter 0 already so I have a lot more to say about the train gang then I did anyone else - since they've already had stuff actually written for them. Melami and Zange's swap au designs will drop like... as soon as I figure out how to draw elderly people. So soon, hopefully! But yeah, I'm cooking super good atm I just can't really share much due to the nature of writing lol. I've been loving getting asks about it though! Deadass, it makes me kick my legs and giggle to know people are crazy enough to care about this AU- >w<

OCtober Challenge Day 20 - Tricky

They didn't know what to expect as they walked through the halls. Vittorio was amongst the Executives of the Varia, it had been a good few years of torment, not being able to move from the Varia's headquarters for long, not being able to move without another person with him.

Being hunted by Kira like he was... has been a struggle. So it was time to hunt her back. It was tricky even finding her base, the amount of fake versions of her she had, had made it extremely difficult for Mammon to locate her with thoughtography.

Though as they walked Vittorio felt watched. Despite everywhere they looked not having any indication of this. No matter, they knew there was a good chance, that when he does find the room with the others, that it would be a trap. This was her domain after all.

It's simply managing to break her expectations from there.

Easier said than done. In their other encounters... It was nightmarish and otherwordly.

He was afraid to find out what could happen with her at her full power, and not just some watered down conduit. But if he wanted to be free...

He had to take this chance.

Vittorio's encounter with Kira will be a quick but horrific one. Also hope you enjoy the knowledge that kira can manipulate not just people but the entire area around her to her whims.

The varia are going to be in a nightmare situation! Enjoy that thought!

So I’ve been delving into art magic and finding terms that I’m not familiar with. Have you ever experienced anything to do with magical photography? What would be the uses? Specifically, there was a term “thoughtgraphs” that I’m not sure what it means.

A brief search on the Internet brought me to the Wikipedia page for thoughtography, though I don't think that's what you're really interested in. It kind of has the same energy as when people were taking photos in seances with "ectoplasm" though.

Admittedly, I've never seen magic done solely through photography. I've certainly used printed images or photos for things like taglocks or places to draw energy from, but for me, it's always been a supplement to my other tools.

Sorry if this doesn't help much! Gonna toss it to the dash to see what other people think.

And now~ the final Mammon!

You know, their Thoughtography is actually insanely useful, the ability to locate any object or person(with the exception of powerful mist users though it almost told who Chrome was but not quite with the initials). Used both in this arc and X-fiamma where they use their abilities to create a live combat map of all enemies is ridiculously good for the team of assassins. Honestly I'm surprised this isn't used more in rainbow arc given somehow the Varia were caught off guard by Hibari and Fon, you'd think Mammon would just be doing that.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun this month! I get a two month break (of course i'm going to be doing other art not related to this in between but shhh) and then we're back at it in October with Xanxus and a double feature with my OC challenge haha~ See you then~

Hatate Himekaido, my favorite tengu!

Shoe size?

If she ever wore regular shoes, I believe she'd wear a size 24 (US 8). Tengu have skinny little bird legs.

Would she step in and handle it?

No. Not even if "it" was someone needing to hold the camera for a photo. She'd try to thoughtography it instead.

Favorite genre of music?

Alt and indie rock, but only from the early 2000s and before. She can talk for hours about the Arctic Monkeys, the White Stripes, Garbage, but mention Marissa Paternoster and she'd say "That's not how you say the human witch girl's name."

Sex/romance/fucked up and gay?

She fucks more than Aya, but slugs are higher off the ground than earthworms. I guess she might crush on pretty phantoms that only show up under psychic photography or something.

General thoughts?

Aya sucks because she's a sensationalist reporter who inserts herself in the story constantly, but at least she's out there doing reporting. Hatate is a different kind of sucky reporter, someone who avoids engaging with the story and looks at it solely from a distance. Hatate seems likely to be a reaction to the rise of blogs and blogging about the news. Inside of you there are two crows...

But going into more interpretative moves, the hikikomori/shut-in jokes with Hatate seem like they're a reasonable and natural reaction to being stuck in tengu society and never being able to get ahead, but never being able to fall behind too far. Why not check out at that point? Maybe her rivalry with Aya is giving her a reason to do things now, and maybe their rivalry is becoming less sharp as a consequence of other trends in news media in the outside world, putting them both under threat.

Anyways, as a blogger, she's definitely a Poster, but like Sanae, she's a relic from a different world. She's still on haz cheezburger and you're the man now, dog.
