Maybe the problem with Christian fiction is that it's non-denominational. People are just "Christian", with no effort put into showing what practicing that religion looks like for them specifically. No indication that there are other Christians who could have different beliefs. No wrestling with differing ideas and the struggle of how one should live out their Christian faith. And that makes it unrealistic and unrelatable.

The thing about Otohan is that she had an awesome mechanical build and she served a narrative purpose in that the party lived in fear of her for nearly 60 episodes but she truly did die as she lived, with a personality replaced by frogs and murderous intent. And the thing is I suspect there's plenty of interesting stuff about there. I've been there as a DM, having built a super cool NPC with worldbuiding ties that the party simply did not give a shit about, and I think that's the same situation here.

Legend of the Peaks isn't particularly meaningful since only two party members have any recollection of the Apex War and neither show the slightest interest in the politics thereof and they haven't really been relevant to the story. We don't know why she worshiped the Raven Queen once nor what happened to make her stop while still using that symbol...and it hasn't really been relevant to the story. We don't know if the backpack came from her or was from Ludinus...but it's not really relevant to the story other than tracing the potions of possibility back through Treshi and Jiana. We don't know what specifically drove her towards the Vanguard other than lacking answers as a Ruidusborn - which may have simply been enough - but again. Not relevant. We have Liliana to represent the perspective of a Ruidusborn who went through the Omen Archive study and whose motivations warped and twisted from a place of genuine worry and fear, and we have Ludinus to represent the centuries-long architect of this entire plan (plus he can't stop monologuing about his motivations, and that is a compliment). That's plenty.

And so Otohan consistently fails the Sexy Lamp With A Gun Attached Test, and it doesn't really matter, and I'm sure there was a backstory there but there's quite literally been no reason to care about it at any point, and I think most people do not. Her entire purpose within the narrative was that of a sentient evil Jersey Barrier that ultimately had to be blown up. I'm infinitely more interested in the loot drop that resulted from her death (and obviously the emotional ramifications of FCG's sacrifice) than any of her repetitive zealot bullshit.

Meet the KinitoBAND (placeholder name while i think, i'm open to suggestions though). They're a rather niche yet beloved band who play a multitude of different genres. all of their songs have a rather upbeat nature, or, they used to. lately they've been leaning more into rock and sometimes it just gets a little... strange... wonder why that is? they're actually more like vocaloids(???) that are programmed like Kinito with the react response algorithm (Kinito's i more advanced, but they've all got it) so if they ever did interact it'd be alright. the programmer (Sonny C) had initially only meant for there to be a vocalist but there was a decision somewhere to make a band (so there's a drummer and a guitarist too)

Let's get into the characters

Kinito The vocalist + tech Kinito is a fan-favourite, to be expected of the one who is always in view front 'n center. personality-wise he's similar to his canon counterpart, just a bit (emphasis on bit) more chill. i've imagined him to get a little... parasocial with his fans who probably just went for the music. he has a bit of a persona on stage, you could say. he's more energetic and in general might be a little more aggressive than usual, especially lately.

Sam The drummer Sam isn't quite as popular as Kinito, but he's got quite a few fans who might not gravitate towards Kinito like almost all the promotional material wants you to or people who like the drums. personality - Sam has a calm, almost 'cool guy' demeanor. he acts relitivley the same on and off stage. Jade the guitarist Jade, unfortunately, is the least popular member of the band. She's got a couple devoted fans, but noticeably less than the others. just as intended. personality- she's quite resourceful and the most upfront about things of the band. she's generally louder than the others, not on purpose, she's just not the best at maintain a good speaking volume.

Bad news: That joke post about including Reset + Orchid is definitely not canon. (I legit got sad thinking about Reset being in a universe where Orchid isn't- because their stories are so so intertwined- but Nightmare 100% would NOT risk the whole twins exploding Error's soul thing.)

Good news: This means I COULD include Kane (Reset's older brother who usually dies in timelines where Reset is born) and use it to develope his character a bit more! Also! Perhaps a Blue × Dream kiddo is finally in the stars for me to design?

AU Edward Nygma

@dariusblake and I are actually still on the fence about how to take his character.

Personally, I'd have him be the healthiest mentally and generally. Initially becoming a teacher, specifically to be the supportive figure he needed as a kid (being smart and combative, questioning everything no one wanted questioned, generally put down and held back). Although he was technically just a maths teacher, he managed to apply his subject in a way that meant he effectively taught his students the entire curriculum through a mathematical lens (art, architecture, biology, chemistry, physics, etc.). Encouraging his students to question everything, particularly everything taught in the standard curriculum.

I think this version of Ed would really not stand children, despite being a teacher (the same was true for all my best teachers). His initial attempt at going straight by trying to be that supportive figure and change things from the inside on a small scale would be somewhat self-indulgent (to fulfill his own personal need for a supportive figure retroactively and to show off his superior intellect in a way that is relatively socially acceptable) and something he would later consider foolish and naïve once he does start trying to disrupt the corporate and state powers that dictate the education system and society at large.

Unfortunately, eventually Ed gets fired a. For diverting wildly from the curriculum (even if it lead to students attaining a better understanding of each subject much earlier than expected) and b. For attempting to out the headmaster as a nonce. He was already very much aware that being the healthy supportive figure he needed to others wouldn't help the wider structural issues that lead to people being taught not to think and keep their head down. This Ed still has an ego of course, but is much more secure in his own intelligence and feels less of a need to prove it to others as it is clearly self-evident. No, his riddles are less to prove his intellect over others and rather to make people think. He wants them to be engaged with and becomes more brazen with his presentation to force them into the spotlight. Less to show off (though that too) and more to force everyone to face the questions they otherwise don't think about.

Around the time Ed appears in the story, he's investigating the very same corruption that Bruce is (new to being Batman and recently returned to any involvement in Wayne Enterprises, so has a lot of dirty laundry to sort) and they end up crossing paths (both as investigators and with Ed targeting Bruce himself regarding Wayne Enterprises corruption). Initially, his riddles are a way to keep his old students informed about what's actually going on in Gotham while remaining under the radar. I also feel like he'd plant some riddles unrelated to that info that instead lead to a prize or something to throw off anyone who might also figure them out.
