ok so i did the elizabeta mission where the feds show up and you have to lose your wanted level and i had the brilliant idea to try to not get off the roof the way we came and uh
i fell twice and ended up on a lower roof i couldn't get back up from. at this point the whole sidewalk (aka: only exit) is crawling with cops and i fucking lost playboy
sit there for well over five minutes trying to figure out where to run and if i'm gonna be able to steal a car fast enough. i'm really bad at cop chases in this game.
finally decide to make break for an alleyway. decide to shoot the only cop in the way.
this instantly ups my wanted level to three stars instead of two and they send a fucking helicopter. oops!
realize i still have the sniper rifle from the previous mission so i take the chopper down. promptly make a break for the alleyway on foot and somehow pull it off.
upon realizing i stand no chance getting fully out of the wanted zone on foot, i grab a car and book it. disastrous car chase ensues. playboy is still fucking gone btw.
finally manage to get way out of the area, swerve to dodge another cop car, end up barreling through some trees miraculously without crashing, drive into a parking deck, end up in the airport somehow??? eventuallly i see a staircase, ditch the car, and sprint upstairs. realize it's the train station. i'm relatively safe but still in the wanted zone.
jump across the tracks and just. ran alongside them all the way to the end of the search zone. lose the heat level.
then have to go ALL THE WAY BACK the way i came to go get playboy because i left him
so all in all maybe the funniest cop evasion i've ever pulled in any game like this and that includes the time in mafia definitive edition where i also ended up driving off a hill into the airport, which is apparently my lucky charm? other updates include:
driving all the way to brucie's garage to do his mission, parking directly in front of it, and immediately getting called by roman to hang out. couldn't bring myself to say no.
checking out the designer clothing store on the new island and buying nothing because the sweaters were a hundred dollars and i'm one of those video game players who refuses to buy anything ever also everything was kind of ugly except the green sweater and the plaid shirt. then going into the suit store and leaving without even looking around.

More SV
I’m back! Yes, I am. And today – after installing that Diesel stuff pack that I found for cheap over on Amazon – I opened my game. I actually did a lot, even though I didn’t take pictures of everything. Because well, I’m lazy. No lie! But before I get to that, I’d like to thank all those who have - and continue - to serve in our military. Without your sacrifice, we could not enjoy the liberties we take for granted. So thank you all, very much.
Now, back to SV.
Down on the beachfront, I bulldozed that corner house at 1 Sun Song and plonked down a pale gray version of the house I used for the Koffi family. I plan on using variations of this house along this entire section of road, because 1) I’m lazy and it’s a quick fix. And 2) I’m lazy and in my town history, all of these houses along this stretch of road were built by the same contractor, years ago. And he was cheap, so he used the same basic floorplan for all of them. Then charged a bunch of simoleons for “personalization” of the different properties – ie: different exterior paint. Btw, if you’re wondering about the weird parking, it’s because the parking space takes up too damn much room. Motorcycles don’t need as much space as cars. No lie, EA!
Anyway, while I did that house, I also took the family into CAS – which you all know I HATE!!! – and gave them make-overs. Hank – thanks to the awesome Master Controller – is now the brother of Justine Keaton, and BFF with her husband. Pauline will also be getting a sibling – that Asian Sim from the Working Friends household. But unlike Hank, Pauline doesn’t know that Tori Kimura is her sister, since they were adopted into different families as toddlers. And right now, they don’t really like one another, since Pauline thinks Tori is a snob – mostly because Tori went to Uni, while Pauline didn’t.
Anyway, once I got done with them, I hopped over to the empty spa lot and placed Tedhi’s remake of Hogan’s Diner. And for those of you who are interested, EVERYONE seems to go to this lot! It is always packed! The only thing I did to it, was trade out the tissue boxes for actual napkin holders – the ones that came with that 50’s diner set. Tedhi has been limiting herself to just base-game crap, but not me! I’ve got tons of CC and I’m not afraid to use it. Mostly because I don’t have to deal with whiney players who download her lots and complain about CC. Oh! The other thing I did, was trade out the bike stand out front for the ones made by Mspoodle – thank you! I’ve been using them on a lot of my community lots, since the city council is currently promoting the new “green” agenda, and since the bike rentals all belong to the city, they can charge exorbitant prices for rentals. As the city fathers like to remind voters, it’s “Progress as Promised.” Even though it’s really not.
Then I hopped down to that lot where Koffi originally lived and bulldozed his old house, then rezoned the lot to a fusion lounge. Then I put that store bistro lot there. I did make a few changes to it. Outside, I added a small fence around that outdoor eating area, because in real life, there would be one, because of potential lawsuits. I believe it’s a Sims 1 fence that Grande Llama put up for download. (I really like his stuff!) I also changed all the tables to be the same. And used Ani’s menus – since I use her Mod. Then I gave the place a sign – from Around the Sims 3. Don’t know what it says, but it looks good at night.
Inside, I made the kitchen a tad smaller, so that I could add that hallway next to the stairs. It goes back to a bathroom. In the main area, I didn’t add a lot of junk, since I hate getting those routing issues when Sims can’t figure out how to walk around stuff. I just changed out the tables for the ones I used outside.
Anyway, upstairs, I expanded the area a tad. Got rid of the bathrooms and added a bit over what was a flat roof area - that’s where all those windows come in. Then I used one of those Late Night bars and some furniture from Around the Sims 3. That open area by the DJ thingie is actually a small “invisible” dance floor from Mod the Sims. And viola! Another lot done! Go me!
Because this post is already so long, I’ll show you some more in the next one.
#sims 3 Sunset Valley renovation thanks to Tedhi#Grande Llama#and Sandy from Around the Sims 3 and Ani and Mod the Sims

04:23 am - Dino -> 💯
On occasion of the 0.1k event.
Prompt: “Did I ever explain to you how to properly push a cow?” + “Abort Mission! Retreat!”
Genre: Fluff! Crack!
Pairing: ChanxReader
Memo: I am so happy this was requested with Chan omg it fits so well. This is based on my own experience and it’s a memory I always forget about and then suddenly remember lol It’s buried somewhere deep in my head and pops up every now and then
“Did I ever explain to you how to properly push a cow?” You ask and Chan snorted, having trouble not spitting his beer across the tent.
“No you haven’t. But please, elaborate.”
You sit up a little bit more straight and Chan got chills as he saw your eyes lighting up. He loved seeing you all passionate about something. Which happened a lot to be honest. A huge part of your friendship was hyping each other up and getting each other into new things.
“So it’s actually hilariously easy. You approach the animal from a side of your choice and lean against. Just lean heavily and then quickly take a step back. The cow will try to balance it out but because you’re suddenly gone it will over do it and fall to the side you were leaning on.”
“You made this sounds way too professional.”
“That is a very serious topic so you should always treat it with the appropriate amount of professionalism.” You smile and take a chug from your beer.
“I want to try it.”
“Pushing a cow?”
Chan nodded excitedly and got up, his head pushing against the roof of the tent. It was a warm summer night early in the morning. The two of you made camping plans for a long long time but since covid emerged you couldn’t go anywhere. So eventually decided to just camp on your parents farm.
Your parents knew Chan well. You had been friends since kindergarten and since you didn’t see each other that often since you entered university they were happy to see him again. Your mother went on and on about how tall he’d gotten and how handsome he’d become and when your mother mentioned all these things so smitten by him you began to notice them yourself.
You secretly hated her for pointing it out.
Because this certainly wasn’t the first time you camped together. You’ve done it a million times. Sleeping in the same tent, changing in the same tent. When you were younger you even shared a sleeping bag when the temperatures suddenly dropped.
But since your mother got all fangirl about Chan you couldn’t stop noticing how he had changed from when he was a kid or teenager. He still was your age but as often as you forgot that you got older, you certainly forgot that he was ageing as well.
“Of course.” He waved at you. “Hello? Are you tired?”
You didn’t notice you were staring at him, completely ignoring his answer. You only just now noticed that his cute little young boy hands had turned into grown-up man hands since you last saw him.
And even though you hated to admit it: You just wanted to know what it felt like holding them.
“What? We can try it. You know we have cows.” Just the second you said these words he opened the entrance and disappeared into the night.
“Dude, wait!” You shout and go after him. The last time you’ve checked the clock it displayed 3 am. Some time passed since then and even though that number climbed up - the temperatures didn’t. It was still cold.
Morning dew covered the ankle-high grass. You planted the tent under the huge tree in the corner of your parent’s farm. It was somewhat far away from the house and the stables and hangars where they kept all those huge machines one needed to stay on top of the whole thing.
You ran after him, both of you left your beers in the tent.
“Chan wait!” You shouted and your breath condensed in front of your eyes. He stoped around 200 meters ahead of you and turned around.
Seeing him, the sillhouette of his grey hoodie against the dark blue-is green of the forest behind the farm. As you caught up to him waiting for you, you painfully noticed how much you had missed him.
“We shouldn’t push our cows.” You said.
“Why not? Are they getting old?” Chan joked and you laughed at it softly.
“Yes and no, but we should push the neighbour’s cows. He blocked my parked car with his at he grocery store last week and I have to pay him back.”
—
“Okay, so you remember how I explained it to you?” You ask sitting next to him on the fence.
“Lean against it and then go away and very likely run away? Because cows are animals and they will come for you.”
“Exactly they are less peaceful than you think and also there is a dog somewhere who goes off as soon as he hears a moo that isn’t off a satisfactory origin.”
Chan laughed and jumped down the fence. He tied his shoe laces and his look fell onto your bare feet by the way. “Where are your shoes?”
“You ran off so quickly I didn’t have time to put them on.” You say and he smiled in apology.
“I am sorry, you know how excitement always gets the better of me.”
“I do.” You say. “Now go and push your cow, boy.”
As he ran off to find a cow and shouted back: “I will get back to you for that one later because that was low, even for you!”
You laughed and just prayed that the dog didn’t hear either one of you. Soon Chan was out of sight and you let your eyes wander across the foggy pasture. For a few minutes you were alone with your thoughts again. And if you liked it or not: They always wandered off to Chan. Even though you tried to distract you. Maybe it was the unusual time of the day that caused this blue feeling but it just wouldn’t let go of you.
Suddenly you hear a scandalised “MOO” and shortly after aggressive dog barking. Even shorter after that you saw your friend emerging from the fog and running sprinting towards you, nothing but fear on his face.
“Abort Mission! Retreat!” He yelled and as he reached both you and the fence he quickly jumped over it propping up with one hand and pulling the perplexed you with him. So that you almost fell back first off it.
But Chan didn’t let go of your wrist and pulled you closely behind him through the tiny forest that separated your farm form the neighbours farm.
“Chan, ouch! Stop! I’m not wearing any shoes!” You cry out as he dragged you through the trees and undergrowth. “The dog can’t get over the fence!”
“I bet he can!” Chan yelled 100% certain.
“He is trained not to! Would you just stop?” As soon as those words left your lips he stopped and you bumped right into him. Heavily panting he looked at you.
“It’s trained not to? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I thought you’d remember!”
“How would I remember, we didn’t see each other for over two years.” He said, catching his breath in-between words. “Btw you don’t remember everything I told you either.”
“What am I not remembering?” You ask frowning and struggling for air. What ever he was about to say next - he sounded somewhat offended. Hurt actually. Just as if he was sitting on this unresolved matter the entire night.
“You seriously don’t remember how I told you I liked you back then?” He noticed the change in your eyes and leaned forward, propping up on his knees, one hand on his chest to avoid your look. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring it up. It’s so long ago … you probably do remember but didn’t say anything because you don’t feel the same-“
“Except I do.” You state bluntly and look at him deadly serious, still catching your breath. The quiet forest around you swallowed every noise the two of you made which gave your words a very ultimate feeling. Chan looked up.
“I really don’t remember when you told me but I swear since my mother noticed all these things about you earlier today ... I notice them too and I felt how much I have missed you the entire night. I guess I just got used to not being around you when I am at college but now that we’re spending time again I know what I was missing.”
“Okay no, say that again. I think I lost the thread. My ears are still pounding from the running.” He demanded.
“Chan, I think I like you. And I think I did for a long time-“
He didn’t let you finish your sentence by righten for up and crushing his lips on yours. After a second you pulled away as you still were out of breath and you had to chose between kissing him and breathing.
Which was honestly a tough choice to make.
“Sorry, I had to.” He said, wanting to take a step back but you kept him from it. “I had been sitting on this for too long.” He apologised and avoided your eyes once again.
“No, no. Don’t be sorry. I just need to breathe.”
Somewhere in the distance a dog started barking again. “As much as I want to continue this, I think we should head home first.” You say and finally (finally!) acted according to your wants and grabbed his hand. It felt amazing. Chan had a naturally tight grip. Promising to never let you go.
After a few steps and curses from your side he crouched down in front of you, to piggy back carry you home.
Which you happily accepted.

Inspired by this 😔✍️ this is a song fic btw
Let's start!
3rd December...
It was a chilly day for the two, they we're outside of the dorms just watching the white snow on the ground and on the trees
‘I still remember third of December’
While they were out, they have to use warm clothes, Shuichi was wearing a shirt while wearing a sweater on the outside, he was wearing those comfy pants that people would use at cold days, he brought he's coat just to make sure he isn't that cold
But for Kokichi, he wasn't wearing something that you can call warm enough, he was wearing a thin long sleeved shirt, and the same comfy pants he would use every day if he decides to stay at the dorm, while he's bottom half is warm but the top wasn't, Shuichi could see him shivering on the bench
‘Me in your sweater, you said it looked better’
So he comes to he's side, and takes off he's sweater and give it to Kokichi, Kokichi was looking at him with a questioning look
“here, wear it...”
“why are you giving something that could keep you yourself warm, Saihara-Chan?”
“cause you seem to be freezing, and don't worry I brought my coat just in case it was really cold...”
“What?!! I'm not worried... Thank you...” Kokichi mumbled the last part while he's face has a little tint of red, he took the sweater and wears it
‘On me, than it did you, only if you knew’
It has the smell of Shuichi clinging into it, the smell calmed him down and it has a left over of Shuichi warm around it to
“here... I brought some hot chocolate... Want some?” Shuichi was already wearing his coat, and he now has 2 cups of hot chocolate in a coffee cup
“where did that came from?" Kokichi had a dump founded face on him ‘seriously where did it came from??’
‘How much I liked you,’
“it's... Magiccccc” Shuichi answered with the mimic of Himiko's voice, this made Kokichi laugh a bit, as he reaches the warm hot chocolate with he's hands
“thanks... Saihara-Chan...”
12 January...
Kokichi was picking up he's stuff in he's locker, while Shuichi was waiting beside him
He was wearing Shuichi's sweater as it seems that the cold weather hasn't disappeared yet
When he was done he finally turned to Shuichi “i'm done Saihar-” he was cut of from the way Shuichi was starting at another individual
‘but I watch your eyes’
He looked over to spot the one and only Piano Freak of the school, Kaede Akamatsu
If he was being true to himself, he didn't like Kaede that much as she was to hipity hopety, and he can see that she has a crush on Shuichi
‘As she walks by
What a sight for sore eyes
Brighter than the blue sky
She's got you mesmerized’
While Shuichi was focused on her, he's body moved by he's own as he leaves Shuichi standing by his locker
It had felt as if he didn't exist anymore, and honestly...
That killed him inside...
‘while I die’
(this part is where Kokichi sings the song- I changed it a bit-)
“Why would you ever kiss me?
I'm not even half as pretty
You gave me your sweater
It's just polyester
But you like her better
Wish I were Heather...”
Kaede was standing beside Shuichi while holding he's hand, they were used with holding each other, people would even think they were together, but Shuichi would denied immediately
‘Watch as she stands with her holding your hand’
They were walking with each, while Kokichi was watching in the far distance
He was clinging on Shuichi sweater as if it's hugging him, he was getting really cold
‘Put your arm 'round her shoulder, now I'm getting colder’
Even though he hates it when they get clingy to each other, he couldn't hate her at all, she was still kind to him like she does with everyone else
‘But how could I hate her? She's such an angel’
“But then again... kinda wish she were dead...”
(you could say we change POV to Shuichi, this is when he was looking at Kaede a while ago)
‘As she walks by
What a sight for sore eyes’
While Shuichi was looking at Kaede, he felt the lost of Kokichi's presences
He turns he's head to Kokichi's locker, but he's few was looking at Kokichi's back
‘Brighter than a blue sky
She's got you mesmerized’
He reaches for him with he's hand, but he was to far to reach, the lost of he's presence made Shuichi felt the loneliness
It felt like he was drowning, while dieing at the same time...
‘While I die’
Shuichi was now on the roof top with his thoughts, all alone-
He felt empty...
While he wasn't around I feel empty, sad, and lonely... Even when I'm with Kaede it's still feels like I forgot to tell him something, Shuichi thought
He started to whisper a song through he's mouth
“Why would you ever kiss me?
I'm not even half as pretty
I gave you my sweater
It's just polyester
But i like you better...
Wish I were Heather”
A few days later, everything has become distance, they haven't talked for awhile
They felt the loneliness inside, they we're distance but they wished to stay close
‘Wish I were Heather
(Oh, oh)
Wish I were Heather’
A few days later Kaede confessed to Shuichi, but Shuichi turned him down
“i'm sorry Akamatsu-san...”
Kaede was quiet for awhile until a question pop's out
“is it because... You like someone else?”
Shuichi slowly nods answering her question, Kaede smiled at this even though it was a sad smile knowing it wasn't her but she still smiled just for Shuichi with tears in her eyes
“Go get him than..!”
Shuichi looked at Kaede one last time, and after that he smiled at her saying her final words after the confession
“Thank you..."
Shuichi turns around to go find the one he loves, while he was doing that Kaede thought to herself
At least he's happy with him... You better take good care of him Ouma-kun, Kaede thought
“Hey... You okay?”
Kaede turns around to see a green haired guy with piercings on his ear, she smiles at him
“yeah.. I'm okay”
“wanna go to the cafe to get a drink?”
Kaede blushed a bit, but she still kept the smile on her face, a warm smile that can warm someone's heart
“yeah... That would be great, Amami-Kun”
While the conversation with Kaede and Rantaro was going on, Shuichi was still searching for him
He was going around they're favorite places they would go to, while he was passing them he remembers the times when they were together
He finally finds him at they're favorite park, a few people are around a few are going home as it seems to be the evening time
He was sitting on the bench under a tree, Kokichi spotted him and so he stands up while still looking at Shuichi
Shuichi comes closer with every step he took, while he was doing that he can hear Kokichi lightly singing as if he was showing his emotions trough it
"Why would you ever kiss me?
I'm not even half as pretty
You gave me your sweater
It's just polyester
But you like her better
Wish I were...”
Before he could finish he's sentence, Shuichi tackles him with a hug, it was warm like he's sweater, he could smell the usual perfume Shuichi would use
He's eyes were wide, but he slowly close his eyes and embrace Shuichi with a hug as well
Title: Warm Like your Sweater (yeah Ik it's bad :v)

masterlist prompt list
pt.1 | p1.2
You awoke to the aroma of delectable foods coming through the cracks of the door. Your eyes fluttered open only to shut after meeting the beam of light peeking through the curtains. You groaned, shuffling under the covers, not wanting to get up.
You heard the door creaking as your brunette boy stuck his head into the open space between the door frame and the door. His eyes focused on you, he saw your figure under the large white blanket. Quietly, he tip-toed over to you and hopped onto your body, eliciting a moan of pain from you.
“Tom,” you moaned.
“Fuck, darling, do that again,” he sighed.
“Stop,” you blushed, “Get off of me. You’re heavy.”
“How rude,” he scoffed, standing back up.
You giggled and took his hand before he hoisted you out of the bed. He dragged you to the dining table, plates neatly displayed at two seats across of each other.
“For you, m’lady,” he pulled out a chair for you.
“Thank you,” you said softly, “Did you do all of this? Just for me?”
“Well, I had some help from Sam, but I did most of the work. Besides, why wouldn’t I do this for you?” He smiled proudly.
“I love you so much,” you gushed, “But we’ve been together for years now. There’s no need to be extra.”
“Anything for my love. Now, less talking and more eating,” he declared as he dug into his plate of food.
The two of you sat in comfortable silence while eating your brunch, only sounds of chewing or the knife cutting your meal occasionally filling the air. You would look across at Tom from time to time. He looked quite nervous about something as you could hear his leg bouncing under the table.
“Anything wrong, Tommy?” You asked, concerned.
He seemed shocked but answered, “No, nothing wrong at all.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course, don’t worry about me. Just enjoy yourself,” he smiled before getting lost in his train of thought once more.
You couldn’t seem to put your finger on what he was so worried about. You tried to think back to the night before, but your memory was foggy. You couldn’t remember much from last night.
“Falling in love with you was the second best thing that happened to me,” he whispered.
“Second? Excuse you?” You tipped your head up to look at the brunette.
“But meeting you was the first,” he finished.
“Ew, you’re so cheesy,” your hand reached up to squish his cheek.
“You love me, though,” he turned his head in attempt to bite your hand.
“Ay! I do love you, but you’re such a div most of the time.”
“Who’s the one who does the dishes, washes the dirty laundry, and cleans the house?”
“Me,” you replied, eyebrows furrowed.
You felt like you were missing something crucial from the conversation. You focused on the conversation, hoping it would help you put the pieces together, but to your dismay, you could only remember getting tired and falling asleep in Tom’s arms. You shrugged it off and finished your meal.
Tom stood from his seat, plates and utensils in his arms, walking towards you.
“Finished?”
“Yes, thank you,” you grabbed your own dishes before he stopped you.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll do it. You go and get ready. I’m taking you out for a stroll somewhere you’ll love and then to dinner,” he took your plates and piled it into his arms.
You watched his back as he left to do the dishes. As much as you loved the boy, he annoyed you by always pushing you away when you offered to help. Rolling your eyes, you did as he instructed.
You walked out of your room, hair neatly curled and wearing a floral square neck sundress. Your white Chelsea boots clicked as you made your way to the kitchen.
“I’m ready, Tommy,” you announced, stepping into the room.
“Perfect, I just finished,” he said, wiping his hands on the washcloth.
He turned around to face you and was rendered speechless. His eyes were wide and tinted with admiration. He blinked, scanning his eyes over your form.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” you teased.
“Let’s get going,” he chuckled, finally moving from his state of awe. “You look gorgeous, by the way,” he whispered in your ear as he wrapped an arm around your waist.
You giggled, blushing as you gently slapped his chest. As you reached the door to your home, you grabbed your round, straw shoulder bag and placed your phone and wallet into it. Tom grabbed the keys to his Audi, starting it up after leaving the house. You sat beside him in the passenger seat, staring at the neighboring homes as you drove by. Soon those homes became cars then trees.
“Where are we?” You asked.
“The Hill Garden and Pergola. You’ll love it.”
He parked the car and the two of you got out of the vehicle. He grasped your hand, leading you to the vast green land. When you entered, you did love it. There were beautiful shades of greens and occasional pops of colors from the flowers. You walked through the structures and into a large space. Pillars surrounded an empty center and supported to gridded roof. Past this area was a round structure with a teal dome ceiling.
“C’mon, Tommy,” you took your boyfriend’s hand, rushing him towards it.
A bright smile lit up your face while Tom looked nervous and frustrated. His eyebrows were furrowed, and his left hand remained in his pocket, grasping an object. In the confined, isolated space, he found this as a perfect opportunity.
“Y/N,” you turned to face him, “We’ve known each other for more than a decade, and we’ve been together for 6 years now.” He got down on one knee, revealing a red leather box with the word Cartier in gold on it. He opened the box, “I can’t imagine my life without you. You’ve been the love of my life ever since we were only teenagers. I want to have children and grow old with you. If you’ll do me the honor, that is.”
Tears filled your eyes, hands cupping your mouth. Your words came out as strange slurs and sobs. You resorted to nodding and stuck your hand out for him to slip on the ring. He stood for his stance and pulled you into a tight hug, spinning you in the air before connecting his lips with yours.
“Thank you so much, love. You’ve no idea how blessed I am to get a girl like you,” he spoke, your foreheads resting against each other.
“No, thank you, Tommy,” you sputtered.
Lost in the moment, you hadn’t noticed the small crowd that filled the area. They had started clapping and whistling, catching your attention. You laughed and smiled, waving at them. As the two of you exited the structure, many people congratulated you. A group of girls hid on the side, crying and whining in jealousy. They glared at you as you walked by, but you weren’t fazed by it, too consumed in the proposal.
Tom drove back to town, valeting the car as you arrived at the building. He led you into the it and up an elevator to 31st floor. The metallic doors opened, displaying the restaurant Aqua Shard. Remembering the familiarity of the restaurant, you realized it was rather expensive, in your opinion.
“No, I couldn’t,” you tugged on your fiancé’s arm.
“Yes, you can. Besides, I already have a reservation,” he objected.
“Fine but you can’t make me waste your money,” you snapped.
“You’re not wasting any of my money. You’re worth it, all of it,” he leaned down, gently kissing you.
The waitress behind the pedestal brought you to your seats. You had a perfect view of River Thames and Tower Bridge. You were also able to watch the the burst of pink and orange fill the sky as the sun set.
You ordered the most affordable dishes they had. You’d gotten pearl barley risotto, which surprisingly was able to fill your stomach. Tom offered to get dessert but you denied. Obviously, he thought you were acting obnoxiously and bought it anyway.
“Ugh, I’m so full but it looks so good,” you groaned.
“It’s for you, darling. Dig in,” he pushed the dish towards you.
“You’re trying to stuff me,” you argued but tasted the chocolate and toffee tart. “Fuck, it’s good,” you moaned as you took another bite of it.
“I told you,” he smirked, receiving a roll of your eyes.
Tom drove back home with an overstuffed you. You felt sick from all the food that was contained in your stomach. You complained to him multiple times on your ride back. He only laughed at you and ignored your complaints.
You stepped out of the car, stretching with a sigh. You were able to digest most of the food on the long drive. Tom unlocked the door, and you rushed in to the warmth. On the counter, there were a dozen of roses with a small note attached to it: Happy Valentine’s Day! Love, Tom
Then, the events from the night before came rushing back into your mind.
“That’s true, but who works their arse off to impress you and make you feel loved? Who bought you a dozen of roses and a promise ring to show their dedication?” He teased, poking at your sides.
“Oh my god! How did I forget?” You groaned.
Tom looked at you, confused, “What?”
“You told me about your gifts last night, but this morning, I forgot about it completely,” you face-palmed.
“Really? I thought you remembered, that’s why I was so stressed,” he explained.
“Well, I didn’t so it was a nice surprise,” you walked over to him and wrapped your arms around him.
“I’m glad you liked it,” he pulled you into a passionate kiss.
He pushed you against the wall, hips rubbing against each other. Your legs were wrapped around his waist, and your hands were combing through his curls. His hands reached down to grab your ass. He squeezed it, gaining a moan from you.
He pulled away and breathlessly said, “Let’s take this to the bedroom.”
You didn’t need to reply, he was already making his way to your shared room. He slammed the door locked behind him.
Surely the next morning, you would be sore, but that’s to care for later. For now, you’d enjoy it. The night was restless. There was no silence in the house all night

Another Stray Kid
The Villain Month prompt is “rescue,” but it doesn’t have much of a focus on villains so I won’t be tagging it for the event. Still a part of my Villain!Izuku AU. Content warning for references to kidnapping. BTW, if you ever see something that i should tag and haven’t tagged, feel free to call me out on it so I can improve.
Read also on FF and AO3
Kota may hate heroes, but he hates these villains even more. He hated Shigaraki, that crusty bastard who locked him up in a lonely house and only took him anywhere to basically parade around his little league. He hated Mr. Compress, who would turn him into a ball when he acted out. He hated the Nomus, with their blank stares and lack of agency.
But most of all, he hated Muscular, the villain who’d not only killed his parents, but had dragged him to these villains when that hero-wannabe summer camp was attacked. If Muscular wasn’t around, not only would his parents still be alive, but he wouldn’t be stuck in this house filled with villains.
Kota was lonely and scared. He never thought he’d miss Aunt Shino, but he’d happily go back with the Wild Wild Pussycats to get out of this place.
Soon after Muscular had dragged him through a dark portal, that creep Shigaraki -- the supposed leader of this group -- took Kota to a new house and locked him in. Shigaraki kept trying to tell Kota it was “his home now” and that he should consider Shigaraki his “new big brother.” Like he had some obsession with playing family.
As if Kota would be siblings with that creep.
They left Kota alone for most of the day, which was a small blessing. Still, they left him in that creepy house with nothing to do. There were a ridiculous number of video games around, but Kota had never been interested in those. He didn’t have his phone, and the only computer he could find was locked with a password. The only things he could find that were remotely interesting were the books in his room.
It was clear that someone else had stayed in the room they’d dumped Kota in. There was a decent collection of boys clothes ranging from childish play clothes to formal suits. There were several sizes with the smallest tucked away in boxes in the back of the closet, so someone had stayed here long enough to grow out of old clothes. The stuff in the bottom box fit Kota, but were a little loose.
Kota tried not to wonder what had happened to the last person who stayed in this room.
Whoever that person was, they had to be smart. Some of the book were at a very high grade level, and even the ones Koda could read had a more advanced vocabulary. There were a few textbooks, including a college-level math book. Kota didn’t even try to look at that one; math had never been his favorite subject.
The most interesting things he found were the notebooks. There were over a dozen of them, numbered starting with #5. They consisted of quirk analysis, mostly of notable heroes and villains. It covered their abilities, strengths, weaknesses, typical operations, areas of influence, and potential countermeasures. A few even had a short history section or psychological analysis. The sections on Shigaraki, Kurogiri, and some person called “All For One” were the most detailed and were included in every notebook, sometimes with new information added.
Reading those sections were really useful. Kota now knew that Kurogiri was responsible for all the quick travel, and although he wouldn’t do anything against the league’s interest he could be reasoned with. Shigaraki was a massive video game nerd, which at least explained all the games in the house and why he kept calling Kota “player 2.” The information on his quirk was scary, but did explain why he was always grabbing things with his pinky raised.
In notebook number 8, Kota found a section on the hero duo Water Hose. He didn’t dare try to read it, instead turning the page to a section on Moonfish. He did the same when he ran across the Wild Wild Pussycat’s section.
After nearly 2 months in the house with nothing else to do, Kota was almost through with the last notebook. He knew way more information on heroes than he cared to, but he also knew more about the villains. Most of the coutermesures described in the notebook weren’t practical (sticking a pen between Shigarki’s fingers, really?) but he was able to analyze his situation a lot better. Maybe he’d find an opportunity to escape one of these days.
Shigaraki banged open the door to Kota’s room. “Hey kid, you ready to go?”
Kota glared at Shigaraki. He may understand the villain better now, but that didn’t change the fact that Kota hated his guts. “Where are we going?”
Shigaraki scratched his neck. The notebook author had noticed this as well, and explained it meant he was feeling a strong emotion, usually anger. “I’ve got a meeting with a rival and potential ally.”
“Why are you taking me then?” Kota couldn’t find a pattern to when Shigaraki took him out. It wasn’t very often, but when he did take Kota out it was like he was parading a prized pet.
“Don’t question me,” Shigaraki said. “Kurogiri is waiting for us in the living room.”
Knowing it was pointless to argue further, Kota just grabbed the notebook he was reading and followed Shigaraki.
Kurogiri was waiting for them. The portal opened into a park Kota didn’t recognize. He could see the roof of buildings less than a kilometer away, so they were still in a city.
Seeing all the nature around him made Kota miss Aunt Shino’s mountain lodge, but he pushed that thought away.
Mr. Compress walked up to Shigaraki. “You really think he’ll come?”
“Yes,” Shigarki said. “Izuku may be going through a rebellious stage, but he’s my brother. Even when I’d yell at him and disintegrate his stuff, he’d always come crawling back to make up in time.”
Izuku? Kota wondered. If he’s Shigaraki’s brother, could he be the one who used to stay in my room and wrote those notebooks?
Kurogiri materialized behind Shigaraki. “I hope you two are able to make up. You’re stronger together than either of you are apart.”
Shigaraki scowled. “I’m not the one who left, you know.”
“True, but you have to be the one to invite him back,” Kurogiri said.
This was shocking. Kurogiri is actually giving Shigaraki instructions? Kota had thought the warp villain deferred to Shigaraki in everything.
Mr. Compress held up his hand. “Wait. I can hear something.”
There was a rustle coming from the bushes on the other side of the park. Three figures broke out of the darkness and walked towards Shigaraki and the others. Kota couldn’t make out many of these people's details, but he could infer some things from their outlines. The one on the left was wearing a hood and had his hands in his pockets. The one on the right was a girl with short hair and something bulky attached to each leg. The one in the middle was plain-looking, but since he was leading the group he was probably the most powerful.
“Izuku,” Shigaraki said.
The trio stopped a short distance from Shigaraki. “Tomura,” the one in the middle -- Izuku? -- replied.
Shigaraki scratched his neck again. “I suppose congratulations are in order. For humiliating Endeavour, the current #1 hero. It wasn’t as impressive as Sensei’s fight with All Might, but still had a massive effect on the heroes.”
Izuku shrugged. “It’s not that hard if you just take the time to plan.”
Shigaraki’s scratching increased in intensity. “I want you back, Izuku.”
“I’m sorry, what was that?”
“I want you to come back to the League of Villains,” Shigaraki said with gritted teeth.
Izuku didn’t say anything for a while. “Why should I?”
“What?”
“Why should I come back? I’ve got a pretty good thing going. I’ve got my own group and we’ve already made a name for ourselves without relying on Sensei.”
Shigaraki grit his teeth. “You know we’re stronger together.”
Izuku laughed. “Let me guess, Kurogiri told you to say that? Or are you just parroting something you heard from Sensei years ago?”
Kota couldn’t help himself, he broke out laughing. He’d been so terrified of Shigaraki, but this guys was just dragging him through the mud!
Izuku shifted slightly. “Who’s the kid?”
“Hm? Oh, this is Kota,” Shigaraki explained. “I picked him up a while back. With you gone, I needed a new player 2, you know? I figured he’s so young, I could just raise him the same way Sensei raised the two of us.”
Kota really didn’t like the sound of that. He still didn’t understand what Shigaraki needed a player 2 for, but he didn’t want to be “raised” by this villain.
The hooded figure on the left leaned over to Izuku and whispered something in his ear. Izuku shifted again and motioned to his allies.
“You really don’t understand me at all, do you Tomura-nii?” Izuku said. “I hated staying with Sensei. The only reason I didn’t leave was because I had no choice. The only reason I tried so hard to please him was because I wanted my own quirk. The only reason I got along with you was because I sympathized with you.”
“You brat!” Tomura yelled.
“I may be a brat, but at least I’m a brat with a purpose. Which is more than I can say for you.” Izuku walked forward, but passed right by Shigaraki. He stopped in front of Kota. “Hey there, Kota, is it?”
Kota looked up. The dark still masked the majority of Izuku’s features, but green eyes pierced through the shadows. An encouraging smile was barely visible in such low light, but Kota could still make it out.
“Do you want to be here?” Izuku asked.
Kota shook his head. “No way! I hate them! I’m only here because that bastard Muscular grabbed me and Shigaraki has been keeping me locked up in his house!”
“You- You ungrateful little... “ Shigaraki raged.
“I understand, Kota.” Izuku kneeled down so he was eye-level with Kota. He leaned in and whispered, “Would you like me to get you away from them?”
Kota didn’t even stop to consider the possibilities. He just nodded. Wetness clouded his already limited vision, though Kota couldn’t figure out why he could be crying.
“I’m sorry Tomura, but I won’t be returning to the league with you,” Izuku said, not taking his eyes off Kota. “I have my own teammates relying on me, and I won’t force them to join with you. Not to mention, you and I just have completely different values. You want to destroy the world, but I want it to be rebuilt as a better place.” Slowly, Izuku inched his right hand down to fiddle with something on his thigh. “Plus, I’m not interested in in kidnapping kids, only in helping them get out of bad situations.”
Izuku turned around, pulled a gun out, and shot Mr. Compress in the thigh. As Compress fell, Izuku wrapped his free hand around Kota’s waist and picked him up.
“Elemental, subdue with right only. Comet, pickup with payload.” Izuku shouted, spinning around.
Shigaraki ran at Izuku and Kota, his hand outstretched to attack. “Don’t you dare!”
Suddenly, a wall of ice spread across the ground, trapping Shigaraki, Mr. Compress, and Kurogiri. Compress was only able to struggle weakly, but Shigaraki touched the ice and started disintegrating it with his quirk.
Before Kota could worry what would happen when Shigaraki broke out, the girl that came with Izuku flew -- as in, actually flew in the air -- towards him. Something slapped Kota’s head, and a few seconds later he was moving faster than he thought possible without a vehicle. The wind was harsh on his face, so he buried it in Izuku’s chest and focused on getting his breathing under control.
About a minute later, Izuku spoke over the wind. “This should be far enough, Uraraka. Set us down.”
The wind and speed bot stopped. Izuku loosened his grip on Kota, allowing the boy to drop on scratchy turf grass. They’d landed in a soccer field. Kota realized he felt a lot heavier than he did while flying.
The girl was standing a few feet away. “I’m proud of you, you know.”
Izuku raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean Uraraka?”
“You didn’t give into Shigaraki. You stood your ground and told him how you really feel.” The girl -- Uraraka -- explained.
“That isn’t much in the grand scheme of things.”
“Maybe, but the Izuku I met a year ago would’ve given into Tomura’s demands. I like this Izuku better. He stands up for himself and what he wants.”
Izuku was silent for a while. “I just didn’t want another kid to get trapped in this life like I was.”
“Still, it’s impressive, considering how much of a pushover you used to be.”
Someone new walked up to Izuku and Uraraka. It was the hooded guy, the third member of Izuku’s group. “I left them encased in thick ice, especially the warp villain. He’s got an airhole, but Shigaraki is going to have to destroy ice a meter thick to get him out.”
“Good. That should keep him busy long enough for us to figure out what to do next.” Izuku turned to Kota. “We can take you to a police station or hero agency around here. They should be able to get you to your family.”
Kota didn’t like the sound of that. “Don’t do that! The heroes won’t be able to protect me from Shigaraki or Muscular. They weren’t able to do so the first time.”
Izuku looked confused. “Don’t you want to be with your family again?”
“Mom and Dad are dead. They were heroes, and Muscular killed them. The only family I have is Aunt Shino, but she’s a stupid hero too. When the League came, she and all the other pros where to concerned protecting the wannabe heroes that they didn’t notice when I disappeared!”
All three of the others stared at Kota in shock.
Tears were clouding Kota’s vision again. He wiped them away. “I hate heroes, and quirks too. Everyone is just fighting and killing each other for no reason. I hate those league jerks ‘cause Muscular killed my parents and Shigaraki tried to kidnap me. Nobody came for me, nobody saved me, except for you guys. Please, don’t make me go back to the heroes!”
The hooded guy pushed back his hood, revealing hair that was half red, half white. “Well, Mandalay did say he has hated heroes ever since his parents died.”
Kota stared at him. “Wait, weren’t you one of those hero wannabes at the camp?”
Shoto Todoroki smirked. “Let’s just say i had a change of heart.”
“You know, a kid that hates heroes would fit in well with a group of villains,” Uraraka said.
Izuku, however, continued to frown. “Dabi will get on my case if I bring home another stray kid.”
“I’ll handle Dabi. He listens to me,” Shoto said. “Besides, I’m pretty sure he only does stuff like that to play devil’s advocate.”
Izuku sighed. “Fine! You guys win. Kota, would you like to stay with us?”
Kota wanted to jump for joy. “Yes! Yes, please, take me with you! You’re the first people I’ve met who understand me.”
Izuku smiled. “Well, come along then. It’s a bit of a walk to the house from here. Oh, just so you’re aware, we’re also taking care of a girl your age named Eri. I’m sure you’ll get along…”
And so, Kota followed behind his rescuers, some of the first people he’d met that he didn’t have a reason to hate.

SPOP Pride Exchange
@sconefacedgirl @spop-pride-exchange
Hello!!! I made a fanfic for you for the exchange! Sorry it doesn’t fit into all of your genres that you wanted it to be. I tried my best and it was a bit rushed. I hope you enjoy it anyway!! (BTW if I posted this a day early, it’s mostly because I live in Australia and we probably have different timezones)
ROADTRIP/RUNAWAY AU
The morning sun shone brightly over the horizon and greeted the hills with a warm smile. It was exactly 23 days since Adora and Catra left the town for a sort of cheesy “find-our-passion-and-explore-the-country” roadtrip. Mainly it was because the townspeople were too aggressive on the two girls’ relationship. It’s too long a tale to tell, but they escaped with each other. And that’s what matters to them.
Adora looked over at the sleeping girl next to her. They slept in the car at a small tourist stop which was just a lookout over the mountains. It was a bit cold, but they held out fine. “Good morning, Catra.” Was all Adora’s sleepy voice managed to whisper. Catra rolled over as she started to wake up. “Ugh...It’s too early...can’t we just stay here?”
Adora sighed, both in awe at her girlfriend but also because she was fed up with her oversleeping. “The only reason why you’re so tired is because you had too many beers last night.” The blonde girl sat up on the folded over carseat. She rubbed her eyes slightly. “Only...like...four.” Catra yawned and stretched. “Pfft...alright. So care to explain why there’s literally 10 cans on the floor?” Adora teased.
Catra rolled over and tried to pull the warm blanket over her face. Catra groaned as Adora pulled the blanket down before she could fully cover her head and hair. “Don’t you dare fall asleep on me.” Adora kissed her head and pulled the blanket fully down. “Alright, alright. I’m gettin’ up.” Catra groaned again, followed by a small yawn.
“We’re almost out of gas, we need to find somewhere we can fill up. As well as breakfast.” Adora peered over at the steering wheel and slipped into her black leggings. “I heard there was a station nearby.” Catra rummeled through her clothes and found a maroon hoodie. “Good, I’m starving.”
-------
Adora was at the wheel, whilst Catra was frustratingly changing radio stations. Half were talk shows and the other were dumb, overrated music. She finally settled on Lua by Bright Eyes. It was peaceful, and Adora hummed to the lyrics. The road was stretched out, completely surrounded by trees as tall as giants. The lush green branches were waving slightly as the breeze gently shook them.
“I thought you said the station would be at least ten minutes away.” Catra pouted as she brushed her long brown hair. “It’s almost been ten minutes now, we’re gonna approach it soon.” The blue-eyed girl reminded the impatient doll next to her. Catra sighed and looked over at Adora. She was beautiful.
“Are we...ever going back to the town?” Catra asked. It felt like a lifetime ago when they sped off into the sunset just to escape the stupid, homophobic, fundamental Christian town...buncha bastards. “Catra...you know we can’t.” Adora sighed, even if that question annoyed her she kept her focus on the road despite two cars passing every five minutes. “We just can’t go back.”
Adora reflects what happened before they left. Bunch of fights, arguments, other bullshit. The blonde hates looking back. They made that decision to leave for good, no matter how hard life on the road was. Catra’s face fell slightly. “Sorry, did I make you mad?” Adora looks at Catra’s freckled cheeks and heterochromia eyes. “Not at all, sweetheart.”
They finally pull up at a service station. It looked pretty basic, there were some park benches outside, meaning they sell actual food, not just junk. A sigh of relief escaped Adora’s peach-coloured mouth. “Here we are.” Catra almost dozed off completely, everything was so quiet and peaceful. The car shook on the asphalt as Adora pulled into a stand and got out of the car to fill up.
Catra was worried about money more than Adora was. Did they have enough money for a full tank? For food? For motels to stay in? It was just too stressful for the cat-like teen. She wanted to keep both of them alive. No matter what. It feels like every drop of gas, every crumb of any food and one sip of water would cost too much for them.
The brown-haired girl got out of the car and headed towards the service station entrance. Adora saw this and one of her eyebrows lifted. “Uh, wildcat? Where ya goin’?” she asked. “Just going to look at what goods they got. Be right back.” Catra replied. Adora shrugged and got her wallet out from her red backpack. She rummaged through each pocket to find at least 2 fifty dollar bills.
Adora walked into the store and found Catra looking over at some snacks on the small aisles. She was very focused on the prices, Adora could tell. The blonde went to the counter to greet an old lady who was working at the counter. She seemed like the generic “sweet old lady” type, someone who was approachable. The lady noticed Adora and gave her a sweet smile.
“Filling up, dear?” she asked, her voice slightly croaky. Adora nodded and gave her two fifty dollar notes. “Are you on a road trip? Seems like it. You look very tired.” the lady continued, taking the money and putting it in the cash register. She gave the blonde some change, around 5 bucks. “Take as much as you need. I won’t charge you if need extra.” Adora looked up at her in slight shock. “A-are you sure?” Adora asked.
“Of course. I’m happy to help the travellers who I can tell have been on the road for a bit.” the old lady smiled sweetly. Adora thanked her. “Can we get some food as well?” The old lady looked back at her and glanced over at Catra who was still focused on the snacks and food in one of the aisles.
She glanced back at Adora. “Of course. Free of charge. Just five items though.” The lady said. Adora thanked her once again and went to spoke with Catra. Before she could open her mouth, Catra interrupted. “I heard the whole thing. I decided. Two iced coffees and a packet of chips as well as two custard buns.” Adora frowned a little bit. “Shouldn’t we get something that will last a bit longer?” she said. Catra just shrugged and said, “We can always find a shop or something. Maybe there’s a town nearby.” Adora sighed and paid for the items.
-----
It was nighttime now. Too dark to see anything. The two girls were perched on top of the car, looking at the clear, starry sky above. It was like they were the only two people left on the earth. The moon shone and gave the night its life and being.
“If we came back home, what do you think the town would say?” Adora asked the brunette. Catra glanced over at her, and back to the sky. Her arms were rested behind her head, supported by the car roof. “I don’t know.” She replied, “One thing I know, is that the friends we have...had...would probably just pretend they never knew us.”
Adora shook her head at this remark. “If that’s so, then why did you ask me if we could ever go back today?” Catra tried to ignore the question. She knows that Adora would think it’s stupid. Catra groaned. “Maybe it’s because I just miss home, you know?” Catra snapped.
“Maybe it’s because my family is there. It’s because the town is where I grew up. It’s my home, Adora. And we left because you decided it would be better for us.” Catra continued. Adora’s eyes widened. “Are you blaming me?” The brunette looked over at Adora. “I just wish we never left, okay? I wish we never decided that this was going to be an okay thing to do. Now we’re stuck in the middle of no-”
“Catra, I didn’t want those people to hurt us. If they found out about us, about how we’re together, then they’d send us to some shitty camp where we would never see each other again so that they could force us to be in a shitty relationship with some snot-nosed jock.” Adora ranted.
Catra sat up and looked down at her hands. She sobbed. Adora put her arm around Catra’s shoulders, pulling her closer to her body. “I realised something.” Catra said through tears. “We don’t need to go back. We don’t need to go back home.” Adora looked at Catra’s glistening eyes and listened. “It isn’t even our home anymore.”
The blonde was staring at her lips, yearning for her soft mouth to touch her own. Adora took Catra’s chin and turned it to face her. She kissed the cat-like girl, taking in her breath and keeping her even closer. Catra closed her eyes and kissed back, breathing heavily. Adora parted from her lips and whispered. “Catra, you are my home. Everywhere is home when I’m with you.” Adora gazed into Catra’s eyes and pulled her even closer.
“I belong here. With you.”

Life in Queensland
27th August, 2019
No one has asked what’s it’s like living in the sunshine state, but I’ll tell you anyway.
Life’s good here, it’s simpler, and as it should be.
Major difference is the ease of getting around by car/bike. No traffic lights keep traffic flowing and once your use to roundabout efficiencies no one gets held up except those that don’t understand the rules, the etiquette or are procrastinators.
No multi level car parks to lose your car in or get held up by a senior trying to work out how to back into a space, or big family with multi kids loading the once a month food shopping of fizzy drinks, pet food and cheese twisties.
Lots of marked motorcycle parking in prime spots is a bonus (for us).
No queues is another bonus, except for gelato on a weekend arvo. When you go to the motor registry, which we have had too on numerous occasions to sort licences and regos, the following happens. You walk into a near deserted customer area and head to the ticket machine. You’ll notice the 4-5 counter staff have eyes fixed on your hand. As you select your required service and the little paper ticket starts to emerge from the kiosk there is movement at the counters as the staff try to get your customer number to light up their counter before each other. It’s a bit like a quiz show. As your checking your number a loud speaker is already calling that number.
All shop staff (except cafes) greet you with ‘want you want luv’ and ‘thanks darl’ as a closer.
Heaps of cafes with good coffee and environs, craft brewers are also springing up everywhere with big budget establishments which are nice to dissect their architectural and detailed construction.
No aeroplanes in the sky, which I miss, but lots of noisy helicopters for some reason, maybe tourist joy flights.
Wed, Sat and Sunday markets are a nice outing for either a stroll, or provisioning. Eumundi markets are very busy and expensive, (even Manabu’s - x CiSRA QA engineer’s Açai) Noosa market is expensive but very high quality and mainly locals, while Yandina market is herbal, bit Scotland Is. like, but good cheap fresh vegetables and interesting second hand tools. Noosa market has apparently the world’s best Portuguese Custard Tarts, but as I’m yet to experience them to date.
We are slowerly getting use to water efficiency, being mindful our tank isn’t bottomless. A washing load uses 50 litres a cycle, 2x showers and there’s another 50 litres even when turning water off to soap up! We are now using the ‘grey’ water to water the new trees and shrubs we have planted rather than using the tank water. I’ll try to jerry rig some roofing to collect ‘free’ rain water but don’t want to over do the squatter development we are creating.
A day now consists of working in the morning till about 12/1 then to the beach on bike for a swim and picnic lunch, then back to work at 2:30/3 till dark. Bit hot in direct sun around lunchtime, but beautiful in the shade. Hope summer is not a killer, but probably will be. Might have to hang at at the freezer section at Woolies during the hot days.
I’ve also discovered 7eleven $1 coffee is on par with a good $4.50 cup, except for the crema. A trip to Bunnings in the morning or arvo includes a $1 coffee stop. I kid you not it’s acceptable (the quality). I buy ground coffee for home at Padres at Noosaville, settling on one blend after trying a few. It’s a cool place with nice but pretty coffee serious staff.
The best cake/bread shop is actually at a Shell garage at Noosaville too. You have to be told, you’d never discover it unless getting petrol. Just awesome French style stuff with lots of choices and they are constantly baking.
Paddler Andy Ross, another refugee from Sydney, has started a TT on the Noosa river on Sunday mornings so that’s now part of the weekly timetable, as is a training session on Friday mornings run by the local kayak shop. Nice bunch, glorious weather, champagne water.
The hinterland provides miles of great roads, cooler weather and cute little villages for stops. Too many craftie shops for my liking but that’s ok, old people have to have something to enjoy. A ride or drive up the hinterland is nice to have a break from digging.
Can’t find any boxing classes unless you pay $20 + for a session, Matt’s classes st North Ryde were a bargain, and hundreds of yoga classes if that’s your (not my) thing.
The beach. Noosa main beach is beautiful as you know. Minimal surf unless the swell is running which makes for a very pleasant cool off. Hastings Street is fabulous too. Just like being in some swish Melbourne Street but right on the ocean. If you holiday in Noosa I’d recommend paying a bit extra and staying on Hastings, it’s worth it by a mile. Forget the car just walk, eat and swim. Staying anywhere else in the area is hardly worth coming for.
Been very dry since we moved. The creek has stopped flowing over the little weir. Grass still nice and green except where I have driven the tractor over it infinite times, turning it to bull dust. Suppose to rain this week which will be interesting to see if we survive the camp out in a wet spell :).
Haven’t seen a snake yet, but I’m told it’s just a matter of time. I walk around like I’m in a mine field. We have jumping ants as we have mentioned which we are gradually eliminating. We also have a ‘cheese tree’ (look it up), which should be called a pumpkin tree, which has the unfortunate attribute of housing those seething balls of catapillars. Bit creepy, especially for Tokyo girls. We have BBQ’d two lots to date. Apparently coming into skin contact with them is not a recommended experience.
Anyway back to work. Digging the driveway at present. Want to get it done so the Port-a-loo lorry can get to down to our loo without having to go thru the neighbours. Everyone needs a goal :).
Btw we now have a lounge available in the annex for one overnight visitor. Who will be first?

Happy New Year Everyone! You may wonder why I’m still in Christmas world if it’s 2019 – but there are still 6 days left of the 12 Days of Christmas, so I will try to cram the rest of my DVR – and let’s not forget A Christmas Prince 2 – Royal Wedding – before Twelfth Night. That being said, here we go with Christmas Wonderland – something I know nothing about other than it starts in NYC with a very wintry scene of Washington Square Park.
Our heroine, Emily Osment, plays Heidi, and she works at a gallery, with a Sassy Assistant who carries her coffee for her, and a boss who relies on her a lot. Heidi is also an artist, but her painting skills are not being used enough in the high stakes world of gallery running.
We cut to a small town high school class, with a dreamy history teacher who is also a hockey coach, and has a troubled student named Tom, who is troubled about something. Dreamy Teacher is also BFFs with the Vice Principal of the high school, and BFF guilts Dreamy Teacher into planning the Snowball Dance. I think high school dances in tv are just a lot more than the dances when I was in high school.
Troubled kid Tom has a nice home, with a sister, and parents who are realtors who just got asked to be speakers at a realtor convention – which means parents have to leave tomorrow! So mom is Heidi’s sister, and Heidi’s sister really wants Heidi to come home for 2 days to babysit. Heidi’s boss is very anti Heidi leaving, but Heidi promises to work from home, and be back in time for the office Christmas party, and oh my goodness, is this almost the same plot as Christmas Joy?
Home is Pleasant Valley, PA, and it’s way too snowy there for all this talk of global warming. Heidi takes a car home, and en route to her sister’s, she sees Dreamy Teacher on Main Street and ducks down in the back seat, so you know there’s history there. Heidi’s sister also sneaks in that Heidi also has to help with the Snowball Dance while she’s there, and that is above-and-beyond for 2 days of babysitting, so I call shenanigans on Heidi’s sister. Also, there is drama between Dreamy Teacher – named Chris Shephard – and Heidi and Heidi’s brother-in-law is right to be concerned about going down that memory lane, but Heidi’s sister poo-poo’s this concern and they leave Heidi alone in a very nice open concept home.
Heidi’s sister left recipes and food in the house but Heidi orders pizza. Yaaaaas, girl. But then Heidi heads to the PTA meeting, and Heidi meets up with Chris in the gym! Backstory here is that they dated in high school, and I’m thinking they broke up because he wanted to stay home in PA and she wanted to go to NYC and be an artiste – so he is suitably distressed when she admits that she doesn’t really paint anymore. BTW she is wearing horrendous shoes. But their shared upset at each other outweighs the need to fix the gym up for a dance, and Heidi leaves in a huff.
Next morning, kids are saying that their parents usually make them eggs and bacon and pancakes for breakfast before school, but I’m sorry, unless this is 1974 and their house is the Brady Bunch, no one really does that anymore, right? How else would General Mills and Kelloggs still corner the market on breakfast cereal? Anyway, Heidi says whatever, eat your generic cereal and then has to placate her freaking out boss over the phone – seems no one else can do anything at that gallery except Heidi.
A Chekov gun moment earlier about the broken dishwasher is going to bite Heidi in the ass as she turned the dishwasher on before she took the kids to school. And for some reason, I guess for a bigger reveal on the travesty of the dishwasher all over the Pergo flooring, Heidi heads to a diner to work on her laptop despite the fact that I’m pretty sure sister’s house has WiFi. But then we get Heidi meeting her old friend Erica, who is married to the BFF Vice Principal. We also hear that Chris had a book published on Mark Twain, so who’s looking good to Heidi now, hmmm? He looks so good to Heidi that she shows back up at the gym to help out – and the roof of the gym is leaking. Which matches the little lake that is awaiting them in their kitchen when the kids come back home from school.
Aunt Heidi is nice and encouraging to her 15 year old nephew – telling him to go after the girl he likes, but in a nice, non-threatening way. Then she is so overcome with nostalgia and art love that she gets all her painting supplies out of her sister’s closet, which are conveniently clearly labeled for her use – but before she can paint one stroke, she gets interrupted by a text from her boss. And wouldn’t you know it, her sister and brother-in-law can’t come home because of some kind of computer glitch, and Heidi has to bake cookies for her niece’s cookie sale and Heidi is useless in the kitchen, as seen by her very soupy sugar cookie mix. How do you do that????
Niece has a solo in an upcoming Christmas Pageant, and niece is freaking out about it, but in that secretive way of kids, she won’t tell anyone why she’s upset. When Heidi drops Tom off at the high school, she wanders into the gym to see the damage from the leaky roof – and no one stops her or asks her for ID or makes her get a visitor’s badge, so you know this high school exists in FantasyLand. Gym is off limits for a dance, and all the old decorations are ruined, but BFF Vice Principal gallantly assumes that Chris and Heidi will just work together to plan a new dance at a location to be named later. But Heidi has a life in NYC, BFF VP! Why can’t he figure this out – he’s the freaking VP. Anyway, Heidi and Chris agree to meet up later to brainstorm.
Heidi’s boss is not understanding about airport glitches, and totally depends on Heidi and is super annoyed that Heidi is not back at work. But Heidi is inspired to sketch while sitting on a bench in the middle of town. Then Heidi and Chris brainstorm about locations – they find one in a hotel a bit of a drive away from town. In a green-screen moment in his truck, they talk about their respective lives – and how they broke up with each other before college. He had wanted to be a hockey player, but he hurt his knee. His dreams were over, but her dreams could still come true – please don’t ever stop painting, Heidi. But maybe Chris should think of other things, like not running out of gas in the middle of nowhere PA where there is no cell service.
They are near a farm called Wonderland Acres, which is where they had their first date, and the nice man who takes them into a barn which is of course the perfect place to hold a dance except for the fact that it clearly has no heat.
Niece comes clean about why she’s upset – she is worried about remembering all the words to her song. And then Chris shows up to fix the broken dishwasher, and he is nicely encouraging to Niece about finding a rhythm for “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing” with a weird modern rendition of it. All this niceness has Heidi looking through her old yearbooks. Nothing in the world will send me back there.
Heidi’s sister still isn’t home. Not sure where the conference is, but they were driving to Atlanta, but there was bad weather there, so they are just driving back to PA, and she was stopped at a rest stop for lunch while Heidi and nephew Tom are eating breakfast. Excuse me but do the laws of time and space dissolve in this movie? They are all on Eastern Standard Time – how is mom eating lunch if son is eating more cereal before school?
Heidi has time to go see Niece rehearse her song – guess she’s not working that hard from home. She also has time to wander nostalgically into her grammar school art room. And again, she has no visitor pass or teacher escort. But this visit to the art room finally brings her back to her easel and canvas – why does her apron have so much paint on it when her hands don’t? I call shenanigans. Her picture is nice but totally looks like one of those paint-by-numbers things that my brother did for my mom one Christmas.
BFF VP is pointing out that Chris is a lot happier lately because Heidi is in town. But Chris says her life is in NYC and we want different things, etc. But it doesn’t stop them from shopping in BFF’s wife’s craft store –
where they sit in tiny chairs to decorate ornaments because they have a ton of time and not a whole barn to decorate and a mural to paint. But we get a nice montage of decorations and they get kiss blocked by Erica at the last moment.
Chris finally gets Heidi to agree to paint a 6 foot mural for decoration because she has nothing better to do. And after she dramatically falls off a tiny ladder she says she’s sorry for breaking up with him the way she did, and then they have a glitter fight, because that’s what you do when you have a heartfelt moment after a fall of a step-stool.
Old Man who owns the barn is a widower, and makes Heidi think that it’s maybe not a bad thing to be with a person who is your soul mate. She also is more inspired to paint again, and doesn’t really feel worried that her job is in jeopardy. She heads to the high school library which is absurdly decorated in garland and Christmas lights to do some research on past Snowball dances for her mural theme, and BFF VP gives her a copy of Chris’s Twain book. I just finished listening to Twain’s Feast – about Mark Twain and all his life and love of food. It was interesting, even if I have a hearty dislike of Twain because he cannot figure out the amazing awesomeness that is Jane Austen. Anyway.
She gets inspired by her old pictures of dancing couples – meanwhile Younger and Older Son are fighting over an outlet and Younger Son just hit Older Son in the nards, and I’m just sitting here observing.
She is an amazingly fast painter. It’s all done in like 2 seconds – or overnight – and it’s weird looking but whatever. We are 30 minutes from the end.
It’s gotten to the point where Heidi is ducking all of her boss’s calls. Oh Heidi, girl, you can kiss your job good-bye. The barn is almost all ready – they get to test out the dance floor but get kiss-blocked by Heidi’s boss – who is calling to tell her that Sassy Assistant took the picture of Heidi’s paint-by-numbers picture and put it on their website and now everyone in art loving New York wants to see more of Heidi’s work.
I HIGHLY DOUBT THIS CONVENIENT COINCIDENCE. And now Heidi’s boss is all about Heidi’s art career, but only if Heidi is back in NYC, and not stuck in her home town. Chris is suitably happy for her and her art, and suitably upset that her life is calling her back to NYC, even if she’ll miss this Snowball dance because of the office Christmas party.
Chris meets up with Heidi and the kids at the diner, and good news all around! Tom gets a date to the dance, and gives Chris the “sometimes you just have to go for it” speech, and then Heidi’s parents have shown up to take over babysitting duty. Next scene is the Christmas pageant, and after all of Niece’s angst about singing, all she had to do is one lousy verse of “Hark, the Herald” so what the hell, screenwriters. And the parents magically make it just as she sings her song, so all is right with the world. Now it’s time for Heidi to get back to NYC.
If we were playing the drinking game with this movie, we’d be emptying the container, because Heidi has the realization that what she thought she wanted – success and life in NYC – isn’t what she really wants – she wants to go to a small town high school dance with her boyfriend from 11 years ago. And I’d like to point out that the bed in her sisters’ guest room is bedecked with garland and Christmas lights at the foot – and that is just dumb.
Before she goes back to NYC, she heads to the barn for a final good-bye with Chris. Older Son is inquiring after the Sad Times – and just look at this face – of course he’s found them!
Heidi’s back in NYC and finally shows up at work – just in time for the Christmas Party, where she hands out gift bags and plays back-up to her boss. And she finally realizes that she’s not going to get ahead in her life in NYC and so she quits in the middle of the party. This is NOT how you quit a job responsibly, Heidi – but if she leaves right now, she can still make the dance.
The barn looks nice. BFF VP tells Chris to try and have fun even if Heidi isn’t there – but how much fun can a teacher chaperone have at a high school dance? Before he can ponder this question, Heidi shows up – in the same dress she wore to the party – so I’m confused how much she had to travel – how far away is Pleasant Valley, PA from NYC? I guess it doesn’t really matter, because they love each other and we’re done.
Emily Osment isn’t a bad actress, and this movie wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t amazingly fabulous either. But hey, it was familiar, and cozy, and warm, just like a Hallmark Christmas movie should be. So there’s that. I watched this one as a New Year’s gift to you – just so you don’t have to.
The Laws of Space and Time Do Not Apply in this movie! All of this, plus painting and small town dances. I watched Christmas Wonderland - just so you don't have to. Happy New Year Everyone! You may wonder why I'm still in Christmas world if it's 2019 - but there are still 6 days left of the 12 Days of Christmas, so I will try to cram the rest of my DVR - and let's not forget…

Day 22 | Visiting Koyasan-Okunoin, Kongobuji and Hojo-in (and night with the giant spiders)
Hey guys! I have 3 more days out of 29 left to describe adventures from my trip in Japan. I would like to continue with Day 22 when I was already in the camp, my fourth day with the campers, and our next locations were several temples and the traditional hotel somewhere in the mountains of Wakayama-prefecture. This includes going to the Okunoin temple which is part of Koyasan area, followed by the lunch and visit to the Memorial Monument of Lions Club, then a buse ride to Kongobuji temple and lastly to Hojo-in temple and the hotel which behaved literally like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Unfortunately I do not believe you will be able to read about this day with plenty of information as I will not have enought time, we visited so many places each with its own story and so many things happened I would have to break it into two posts. However, let me try to keep it short.
Visiting Koyasan-Okunoin
We left our hotel in Osaka after spending a day at the Universal Studios Japan. What it was like you can read and see in three of my reports. After breakfast we left for the temple of Koyasan where the trip lasted for almost 3 hours. What I remember while arriving there is that it is a part of the larger complex with several temples. It was all suggesting we were going to have an awesome time today, especially if you are a fan of the Buddhist temples, rituals and walks through the forest. Unfortunately, it was raining practically the whole day that even extra umbrellas were needed to survive. All of these places are located in Wakama Prefecture maybe just about on the half of the way between Osaka city and Wakayama (a bit closer to Wakayama though).
Okunoin temple (part of the Koyasan area) and the especially the area and the path leading to it are just amazing. I had to have a look at all of my photos and on the internet to remind me and there is just so much to tell you about.
The path that leads to it is maybe half an hour or more long and you are walking among thousands of little temples, shrines and the tombs throught the forest. All in gray and green. Here is where I learned about the red clothes put on the sculptures or columns at the cemetires that actually show that there was a baby or a child that died.
One of such places were several big pyramides of little sculptures and plenty of colorful rags or scarfs put aruond them. For a moment one would have thought to be in some other country as this with the pyramides was strange for me to associate with Japan. While walking through the forest of the very tall trees we end up across several smaller bridges in front of the stairs that climb on a hill.
Behind the enormous dark gates upon the stairs one finds the huge temple, also in dark colours, that was surrounded with so white stone that almost looked like snow!
We entered the temple and what I noticed was the ceiling full of hundreds of little lanterns. We had a priest there who showed us a little bit things around and we came across a book where you could write a message referring to the luck or wishing someone luck. It was not a guestbook of course and I saw that noone really wrote stupid messages there as we use to while visiting some places. Alongside the book were many of amulets or luck artifacts with kanji on it. On some of the wooden sticks even one could write a message but since we knew no Japanese except for few friends most of us did not touch it. There was also a donation box which is quiet normal for all the sacret places in Japan to have. Unfortunately, we were not supposed to take photographs of the interior...
Lunch and the Memorial Monument of Lions Club
We went then back for the lunch at the big restaurant house near the parking lot. There was some other large building close by that might have been a train station. After lunch (and this time meal was difficult for us) we were supposed to visit the Memorial Monument of the Lions Club when it started to rain heavily. We had to bring more umbrellas from the bus to help the others without it. It took us about 10 minutes of walking till we reached this cemetary and the Memorial Monument in the middle of it. We spent there several minutes and commemorated the dead members of the Lions Club. The Japanese cemeteries look a bit different from ours. While we prefer to have the horizontal epitahs with the name and the text written horizontally in Japan the columns are being preferred with the text (signs) written vertically. What I also noticed was that many of these columns had a hole at the top whre one could put a candle. And the top of it then was closed by a little roof that looked like a square or the roof of the temples.
Visiting Kongobu-ji temple
Our next destination was the temple of Kongobuji which is maybe the biggest temple we have been to and covers pretty large area. I remember the white sand aroudn the path after passing the huge gates and then the classic – taking of the shoes and leaving them at the wooden stairs. Walking then through the hallways that were connecting the rooms and halls (maybe everything on some kind of a platform) in the socks until we were asked to sit down in one hall and ... wait for the tea and cookies. That is what I remember more or less.
The last stop today was the hotel and the temple Hojo-in where I do not remember anymore the temple and whether we visited it or not but very much the hotel we stayed at. On our way there we stopped once at Lawson store to get some snacks which turned into a big shopping madness. Mr Toru told us we do not have to spend our own money and bought us everything! I also saw there the „magazines for the adults“ and was laughing. I could not pick inside as all of them are packed in the plastic foils and unless you buy them it is not possible. I did it for the purpose of journalism of course.
Hojo-in hotel
The rain started again as we were leaving with our bags from the bus to this temple. It was night already but the place looked big. Unfortunately no time to go around it even in the morning but the hotel and the temple had an enclosed yard with nice garden and rocks lying around. Oh, I forgot to mention that at all the Japanese temples have rocks lying around the yard but always somehow balanced. I believe they represent something with the energy and energy points forming some balance in the nature and among the architecture.
At the entrance of the house we had to leave the shoes again and put them into the wooden racks on each side of the racks. Then we got the number of the room...or just headed to any room we found. I was in the room with one of my best friends there – Ugur from Turkey. Now the hotel was pretty interesting, the whole compley actually. One half of this huge building had about 3 floors in total with many „hidden“ hallways that were like a labyrinth. There was one space where one could sit on the sofa and even catch wi-fi signal when lucky. We were walking with our smartphones in the air trying to catch the signal like the scene from the Lions King, haha.
The rooms here were of course traditional and the „locals“ (the priests) here were wearing their kimono I think the whole time we spent there. The walls of the rooms were pretty thin and you could hear the others several rooms away so talking here and secrets was not going to pass. There was a wardrobe with the doors that open to the left and right (and the doors of the room too) and had plenty of blankets. We had two mattresses on the floor and also a place to charge our electronics. There were large windows and we closed them both not wanting rain to get it. It proved to be a very smart decision that evening, as you are going to find out.
We had a dinner in a large hall on the first floor (next to the entrance) sitting in severalr ows on our knees on small pillows. I could not take it anymore and chose to sit in what we call in Croatia „sitting like Turk“ posture with both legs crossed. We had now opportunity to eat Vegerian only meal as that was the practice at this temple. It was quiet delicious even without meat (I am a carnivore btw) and we did not feel hungry. Again a bit of everything on the plate. There was one problematic part that was impossible to stay still when using the chopsticks, something white that looked like a pudding, and always fell down in the bowl. It took me 5 minutes before it stopped falling.
We thanked the hosts for dinner and then had country presentations. One had to be careful not to lay with their back on the wall behind because it would get damaged easily. Another potential „danger“ and a problem were the doors to this large room or hall as some of us were much taller and could get hit in the head like Gandalf in Bag End.
We had now about 2 hours of free time before going to sleep and it was not boring indeed. What should I mention first? Let me see...getting lost around the building and discovering large halls in the basement (in the dark!), hunting down and running away from the spiders of a size of a tennis ball, going for the shower for the first time in the „public“ baths with other guys naked...
After roaming around with friends and checking every floor and the floors (and since there were very few other guests besides us it was pretty spooky to go walk around alone) we found those baths and probably the strangest toilets I have ever encountered. There were two doors – one for men and for women...but then instead of having a wall between each other the toilet in the middle (khm, for „the big need“) was shared by both! You could literally pass through the men's restroom into women's just by going through that cabin in the middle, insane! haha There was also a room with sinks where one could shave or brush teeth in peace. I did it, being alone on the whole floor waiting for the monsters to attack me. And right now remembered another toilet non of us did not want to use. The place where you are supposed to sit while peeing or the other thing ... was just a hole in the floor! I was wondering how that was even possible to do without falling on your back and rolling around. And there were sveral holes (or let's say these „sophisticated toielts“ ) in the row meaning you could have been with the others. No privacy, no toilet paper and no toilet bowl. Never iagined that. There was a pretty normal and modern restroom on our floor of course. But that downstairs is like walking through some museum.
Then my roommate and I decided to go in the last 15 minutes before its closing to the shower room as we thought „We are going to have to do this within few days at this Inunakiyama Onsen so maybe try it now when there is not many people around to break the ice.“. So we did there and it was first strange but once you stop caring nothing abnormal. We spent 5 minutes there and one of the campers was also there I believe (but could not recognize him without glasses) who asked us „hey guys, what are you laughing about?“ but he could not understand it from our point of view.
The last thing to mention were the hueg spiders that scared the *thing* out of everyone. You remember me mentioning it was a wise decision to close the windows in our room? Well, the others did not do it.
What happened and how we survived it (and if we did) coming soon.
Plans for the other day
There was an ascetic practice in the morning for the brave ones who wanted to wake up around 6am. I was sleeping. Then we went more to the south to famous Shirahama and spent the day at the Shiraham White beach, were supposed to watch the fireworks and have a karaoke evening in the hotel.
Thanks for reading.
Photo credits go to the Lions Camp Osaka counselors and the campers (Jesse Tucek).

Adventures With Theo - 03-26-2012, 02:27 PM
Hokay! Can you hear me? I'm whimperin real soft like, so no one hears me, 'kuz I'm in this here box, doncha know! Well, you prabebly don't, 'kuz you're not here. But beleeve me, I'm in here! And I don't want the crew Sims to hear me, 'kuz if they do, they might throw me off the spazship, and I can't fly. For real! I tried wunz when I was a little. Kayana told me if I flapped my arms real hard, I would be able to. But, you know what! I think she might have lied to me. 'Kuz I got up on the roof like she said, and ran real, real fast, and flapped for all I was worth, and it still didn't work! Not even a little bit! Busted my arm, I did! In two spots! And boy, was my mom mad at me! Had to go to the hospitible, and get one of them kastor thingies. Which was pretty cool, 'kuz you can rite on 'em and draw piktures and stuff. But anyways, I gotta be real quiet like, so no one hears me. But I wanted to let you know, I made it! How cool is that! And in a kuple hours, I'll be on Loonytic Lakes, for real this time. At least I hope so. 'Kuz like I told you before, this box ain't got no bathroom, and I kinda got to go now. Like rite NOW! And it's kinda hard to cross your legs, when you're all scrunched up inside a box, doncha know. Well, it is! Swhew! Well, the ship finelly landed. I'm not real sure when, 'kuz this box doesn't have a klock or any windoz. So I can't see outside. Witch is one of the reasons I haven't taken any piktures. And it's dark in here too! And I don't have a flash on this kamera. And, to be honest, I might have fallen asleep. 'Kuz it's dark, doncha know! But I can hear some Sims talkin, and they said somethin about goin into town for a beer, after work. So I'm guessin we're on the ground. I mean, I don't think there are any towns out in spaz, just floatin around, but I could be wrong. I think they had that one town in them Star Warz, but that Dartie Wader dude blasted it to smithereens. At least, I think so. I'll have to check that out, the next time I visit one of those hysteria mooseeums. Anyways, now I gotta figyer out how to get out of this here box. I tried to push the lid off, but I think one of them Sims screwed it on real tight like, right before they loaded this box on the ship. At least I think I remember hearin a drill go whirrrr. So, I gotta think real hard for a minute or so. Maybe longer..... Unless you got some idea? Oh! Wait! I think someone is liftin the box! I sure hope they don't stack any boxes on top of this one, 'kuz then I'd really be in trouble. Maybe I should just start makin some noise? But then, I might get arrested again, for sneakin onto this world without a tikit. The crew on my last ship said crews hate tow-aways more than anythin, 'sept those Origin dudes. They hate them the most! Them and their launcher. But, what do you think? Should I maybe make some noise and get rerested, or keep still and hope for the best? I don't know ether.... I tell you true. It's times like these that I wish my sisters were here. Or maybe Annie. 'Kuz they're so smart, doncha know.
Well, while I was debatin what to do, I heard some skratchin on the outside of my box. Then a bark! And next thing I know, the lid came off, and two guys with a funny-lookin dog, were starin down at me. The one guy thought he rekegnized my pikture from some newzpaper he read. But the uther guy kept yammerin somethin about, "I'm telling you, Zenr, she sure doesn't look like any art supplies I've ever seen. And this box is plainly marked, 'Art Supplies'. Do you think someone in packaging made a mistake, Zenr?" So, the green dude with the oranjey-red hair, told his friend, "I'm telling you, Leisr, this is Shelley Cooper, the theoretical physicist, the guys out at the bio-robotics lab have been expecting. The paper said Dr. Cooper was coming here to give a lecture on quantum mechanics and string theory." "But if that's true, why'd she come inside a box marked "Art Supplies,' Zenr? And I thought that scientist's name was Sheldon, not Shelley." "Sheldon, Shelley... you know how those reporters always get everything ass-backwards." "That still doesn't explain the box."' "These science types are all crazy, Leisr. No offense, ma'am. Probably doing some kind of weird experiment. Again, no offense, ma'am."" "I don't know, Zenr. Seems pretty peculiar to me. I say we call the MPs."
Well, I figyered my goose was cooked for sure! ‘Speshelly sinz I didn’t know what the frack they were jabberin about. And I know lots! No lie! Anyways, to stall for some time, whllst I thinked things through a bit, I asked them if I could get my notebook out of the box, 'kuz it's the only thing I own right now. (I didn't tell them that part. Jist that I needed my notes.) And I don't know what I said.... Well I do, 'kuz I jist told you, but all of a sudden the blue guy - Leisure - gets kinda nervous and squirmy. So the green dude asks me, "Notebook? What kind of notebook?" "Nothin speshel. Just some observations that I've been makin." (That's a new word I learnt. I saw one of those "Word A Day" books in the bookstore on that last world I was on, and I wrote it down. Mostly 'kuz I liked the way it sounded. Ob-ser-va-tion! I'm still not too sure what it means. Prabebly somethin to do with a vakation, doncha think! 'Kuz of the 'vation' part.) But it must have been the right thing to say, 'kuz all of a sudden both dudes got real respektable like. The green guy even took my pikture with that gizmo he had hangin from his belt, while the blue guy called someone on his walker-talker. While they were waitin for the guy he had called to anser, I desided, that it would be a good time to ask about a bathroom. 'Kuz I still had to GO!
Anyways, while they were argyooin over where the klosest one was, I desided to jist go look for one on my own. I mean, I had to g-o-o, GO! Luckily, there was one klose by. And after I got done, I desided to just keep on walkin toward the road. I fiyered, if the dog dudes came lookin for me, and asked me why I didn't come back, I'd jist fib a little and tell them I got losted.
Well, wunz I got out by the main road, there was this gardhouz, and I figyered my goose was really cooked this time! (BTW, that's Kayana's faverite sayin, about the goosez. And it's pretty good, doncha think!) Now, where was I....? Oh yeah! The gards! They had guns and everythin! Maybe even some bullets. 'Korz I didn't look down the pointy end of their guns, but I'm guessin they prabebly had some in there. But they jist waved at me, and said, "Welcome to Ankh-Morpork, Dr. Cooper. Here's your planetary visa, and ID. And we've taken the liberty to call for a car for you, to take you over to the science facility. Your driver should be here in about ten minutes." Well, I did not know what to do! I mean I'm pretty smart, and I do know lots of big words, but I'm not sure I could fool a bunch of scienz guys. While I was argyooin with myself about what I should do, the gard had leave to anser the phone. And luckily for me, I saw one of those metro stop buildinz across the road. So, I ran - even though there's that Twoftmama law against it - over to the stop. And it's a good thing I ran, 'kuz it was a lot farther away than I thought, and the car showed up jist as I reached it!
And guess what! That Idea card the gard gave me.... It got me a ride on the metro! How cool is that! All I had to do, was swipe it through this thingamajig and a tikit popped out. Was that lucky or what! So I rode on the metro, 'til that line stopped. When I got back outside, it was near this big dome thing and a stadeeyum. No soldiers in sight! Witch was good, let me tell you. ‘Kuz wanna know a sekrit? Their guns skared me. For real! But there were two guys playin frisbee. So I desided to go ask them where I was. I mean, this plaz is a lot prettier than that last world. It even has some trees, but I didn't see any skwere lakes or yellow ground. And that gard said somethin about, welkomin me to an ant park. Witch doesn't sound much like Loonytic Lakes, do you think? So I walked over there, and waited 'til they were done playin. Then I asked the adult - 'kuz, up close I could tell the one was a little. And even though I like littles, sometimes they aren't as informulated as us adults. No, it's true! I think it's 'kuz their brains are still growin inside their heads, doncha know.
At first he thought I had amneesure. You know, that dihzeez that you get when you bang your head real hard on somethin. But I told him, I had jist urr....urriv...come here from out-there spazes, and I think my crew might've got themselves losted out there in the dark. 'Kuz it was really, really dark out there, doncha know. And I didn’t see any headlights on the ship. And I wanted to make sure they got me where I was sepozed to be. (I added that last part, 'kuz I didn't want to let him know I was a tow-away, and have me rerested for comin here without a tikit.)
Well, he kinda looked at me all subspicious like, and asked to see my 'papers'. Good thing that gard gave me some, utterwise I'd been in big trouble! But wunz he read my name was 'Dr. Cooper,' he was real nice. Told me that this is someplace called Antie-Morpork, which is NOT!! Loonytic Lakes. So abveeslee that merrychant back at that bar was lyin about where his ship was headed! But this dude says he's the Petrishen - or somethin like that - Lord Havelock Vetinari. I don't know what any of that means, but I think he has somethin to do with pollyticks. Anyways, he asked me if I'd like to do with him to a klub and get somethin to eat. And sinz I hadn't had anythin to eat in like ferever, I figyered, "Why not!"
So we went to this really nice place called the Black Ops Club. I think it's a dance klub, 'kuz the bouncer at the door didn't get all snotty about my klotz. He didn't even card me, witch is good. 'Kuz even though I’ve got that new photo idea from the gard at the base, I didn't have time to memoryize any of the stuff on it. I mean, if that bouncer had asked me that Dr. Cooper Sim's birthday, I don't know what I'd say. 'Kuz chances are, it's not the same as mine, doncha think.
Anyways, Havelock and I danced some. And for an aleeon, he's pretty good. Almost as good a dancer as me, and I'm really, really good! No lie! Then I met some more aleeons. One lady Sim looked like she had spinach growin out of her head. Witch would be really handy if you ever got real hungry, doncha think! But Remus Lupin - Havelock told me that he's a wizard - told me it was her hair. So I guess she can't eat it, after all. Witch is kinda sad, sinz I bet it would have tasted good with some Ranch dressin.
While Havelock was gettin us some drinks, Remus told me, "The rumors of my and Nymphadora's recent deaths are greatly exaggerated!" I don't know what that means, but everyone else seemed to think it was a great joke. But, you want to know a sekrit? I think they were all pretty drunk, 'kuz they all thought he was dancin with that Nymphadora Sim, but I didn't see anybody. Unless she's indivisible. Then of korz, I wouldn't be able to see her, doncha know! Leastways, I don't think so. But I did learn somethin useful. Somethin real impourtent! And I'll tell you all about it, when I get back from the bathroom!

So my anxiety has been through the roof the past few days and I was hoping I could ask for some fluffy headcannons about the chocobros. Like who brings home stray pets and who falls asleep while watching movies. More domestic-ish stuff. Sorry if I ever get to be annoying...
Sorry to hear anxiety’s been getting you down! Clearly Prompto (the fish) needs to step up his game. In the meantime, I hope a little domestic fluff OT4 will get you through the day :3 Actually, it turned into some Promptio fluff and then pet shenanigans.... But I hope it still fits your criteria! BTW I’m basing it off the same errbody-lives au ending as I did for the last one of these.
Chocobro OT4 + Kitty feels under the cut! v v v
- One thing that hasn’t changed after all the years inside the Crystal and atop the throne is that Noctis still hates mornings. When he doesn’t have some pressing duties pulling him out of bed at ungodly hours, he tends to sleep in - sometimes all day if the others let him.
- Of the four, Prompto tends to wake up the earliest. It’s a recent thing - used to be Iggy was always the first one awake, but he can no longer rely on the light of the morning sun. Gladio, too, is often more exhausted than he’s willing to admit, and recently needs at least two alarms before he’s slipping out of bed.
- Except this morning. Gladio’s been half-awake since 4 am, drifting in and out of sleep as he listens to the sound of his lovers breathing. He’s noticed that Prompto’s tossing and turning more than usual, and his face is tense even in sleep. A nightmare, or a memory. Both, perhaps. So he waits, hugging Prompto’s body close to his chest until the blonde finally, slowly opens his eyes.
- “Gladdy…?”
- “Let’s go for a run.” Neither of them have ever been as good with words as Ignis or even Noct. Sometimes that’s okay. They don’t need to talk to understand each other, not when they’ve already shared so much. So Prompto nods, allows Gladio to pull him out of bed and they both get dressed in their sports wear (which match, of course - holiday presents from Noct). Just as they’re about to head out, though, Prompto glances back at the other two still lying tangled together in bed.
- “Should we tell them where we’re going?”
- “They’ll be fine, let ‘em sleep.” Gladio smiles, presses a kiss to the top of Prompto’s head, then gestures for him to follow.
- They start by heading toward the park. It’s a route they both know well, and years of practice keep them jogging in perfect sync with one another. Though they run in silence, Gladio occasionally shoots Prompto a warm smile, and the blonde eagerly returns it with one of his own.
- It isn’t until they near the Citadel (the left wing of which is still under reconstruction) that they stop to take a break. Prompto chugs from his water bottle while Gladio collapses on a nearby bench. “Shit, I swear that hill is steeper than it used to be,” he laughs as Prom plops down next to him.
- “Sure you’re not just older than you used to be?” The blonde dodges a clap to the back of his head, turns and smirks. “Kidding, kidding.”
- “Yeah, right.” But Gladio throws an arm around him anyway, smiling as Prompto’s weight settles against his side, then his shoulder. He knows they shouldn’t be resting so long, but…. Well, exercise was only half the reason they came out here in the first place. “Beautiful, innit?”
- Prom follows his gaze to the sight of the Citadel stretched out before them. Its mirrored windows are just beginning to catch the light of dawn, casting the surrounding buildings in an orange-blue glow. “Mm. Good to see it like this….” To see it whole, he means, or at least most of the way there. Not broken and twisted as it had once again appeared in his dreams.
- When he shivers, Gladio is quick to hug him in again. Warm lips find his mouth, and then Gladio is kissing him, sweet, gentle, and yet with a hint of something deeper just below the surface. It gives Prompto somewhere to lean, to lay his burdens for awhile as he melts into the touch.
- They’re on a public bench, and it’s now late enough that other joggers are likely to start passing by, but Prompto doesn’t really care if they’re spotted. Without warning he swings his leg up and over Gladio’s thighs, pushes him against the back of the bench and settles easily into his lap. If Gladio were planning to protest (doubtful), it would have been swallowed up by Prompto’s lips in that moment as they close over his. Another moment and Gladio’s arms are around the blonde’s waist, and they shut out all else to let their mouths work away the tension.
- Prompto’s getting worked up. His hips are rolling on their own in Gladio’s lap, his heart pounding harder the further down his body Gladio’s fingers rove. He’s about to suggest they find at least a semi-covered space if they’re about to get it on in the park - but then something cold and wet presses against the exposed skin just above the hem of his jogging shorts, and he lets out a loud moan. “G-Gladdy, your hand’s c-cold!”
- But the older man is staring up at him with a confused look on his face. Slowly, he pulls his hands away, holding them up for Prompto to see. The cold-and-wet-something pressed to his skin again and this time the blonde nearly leaps off the bench.
- “W-w-w-what in the – Oh!” He whirls around in time to see…a kitten. A small, scrawny, black-and-grey kitten looking at him with the biggest green eyes he’s ever seen. Gladio’s comfortable lap and heated kisses momentarily forgotten, Prompto quickly switches into Kitty Whisperer mode. “Heeey, little buddy. You all alone? What’s a cutie like you doing out here by yourself?”
- “How did you manage to stay single for so long with lines like that?” comes Gladio’s rough chuckle. He adjusts himself in his shorts - figuring the mood is ruined for now - and reaches out to offer the kitten his hand.
- Prompto scoops him up first. “Don’t smell his fingers, sweetie, you don’t know where those have been.” (Gladio has enough dignity left to at least pretend to look offended) Prompto continues. “Do you live here? Are you hungry?”
- “Don’t get attached, you can’t take him home.”
- “Why not? And don’t say Ignis, because Noct loves cats and you know Iggy will give in to anything Noct wants.”
- It’s a hard point to argue. Still, there’s only one way to find out, and since the kitten is already curled up and purring around Prompto’s wrist, it looks like he’ll be the one carrying him home.
- They enter the apartment an hour later to find Noct settled between Ignis’ thighs on the bed, and a contented smile on both of their faces. Gladio rolls his eyes. “Couldn’t wait ’til we got back, Prince Shameless?”
- “King,” Noct corrects. He grins, looks like he’s about to say something else when the sight of Prompto - and his new kitten - catches his attention. “Woah, hey, what’s that?!”
- Ignis pushes himself up on his elbow, having enough decency to pull the sheets over his naked lap. “What is it, Noct?”
- “A cat!! A baby cat!” Noct is all smiles now, one arm snaking around Prompto’s waist as he pets the kitten’s fur with his other hand. He and Prompto are talking excitedly, but somehow the cat manages to sleep through it all.
- “You let him bring another animal home?” Ignis’ lips are set in a straight line as he steps up beside Gladio, tugging up his sweatpants at the same time. “We’ve talked about this, Gladio….”
- “Heh, you know how hard it is to say no to that pout of his.” And Ignis sighs, because yes, of course he remembers that pout, and how far stronger men than even Gladio have been rendered helpless to it. Still....
- “Have you named him yet?” Noct is asking (Iggy cuts in with a curt, how do you even know it’s a boy?) and then Prompto is smiling and blushing and passing the kitten into Noct’s arms.
- “Well, actually, I was thinking... Since we, y’know, found him near the Citadel, and he’s kind grey and scraggly.... How about ‘Regis’?”
- Noct freezes. Gladio’s eyes go wide and Ignis sucks in a breath. For a moment, Prompto’s worried he’s done something wrong - but then there’s the faintest hint of tears in Noctis’ eyes as he presses a kiss to the tip of a freckled nose. “It’s perfect. I love it, Prom.” He leaves Prompto flustered and grinning as he carries the kitten over to Ignis, holding his hand as he guides him in for a pet. The kitten opens its mouth in a sleepy mewl, and instantly curls up against Iggy’s palm.
- Sold.
- While Ignis runs over a list of everything they’re going to need to purchase (not to mention setting up a feeding and toilet cleaning regimen), Gladio slips up behind Prompto and slots himself against his back. “Let them play kitty-sitter for a while. You and me ‘ve got some unfinished business.” Before Prom can even catch on, he’s being dragged into the bedroom and simultaneously stripped of his clothing. The last thing Noct here’s before his pleas are swallowed up by kisses is, But what about a shower!!!!
Bonus:
- Ignis tilts his head. Frowns. Shuffles the sleeping cat in his arms and nudges Noct closer.
- “Mm? What is it, Specs?”
- “About your precious Regis,” he says as his lips suddenly curve into a smirk. “I believe he is actually a she.”
- Noct groans. Somewhere, he’s pretty sure his father is laughing his ass off.

These two won't leave me alone (their names are Áine and Ewan, btw), so here... have another snippet...
It's a bit long, but I like it :)
~
Where the city had been pretty in the normal way of cities a few hours ago, it was now an ethereal dream of soft lights and tantalizing smells. Gold, orange, pink, and white lanterns lit the area around the Grand Smithy off to the right, marking it as the place for games and competitions. Several blocks to the left were a mix of blues, green, and soft red; though she didn't remember what those colours meant, based on the mouth-watering smells she caught on the drifting breeze, it would be full of food stuff. Directly in front of the palace, silver, pale blue, lavender, and ember-red lanterns ringed the park-like plaza. Platforms with musicians were scattered throughout the space, with plenty of open space between for dancing. On the far side of the plaza, the lanterns glowed gold, deep blue, and pale green. That, she remembered, meant shops, though she wasn't sure if those shades denoted specific types.
"Are you going to stand there all evening, my lady?" Mahri asked, her eyes sparkling with delight.
"It's so much to take in," Áine admitted. "The festivals back home were never like this."
"You still celebrated Maryn's Eve, though, didn't you?"
She nodded. "The priests would give a blessing just before the sun set, and some would celebrate in the streets after, but most chose private parties."
Mahri wrinkled her nose. "That sounds boring."
"I didn't think so, but then, I had nothing else to compare it to."
"Well, then, it is time you experience a proper festival." With a quick nod to the two guards assigned to the princess, Mahri led the way into the swirling crowds already present.
Though it was barely past the evening meal, the nearby mountains had plunged them into an early twilight. It gave the festivities an extra air of abandon -- it didn't matter who was the princess and who was the under-cook. All were equal for an evening.
They danced and laughed and sang when they knew the words. When they grew tired, they joined the flow of people heading toward the stalls selling refreshments. Ice wines and roasted [mushroom-nut-hybrids] restored enough of their energy to investigate the games by the Grand Smithy.
"Ooh, this one is my favourite," Mahri said, a wide grin on her face as she pulled Áine along to an open-roofed booth.
A long table held a row of shallow bowls with simple knives beside each. Strange looking buns, a little larger than both her fists together, were piled on a table behind the woman manning the booth. Two children stood at the table, waiting anxiously. They giggled and nudged each other as the two women approached.
"Have you ever played Finch's Nest?" Mahri asked.
She shook her head.
The woman behind the table grinned. "It's not hard, lovie. You get a nest, then you race everyone else to be the first to pull the finch out."
"The 'finch' is a jelly-ball inside the bun," Mahri added. "You use the knife to try to cut it out without popping it."
Áine smiled. "Straightforward enough, though I would not have expected you to find it much of a challenge."
The woman behind the table cackled. "Oh, she doesn't. Her sweetheart had me hide a promise braid in a bun a few years back."
Mahri smiled, her shoulders rolling forward and head ducking ever so slightly. "I thought it was romantic."
"Clever too," she offered. "But let's not keep these two children waiting to play any longer."
Mahri won the first game, and opted not to play again in the spirit of fairness, and though Áine had thought herself quick and precise with a knife, it took six tries for her to get the jelly-ball out without popping it. By that point she wasn't even bothered by being the quickest. She just wanted to prove to herself she could do it.
"There! Finally!" She held the delicate fluid-filled gelatin ball aloft, as if it were, in itself, some grand prize.
"Congratulations, my lady. You've achieved the proficiency of a thick-fingered five-year-old."
She laughed and threw the jelly-ball at Mahri. It hit her hip and burst, leaving a splash of purple on her apron. "Shush you. Let's explore the other games."
Though most of the games were unfamiliar to her, the larger competitions seemed fairly universal. Wrestling -- both on the ground, and balanced on a log over a mud-filled pit -- and various types of combat, archery, and foot races. It took a fair bit of cajoling, but they eventually convinced one of the guards to join a race (they came third).
"It's a shame there isn't a throwing competition," Áine said, wistfully remembering the hair spikes she'd left back at her father's palace.
"What do you mean?"
"Throwing daggers, spikes, or darts."
Mahri's eyes widened. "Do you know how to do that?"
She shrugged, feeling inexplicably self conscious. "I can generally hit a target."
Mahri exchanged a glance with the guards, then one ran off toward the archery range.
"What are you doing?"
"You're a princess," she said. "If you want to throw some knives, then we'll let you throw knives."
Áine laughed. "My parents never thought such things were appropriate for a princess. It's fine, I do not want to cause any fuss."
"Nonsense." Mahri turned away and raised her voice over the general rumble of talking and laughter. "Oi! Princess Áine of Gunrilond challenges anyone willing to a knife-throwing contest!"
"Mahri! What are you doing?"
The crowd around them stilled as the people sized her up. One man nodded and asked, "Best of five, double heart?"
Mahri nodded. "And five full feathers to the winner."
Surprise and excitement coursed through the crowd. Quickly the word was passed along to those who hadn't been near enough to hear.
Áine groaned. "Mahri, what are you doing? I'm technically a hostage, I do not have any money."
"King Ewan will cover it, I'm sure, if you lose. But I'm sure it won't come to that."
"Mahri!"
She smiled, all sweetness and innocence. "Yes?"
"You cannot just assume the king will cover such a debt, for one. And you have never seen me throw a knife. What if I'm as horrible at throwing as I am at Finch's Nest?"
"Then we'll all have a good laugh, and some lucky person will be quite a bit richer."
She groaned and buried her face in her hands. It wasn't that she was bad at throwing knives. She was fairly good, to be honest. Though she much preferred the lighter and smaller spikes to knives. But Mahri was a servant. One of the upper level of servants, but a servant all the same. It was ridiculous to think Ewan would agree to pay such a sum, simply because she'd promised it. In Gunrilond, Mahri would be whipped, at the very least. She had no idea what the punishment in Morenae might be.
Her feet felt full of lead as she joined the crowd around the archery range.
Already the targets had been brought closer and a selection of knives laid out for the competitors. Seven people stood apart from the crowd. It took her a moment to realize they were the challengers.
The person who'd been running the archery booth beamed at the crowd. "Our honored guest, Princess Áine has laid forth a challenge. Five full feathers to whomever can beat her at a game of knives! Each person will throw two knives - one point for hitting the target, three for the outer ring, five for the inner, and double, a full sixteen points, for the heart. Five point minimum to advance to the second round. Top three to have a single, final throw, to determine the winner."
Cheers, taunts, and laughter erupted through the crowd, but her stomach was so full of knots she couldn't focus on what was being said. She had to win. Ewan wasn't an unreasonable man. If no money was owed, then Mahri could get off with a mild punishment.
"Princess, will you make the first throws?"
She forced her attention to the former-archery-booth person and gave them a weak smile. "Of course. Thank you."
She stepped up to the table with the knives and took a moment to study them. Though there were various styles before her, each was roughly the same size and decently balanced. A black-handled one and a steel-handled one were the closest in heft to her spikes, but a plain looking one with worn leather around the grip had the best balance of the lot. Finally settling for the leather-wrapped and steel-handled knives, she stepped up to the throwing line.
The targets were a solid twelve paces back. Twice as far as she usually had for practice. The straw stuffed sacks sat atop empty barrels, putting them around the height of a mounted knight. Oblong circles painted on the sacks gave a vague impression of a body, while the inner circles were positioned roughly between ribs and hips. A small black heart was painted on the upper left side of the outer circle.
She took a steadying breath, raised her first knife, and threw.
As soon as it left her hand, she knew it was a bad throw. It should have flown as straight as an arrow. Instead, it twisted, curving as the shifting weight pulled the balance off.
"One point!"
She grimaced. Minimum of five to advance to the second round. She had to hit the heart or the inner circle. Anything else and she'd be out.
The leather on the handle of the second knife rubbed softly against her skin as she rolled it in her hand. This was a knife that was well used, and well loved. She gave it a little bounce before settling it more firmly in her hand.
Another deep breath, adjust her stance, raise the knife. Throw.
This one was better. It flew straight and true, sinking into the sack with a barely audible thump. If only her aim had been a bit better.
"Is that in the inner circle?" someone asked.
The former-archery person jogged over to the sack and carefully pulled the blade out. They turned back to the crowd and paused while everyone held their breath.
"Five points!" they called out and the crowd cheered.
Áine tried not to sag too much with relief as she stepped aside for the other competitors. Their attempts passed in a blur. Two didn't get the necessary points. Of those advancing, one only managed five points, one got six (to tie with her), one got eight, and two pulled off ten.
"For the second round, we'll start with the best scores and work our way down!"
Áine wondered if they would make her continue if she threw up. Probably.
The first to throw landed an additional eight points, though the next person only got four. The third also got eight more, and the fourth got six.
She would need at least eight to make it to the final round. In theory, a simple enough thing. But her stomach roiled and palms were slick with sweat. The cheering of the crowd was muted, like the roar of a distant ocean.
She had to win.
The first throw was, once more, barely in the inner circle. Though, at least this time it could be seen from the throwing line.
She took a deep breath, pushed out all of the worry and fear, and threw the second knife. It hit square in the inner circle and the explosive cheers of the crowd rocked her.
"The princess gets ten! She has sixteen points, tied with Kloda! She'll advance to the final throw!"
She blinked at the happy faces surrounding her. Shouldn't they have been hoping she'd fail? Why were they so happy?
The final competitor got eight, not enough to continue on, though they didn't seem displeased about it.
"For the final round, up first, with 18 points, we have Dasyn!"
Áine studied her opponent for the first time, noting the faint scars on the back of his hands and his weathered face. A former soldier, or hunter, she suspected. He had a relaxed readiness about him that suggested strength and agility.
His fifth, and final, knife hit the outer circle and he grimaced. The blade was a couple inches away from the heart. But when the target is only an inch or two itself, that's a fairly large gap.
"Dasyn finishes with 21 points! Next, Kloda is starting with 16. She needs five to tie."
Kloda was a big woman in every sense of the word. Tall, broad-shouldered, and round. But she moved lightly on her feet, and her gestures flowed in a way that was reminiscent of dancing. She frowned at Áine a moment before turning to study the target.
"And five more points for Kloda! She's tied with Dasyn!"
The roaring of the crowd was intense enough to make Áine flinch. Though intense, it quieted down as soon as she took her place for her last throw. Five points would make it a tied game. She could get five. But a tie wasn't a win. She needed the heart.
She could practically feel the crowd holding its breath as she readied the knife.
Breathe in. Out. Focus. Let the knife be an extension of the arm. Breathe in. Throw.
"Heart! The princess got the heart!"
Arms wrapped around her and she was lifted and spun as people cheered and laughed and shouted. In the chaos, it took her a moment to realize it was Mahri who was spinning her.
"Put me down," she shouted, laughter bubbling up out of her at last.
"You were magnificent, my lady!"
"Thank you, but do me a favour -- no more volunteering me for competitions."
"But--" she broke off, eyes widening before she grinned and turned back to join the waiting guards.
A soft voice, close to her ear asked, "Does this mean I need to hide the knives at meals?"
She spun to see Ewan, a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "Your Majesty! I, uh... um..."
He scratched his chin. "Five full feathers is a lot of money."
"Please don't be angry."
He frowned, brows drawn in puzzlement. "Why would I be angry?"
"Because... uh... we, I mean, I... I did not ask if it were okay to put up such a large sum."
He chuckled and shook his head. "I gave Mahri twice that, so you could do as you pleased during the festival."
"You, I, uh... what? Why would I ever need that much? That's a ridiculous amount. I could buy a dozen silk gowns and still have money left over!"
"I wouldn't be opposed to seeing you with a dozen new gowns."
She felt heat rush into her cheeks. "What is wrong with the gowns I already have?"
"They're perfectly fine. Just simple."
"It's cold in Morenae. Simple keeps me warm, even away from the hearths."
"You're a princess, and my guest. You don't have to do anything that would take you away from the hearths."
She stiffened, crossed her arms, and glared at him. "I am not some empty-headed piece of fluff that is happy to sit by a window and look pretty from sun-up to sun-down."
He sighed. "I know. That isn't what I meant. I just... it would be okay if you didn't push yourself so hard."
She snorted. "Says the king who never takes a break."
Ewan smiled ruefully. "So I know exactly how much you need a break every now and then."
"I'll take a break when you do, Your Majesty."
He looked at her, his expression unreadable and an odd intensity to his gaze. "It's a deal then."
"What?"
"An hour every afternoon, we'll take a break from our work."
She blinked, feeling decidedly off balance. "What? An hour?"
"Hm. You're right. That might not be enough. An hour a day, and twice a week an entire afternoon."
She gaped at him.
He grinned. "A walk in the gardens tomorrow after lunch, then the day after I'd like to take you out to Urtath-Falls. While it is a bit chilly, there's also a temple, and it wouldn't do for my guest to be dressed so far below her station."
"I... um..."
"I'm sure Mahri will be happy to help you find something."
She couldn't think of what to say, so she just nodded before turning away.
"Oh, and Áine?"
She turned back, a warmth blossoming in her stomach at the way he said her name.
"My favourite colour is green."

Cherry Bomb - A Bughead Fanfic Part 2/??
ok here’s the next part. I kinda changed up the pov a bit (more on betty now) but I think I might just keep alternating. so, I made betty kind of a mechanic-ish?? also, I am aware that the Andrew’s company is not a repair shop, but I changed it up for the story’s sake. idk how y’all feel about that I was a bit nervous to throw that in there, but I also kind of like the idea of it?? it’s all going out on a limb so I’m sorry if it’s not that great. I kind of rushed it to get it out there to y’all who are reading it (which I’m super siked about btw I still can’t believe people are reading this). anyways! feedback is greatly appreciated, especially criticism! love y’all!
<3
———————————————————————————————————
Betty shrugged out of her denim jacket hurriedly, screwing her eyes shut tight as her mother continued to berate her over her choice in style. The woman continued to nag on and on, dragging the unimportant point to a dead fault. By the time she finished speaking, Betty was already out the door. With a deep inhale, the blonde tilted her gaze skywards, seeking comfort in anything that wasn’t Alice Cooper. The sky had taken a turn for the worse, instead of darkening to the point of weighted cumulonimbus clouds ready to spill over, they broke away to allow sunlight to filter through. It was a slow leak at first, but then relented onto a full fledged flood of light, voluminous and all-consuming. Suddenly, all of the cloud cover had completely disappeared. It was only a matter of time before Betty was sweating bullets and had to relieve herself of the nuisance that was her sweater - even that flimsy thing was too much fabric for her to stand.
Although Betty had only been in the house for a nearly three minutes, her mother still prevailed to attack the teen with questions on her whereabouts and fashion decisions within such a short time frame. It didn’t matter that Betty was her own person and could make her own choices or that she had her own life, Alice had the mindset that she controlled everything and everyone around her. Betty just wanted to do something bad, something no one would expect from Betty ‘Goody Two Shoes’ Cooper. She wanted to scare the living daylights out of her mom, prove she’s her own person - that she is capable of deciding her future. Her father, on the other hand, was the opposite, he gave little to no shits over what happened in Betty’s life, surrendering to his wife and allowing her to make all the calls. There was no one left to stand up for Betty, besides Betty, ever since Polly moved away with her baby.
Betty huffed down the sidewalk, hopping into her jacked up red Camaro that she managed to stitch together with some spare parts of Frank’s. It had a bunch of random inside pieces from other cars, Toyota, Ford, you name it. The shell was original though, a 1977 Camaro. That had been the only way for her to get her own car, to piece it together herself. So, that’s what she did. It wasn’t that different from writing an article. There were separate pieces to it, like a puzzle. The title, heading, body, and so on. She had asked Frank and Archie for a hand (which was pretty difficult considering her stubbornness), and that was that. It had taken a long while, probably two and a half months of long nights and grease stains that never ever came out. Still, the mission was accomplished, leaving her with a lousy hunk of junk. Yet, the thing still ran, although Betty had the sensation that one of those days, the front was just going to cave in and the car’s guts would just spill across the street - engine and all. However, that had yet to occur, so Betty hopped in the driver’s seat and jacked up the engine, making sure to rev it up a few times simply to annoy the hell out of her uptight mom, before skirting down the street and out of sight.
As Betty arrived at the Andrew’s Automobile Repair Company shortly after coaxing her mighty steed to life, Archie stepped outside the building to greet her, his greasy wife beater clinging to his muscles like a second skin. Betty paid it no mind as she parked her rusty car, laughing as it sputtered back to sleep, practically groaning with annoyance that it even had to wake up to begin with. Betty leaped out of her car, handing Archie a grin, before taking a gander at the scene around her. There were a couple of cars in the hangar, waiting to have surgery just like Betty’s own car had recently - an oil change.
“What do we got today?” Betty questioned, crossing her arms over her grey tank top which was tucked into her jeans.
“Another oil change, and a new engine transplant,” Archie gushed, obviously happy to have something to do around here for once.
It could get quite desolate at the repair shop, especially considering they were in Riverdale, where there weren’t even that many residents, and those who did live there most likely didn’t have a car since everyone walked everywhere. Betty only spent a few lazy summer afternoons at the repair shop - mostly when she needed a break of writing, of her mother’s constant fussing, and really just her own mind. Betty had the tendency to lock her own mind up, bottling her emotions inside instead of letting them out. But there were occasions when everything just built up - like a boiling pot that kept overflowing unless you turned the heat off, but there’s an endless stock of fuel, so she just kept burning and the water kept overflowing. The solution seemed to be sinking her nails into the tender flesh on her palms, allowing the pain to wash over and block out the anger. Those situations were sparse and rare, but they did happen.
Betty entered the hangar, the open space and cool shade very inviting as the sun began to get higher and higher overhead. She gave a curt greeting to Frank, who was already tinkering with the engine on the Toyota. She offered him a wave and a dimple, nothing more, before situating the navy bandana atop her ponytail clad head and getting to work. Archie gave helped her out with the oil change, but it was pretty simple since she had done one before, and Archie was pretty piggy and stole most of the actual knitty gritty part. Still, Betty enjoyed aiding the pair, especially since it was their own family company and had been for years. It felt nice helping out one of the locals.
Usually when Betty worked, she would try to completely block out the constant buzzing of her brain, and eventually, it just started to come naturally. But as Betty was fiddling with numerous car bits, her mind continued to train back to the memory of the crowned boy who stole her cherry earlier that day. She couldn’t fight the silly grin that surfaced on her face at the stupidity of it all, he literally stole her cherry, but not in the way most would take it. At that thought, Betty’s mind of course pursuited that train of thought whether she wanted to or not, and the painfully obvious question appeared. Would she let him steal her cherry? A blush followed close behind, a very odd thing from Betty, something she hardly ever does - it’s about as common as a UFO. The answer was most definite - a no, but an otherworldly feeling was stuck in her gut even after deciding that. Still, the attractive Serpent wouldn’t leave her head, sticking annoyingly in the creases of her brain like peanut butter on the roof of her mouth that she just couldn’t scrape off. It was something about the way he held himself, so fatigued and broken, yet his confident words had betrayed his stance. It was like his body and mind were at war, each yearning for different things. Betty had never experienced someone like him before.
As if on cue, a loud sound similar to a gunshot followed by a thunder-like rumble jolted the blonde out of her clashing thoughts. She poked her head out of the mangled metal underside of the car, rolling out from beneath it and pushing herself into an upright position to see what was making such a ruckus. Betty knew instantly who it was, she didn’t even have to see his face or hear his voice, his frame said enough. It wasn’t like he was bending over, or hunchbacked, or anything like that. It was a tiny, nonexistent thing, only revealed in the way he walked, the way that his slate grey eyes were always shifting, the way that he made himself appear somehow smaller without even moving. It was as if he himself wished to become invisible, and that was what intrigued Betty the most. It was the Cherry Boy himself, and he was making quite an entrance.
His motorcycle seemed to have broken down just as he showed up, making it right on time. But, he made quite a show of rolling the beast up to the hangar, pushing and heaving this way and that, acting as if the thing was a thousand pounds. Betty acted before thinking, turning her brain off without hesitation at the sight of him. She jumped to her feet and crossed the distance to him, her arms crossed in a sassy way. Jughead gaped, and was suddenly glad that he had his helmet on. He couldn’t believe that she was here, of all places. This was the last place he thought she would be, but hell, was he happy to see her. He figured she recognized him by the way she stared him down, gaze full of uncertainty and a hint of smugness. She should be proud, his friends would never let him live down after what happened, probably not for years. Jughead removed his helmet, resting it on the handlebars.
“What are you doing here, Cherry Boy?” Betty queried, eyeing his beat up bike, which certainly looked like it had seen better days.
Jughead shifted under her fiery green gaze at the specific nickname, then scolded himself for it. He shouldn’t show her weakness, especially since the bet was still on. He tugged on his leather jacket a bit, meeting her gaze with his own, his signature cocky smirk tugging on the corners of his lips, lifting them at the ends ever so slightly. If only he knew Betty was practically melting at the seams, he would be one giddy Juggie.
“Well, my bike kinda broke down. I figured I would take it to the repair shop,” Jughead proclaimed coolly, taking a panicky gander at the place, eyes darting this way and that just to add to his little skit. “Wait, don’t tell me this isn’t the car fixer upper.”
Betty rolled her eyes so hard she’s pretty sure they hit the back of her head, she was almost scared they wouldn’t come back to the front. The sarcasm in his words was practically tangible, and all Betty could do was snort at his dry sense of humor. She grabbed one of the handlebars, sensing Archie and Frank’s suspicious gazes on them. They didn’t like having a Serpent on their territory, and it showed in the way their eyes flirted back and forth like a bird stuck in a cage. They were frantically worried that Jughead would try to pull something, but he simply stood with his bike. Sill, distrust hung in the air so thick Jughead was sure he could pick out the vile scent of it.
“Come on, Cherry Boy. Let’s get this thing to ‘the car fixer upper’,” Betty quipped with a little grin, one Jughead secretly cherished.
They wheeled the heavy vehicle into one of the open spaces in the airy hangar. Frank took a pause from working on the engine and instead took a look at Jughead’s motorcycle. It turned out he only needed to get an oil change, one of the easiest things to accomplish on an automobile. Jughead simply shrugged and wore that stupid, toothy smile that Betty was ashamed to say she was familiar with by now. Frank asked Betty to take it over while he finished up on the engine, promising that Archie could handle the other oil change by himself. Archie gave his own reassurance, which Betty responded to with an eye roll and an ‘uh-huh.’ She was just waiting for him to mess it up.
So, Betty repaired Jughead’s motorcycle, which didn’t take long, since it was only a quick oil change. They kept up a small banter as she tinkered, something which both of them enjoyed far more than they would rather admit.
“You know, this whole thing could have been avoided if you had checked your gauge, Cherry Boy,” Betty asserted snarkily, glancing at the dark haired teen with a cheeky grin.
“Too bad that broke a week ago, huh? Anyways, ‘Cherry Boy’ is not my name, at least, last time I checked,” Jughead cross-examined as he leaned against the wall, watching Betty fiddle with the black bike.
Betty perked up a bit, taking a break to look Jughead in the eyes. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah, it’s Jughead.”
A fit of snorting laughter caused Jughead to bolt upright, scaring the shit out of him. He stared at Betty as if she sprouted another head on the spot, but she didn’t care, cackling like there was no tomorrow.
Once she caught her breath, she wheezed through a watery gaze, “You can’t be serious.”
“Very,” Jughead stated.
“Oh, boy. I still think Cherry Boy is better.”
“Not very creative,” Jughead mumbled, pouting a bit.
“I’m not known for creativity,” Betty commented, delving back into the innards of Jughead’s ride.
She was nearly done, leaving a hollow feeling in her stomach - empty and foreboding. She was trying to place a finger on that sensation, when it hit her - she didn’t want Jughead to leave. Betty shoved that realization aside, pushing herself to her feet as she wrapped it up, placing the tools she used back where they belong. Jughead also regained his composure, standing a bit straighter, looking like he was waiting for something.
“It’s all done. I would say good as new, but it’s not that great, and I don’t think it was when it was new either,” Betty joked, smiling at her own humor.
Jughead smiled too, but this one seemed a bit different. It was the same brand, just a different variation - like the original picture, but with just a different filter. This one was a bit sweeter, more genuine. The realness of it stole Betty’s breath, and she had to swallow before she trusted herself to speak again.
“You know, not to be rude, but I kinda need some money,” Betty pointed out abruptly, causing Jughead to raise his eyebrows at her blatancy.
He did as he was told, handing her the cash, but not before their fingers brushed and an electric current sparked along their spines. Betty reeled backwards, but Jughead lingered in front of her. In slow motion, his hand reached up to her face. He began to close the distance between them. Betty was lost in his gaze - the same color as a thunderstorm, one of her favorite things. And for a bittersweet moment, Betty thought he was going to kiss her (and, oh, how he wanted to). And the worst thing about that wasn’t that he didn’t do it, it was that she leaned in. Instead, he swiped his thumb across her cheek, his spectral gaze fixating on the smudge resting upon her flushed cheek. Once he was satisfied with his handiwork, he backed away.
“Sorry, you had something on your cheek,” Jughead explained, grabbing his helmet and mounting his bike.
He looked as if he was going to leave, preparing for takeoff, but he hesitated at the last moment, as if fighting something off, but failing in the end. He turned around, looking over his shoulder to meet Betty’s gaze. She was staring, but she couldn’t help it. She couldn’t look away. He gave her that goddamned smile, lopsided, charming, all teeth, the one only he could pull off. Then, he winked.
“See you later, Betts.”
It wasn’t a question, but a promise.
And with that, he was gone.

Are there any specialized insurance company's that deal with young drivers?
I find it extremely annoying to type in all my details every single time I want to check the quote for a different car... ideally, I want a website where I can type in my details but NOT select the car and then it show me the quotes for each car so I can then CHOOSE from the list which car it is that I want... I'm 17, nearly 18 and have a full UK license and I'm looking at buying my first car. All the insurance quotes I've looked at are for over 1,700. Most of them are around 2,500. It's not like I'm choosing Ferrari's or anything either lol I'm looking at small run abouts, 106's, Saxo's, Polo's... I don't really CARE what the car is but I want a car. Any advice?""

What's up with these private car insurance company's that insure your car if it breaks down?
Auto insurance is supposed to protect you if your car's transmission goes out AND if you hit someone. People are getting ripped off! Just makes me mad. If you can convince me why people need two auto insurance's (one if you hit someone and one if your car breaks down) I'll give you best answer.

Why should someone who is say 40 get cheaper car insurance than a 17 year old?
If for instance they passed on the same day, why should a 17 year be categorised as less responsible than a 40 year old in terms of driving ability? Particularly when chances are due to the insurance gaps and most probably the earnings of these two hypothetical people the 40 year old would be able to afford a more powerful car...""

How much on average would liability insurance cost after 2 dwi's (5 years ago)?
It's been over 5 years (and sober!). I'm on a tight budget though and need a car for work now. I already figured what the interlock will cost me, but I have no idea on insurance. I don't know if it will be $100-$300 a month. After the first DWI (bad college years), it was about $125 a month I think. So I'm really hoping it stays under $250 at least a month just for liability. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks :)""

First time car insurance?
I passed my driving test on the 6th of December 2011 and got a car yesterday. It is a 1.0 litre peugeot 107 56 plate and I'm 22. Wondering where the cheapest place to go for car insurance would be or the cheapest way to do it? I've heard some people go on their Mum's, but you shouldn't do that as it's illegal to say they are the main driver when you are (not sure how this would be proved). I've looked on price comparison sites but they are all still so expensive and I still feel I can get a better quote. The best one has been from an independent insurer called Ingenie at 1300, so I know I can get cheaper on sites that aren't on price comparison ones, if that makes sense! The thing is there's so many was just wondering if anyone knew the cheapest?? Getting bored of typing my details in over and over :) Thankyou x""

Best auto insurance company for young adults?
So after working hard in college and multiple internships, I am going to graduate college in three years and best of all, managed to score an incredible job with Boeing aerospace division in this toilet of an economy. I even managed to use most of my savings to buy an apartment. However, after all this, I realized I was missing a crucial thing. A car(i live far from work). I only drove in my highschool years, so I am completely oblivious when it comes to insurance rates and what not. So my questions are as follow: 1.Is it better to have an older car or newer car as far as premium amounts go? I used to fix cars with another mechanic, so im not worried about an older car breaking down. 2. I am 20 years old, in your experience, what company is the best for young adults? I have no criminal records and no accidents from my highschool years. 3. How much insurance should I buy? In other words, should i just buy coverage for the other person if i hit someone, or should I buy coverage for my own car as well? 4. Just generally, in what range should I expect to pay? Just curious, I have to get it whether I like it or not. 5. Finally, any good tips on bartering with the insurance company to get a lower premium? You dont have to answer all the questions, feel free to just answer one, any help is appreciated!""

Will I need SR 22 insurance?
Almost five years ago I got my license suspended in Ohio for a wreckless endangerment. As soon as it got suspended I did the classes I was required to take and paid my court fees. It took me a few years to pay all of my fines and the only thing keeping my license from being re-instated was the need for SR22 insurance. I never got the insurance. I'm now in California and looking to get my license back and I heard somewhere that three years after the suspension the need for the SR 22 bond drops, but I'm not sure if that's true or not? Does anyone know the laws for this situation in Ohio and will I still need to get the insurance in order to get my license unsuspended?""
