***Spoiler Alert****

Hi! My name is Otterheart, and this is my first post. I am a huge warriors fan, and a huge Hamilton fan. So, I present to you: Warrior Cats as Hamilton characters! *This only includes cats from the first Arc*

1. Firepaw as Alexander Hamilton in ‘Alexander Hamilton’ You all saw this one coming, right? These two characters have so much in common. They are in unfamiliar territory, and are committed to being the best they can be.

2. Spottedleaf as Angelica in ‘Satisfied’ This one is sort of cliche: Spottedleaf loves Firepaw, but she can’t have him because she is a medicine cat. She is also strong- willed and will readily stand up for what she believes in.

3. Tigerclaw as King George in ‘You’ll be back’ This one took some thinking, but there is a connection. Tigerclaw, just like King George, wants to rule over The colonies/Thunderclan. However, due to George Washington and Alexander Hamilton( Bluestar and Fireheart), He has to accept defeat. Of course, Tigerclaw then decides to take over Shadowclan. That can also be seen as King George returning to his throne.

4. Bluestar as George Washington in ‘ Meet me inside’ and ‘One last time’ Bluestar and George Washington are alike in many ways. They are the leader of their colony/clan. I totally see the “Call me son one more time” happening between Fireheart and Bluestar, especially when Bluestar starts to lose faith in Starclan. I also feel like ‘One last time’ would be playing in the background as Bluestar dies.

5. Greypaw as Laurens in ‘My shot’ Greypaw and Firepaw are besties, just like how Alexander Hamilton and John Laurens are besties. My main reason for choosing Laurens for Greypaw is Laurens dies halfway through the musical. Greypaw(stripe) also gets taken away in the beginning of the ‘new prophecy arc’.

6. Longtail as Thomas Jefferson This one was pretty simple. Longtail immediately dislikes Firepaw, since he was a kittypet. Just like that, Thomas Jefferson and Hamilton have a mutual hate for each other, always finding ways to attack each other.

and finally…….

7. Bramblepaw as Philip Hamilton Bramblepaw was apprenticed to Fireheart (Alexander Hamilton), and that eventually led to them having a father-son relationship. Bramblepaw(claw) believed in the same things Fireheart did, and that is the same relationship Philip and Alex had. However, Philip died because of that, and Brambleclaw became deputy and eventually leader. These two characters are the same yet opposites, as Brambleclaw followed Firestars beliefs while Philip fought for them.

Hello. I am the one who made the “disconnect between the amrev historical Hamilton/musical Hamilton” confession. I have been seeming to be getting a lot of backlash for it though.

In response to what many people who are saying that because we like it, we are racist. That is fully untrue. We understand what happened, we understand the practice of slavery and how it happened. We understand and acknowledge those who were enslaved. And we understand the Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings 🍇ing. We are not denying it happened, and we do not support what they did in any way. Though, like any other early American historians, we are interested in the people, events, and overall history of the American Revolution. We are interested in the founding of our nation.

I 100% believe there should be more black representation within the discussions and art within the amrev fandom, though we are mostly made up of the historical Hamilton fandom. Hamilton himself was mostly an abolitionist. (And before you come at me again, I understand Hamilton may have owned some enslaved people for the approval of Philip Schuyler.)

But in other words, historical Hamilton fans or amrev fans are not racist, and we do not support the practice of slavery.

To answer a couple of questions that were asked in the tags of my Thomas Jefferson intro

a) for @astronomicalgarbage, who asks if my Jefferson has a thing for Mac and Cheese:

Absofuckinglutely. There's an ongoing fight between me (Canadian) and him (American) about whether Kraft Dinner counts as mac and cheese or an abomination before the lord, and it's one of our favourite meaningless battles. We also correct each other's spelling on papers of words like favourite/favorite and colour/color.

b) for @tex-treasures, who wanted to know our favourite Pokemon and our favourite art periods!

My favourite Pokemon is Ditto, same as it is IRL ^-^ I also have a soft spot for Caterpie and Eevee. My favourite art period is the Pre-Raphaelites.

Thomas's favourite Pokemon are uhhhhhh Luxray, Rayquaza, and he likes Vulpix content. I feel like I don't have the actual knowledge to say what an actual fan like him would like! He likes Neo-Classicalism and chibi art -_-

c) finally, the big question from several people, IS THIS AN APRIL FOOL'S PRANK?

Short answer: yes, I thought it would be fun to do for April Fool's, Miku Binder Thomas Jefferson is not going to be a member of my F/O list. But I do appreciate everyone who turned out to support me <3 <3

Long answer: LMM's version of Thomas Jefferson was genuinely one of the first ten characters I drew selfship art with. As much as I like the aesthetics of the character, I simply have no desire to dive back into that fandom and the politics thereof. My Hamilton/Les Mis era of my life was one of rampant idealism and huge energy and I feel very far away from that earnest wide-eyed first year who was making eight-hour drives to the capital to wave signs on the weekend.

If I was going to selfship with LMM's Thomas Jefferson, I would probably make my own modern design without some of the details from Miku Binder TJeff, but with the same nostalgia for the exaggerated characteristics of the Hamilton fandom (ie. Alex never sleeps, Laurens loves turtles, Lafayette is nonbinary, Thomas loves mac and cheese, everyone has dated everyone else).

But ultimately I'm not going to put in that work. Suffice to say that although this was an April Fool's prank, it was with a lot of heart and genuine enjoyment that I got to explore this dynamic!

A liberal looking for some shards of light in the general murk doesn’t have to make do with this. Here is another intellectual victory so total and pervasive that it tends to pass without notice:

Well, it lost. My prediction was pessimistic by, what, three years? Tourism is rife. I can’t get a table at Goodbye Horses. New York has introduced a congestion charge. In the end, as soon as restrictions eased, people voted with their feet for liberal modernity, even if few of them would think to call it that.

One of the dangers of being excessively online is that you over-index small-time “trends”. Yes, quack science is spreading. This or that gasbag reactionary has two million followers. But these things have to be set against larger defeats for the superstitious, the nostalgic and the anti-modern: defeats so structural as to be hard to spot.

In retrospect, it was a deceptively civilised moment when Trump couldn’t name his favourite Bible verse during a TV interview. (“I don’t want to get into specifics.”) Thomas Jefferson had to go through brilliant circumlocutions to pass off his beliefs as something mistakable as Christian faith. It is possible that one or two recent presidents have slyly padded out whatever quantum of religious feeling dwelt inside them. Now? Going through the motions is enough. Like no other modern figure, Trump shows that liberalism is beleaguered, and quietly rampant.
