correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm probably overthinking this, but of all the characters to be a different Chat Noir aside from Adrien and Marinette...it was Zoe. Zoe who is supposedly Chloe's replacement. Chloe who the fandom hc as being Chat Noir in a lot of AUs and generally just a popular Kwami Swap AU character for the cat miraculous.
Maybe it's just me being upset (still) about Chloe's lost potential but meh. I wish Zoe is treated better tho, right now she's like every other character - relevant when the plot needs it or another Adrinette 'shipper'.

Return to sender (dc x dp)
There was a box set right in front of his door. That was already pretty unusual, since Danny had just moved in, and and gotten done with boxes and he knew he hadn't had anything delivered here.
"Let's get you inside," Danny muttered as he got his key out of his pocket.
Unlocking the door, he picked it up and made his way in. He set the box down on the small kitchen table before grabbing a knife from the cabinet. He sat down and set to cutting the tape along the opening.
Peeling back the flaps, he took a peek at the contents only to be faced with a mound of yellow and black sparkly tissue paper, with a letter on top.
"What do we have here?" he muttered to himself, as he took the envelope out of the box.
Ripping it open, he got a small greeting card out. It had a yellow smiley face on it with the word "Smile!" printed above it. He flipped it open, and his eyes fixed on the printed text that said "Because today is your day!" Underneath it, written in chicken-scratch was written the following: "Looks like the bat has a new signal. At least mommy and daddy won't know how fast you replaced them!" it was signed with a simple J and yet another smiley face.
Danny frowned. "Weird."
Then, he peeled back the paper to find a taxidermied yellow-and-black bird Danny couldn't recognize, with its wings broken.
"This is definitely not mine," Danny said as he looked at the bird. Hopefully the real owner of this wasn't going to be too disappointed it had been this damaged in transit.
Danny took up the box to look at the delivery address, only to find that while this was for his apartment, the name of the receiver was marked as "Duke Marlon Thomas". It took one quick google search to find a phone number. Danny thanked whoever the sender was for including a middle name as it narrowed the search greatly. Dialling the number, Danny got up to get himself a glass of water. As he got the glass out, the line connected.
"Hello?" he heard a surprisingly young voice say. Well, assuming apparently made an ass of Danny. Maybe taxidermy really did appeal to all ages.
"Hi, my name's Danny. I think I got your package by accident."
"My package?" The guy on the other side asked, perplexdely.
"Yeah, a big box with a bird in it?" Danny answered. "Listen, man I'm sorry, I think the wings broke during transit, I swear it was already like that when I opened it-"
"What bird?" Now the guy sounded even more confused.
Well now, Danny was starting to get confused. "A taxidermied black-and-yellow bird?" Danny sounded out, then he grabbed the note and let his eyes go over it again. "There was a note too, I opened it, sorry about that." Danny winced, before trying for a joke to hopefully get the guy to soften up on him. "Whoever that J- friend is, he's got a weird sense of humour."
"J- friend?" the voice on the other side of the phone said. Guess, the joke hadn't gone over well, because his voice had gone tense.
"Yeah," Danny answered withholding a sigh, damn his curiosity. Opening other people' letters was not only a gross invasion of privacy but also a federal crime. Hopefully the guy wouldn't stay mad too long. "It was signed with the letter J and a smiley face."
"Whoever you are," said the guy, and the urgency in his voice had Danny straightening up. "You need to get out of here right now."
"What-?"
Just then, the door to Danny's apartment was blown open.
"I hope you're ready, birdie," a voice outside sounded, before a spindly man in a purple suit, green hair and sickly-looking skin walked in.
"Because you and me are going to have so much fun."

[Spoilers] The Norman Masterpost
I'm collecting everything I remember surrounding the story Julie tells Ethan in the RV. Feel free to add to it if you find something I missed!
In the story, the character "Norman" dies in his friends' arms, which upsets Ethan. To fix this, Tabitha reasons that Norman can't be dead, because it was monsters that killed him, and there's no such thing as monsters. This is the scene that introduces us to the four characters in the Matthews family, but it also introduces us to some other elements that will keep coming up through the show.
THE LAKE OF TEARS
After his seizure during the night they spend in the RV in S1E2, Ethan claims to have "seen" the lake of tears as a drawing in Victor's room.
Tumblr media
"I saw the lake of tears. It was a drawing on the wall. There were so many drawings on the wall. Like when I used to draw with crayons... and you would put it on the fridge? And we were all there in the drawings, you and me and Mom and Julie. But somebody screamed, because the spider came down from the ceiling."
I find it interesting that Ethan could see drawings of his family that Victor made, before they even met Victor. It seems that Julie can visit the past during her seizures, while Ethan can see into the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many of Victor's drawings depict water droplets, large bodies of water and a large spider. We can see a few of them here.
"TELLING A DIFFERENT STORY"
The norman story is longer in an earlier version of the script. In this longer version, Ethan begs Julie to change the ending, but she tells him that she can't change the ending because the story's over. Tabitha suggest that they can tell a different story (one that brings Norman back to life), but Julie argues that it won't matter because "her story came first".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the crash, we get this sweet scene of Julie writing a different ending for Ethan in S1E2, where Norman's friends are able to save him. However, it doesn't seem to land as Ethan's interest is grabbed by seeing the BIW outside the window.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once Julie becomes a storywalker in season 3, she tells Ethan she might be able to save Tian-Chen, and maybe even Thomas. It's now Ethan who tells her that it doesn't work that way — she can visit chapters that have already been told, but she can't change them.
Tumblr media
E: "You're a Storywalker." J: "So if I go back to those ruins, do you think I could do it again?" E: "Maybe, why?" J: "Well, if... if this is real, that means I can change things. I can save Tian-Chen. Maybe I could even save Thomas." (😭) E: "It doesn't work like that. You can visit the chapters, but you can't change them." J: "Why?" E: "No one can change a story once it's been told."
Still, that doesn't stop her from trying. We see future Julie trying to save her dad in the finale. It seems Ethan was right, as she's not able to make any meaningful changes to the narrative.
Tumblr media
She does, however, throw Boyd the rope, so we will have to wait until S4 to learn more about storywalking and what Julie may or may not be able to do when she visits the past.
There is also the possibility that, just like with Norman's story, it will be Tabitha who changes the ending with a different approach of her own. When Victor recalls what the BIW told Christopher in S3E8, he mentions "someone who loved the children" telling them a story that gave them hope.
Tumblr media
"The children were born in the dark, and they were murdered in the dark. But someone who loved them told them a story. The story gave them hope, and when the children laid on the stones, they poured their hopes into the roots to make the symbol, and those roots became the tree."
I'm guessing this "someone" is very likely to be the first incarnation of either Tabitha or Jade. The story they told created the gateway out of the town, so who knows what else is possible?
JIM AND NORMAN
In Tabitha's dream in S1E9, we get a closeup of some of Ethan's toys in the steps of the lighthouse. Moments later, we're shown Jim hanging upside down. This is the scene that popularized the theory that Jim would eventually die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dream is about Tabitha's memory of the RV crash, so both Jim hanging upside down and the focus on Norman make sense without implying Jim's death. However, Jim did eventually die, so the connection feels worthy of mention.
Tumblr media
The show makes a point to remind us that Norman got buried alongside Jim when their house collapsed. It's interesting that he's present every time the possibility of Jim's death comes up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, I find it interesting that Jim's death seems to mirror Norman's (death by monster claws, right after he cracked the code that unlocked the answers that might save them, complete with a loved one crying in despair.)
THE SECRET FAIRIES
The "secret fairies" are not brought up again to my knowledge, but I can't help but wonder if we've met them. Could they be the children that only Jade and Tabitha can see?
Tumblr media
They are central to the story of the show, so it would make sense to me that they were introduced as early as possible alongside the rest of the elements I've mentioned.
CONCLUSION
Like Victor said, I also think "the answers to the end are at the beginning", so I think Tabitha might find a way to wish or reason the monsters away with Jade's help, and potentially save Jim.

Heeeyyyy Mob👋 Happy holidays!! I bring some questions
🎨 What's favorite drawing you made in 2024?
👀 What's favorite drawing you saw in 2024?
📝 What's favorite fanfic you've written in 2024?
✍ Favorite quote from your fanfic?
💖 Planning anything special for next year? You can answer any questions you want, all of them or none at all! I would love to see stuff you enjoyed or proud of! ✨
OH MY STARS!!!! You literally just made my whole day with this, Vene 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 I'm happy to indulge!
———
My favorite drawing of 2024 was DEFINITELY this bad boy right here!
IT LOOKS LIKE STAINED GLASS CANDY!!! I never understood people who said they wanted to eat art, until I drew this. Now I kinda get it.
Tumblr media
| TMDG SK! Sans x Final! Frisk | The Bride, Her Bridesmaids and all her rotting flowers | 💙🔪💔 |
———
My favorite drawing I've seen this year was this piece down here! Yes, it's a link because I don't want to repost other people's art if they're not a friend, hahaha
This piece is fanart of an underrated scream queen classic; American Mary! Where a woman enacts revenge on the man who abused her by becoming a body modification surgeon and using him as her guinea pig! I loved this move SO MUCH! This movie is such a SLAY!
———
Obviously, my favorite fanfic I've written this year is The Most Dangerous Game. 💙🔪💔
There is literally no competition! This might be controversial, but it's undeniably better written than WDYW, and I think I like it more 🫣 (I would hope so, considering I wrote WDYW when I was a senior in high school, and NOW I'm a senior fucking citizen ((21)). TMDG is deeply thematic, compelling, terrifying, and so much more! Sans is genuinely HORRIFYING! The perfect slasher villain! And not just that, it's like he represents Frisk's constant brush with death! It's the perfect fic for people who like Undertale but ALSO like Hannibal!
And if you just saw Nosferatu, like me... you should know that there's some STARK similarities (AND I'VE NEVER SEEN NOSFERATU BEFORE, MY GENIUS TRANSCENDS TIME, I BASICALY REWROTE NOSFERATU GUYS! /J.) Honestly, I should draw the TMDG characters in a Nosferatu AU, because guys? Frisk as Ellen/Mina, Ibrahim as Thomas/Johnathan, Asgore as the Professor/Van Helsing and Sans as Count Orlok/Dracula! AHHHH IT'S PERFECT!
———
You are truly asking so much of me to pick ONE quote from my fanfics to put up here hahahaha, BUT! I do have one fresh on the dome. 😌
From this week's most recent TMDG chapter, THAT'S RIGHT I UPDATED RANDOMLY OUT OF NOWHERE, I present to you the following—
“She lifted the rock high into the sky, her body reeling from the force like she were bound to worship this ceaseless violence for forever!”
| Read T M D G chapter 17 here if you're interested |
Just— AUGH! THE THEMES! It's so visceral, the imagery! It's the way the movement of her slamming this rock into this visage's skull imitates bowing and worshipping. Like Frisk's fate is tied to this dark underworld. UGH! It's so good, it's so raw, it's so painful! I love it.
———
Annnyywaaayyy, THANK YOUU! For the ask, and for indulging me, Vene. Happy holidays to you as well! 🫶🏻🫶🏻 As for next year? Who knows! Maybe I'll finish my fuck ass book

Books of the month!!!
(for the past 3 months) (forgot to do this for February and March so they're all here)
April
Bring Up the Bodies, Hilary Mantel — MORE blorbo Thomas Cromwell! Unreliable narrator tortured evil meow meow goes VROOM!! Genuinely hilarious on top of it. More thots. Fave read of 2024 so far. READ IT.
Dimenticare Berlinguer: La sinistra italiana e la tradizione comunista, Miriam Mafai — Essays on Italian political history. Probably not relevant to tumblr's interests. Very relevant to mine.
Mademoiselle de Maupin, Théophile Gautier — Gender! 1835s epistolary novel with Gender and crossdressing and musings on the value of Beauty! I loved this but it's rambly in a period-typical way. The Italian translation has very witty pretty prose; no idea about the original French, but I've heard the English translation isn't great.
The Angel of Indian Lake, Stephen Graham Jones — Third book of a trilogy. Do rec only if you love Jade Daniels as much as I do. Otherwise, it might get a bit confusing. I DO enthusiastically rec the first book in the trilogy, My Heart Is a Chainsaw, so you will all come to love Jade Daniels as much as I do. You're welcome.
The Manicurist's Daughter, Susan Lieu — A memoir about grief and families and the immigrant experience (Vietnam to west coast US). It's not usually my wheelhouse but I appreciated so many things about it, especially because of the audiobook version. Nonspoilery goodreads review here.
March
Bride, Ali Hazelwood — I don't like werewolf tropes enough to have enjoyed this. Fun romp if you like mates and knots.
We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families, Philip Gourevitch — Nonfiction; a partial account of the Rwandan genocide. (I say partial bc I think it lacks context if you, like me, don't know much about the topic going in.) Very poignant, unfortunately remains relevant; do NOT go for the audiobook version because it's dull as dirt.
Wolf Hall, Hilary Mantel — The book that blorbifies Thomas Cromwell and it's also laugh-out-loud funny. Do yourself a favour and read it.
February
Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronthe — somehow I'd never actually read this in English before? Absolute banger. The first half remains superior.
American Elsewhere, Robert Jackson Bennett — I have screamed about this on tumblr before. COSMIC HORRORS TAKE OVER NEW MEXICO TOWN! Do rec.
Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier — Amazing incredibly showstopping etc.
Clarkesworld, Issue 209 — Love me some cool sff short stories. Standouts: Lonely Ghosts (Meghan Feldman); The Enceladus South Pole Base Named after V.I. Lenin (Zohar Jacobs); Why Don't We Just Kill the Kid In the Omelas Hole (Isabel J Kim)
january books || let's be goodreads friends! here

Hey, Winx Club Fans....💙✨
Were you a huge fan of the series in its Golden Years from Seasons 1-4? Were you disappointed in the direction the series took from Seasons 5-8? Were you okay with the later seasons, but wished there was something more? Do you wish the characters were expanded more? Well, have no fear because your wishes have been granted....in a way! I came across Thomas Vaccaro or Unicorn of War's Winx Club rewrite of Season 5 & 6 and it's been very entertaining! Season 5's rewrite decides to make some extreme changes by having The Winx stay guardian fairies & teachers/teaching assistants at Alfea since they canonically graduated, having Roxy be their pupil plus 7th member in the group, making Princess Krystal of Linphea more of an antagonist, using more Enchantix & Believix power (with added in Zoomix wings), only having Sirenix as the main transformation this season, and there's even some changes done for our villains too. While Tritanus is still a constant threat alongside The Trix, this season's rewrite is split into two different MAJOR threats! The first half of the season involves The Ancestral Witches while the second half deals with Politea. Each of The Winx have their moments to shine as they're faced with new challenges and new powers. To those who are interested, here's Part 1 of the 2-part Season 5 rewrite:
youtube
To those who still aren't convinced, there's a ton of fun material put into Season 6's rewrite! While there are plotlines and continuity that came from the Season 5 rewrite, we still focus on what Season 6 had to offer. The wannabe witch Selina, Fairy Godmother Eldora, the villainous Acheron, and the power of The Legendarium! This time, The Trix aren't interested in being sidekicks to a greater evil anymore so they plan on making their own coven of powerful beings. In doing so, Selina offers to let them take her under their wings so she can use The Legendarium for her and Acheron's gain. Meanwhile, The Winx (especially Bloom) are now in a spot where they're drifting apart leaving them with having to reconstruct their friendship while also having to save the day once more with new powers such as Mythix and Ardorix (yes, Bloomix has been renamed Ardorix for this rewrite). Selina's use of The Legendarium brings out original threats like The Rose King, The Silent Phantom, & The Dark Sirens, but there's also a few returning threats like The Wizards of the Black Circle and Lord Darkar. Thankfully, this season's rewrite gives us some friendly familiar faces like The Pixies, Buddy the Dragon, Princess Galatea, & companions from Cloud Tower. This season's rewrite really uses the concept of the 10th year anniversary to take in nostalgic elements and expand on them. We have the return of previous transformations again, we have the return of Dark Bloom, we have the return of Chimera from Season 3, we have another Hallowinx episode, we have Professor Avalon getting more involved since Season 2, we have Princess Diaspro turning a new leaf (it was noticed before in Season 5's rewrite), we get to know more about Stella's lunar side of the family, & we even get proper yet slightly unofficial backstory on The Trix! The Winx Club are also faced with their own dilemmas in their relationships that they'll have to conquer. If you're still not interested, at least look at these Mythix redesigns made by Tixel Mcquade because they are GORGEOUS! They follow this traditional fairy aesthetic with their magic wands made of their Charmix pins! Here is Episode 1 of the 30-episode Season 6 rewrite:
youtube
Tumblr media
Personally, I really have to thank Thomas and his team who participated in these projects because they really did fill this hole that I felt regarding my feelings to how the series went after its golden years. The rewrites are so fun to listen to and they're so amazingly well-written. It's so good that I wish it was actually canon! If only...in a different universe. It's a lot to listen to, but I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it just as I did.

cast us and our fandom friends in hamilton like as the characters iykwim?
like who is most like who or gives the vibes ykyk
had to think this a lot that's why it took me so much to answer
So I think I have the Hamilton vibe. Like completely insane traumatized writer with a coffee addiction? that's me. also he's incredibly easy to write, personally, so that's kind of an indicator of similarity, at least I think so
Ash called King George, so alright he's him, but if he wasn't I would've put Anon as KG and Ash as Lafayette or Laurens because of the unhinged energy. If I wasn't Hamilton already I would've considered him for it, bc I also based some of my modern one-shot dialogues with ham on real conversations I've had with ash
Vanessa... before I start singing The Club, I'm gonna say she's Jefferson, the sassy version. Flawless. Could kill you, bold, but also wears fucking floor length fuchsia gowns and 100% listens to nessa barrett. Also like bffr Vanessa would have a goat which kills little boys and a mockingbird called Dick
Baby bee is Lafayette/Laurens, the one ash isn't. Why, same unhinged energy, probably braids their hair for fun, has a deadly spider as a pet (bbb has one but Lafayette and laurens didn't, Lafayette had an alligator he then regifted to John Quincy Adams bc he was like what the fuck do I do with is, and giving a spare alligator to the president is something I can totally see them doing)
Lylli (you probably don't know her as much, but she's an angel) gives like some heather McNamara energy and I think the character in Hamilton who is most similar to heather McNamara is Madison. Wrong side, but is a fucking cinnamon roll. Could kill you if necessary and has the kind of madness to do something stupid like buy prostitutes on accident (Madison) or eat someone as a joke (lilli) /j
Summer's mulligan. Underrated as fuck, iconic, the kind of friend who asks about you and then traumadumps once a month and you're like "how the fuck are you alive." Like that energy. Also mulligan was the only one of the hamilsquad to not cheat on his wife and I firmly believe summer would be the same.
Anon. Oh, anon. With K. George not being available, I'll probably have to assign him to Washington. But like the middle-of-the-war-historical-washington, not the one who had slaves. Like he'd totally adopt his aide-de-camps and tell someone "come here but be slow bc you're so fat if you run you're gonna turn the fucking boat around." /joke
And about the Schuyler sisters? well, who else than you, Bea, Ari and Veil? I'm not sure which would be each, tho, so let me explain myself.
Ari couldn't be Eliza, they don't have the same hopeless romantic energy you and Veil do have. So now she'd be either Angelica or Peggy. Angelica, as we know, is smart, a feminist, and also the middle point between super-romantic Eliza and probably-aroace Peggy. I think Ari is Angelica.
Bea, you're Eliza, kind of influenced by the fact she's your pfp, but also because she was artistic (she liked drawing), a good musician (she played the piano), a cinnamon roll, but she could also be a menace when she wanted to. Like, when she fucking dragged Monroe. Iconic.
Which leaves us with Veil as Peggy. And no, she's not "and Peggy," I've been reading (common sense by Thomas Paine) Hamilton and Peggy! by L. M. Elliott and let me tell you Peggy was not only a cinnamon roll like Eliza but she was also a feminist, smart and quick-witted girl as Angelica. She combines the best characteristics of the two in her own style. She was not as naive as Eliza or as impulsive as Angelica but she kept her own head up high
I'm behind on my writing schedule (I'm not, actually) but I want to write so I'm gonna cut it here and if I should do more people from our friendgroup tell me

Good Omens Season 3: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Sectumsempress1, Hag
Or that one time I watched Good Omens, felt the claws of hyperfixation sink into my flesh for the first time in years, re-watched Good Omens more times than I care to admit and then drowned in a mind palace of analysis and delusion, resulting in this season 3 predictions bingo card coupled with unnecessarily long explanations for each square.
I'm gonna post these explanations one or two squares at a time, and honestly my first theory (probably not mine, I'm sure others have also come to this conclusion) deserves its own post because wowee I'm insane about this one.
Let's talk about why I think Crowley may have been Jophiel or Jeremiel before they fell.
Tumblr media
I have seen endless theories about who Crowley could have been before The Fall; Lucifer, Barachiel, Raphael, Samael... and I see some evidence for all of these. However, I raise you;
Tumblr media
Great question babygirl.
Tumblr media
Okay me when I lie.
Yes, I took this throwaway line and went insane over it don't worry about it. Anyway. First J angel that I think could make sense is:
Jophiel "Beauty of God"
Jophiel is described in some texts as the guardian of wisdom and a teacher of languages to souls at the dawn of creation. She is also recognised as a teacher to Noah's children (specifically Shem) by C.E. Clement, Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa and Thomas Rudd.
Tumblr media
And yes I am aware this is post-Fall Crowley and not the angel they were, but it's interesting that Shem was mentioned specifically regardless. Neil has wounded me so, I just feel that nothing is unintentional. Anyway, any iteration of Crowley as a teacher just feels right based on all we've seen of them.
(How he acts with Muriel, answering Jim's questions, showing Jesus the kingdoms of the world.)
Jophiel is also heavily associated with beauty and creativity.
Tumblr media
Okay Mr. 'Pointedly Unusual Imagination.' Bit beautiful and creative of you.
Now here's where it gets buck wild. So Jophiel is not explicitly mentioned in the bible (in fact only Michael, Raphael and Gabriel are consistently mentioned) but scholars interpret Genesis 3:24 as referring to him.
"He drove out the man, and at the eastof the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and aflaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life."
Yeah. It is widely agreed upon that Archangel Jophiel wielded the flaming sword and cast Adam and Eve out of Eden. Now, obviously, in Good Omens canon, Aziraphale did this. But... what if that wasn't the original plan? What if, after Jophiel and the others were cast out, the work rosters in Heaven had to be shuffled around a bit? And what if Aziraphale, having met this beautiful, curious starmaker so long ago took on their role himself?
What if Crowley and Aziraphale began the arrangement long before either of them had the words to understand what it was? All because the angel couldn't understand why he felt so drawn to the Fallen who couldn't remember.
(Edited because I've already come up with a new theory. I still stand by all of this and want it to be true so badly, but I think that Crowley does remember. I think Aziraphale is the one whose memory may have been tampered with. That doesn't change the core of the Jophiel theory, I just think that upon reflection, a personal relationship with Crowley is not what caused Aziraphale to take his old job.)
It also makes sense to then make Crowley the Serpent of Eden, if they had perhaps already planned to go to Eden anyway.
Jophiel is also widely known as Metatron's companion, which explains why he is so aggressive towards Crowley in a really cold, personal way. Yes, Metatron knows of everyone and everything so him knowing Crowley's story isn't odd in itself. But the glare...
Tumblr media
To me, this reads as "I know you. I've known you. I know exactly what you're capable of and I will not take it. Not again. Behave." It's like a glare a parent would give their toddler for misbehaving in public. It feels pointedly personal. Almost as though they've worked together in the past in a way that ended badly for Metatron and he is on high alert to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Tumblr media
Again here. Metatron doesn't speak about Crowley in a general 'all fallen angels suck' sense. It's personal. His choice of words, the tone, everything points to him having been personally wronged by the angel Crowley was.
Also just look at Jophiel's goddamn curly little red hair are you kidding me right now Neil Gaiman I am in your WALLS.
Tumblr media
Also some more fun facts: Jophiel is shown as male and female presenting, leads people to a deeper understanding of the beauty of the universe, is regarded as an angel of wisdom, is known to protect those who seek truth, battles against forces of darkness and ignorance... and is strongly associated with the colour yellow.
Tumblr media
Nice eyes babe.
Anyway, I am so delulu about this specific theory because if it is true it would show Aziraphale and Crowley's grand cosmic connection in a way that is honestly just ineffable.
But however much I long for Jophiel to be it... there is also some evidence for it being:
Jeramheel/Jeremiel "God shall have mercy"
In religious texts, Jeremiel is known as the angel who presides over true visions, often appearing in dreams and visions to bring truth. He appears to decipher Baruch's visions and give him a tour of heaven in the book '2 Baruch', and God sends him to answer the prophet Ezra's questions regarding the apocalypse in the book '2 Esdras'.
He also served as an angel of death, watching over and guiding souls to heaven and helping them learn from their earthly experiences.
This again goes back to Crowley's belief that everyone has the right to answers and being a good teacher because of that. It would make sense for them to have had this role in their angelic days as well, despite it eventually coming back to bite them.
Tumblr media
Jeremiel is often depicted with a book or a scroll, symbolising the importance of knowledge.
Also, while Zadkiel is known as the angel of forgiveness and mercy, many people also consider Jeremiel (god shall have mercy) in this role... which would make Aziraphale's constant attempts to forgive him and his insistence that he is unforgivable even more devastating, and why I have ongoing theories about a role reversal occurring when it comes to this theme of forgiveness (more on this later).
Right. So I am obviously clutching at my delusion of it being Jophiel, but Jeremiel is a wider known angel with more canonical basis for actually being an archangel, which is why he also makes a lot of sense to me.
Thank you for joining me in this downward spiral into insanity. Look forward to part two!

On Six Word Sentences, #30 with Bo Sinclair or Thomas Hewitt, please!
If you want to send me a challenge as well, I'll write something. :3 You can call me Anon V so I'll know you're talking to me!
Oh that’s a fun idea! It’s like a writing exchange. Which characters are you comfortable with writing?
~~
30. “I can't risk losing you again.”
I haven’t written for Tommy in awhile :)
Warnings: Canon-typical violence, mentions of cannibalism, blood, gore
Tumblr media
Your hands shake so badly you can hardly unravel the gauze. Dragging your arm across your brow, you hastily wipe away the sweat dripping into your eyes. Your fingers twitch, the dressing tumbling to the floor and rolling away.
“S-Shit, shit, I’m sorry Tommy, j-just-just hold—keep holding pressure I gotta…gotta clean that first…” you stammer. You sound panicky even to yourself, your tremulous voice no comfort to either of you.
Tommy slouches on a chair in the dining room, broad chest heaving, bloody palm flush against the weeping gash in his side. It’s so deep, deep enough you can see muscle and viscera pulsing between his digits. Gore pools around the chair legs, your shoes slipping in it as you flit around the room.
How the fuck are you going to stitch this up? You’re not a surgeon, you can barley repair a hole in a sweater for fuck’s sake—
“Let-lemme see Tommy, I g-gotta w-wash it.” Your heartbeat pounds in your ears, so loud you can hardly hear yourself speak. Thomas’s own fingers tremble as you pull his hand away. This close, the metallic stench is so strong you gag.
As quickly as you can, you upend the bottle of alcohol, burning disinfectant washing over the wound. Tommy jerks and howls through gritted teeth. Useless apologies spill from your mouth.
Watery crimson pours off the edge of the chair and stains your jeans. As you watch it drip, a thought strikes. The unbidden question snakes it’s way into your brain as you shove gauze against the laceration:
Why are you helping him?
You should back away and wipe your hands on your apron as you watch him fail and bleed to death. Now is your chance. You would barely have to try. It would be fitting for Thomas to die in the same room in which he ate your brother.
You push harder, mangled flesh squelching under your fingers. Tommy emits another pained groan, his powerful thighs quivering in barely contained anguish. You swallow thickly, sweaty brows furrowing.
Trembling fingers find needle and thread. Steeling yourself, you push the sharp tip through torn flesh. Pull the thread through, pierce the skin just like fabric, again and again and again. Tommy hisses and grunts and cries but holds remarkably still as you work.
The answer to your question is simple: If Thomas dies, then nothing stands between you and Hoyt. Some fates are worse than death, and if Hoyt gets his grimy hands on you, you’ll experience this for yourself.
Keeping Tommy alive is vital to your own survival. You should thank your lucky stars the trespassers didn’t manage to land a fatal blow.
As if on cue, a shrill scream pierces the night air. Gunshots echo. Hoyt curses.
Tommy tenses and braces to push himself up from the chair, but your hand on his shoulder keeps him seated. You shake your head.
“No. Stay here, Tommy. I can’t risk losing you again.”
The chainsaw is heavy in your hands.

Chapter 56, Some Less Erroneous and Also Some True Pictures of Whales
Now that we're all on board with what whales don't look like, it's time to learn about what they DO look like and who hasn't failed at showing us! I will once again put most of the art under the cut; but I think one of the most interesting things that these two chapters show us are
how bad 19th century artists and scientists were at depicting whales - and in compiling this post I saw so many terrible whale drawings Ishmael didn't even call out. Ishmael was right you guys, the whale art scene was absolute chaos back then
most of the art ishmael calls out as "monstrous" is of whales themselves, depicted in either a mythic or scientific perspective. however *all* of the depictions he deems "less erroneous" are actually not of whales of but of whaling which feels like a crucial distinction. Part of it is because none of these whales are depicted in whole, which gets back to Ishmael's contention that it is not actually possible to accurately portray them on paper. Only individual pieces can be correct, but by viewing them together you get an idea of the whole. But it's also that he says flat out that the only reliable source is in fact a whaler; and so necessarily the accurate depictions are of whales already dead or engaged with whaling ships.
Anyway! Just some prefacing thoughts for you. Now on to some less erroneous whales:
William John Huggins
Tumblr media
2. Thomas Beale, The Natural History of the Sperm Whale (BEST)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. William Scoresby, An Account of the Arctic Regions
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally I think that calling this an accurate depiction is as hilarious as the empty boat flipped upside down in the air but I'm no whaler, what do I know
4. French Engravings (Peche du Cachalot) by Frederic Martens after Garneray
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. J H Durand-Brager, Balienier Francaise en Peche - The best versions of this I could find were in a German pdf (linked); I think these are what Ishmael was referring to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now if you're looking at these going "I don't see any whales???". . . . well, here they are. I feel like they're mostly less erroneous by virtue of being tiny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also it's important to me that you know that in my quest to find high quality versions of these, I found a site which claimed the painting on the left was called "Bringing In The Whale Whilst Others Look On Enviously" and while I don't know if that's correct (I don't think it is) it's a bitchin title and I will hold it as accurate in my heart.
And there you have it! Now we know what Whales Actually Look Like

Hey! quick question on the founding fathers affair post
I hadn't ever heard of affairs by Washington, Adams, and Madison (unless you're talking about the potential existence of the other Madisons descended from Coreen). I know these three are alleged, but would you be able to point to any additional info about this?
Not arguing :)
just want to explore this further
Oh of course!
Yes, the alleged Madison one is about the other Madisons!
Washington and Adams would be considered scandalous in the 18th-century but not so much by today's standards.
Washington was in love with his friend's wife, Sally Fairfax, and sent her letters confessing. There is a lot unknown about their relationship, however. Here is a little article I found on it!
Adams is also a question. They may have had premarital sex (*gasp*...scandalous). Their daughter Nabby was born 8 AND A HALF months after their marriage. Letters and diary entries from before their marriage contain stuff. My source for this is The First Family by Joseph J. Ellis. They're very wholesome :). Thank you John for not burning your letters like SOME people *looks at Thomas Jefferson because I'm sure there was much more scandalous writing there.*
I hope that helps! Happy researching! :D

Dreams
My son brined the Thanksgiving turkey this year, following a recipe from Thomas Keller, a famous chef he saw referenced on The Bear. It turned out really good, but since my mom insists on doing most of the cooking for Thanksgiving, she railroaded him on a couple of steps. He wants to do it again for Christmas, which is at our house. It's always at our house now, because my son's birthday is 3 days before Christmas, and back in the Santa Claus believing days, it made sense to have Christmas at the home base of the Santa Claus believer. He's rapidly approaching 17 now and barely believes in humanity, much less Santa, but we still have Christmas here. My parents and my brother used to come over here with as close to Christmas Spirit as any of them get when my son was a Santa Claus believer, but now, for the past 8 or 9 years, we've been accommodating my brother's wife, and not serving the menu we want to serve, and not having Christmas on actual Christmas. It sucks because I don't like her. My parents don't like her. J and my son don't like her. Sometimes I wonder about my brother, honestly. But we all cater to her at every family event regardless. Anyway all that was to say we're doing this complex, multi-step turkey brine again this week because our Christmas is on Saturday this year, and I had a dream last night that one of the steps was we had to find, or preferably make, a Caribbean steel drum to roast the turkey in, and it would somehow play music when it cooked. In my dream, I asked J, "How the fuck are we supposed to do that?!" because it was assumed that we were going to do whatever it took to accomplish what the Boy wanted to do. To support our kid. I told J about this dream this morning, and he laughed. Then he went to work and I napped on the couch since our son doesn't have to go to school early this last week of class before Christmas. And I had another dream. A different dream.
I dreamed about you again, A.
You weren't really dead. You're never dead in my dreams. You're in high school still. You're in witness protection and faked your own death (that was a good one, man...actually funny...your dad had your funeral at our high school gym and he took pictures and then sold them as souvenirs...you know...to prove to the Bad Guys that you were really dead when you weren't). You're just here, reassuring me that you're not going anywhere, like you were in my nap dream on the couch this morning. "Jen, I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere. I'm always here." You hugged me so tight in that dream I swear I could feel it. Almost slept through the alarm. Thought I'd start crying when I got up because it was just a dream, but I also feel this odd comfort because it's not just a dream either. Even when you were alive, I'd tell you if I had a dream about you (they were always fucking weird, but they were always you helping me with something), and you'd laugh, and then you'd say, "If you actually ever find yourself in *fucking weird situation*, you know I'd help." He would. He'd help us find or make a Caribbean steel drum to cook a musical turkey in.
I miss you, man. The holidays have been hard for a long time for me anyway. They've never really been great except for when the Boy was Small. But shit, now they are low key torture. I know you're not going anywhere. But I still wish you were Here.

The Rules
1: unless tagged #spoilers, any novel I post will not contain plot spoilers but may contain vibe spoilers or allusion to events; I may talk about what the story is About that the dust jacket or my own synopsis may not make obvious but I won't tell you who killed somebody or a cool twist
2: I'd I post a book here it is because I finished it and liked it, OR I finished it and need to untangle why I didn't. Novels I simply don't enjoy I don't finish anymore, as a rule, but I may break it if something about it compels me to finish it. I've only had to do it twice in the last year, but both novels were so antithetical to my enjoyment that it made me actually feel mad about trying to read them.
3: I'm not gonna rate them. I don't like ratings systems, I'm not gonna try to hammer something into a number, and forcing it is just going to be dumb. I did think about making a 7 point criteria list that if a novel met it I would declare perfect, but that's too much work. Maybe in a lull of books or something I'll hammer one out. If I do, one point will be "did it contain a character wielding a sword flicking the blood from their blade before sheathing it?"
4: no rereads. I have a bad habit of returning to old books series when I have so many books that interest me that I'd like to break, so for 2024 unless I need to for something wild like a series entry I'm not expecting, no rereads.
5: There's gonna be some nonfiction in here. I've got a couple of things at the top of my to-read list that are political or social in nature, but if you're following me or reading these you probably can attune yourself to my political stances to know what's up pretty quickly. That said, I'm gonna talk about social shit occasionally even outside of those, so idk if that's a big deal but, yknow.
6: fuck it, we ball
