so it starts with moleswift(DUH...) as pirates they were first mate and his captain (swifts) captain, they were probs looking for something to make them immortal idk fountain of youth pirates of the Caribbean core, they find it they drink from the fountain and mike dies almost instantly compared to norton and he has to get traumatized to see him die in his arms

Norton realizes he is immortal under the full moon like he's full skelly under the light, so he's just actually a dead man walking. Mike's dead tho but he gets another form of immortality (constant reincarnation)

Anyway, norton and every iteration of Mike throughout 500 years

< soul and sparrow - i think this was his ronald of ness era where he was still trying to hide the fact he was immortal so he kept changing his identity, the first ever time he met another mike that found in a barrel at like 19 years old.. maybe idk, sparrow grew part of his Golden Rose crew, during the whole time… and mike looked up to him as his captain.. until smth more… Ronald projected swifts the most on sparrow, and honestly ended up having to leave him when sparrow was realizing that norton wasnt aging at all since they met, he had to leave him bc he was having an existential crisis about being immortal and not aging at all anymore no matter how he tried to hide or ignore it, so he left sparrow (and the crew, basically fakes his own death.) this is when he just embraces his immortality at this point, after being kind of a recluse for a while

< cocoa and soul - maybe 100 years after sparrow, and hes given up trying to fake his identity, he has the face paint and everything, hes mostly known as soul now.. cocoa is the owner of an inn and he meets him every time he docks at his towns port, hes nice to him kind.. much softer than sparrow or swifts, but still as cocky and confident in himself (he notes that this mike smokes) cocoa lets him stay over whenever he wants to (hes trying not to get attached to this mike , so hes thankful for the fact that hes not a pirate or a sailor, just someone he can come home to any time, his light house per say.) he didnt have to do a painful goodbye with him, just a letter and the occasional sack of gold and jewels to spoil his favorite chef.

<pomegranate mike, and soul honestly pomegranate was probably part of a traveling merchant boat that got destroyed at sea, luckily souls crew was around to fish them out of the water, this mike tho wasnt interested in anything that he had to offer preferring the life of being free with his guild at sea or anywhere, he loved to entertain but staying with soul probably felt like a cage. he probably asked soul to take them to the nearest port, hes was a nice equally fun mike, but wasnt interested or too scared to commit to soul. (Wahh da one that got away) soul respects him, of course, but it cant be denied he was hurt over this. and he grew a little bitter because of it.

<cunning and soul.. - at this point 300 years passed already…pomegranate was the last mike he found and he didn't stay with him long and let him go without fighting because thats mikes choice man WHATEVER anyway, this is nortons sad emo boy era or as i like calling it weezer norton era. he became relentless, ruthless and his name was known through the seas, hes travelled the world at this point and his immortality has never failed him yet. he learned magic from patricia at one point, and now he has a crew of ghosts he necromanced into life to man his ship,- really kicking up the visuals in my head here but he has a literal ghost ship, its a physical ship but everyone on board is probably a ghost or a zombie (WHATEVERR MY AU MY WORLD BUILDING I SAY THEY EXIST.) anyway (onepiece reference i guess) when he saw cunning in one of the meetings for idk pirates or smth, tagging along with hollow (also a pirate bitch on his ass for the past years hes annoying as hell), he ws down right pISSED. (he hasnt seen a single mike reincarnation in 300 years, hes tried sleeping around getting over him, but NOTHING really compares to his soulmate.)

BUT anyway basically, in this au Hollow is looking for Alice (eternity whatever) and Soul knows where she is so he makes a bargain, he'll give Hollow Alice in exchange he gives him of of his most trusted men. (Points at cunning.) IF he gives him Alice in a pretty little bow for him, he can have cunning for himself.

Cunning is like "pft. Yeah right. You're not gonna find her before we do." And soul is just smiling (horny depressed and has been blue balled for years at this point, u don't know what this guy can do) so he just smiles.

Hollow, surprisingly agrees. "OKAY if u find her before we do I'll give my end of the bargain." Cunning is a little upset at this, but he's determined he'll find Alice before soul. (eermmm)

Soul wasn't lying about knowing where Alice was tho, so he kidnaps her and takes her to hollow. Like a sack of potatoes.

"Gimme gimme." smth like that and mike is so distraught about this he's crying, verbatim; " I don't want to be that bag of bones property- I'm not property " but he's already at souls shoulder and he's kicking and screaming. So it's just rough hostage core treatment for the first couple of months until he starts using the money he's been hoarding on mike to spoil him.

But anyway, after cunning dies in idk when, 🤷‍♂️anyway when he dies kay the next one and final one is quinlan, he's an immortal vamp/witch and hes the only mike who remembers every mike reincarnations memories, he knows that soul is out there looking for him but he doesn't care about that rn, in this life he's looking for his mom, and ignoring souls horny whale calling in the back of his mind until they inevitably cross paths BEC they are SOULLMATESS AUGRGRHSHAHAGGZ In my head the way they meet went like this "Mole."

Finally out of exam season and somewhat rested enough to post ! I've been able to play LM for like two days and here are my various thoughts in random order

While i wasn't sure about the artstyle at first (it looked super uncanny to me) it kinda grew on me and i don't really mind it anymore. It's still isn't my favorite tho, i'm more of an anime gal i guess

The personalisation is crazy ! The way we can pretty easily recolor every single piece of clothing ? The character maker ? Amazing. I'm in LOVE

Love the fashion game trend of having completely bonkers story (why is it that every character i get attached to dies ?)

Now that may be a translation issue but the pacing of the story tho... sometimes it feels like they're skipping part of some scenes ? Idk but time feels weird (had the same issue w/ LN)

The inspirations are v obvious. And not in a good way ? Like i don't think we needed a sims simulation in a fashion game.

Fresh and Pure keeps on getting confused in mission titles smh

Not fond of the fact that opening your guild is behind a 5$ paywall, certainly explains why it took me three whole days to find one i could enter (...and then its an indonesian speaking guild that i don't remember applying to...?)

Why would they take some random cat with them on a freight train? Because maybe it's just because I'm tired but all my brain is coming up with is to like, eat him. But then he wasn't as drugged as they would have wanted, and it wore off enough for him to escape off the side of the train before they did anything.

You saying he was drugged at a railyard with food did make think of something that might also work? Like the cats were on the train long enough for the conductor to notice they were there, but they kept changing cars every stop so he couldn't just scare them off. So he decided instead to put some sedatives in some food he left out for them, that way he could just pick them out of the train and leave them in the yard before he went. Only, because they're identical and he'd only caught glimpses of them one at a time, he thought there was only one. They fell asleep in different parts of the car, with Ingo being more hidden, so the conductor only saw Emmet, took him out, and left him passed out in the yard.

Unbeknownst to the conductor, someone hopped in the open car as it started rolling, leaving Ingo with some dude who was not prepared for when Ingo finally was aware enough to move around and start doing that horrible, guttural yowling noise cats do when they're deeply upset, because he was confused, didn't feel right, and couldn't find Emmet. And Ingo is nothing if not very very loud, so when he woke the person up by doing it in the middle of the night, they were angry and tired enough to just throw him out when he wouldn't shut up. Or maybe they just scared him enough to make him run off instead.

It takes Emmet a bit after waking up to realize what happened and track down someone who saw what direction it left in. I imagine the station was at a junction, so he couldn't just take off after it. To make things difficult for him and leave Ingo with more Main Plot time, maybe he comes to another junction, not at a station, before there's any sign of Ingo, so he has to ask wildlife or livestock in the area if they knew which new direction it went. When he can't find anyone, he knows he just has to pick a direction at random and hope he doesn't come to another one before he gets to a station where he can ask one of the cats there if it had come through. If it hadn't, he'd have to backtrack to the fork and try that one, ad nauseum.

As for Volo, if he's also a traveling cat (... are they made up of a mix of cats who guide other cats and cats who are sort of Ginkgo Guild equivalents?) but is kept a petty jerk, he could be the person who points Emmet in the direction his train went... but purposefully lies about it and sends Emmet off on a goose chase. Or maybe he's a station cat with a petty grudge against the traveling cats for whatever reason. Either way, it's not until Emmet exhausts his options of the closest stations in that direction that he goes all the way back and basically fights Volo until he tells Emmet the real direction his train went. Only for Volo to lie again, because how dare this cat attack him. There's three branches at the station's junction, so when Emmet is forced to come back again, he's able to tell which way to go just by process of elimination. He's fucking pissed at Volo, but also incredibly exhausted.

i honestly was just assuming they did it bc they're a sadistic dipshit tbh. some people are Like That. i DO think this idea scans way better tho, of emmet getting dropped off at the station but the person not realizing the gray cat on their train is actually Two Cats until ingo wakes up and freaks out and someone accidentally kicks/throws/w/e him out of the train bc having a cat howling like death and flailing all of its claws in your face is kind of fear inducing. and then they processed what just happened and were like :l it's probably fine right... cats land on their feet... right... i didn't just kill a cat right... well it's not like we can stop so i guess i'll never know haha

ONE thing that complicates that is non-cat animals usually don't speak cat, they have like, their own language. the badger was sort of a special case that went out of its way to learn cat to communicate with its neighbors, iirc. so emmet like, has to find other traveling cats, or he's sort of SOL on that front. i do like the idea of the guild being travelers i think that fits really well! even better if volo doesn't even mean to be unhelpful, he did tell emmet which way That Train went, it's just that. like. he didn't know ingo wasn't still on it. so emmet is gonna be chasing this one specific train for A While before he works out that he must have missed ingo somewhere behind him bc surely he's not still on board. and then he has to go all the way BACK. on FOOT probably. world's most frustrating goose chase.

one other thought i just had though, which is tangentially related to all this, is that maybe we could play off volo's canon role for most of the game? and have him be sort of like barley (i think that was the barn cat's name?), a sort of loner figure—WAIT LONER I THINK THAT'S THE NAME FOR NON-CLAN CATS I FINALLY REMEMBERED—who's very not affiliated with anyone, and just sorta hangs out in a spot that's kind of removed from the rest of the Action, and for most of the plot he just seems like kind of a dude. not super significant. he gives advice sometimes and will let you chill with him if you want but he's not involved in all this mess. and then towards the climax his true colors are revealed and everyone Realizes. what do they realize? im not sure yet.

actually hmm. if pearlstar and diamondstar ARE the like. founders/creators of starclan conceptually, you COULD have a thing where like. only clan cats get to go to starclan, and volo's bitter about that because probably he had a loved one or several die and never saw them again but oh sure clan cats get visions from their ghosts, because that's totally fair, so his goal is actually to like. jailbreak starclan so that ALL cats get to go to cat heaven. and he's doing it with giratina, to mirror the palkia+dialga upset of the main games. but also doing this in the way he wants to do it would also like, majorly fuck up future cats and he doesn't care about that, to make an explanation for why he's the Villain for that. idk. that's a thought.

actually maybe he just wants to send everyone to starclan right now? cause it's so much better THERE than it is HERE. hmm.

writing about my experiences w/ an MMO I have a weird relationship with, world of warcraft (musing to myself, opinions are welcome especially from seasoned wow players <3)

so there's a lot… of layers… to this… but I'm mostly going to be dissecting the sociopolitical aspect of the playerbase (and, stating the obvious, a lot of the old concepts and especially horde motifs are incredibly! racist and weird. and blizz hasn't really updated it… or made plans to retroactively fix things to be less jarring… GUESS ITS EASIER SAID THAN DONE BUT LIKE… blizz is a billion dollar game company so I don't Fuking Know Why They Havent Yet Man)

anyways, getting into what I wanted to kvetch about--

maybe this is like. just a socially abrasive autism thing like, overall, idk! but every time I attempt to get in a guild thats considered "bigger" (so like idk. 20 active, consistent members) I end up feeling like. very out of place and / or butting heads with ppl in the guild who suck (i.e. post weird shit and I say 'no thats not cool', are a proud ex military / active duty / cop lover, that type of thing) EVEN IN!! QUEER FOCUSED GUILDS WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN

if I had to guess it's because the bulk of WoW's player base is aging. and I thought there'd be more down-to-earth millennials to find a guild / do stuff with that wouldn't be hugely insufferable. but like. mayyybe I was being too optimistic about the playerbase of a very popular USamerican MMO that still has a lot of incredibly racist thematics that have pretty much never been addressed. THE ANSWER IS RIGHT THERE DUDE WHY. DO YOU THINK PEOPLE WILL BE BETTER THAN THAT :,)

it really blows tho, bc I enjoy my "haha silly cartoon MMO". it's well made. Blizz fine-tuned the shit out of WoW, especially with the latest expansion. but the playerbase still kinda really sucks. it's far, far less wretched than in 2016 (… I dare not repeat some of the shit I witnessed in trade / city chat during that year… there's a reason I always have those channels off in every MMO now…) but I overall feel like i will probably always be an outcast in any sort of guild community i attempt to be a part of fr.

the guild prior to the one I'm in really sucked shit and basically was forcing me to apologize for saying "cis people are terrible to me in front of my face at my job daily" and I wouldn't so I left. and then after I left (I said "no I'm not doing that and you should rethink what you're saying to me" and left. nothing crazy or dramatic even tho i wanted to curse all of them out) the fucking guild master DM'D ME!! ON DISCORD!! to further preach and chastise me about how "nOt AlL CiS PeOpLe" and it was so, so horrible and invasive. and I told her off THEN because how fucking dare you chase me into a private message like that after I left

my guild now is at least better than that. but I still just feel like. very. lukewarm. I grimace at a lot of it, and had to block numerous people on the disc server so I wouldn't "butt heads" with weird assholes on the server. but I feel like idk??? I have never had a guild where I feel comfortable and not fucking annoyed sociopolitically at. even in the LGBT+ friendly ones. and this isn't a humble brag?? im not trying to be like UGH IM SOOO WOKE AND TOO LEFTIST FOR THESE PLEBS it's moreso like… I don't want to block half your server bc you refuse to take a stand when your guildies do / say weird shit or are pro-military / pro-cop / racist

Its really nice how the Introduction starts with showing the different cultures in Calvard and of course that godforsaken Tower - not to self, trust your guts when a tower in a Trails-Game makes you feel like there must be something abnormal behind it! - as well as the fact that there are are dark things happening underground. It give you a clear first impression on Calvard.

Yumes, huh? I guess it is the best they could do, as he often calls her Yumebo or something like that. I am not sure about any of the voices just yet, given that I come straight from Kais Japanese voices, but I guess so far they are all acceptable.

I actually totally take it back Paulettes voice doesn't sound kind enough at all. In fact, she sounds like Bulma from Dragonball. I do like Bulma but... if you know her, you get what I mean.

Everyone should know by now that I was not happy about the voice they choose for Agnes from the very start. I feel like it should sound more quite if you get me. Its a too high pitched noise for such a calm, gentle and mature character.

What I always liked about Van is the fact that he isn't the kind of "does dark and shady work" - guy who drinks beer and smokes cigarettes in a daily basis, but instead, he is absolutely addicted to sweets, which makes it totally cute XD

We do get like 1000 Mira just for a missing cat - not to say that that is an easy mission but compared to what they have to go through it actually IS a lot easier - and I think that is also what he ends up charging Agnes in the end.

Japanese games are very evil for including those Kids in games. It remind me of Nanako in Persona 4. You can not not love them, especially if they have a close bond to your protagonist. So its like this Meme "I might only know her for a day but if something happens to her I first kill you and then myself!" XD I would not kill myself but don't you dare hurt her or you get to know Van AND me!

Its so weird, isn't it? This guy is dying in the same chapter he got introduced to us and yet for some reason Falcom found it funny to bring him back in Kai. I guess it was just for laughs as he isn't really a threat or anything, but it's still weird...

I am pretty sure he was impressed by that and her attitude. She looked like a spoiled little schoolgirl to him at first that would hide behind him if things get dangerous, but instead she showed him she was willing to put in some work and face some danger for what she wants. I think she left a good impression at the end of the day.

Watched it twice so far, spoilers below cut:

- totally solid ending to the show, made me so insane I had to watch it twice in 1 day!! Only real complaint is the lack of Brock, but they were trying to fit a Lot of characters into that movie (and Brock's been out of focus since s5 lets be real)

- invisible yuri!!🎉🎉🎉 seriously though Debbie was such a great character and she fit right into the story, kind of like Red Death in how she was introduced late and post-compound but really left a great impression.

- I never expected the follow that bikini concept to be more than a throwaway reference, let alone major plot fuel (and it works??? How did they make that work). Bobbi's whole backstory was so cool and intriguing, I swear all the vbros backstory could be its own show.

- some delicious fucking reveals- rusty choosing and wanting to have kids is just...idk it gives me a lot of feelings. He's horrible to them, but he Wanted them, and he wanted Both of them (they're fraternal twins: he chose to have two boys rather than ending up with two by chance, which kind of means a lot considering how hank was treated like the lesser brother- he still wanted dean AND hank), and he was raised the exact same way...auaua7a

- speaking of reveals, I'd seen the "the monarch is a clone of rusty" theory and I never thought much about it, just kinda assumed it wasn't true. Holy fuck

- that fucking. Gravity field sequence. Scariest shit vbros has ever done. Legit creepy. Fully thought Hatred was gonna die for a second.

- Hank...baby boy my love. He's so Hank. I don't know how else to put it. I love Hank.

- Oddly happy about the Dermott inclusion. He was never my favorite, but he's Hank's true friend and he did what a good friend would. He's such a product of the core of the show if that makes sense? He's Hank's connection to the compound/that part of the show (pre-NY and the brothers truly growing out of their bubble), but also to the world outside of the compound. Idk I don't think much about Dermott but he's really important to Hank's character and to the show.

-So glad they brought Ben back. He's such an underused character for how much knowledge and mystery he has surrounding major plot elements that never get fully explained. I mean I guess that's why they barely used him.

- Order of the triad brilliant as always, I'm so happy they had plot relevance again (lack of Al, but still). The big fight scene was so neat, and I guess it was the only real fight scene in the movie? Unless I'm blanking, there are other intense or action-packed scenes but no real fights. It's a very vbros move to put the only true fight scene in the finale smack in the middle for no real reason.

- "tube of lube in an orgy of evidence" Brock was literally insane for this one

- that scene though. I just liked that scene.

- Great end for the Monarch and Dr. Mrs. whole conflict. I'm glad we got Dr. Mrs. standing up for her choices, especially since it wasn't just in the context of how it affected the Monarch or her relationship to the Monarch. Everything she did she did because she wanted to, even when it was hard or a mistake. And the Monarch is screwed over by it, but that's not Dr. Mrs. fault, he's part of the Guild so the same shit would be happening. Them having a sweet little heart to heart at the end and Dr. Mrs. being his partner in crime for a (very silly little) arch is a nice way to end things.

- The animation varied so much scene to scene, like some scenes looked almost s3 quality while others were gorgeous. Kinda par the course for vbros tho

- Dean <3 my beloved baby boy dean. I don't know what to say about him, he was great, his desperation was great, yknow

- Sad that Hunter never got to retransition (lot of people have said this) but I kinda get it since the full finale takes place like 3-4 days after s7

- For the amount of characters packed into that movie, there were a couple missing. Only character I'm kinda sad wasn't in it was Molotov. Idk where she would've fit, I'm just surprised they never did anything after establishing that she was working for the OSI. Ik they hated writing her though so I guess that makes sense.

- the creators mentioned in an interview that they had to cut a Sirena scene, and they wished they could've kept it because they didn't want people to hate Sirena. I'm fully with them on this, Sirena screwed up, but she's young and fucking up is just part of being young. I'm a Sirena stan idk

- Orpheus in the Zardoz outfit 👍 Hank's a funny little dude for that

- Movies that make me more afraid of smart speakers than I already was

Bela hadn’t been to Newhaven since the government had picked up the slack on rebuilding after the invasion. When her help wasn’t needed to stitch the physical world back together, she noticed very quickly that certain people in charge were unusually cold. So she’d kept her distance. The things and people who had tied her to the city were beyond her reach now, and it hurt less to stay away.

Walking down the busy streets again was enlightening. Some people knew her, recognized her from news programs, but not all. It was nice to get lost in the anonymity of the crowd again. Of course, the reason she was here couldn’t be found with the sun still in the sky. 

So as the lights of the city flicked on and set their own glow into the sky, Weaver took to the streets. There were people here she was looking for, people she needed to check on, and as always, people to meet. Pulling herself from the ground to the roof and bounding from building to building was easy enough with pouches full of materials that could stretch away from her on a whim.

It was mostly luck she’d seen the figure in the darkness. Her habits of checking corners had remained after the invasion, but this wasn’t her turf anymore, and not knowing who ran the scene made things tricky. But a glance at the right angle as she’d been about to scan the next block over made her pause. A few more lengths of rock and metal rose from where she’d stored them as she touched down gently. Better safe than sorry.

“Well, it’s always nice to meet the locals. Do you mind letting a visitor tag along for a bit?”

Wait even better they should have to read something by the authors before they’re allowed to type their names. Like I guess Dazai stans will still exist Because everyone has read No Longer Human. Idk maybe for the more popular authors it should be a non ability work. Like The Setting Sun would turn a bunch of Dazai fans off because it can’t be read as as edgy as No Longer Human. And Dostoevsky fans should be forced to read Notes and Karamazov because none of them would make it through the 1000+ pages needed, I don’t say C&P because it’s the worst of the major Dostoevsky works. And like please read Vita Sexualis before commenting on Mori it provides a bunch of insight into his character and would make the haters much less unhinged, at least I choose to believe that. For the Guild the only one worthwhile is The Grapes Of Wrath, all of the other ones suck minus Moby Dick (Which I haven’t read). For DOA I haven’t read much of it but if you forced a Gogol fan to read Dead Souls they’d probably kill themself. Idk what else I haven’t read any of the hunting dogs. Oh yeah Aku Stan’s would probably be the same ish, he’s characterized pretty in line with his works, and Rashōmon is really good as a power in relation to its short story I could talk for a while about it. For Q, dogra magra is a really hard read imo and I haven’t been able to get into it. I’ve only dipped my toes into the Japanese stuff so I can’t really talk much about them, but Akutagawa is really well done. Him and Fyodor are really the only two who I think really fit their literary personality in their characterization. Dazai and Mori are also great but I have issues with how their written. They straight up character assassinated Gogol tho it hurts to see, russian lit no way justifies the clown stuff. Also maybe the top guy of the DOA is the War and Peace dude, which is a shame because the book is impossible to read. It could also be Nietzsche with the Fyodor connection. It would be really funny if it were like Marx or Kropotkin or some other socialist theorist but it probably isn’t. They also have the opportunity to do the funniest thing imaginable to the fandom and get permission to put Brett Easton Ellis in and permanently ruin the fandom

Considering you have a bunch of posts on empires pixl, do you have any thoughts on the phantom assassin?

i will admit that i certainly don't have as many on the phantom assassin as i do on pixl, since there's so little of them- we just don't know that much.

i do think what we know about them is really interesting tho! i actually went and rewatched (i believe) all of their segments to refresh my memory before i try to actually say anything intelligent on them, and we don't have a lot of concrete information on them but there's a fair amount that can be inferred from their behavior and dialogue.

they're clearly very invested in the safety of pixandria- their first appearance was of them fighting off pillagers since pixl wasn't around to do it, and they seem very familiar with the empire already, which probably means they're a citizen. thus far, all of their motivation as we've seen it is for, as they said, "the good of the empire."

beyond that, they also seem to have a very interesting viewpoint- they're against the corruption just as pixl is, but they also don't seem to have any love for pixl himself; they mention that corruption was already "festering at the empire's heart" as they're walking into pixl's main building, and though that's not particularly clear it's quite easy to guess that he's referring to pix himself. they also mention blood money, and the toll it takes on innocent people, and say explicitly that pixl wasn't "paying their debt" in blood money.

there's also something interesting in the fact that they place a candle on the vigil in pixl's color as they do so- we do not currently have a clear canon explanation for the vigil and the rituals and meaning thereof beyond the basics, especially when it comes to people who aren't pixl. we know that he's bound by duty to record the deaths of every emperor by lighting a candle, but that's about it- we don't know what it means for someone else (assuming this is someone else but we'll get to that later) to light his candle, especially since i don't believe it was corresponding to an actual, physical death.

my guess, without any other canon information and without trying to force it into my headcanon rules (although i'm very tempted to and i am ABSOLUTELY willing to discuss a bit about what this would mean in that context, so send me an ask if you want me to try, i'm just trying to keep this based in canon) would be that it's more of a spiritual death type of thing, like "you're dead to me." like, saying that pixl has essentially failed as king, and by killing the dragon and then leaving- not paying their debt in blood money- then he's essentially died in the phantom's eyes.

i also found their interaction with sausage super interesting! they definitely don't care much for him, considering they seemed to think that he took things too lightly and they also, y'know, shot him. but more than that their interaction is really telling about them- the first thing they said was "i heard you talk to demons" which i assume is just referring to xornoth and his connection to it, but that is quite telling in how much citizens (or at least this one, since we have a sample size of [checks notes] just them) know about the corruption and its source, even if there isn't something more to that. they also were talking about having witnessed many deaths as something that would qualify them to be in the guild, both caused by themself and others- there's a lot of interesting things that you can take from that, but it fits with what we know of their character being very dedicated to being a protector. combined with what they said earlier about innocents paying the price, it's actually really telling, and a super effective way to get their character across in a very concise manner!

they also have no qualms about killings sausage, clearly! partially, it's probably that they have no love for xornoth or for sausage, but it also does demonstrate some more interesting things about their character. they didn't go for the other ruler they've already been shown to dislike, which is pixl, and they also didn't have some kind of honor code that makes them want to make it a fair fight- sausage wasn't expecting it, and that was fine for them.

as for who the phantom assassin is, that's also an interesting question. thus far, all of the equipment or items we've seen them use seem to be things that pixl owned at the time- the elytra, the rockets, the diamond sword, a shield with the pixandrian banner- with the exception being the rocket crossbow, which i don't remember him having. (someone please correct me if i'm wrong on that)

there is also something to be said for the fact that during this period, his exile, pixl also didn't have a very high opinion of himself, and he's the only other character who we've seen with the same kind of dedication towards pixandria. they also haven't shown up since pixl returned from exile and was able to help pixandria more directly.

still, i don't think that the phantom is pixl. mostly it's the way they both behave- neither one seemed to have much or any knowledge of what the other was up to, with pixl showing genuine surprise when he saw the tentacles around pixandria whereas the phantom had already seen them, and the phantom also seemed at most only loosely familiar with sausage. on top of that, the way that the phantom was angry with pixl isn't the same as how pixl was upset with himself.

in general, it just doesn't seem to make sense with the way the story is set up and how they've both been behaving. pixl wouldn't go back and forth from exile and pretend like he wasn't, and there would be more narrative clue than just the items that they're the same, but there's not. i think it's much more likely that they are independent characters, and the phantom is a citizen of pixandria.

anything more precise than that, we can't really confirm with the amount of canon worldbuilding we have, unfortunately. however! i do not think the phantom assassin is out of the story, since there was no resolution to that subplot and mr riffs is a more careful storyteller than that.

...so it turns out i have more thoughts than i thought i did! hope that was interesting to you anon!

My guess is they'll add similar permanent features ("do something small each day, slowly raise chance to get the cookie over time with an eventual guarantee/pity to get that specific cookie") if this goes well, just maybe not dragon-themed. The precedent has now been set that Special cookies aren't only limited-time collab cookies anymore -- they're also ones that are obtained in notably unusual ways.

I imagine if Cream Puff was released now for example, under this she might also be a Special rarity cookie bc she's only pull-able from the guild gacha. But she was released a year ago, so.

Moreover tho: Snapdragon is their BTS replacement bc BTS turned out to be too good and too widely-used for a limited time Cookie (well, set of cookies). Sonic and Tails didn't reign for long in most areas of the game, but BTS remain a mainstay 6+ months later and are very good. This is why it's permanent, so that it's accessible to all players at any time. If other cookies end up the same way in the future, they may do this again; or they're planning on just adding more new permanent Special cookies over time.

Unfortunately Snapdragon is still not a nonstandard class (they're a Support class) and so for ToSC at least, they will never truly be as good as BTS; but, they are a suitable BTS replacement for all other areas of the game, and can eventually be maxed out.

((Also, once you hatch it, it returns to its base state and effectively starts all over again! It will simply disappear from the Lab once your Snapdragon hits 5A.))

Something I just realized, there’s no time limit on the Hatching the Dragon Egg, not to mention it’s being made it’s own place in the Laboratory, which implies to me it’s permanent

Which I mean, I suppose that’s good, considering that means we can technically just go at our own pace, but it’s also got me thinking

It’d be weird if they make this a permanent feature, but then only do it once, right? (Though I mean, I suppose I don’t know what it looks like after you hatch it, so maybe that could change things) So would they have other Dragon Eggs to hatch in the future?

I mean sure, having multiple baby dragons seems a bit weird and redundant, but why make it a permanent feature if it’s a one time thing?

Commander’s Log: Cantha, part 3

Alright still taking things slow due to time constraints. Really looking forward to this weekend where I can just play as much as I want. Anyway here we go!

So first off we decided to go ahead and finish up the rest of the Shing Jea map. It’s got a really cool sense of verticality but it’s so much more open than the HoT maps. There I feel like I’m constantly scrambling from updraft to tree branch to mount to glider to getting shot out of the sky. Here I can just chuck myself off a cliff and glide for minutes at a time enjoying the scenery and drifting along. It’s really chill

I only played the first bits of Guild Wars Factions but even so I swear I keep seeing little bits I recognize. I don’t think it’s the exact same place or buildings but I’m definitely recognizing names and inspirations. Can’t imagine what this is like for someone who was super involved in Factions.

The fact that I can’t talk to NPCs is still really weirding me out. To me it’s such a delight of discovering who you can and can’t talk to. I feel like every time I come back to a map after awhile I discover someone new to talk to. That combined with the fact that most players seem to have moved onto the later maps leaves everything feeling a bit…empty? I guess? It’s taking some adjusting.

Unchained! And they’ve got new animations and abilities! Honestly I kinda just assumed they were gonna re use the stuff from Siren’s Landing and I was perfectly happy with that. So it’s cool to be surprised like this. Love that they still have the same old voice lines. Somethings never change

Ok we got the map totally filled other than the glitched hero point. I saw in map chat that anet is aware so we’ll hop back and get it later.

Taking a break to poke at some character stuff. Both Scrapper and Deadeye got nerfed a fair bit, especially Deadeye. The ability Syrryl uses to regain health on critical hits has been cut from 10% to 4%. Over half. And my barrier generation has definitely been affected too. I’m having to heal a lot more often. This isn’t as big a deal for me, I’m very tanky to the point that I can get through major fights without healing myself at all, but it’s definitely hitting my boyfriend pretty hard.

Ok my boyfriend tried out Specter for a little bit and while it was fun to image Syrryl just deciding to learn magic, he ultimately decided to stick with Deadeye. We’ve swapped up our builds and play styles a little bit but this has definitely been a wake up call for me. When I first started playing I wasn’t a super great gamer. I’ve definitely gotten better but often times with Bertie, I’ll just planted him next to an enemy and swing my hammer til it’s dead. I’m having to be more mobile and strategic. The good thing is playing Mesmer and Elementalist has given me some practice with this. It’s really fun to use the techniques I’ve been using with Wardd and Biarr as Bertie. It does take a lot more focus tho.

While he was trying things out I went poking at some achievements. Mostly I wanted to see what it took to make the Mechanist’s Ascended weapon. And one of the things you have to do it defend a Void touched enemy.

Did some events. They’re really leaning into the mystery angle of things. We investigated a fake haunting and rooted out undercover Purity agents at a party. Also Anet really isn’t fucking around. They blatantly call the Purists xenophobic bigots and fascists and make it clear that the only way to deal with people like that is violence. It’s nice to see that continued from Icebrood Saga. Points at my Fix-r-Upper hammer: this machine kills fascists.

I also like that Taimi and Gorrick despite being in the same place for the first time in awhile aren’t immediately yelling at each other. I’m still mostly enjoying this plot line so far but I’m glad the writers have their priorities in order

But oh my god I don’t know why I didn’t consider this. The people of Cantha know who Soo Won is. Just like the people of Tyria knew who Primordus and Jormag and Zhaitan and Kralkatorrick were. Just because it’s a mystery to us doesn’t mean it’s a mystery to them! That’s so brilliantly straightforward! It’s such a good twist in our expectations! God I’m idiot! But I don’t feel stupid!

Ok so now I’m thinking that the Void maybe isn’t from Soo Won?? She doesn’t seem antagonistic but we only have her word on that. Like she’s feels surprisingly straightforward and not manipulative. She’s being very clear. But can we trust her? Cautiously I say yes and that why I don’t think the Void is coming from her. I think that whatever the Void is it’s the bad guy of this story.

There’s still clearly so much we don’t know and so much to learn but ahhhhhh ok ok all my expectations have been blown out of the water (lol) in the best possible way I’m so excited to keep going

So in Elaines storyline we died 2 freaking times and time rewinds. In Vans storyline, only some random ex-bad-guy NPC dies. And in Agnes story lots of our acquaintances die, just to torture is. However, time gets rewind. Makes you wonder tho, why time did not rewind when the NPC-Guy died if it does rewind when Friends and Teachers die?

Now that Falcom goes the more bloody way, they LOVE using a lot of blood and empty open eyes ^^'

Why would someone even plant a bomb in a school? Then again... School shootings are a thing too, sadly.

You know I've been the victim of bullying for a lot of years of my school life and it was really hard to get through those years and I at least somewhat get the feeling of wanting to punish the people who have wronged you... but I never understood why one would drag innocent people into it? So this guy felt wronged by Renne and that is why he wanted to hurt the student-council, but not just that they weren't responsible for that little problem that guy had with Renne but he also dragged innocent people into it. Seriously, if I get my revanche by hurting innocent people, then I am no better than the ones who bullied me. And this guy, to be fair, wasn't even bullied. He was an asshole and got what he deserved but couldn't live with it, which made it even worse. Because the only reason this guy had for revenge was his own ego.

UranoMetria: I added her to my stable of fav authors 05-03-2014. Wow. Eons ago and even if I’m not sure she’s still active in the fandom, I salute her. Kudos. 

The Goddess Gate: With six years of partnership, Natsu and Lucy are torn apart by a mysterious visit from a secret magic council. Lucy is kidnapped and her memories suppressed. She fights her way back home to regain her life - with a startling secret revealed as she begins to remember. The lives of all Earthland hang in the balance. **Okay, this is a wicked old fic - but amazingly written and fuelled my own desires for writing. Last updated in 2018 but who knows? Some current attention may slay any demons on her back in regards to writing - and even if not - the hours of enjoyment reading this is worth giving a comment just to say, ‘thank you for writing.‘ 

Wild Rhov: Do I even need to say anything about this author? Famous, famous, famous. Excellent. Writes a lot of pairings and fleshes every relationship into something REAL. I Can’t Even. @wildrhov  

Beastly Possession: Something is murdering people in Magnolia. When Lucy is attacked, Natsu goes on a rampage to find the culprit, and everyone in Fairy Tail wants revenge. But could this bloodthirsty attacker be someone they know? Warning: High octane nightmare fuel! Do not read while eating, and beware of red eyes in the dark! 

Shell1331: Introduced via Imp. This writer is in a few fandoms and is worth reading. @shell-senji  

Juicy: Impulsivity and poorly chosen words get Natsu into more trouble than he’d expected, which is saying something for him. 

AbsentAngel: Everyone should know this writer. Been stalking her since 2014 so that says something. Tho, it’s prolly just that I’m creepy. ;) My suggested fic here is being re-written/has been? into something original and worth being purchased when it becomes available and re-read over and over. No, I am not being paid to shill but I am open to having senpai notice me. @absent-angel
