I'm mashing together my review of totk and reactions to random encounters with the masterworks I've had lately into one stream of consciousness

Totk should have had true continuity, not a 6 year time skip that we never get to see, experience, and feel. It's not that hard to bridge 2 games with a 1-2 min cutscene, esp in a zelda game. Majora's mask starts with quick, but meaningful exposition that bridges OOT to MM! The intro to wind waker is a 6 minute long cutscene!! This series thrives with its detailed, intriguing intros, so what happened?? Before I even launched totk the night it came out, I booted up botw and replayed the final boss & ending because I was so stoked to see the transition in story/world and wanted to honor both games. Instead boom, we're walking in a cave w/ no context.

I was so disappointed that zelda wasn't a companion character to link in totk, it was disempowering to her character arc. Really thought this game would build off of botw's snippets of link & zelda working together in memories. The teasers and trailers for totk gave this perception that she would be there (which would also "break tradition" like devs wanted, ffs). When I was on the tutorial island I was fully convinced I'd be finding her and we'd reconvene like "ok what's next." When I realized 20 mins into the game that she was GONE gone, as in will not reappear likely until the end of the game damsel-in-distress-style, my verbatim thought "wait... really? Is this still going to be good?" Which was kinda sad, for a game I waited so many years for :/

I had major pet peeves with the copy/paste nature of the cutscenes with the old sages. The dialogue, bgs, pacing, literally all identical. They just hot swapped the character models for the sages and said that was good enough, wtf!!! I live for cutscenes in games, I have since I was like 5. This felt lazy, and seriously demotivated me from completing the dungeons bc I knew there was going to be nothing novel or intriguing to look forward to

The secret stones were gimmicky af. Sorry. Also stupid name, they couldn't even opt for "sacred?" Ik in other languages they have way cooler names, which would have helped. Link's fucking thanos glove of stones was a stupid gimmick, I cannot believe they didn't think to alter that concept to be more mythical, or creative, or just original. I would have killed for the stones to relate to the triforce in some way, or to do away with the stones and have this game connect to the triforce, since the whole direction of this story was going back to ancient myth & lore.

the Zonai lacked depth, and honestly just felt like a boring distraction even tho they were supposed to be a central focus of this game. I 1000% agree with other folks posts on the take that rauru was a flat, 2-dimensional colonizer. Sonia got sidelined. yikes. ew. no thanks.

^similarly, ganon really was given no character or depth imo. It's like they did a fantastic job making him visibly LOOK scary, so they didn't bother to give him motives beyond "I'm bad, I do what I want."

the cliche "back to normal" at the end irked me. Link could have come out with no arm, keeping the zonia arm, or at least scars w/ the zonai arm pattern and that would be meaningful. Zelda got factory reset from irreversible draconification in a method that for all intents and purposes, could have been done as soon as link got rewind ability. There was no investigation or inclusion of the other dragons, which seemed like a missed opportunity. Actively working on reversing her could have been a main quest in game!! Like 1. Complete all dungeons/get all stones, 2. you can now go round up the spirits of rauru & sonia and reverse zelda yippee, 3. you and zelda go beat the shit out of ganon together. The dragons fighting was beautiful, powerful imagery, but honestly I think too much potential was traded away just to execute that one fraction of the boss fight.

The masterworks book annoys me, which is sad bc I love concept art. I wanted to be a concept artist growing up, I can accept that you'll often see things that never make it into the final cut. I was enamored with early posts abt things like zelda's haircut, char designs, etc.

But more recently I'm seeing the anthology side of the book taking major liberties that it didn't even bother showing us directly or alluding to in the game, and I think that's such a cop-out. They are literally telling us instead of SHOWING us in the game they release a year ago, and spent SIX YEARS making. There was a festival celebrating the return of zelda/defeat of ganon?? Freaking show us that!!! Show us link & zelda acclimate to post-calamity life. Show us imperfect, non-linear healing and resilience. I would have loved a festival scene w/ link and zelda that conveys the nuance of celebration and recognition of their efforts, and the contrasting weight of what they went through. Show me zelda, exhausted after a festival struggling with guilt and indecision about whether to bring back the monarchy with hyrule's restoration. Throwing in a "oh btw imagine if we actually had done this" post-game makes me so irritated and feral. It's like the post-release canon is sidling up to fanon and saying, "hey look we can do that too! look at our fan art" idk if that makes sense, I don't think I'm explaining it well. But it just feels disingenuous.

I'm not a timeline purest, I don't need everything to interconnect, but I don't love how assertions in this book invalidate connections and lore of other games. Also really don't love how this game overwrites and sidelines the sheikah.

I know majority of my disappointment stems from my own, personal expectations of a game that, let's face it, was probably given many mandates and initiatives to appeal to *everyone* in broad, lackluster ways. I still love the world and characters of zelda, if anything, totk reaffirmed what I love and want to prioritize in my art that I didn't see present in this game. Fun fact I used the world of botw to learn a lot about drawing landscapes & composition. It actually inspires me a bit to try to learn to do comics, which has been a longtime goal I've been too busy and/or timid to pursue lol.

I saw the weirdest damn stress dream in a while. I woke up so exhausted by it wtf.

I was on my way to somewhere and I was going there by plane. I was sitting in the front seat, but the plane looked more like a bus. I kept forgetting all kinds of things, such as the seatbelt, and I was trying to put on my sunglasses.

The plane was still driving on the runway, and some woman in the plane started talking to the pilot/driver and asked him about plane accidents. He said most of the accidents happen on the runway and demostrated what kind of driving leads to them often. Which was scary since he was driving in order to get the plane into air...

At some point the plane stopped somewhere. It was like a really tiny souvenir shop but it was just candies everywhere. I was looking at the candies and trying to find something I could buy for myself, but didn't find anything I'd have wanted to eat so I left, because I was the last one and others were still waiting for me in the plane. I went back and sat on the front again. It also started snowing outside despite it being summer, and I was wondering whether it'd cause problems for the plane.

At some point the plane was "driving" in a forest, towards a slightly steep hill where there were also a part with a vertical side. Other were cheering for the pilot that he can do it, he can drive the plane up that hill and get it flying. Then I realized that I was actually outside the plane, I was sliding forward and floating in the air. It was like the plane would have glitched like a video game, the plane was going uphill but I continued forwards so I went "through" the plane's walls and was sliding towards the wall slowly. I think I tried to yell at them that they, I'm not in the plane anymore!

I think I then walked on top of that hill (it was probably just about 3-4 meters high wall) and I looked at the sky where the plane was flying. But it glitched, again. Part of it just came apart like bad graphics, everything from wings to turbines, and it fell and crashed. There was some sort of an airport underneath, but it fell next to it. I started running towards the airport and I guess I kinda just teleported there because next thing I knew was that I was inside that building. There were already people investigating the crash and trying to save the people that were in the plane. I found some cops there, I think we were in Austria actually, and I started talking to them in English and they took me seriously until I started explaining I was also in that plane but somehow glitched out of it, which is when the cops just started smiling and giggling at me because it sounded so stupid. So I decided to walk away and look for people who would believe me instead.

Next I found a hospital room and there were women that apparently were on the plane too, but they were all fine. All of them had their boyfriend in the room too, they had been in the plane crash as well and they were much worse injured but still more of had bruises etc. But they were doing worse then the girlfriends. Afaik everyone in that plane did survive.

Then it got more intense when there was some adult man, who was just. Insane. He was very violent and he was threatening and following his father around, he was saying so horrible things and his dad was just running away and trying to tell him that they're related, they cannot possibly do anything like that. There were also snow piles somewhere but idk why. I also remember hiding in a room that was actually a room in my parents' house, and I was scared of that man and I wished he wouldn't do anything to people he doesn't know. So I tried to stay hidden as I didn't really want to know what he'd do if he saw me.

I think I woke up somewhere here. The weirdest part of this dream was definitely that where I glitched and floated through the plane. I do remember thinking about, tho, that I was also extremely lucky because I could have died in that plane crash if I didn't glitch like that.

im back~ so school ended a couple days ago but BOY LEMME TELL YOU I GOT TEA. okay well i honestly don’t know the full story but tea is tea so lemme spill 😋

okay so basically my two friends who imma call 🦶and🫄 are best friends but 🫄 used to be my best friend until 🦶 stole her from me last year

so they’re like those friends where if 🦶is mad at someone then automatically 🫄has to be mad at that person too or else 🦶 will get mad at 🫄

AND FOR SOME REASON 🦶 GOT MAD AT ME⁉️⁉️ like imma be fr i dont even know why she’s mad at me bc the last time i talked to her was on May 19th and we were perfectly fine but then i sprained my ankle and didnt come back until like a week and a half later and then suddenly shes mad at me?

so the way i found out 🦶was mad at me was because i was tryna talk to her but she was just ignoring me so my other friend who imma call (N) was like “hey 🦶 bambi is tryna talk to you” and then 🦶 is just like “oh i know” LIKE TF⁉️⁉️ so then (N) and i just look at each other and shrug our shoulders cause we don’t know wtf is going on with 🦶

now fast forward like a week later i still dont know why 🦶 is mad at me and now 🫄 is ignoring me too and none of our other friends know why they’re mad at me. and even tho they’re mad at me they still hang out with me and the rest of our friends at lunch they just dont talk to me and then 🦶 offers some chips to (N) and our other friend (B) and she sees me looking because i was sitting next to (N) and she says “Y a que te mires?” which means “what are you looking at?” so i just said “nothing” and she rolled her eyes then called me a bitch 😭 AND WE HAVE THIRD PERIOD TOGETHER SO I HAD TO SEE HER THERE AND SHE KEPT GLARING AT ME DURING THE WHOLE CLASS LIKE⁉️⁉️ also whenever she gets mad she doesnt tell people why shes mad and just expects them to figure it out?? like shes done this before and i’ve had to apologize even tho i didnt do anything wrong

so now lets go to the last day of school so im hanging out with (N) and (B) again and ofc 🦶 and 🫄 are there too with our other friend (M). (M) and i have always been close so i was talking to (M) and she was standing next to 🦶 and then when im talking i hear 🦶 say “no vale verga” which is kinda like “i dont care” but in a mean way so then (M) just looks at me and is like “i dont know why she’s acting like that just ignore her” so i did and then when i get home i decide to check (B)’s location bc she was supposed to come over and i notice 🫄 turned off her location and she only does that when she doesnt want to be friends anymore so im like oh shit because even tho shes not my best friend anymore like we were still friends so yeah now 🫄 isnt friends with me anymore 🧍

I’m fully determined to get Leonardo’s Vampire Academy card.  I got Arthur’s and I don’t want him

And so me and @blackjacks-babybbc my bestie tbh start talking about them in like sorta a boarding school.  School AUs are my all time favorite, so get ready for some bullshit

Starting off, Arthur, Theo, and Leonardo are the fuck bois of the school.  Plain and simple.

Mozart, Sebas, and Comte are a lil more classy, aka just because it breaths doesn’t mean they wanna fuck it

Isaac and Vinc are precious beans.  They’re the guys you have a crush on bc they’re too damn cute and something about them not being fully masculine makes you drawn to them

Dazai is always getting into trouble.  He’s a smart kid but simply doesn’t want to be there

Napoleon and Jean are all about sports

Will hates every class but English/literature, occasionally he enjoys history he’s not sure if he hates gym or math more

Leonardo, Comte, and Isaac are in the top of the class, but yet you never see Leonardo in class??

Leonardo and Isaac do so much extra research on their own time they ended up correcting the teacher occasionally, some of the other students hate them bc of that.

Vinc is always doodling in his notebook and has passing grades, nothing spectacular, but if you’re ever looking for him look in the art room, he’s trying to get better with the pottery wheel

Arthur showing up to class??? Unheard of. But you always see him doing school work or reading a book.  Pretty sure he just lives in the library and not in a dorm.

If I had to say who I think would be about parties/drinking/drugs I’d say Arthur, Theo, Dazai, Leonardo.  

Comte, Napoleon, and Will would go to parties, and somehow Mozart gets pulled along, and he’s like “fine, but I’m going to complain the whole time”

Now for juicy bits

Comte and Leonardo have a thing for each other but keep it under the radar, not wanting the other guys to know

Leonardo will pull Comte under a staircase and start making out with him between classes.  Leonardo is needier than Comte and can’t always wait until later in the day at the dorms to be with him.

Leonardo also has a thing for Theo, but assuming Theo is straight he doesn’t do anything about it until they start drinking at a party.

Turns out Theo and Arthur fool around a lot.  Going to each other’s rooms occasionally.

Imagine Theo dropping by Arthurs room, kissing him as soon as he’s in his room and Arthurs like “I really have to finish this essay, its due tomorrow.” but Theo’s not leaving.  He says he can wait til he’s finished, but that doesn’t happen.  Arthur would go back to writing and next thing he knows Theo’s giving him a blowjob and he can’t concentrate.

Comte and Leonardo are in a relationship, so it's not like Comte is gonna do something with Vlad, but Leonardo is possessive.

I’d like to imagine Leonardo would pull Comte into a janitors closet because he’s just way too horny in the moment and he’s very needy.  Normally Comte would tell him that they should just go back to the dorms, but Leonardo got him too much into the mood to do that, so to the janitors closet it is.  Keep in mind no one knows they’re together.  And after a few minutes the door opens and its Arthur and Theo who were also about to use the closet and Theo goes “Looks like it’s already occupied”  Comte would end up throwing something at them and shutting the door.  He’d be really flustered after that

Faust and Leonardo would slightly get along. They'd be the two to get into a heated debate in class.

He’s almost never in class, and his grades show it.  But you always find him in an odd spot reading some classics.  He got really into the British Romantics at one point, then moved to American literature.

You can almost always find Will, Dazai, and Arthur in the library.

Arthur will make a comment about a book to Dazai and Will overhears and jumps in, going against Arthur’s comment.  The three of them hella analyze books wither its for a project or not.  They end up getting into an argument with Dazai in the middle doing commentary like “oo, he’s got a point” “Ha!  He’s got you there”.  Depending on the book they are able to actually quote it without reading it

The library isn’t a quite place when the three of them are in there

 Will and Charles end up in the balcony a lot together and Will is normally up there reading, which got Charles into reading more because he would ask Will what he was reading, and what it was about and sometimes Will would answer and sometimes he would say “Why don’t you read it to find out?” and so he did.

What does Vlad do around the school?  No one really knows.  He ends up pissing a lot of people off, and has nearly gotten into a fight or two with Leonardo until Comte got in the middle.

In my high school we had a debate team, but they had to get rid of it due to one REALLY heated debate, which was about wither or not cereal is a soup.  I’d like to think of the writing trio arguing about it.  Arthur says its soup, Will says it isn’t, Dazai is like “look, I eat my cereal dry but i know what you mean”.  Then the entire school is talking about it.

third, DANCE! callum not being rude and saying her home is “modest” before rayla explains it’s an illusion, his BLUSH WHEN SHE HELPS HIM, and the softness in general. rayla’s excitement that she’s home and talks abt that she can show callum where she went to school, the best moonberry surprise place, until...

fourth, AH FUCK. A N G S T T I M E. rayla being crest-fallen before callum says that it must’ve been a mistake, and she realizes that ethari would probably understand!

and then CONFIRMED GAYS. YES.

rayla realizing ethari ghosted her too and then callum GOING O F F. he angy and when rayla runs out callum IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWS (like in a later episode) and comforts her again.

first, rayla clearly being sad and callum picking up on that quickly (he even seems to be almost falling on purpose, perhaps to make her smile?) and asking if she’s ok before being shot down by rayla insisting she is fine. GOD DAMN. THAT HURTS.

second, their interaction with nyx is so amazing. rayla being protective of zym and callum being a DORK is awesome, but also their decision making.

after rayla reluctantly decides that they can go see how nyx could get them across the desert so quickly, they see the ambler and then their reasoning is amazing.

“what do you think?”

“the dragon queen is dying.” and then i forget the rest of the exact quote but they give a subtle nod to eachother. they make their decisions TOGETHER. AS A TEAM. AND THAT’S ON HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS X2!

third, callum continuing to gently press for rayla to express her emotions. he doesn’t pressure her, but seems to simply let her know that if she needs to talk (when she insists she’s fine), he is there.

although their fight is super angsty and i hate it, it does provide some conflict and more plot because it gives callum a reason to want to find out the truth about rayla’s parents. and then he does! people argue that this fight was unnecessary or that callum was a jerk, but this was needed i think. he did let his worry become a bit of anger, and that was not a nice move, but he knows he fucked up and fixes it!

and then we get soft rayllum this is fine

I have one idea, but it’s.... kinda dark? Jin Ling gets erased out of existence?

Hmmm I said no sad, but it’s like crack-sad so I think it’s okay.

So, this whole idea started when I thought “what if jingyi & zizhen, the ultimate matchmaking team, went back in time and unknowingly got yzy and madame jin together?”

Then I realized, “what if that made a big oopsie?”

Anyways, this is the “oh shit, i screwed up” kinda time travel AU. Be warned.

Jingyi and Zizhen are in the Cloud Recesses library, reading through some random books, when they stumble upon one that looks older than Lan Qiren. One of them is a journal, documenting a time traveler.

They read it, and it’s super cool! Fun! Woah!

Jingyi, thinking it probably won’t work anyway but hey, why not try? tries the tailsman with Zizhen.

Suddenly, they’re back in time.

But they don’t know that & thought they failed.

Just then, an uNknOwN Lan disciple walks in and demands to know wtf they’re doing there at this time of night!!

Jingyi is confused, bc who is this strangely familiar disciple? A new transfer?

He voices his ?? and is met with “I am Lan Qiren. Why are you imposters in here? Where did you get that ribbon?”

He’s droning on in true Lan Qiren fashion, and Jingyi and Zizhen kinda look at each other because hOLY SHIT THAT ACTUALLY WORKED!!!

They immediately get tf outta there (guess it’s their turn with the brain cell) and start checking out all the differences. Zizhen deduces that they should be forty or fifty or so years in the past, since LQR be old.

They’re wandering around for a couple days (future tailsman in Zizhen’s pocket) and have fun exploring all the different stuff.

And then, Jingyi realizes that the Wens are kinda alive. And he has a moment, where he realizes they could bring Sizhui back here!! Surely Sizhui would want to learn about his past, right?? This would be the perfect opportunity!

He may or may not have bought a Wen(tm) jewelry for his very platonic best friend, but we don’t talk about that.

And then, they meet a rando young woman practicing her sword fighting. Zizhen thinks that she feels familiar, but has no idea why.

The juniors approach her, and ask what’s up, because she be really murdering those dummies.

She introduces herself hesitantly (she’s a little sus of them), as Yu Ziyuan.

Zizhen & Jingyi definitely failed their history tests, because they don’t know who she is, only that she’s very gay for her friend.

And Jingyi and Zizhen hatch a plan to help this rando stranger who certainly isn’t important to the plot or anything get with the girl!

And bOI DO THEY TRY

They help Ziyuan out by suggesting flowers, sweets, even give her a template for an undying love confession!

She’s kinda cold towards them at first, but Ljy and oyzz shan’t be hindered! They persist, and she eventually asks her friend to elope with her and escape their arranged marriages.

Jingyi gives Zizhen a side eye like “whoops” but also cheer as they ride off into the sunset!! Woohoo!

Then they go back in time, and... oh boy. Shit happened. Time rippled. The universe was changed.

Because Jingyi & Zizhen may or may not have erased Jin Ling from existence by getting his grandmothers together.

Because then those two ditch and jc & jyl are kinda not alive, though wwx still gets taken in (and maybe they pretend he’s jfm’s child so jfm can make him sect heir??)

And ljy & oyzz are shook.

And then they freak out and go to the only sane, responsible person they know: Lan Sizhui

bEcaUse sUreLy hE wOulDn’T bE diFferEnt

Actually, they search the whole Cloud Recesses, but he’s not. there. And Jingyi asks the now-old Lan Qiren, who has no clue who Sizhui is.

Then Zizhen has a brain cell moment and remembers, oh wait, wasn’t Sizhui a Wen??

They look at each other and bolt towards the Nightless City, which is not dead bc plot convience and. Maybe yzy and madame jin started their own sect and they saw through the Wen’s bs? They’re still alive tho

And Sizhui is an innocent bb farm boi in the middle of nowhere 🥺

COUNTRY BOII I LOVE YOUUUUUU

Jingyi literally tackles him into a hug and Sizhui freezes bc who da FUCC is this

But even in this timeline, he is :)) so he just kinda asks, v. politely, “who are you”

But then he sees Zizhen and lights up

“A zhen! What are you doing here?”

Sizhui smiles shyly and kisses Zizhen on the cheek and ljy & oyzz both have whiplash

bc this is time for my zhuizhen agenda and they be dating

they have to somehow convince Sizhui that they’re from a completely different timeline

And it’s really confusing until Jingyi just starts listing off everything he knows about Sizhui, bc he is not giving up his status as Sizhui’s best friend just bc they’re in different timelines.

& the stuff Jingyi know is... a lot.

“Your favorite color is white, you hate herbal tea, you think that putting your hair down is a hassle, and when you were twelve you thought you were cursed bc two of your rabbits died in a week and placed stone tablets near every door in the dorms—”

Sizhui is kinda shook so he goes with them, though he doesn’t believe them at first. And he ain’t letting his bf (oyzz) leave immediately :/

Sizhui helps them with the ritual, and lets them leave. Then, he goes home to his peaceful farmer boi life, confused. 

They have better luck next time they go back and don’t help anyone. They don’t do anything extreme, and they don’t do anything! Right?

Yeah no, cause zizhen sees this little, dirty child out in the streets and goes uwu and gives the child some money (and maybe a motivational speech?? life changing??).

That child grows up to be Jiggy, bc ofc ofc, and he and his mom manage to use to money to leave (I mean, sect heir oyzz has to have a decent sum, and it was worth more back then). Jgy becomes a respected vendor, hating his dad like every other child of jgs but still living da peaceful life.

So he never helps them with the Wens. And the Wens may or may not win. (honestly I don't remember the plot of mdzs, so this is probably inaccurate. I gotta reread it; my memory’s trash lol)

A lot of people get dead. Zizhen is horrified.

This time though, WQ and WN stole baby WY and left. The Wens,, didn’t really care (maybe they noticed wq left, but they have other, not as competent, healers). 

They seek refuge, but the Cloud Recesses is kinda burnt and the Jiangs ain’t looking so hot either (plus that ain’t a good idea, jc is probably not ok with that)

They don’t bother to check up on anyone this time.

Zizhen and Jingyi go back to the past, stare at each other in true mamma mia, here we go again fashion.

But this time, they dig a hole in the ground and hide there for a couple minutes, before finally, finally, finally going back to the future

And it’s fine, except they screwed up and ended up a little too far into the future.

Like, as in they accidentally time travel to Jin Ling and Sizhui’s marriage fast-forward.

Revelations are made, and this has somehow worn even Jingyi to the point of exhaustion (also, is there any world where he gets to be with a Yuan??)

So they go back several years, energy depleted, and end up right where they started.

Zizhen and Jingyi look at each other, and have a mini-celebration because they did it! They got back and everything seems normal so they’re gonna assume it’s their timeline.

On their way to burn the magical time travel book, they bump into Wei Wuxian.

Zizhen asks how his husband is doing, and they find out that WangXian hasn’t gotten together in this timeline yet.

Jingyi screams, and Zizhen goes to cry in a hole. They’ll be okay. Eventually.

dunno if i’ll be able to finish this. but so like dabihawks au where like. dabi does his research aka when he was touya he was with his dad once during the whole takami thief thing and met keigo. flash forward he doesnt believe a thing about this hero hawks. sees him for the fabricated person he has become. and eventually hawks sees dabi for who he really is and was and like vigilante-ish dabihawks. bits about the au and the snippet i wrote under the cut.

hawks feels fake. doesnt rlly know who he has even become

the commission kinda forced a lotta habits out of him and completely molded him into who they want him to be

he barely even finds his name to be anything more than a stranger’s name at this point. 

anyway so dabi p much knows who he is. does his own digging. and kinda puts some pieces together and sees how fake hawks is

hawks barely even knows if he shows any genuine emotions at this point. he’s kinda at a breaking point where he cant recognize himself and separate keigo from hawks. feeling like hawks has just swallowed him whole

he does show genuine things though. sometimes says or does shit out of line but he tends to have obedience beat into him even if he sometimes has a bit of a mouth on him. it’s mild tho

at the start of dabi working w hawks, hawks was very careful

it kinda progressed into keigo coming out more around dabi even though it was in bits and pieces

anyway dabi puts two and two together and realizes him and hawks are pretty similar and instead of seeing him as a traitor (though he’s sure that he’s not 100% on their side) he sees him as someone who can fit in with the misfits and he can p much fully convince hawks to ditch the bs

so the confrontation happens (see ending snippet) and hawks is like wtf just happened

and p much eventually there’s some tender moments between dabi and hawks and hawks ends up explaining how used he’s felt

he has been molded into the perfect obedient soldier; maybe sorta kinda explains that the commission is having him do double agent duties and instead of reacting badly dabi is p receptive and doesnt just try to kill him. instead he can see how badly hawks wants to break out of his cage and fly free and he deeply feels for that and knows how that can feel and is like aight well fuck them

so hawks kinda double agents on the commission?? 

and he does end up meeting the LoV and like sees how human they are

but also he’s like damn son but okay i dont agree w everything

and dabi is like yeahhh same ??? idk they are a means to an ends for me but also not lmao 

and then there’s some dabi spilling his guts as they get closer and get more intimate and very much boyfriends

and hawks is so livid and he cant help but fuck around with endeavor the next time he sees him. and like he’s just so much more distant to him. he can’t begin to wrap his head around it. and he’s so broken that like.. the one person that he saw as his true hero. that “saved him” is a horrible person behind closed doors

the one person who he was inspired by and agreed to join the commission’s forces for is just horrible

there’s just a lotta solidarity between hawks and dabi and a lotta shared anger and hurt

and they’re boyfriends and it’s great but also like hawks isn’t a horrible person

neither is dabi ??? i mean listen they’ve both killed ppl. they probs will continue to kinda do it. but it’s always just horrible ppl

like listen killing ?? not great folks??? but also like idk man.. 

they also def leave kids outta this 10000% 

anyway p much they end up ditching the LoV too. try to get some of them outta that shit. like toga who has become like a sorta lil sister for dabi in a way

At this point, Hawks wasn’t so sure he was even real. His existence felt fabricated. Each smile or joke carefully placed. Each movement was calculated. He didn’t act out of line. His interviews were carefully thought out months in advance if not lies that he himself began to believe after years of telling them. His penthouse had just enough “personal” touches that when he had a spare moment to invite someone over it actually seemed like it could be a home. Hawks’ original motivations were squashed and were pushed aside unless they created an interesting story. His natural mannerisms that came with his mutation quirk were learned to be suppressed. Hell his own name sounded like a stranger’s to his ears. That is if anyone even knew it. 

“Is there anything real about you, hero,” Dabi spoke. His back wasn’t fully to Hawks, left side presented to him as he set a framed graduation photo down and fully faced the winged hero. Dabi stuffed his hands in his pockets and tilted his head to the side some, waiting for an answer. Hawks snorted and gave him an unamused look.

“I’m as real as they get, hot stuff.” He kept a casual air about his words, hands spreading out in surrender. “Not sure what else you expect.”

Hawks was on edge, but he wouldn’t let the villain know it. They were supposed to be meeting soon, but once again the villain pulled something unexpected and had been waiting for Hawks in his own apartment. Hawks’ feathers twitched slightly, sharpened edges ready for the command if it came. Dabi leveled him with an unimpressed stare. There was a moment where their gazes met in an intense battle, though Dabi’s look softened as he broke out in a lazy grin.

“Y’know... You might be just as much of a mystery as I am, Pretty Bird.”

“I think I’m a pretty open book myself.”

“I think you like to let people think that.”

“And I think you’re just trying to fuck with me. Can we just get to what you came here for? I had a looong day and kinda wanna get some food and some sleep.” Hawks punctuated his words by stretching his arms up high before shedding off his coat, goggles, and headphones. He tossed the coat over the back of his couch and dropped the gear onto the end table. He hoped Dabi would just drop this whole line of thought, take this as some sort of submission, and be satisfied enough to leave. 

Wrong.

“Oh, we can get to that later… You, on the other hand, are much more interesting.” He moved closer, hands coming out of his pockets as he crossed the room to stand a few feet from Hawks. 

“I’d love to be a great host and entertain you, but unfortunately I wasn’t expecting any guests today.” Hawks crossed his arms and watched Dabi carefully, eyes narrowing some in challenge. 

“That’s too bad. You know, I’ve been doing some research on you. I don’t quite think you are who you say you are, Hawks.” The winged-hero tensed just ever so slightly before forcing his muscles to relax some. He didn’t like the way things were going. While Dabi’s fire was his ultimate weakness, he’s sure that he’s fast enough to put a sharpened feather to his throat and end this all here and now than Dabi would be if he wanted to put the spy to an end.

“And who do you think I am then, Dabi?” He raised an unruly eyebrow. His primaries ached to shoot out and end this, poised at the ready.

Dabi blinked slowly, bright turquoise eyes disappearing for a moment before shining under heavily lidded eyes. His grin stretched a bit wider, tugging on where healthy skin met the grafts. 

“I think you aren’t the hero you put out there… Or the person you say you are. You like to say a lotta nothin’ don’t you?” Dabi stepped closer and Hawks’ fingers twitched but his arms remained crossed.

“I think you like to pretend to be this airhead bird. Like to use that name. Like to look like you’re the perfect little hero... You’re good at it, too. You aren’t though, are you… Takami Keigo.” 

Hawks had a primary feather in each hand, on pressed to Dabi’s throat. It pressed in just enough to draw some blood from the marred skin grafts. He could feel the heat radiating from Dabi’s skin and particularly from the small flames in each of his palms, but the villain made no move to use it against him. He just continued to grin. 

“What’s the look of surprise there, Birdie?” Dabi purred. 

“How do you know that name?” He demanded, crowding further into Dabi’s space. 

“Like I said, I did my research. Now unless you want to end up on the crispy side of cooked, I’d ease the fuck up,” Dabi’s voice took on a slight bite towards the end and his grin lessened. “And here I was going to tell you that you can meet the boss finally. Thought you might be real League material.”

Hawks instincts and mind screamed to press the sharp feather further or at least hold his position, demand answers. His judgment told him to ease off and soften the feathers once more. Hawks didn’t move too far from Dabi, though the primary feathers in his hands softened and returned to his wings. The heat radiating off Dabi died down along with the flames in his hands. Steam left his skin as he killed the flames. 

“Much better… We don’t want any incidents like that when you get to meet the boss, right? You’re lucky I’m a lot more patient.” Hawks wasn’t sure what this was all about but didn’t argue with him on that point.

“Glad to see your fake little hero persona is starting to crack.”

I had the WEIRDEST fucking dream aight? But it was kinda fun, so here it is!

I was waiting outside class as i usually do and my friends who i sit with where there! And 2 peeps from my former grade.

So i had my nintendo switch right? And I (irl) bought Undertale not so long ago, so i was playing that. I was fighting sans and it went suprisingly well, i thought for a second: "Wait a minute, this is not the REAL sans boss fight!" So i looked at it and it was a little odd, but i figured what else would it be and carried on. I also showed it to one of my former classmates (who loves megalovania cuz i showed it to him irl) And he was impressed so that was fun!

Idk what happened after we waited tho (Its a blur sir!) but then I was on my way home from school! It was not my neighborhood and i remember that the sun was setting when my friend (who usually comes and greets me on my way home irl) came up behind me and Convinced me to go home with her! ( Lets call her maya)

So we walked to mayas house (that did not recemble her real house in the slightest) and like made pancakes? But then we sat on her balcony and talked for a long while. The setting was beautifull, the sundown, the houses, and the pancakes where good! Idk what we talked about but it was really intimate and sweet. 🥺 We laughed and she smiled, we had a great time!

But then its a blur again. Idk what happened but i was some sort of student at a biology academy? And im pretty sure i was jason bourne. Well, looked and had his name. I remember being kinda akward and shy.

So I and my instructor (who was some sort or random nice woman) showed me around the facility! There where a lot of weird animals that were like SUPER SECRET so i felt kinda like a spy >:) But when we where at a forest/jungle biom there where a sight of the creature next to the one we where seeing! It had s BIG ASS WHALE FIN and then MAYA appered out of nowhere and was like: "I heard that thing eats blue whales!" and my instructor SCOFFED and went: "That is the least it'll eat." she had a smirk on her face and i was scared shittless. But we continiued to see its fin and it was wonderfull!

So we went on looking at animals (none that i can remember what they where) and all of the where top secret! Like scp or men in black! But then something happened and we had to go and check!

It was that whale thing! turns out we also where on a boat in the mittle of nowhere and the whale lived in the ocean. But was still contained? But I saw its body for the first time and i was stunned! It was divine! It was formed like a (very) big dolfin and had a whale fin as i said before. The fin was black and the body was dark blue! The reason i was so supprised was cuz it had markings accross its body (not the fin) and it was kinda a mech? It was glowing blue from the markings and red from its big frightening eyes.

It was for some reason pulled out of the ocean and put in a contanment on the boat that was way to small for its well being! So we had to stop them! I sneaked in into the air poket of the "room" the mech whale was contaned in and tried to realese it! But guards came and it was a lot if action but i got it free! By then it was dark outside and the guards where no longer evil so i went on my way to my dorm i apperantly had.

i was in a hallway met my intructor who was no longer my instructor? Now she had turned into a guy (that looked exactly like aos bones) and was kinda grumpy :( And he was for some reason angry at me and hiding behind theatre stools just beacuse :_(

But we eventually arrived at my dorm and all the disney prinsesses where waiting for me. So i was like, LETS MAKE PANCAKES!! (Yes again) but then, we could'nt find the whipped cream so my instructor was like, dude its outside lets get it! But it was dark outside so i couldnt see anything. It was a storm outside where we was and i could make my way to the cream my the hand railing, but i kept falling forward and into the arms of my instuctor and in was so embarrassed! I remember thinking: "Oh god this is so gay he probably doenst like me ohgod" cuz i was jason bourne and he was like:

"Hey be carefull!" and was worried though that i would fall and hurt myself. So we got the whipped cream, made it back and ate some pancakes! They where formed like pizza sclises in a pizza box so that was weird. All around me were the prinsesses eating and my instructor sat next to me and it felt good!

And THEN haha jk i woke up and tried to process wtf just happened.

So that was a lot to take in.

Tldr: Had a dream where I: played undertale, had a accedentall pancake date, became jason bourne, went to school, saved a mech whale, had (at the time) gay fantasies with my instructor who was lowkey bones from startrek, And had a accedental pancake date once again but all the disney princesses where watching.

I just relised both pancake dates were gay so that's cool!
