Eight years ago I made the decision to make a living on my own terms. I was a single mom who couldn't bear making a greater time commitment to anyone or anything over my daughter. Instead, I became a master of skilled trade: I wrote. I posed for pictures. I performed in clubs. I orchestrated corporate events. I am basically a bonafide hustler: the elusive mastermind behind many campaigns and projects in fashion, lifestyle, and beauty. Talking myself up feels too indulgent. I am nothing more than a calculated thrill seeker getting her kicks. I just have these creative gifts, man, and I love to give them away. I'm not fully motivated by money, but I desire wealth. I don't seek fame, but I'd like credit where it is due. That's it. I'm nothing special. Don't stress just because you aren't doing something "bigger" with your life. Don't let yourself feel like you always have to be moving "forward" to feel like you're a successful human. Don't let society make you feel like you have to do anything you don't truly care about doing, or be anybody you don't really care about being. Stop feeling like you have to live to meet other peoples expectations of you. Do what you feel like doing. Don't take on responsibilities that you don't want to have. Don't go to events that you don't feel like going to. Don't let others make you feel bad because you didn't feel like being somewhere that THEY wanted you to be. Live for yourself. These are all things that I feel like people in our society have a really hard time doing...but when they do...it feels fantastic.
