I rambled about it in my post, haha. Basically, “crack” is something that would never happen based on differing universes (or incest, tbh).

I'm pretty sure yours got blocked because of OUAT, and I was being safe and not clicking through, haha.  But yes, that's pretty much exactly how I define a crack ship.

a crackship to me is just a ship that has not been made canon in the original work. I was using that term for ages before I knew what it meant, tbh xD I mean, I found out a while ago, but I never think of it like that, which is why I was like O.O that Jamie didn’t like Blesse being referred to as a crackship.

Haha, that's exactly why I'm asking, cause I don't think there's a straightforward definition anywhere.  But I don't think that "crack" and "non-canon" should be used interchangeably.  I mean, the word 'crack' itself kind of implies the whole "so crazy it could never make sense" thing, so I do think that should be taken into consideration when someone's trying to define it.  At the same time, there is still a LOT of personal opinion when it comes to the definition, though, so there's really no right or wrong way to use it, unless someone's using it as an insult.  Then they're automatically wrong. ;P

The only things I would call crackships are ones that can’t possibly be meant seriously. Like Jayne/Vera or something.

And that's the other way I define crack shipping: when you're shipping characters as a joke.  (Although at the same time, a joke ship to one person might be a legit ship to another, so that STILL comes down to personal preference.)

OH YEAH AND DUH, I DEFINE A CRACK SHIP AS: A pairing that consists of two characters from different universes/fandoms or a ship that's made completely in jest (and as much is said by those shipping it).  So, basically, a mix of what Jamie and Rose said. ;D
