The burn in the man’s knees against the gravel bit against the flurrying snow soaking into his long sleeve shirt. The jacket he had on had been dumped on the way here, though “here” could be anywhere, but his guess was right where he meant to be.
“Please…”
It was all he could say now, eyes blinded, busted lip and bruised limbs trembling not only from the skyfall. And still he was ignored, but he could feel them, sense them crowding around him. The faintest whispers carried on the nightly breeze. And then the click of a gun echoed.
“Please!”
“You found us. Is this not what you wanted?”

[ID: Two panels from Dungeon Meshi. The first scows Senshi clutching his face as tears start to spill out of his eyes, saying, "I've always... always wanted to have this soup one more time." He's not wearing his helmet in this panel, so his face is unusually visible, detailed and vulnerable. The second panel shows himself as a youngster, surrounded by his old mining team, all smiling at each other, one of them rubbing Senshi's head. Modern-day Senshi continues, "Thank you. All of you. Thank you." End ID.]
Holy shit. I anticipated some tragic backstory from the "I must feed the young ones" panels, but what I'd guessed was that Senshi might have become so devoted to cooking and eating literally whatever because he'd previously survived a famine and had seen children starve to death. I did not expect him to have been the child who was the sole survivor of a doomed travel party, one of whom was determined to feed Senshi first because he was the youngest, and that Senshi has lived with the fear of having inadvertently committed cannibalism by eating stew that he'd never quite known the contents of. I'm happy for him that Laios deduced and confirmed for him that it was griffin meat, that he was able to taste the meal that saved his life once more and remember the friends he lost. Seriously, I'm crying, and also earnestly relieved that while his backstory is pretty dark, it's not the type of fucked up I'd been preparing myself mentally for.

Kinda whack when you're a huge fan of a longfic fanfic for a media work that you're not that big a fan of because it's just that good.
Am I fan of Fallout 3 or Fallout 4? Not particularly. They're fine but kinda bad, and yet every time this ongoing Fallout fic with 700k+ words (so far) gets a new chapter I go feral and have to restrain myself from installing the games.

I'm now five episodes into the wizard the witch and the wild one and gods if I don't have so many questions. like: spirits. how? there's such a massive variety of otherwordly beings and how they present, how the pcs interact with those same beings, and how npcs might interact with them. somehow spirits are a common everything around ame and maybe also eursalon, but its also crystal clear that the common person thinks of spirits and maybe also witches as something akin to old wives tales.
and yet, the Stranger showed up within moments of Grandma Wren's death, the 'random' captain of the ship they took to port talon very specifically had...signed over her body to act as a vessel for spirits with a contract written in her flesh (?)...and port talon itself has been established as actively burning salt fires that seem to be very specifically targeting and burning away the presence of spirits a la ame's gut churning reaction to connecting with the spirits of the fountain.
for sure ame is being specifically targeted by malignant spirits because between the curse and her inheritance she is suddenly the sole recipient of a currently impossible to fathom amount of power or knowledge or duty, which explains the encounters she specifically has had. especially since she is a witch away from her sanctum. but then why the salt fires and the [unintelligible screaming] of the spirits in port talon.

Aspect of Order: Primordial & Present-Day
One of the first deities, part of what is known as the Primordial Triad. It created the planes alongside the Aspects of Chaos and the In-Between and held dominion over the Material Plane. It embodied order in the way nature has order: the life cycle, gravity, the tides, the surety that the seasons will change, the patterns that appear in flora and fauna alike, the symmetry of pinecones and butterflies. It was associated with the night as a time of quiet preparation where the world rests, and when one can see the remains of creation in the darkened sky. It is said that the two moons of the Material Plane are its eyes, watching over its creations.
All three members of the Primordial Triad are referred to with "it", so ancient and unfathomable that applying a mortal, transient concept of gender to them seemed almost blasphemous.
Almost.
The modern-day conception of Order is quite different. Though she still reigns over the night and natural laws, her followers have placed her at the forefront of the creation process, reducing the In-Between's role and rejecting Chaos altogether. Though most present-day cultures think of her in this way, many of them do not emphasize her: she is an invisible Over-God, keeping the other deities and forces in line and maintaining cosmic balance from behind the scenes. In places where she is worshipped heavily, however, she is placed at the forefront of the pantheon. In those cases, worship of deities with overlapping domains is either illegal (ex local gods of justice) or considered secondary to her (ex the god of the Wilds). The worship of smaller, local deities is usually discouraged or suppressed over-all in these areas in order to encourage a more structured, uniform religious practice. While both aspects of Order championed paladins, Primordial Order also championed druids and rangers while Modern Order champions clerics.
Ancient theologians debated whether or not Order and Chaos were two aspects of the same being (ironically, there was no question that the In-Between was its own separate force). However, following the iconoclasm that effectively forced Chaos out of the pantheon and created the modern conception of Order, such lines of thought were considered heretical, and then blasphemous.
The iconoclasm did have an unintended consequence, however. Crying motifs appeared in some art of Primordial Order around that time, particularly in the areas that resisted the iconoclasts more intensely. Some scholars believe that it may have been a direct reaction to the event: Order mourning the loss of its counterpart. Others have argued, however, that the lack of such motifs (or equivalents) in depictions of the In-Between prove this wrong. After all, why would it not also be grieving?

I just cannot get out of my head how very HER the whole thing is and like of course it is but it’s like she has metamorphosed into a completely different more HER version of herself all along. it’s bananas. It is like she flung open the window to her inner world, and is trusting the processes and herself more than ever before.

Be My Favorite - Episode 12 Thoughts
Oh look I’m watching it the day it airs for the finale. My predictions are: Max deserves better and Pear deserves better. I made myself some nachos and I bought chocolate earlier that’s not chillin in my freezer so let’s goooo:
-I was actually sick last week while watching the episode. Just a cold but I still have a cough and I think it’s so funny. Art imitates my life I guess lol
-Listening to the background vocals for the first time on this opening and holy shit way to go Krist hot damn I’m impressed.
-I actually agree with Kawi about fame. It’s not everything and privacy concerns are so valid.
-I’m still lost on this time travel thing. Do they inhabit their 17 year old bodies? Is it like a possession? What’s happening? I want answers I’ll never get. Wait are they even 17 at this point or are they older? Like early 20s?
-Dear BMF, I appreciate you giving the audience the roller coaster experience however I have severe motion sickness and now I feel ill so thanks for that.
-I do like that they hold onto each others hands when they need support. I wish we had better build up to these moments though.
-How long are these two gonna stare at each other? I get it but it’s boring to watch.
-Max my beloved. I missed you.
-I’m glad Pear found someone who makes her happy. She deserves her happy ending more than any other character.
-Did this show just give Not a happy ending of being a famous author cause I’m gonna go dive into some concrete. Dear lord we suffered him and yet there he remained.
-WHY WAS THAT GUITAR SO CLOSE TO THE WATER?
-Also put that down before I scream.
-There have been way too many montages in this show.
-Seriously move that guitar before my blood pressure rises even more.
-This was a perfectly passable show. Which is more than I can say about most Jittirain shows.
-Max definitely deserved better. Where is his show? Where is his boyfriend?
