A few weeks had now passed since Violet had hired you, and she couldn’t have prayed for a better fit. Even though they were behind on some of the budgeting for the gala, things were running so smoothly Violet was confident that they would catch up.
“You look like you’re in a good mood.”
Violet looked up from her tea at her friend who she was visiting, a smile creeping up on her lips.
“And what if I am?” she asked.
“I would ask why because you have been so stressed you’ve been giving me grey hair, and now, miraculously, something has changed.”
Violet chuckled at Agatha’s dramatic flair and placed her tea down in a saucer before speaking.
“You remember this whole thing with Landon,” she said. “Dealing with the aftermath of it was terrible, but I recently hired someone to fill his position, and she feels like a very good fit. I’m enjoying working with her.”
“A good fit,” Agatha smiled. She had a feeling there was something else her friend wasn’t sharing, but she knew it would come with time, not wanting to press too hard quite yet. “I suppose that means the gala is raring to go?”
“Yes, and I would be so grateful if you could attend,” Violet said with a soft look in her eyes. “I’m trying to make sure all the family is back in time for it, but you know my children.”
“Like herding cats,” Agatha said with a chuckle, and Violet nodded with slight exasperation. “Speaking of, how is everyone?”
“Alive,” Violet chuckled. “Anthony is still in India, he won’t be back until the gala I believe; Benedict is Lord knows where; Colin and Penelope are on assignment in Indonesia last I heard. You probably already know that Daphne and Simon are settling in with baby number three.”
Agatha nodded.
“Eloise is at school taking summer courses because she cannot be without some sort of mental stimulation for too long; Francesca has just started her position at the philharmonic; and Gregory and Hyacinth are at home getting on each other’s nerves as usual.”
“So I gather the house still isn’t quiet?”
“Not in the least,” Violet shook her head. “Hyacinth is so excited I’ve agreed to let her go to this concert with Benedict. I believe I’ve heard all of the album so many times I could do the concert myself.”
“But watching one’s mother sing is not nearly as entertaining is it?” Agatha teased and Violet laughed.
“No, surely not.”
Once the laughter settled down, Agatha looked at Violet, a curious glimmer in her eyes.
“Are you sure there isn’t something else you wish to speak with me about?” she asked. “Perhaps something different from the usual?”
Violet frowned a little, unsure as to what her friend was referring to.
“No, I don’t think there is,” she shook her head. “Why do you ask?”
“No particular reason,” Agatha shrugged. “But you do know you can tell me anything.”
“Of course I do,” Violet nodded her head, her lips pressed into a small, thin smile. “You are my closest friend, if there was something to tell, I would tell it to you.”
“Good,” Agatha nodded, content with that response.
Violet sipped her tea and thought back to Agatha’s question. Was she reading into something that wasn’t there or did she sense something Violet didn’t? The only really different thing in her life at the moment was you and, in her mind, that was normal. You were an employee who was working well, but then again so was Marianne when Violet had hired her, and she hadn’t necessarily sung her praises in front of Agatha.
She was about to open her mouth and ask her friend further questions about what she meant, but she was interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing.
Seeing your name flash across the screen, she excused herself for a moment, answering the phone and stepping outside of the room to take the call.
“Hello?”
“Violet, hi,” she heard your voice on the other end, you sounded a little nervous.
“Is something going on?” she asked.
“Nothing major,” you assured her. “Just I-I noticed some discrepancies in the accounts…Okay that’s pretty major, I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m so sorry to cut your tea with your friend short, but I think we have to talk about this.”
Violet pressed her lips together and nodded her head.
“Are you at the house?” she asked.
“No, I’m at my apartment in the city. I can be there in forty minutes.”
“No need, I’m closer to you, text me your address, I’ll come over,” she said.
“Alright, call me when you get close, I’ll come down and get you from a side entrance.”
Violet felt a small flutter in her chest at the reminder that she may be exposing herself to wandering eyes, but your voice quickly reassured her that there were ways to be discreet.
“I’ll see you soon,” Violet said. “Maybe call the lawyers while you’re waiting for me, I’ll call Anthony on the way.”
You agreed and exchanged quick goodbyes before Violet entered the room, an apologetic look on her face.
“Dinner to make up for this?” she asked.
“Your place, you cook,” Agatha nodded and Violet chuckled.
“Deal,” she came into the room and gave her friend a tight hug before grabbing her bag and jacket, letting herself out.
She got into her car and began the drive to the address you had sent, calling Anthony once the GPS was set up.
“Hey Mum,” the voice of her daughter-in-law rang through the car and Violet smiled.
“Kate, my darling, it is so good to hear your voice,” she sighed.
“It's good to hear yours, too,” she could practically hear Kate smile over the phone. “Let me guess, more issues with work?”
“Unfortunately, yes,” Violet nodded. “It may be good for you to hear this as well, but can you get Anthony?”
“Of course,” Kate assured her and went to go get her husband, informing her when they were both on the phone together.
“Mum, what’s going on?” Anthony asked.
“Our new manager’s just found some discrepancies in the accounts. I thought you said the lawyers didn’t find anything?”
“They didn’t,” Anthony swore quietly. “What was it?”
“I’m not sure yet, but I would not be surprised if it has anything to do with Landon. I’m heading to her home right now to go over things with her, and she’s calling the lawyers,” Violet explained. “Just, could you maybe go on damage control with your siblings and make sure no one is spending exorbitant amounts of money on anything, not that they would, just try to keep things within limits.”
“Okay, Kate and I can handle that,” Anthony nodded.
“Are you sure you don’t want us to come home?” Kate asked. “My family would understand, we can come back another time.”
“Oh no, my dear,” Violet shook her head. “No, I wouldn’t want you to do that. This time is special, Eddie isn’t always going to be this young. Your family should get a chance to enjoy him like this, too.”
“Alright,” she sighed. “But don’t hesitate to call if you need anything. I feel like we left you alone at such an inconvenient time.”
“It’s no matter, we have a manager now who I really think we can trust. I’m sure she’ll be able to help me figure whatever this is out.”
“We love you, Mum,” Anthony said. “Check in soon.”
“Will do. Kisses.”
Both Anthony and Kate made a small kiss sound over the phone before they exchanged goodbyes and hung up just before Violet pulled into the area where your apartment was.
It took her a moment to find parking, but she called you while she did and you came down to greet her by the side door, ushering her inside.
“You found the place okay?” you asked, and Violet nodded her head.
You could see the stress clearly in her expression, especially as she fiddled with the rings on her finger or played with the ends of her hair while you were waiting in the elevator.
Once you finally got inside your apartment you quietly excused the mess.
“I moved in just before I started working for you, I haven’t had the chance to get everything out of boxes yet,” you explained, bringing her over to your office that was more or less set up. “Okay, this is what I found.”
You showed Violet the papers splayed out and began to explain them.
“Basically, it’s a money trail,” you said. “At first glance it actually looks quite normal, which is probably why the others missed it, but I didn’t recognize this name,” you pointed to the document, “and decided to do some additional digging. I found out it actually goes all the way to this shell company working out of Seychelles. Unfortunately, I can’t touch it and it looks like there’s a couple hundred million in there.”
Violet could feel herself growing nauseous. Ironically, she wasn’t worried about the money, but more so what kind of attention this would bring to the family. The kind of attention she was trying so desperately to avoid.
“V-Violet, are you alright? You look a little pale,” you said softly, gently reaching to place a hand on her back. “Do you want to sit down?”
She nodded her head, and you helped her into one of the nearby seats, watching as her eyes scanned the papers.
“We have to call the police, don't we?” she said finally and you nodded your head. “This is my fault,” she whispered and you frowned, kneeling down in front of her.
“How on earth is this your fault?” you asked.
“I hired Landon,” she explained. “He worked for us for years, and I didn’t notice a single thing.”
“Violet,” you placed a hand on her knee, and her eyes moved to where you touched her. The contact was not unfamiliar, but she felt herself wanting to lean into it. “These weren’t your actions,” you said quietly. “They’re Landon’s, and it’s not like he made his intentions clear to you. He lied and was manipulative.”
Violet chewed on the inside of her cheek, holding her forehead in her hands before running her hand through her hair and leaning back into the chair.
“The money will find its way back-”
“It’s not about the money,” Violet shook her head. “We have more than enough of that, and even if we didn’t…it wouldn’t be the end of the world.”
You stayed silent, waiting to see if she would say more, but your mind found itself drifting back to the comment she had made during your interview.
“It’s the press, isn’t it?” you asked, and she nodded her head.
You chewed on your lip, trying to think of something, anything that might relieve her worry, but you were afraid nothing would do the trick.
“You must think it's silly,” Violet said, leaning back in her chair, her body language becoming more closed off as the topic progressed. “That someone who has lived her whole life in the spotlight should probably be used to the press by now.”
“I never said I think it’s silly,” you spoke softly, still kneeling by her side. “I can't imagine having my whole life available to the public, whether it is the truth or lies fabricated to get more viewership. That is not a life I think anyone sane would long for.”
Violet pressed her lips together and sighed.
“Then let’s try and keep this low profile for as long as we can. It will inevitably get out, but maybe by that time, things will have cooled off.”
You nodded your head, patting her knee and standing up.
“Of course, then we can focus on lighter things like this gala.” You smiled. “I just got word that they secured the venue you wanted, so that’s good news.”
Violet couldn’t help but smile at that. It was good news. She’d always had good luck when she’d hosted at this venue, managing to raise more and more money each time, and she would always make sure her own family’s donations would match.
Edmund had always said that money was a tool, and when it was used properly, it had the opportunity to do good in the world.
Now that most of her children were able to support themselves, she worried less and less about giving more of the money away. Yes, they had lived a fairly privileged life, but she and Edmund tried to make sure they didn’t focus their spending on luxuries.
Aside from their home, which had been in the family for eons, they kept things simple. A few people to help around the house due to its large size, security when it was necessary, but that was the extent of it.
Violet watched as you picked up the phone to call the lead officer on Landon’s case. Eventually they had given their number to Violet in case anything suspicious came up, but she thought they were in the clear and would never have to use it.
When you were finished talking, telling the officer you would meet him at the Bridgerton’s residence, you grabbed your keys and your purse, but Violet stopped you.
“We can go together, I’ll bring you back afterwards,” she said.
“Are you sure? I know today has been hectic already. I don't want to add anything on your plate.”
“Driving is the only time I get any peace, you’d be doing me a favour,” she assured. “Plus, I just got Gregory to clean the car so it’s spotless,” she teased.
You chuckled at what she said, still packing your keys in your purse.
“Okay, let’s go then,” you grabbed the papers and files from your desk that were relevant and headed to Violet’s car. She took a quick look around, before giving you a nod to get inside, and she followed soon after, starting the car. Hearing the quiet hum of the hybrid engine come into the space, she pulled out of her parking spot and began the drive back to her home.
You wouldn’t lie, you weren’t particularly expecting Violet to drive herself around, but clearly she had proven time and time again her family did not do things the typical way.
“So you enjoy driving?” you tried to make friendly conversation.
“I do,” she nodded. “And I find I do so much of it, I may as well get a car that’s decent for the environment.”
“Really, you drive a lot?” you asked.
“Well, more when all of my kids were still living at home. We used to joke and say I was the family chauffeur, but I loved driving with the kids, it let me spend more time with them when everything around us felt unmanageable.”
“Are you still chauffeuring Hyacinth and Gregory?”
“Not as much as I used to. Hyacinth definitely, but Gregory gets himself around, much to my dismay,” she chuckled lightly. “But before I know it, Hyacinth will be off to school, and I’ll be alone with a lot of time on my hands.”
“Maybe I can engage your services, then,” you teased and Violet smiled.
“Tit for tat, I like that,” she turned off of the highway and went to one of the less crowded offroads that led to the house. “What about yourself, do you have any simple pleasures?”
“You know, that is a good question,” you sighed and sank back into your seat. “I love art. Even just looking at it, I suppose.”
“And how do you satisfy that need?” Violet inquired further.
“Museums, mostly. I’ll just go and sit there for hours looking at a particular painting. Well, I used to, I don’t have enough time to do much of that anymore,” you admitted.
“You’ll enjoy the venue for the gala then,” Violet said. “It’s filled with art, I find it gets people in the right mood to give generously.”
“You do a lot of that, don’t you?” you asked, turning your head over to her, watching as her eyes were focused on the road ahead, sunglasses tangled in her hair, the ghost of a smile on her lips.
“Give generously?” she asked. “Yes, I’m afraid there may have been something I failed to mention when I hired you.”
“Which is?”
“I don’t think this is going to be a permanent position,” she said quietly.
“And why is that?” you asked curiously.
“Once Hyacinth is in school, Anthony and I have made plans to…essentially give away most of the money.”
“As your financial manager, I feel compelled to advise you against that,” you said, “but as a human being. I admire your detachment.”
“Oh, I assure you there are selfish motives as well,” she said. “Each of the children will be left with a sizable trust, I will have enough to let me have a comfortable retirement, but Anthony and I thought it was time we got rid of the thing that keeps all the cameras constantly on our family.”
“Do all your children know about this plan?” you asked.
“More or less,” she nodded. “They’re all capable individuals. They will live happy and comfortable lives, and I know for a fact they won't struggle and neither will any of their children, or their children after that. They just might have a chance at some semblance of normality.”
You nodded your head, understanding.
“I’ll obviously need your help with that transition once it happens, but after that I’m afraid I won’t have much of a need for your expertise. Unless you also do taxes, then perhaps I can keep you around,” she looked over at you briefly.
“I don’t tend to do taxes,” you said. “But I think I’d make an exception for you, Violet.”
Violet bit her lip and smiled. She had certainly hoped you might say that.

Tumblr media
winter wonderland has come and gone, and with that comes a whole new serving of fresh squeezed juice. click the link below to read all of the insider gossip as we give a rundown on palmview's messiest winter event !
palm readers here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of florida's forgotten. our neighbors certainly got busy at this year's winter wonderland, and we're here to give you all of the inside juice. from blowouts to beaus, we're covering it all, so sit back, snuggle up and get ready because this juice is tart !
in light of the holidays we decided we'd start at a wholesome place. palmview's prom queen and helping hand have decided to take their romance to the next step, making it official under all the twinkling lights ( and in front of everyone in town ) when they hard launched by showing up and showing out at the event. a source close to the two says that their new romance has been budding for longer than we know, and that the pair are excited to start their new journey together. looks like santa visited early for these love birds !
it seems that santa may have visited another couple, as kyro and celeste were spotted getting extra close in the photobooth. i wonder if they know that there's a screen on the outside for everyone else to see ? a source says that the two insist they're ' just friends ' but the evidence we've seen says otherwise. besides, who carries a mistletoe in their purse when they're with a friend ? i've always said to each their own, but let me tell you, i've never done that with a friend !
rekindling seemed to be in the air last night, as winona and veronica were spotted hand in hand at the ice rink. veronica must not mind that winnie's been going on dates. either that, or she doesn't know, considering a source says that she was spotted being quite friendly with remy. let's only hope this doesn't put a damper in their newly repaired ... friendship ?
things weren't all jolly though, and despite the cheer in the air, not everyone managed to stay off of the naughty list. while they may have thought they'd gone under the radar, we have eyes and ears everywhere and your palm readers know all. cassius and vivienne were spotted having a heartfelt reunion, but a source says that things aren't as sweet as they seem. will the two be able to rekindle, or will the guilt of holiday's past be too much for them to endure ?
everything came to a head for julian when teddy caught him on what appeared to be a date with ex girlfriend hadley. never a good feeling when your new beau double books himself, even worse when you have an entire audience for it. not sure how julian will dig himself out of this grave after kenny shoveled in the last scoop of dirt, but perhaps santa's elves will be kind and give him a hand in the process of getting back on teddy's nice list. you didn't hear it from us, teddy, but we say run for the hills ! how can a man keep up with a woman if he can't keep up with his own calendar ?
benedict everly found himself permanently on the naughty list after losing track of devon's daughter. sources say the girl was wandering the grounds alone when vivienne found her. this led to the awkward reunion between benedict and vivienne, presumably the first since their engagement went up in flames. seems that the things you try to run from will always find their way back to you !
back from his disappearance, leon amos was spotted at the winter wonderland in far better spirits. seems the holiday cheer has gotten to him, and who knows where he's been, but we can only hope it's given him inspiration for the next album ! maybe a christmas rock song is on palmview's horizon.
our town matchmaker might be great at pairing others, but her choice in emma seems to be a sketchy one. sources say that emma and noa were seen parading around our wonderland in what seemed like a happy love bubble, but the second noa left, emma was seen flirting around with several different people. i wonder how noa will feel to find out that sydney and emma shared a kiss ? unfortunately it's definitely not cupid's season, and his bow was missed by a long shot.
the awkwardness doesn't stop there... caleb and clementine both arrived with different dates, only to leave with each other. not sure what the pair get from dragging the rest of us into their love story, but hopefully their dates were able to find a little comfort in each other. won't be long until we're sharing the news of their rekindled relationship ! as much as they'd like to say they hate each other, we all know there's a thin line between love and hate.
in a show of bravery, daniel decided to pick a fight with olivia after getting stuck with her on a ferris wheel ( another joke from santa himself ). the two didn't make any efforts to keep it lowkey, either, as the poor patrons stuck under them came to us with all the juice. rumor has it olivia wouldn't let daniel get a word in edge wise, and we can only wonder if that had a hand in their downfall. no one likes to be talked over all the time, and she seems to have made a habit of it. stay tuned to find out if their relationship is as stuck as the ferris wheel, or if they'll find a way to reconnect !
to top off all of the winter woes, knoxville oakley was spotted at the bar reeling from his soon to be fiancee's sudden departure. a source close to him says that he was practically incomprehensible, rambling on about the way she'd left without a word. we can only wonder what drove her to that point, but hopefully knox can find a little holiday cheer ! perhaps santa will leave a little self respect under the tree for him this year.
and that's a wrap on our holiday event ! always remember, we see and hear everything here at the daily palm. head on over to our comments and let us know all of your thoughts on this year's winter wonderland ! we wanna hear it all.

Love Story
Tumblr media
Pairings: Colin Bridgerton + Penelope Featherington Summary: Francesca has learnt a new song, and starts to play matchmaker for her third brother.
Masterlist | Albums | Fearless Album
Tumblr media
Every Monday, Penelope would join the Bridgerton ladies for tea (the redhead was an honorary Bridgerton, Violet made sure everyone knew that Penelope would be the only one to ever hold this title, although she silently hoped Colin would come to his senses and see her standing there).
Like other times, Francesca was calmly sitting at the pianoforte practising her scales.
However, the third youngest had an idea, when she glanced out the window and saw her three older brothers finishing their fencing match and would be coming back inside.
"Penelope, would you like to sing this new song I've been learning?" Francesca asked, looking over to the Featehrington girl, and shut up Eloise with a glare when the fifth Bridgerton opened her mouth.
"Oh!" Penelope squeaked. "Erm..." with 6 pairs of Bridgerton eyes looking at her, there was no chance of her saying no. "Of course, Francesca."
They giggled like children over every wrong note either played or sang, but only got it right when the oldest boys came back in.
Tumblr media
Anthony and Benedict were still giving Colin a good ribbing, as he had yet to win a fencing machine since he entered society.
"What is that sound?" Colin asks, hearing the singing from the foyer of Number Five.
"It sounds like an angel," was Benedict's whisper, as he took the steps two at a time (quickly followed by his brothers).
The three of them nearly launched themselves through the drawing-room door, however, it didn't take anyone's attention away from where Francesca sat playing as Penelope Featherington sang.
"And I got tired of waiting, wondering if you were ever coming around. My faith in you was fading, when I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said," Penelope sang, putting her whole heart into it, bringing the Bridgertons to tears.
She took in a deep breath, looking up to the ceiling, pushing away her tears. "Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone, I keep waiting for you, but you never come. Is this in my head? I don't know what to think, he knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring, and said."
Colin could barely pay attention to the words she sang, he could only see the way the sun shines off her hair, and how it creates a silhouette around her. Her eyes shone with tears, her bottom lip starting to quiver.
How had he never noticed this before? How gorgeous she is! His ray of sunshine, she had been shining throughout the years he has known her.
He had only been drawn to Marina because, at the time, she was the moon to Penelope's sun.
Then joining in with Penelope's singing was the rest of their family. "Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone, I love you, and that's all I really know. I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress, it's a love story, baby, just say yes." Eloise had joined Penelope as they motioned to each other when they sang 'I love you'.
Violet looked at Penelope and Eloise, happy that the pair had made up over whatever had caused them to fall out in the first place.
Then she looked over at her son, who was deemed to be gazing adoring at Penelope (but to be perfectly honest, he's always looked at her like that), but there was something different...

Cautionary Fairytale: Part 1
Tumblr media
Rob Benedict x Reader
Summary: Rob and Reader have slowly been unraveling. He’s ignoring the truth though, pretending that nothing is wrong. Will he wake up and realize that he needs to fix things? Or is this one story that doesn’t have a happy ending?
Word Count: 1636
Warnings: angst
Notes: I DID IT! I wrote something! Okay, it’s not for all of the other stories I haven’t finished... but sometimes, starting something new kicks me into gear to work on old stuff. Anyway, this’ll be a mini series. Fingers crossed I can keep writing.
Also, totally based on my favorite song from the Dick Jr. and The Volunteers album (that Rob wrote).
I’ll put more thought into a story header later.
————————————————————————————————-
When Rob got in late that night, he expected to come home to her. She was always there when he came home, usually waiting for him as she always knew his schedule and knew the exact moment he’d walk through that door.
Their reunions were always perfect. She’d greet him with that perfect, beautiful smile that he missed like crazy while he was away, he’d leave his bags at the door, and she’d kiss him and they’d spend an amazing night together.
This time though, she wasn’t there waiting for him. Granted, she didn’t know he was coming home early from the convention, it was meant to be a surprise after all. Still, he had expected her to be there. She was always there waiting for him.
Lately, Rob had the feeling that things between them were rocky. She had been distant and short with him, and he knew the reasons why. He had been avoiding it for a while because he was afraid of what confronting it would do to them. But, he knew. He could see it every time she looked at him lately, he could hear it in her voice every time he talked to her on the phone. He had known for some time that he needed to do better or he’d lose her. This was his first attempt at fixing things, and he was already failing at it it seemed.
Rather than overthink it too much, he ended up waiting in return. He sat on the couch, watching the door as if she’d walk through at any minute and give him that big goofy grin when she noticed he was home. After a couple of hours of waiting, he decided he should check on her instead. Perhaps she had just gone out. Maybe she’d rush home if she knew that he was there.
It was late, but he grabbed his phone and made the call anyway. Obviously she was up and just out somewhere with friends.
It rang a few times before she finally answered, her voice groggy and quiet as if he had just woken her from sleep.
“Rob?” She asked in a soft voice.
“Hey, Y/N,” he smiled to himself just upon hearing her voice. It had been a long few days since he had heard her voice. “Where are you?”
“What do you mean?” She asked. “Rob, it’s really late.”
“I mean, I came home early to surprise you, and well, you’re not here.”
“Oh,” she muttered. “I- I’m actually away for a few days.”
“Like, out of town?”
“Yeah.”
“You didn’t mention going away.”
He heard her sigh and there was some rustling in the background. He knew he had woken her.
“Well, you know, you’re busy and I didn’t think it mattered.”
“Where did you go?”
“I’m just visiting my family.”
“In Nashville?” He asked in surprise.
He felt a knot form in his throat as he tried to hold back from crying or yelling at her. He was undeniably upset to hear this from her, yet he knew he had to approach this carefully.
“Yeah.”
“I was- literally just in Nashville for the con,” he said. “I left Nashville early to come see you.”
“Yeah, apparently.”
“I’m just a little confused… you didn’t mention you were going to Nashville. I was just there and you said nothing.”
“I didn’t want to bother you,” she said after a pause.
“Why wouldn’t you just tell me you were going there too? We could have flown together and spent some time together.”
“It was kinda a last minute thing… I didn’t want to bug you since you were going for work. We couldn’t have seen each other anyway, you’re so busy.”
“I would’ve made time for you.”
“Sure,” she chuckled in return, a hint of snark in her laugh as if to say that she didn’t believe it. “I’m sorry. I’ll be home on Wednesday.”
“You’re away for that long? And you didn’t tell me?”
“Rob, you’re usually away for longer periods of time and I get no say in it,” she said sharply. “Besides, I just didn’t want to bother you.”
In just a short conversation, she had managed to reiterate that she didn’t want to bother him far too many times. Rob at least caught on to that quickly and it bothered him that she would even think that she could be a bother. At no point in their relationship had she ever bothered him, and he was uneasy at the way she seemed to think she would.
“You’re gone until Wednesday and you decided not to mention this trip to me? I normally would have been home on Monday… and I would’ve come home to you not here.”
“I’m sorry,” she said again. “I would have called to let you know so you didn’t worry. Probably today or something. I’ve just been… preoccupied. I promise I would have called though.”
She seemed almost annoyed by him now. Her voice didn’t carry the usual happiness that it did when they talked and it was as if he was just a forgotten thought in the whole situation. Why would she not tell him she had planned a trip like this? He always told her when he was going away.
“Did I… did I do something wrong, Y/N?” He asked carefully. “Are you upset with me?”
“No.,” she replied quickly. “I just needed to get away for awhile. And I haven’t seen my family in a long time. I honestly just didn’t think it would matter. I didn’t know you’d be home early.”
“Well, it was supposed to be a surprise,” he muttered.
“Yeah, I am quite surprised. You never do things like this.”
“You sound upset. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” she sighed. “Really just- can we just talk about this when I get home?”
“I have to leave on Wednesday… the next convention…”
“Of course you do,” she replied, cutting him off with the same snark present in her voice.
“Y/N I- do I need to cancel?”
“No. Don’t do that,” you replied. “It’s fine. We’ll just talk the next time we see each other.”
“So… in like, a week?”
“Well, if that’s how long you’ll be away for work, then yes. A week.”
“I- I wish you would have told me,” he said again, still feeling hurt that she wasn’t even here waiting for him the way she always had been.
“I was going to,” she replied. “When I was ready to.”
“I probably should have let you know I was coming home early. Now I’ve just cancelled my appearance for the last day of the convention to see you and you’re not even here.”
“Are you trying to make me feel bad?” She asked.
“No. Not at all,” he lied.
He sighed as he leaned back against the couch, running a hand down his face in frustration as he thought about what an idiot he was. He never should have cut out early on a work thing. Now he’d just have bummed out fans to deal with, and for what?
“I just- was excited to see you… maybe spend a few days with you.”
“I’m not coming home early, if that’s what you’re getting at,” she said flatly.
“No. Of course not. It’s been awhile since you’ve gone home. Still, maybe I would have liked to come along too, you know.”
“Rob,” she paused for a moment before continuing her thought. “I’ve been trying to plan a trip home for the past year and nothing ever worked for you. Sorry, I just- got tired of waiting.”
“Well, I was actually just there. If you had mentioned it, we could have made it work.”
“Rob, it’s two in the morning,” she replied, now sounding more irritated than before. “I said we’ll talk about it when I get home- or, when I see you again.”
“Yeah, sure. Sorry I woke you.”
“And I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. Sorry you’re there alone.”
“I’m not very good at surprises, am I?”
“Well, I appreciate the gesture, I guess.”
“”Go back to bed. Have fun with your family. I’ll- call you later. I miss your voice.”
“Sure. I’ll see you when I see you.”
“One week,” he reminded her. “I promise.”
“Hopefully,” she replied. “You know, stuff tends to come up with you. So, hopefully.”
He chose to ignore that uncertainty on her part. He could tell something was wrong and he knew he had to ensure that he did see her in a week. For once, he would make sure that nothing else came up and got in the way of that.
“I love you,” he said softly. “And I miss you like crazy.”
“Me too,” she replied. “Goodnight, Rob.”
Before he got another word out, she had ended the call, leaving him sitting there like an idiot with the phone still at his ear as if his wishful thinking would keep her on. It didn’t though.
He sighed again before forcing himself up off of the couch. It was late and he was exhausted. The emotional drain of that strange phone call and even weirder behavior from Y/N had built up on top of the exhaustion from work and the flight home. He had expected to come home to the woman he loved and feel a little more complete with his life as he held her in their bed that night. She had no idea how it was for him when he was away, and how she was the only thing in this world to fix everything when he was with her.
Tonight though, he’d be alone in their bed. It would be a first for him, and she hadn’t even told him that she loved him before she hung up.

had a bad day so more band au headcannons
anyone who wants to write a fic for this is absolutely allowed if they tag me, i’m not gonna make any full length ones but i might post some one shots eventually
anyway i had a really shitty day so here’s me self projecting and creating more band headcannons
check out the first here~
check out the second here~
tag list~
@athenashipsthings @thelesbianspoon @flowersheep @insert--self--hatred @nafsbluebery @sunflowerss0 @nerdiegurlie @stars-and-rose
okays lets do this✨
so last when we left the boys, it’s the day before they release their album “death of a bachelor”
to celebrate, roman suggests they get dinner out and maybe go see a movie??
logan is suprisingly the first to agree, saying that if he doesn’t get to watch the “scary stories to tell in the dark” movie soon he will explode. plus there’s no food in the fridge
virgil is also down to go see the movie, but is more reluctant to get dinner. he hates formal things, so to make him feel more comfortable roman offers they go to the local diner that he knows has virgil’s favorite chicken parm dish and virgil can’t say no to that
patton doesn’t want to see the movie at first-he really doesn’t like scary movies. but he wants dinner with his friends and he might be able to latch onto logan during the scary parts so he goes with it
so patton offers go help virgil with his hair and they end up getting ready together! they talk about everything they can think of as patton does hair and virgil does makeup and they both do each other’s nails and then they’re ready to go out whooooppp
meanwhile roman collapsed on logan’s bed an hour ago and began complaining about how he needed to impress virgil to get him to fall in love with him and has been talking ever since
logan doesn’t mind tho, roman helps him pick out a nice outfit and gives tips on how to woo patt
even though it’s not a date
yet
anyways they get to the diner and they all have an incredible time! by the end of the meal they’re in tears laughing at each other, from roman’s hysterical stories to virgil’s banter to logan’s fun facts and spilt tea to patton’s enthusiastic impressions
they love each over like family :)
and the movie is top notch. virgil is in love with it, him and logan spend the whole time guessing what’s going to happen while roman hides behind virgil and patton shoves his face full of popcorn and squish himself into logan’s arm
and yes virgil can’t stop laughing and logan’s immediate tensing up and blushing
after the movie they just don’t want to go to bed quite yet, so the friends head to the park and enjoy lying in the grass, talking and letting logan point out the stars while roman makes up stories of the aliens and space princesses that protect the galaxy
virgil makes everyone his famous hot chocolate and they stay up until midnight to release their songs
and then the clock strikes 12 and death of a bachelor is available to download
the boys decide that staying up and watching the comments flood in is a terrible idea and instead they put on some disney films and fall asleep on the couch
it’s nice
they wake up to millions of notifications
everyone is freaking the fuck out
this album ??? is beautiful ???
all of the fans are in love but also have a lot of questions-so the fab four start doing monthly live-streams to just chat and answer questions and catch up with their fans
“are y’all single?”
um
well yes
but uh
this question is not goOD ROMAN WHAT THE FU-
anyway virgil comes to patton one day, slams the door, puts his face in a pillow and screams “PATT IM SO GAY HELP”
because roman called his hair pretty this morning and yes it’s stupid and it happens all the time but this time was different
don’t worry tho they won’t admit their feelings to one and other for another three months
death of a bachelor does really well-all of the songs end up going either gold or platinum
their song “victorious” is played on the radio all of the time
so november rolls around and the friends decide it’s time to go on tour! starting with just north america, they post a video on the youtube channel that gives all the locations and dates
it’s to start in april:
virgil is extremely nervous. being on the road for so long and preforming live in front of thousands of people and will anyone even show up and-
logan is slightly nervous but honestly he really enjoys preforming-once he ties the tie around his head like a bandanna he almost transforms into the punk rock bassist he is known by the fans to be
patton!!! is!!! bouncy!!!!!!!! he wants to meet all these people!!!! and he can’t wait to give back to all of them by preforming and meet and greets and social interaction makes him really happy!!
roman is so excited-preforming is his thing. when he’s on a stage, he’s in his element! he can’t wait to show off and travel and be with his friends for even longer :)
but they can’t go on tour with their boring old instruments sooooo
roman and patton team up to paint and decorate all of the instruments
virgil’s piano matches his jacket, lots of purple and swirls and patton paints the classic nightmare before christmas scene on the front (u know, this one but stationary)
Tumblr media
and they decorate the microphone stand purple and silver and black
logan gets a dope space themed bass-the outside is dark blue and the inside is painted like a galaxy, with a plain silver pick
roman paints his gutair with a castle and sunset in the back, with a bright red pick to play
patton’s drums have clouds on them nowww like a sunny day with blue puffy clouds
they’re ready to go! but it’s still only december so u kNoW whAt ThaT mEaNs
CHRISTMAS!!!!!
since none of the squad are jewish, (although technically patton is half jew since his mom is, but he just really loves christmas and always celebrated that growing up so)
they decide to celebrate at their house
they invite all of their close family to the apartment and have a lovely dinner
and yeah virgil doesn’t invite anyone cuz he was adopted by a shitty family who he doesn’t talk to anymore, bcuz all they did was try and get money out of him
and yeah he has a panic attack when all of his best friends are excitedly talking about their family coming over
and y e a h roman helps him calm down and swears that he will always b there to protect virgil bcuz he’s never met anyone quite like him and it’s not easy to explain but he just wants virgil to know he’s safe with roman
and yeah virgil wishes he could stop falling for roman but the ground keeps disappearing beneath him
so time skip a bit closer to christmas and logan bursts into romans room with an idea
“i can rap”
“we know”
“you can rap”
“kind of but okay”
“christmas rap song for fun”
“yeS”
so they write “gonna kill santa claus” (look it up) and decide to post it on the youtube channel on christmas eve
they film a music video for it where they jokingly set up different traps for santa like poison cookies and fire cracker chimneys and more
virgil sings the chorus, logan raps the rap parts, roman does the bridge, and patton lays down a pretty sick beat
it comes out really nice and honestly really fucking funny
so after a delightful family dinner with everyone over, the friends release that video and the internet fucking dies it’s so funny and logan can rap (??????) and ohmygod all of them are so cute what the fuck
anyway back to christmas dinner
roman has like 6 little sisters, and his mom and dad and papa and nana over
(he’s latino, his mom and dad are both from the dominican republic)
patton invites his mom and dad and little brothers, thomas and dee
and logan invites his two moms
everyone comes over for lunch and gets along reallyyyyyy well
logan’s got the punk mom and soft mom dynamic whereas, patton’s family is all super kind and like homey and boisterous and romans family is wild and crazy and funny and they all instantly click
presents are passed around, lots of money and books and movies and stickers and jewelry
really sweet stuff
and then everyone goes home and the friends have their own little gift exchange
virgil got logan the stephen king book “insomnia” and a (sort of) joke blanket with benedict cumberbatch’s face on it that he can use when he goes stargazing at night
logan gets virgil some noise cancelling headphones and a framed picture of a wedding with virgil’s face cropped on one and gerard ways face on the other
they both can’t stop laughing at the fact they attacked each other’s celeb crush
virgil gets patton a cute little cat stuffed animal that when u push the hand it’s a recording of all of them saying “we love you!!!” and a really sweet card
patton gets virgil a eyore necklace that was super expensive but matches patton’s winnie the pooh one and a itunes card for him to buy more music (and yes a really sweet card)
virgil gets roman two tickets to see mean girls on broadway and a framed picture of the two of them
yeah roman tears up a bit fuck u
roman gets virgil a collage of him and roman and a handmade hoodie that virgil is never going to take off oh and also meet and greet passes to see dan and phil at their interactive introverts tour
and maybe virge gets a little teary too
roman gets patton a recipie book and an apron that says “you BAKE my day”
patton gets roman a new ukelele and a printed out pamphlete of theatre song chords that he can play
roman gets logan the sherlock script and an empty box just to fuck with him
logan gets roman the entire grimm fairytale series and tapes a note to the front that says “bcuz u are an illiterate fool😜”
patton gets logan a phone case with the stars that were out on the day they met, hand painted framed picture of him and logan, and comic con tickets for this spring
logan gets patton tickets to the art museum downtown, a gift card to the coffee shop next to it, and two gold hoop earrings with a note that says “next week, friday at 7. it’s a date ;)”
so christmas is pretty good for all :))))))
and that’s the end of this one i’ll make a part four soon lmao

Positive : Part 12
Wow it’s been a hot minute. I think the writer’s block is finally gone but don’t quote me on it! It’s shorter but I think you’ll enjoy it all the same! Enjoy! P.S don’t hate me for the ending thank you!
Summary: It’s Minncon and everybody is still abuzz about the album party
Pairing: Rob Benedict x Reader
Word Count: 1,940
Warnings: angst, fighting, matt benedict is a sweetheart, privacy invasion, ultimatums, stephen’s no longer a teddy bear
Disclaimer: this is pure FICTION. I mean no harm or hurt to the Benedict family, or others involved. Marnie is Rob’s fictional wife from Kings of Con. I originally used Mollie (his real wife) but ultimately decided to change it as it made me uncomfortable writing about her and his kids.
Tumblr media
If you knew this is where you’d be after finding out you were pregnant, you would’ve hidden in a cave until you gave birth. Fans sending hate after hate. For breaking up Rob’s marriage, for lying, people thinking you cheated on Stephen. The album party video went viral throughout the fandom. Yet here you were, at the convention in Minneapolis, ready to be bombarded with rude questions. Even though for the first time in your convention life, you decided to field your questions, making sure they were appropriate and semi-respectful, but you knew deep down there’d be a few who slipped through the cracks.
Ever since that night, you haven’t seen or talked to Rob. You only texted him back once. To tell him you didn’t love him back. Which deep down, you knew was the biggest lie you’ve ever told. You did love him, but you didn’t want to break Stephen’s heart. Yet, any feelings for Stephen were beginning to diminish. Ever since he found out about Rob being the father, he’s been controlling, if Rob even looked at you wrong this weekend, you were sure he would beat him up on the spot. Plus, knowing that Rob had feelings for you too, made being with someone else extremely difficult.
Entering the hotel, you checked in and got in the elevator. So far, so good, all you needed to do was make it to your room and- you rammed face first into someone’s chest.
“Oh god i’m so sorry, I was lost in my own thoughts and-” Once you looked up at who it was, your mouth went dry. “Rob.”
“Y/N” He breathed out, almost relieved to see you. “We really need to talk. About everything.”
You wanted to, god did you want to, but your brain was giving you flashing red signs. “Rob I don’t-”
You were cut off by Stephen exiting the other elevator. Right, you had texted him that you were here. Wrapping his arm around your torso, Stephen presses a kiss to your temple. “Hey babe. Missed you.”
Rob let out a heavy sigh. “Steve, Y/N and I need to talk. Considering a majority of it involves our child.” He made sure to enunciate the “our”, making it clear to Stephen that he wasn’t the father, and he never would be.
“Well, Y/N hasn’t expressed any interest in seeing you, and I don’t believe that changed. So we will be going to our room.” Stephen smirked triumphantly, grabbing your arm and pulling you towards your room.
Rob scoffed, but got in the elevator anyway, instead of going after you, like an idiot.
“Stephen, slow down!” You whispered, not to disturb the other hotel guests, as you always flew in late friday. “Stephen! You’re hurting my arm!” You shoved him off of you.
Stephen turned to look at you. “I’m sorry, I was just trying to get you out of there. I didn’t think you’d wanna talk to him.”
Opening your hotel room door, you groaned out in frustration. “Maybe if you let me get a word in, instead of making my decisions for me, you would know I could’ve handled it myself!”
Stephen stood speechless, you’d never yelled at him like that.
“I’ll be sleeping alone tonight. Goodnight Stephen.” You spat, slamming the door in his face, not waiting for a reply.
Saturday
As expected, all anyone wanted to talk about with you was the party and the fact that you and Rob had sex. Instead of being offended during your ops and autos, you plastered on a smile and said with enthusiasm “That’s why you use protection every single time!”.
Each one of them left with a little bit of a scowl on their face, but that’s what they get for being assholes. You were nearly 23 weeks pregnant, and extremely hormonal. Don’t mess with the mama bear.
SNS came quicker than expected because before you knew it, you were backstage while the band performed on stage. There was awkward tension though, because Rob’s brother, Matt was sitting right next to you. You had no idea what even to say. “Hey sorry I ruined your brother’s marriage?” You didn’t have much time to think it over before he tapped your shoulder.
“Hey. I’m Matt, but i’m sure you knew that already.” He gave you a grin, eerily similar to his brothers.
“Y/N, but i’m sure you’ve heard all about me. Homewrecker.” You sarcastically threw up jazz hands. “Listen, I just want to apologize to you and your family for ruining rob’s marriage-”
“I’m going to stop you right there. You did us all a favor. Marnie was always sweet to Rob, but she never liked sharing his attention. Even when they had Tyler, it was all about her. We all knew it was going to crack, we just didn’t know when. I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did to be completely honest.”
You were shocked. So she was always a bitch, Rob just never saw it. “Well, then I guess you’re welcome? I’m glad I could be of assistance.”
Matt chuckled, and eyed your stomach. “You know he’s excited right? He can’t wait for her. He sends our whole family ultrasounds now that it's out in the open. Couldn’t be happier honestly. The smile that he gets while talking about your daughter is the biggest one I've seen. Almost as big as the one he gets while talking about you.”
That revelation made your face heat up. Rob talks about you, to his family? “H-he talks about me? A lot?”
Matt nodded, his eyes occasionally darting back to the screen to watch his brother perform. “All the time. Sometimes it’s hard for him to shut up. I haven’t seen that much love in his eyes in a long time. Shame you don’t feel the same way.” And with that, the band came off the stage for a moment before the encore, Matt leaving to talk with his brother for a minute.
“Yeah, except I do.” You muttered to no one in particular, your voice being drowned out by the crowd screaming for the band. Stephen came over for a quick good luck kiss, which you barely reciprocated, before he got in line to go back out. Locking eyes with Rob, you felt your heart begin to beat faster as his blue eyes seemed to stare into yours perfectly. Only when billy hit Rob on the back of the head, did the eye contact break.
Deciding you’d had enough today, you sneaked away and got in an uber early, heading back to the hotel. Once you got in your room, you quickly changed into pajamas and crawled into bed, ignoring the numerous texts you got 20 minutes later from Stephen on your whereabouts. And for the second night in a row, you went to bed alone.
Sunday
Sunday went off without a hitch, but Matt’s words kept ringing in your mind. He wasn’t drunk when he texted you, and he meant it. But then there was Stephen. Your boyfriend.
Once Sunday had wrapped, Stephen had come to your room with some flowers, to apologize, which made you happy, but it was like getting flowers from your mom when you’re single on valentine’s day.
“I’m sorry I tugged on your arm too hard, and I’m sorry I didn’t let you handle yourself with Rob.” Stephen smiled sheepishly, waving the flowers around before putting them on the bed.
“That’s really sweet. Thank you.” You gave him a soft smile, but when he went in for the kiss, you turned so he got your cheek instead. He looked hurt. “Sorry. Haven’t brushed my teeth yet.” You made up that excuse, when in reality, you didn’t want to kiss him.
He took it though, shrugging his shoulders. “Rob wouldn’t shut up about you today. Kind of annoying.”
“Stephen i’m pregnant with his child, it’s gonna happen. I wish you two could go back to how things were. I don’t want to ruin a 20 year friendship.”
Stephen rolled his eyes. “I see the way he looks at you. And I saw the text.”
You felt anger begin to bubble up under your skin. “You went through my phone?! That’s private Stephen!”
“I’m your boyfriend. I think I’m allowed to look on your phone.”
“For google or something! Not going through my messages like a jerk!” You spat, crossing your arms.
“It’s not like you had anything to hide! He confessed his feelings and you turned him down! Simple!” Stephen yelled in return.
“That’s not the point! You invaded my privacy!”
“It’s starting to seem like you want to fight with me just to fight! What’s gotten into you?!” Stephen questioned, rage becoming apparent in his own features.
“You’re being a dick! You’ve changed since you found out that Rob’s the father. You’re controlling and borderline possessive!” You shouted back.
“I’m just trying to protect you and our relationship from him!”
“Why?!”
“Because I see the way you look at him! It’s the same way I look at you! I saw the little eye contact last night and I know that’s why you ran away! I’m trying not to lose you and I feel like the only way that's going to happen is if he’s out of your life!” Stephen yelled, his voice cracking a little bit.
“What are you saying?” You asked, a bit worried about the answer.
Stephen sighed and looked you in the eye. “I want Rob out of your life. Cons, i’ll manage its your job, but personal life, he’s out.”
You almost laughed. “Stephen, that’s not going to happen. He’s the father of my child,  and i’m not keeping him away from her.”
Stephen’s nostrils flared. “It’s either him or me. You need to choose because i’m done being strung along in your little game. And I know that if he stays, you’ll never fully love me.”
Your mouth was agape. He expected you to choose between him and Rob. He was making you choose.
“Him or Me, Y/N” Stephen spoke again, his voice harsh.
“I-”
Rob’s POV
Rob was laying in his bed, flicking through TV channels. This weekend hadn’t gone like he had hoped. He thought he’d be able to talk to you, try to make up for what Marnie did, but Stephen was everywhere. The second he’d try to talk to you, Stephen would be there, taking you away.
A knock on his door shook him from his thoughts. Who would be here this late?
Opening the door, Rob was shocked to come face to face with you. “Y/N. It’s late, what are you doing here?”
You pushed past him to enter the room and you turned to face him. “I lied.”
All color drained from Rob’s face. What did you lie about? Was Stephen actually the baby’s father? Had Marnie been right this whole time?
“A-about what?” Rob stuttered, shutting the hotel room door.
You took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes. “When you texted me that night, telling me you loved me and I told you I didn’t feel the same. I lied.”
Rob’s face had shock written all over it. “Does that mean-”
“Yes Rob. I am completely and utterly in love with you. I’ve been trying to hide it but I can’t anymore. And I just hope that deep down, you still love me too.” Your voice matched your face. Hopeful. “Please say you still love me and I’m not too late.”
Rob was still silent. It took him a moment before he opened his mouth. “I.”

Knock, Knock. Part 18.
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary: A jam session, bonfire, and apple cider. Things are about to get good. Also, a surprise turn at the end of the chapter.
Pairing: (single) Jensen x Reader
Warnings: Cussing. Fluff.
Word Count: 3971
A/N: This chapter did not end how I was planning. When I write, I just start typing what comes to me as I’m going. Because of that… This series may be a little longer than expected, but I’m excited to see what happens. Please let me know what you think, and what you think is going to happen! I would love your feedback!!! Enjoy!!! :)
Also, here are the songs that are in this chapter. Give them a listen if you haven’t so you understand some of the concept of them, and how they flow with the chapter.
Arms of a Woman- Amos Lee
Have yourself a merry little Christmas- Jensen Ackles
Angeles- Jensen Ackles
Part 18:
Everyone that had stuck around for the late portion of the party was gathered with their significant others, or everyone else around the bonfire. There were blankets, chairs, and logs set around the fire so that everyone had a spot to sit and warmth to cuddle in.
Jared and Gen were snuggled up under a giant quilt with each other, and sharing a log with Misha and his wife on the other end. Brianna and Kim were with their husbands on another log. Then Samantha, Oscar, and Ruth were in some lawn chairs on the other side. Jensen was sitting on a log in the middle with his guitar by himself so far. They were just waiting on you and Rob, (Benedict) who was going to get his own guitar, before they started any singing.
“Hey, is this seat taken?” Maggie asked snapping Jensen’s attention away from the backdoor where he had been staring waiting for you to come out.
“Huh? Oh, uh no. Take a seat.” He said being nice, but actually wishing it was you who was taking that spot.
Maggie sat down and leaned forward on the log looking into the fire.
“So, any special songs your playing tonight?” she asked turning to him.
“Um, I guess I’ll be taking song request since this was so spontaneous. I didn’t have any in mind.” He chuckled.
“Oh, Jensen! You should play Angeles! That’s my favorite song that you do.” Brianna said shooting her head up from her husband’s shoulder.
Jensen laughed as others started laughing and agreeing with her.
“Sure thing! Where’s Rob?” he asked as an excuse to look back at the house you had yet to come out of.
“He said he was getting his guitar out of the trunk.” Jared said.
Just seconds later, Rob came running out of the house with his guitar around his shoulder.
“Sorry, I had to tune her.” He said going to sit on the other side of Jensen.
“It’s all good.” Jensen said.
Rob started improvising and plucking a few strings to warm up.
Jensen leaned over and whispered to him, “Hey, did you see Y/N in there by chance?”
“Uh, yeah.” He kept strumming. “She was talking to some guy. I think it was her boyfriend. They looked like they were about to have a serious talk too.” He said before turning back to the group.
“Serious talk?” Jensen thought. “Oh, wow.” Jensen had a pretty good idea what was going to go down. At least he was hoping he had a good idea what was happening.
He didn’t know how long you were going to be so he let Rob play a few Christmas songs at first coming in and harmonizing every once and awhile. Then after everyone started pushing him to sing, he started playing Angeles as requested.
About 10 second into the song you had walked onto the porch having finished your talk with Cole. He had decided to leave after your ‘discussion’. Your face was slightly red from crying, but you weren’t ready to walk out to the group just yet. You leaned against the banister that you and Jensen had talked by earlier, and listened to the music playing from the distance. You knew Jensen could sing, but damn his voice was like a drug to your ears. You smiled at how content he looked with everyone, and how happy he was singing that song. You wondered who he was thinking of while he sang it.
That’s when you saw Maggie right next to him on the log he was sitting on. The smile that had found its way on your face fell.
The song was almost over, and you decided now was the perfect time to sneak over and find a seat. Luckily the redness on your face had gone down a little, plus with the fire as the only light you weren’t worried people would notice. Little did you know, there would be some person who can pick up the smallest things with you.
As Jensen sang the last part of the song, you found a spot in-between Ruth and Samantha in a lawn chair for yourself. Ruth turned over and patted your hand smiling at you as a way of saying hi. Sam doing the same.
Everyone started clapping for Jensen, and you looked over at him and joined in on the applause. He had been watching you ever since you took a seat. He smiled at you, and mouthed, “Are you ok?” without anyone else seeing it.
You nodded your head with a forced small smile that you put on. He gave you a look of disbelief, and you waved him off to reassure him. He gave you a weak smile in return not wanting to push you.
“I haven’t seen much of you since you sobered up.” Sam said pulling your attention to her. “Where have you been?”
“Here and there.” You answered with a soft smile. “Sorry, if I was a little much earlier. I don’t have the stress of work right now, and may have let loose a tad too much.” You chuckled shrugging your shoulder.
“Oh honey! I completely understand. Honestly, I love seeing people in their drunk state, and you are such a-”
“A hoot!” Ruth butted in.
The three of you laughed, and Sam nodded her head in agreement.
“Oh, I bet I was!” you laughed with them.
“So, where is that boyfriend of yours. I’ve been waiting to meet him all night.” Ruth said in her gorgeous accent.
“Um, actually-“ you paused not knowing how to answer, but luckily Brianna spoke up before you needed to answer.
“Hey, Y/N/N! Remember that one time you said you would sing if we ever had a jam session?” she yelled over to you causing everyone to turn their heads to you.
“Oh, um… I don’t know Bri-“ you started.
“Nope! You can’t say no! You promised and I will throw a tantrum right here and right now if you don’t follow up with it.”
“Really… I don’t think you want-“
“Come on Y/N/N, let them hear that angelic voice of yours.” Gen said from across the fire.
“Gen-“
Everyone started chanting your name, and you tried to wave them off, but they were relentless.
Maggie got up and walked over to you as they kept chanting.
“Hey, we can swap spots so you can sing with Jensen if you want.” She said sweetly.
“No, it’s fine. I don’t want to make you move.”
Yes, you did. You really wanted to sit by Jensen.
“Come on Y/N! Rob doesn’t bite!” Jensen yelled. “I can’t promise the same for me though.” He winked.
You decided there was no more fighting it. The chanting had only got louder.
You rolled your eyes, and stood up wrapping the blanket you had around your shoulders as you put a hand up in surrender. Everyone started cheering and you made your way over to go sit in between Jensen and Rob as they moved over to put you in the center.
“What song you thinking?” Rob asked.
“I wasn’t thinking any song.” You said in a sassy tone to Jensen and smiled before turning to Rob. “Honestly, you guys start playing something, and I’ll see if I can join in.”
“Nope. That’s just a sneaky way to not sing at all.” Jensen said making everyone laugh.
“Ok, fine! Someone pick a Christmas song!” you shouted into the crowd. “I may also need another drink in me before we start this.”
“I’ll go grab some hot chocolates and cider!” Gen said jumping up.
“Not the kind of drink I was thinking, but-“
“I’ll help!” Brianna said jumping up with Kim by her side.
“Um, ma’am you’re the one that wanted me singing, and now you’re running off.” You shouted at her.
“If you think I’m going to let you sing just one song… Then you have another thing coming at you sister.” She said with a wink as she ran to help Gen.
“Brianna!” you yelled at her, but she was far gone.
“So, what’ll it be?” Jensen asked bringing your attention back to him.
You looked in his eyes, and cocked your head before turning to the fire to think. You quickly shot your head back to him.
“Have yourself a Merry little Christmas.” You said. “I have a feeling you may know that one.”
“You listened to the Christmas album with the cast, didn’t you?” he said with a proud grin.
“Hey, I’m a fan of the show, and I wanted to see if Jared here, could actually hit a key.” You said looking over at Jared who just smiled and rolled his eyes.
“Ok, well you heard the woman! Have yourself a Merry little Christmas it is.” He said starting to play. “Do you want me to start, or you?” he asked.
“You go. I’ll come in.” you said. He gave you a look. You giggled and put your hands on your chest. “Promise.”
He smiled and looked down at his guitar and started playing the beautiful intro before eventually singing.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Let your heart be light. From now on our troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Make the yuletide gay. From now on our troubles will be miles away.
You decided to join in and harmonize now. Catching him by surprise and causing him to stare at you the whole time you sang.
Here we are as an olden day. Happy golden days of yore. Loving friends who are dear to us, gather near to us once more.
You had looked out into the fire and to your group of friends as well, getting slightly nervous about singing with Jensen so close. You started singing the next part and Jensen stopped, wanting to just hear you sing.
Through the years we all will be together. If the fates allow. Hang a shining star upon the highest place. So have yourself a merry little Christmas.
The last part Rob and Jensen came in harmonize and singing with you.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Have yourself a merry little Christmas. So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.
You didn’t realize it, but for the last couple of verses you and Jensen had been staring into each others green and y/e/c eyes without breaking. Entranced by each other. You were broken out of your spell when everyone started clapping.
You turned to see everyone looking at you both and smiling wide. Jared had a smug look on his face that you weren’t sure meant, but Jensen gave him a look that caused him to throw his hands up in surrender before looking away. You cocked an eyebrow at the interaction, but didn’t have time to think about it when Brianna came up behind you and shook your shoulders.
“Well would you look at the pipes on her! Where have you been hiding those suckers?” she said bending down and wrapping her arms around you, giving you a tight hug around your shoulder. “Come on! Encore!”
“No, no, no.” you said shaking your head and starting to stand. “You got all you could get out of me.” You tried sneaking away. “I’m just going to go help Gen get those drinks.”
You felt a hand grab your wrist before you could get too far.
“Come on Y/N/N. Once more song?” Jensen said rubbing his thumb on your wrist just enough to feel like shocks of electricity on your skin.
You turned back to see his green eyes pleading. How could you say no to that face?
You turned to look at the house and saw Gen a Kim come out with trays of mugs.
You looked back at Jensen who’s face hadn’t changed.
“Ok, one more song. Then after that I just want to listen.” You spun to Brianna. “Ok?”
“I’ll take what I can get.” She said all innocent like before grabbing a mug and sitting back down with her husband.
You sat back down by Jensen snuggling into your blanket as Gen handed you a mug with apple cider. You thanked her and turned to Jensen who hadn’t taken his eyes off you.
“What’s another song we could do?”
“Christmas?” he asked.
“Nah, let’s try something else.” You said. “How about…”
“Oh Y/N! Do Arms of a Women! I love when you sing that one!” Gen spoke up as she got comfortable with Jared.
“I don’t think anyone knows that song, Gen.”
“So? It’s such a beautiful song. They’ll love it!” Gen said.
“Is it by Amos Lee?” Rob said.
“Yeah, you know it?”
“Actually, yeah. I can harmonize with you if you want.” He said putting the capo on the guitar.
“Actually, if you want to lead it I can harmonize. It’s my favorite song to harmonize to.” You said.
“Sounds good.” He said starting to pluck the strings.
“Y/N and her brother use to play this song all the time. It was their mom’s favorite, and she would always force them to sing it to her.” Gen giggled.
“You’re not wrong.” You laughed with her.
Rob started playing and you came in and started harmonizing where it sounded best.
Through the whole song Jensen was watching your every move. You had closed your eyes after a couple of verses and were swaying to the sound of the guitar. You were completely one with the song.
The songs lyrics were making him think of you and everything he loved about you. You were captivating. Just like the brightest star in the night sky. That’s all he could think of while he watched you. Did he just find his star?
His eyes jump at the realization, and the song ended. Everyone started clapping again snapping him out of his thoughts. He quickly threw on a smile and joined them.
You had a red tint on your face, and you smiled softly. He could tell you were nervous, and had got lost in the music. Without thinking, he threw an arm around you and pulled you into a side hug. He moved his other arm around you and squeezed you as he put his chin on your head.
“That was beautiful, Y/N/N.” he whispered into your hair.
You giggled and moved to look up in his eyes.
“Thanks J.”
“Shit,” he thought. “I’m a goner.” Was all he could think when he looking in those big Y/E/C eyes of yours.
__
You all continued the rest of the night with different people singing. Brianna and Ruth sang at one point making everyone join in with them.
The night was full of laughter, stories, and tons of love.
It started getting late, and people started filtering out since tomorrow was Christmas eve and a lot of them needed to get out to family.
“Thanks guys for staying and helping us clean up.” You said to Gen grabbing some empty cups and putting them in a trash bag.
Gen was fixing the couch to its original layout, and Jared and Jensen were in the kitchen cleaning up their bartending mess.
“No problem! So, do you think it was a hit tonight? Everyone seemed to have a great time!” she said folding a blanket and turning to you.
“I think it was! I’m excited to do it again.” You said tying up the trash bag, and putting the last bit of trash in it.
“Good. I would love for you guys to host again. The bonfire was a genius idea. I’m going to have to get Jared started on making one for us.” She winked.
You laughed as you fluffed a pillow.
“Hey, Y/N?”
“Hmm?”
“Everything ok with you and Cole? I saw he never came, but I overheard Rob tell Jensen that you guys were talking. A serious one at that.”
“Oh, that…” you said stopping what you were doing and turning around.
“You don’t have to talk about it right now if you don’t want to, but fair warning I can tell when something’s not right. You looked like you had been crying when you finally came outside.”
“Was it that noticeable?” you said hoping it wasn’t.
“No, no, no!” she said walking over you and rubbing her hands up and down your arms. “It’s just- I know you, and I know your facial expressions. Anyone who cares for you does.” She said with a gentle smile.
“I broke up with Cole.” You said abruptly.
“What?” she whispered shocked, and not wanting the boys in the other room to overhear.
“I-I just didn’t feel a spark with him. I think I was imagining it at the beginning because I wanted to feel it so bad, you know?” you said sitting down and Gen went to sit on the arm of the chair next to you. “Please tell me I’m not a horrible person for leading him on this long.”
“It’s only been a month Y/N. Besides, you didn’t think you were leading him on. You genuinely thought that you guys were hitting it off. Nothing wrong with feelings changing.” She reassured you.
“How do you always know what to say?” you asked.
“Maybe because I know a thing or two about relationships. Remember the guys I used to date? You always had my back when things went downhill.” She placed a hand on yours.
“Yeah, you did have some rough ones.” You laughed sadly.
“Yeah, and you helped me through them. I’ll always return the favor.” You both chuckled lightly. “Hey, what do you say you and me have a girl’s day tomorrow before all the Christmas Eve festivities start up. You can vent while we go get a mani-pedi, and have a full blown spa day.” She said getting up and picking up a piece of trash you both missed.
“I would love that, but I’m headed home tomorrow for Christmas with family.” You said following her to the kitchen where the boys were finishing up.
“You never told me that.” Jensen and Gen said at the same time.
“I didn’t? I could’ve sworn I did.” You said thinking back.
“I don’t remember anything about it…” Jensen said wiping the counter but watching you still.
“Yeah, I wish I would’ve known. I would have bought gifts for your parents to send up there with you.” Gen said wrapping an arm around Jared’s waist.
“Sorry. I really thought I told you. Must of dreamt it.” You said pushing hair out of your face and leaning on the counter.
“Well, now I have no one to spend Christmas with.” Jensen pouted with a dramatic frown.
“What are you talking about? You’re going to your parents I thought.” You said putting your elbows on the counter and leaning forward to him.
“Yeah, what she said.” Jared said curiously.
“Nope. They called yesterday saying the tickets they bought for some beach house, that they thought was after Christmas, were actually for the 23rd -26th. They already left. We are planning on having a late Christmas together and celebrating on the 27th.” He said looking between you all.
“Ok, yeah that was never mentioned.” You said with a laugh through your nose. “Jensen, you can’t celebrate Christmas all alone here.” You said motioning to the space around you.
“Eh, I’ll be fine. You need to go visit your family anyway.” He said waving you off, but was slightly sad that he would be alone.
“Nonsense. You can come hang out with us. The boys would love to have you.” Gen said.
“Guy’s I’m not crashing your Christmas. Plus, you guys are headed down to San Antonio to see your parents Jared.” Jensen said.
“J-“ Jared started.
“You can come with me.” You said shocking everyone. They all turned to you. “Honestly, Cole was going to come up for a few days to meet my family, but now-“ you paused and Gen gave you a look waiting to see what you would say. You cleared your throat. “Something came up and he can’t now.”
“Y/N/N-“ Jensen began.
“I have an extra ticket. My parents are expecting someone with me, and I doubt they would hate meeting the person I’m living with.” You said cutting him off.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to impose-“
“Jens. Take the offer. I would love for you to meet my family, and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I let you spend Christmas alone.” You said going around the counter and putting your hands on his shoulders. “Please?”
He thought about it for a minute. He wanted to say yes immediately, but then he started thinking about everything that could go wrong, and what this could do to your friendship. He turned to look at Gen and Jared. Gen was raising her eyebrows and shrugging saying go for it. Jared had a cocky smile on his face and gave a shrug like Gen.
“Ok. If you insist.” He answered looking back in your eyes.
“Yay!” you said giving him a surprisingly tight hug. “Ugh, now I don’t have to worry about you laying around here doing nothing all day on Christmas.” You said pulling away.
“Well, now that that’s all settled. We should probably head home. I’m sure my mom is ready for us to check in with her.” Gen said patting Jared’s chest.
“Oh, right. I’ll walk you guys to the door.” You said.
They grabbed the few things they brought and you ushered them to the door telling them goodnight, and to drive safe.
“Y/N, are you sure about me staying with your family. I don’t want to over step your boundaries-“ Jensen said as soon as you shut the door and were headed to the living room together.
“Ackles.” You turned around and grabbed both of his hand in yours. He looked down immediately at the contact, then quickly back up at your eyes. He started rubbing circles on your hand with his thumbs without noticing, but you did and it sent shivers up your arm. “I-I would love for you to meet my family. Also, I would love my family to meet you. Trust me, you are not pushing any boundaries. You know I would put you in your place if you were.” You winked squeezing his hands before letting go, and walking upstairs.
He followed you never breaking eye contact from your form.
“Ok, anything I should know about them so I don’t push any wrong buttons?”
You had reached your room and had put a hand on the doorknob before stopping and turning around to look at him.
“I’ll tell you all about it on the plane ride tomorrow. Be ready by 8am. Flight is at 9:45. I would advise packing tonight.” You said opening the door and starting to walk in.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“Thank you. You didn’t have to do this.”
“I wanted to.” You said with a sweet smile. “Goodnight Jens. Get some shut eye. Oh, and- thank you for tonight. It was a good night for the most part.”
“Why are you thanking me?”
“Because. You gave me a talk I really needed. I promise we can talk about it tomorrow too.”
“Good, cause you did say we would finish it.”
“I did say that didn’t I?” you said slyly and with a grin.
“Hmmm Mmmm.” He hummed with the same grin.
“Well, I guess you’ll have to wait until tomorrow.” You said shutting the door.
“Goodnight sweetheart!” he yelled through your door.
“Night Ackles!” you yelled back.
With that, he turned and headed to his room to pack for the adventure that was to come for Christmas.

Not The One
Tumblr media
Characters: Rob Benedict x Reader; Rob Benedict x Joanne (OFC); Julie (OFC).
Written By: @gettingbywithalittlehelp96 & @itsfunnierin-enochian
Summary: Your friend asks your help for a gift and you, perhaps, get something far too special for a simple birthday gift.
Masterlist
Chapter 6 After that night you shared with Rob you couldn't stop thinking about him. It was like that was the last thing you needed. The last drop of...love. Yes, you were in love with Rob and even though you tried to deny it to yourself, it wasn't possible.
You also felt like the worst friend ever, what kind of person falls in love with her best friend's boyfriend? That wasn't okay. You didn’t feel okay, and trying to keep the distance only seemed to make it harder.
He was so smart, so sweet and funny, and it was very hard to find a man that was decent like that. None of the guys you had met in your life were anything close to Rob, and neither were the guys Jo met. He was unique, in his own way, and he had this relaxing effect on you that was hard to describe.
For the next couple of days, Rob was there all the time. He had even started talking to you more. Jo, naturally, thought it was “wonderful” that you were finally getting along, but the reality was that every second you spent in Rob’s presence became harder and harder for you. Finally the day came that Rob said he wasn’t able to make it over and just as you had gotten your hopes up that you would have a break from thinking about him, Jo happened.
“Y/N, Y/N, you have to help me," she pleaded.
She didn’t even knock. She just burst right in, plopping down dramatically on the edge of your bed, where you had been laying and reading a book.
You hated helping Jo. Most of the time she wanted help with her boy troubles and it was impossible to find a solution to those. That is if there was a real problem.
“What is it Jo?” you sighed, closing your book and setting it on the nightstand.
“I need help with Rob. It’s his birthday and I think I should probably get him something.”
“Probably? Is it even a question of whether or not you should get your great boyfriend a gift for his birthday?” you thought to yourself.
“It’s just he’s so weird when it comes to his interests and stuff,” she continued with a pout.
Weird? Rob was probably one of the simplest men you've ever met in your life and that was only after talking with him briefly. Maybe it was just the kind of person you were, but the moment she said something, you had immediately thought of at least five things to get him. You couldn’t tell her that, however, so you acted like you were uninterested.
“Okay, but why don't you just buy him something yourself? He's gonna like whatever you give him.”
“Actually I’m not going to have time tomorrow to go shopping and since i know how much you enjoy the shopping thing...” Trailing off she gave you a big smile like she always did when she wanted you to do her a favour.
“Really?” you scoffed. “You think I have the time to go buy your boyfriend a birthday gift?”
Though you were acting bothered, you really were looking forward to shopping for him.
“Yes, because I know you have the day off tomorrow,” Jo answered. “Come on y/n, please?”
“Oh alright, but I don't want you to complain, you hear me? You will accept whatever I get.”
“Yes, yes! Thank you!”
She kissed your cheek and hugged you so tight, and for a moment you felt guilty for liking Rob in the first place, but you couldn't fight it anymore. It was enough that you had to live with it.
The next morning you woke up early, had breakfast and went straight to the record store downtown. It was the only record store left in the city, and because of that you knew it would have exactly what you were looking for. You were sure Rob had to know about the place, but the whole time you shopped you couldn’t stop thinking about how maybe one day, you and Rob would be able to go there together.
Half an hour later you finally found the three Pearl Jam vinyls you were looking for and after allowing yourself to feel excited about it, remembered that the gift was going to have Jo's name on the package, not yours. But well, at least you got to know how special this would be for Rob.
The icing on top of the cake was that you knew Julie had contact with a couple of people, close to Pearl Jam, and in forty minutes you got the news that she was getting one of the vinyls signed. She asked why you needed it so bad and why you needed it so soon, but since you really couldn’t let anyone know how you had a massive crush on your friend's boyfriend, you just said it was for you.
By that evening you had arrived back at your apartment from Julie’s with the signed vinyl, along with two others, wrapped in a box with a blue bow, and when Jo walked in and saw the contents on your lap she gave you a big smile.
“Oh my, what is that?” she asked walking over and sitting down next to you.
“That,” you said pointing to the box. “That is your gift for Rob.”
Taking it from you, she briefly examined it before looking back at you. “Okay what is it?”
“Vinyls,” you replied with a smile. “You know how much he loves Pearl Jam...”
“Oh, yeah, right,” she said interrupting you. “I think that was the band that Rob was showing me pictures of on his phone. I don’t know there was some band he really liked and had seen a few times he was telling me.”
You couldn’t help but to stare at her in confusion for a couple minutes. It was like she really had no idea how special Rob was, with how much he loved things, and as she got up and started to walk away, you remembered how you didn’t have the chance to mention the one that was signed.
“Oh hey, Jo one of the albums is signed. Just so you know.”
“Wh….” Almost looking confused, she looked down at the box and back at you. “Well, this is a very beautiful gift y/n, thank you. I'm sure he will love it.”
You smiled in response, but as Jo walked away to her room you couldn’t help but notice she still looked confused. Shrugging it off, you figured she just didn’t get Rob’s fascination with the band and grabbed your book off of the coffee table to continue reading. You had just gotten leaned back and turned to the page you had left off on when Jo popped her head back out of her room.
“Y/N, how do you know he doesn't have this?” She asked curiously.
“Oh, he just mentioned it one day when we talked. We were talking about music and stuff like that and he just kind of mentioned it," you said smiling as you remembered the moment with Rob.
With a small smile, she nodded and shut herself back in her room, you went back to reading. Something that had become impossible now that you were thinking about Rob again and that particular night to shared just talking.

SPN MinnCon Day 3
You know what, I’m pulling the I-just-gave-birth-to-a-tiny-helpless-human card. That’s why I didn’t get back to this sooner. Also my mom and aunt were in town helping out a ton but it also kept me away from Tumblr most days.
So. MinnCon Day 3. This day was the day for me. I had been looking forward to the whole weekend for months. But truly, this day was something that I had been freaking out about for about two weeks for two reasons. 1.) Jared Photo Op. 2) Jared 30 Minute Meet and Greet.
I’ll preface this with the fact that I am a dyed-in-the-wool Jared/Sam stan. I cannot get enough of him and his smile and his sense of humor and his hair and his compassion and his empathy and his brain and his eyes. Okay, yeah, I love the 6′4″ mansuit he inhabits, too.
When you read this, you’re going to see a lot of Jared. A decent bit of Jensen, too (I took a lot of pictures of him). But I’ll be writing a lot more about Jared. Except for the meet and greets. Which... ugh, I wish I could tell you guys about his 30 minute meet and greet as well as his 10 minute for VIP. But I can’t. :(
Buckle up bitches, this shits long...
Tumblr media
It was the first picture I took.
The day started out with the Gold Panel. If you haven’t seen it yet, my fellow VIP’er, Sue, gave Jared a thing of cupcakes when he called on her for a question and she didn’t have one ready. So she asked him if he wanted a cupcake. There’s rules about giving them food; I guess they’re not supposed to take it, but Jared was like, “Uh shit yeah I want a cupcake.”
He was only supposed to take one for each of them. But I don’t think he could hear her very well. So he took the whole thing. I was supposed to eat one of those fucking cupcakes.
And then:
CUPCAKEPOCALYPSE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It went on for several minutes. Jared dropped the cupcakes (THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO EAT) and made a giant mess. A creation staff person came out to help, a fan offered baby wipes, and Jensen had to help clean Jared’s face.
“Help a brother out, man.”
“You are beyond help.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brothers. I swear.
Questions were fun and it was during this panel that I could tell that the day would be distinctly different from previous con’s Sundays. We all know Jared is quite a bit more talkative than Jensen. But today, that would not be the case. Someone put a quarter in Jensen...
Tumblr media
He’s so pretty.

Again, I’m not sure what someone said (I know I could go watch the video but, time) but Jensen busted out the imaginary popcorn.
And then there were more wonderful pictures of Jared.

See. Lots of Jared.
If you want to see ALL of the pictures I took (and edited) from the entire weekend:

The flicker album will be available until flickr decides to get rid of free accounts or whatever nonsense Yahoo wants to do with flickr.
After the gold panel I had Jared’s 30 minute meet and greet and his photo op. I was hoping that by waiting to post this, I’d have my .jpg from Chris, but I don’t.  The meet and greet was fantastic. There were 20 people in that session, and we drew numbers for seats. I got number 6 which ended up being right in the middle of the front row. I don’t know how I got so fucking lucky...
I got to ask my very weird question and got a very cogent and incredibly self-aware answer that kind of blew me away. And we even had time to sneak in my follow-up, which also resulted in another ridiculously self-aware response. And he remembered these questions because he later brought the topic up again at the 10 minute VIP.
Now the photo op. I’m pretty sure this interaction tops the entire weekend (just sneaking past his autograph and getting a smooch from Rob Benedict). Remember the fact that I’m 37 weeks pregnant. I had no clue what the hell to do for this photo op. I was wearing my self-made maternity “Love Yourself First” t-shirt, all black, with red/black buffalo plaid. I don’t know if it was entirely obvious that I was pregnant as I walked up to Jared for my op.
The VIP folks with his op got to go first. I opted, out of the four of us with his op, to go last. I walked up as Bang A Gong (Get It On) played, and whenever there is music playing, I cannot help but dance a bit. So my dumbass does my white-girl shimmy up to him and he laughed as he did his own short dance, but then proceeded to damn near do the splits to take the picture. I’m 5′4″. He’s 6′4″. I definitely didn’t want to take a picture with my face at his sternum. He knew that.
But other than that I didn’t know what to do. So I told him that. Here’s the conversation:
“Hey. I really don’t know what to do because she’s in the way,” I said as I pointed at my very-much-in-the-way-pregnant-stomach.
Jared’s eyes popped when he looked and then immediately started rubbing my stomach. Now normally, I would not have been okay with some rando touching my pregnant stomach without asking.
Jared Padalecki is not some rando. And he asked, “How far along are you?”
I laughed as I said, “I’m due in three weeks.”
If I thought his eyes popped before, they damn near fell out of his head at that. He replied, “Holy shit, how the fuck are you on your feet?! That is so badass, I can’t believe you’re here!” He held up his hand for a high-five, which I did, and he grabbed my hand to hold on to it. He then asked me my name. I told him and mentioned I’d been to the con last year with my sister and she was sad she couldn’t make it this year. And he then said, “Jeanna, awesome, I’m so sorry your sister couldn’t be here. But, how are you feeling? Do you need anything?” I told him I was great and that I’d been looking forward to this for months even though I’m huge and was really nervous about this photo op.
He then pulled me into him, wrapped his arms around me (like he does for most of his ops) and we took the picture. With his arms still around me, he looked me in the eye and said, “It was wonderful to meet you again. I am so glad you are here and that you’re doing so well. Is this your first?”
“Yup.”
“I am so happy for you, that’s awesome. I remember Gen had the pregnancy glow, you look absolutely stunning, you’re rockin’ it hard. Thank you again for being here. I’ll see you again later in VIP.”
I thanked him and hugged him once more and he kissed the top of my god damn head.
And then I left the photo op room. As I was walking out of the room, a fellow VIP’er was waiting for me and saw me walking out. I think I had the worst dead-eyes face on because she said, “What happened?! Did something go wrong with your op?!”
And I said, “No. It was amazing I’m fucking speechless and don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m forgetting something. I... don’t know what to do all of a sudden.”
“Breathe, honey. You’re forgetting to breathe.”
Youre god damn right I was forgetting to breathe. I mean, this just happened:

I couldn’t have asked for a better photo.
Moving on...
Next was Mark Pellegrino’s panel which was stellar. I love him.

Rob came out eventually and was giving Mark the Dad stare. I kinda wish Rob would look at me like that... eh, @atc74?
Tumblr media
And then there was some funny God and His Children interactions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Such a stellar cast.
And then there was the Jensen and Jared main panel.
Guys. Gals. There are so many fucking pictures I took. Here’s a random sampling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was an amazing panel. Like I said someone put a quarter in Jensen and he was just on point this year. Compared to other cons and videos I’ve watched, he really came out of his shell at this event and put on an amazing show with Jared. I absolutely recommend watching all the videos from this convention because they are so worth it.
After the main panel was Mark’s, Jensen’s, and Jared’s 10 minute VIP meet and greets. Holy shit were they great. Again, can’t really talk about them, but I got to sit next to Jared and he doesn’t understand personal space. I’ll leave it at that.
The night ended with autographs. I hit up Jared’s first, which in hindsight wish I’d done last but oh well. I hopped in line and when he saw me he said, “Remind me how long you’ve got?” as he reached out and touched my stomach again. I told him it was three weeks out and he smiled and shook his head as he said, “Damn, you are a fucking trooper. Congratulations again. Keep kickin’ ass.” He signed the photo, thanked me, and I thanked him. Right as I stepped away, he said, “You tweet that baby’s picture right away! I wanna see her face!”
I did tweet a picture, but I don’t think he saw it. That’s okay, I didn’t really think he would.
Jensen was next, who I had sign my J2 op from the previous year with my sister. While signing, his mala bead bracelet got stuck on the table cloth. My first thought was to say, “What did you do, Ray?” in my best Winston impression. And Jensen didn’t miss a beat. “I couldn’t help it. It just popped in there...”
Thanks for knowing your Ghostbusters references, Jensen.
Last but not least was Misha. Aside from his 10-min meet and greet, I’d never really interacted with him. There was a short wait for him as he finished up his Castiel photo ops. My VIP liaison and I were waiting together because she had an op for his auto too. And then he arrived, got settled and waved us over. I had him sign the first op my sister and I ever got from 2016 with Misha and Mark Sheppard. Mark had signed it last year.
And Misha remembered from VIP on Saturday that I was pregnant and asked me about it. When I told him it was a girl, he said, “Oh yeah, you’re gonna love it, it’s stupidly fun. Picked a name yet?” and I told him we decided on Elizabeth. His response was, “How cool, my sister’s name is Elizabeth. You have fun with that baby and don’t listen to anyone. Follow your gut. Science, too. But trust yourself. You got this.”
And then we were done. I went back to the VIP room, helped clean up a bit, gathered my stuff, and headed for my car. The second I walked out of the room, I started crying because... it was over. Everything was done, all the things I’d been looking forward to for months were... done. Just like that, in the blink of an eye, the weekend was behind me.
I’m still not over it. I’m waiting for the next opportunity to meet them all again. I called my sister in that moment of sudden sadness and told her that we absolutely had to do VIP together at Chicago, or hope they come back to Minneapolis soon. I can’t imagine doing a con without VIP again.
And the weekend wouldn’t have been what it was without all the people I met and new friends I made. You’re all wonderful and amazing and I can’t thank you enough for how welcoming you all were.
I hope you all enjoyed reading these. I think I’ll put a master post together to link to all three parts/days and add a link to the flickr album there as well. Thanks again for reading!

I was tagged by @marsdaydream who is so wonderful :) thank you, pal!! I love these, both doing then and reading them
Rules: answer 30 questions and tag 20 blogs you would like to know better
nicknames: Beene, Bean, Milton, Dottie, a bunch more variatios of beene (er, ie, etc), Meggles
gender: queer and genderqueer femme dyke  (she/they pronouns please)
star sign: Taurus sun and moon, Gemini rising
height: 5′5″ or so
time: 8:40pm

(Please note my gay ass roots with all those queer lady bands)
favourite solo artists: Amy Ray, Kaia Wilson, Sia, Sarah Dougher, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Jens Leckman, Joan Armatrading, Dolly Parton, Maren Morris, Dar Williams, Kate Bush...probably a lot more than that. I do enjoy a solo artist.
song stuck in my head: Currently a rotation of 1D songs (18, Happily, If I Could Fly, No Control) and Niall Horan’s “Too Much to Ask”--I think it’s my fave off his album, or at least has my fave lyric “watch the sun coming up, don’t it feel fucked up we’re not in love?”
last movie I watched: Last night I watched “But I’m a Cheerleader” and my last in theater movie was the Jumanji reboot
when did I create my blog: June 2012--this was Mars’ answer and it’s mine too! I like that!
what do I post: Queer shit, Sherlock, 1D, Martin Freeman thirst, witchy shit, TMI personal shit, multi-fandom squee, femslash, and my own brand of underappreciated yet insightful texts posts (ha)
last thing I googled: umm probably a 1D thing honestly. I’m not gonna look because it will certainly embarrass me.
do I have other blogs: I used to co-run a benedict cumberbatch meme blog, darlingdomesticbatch. It’s still there but it’s basically a hole of sadness and I don’t look at it any more. I made a couple of random side blogs here--heycheeselady, sassymartinfreeman, but I really don’t post to them. I DO have a dreamwidth which is basically the new version of my old livejournal and an old diaryland diary that I post emotional prose poetry to like an emo teenager. I have had it since my early 20s and will never willingly give it up (and only rarely share it)
do I get asks?: Rarely, though I do have a couple of folks who will send me meme asks or prompts if I ask for them.
why did I choose my URL: umm it was tough. I wanted something that was overtly queer and I think my first choice of homosocial or homosocialist was taken. For some reason that morphed into homosocially yours, like signing off a letter. The subtitle is “I am a homosocialsexual, which is really the heart of it.
following blogs: 638. I am sure a lot are inactive at this point, because it doesn’t *feel* like that many.
followers: 781, right now. I don’t pay attention to the number so much as the interactions I have, which are great. I am lucky to have amazing mutuals <3
favourite colours: Pink and green
average hours of sleep: 5-12. IDK with this weird fatigue plus insomnia. Sometimes I can’t force myself to fall asleep and sometimes it’s all I can do.
lucky numbers: 5, 13, yes it’s my birthday numbers but I still think they’re lucky.
what am i wearing: blue lularoe carly dress (like a soft and pretty pajama dress) and blue buffalo check pajama pants.
how many blankets do i sleep with: softest blanket + sheets when it’s not too cold or too hot. On colder nights I add a down comforter.
dream job: The job I have, when I am able to work it. I’m currently on medical leave, figuring out wtf is wrong with me. But when I do get to work I’m a cheesemonger at a cooperatively owned grocery store that’s non-hierarchically structured. It’s like owning my own cheese counter with 10 other people. I love it.
dream trip: Toss up between a visit to all the 50 states, stopping for several days at national parks and to visit friends, a 3 week Hawaii extravaganza, and a cheese-focused tour of Europe.
favourite food: Cheese. Obviously. :)
nationality: I’m from the southern US (Georgia/Tennessee). Not the best place to be from for a lot of reasons, but I do appreciate that I can’t hide from my whiteness being from there.
favourite song right now: Ohh man. That Niall song I mentioned above, or pretty much anything off his album. “Seeing Blind” is another fave. “Ever Since New York” or “From the Dining Table” from Harry Styles’ album, though again the whole thing is killer. And “No Control” maybe from 1D? I am seriously in such a 1D tornado at the moment that I love everything <3

Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/rob-benedict-louden-swain-kings-con-certain-supernatural-book/
Rob Benedict on Louden Swain, 'Kings of Con,' and a certain 'Supernatural' book
Our Lynn Lubernis had one of her deep-dive interviews with Rob Benedict where he got to give some updates on Louden Swain, Kings of Con and the chapter he wrote in "Family Don't End with Blood." Even with her last book still selling faster than Girl Scout Cookies outside of a Weight Watchers check-in facility, Lynn has got another book that just hit titled "Supernatural Psychology: Roads Lee Traveled" with an insightful introduction from everyone's favorite devil Mark Pellegrino, who we interviewed just this week. To get your hands on "Supernatural Psychology," check it out here for that perfect stocking stuffer along with that other perfect holiday gift "Family Don't End with Blood." One day last week, I was driving my niece to school with the Louden Swain ‘Saturday Night Special’ cd playing. My niece has a developmental disability and is not very verbal, and that can make life extra challenging. It was early, but when Eskimo came on, without thinking, I turned it up a bit and maybe started singing. And maybe started drumming on my steering wheel a little. (Hey, it’s one of my favorite songs, so…) Suddenly I heard a noise to my right and noticed movement. I turned my head, and my niece was not only humming along but was air drumming enthusiastically. With the BIGGEST smile on her face. I grinned back, and we rocked the hell out of the rest of that song, and then put it on repeat. It was one of the most fun drives I’ve ever had at 8:00 in the morning. A few days later, I had a chance to catch up with Rob Benedict and I shared that story. Rob: Awww, that’s so sweet, I love that. Lynn: Your music is pretty special, obviously. Rob: That’s so great. Lynn: it was. So thanks for that. Okay, so questions. First I wanted to ask you about the chapter you wrote for Family Don’t End With Blood (which you can get here for all those Supernatural fans looking for a great stocking stuffers!). You really did write a very personal and very powerful chapter, all about having a stroke at the Toronto convention several years ago. So many fans who have read it have told me how moved they were by your chapter. What kind of feedback have you gotten, and how does it feel now to have written such a personal unguarded chapter? Rob: It’s been absolutely overwhelming, the response. There are still a number of people who didn’t really know that happened to me. So it varies, from people feeling empathy to people saying a similar thing happened to someone that they know, or just that the sentiment was something that they recognized. People say the nicest things, about it being one of their favorite chapters in the book, and all sorts of unbelievably gracious and complimentary things. I wind up signing as many books as I do head shots of myself. I think it means a lot to people. And I don’t think you automatically get my autograph with your ticket to the con or whatever. Lynn: No, you hardly ever do. Unfortunately. Rob: Right, so people are buying that so I can sign their book, which I think is the biggest compliment to you and the effect that Family Don’t End With Blood has had on people. Lynn: And to you, because your chapter is one of the ones that really made an impact! I’ve gotten such incredible reactions to the book. It had the exact effect that we were all hoping for – as support and inspiration for people when they’re struggling. I’ve heard stories of people sharing the book with their parent, saying this is what’s helping me not cut anymore. I’ve heard people say that this makes all the difference – that they’ve been ready to give up, and then went back and read one of the chapters about people they admire having their own life and death struggles – and decided to keep going. Rob: Ah that’s amazing, that’s what I mean about it being overwhelming. It’s like, you almost can’t even fathom how much it means to people and how life-saving it’s been. I’ve experienced that with our music as well. It’s something about this fandom that I don’t think people really comprehend. How deep it really goes. Lynn: No, I think if you weren’t in the middle of it, you wouldn’t know. But I was thinking about why the chapter you wrote resonates so much with people. And I think partly it’s because it really was a life and death situation. But I think it also resonates so much because of the way you wrote it, you wrote it with a tremendous amount of vulnerability, as did many of the actors who wrote chapters. I was honestly blown away when I started reading the chapters that were submitted – fans and actors just went there. So raw, willing to be so vulnerable. And you do that in your music too. I’ve said this to you before, but you and the band and you personally, are sorta the heart and soul of the SPNfamily and especially the cons. And in part, it’s because of that stroke and the fact that people feel like they almost lost you. And now that people can read your story in your own words in the book, that’s even more powerful. Rob: Mm hmm. [Rob and ¾ of Louden Swain played at the book release party for Family Don’t End With Blood, which was the literal combination of the music and the book coming together – talk about an emotional performance!] Lynn: The other part is the vulnerability that you put into your music, both the writing of it and the live performance. Something like She Waits, the way you wrote it and the way you sing it and perform it, I’ve never experienced so much emotion at a live performance. So what is that like for you, seeing the fan support so viscerally, those thousands of lit up candles in the ballroom as you’re singing? Rob: It really is amazing. I’ve always put everything into my music, I’ve looked at it as an outlet, a place where it’s okay to scream and yell, a place where its okay to be sad, it’s okay to put all your frustration into that. Rather than rebelling in life or hurting yourself, that’s my outlet. And it’s been incredibly healing for me really, even though singing some of those songs can be really painful. Ultimately, I do feel cleansed afterward. And these last 5 years, to sing these songs and have people sing them back, to have people react to them with signs and candles and support, it’s taken this to a whole other amazing level. It’s like, I’m not alone, I’m not alone in my catharsis. You know, I almost felt weird about it, it almost felt selfish before, because here I am pouring my heart out or whatever onstage, and now it’s not about just me anymore, it’s about all of us. Lynn: It is. It really is. Rob: And I do think the stroke does play into it because we have this kind of shared experience. The fact that the stroke happened at a con, and I feel like the fandom really helped me get better, so now we really have this shared catharsis, and it’s just such a welcoming place, such a safe place, there’s really nothing else like it that I’ve ever experienced. Lynn: No, it’s unique, and as I thought about what I wanted to ask you today, the more I thought that the book and the music, they really do the same thing. Both of them are a catharsis. Rob: Yeah, they are. Lynn: And I know not just you, but all the actors who wrote a chapter struggled with this, like should I really put this out here? Am I really just navel-gazing, like do people really want to know this personal stuff? But the only way people feel validated in their own struggles is by hearing somebody else’s. Both the music and the book do that. Rob: Yeah, that’s what it is. And you know, there’s some actors who like to keep things personal, and I completely respect and understand that. Lynn: Totally Rob: I think, for me, it got to a point where I go, you know, there are some things that can almost be made better or healed if I’m quite honest about it. And then in doing that and talking about whatever it is — my father, the stroke, my depression — in talking about it I felt like it was helping other people, so that can’t be a bad thing. It’s sort of group therapy in a way. Lynn: Yes. Yes! Rob: And I got strength in that, I thought that’s okay. I used to shy away from saying what songs were about, you know like ten years ago, but now I realize that’s okay and especially with this group [the SPNFamily], it’s more than okay. Everyone really grabs a hold of it and it’s become part of the identity of what this group is. Lynn: Sometimes the Saturday Night Special really does feel like a big giant group therapy session Rob: Yeah it does. Lynn: It’s validating for us, for you, it’s validating for all of us. Rob: Yeah yeah, and the other actors too get to join in who don’t always get to do that, you know? Lynn: Yeah, it’s interesting. I don’t know how much of the book you’ve gotten to read because you’ve been super busy, but a bunch of the actors wrote about a) how terrifying it was to sing at the SNS and b) how cathartic it’s been for them to sing at the SNS. Ruth wrote about that, Kim wrote about that, Gil even wrote about that. And a lot of those actors are ones that are performing on the new live Saturday Night Special album. How did they feel about that? Was it validating to sing on an album that turned out to be so successful? Rob: I have read Ruth’s and Kim’s chapters in the book and talked to them quite a bit about that. And I think, yeah, certainly the process for them was I would send them the tracks before I put them on the album and say hey how do you feel about this? And they were kinda like biting their nails and going I think it’s ok, and I’m going, it’s amazing! It’s more than okay, it’s great! Lynn: Absolutely. Rob: So yeah, I think it felt vulnerable for them, but ultimately I think everybody is really proud of that album. Rich has been buying copies and handing them out to people as a way to explain what the Saturday Night Special is. Lynn: That’s a great idea! Rob: Yeah, it’s a great account of what that night is. Lynn: I think that’s just about the only way to really understand. And maybe they should read some of my con blog posts on Fangasm about the SNS along with it too. It would be a good combo. Rob: (laughing) Exactly, exactly. Lynn: How did you decide what you included on the album? There are just so many awesome performances to choose from. Rob: We started recording, we recorded like three different shows, and then there were some engineering issues we had to overcome. It’s a difficult thing to record a live show and make it sound like a studio album. Lynn: I can imagine. Rob: And then we loved the San Francisco show, but then we kept recording, so there are a couple other tracks like Fare Thee Well that were taken from other shows recorded later. And then we had so many tracks that we were like, let’s plan on doing a second album. As a way to go, well, we’re not eliminating anything. Lynn: Oh, brilliant! Rob: Because we want other people too, Jason Manns and now that Mark Pellegrino is singing sometimes, and a couple songs off our new album on there, so there’s already a second album in the works. Sort of a Volume 2. Lynn: Yay! I bet that made it a lot easier to pick. Because there are so many – I don’t even understand why, but for some ridiculous reason the casting people for this show keep casting people who a) are not jerks, and b) are not only great actors but very musically talented people, it’s really kinda weird. Rob: (laughing) I know, it really is bizarre, and more people end up singing. Like Mark Pellegrino, it took him a long time to come out of his shell and sing but he has this amazing voice. And Kim Rhodes, it took her a long time to sort of take the bait and then we were all blown away, and she’s been flawless every time. Lynn: She has, and it’s not even like you’re like oh well the band will make up for what it needs to. Instead, these people are taking the stage and being rock stars! Rob: Holding their own, yeah. Again, it’s the magic of this whole group. Lynn: Even Jensen – I was talking to him a few weeks ago about singing, and I remember that in the beginning when he first sang in a few little duo concerts with Jason or with Steve Carlson, and he kept saying I’m not a musician, I will never put out my own album. But he’s sorta wavering on that now, because he’s enjoyed it so much. Rob: Yeah, he has. Lynn: And he’s also gotten to be such a rockstar Rob: (laughing) I know, he really really has. He’s amazing, that guy. He can do it all. Lynn: (laughing) I know, it’s disgusting. I swear there’s nothing he can’t do. I don’t know if you ever sit around and think about how much of this is due to you and to Louden Swain, but I was listening to that live album and marveling – all of the songs are completely different. You let people do songs that are the right fit for them. Rob: Right. Lynn: But then Louden Swain somehow just morphs into perfectly doing whatever kind of song that person is doing! I don’t even know how you do that… Rob: Well, I think we’ve found something out about ourselves as a band doing this. I don’t think we ever thought that we’d cover an Eminem song or something like that, but it’s one of our favorite songs to play. Every time Osric sings with us, we’re like can we do Eminem? We really love it and it’s fun for us too. I think we’ve sort of surprised ourselves as a band. And I think doing that makes you a better band. So we’ve grown through this whole experience as well and found out something about ourselves. It’s been super exciting. Lynn: You did a bunch of live shows that were not con shows last summer, and I was lucky enough to catch one in NYC, and it was amazing. What is the difference between doing those kind of shows – I know you have more planned for the winter – and a con show? Rob: Well, the main difference is with the Saturday Night Special concert, between every song you’re going ‘okay, who are we now?’ You’re changing instruments and kinda resetting for a different performer. So it’s a bigger dance, there’s choreography. We’ve got this set list printed out and this other list of what guitar we play or whatever and I’m hopping over to bass sometimes or Mike’s hopping over to keyboards. It’s more of an orchestration, whereas just playing a straight show is just kinda going back to what we knew. A little easier but at the same time it’s a little more because it’s all you, you’re not ever giving the mic off to someone else, it’s all you. Lynn: Mm hmm. Rob: So they both have their advantages, they’re very different. And certainly there are a lot of fans who are Louden Swain fans, and they like when they can hear all the Louden Swain songs, so I always enjoy being able to play certain tracks that we don’t get to play on the SNS shows just because we don’t have time, so there’s always that element that I do enjoy. Lynn: I really loved the show I saw. Back in the day, when the Louden Swain concert was just a Louden Swain concert at the cons…. Rob: (laughing) Lynn: But now it’s different, so it was really cool to hear you play in a club environment, and for it to be full of really passionate Swainers. I then spent the next ten minutes trying to convince Rob to come play in Philly when they do their east coast tour in January. Jason has played here, and it’s an awesome music town. Who’s with me?? I promised to send Rob some venue suggestions, which it occurs to me I still haven’t done. I’ll get on that! Then, of course, I had to mention Supernatural. Lynn: So with lots of talk of God on Supernatural recently, there’s talk about Chuck returning. And, of course, you couldn’t tell me even if you knew, but are you sort of hoping to be back at some point? It seems inevitable to me. Rob: I’m always hoping to be back on Supernatural. I know it’s not always easy for the writers to work in God… Lynn: lol Rob: But I have heard that they’re talking a lot about God this season so… you know, if I am coming back, it does seem like a good fit to come back this season. I don’t know anything yet but certainly just being part of the family, it’s always something that I wanna do. It’s always a dream to go work with those people and especially now with Jensen and Jared being some of my best friends, so to go up and work with them is always a dream. [caption id="attachment_50896" align="aligncenter" width="540"] Source: Twitter[/caption] Lynn: I was so glad that one of the recent times I was up on set you were there – we were on set for the very first episode you did for Supernatural many years ago, so it was just so cool to be back there when you were on again in Season 11. Rob: Yeah, that was so fun to see you there too! That was when it was still kind of a secret I think. Lynn: (laughing) Yeah I kept it, I’m good at that. Confidentiality, etc. Lynn: So any news on Kings of Con Season 2? There have been a lot of fan initiatives trying to get Netflix or amazon or somebody to pick it up. Rob: Yeah, it’s funny, I just pulled up to my office where Rich and I are working on our presentation for Season 2. Comic Con HQ isn’t doing any more scripted shows, so we’re gonna go into business with Lions Gate, our studio, and we’ll pitch it to networks like Netflix, Hulu, that sort of thing. So fan support goes a long way, and that goes into our pitch presentation. Sorta like, this is the show, these are our fans, let’s do it! Lynn: I’d think that would be compelling, that there’s already so much support. Rob: Yeah, hopefully that will help a lot. We’ve got a great pitch and a great presentation, and I’m confident it will end up somewhere, it’s just a matter of where. Lynn: You’ve done some other acting projects recently too. Honestly, I don’t know how you’re still standing! You’ve got acting projects, your own and other people’s, conventions, concerts, world travel… Rob: (laughing) Lynn: Aren’t you tired? Rob: I know, this has been a very busy year, and I am tired. But you know, people ask has your life changed since you had the stroke and I always say no, it really hasn’t because I still feel like I’m the same person I always was, my personality hasn’t changed. But I look at my life now and how busy it’s been the last few years and I think maybe I am, you know, kinda trying to get everything in because life is so precious. Acting is still my first love so any time a good acting opportunity comes up, that’s what I like to do. So I just did this movie called Thirty Miles from Nowhere. It’s kinda a horror film and it was really great, I don’t normally do that kinda film. This actress Carrie Preston who won an Emmy for The Good Wife, she’s just an amazing actress, she’s in it with me, and we had a great time. It’s more of a thriller than a horror film. We shot that in Chicago, and they’re editing it right now Lynn: I can’t wait to see that! Rob: Yeah it was fun. Lynn: It will be interesting to see you do something so different, because the other one you did, the short with Justine Bateman, that was a comedy. Rob: Yeah, Five Minutes, that was at the Toronto film fest. It was a comedy, and it was fun to play that guy too, a little different from the kind of part I usually play. Lynn: Anything else we haven’t covered? Rob: No I feel like that covers everything. Just, I feel like we’re looking forward to pitching Kings of Con, we’re working every day to get this thing back on the air and it’s really looking good. Lynn: Awesome. We will keep on it, won’t we, fandom? Tell Rich I said hi. Rob: Okay Lynn, nice to talk to you. It really was my pleasure though. If you haven’t already, check out the powerful and personal chapter that Rob wrote in Family Don’t End With Blood. It captures what the SPNFamily really is all about. Many of his fellow Supernatural cast members wrote personal chapters too. And if you don’t already own the Saturday Night Special live cd, my niece and I heartily recommend it! You can get it here. Here’s to Season 2 of Kings of Con! Check Out Our 2017 Holiday Gift Guides (including a special Supernatural one!): [abcf-grid-gallery-custom-links id="50643"]

My review of the decade is kicking off my first blog of 2020, still debating if I should do a review of 2019 it’s self. Anyway, where to start is a bit of a problem but I have to write this and it’s supposed to be long but I will make it short since a few of my readers complain about the length of my write-ups.
I am going to do more of outlining those special events that happened this ending decade and will surely impact the starting decade. Will start with 2013 when Benedict XVI shocked the world in February when he became the first pope to resign in almost 600 years Which makes us a special generation to have been a life when that historical event happened. After the guys did the surprise announcement all the attention shifted so fast to the succession, and the election of the new Pope, Francis. In the next decade one question will maybe fully be answered, “why did Benedict quit?”
Tumblr media
Before going to the rest of the world, my Uganda should come first, the decade has been doted by a raise of violence in the pearl of Africa some that were a result of political events since we hard two elections in there that were more of scripted unless in the last on the biggest opposition figure took the oath of office for presidency on his own inspiring Kenya an the likes of Venezuela where it seemed to have worked that side in the initial stages making Dr. Besigye more of a world experiment since his work to work events were more of a blueprint for the Arab spring. It’s laughable but sad, the cries of human rights violations with the talks of safe houses and torture as a mode of investigation, murders and assassinations have been trend of the decade which started with religious clerics then a judge and later there was an Amy office, a member of Parliament and two high ranking police officers all done in a MOSSAD style.
Let me speed through the bad ones but are their goods the oil production has still not yet started, middle-income delusion has not materialized. There are memorable ones, like Uganda making 50 years of independence, and hosting the biggest number of refugees in the world because of the instabilities that are around us, we have our brothers coming from South Sudan, Burundi, DRC and many from the Horn of Africa putting our hospitality to a whole new level that other countries are coming into a benchmark on our methods only that along the way the UN found out that the numbers were being exaggerated for some reason that would need there own blog.
In this ending decade, there a few sporting achievements that really united the county but the government seemed to learn nothing from the results of the events. In the 2012 London Olympics Uganda managed to get a Gold medal taking the country by storm since it was like 4 decades since it last happened, I was not there am not sure if it’s even true. Then again after about 3 decades the Uganda Cranes the National Football team qualified for the African Cup of Nations which to me is still a dream I have to wake up from. World Cup is not a statement related to Uganda but the She Cranes has been able to go for two world events in the last ten years. Those sports moments made Ugandans feel like one. The other event that made Uganda feel like it was not in a milky way was a political event, the second of the two presidential candidates debates before an election.
Tumblr media
Moving to other things away from Uganda that will always be remembered about the decade which started with South Africa host the 2010 FIFA world cup on the continent for the first time. The aftermath of the seven resulted in the change of leadership at the Football organization because of serious crimes in how money was moving around.
Tumblr media
The United States of America has a Russian agent as President am joking but the truth is that Donald Trump is the head of the Free world crazy just like the predicted end of the world in December 2012 but when you take a close look we are not far from a Mad max situation going to the next decade.
This decade has seen the most advancement in tech, can you believe it that before this ending decade there was no iPad first came out this decade, and many other companies joined the Apple revolution. When it first comes out, it was quite a special tech item but now we are using them to play Fruit Ninja. Companies like SpaceX, Boeing shaped a lot of the technology of the decade. Then come to the raid hailing apps for transport that in Uganda we even use them for boda bodas. Hybrid and fully electronic cars are no longer things for the future.
Tumblr media
But with all the technological achievements it’s this decade when our phones track our every activity and location that a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet disappeared without a trace in early 2014, the fate of the plane and the 239 passengers and crew on board has become one of the biggest aviation mysteries. The missing plane captured the attention of millions around the world, triggering a multinational search and plenty of conspiracy theories. In the middle of last year, The Atlantic gave us a report of what could have happened the plane was likely intentionally crashed by the pilot which I don’t want to believe.
Tumblr media
This decade has also been a roller coaster in the entertainment industry and for me my mark was boyhood but there was a whole range of movies, TV shows and music albums that will surely be classics. From 2012 to 2013 was truly the time of viral videos and Ylvis’ “The Fox” was truly the strangest one to ever become an internet hit. Then the Oscars Twelve years of Slaves was special for Africa because Lupita, the movement of Oscars are so white which I don’t feel was justified followed by Oscars are so male, I can’t imagine a woman or black person playing Hitler just saying. Leonardo finally got a win at the 88th Academy Awards in 2016 when he awarded Best Actor for his role in The Revenant, and I still believe he put upper a better show in The Wolf at Wall Street but the academy decided to give him an award for a role he barely sides anything all movie. This decade saw the end of Harry Potter and the Massive Game of Thrones a TV show that really had an impact on television history.
In the last decade, there has been some very nice Music coming from the likes of Adele, Ed screen, Beyonce, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, Common and John Legend, Cold Play to the Renegades but the song of the decade fell from nowhere pictures a man doing horse-riding-like dance in July 2012 all the way from South Korea called Psy released a new song called Gangnam Style and it’s the only song on YouTube with a billion views.
Tumblr media
It was that decade when The Harlem Shake happened in 2013, thousands of bizarre 30second versions of the “Harlem Shake” a dance set to the electronic song by DJ Baauer were being uploaded on the daily, from sports clubs to military men, to government officials.
Tumblr media
What am I living out, sports a lot happened, from that World Cup in South Africa to Japan beating up South Africa in a rugby world cup tipping tables in the sport to the Golden State Warriors taking the NBA by storm but for me, my moment was Leicester City winning the English Premier League. It has become a turn of some sort we a now calling surprises “A Leicester City”.
Tumblr media
About 19 million tweets kicked of the Me Too campaign leading to widespread awareness and discussion of the topic of sexual assault against women and have since then become a historic feminist movement, it’s another thing we can partly credit to the internet and technology.
Tumblr media
It was that decade when the rainbow was everywhere in the world every single day after Same-sex marriage became legal in the U.S.A on June 26, 2015, it opened another door for LGBTQ+ Community in the whole world. So that past decade we were lucky to witness two royal weddings the one in 2011 and the last one in 2018 that seemed to be more special because many things about it rewrote human history.
Tumblr media
In that last decade Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, Moammar Gadhafi of Libya, Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen and Zine El Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia all went out of office in the same year in what came to be known as the Arab spring. Later down the decade, Omar Bashir of Sudan was overthrown a prior to him Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe also left office.
I will end with war in Syria, it’s a Civil war against the government of Assad, it’s a proxy war between Russia and America, it’s a religious war with between the Sunni and Shia Muslims who are backing a president from the Alwhyt side of Islam and its an international war against the self-proclaimed Caliphate called ISIS that has seen almost every nation on the planet get involved. Since 2011 the end is not yet in sight producing the greatest numbers of refugees since the Second world war making it the climax of the third world war generation. War is war.
The greatest thing of the decade is the awareness concerning climate change even if it has come at a very high cost at least for now everyone on the planet knows what we have got ourselves into going to the next 10 years.
Tumblr media
I will end with a light one but it still fascinates me to this date. Never before has the world been so divided over something so simple as the color of a dress but that’s exactly what happened back in February 2015 when a picture of a dress originally posted on Tumblr suddenly went viral overnight. To me “The dress is gold and white”
That Decade My review of the decade is kicking off my first blog of 2020, still debating if I should do a review of 2019 it’s self.

Just You
Tumblr media
(gif just because he’s cute)
Fandom: Supernatural Pairing: Rob Benedict x reader Warnings: Rob isn’t married in this. Jason Manns is reader’s BFF. Slight angst, fluff. Type: One-shot Word Count: 3,378 A/N: This is my fic for @iwantthedean'sTwo-Prompt One-Shot Challenge! I would have had this written sooner but I knew that seeing Rob at the Station Breaks concert in Georgia would give me an idea, and it did. Also, work got in the way, which is why this is a little late. (In-concert dialogue edited to fit the tone.) My prompt is in bold. Enjoy!
You hadn’t told Rob you’d be at the show tonight. It was supposed to be a surprise for the whole band, but a week before the concert Jason had stumbled across the plane ticket you had left sitting on top of your dresser. You grin at the memory. You had nearly choked on toothpaste when he came into the bathroom, eyebrows raised in an incredulous expression. “This is real, right?” he’d asked. You had rolled your eyes, rinsing your mouth before answering, “No, dummy, it’s a Monopoly plane ticket. Yes, it’s real. Surprise.” There are no secrets between you two. Even when you try to keep something from one another, it’s nearly impossible to hide it for long. You’ve been best friends with Jason for what felt like your entire life, even though the two of you met when you were in sixth grade and he was in eleventh. The school you attended went from sixth grade up through twelfth, and it was a group of heckling seniors that Jason protected you from. Regardless of the five years between you two, he quickly became a brother-figure and a best friend. When he discovered that you’d be flying from California to Georgia just to see the show, you made him promise not to tell Rob. He agreed, but of course the rest of the band knew within the hour. So as you take your seat at the top of the wooden stadium seats in the back of the small room of Eddie’s Attic, you know that the texts coming through to your phone are from four of the five members of the Station Breaks. Sure enough, you have five unread messages. One each from Billy, Cooper, and Kiel (who is filling in for Humphreys), and two from Jason. The first three express similar sentiments hoping you enjoy the show. The two from Jason make your heart beat a little faster.
7:39pm I’ll be looking for you out there. Really glad you came to see us play 7:41pm Can’t wait to see Rob’s face when he finds out you’re here You shake your head, sending quick replies to the four of them before locking your phone. There’s still some time before the show is set to begin, leaving you with your thoughts. You think back to a few years ago when Jason had introduced you to what has become like his second family: Jared, Jensen, Misha, both Marks, Matt, Rich, Rob, and the rest of the Supernatural Family. You had been blown away by how attractive Jared and Jensen were, but it was Rob who you kept coming back to talk to. You couldn’t help it. From the moment you met him, he’s had a comforting aura to him, much like your best friend, and the way he looked at you with those bright blue eyes of his made you feel some kind of way. Jason knew before you did that you had a crush on Rob. You denied it for months, but after Jason invited you to a convention just last year, you couldn’t hide from the truth any longer. If Jason is the first person you reach out to when something happens in your life, Rob is a close second. In the few years that you’ve known him, he’s been nothing but kind to you. Always willing to listen, always supportive, always ready to offer help. You could sit and talk for hours with him and still find new things to say. It doesn’t hurt that he’s easily as attractive as J2. That patch of silver in his beard and the laughter-lines around his eyes never fail to make your heart stutter. Your phone vibrating jolts you out of your thoughts of Rob. Glancing down at the screen, you fight back a smile. It’s from Jason. 7:57pm Are you sure I can’t tell Rob you’re here? The man won’t shut up about you Your thumbs dance over the keyboard as you contemplate what to say back. No you can’t tell him, is what you type out. Deciding to ignore the second half of the text, you hit send. 7:59pm Fine, fine. Spoilsport Rolling your eyes, you again lock your phone. Jason has never outright said that you aren’t the only one with feelings, but he’s hinted at it a handful of times over the years. Every time he brings it up, you laugh and say, “Yeah, just like Tommy had a crush on me in the seventh grade.” He never says anything after that, but he’s never dropped the subject completely. You catch yourself wondering, not for the first time, whether your best friend is telling the truth this time. Even if he is, part of you is convinced he must have misunderstood whatever it is that Rob tells him. You’re nearly fifteen years younger than Rob, and even in today’s world such an age difference would be frowned upon, especially since Rob is something of a celebrity and you’re just another person working towards an impossible goal of breaking into the screenwriting industry. Truth be told, you’re more worried about the fandom than the media. While most fans are the good kind, you’ve heard stories about certain fans who give the rest a bad rep. Pulling yourself away from that train of thought, you shake your head and look around the room. There are at least twenty people here wearing Rock God shirts. That makes you smile. It’s always nice to see the support the actors are given. After another few minutes of waiting, Jason’s friend Hayden Lee is introduced shortly after 8 o’clock. He carries his guitar to the stage, and you cheer with everyone else. You’ve known Hayden for many years now, and you’ve been to countless jam sessions between him and Jason. You know all of Hayden’s songs by heart, so you find yourself quietly singing along to each of them. He ends with your favorite song of his, “Revolution,” and when it ends you whoop louder than the rest, proud of your friend. He’s come a long way, and hopefully he’ll go even further. He thanks the crowd one last time before adjusting the mic stand down a good half foot. Laughter ripples through the room; Rob’s height is a known source of humor in the fandom, as you’ve come to learn. To you, everyone is tall, so you never really understand why Rob always jokes about his stature until he’s next to guys like J2. You shoot a quick “good luck” text to the band, excluding Rob, and then it’s only a few minutes later that they are being led through to the front of the room. Your eyes follow each of the men – Kyle’s charming looks, Cooper’s lanky frame, Billy’s combed=back hair, Jason’s curls – before settling on Rob. Your stomach flips at the sight of him: a dark button-up shirt, skinny jeans, and a brown hat. It’s something he would wear to lunch with friends. Casual, and 100% Rob. A smile tugs at the corner of your mouth. They waste no time launching into their first song, “Slightest Thing,” and you tear your gaze away from Rob to watch Jason. As if he can feel your eyes on him, he looks around the room before he catches sight of you in the back. With a quick smile, he returns his attention to the song. You look back to Rob. As much as you’ve always enjoyed watching Jason sing, Rob is on a whole other level. Watching him is damn near hypnotizing. You quickly get lost in the lines of his forearms as he strums his guitar, the way he jumps with excitement, the honest and heartfelt “thank you” after every song. You’ve never felt overwhelmed by him before, but tonight is different. Electricity courses through you, skittering to the rhythm of the music and spiking with each perfect blend of Jason and Rob’s harmonies. Goosebumps dot your skin. The energy fades only when they pause between songs to tell stories. You’ve lost track of how many songs they’ve played, but you somehow know as soon as Jason starts talking, the next one will be their last of the night. “This next song has a particular significance for Rob and I,” Jason says. He catches your eye for a brief moment before turning back to Rob, continuing with a mischievous grin. “And, uh, Rob’s gonna tell you what that is.” Rob throws his head back, laughing with the crowd. “Well, it- it means a lot to us because it really was the- it was the birth of the Station Breaks some five, six years ago in Rome.” He looks to Jason for confirmation and the taller man nods. “We played a gig and, uh, he was like, ‘Hey, hey, Robbie, you wanna come play with me?’ And I said, um, ‘I’d love that.’ So he was like, ‘How do you feel about Hallelujah?’” The crowd screams its approval. You shift in your seat, feeling the change in the atmosphere. Everyone loves the song, but you know it’s going to be a tear-jerker for most of the people in the room, yourself included. Billy plucks the opening notes, and Jason takes the first verse. Before long the electricity returns as Rob’s voice washes over you in the second verse. Already there is a familiar tightness in your throat as your eyes prickle. It doesn’t matter how many times you listen to this song on the album or watch the boys play it in hotel rooms, it always gets to you. Rob puts so much emotion into it every time. It never ceases to amaze you how open he is with everything he does. How selfless he is. How compassionate. How unapologetic of being himself. It hits you, as Rob croons out his ending “hallelujah,” that you’re in love with him. There are no bells, no fireworks, no singing cherubs. Instead, the realization crashes into you like a two-ton weight, knocking the breath out of you. If you weren’t already sitting, your knees would have given out. You’re in love with Rob Benedict. How could you have been so blind to not have seen it before? It only takes another moment for the doubts to come flooding in: You’re too young for him. He doesn’t see you that way. You’ve been reading too much into him for way too long. With an effort you clamp down on those thoughts. Without knowing why, you decide, for the first time, to trust Jason on this. Maybe he’s right. Maybe Rob does have feelings for you. There’s only one way to find out.
As soon as the band is off-stage and back in their dressing room, you type a frantic text to Jason, asking if he could let you in with them. He answers with a simple “yes,” and a minute later you see his familiar curls and broad shoulders peeking out from the door in the back right corner of the room. Weaving through the crowd, you almost make it to Jason when one of the employees stops you.
“I’m with him,” you say, gesturing to Jason. The woman looks at you with one eyebrow raised before turning to look at him. “She’s with me,” he echoes. The woman lets you pass, and as soon as the door is closed behind you, Jason picks you up in a rib-crushing hug. “Jace,” you groan. “Can’t breathe.” He chuckles and sets you down. “Come on. Let’s go surprise Robbie.” You walk with him through the short hallway to another door, which he opens just enough to peer outside. You can hear people talking, Hayden’s voice among them, so it must be the merch room. He did promise hugs to anyone who bought a CD. Jason motions for you to follow before dashing to a nearby third door. The two of you make inside without being noticed. Jason shuts the door as you take stock of your surroundings. The room is just big enough for the boys and some spare guitars. Billy lounges with a leg over the arm of a crimson plush armchair next to the door. Cooper and Kiel recline on a sofa of the same hue against the wall. Rob has his back to you, occupied with something at the table under the window. Billy winks at you  before saying, “Jason’s back.” “Oh good, we were just-“ Rob’s voice cuts off as he turns around. You half expect the two glasses of amber liquid in his hands to plummet to the floor, but instead he just stares at you with wide eyes. You give him a little wave. Warmth begins to bloom in your cheeks. “Y/N?” “Hey, Rob,” you say. Your voice sounds breathless, even to your own ears. He rushes across the small space to wrap you in a hug, and you squeeze him just as tight. When he steps back, a wide smile is affixed to his face, the light in his blue eyes dancing. His hand slides down your arm to hold your own. “What are you- when did you- how-” He shakes his head, laughing. “It’s so great to see you! I didn’t know you’d be coming.” “That was the point.” You smile. The warmth in your face has become a burn. “The show was awesome. You guys keep getting better.” You look around the room to include Billy, Cooper, Kiel, and Jason in your statement. They each accept it with a quiet “thank you.” You turn back to Rob. There is a beat of silence where you swear it’s just the two of you in the room. You can’t see anything but the sparkling blue of his eyes, can’t feel anything but his hand in yours, and your heart threatens to beat right out of your ribcage. Three words hang on the tip of your tongue, ready to be blurted out, but Jason clears his throat. The moment passes. “Guys, why don’t we go meet some of our fans out there?” Jason suggests. Billy is the first to jump up. “Sure. Come on, Kyle, Coop.” The men file out, stepping around you and Rob. You break eye contact with Rob to look back over your shoulder at Jason. “Thank you, Jace,” you say with a smile.” He ruffles his hair like he did back when you were still in middle school. “Anytime, Y/N/N.” “I’ll be out in a minute,” Rob says. Your heart drops; maybe that little moment was just in your head. Maybe you won’t get the chance to find out what he really feels about you. But Jason shakes his head. “Take your time, Rob. I mean it.” The door closes with a click before Rob can reply. You turn back to face him, your eyes downcast. You study the way your hand and Rob’s fit together. “Hey.” His voice is quiet. When you don’t respond, he repeats it again, a little louder. “Hey. Look at me. The silence is making me nervous.” You oblige. With a half smile, you say, “Sorry. Just thinking, is all.” “Thinking what?” “That it’s good to see you, Robbie.” He rubs the back of his neck with his free hand. “I still- I can’t believe you flew all the way here just to see us.” You shrug. “I wanted to see the five of you play. I… I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever.” “We just saw each other last month.” The words don’t sound harsh coming from Rob’s lips, but you suddenly feel childish for missing him. You step back, pulling your hand away to cross your arms over your chest. “I know that, but…” Turning away from him, you try to sort through the whirlwind of emotions rushing through you. The last few minutes have been a rollercoaster, from happiness at seeing him again to that inexplicable urge to confess in front of the others to this sudden onset of doubt. You’re not quite sure what you should be feeling or what you should be saying. “But?” Rob prompts. “But,” you repeat, letting out a pent-up breath, “I missed you.” “I missed you, too, Y/N.” His confusion is evident in his voice, but you don’t have the words to make him understand. You try anyway. “I’m not… I don’t know a good way to say this.” You weigh each word before speaking it. “Do you remember when we first met, what you were wearing?” He’s quiet for a moment. “No. But I remember what you were wearing.” “You had on jeans and that black Smoke Pit t-shirt. I was wearing a Manns Beard tank top, wasn’t I?” “Yeah, yeah you were. Your hair was in a bun that day.” You turn to face him again. “What’s my favorite color?” “f/c.” “Why?” “Because it reminds you of the first bike you had growing up.” You nod. “That’s why I miss you, every time we’re apart.” Rob tilts his head to the side. You can almost see the wheels turning in that beautiful mind of his, and you let him have a moment to work through his confusion. “I’m sorry, I don’t- what does your childhood bike have to do with you missing me?” You chew on the inside of your cheek before answering. “It has everything to do with it. I’ve never felt at a loss for words, but you seem to just get me. You make- I don’t know. You’re just you! And I can’t think when you’re around me.” “Wait, what- what are you saying?” Your heart jumps to your throat and proceeds to jackhammer there. You swallow around it. “I’m saying that I love you, Rob. I love you, and I’m praying to God that you feel the same way, because if you don’t-” He pulls you to him, cutting you off with a kiss. His lips are soft against yours, and his beard rubs against your face as you kiss him back, wrapping your arms around his neck. One of his hands cups your face. The other slots into the small of your back to press you closer to him. He pushes you back until your legs hit the edge of the sofa. Pulling him down with you, you knock the hat off his head to thread your fingers into his brown curls. You hook your legs up around his hips to keep him close to you. All you can feel is Rob: lips, hands, body, warmth. Heat scorches through you. Kissing him is better than anything your imagination could come up with, and desire is already clouding your mind. Only when his tongue swipes your bottom lip do you pull back to look at him. Your chests rise and fall at the same rapid pace. He smiles down at you, thumb tracing your cheekbone. “I never thought Jason was telling the truth about you. Guess I was wrong, huh?” “Me neither,” you admit. “Maybe we should listen to him more often.” He doesn’t answer, opting instead to kiss you again, mouth moving against yours with such fervor that your mind goes blank. When he breaks the kiss, it takes you a moment to regain your wits. “You should go out there. They’re probably all wondering why you’re not with the others.” “Come with me,” he says, a soft smile bringing out the laughter lines around his eyes. You smile without realizing it, but you shake your head. “What will they think?” “Who, the fans?” Without giving you time to respond, he continues, “I don’t think- it shouldn’t matter what they think. Is this-” he presses a chaste kiss to your lips “- what you want?” You can only nod. “Do you want them to know about it?” “No. Do you?” “I just got you. I’m not ready to share you yet.” Your heart melts at that. “Then let’s go.” He pulls you to your feet. Grabbing his hat from the floor, you resettle it on his head and straighten it before he takes your hand again, fingers lacing with yours, to lead you forward. “Oh, Y/N?” he says before opening the door. You give him a questioning look. “I love you, too.”

Cautionary Fairytale: Part 3
Rob Benedict x Reader Miniseries
Series Summary: Rob and Reader have slowly been unraveling. He’s ignoring the truth though, pretending that nothing is wrong. Will he wake up and realize that he needs to fix things? Or is this one story that doesn’t have a happy ending?
Warnings: angst, swearing
Chapter Word Count: 2402
Notes: Based on my favorite song from the Dick Jr. and The Volunteers album (that Rob wrote).
This chapter feels sort of choppy, but at least I’m writing!

You could swear that you saw just a hint of relief on Rob’s face when you greeted him as he walked through the door after the convention.
The last thing you wanted to do was upset him. In fact, you avoided it at all costs if you could. Which was why you made sure that you were at home waiting for him when he returned. Perhaps leaving to visit family without telling him while he was away hadn’t been the best idea. He had been so upset when he called you, confused as to why you weren’t home, and even more confused as to why you hadn’t even mentioned your little trip to him.
At the time, it really had been a last minute decision on your part. It wasn’t like you planned on upsetting him. Mainly, a lot was going through your mind and the only thing you could think of to deal with that was to just run away for a bit. There was a lot to unpack here. A lot had been building up. You briefly considered the fact that it had actually felt kind of nice to upset him the way that you had, but your joy in having him upset for a change had been short lived as you dwelled on how worried he sounded during that phone call while you were away. But, right now, you were actually really happy to see him.
You always missed him like crazy when he was away. You didn’t think anything could even change the feeling you got when you saw that face after days or weeks of being alone.
So, before Rob could bring up your little disappearing act again, you dropped what you were doing and greeted him the way you always did.
He started to say something, but you hastily cut him off with a kiss; wrapping your arms around his shoulders as you pressed your body against him, the kiss deep and wanting. You made the effort that you always did. You wanted to remind him that you loved him.
His tenseness washed away quickly as you felt him ease up in your embrace, and before you knew it, he was kissing you back and holding you with the same intensity that he usually had.
You knew. You knew what was coming. He was worried and you had behaved in a way that you never had before. Every phone call or text following that night hinted right in that direction. Even now, as the two of you were here together and you were trying your hardest to play the happy girlfriend role, you could see it in his eyes. He wasn’t convinced.
The last time you had seen this much uncertainty and uneasiness in him was when he asked you to move in with him. It had been a big step for both of you. He had been unsure if he was willing to allow someone into his life that much and, even back then, you were unsure if you wanted to get in too deep with someone like him. You had learned in the beginning what being with Rob was going to be like. It had taken a lot of time on your part to decide if you were willing to be second in his life.
In the end, your love for him won. You had to learn to get along without him most of the time; to be willing to wait for him and possibly not even see him for weeks at a time. Back then, it had been worth it. It was still worth it in a way.
Once the hello’s were done, you went back to tidying up the living room, which you had been in the middle of doing when he walked in. Even though you were a bit busy, Rob took it as an opportunity to bring up the thing that you were hoping he would just drop.
“How was your trip?” He asked.
“It was really good. Thanks for asking.”
“Do you do this type of thing often?” He asked.
Regardless of the effort you had put in to avoiding the entire thing, he still wasn’t letting it go. For some reason, that bothered you. It wasn’t like you grilled him about where he was all the time and what he was doing when he was away. God forbid you take some time for yourself for a few days. Still, you tried to stay calm even though the mood in you had shifted.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
“I mean… go away without me even knowing about it?”
“No,” you answered. “I don’t. Usually I just hang around here, waiting for you.”
Even you heard the bitterness in your voice as you said it. Rob looked at you with those pained eyes and you quickly avoided his gaze, realizing how mean you sounded right now. Regardless of whether something was his fault or not, you really didn’t like to see him upset.
“I just, you know- needed to get away for awhile …” you continued. “To clear my head.”
“Clear it of what?”
“Since when do you ask so many questions?” You laughed.
The laugh wasn’t so much amusement, but rather annoyance that he was being so pushy about this.
“Since I found out that my girlfriend apparently goes away for days at a time and doesn’t even mention it to me.”
“I didn’t realize we have to relay every single thing to each other. I mean, you don’t give me details on your every move every day and I don’t expect you to.”
“Y/N, I’m joking. It’s not that serious. I just- was surprised is all.”
“Well, I do have a life outside of you and waiting for you to come home.”
Again, your words were bitter. You couldn’t even try to hide how hurt you were anymore. He still looked at you as if he were a puppy that had just been kicked and you hated that he had this way of making you feel bad for things that clearly weren’t your fault.
“I know you do-“
“What do you want from me?” You sighed in frustration. “Are you really that upset that I went to see my family without asking you?”
“No. I’m not upset at all. I just thought it was something you would tell me about.”
“I’m sorry I didn’t think to tell you. I will next time.”
“Next time?”
You glanced up at him, taking note of the worry evident in his eyes.
“I didn’t- I didn’t mean it like that,” you said softly, now trying to calm yourself when you realized how upset he was by the whole thing. “Just- IF I decide to go visit my family or whatever, I’ll tell you before. It wasn’t fair of me to just leave without saying anything. I’m sorry.”
Rob bit his lip, still watching you, now looking as if he had more to say but was definitely stopping himself. You hoped he would. The argument was tired, and even though you might have done it all to purposely hurt him, you were over it now. You didn’t want him to worry.
“Let’s just go to bed,” you said, knowing that you could easily get him to drop the whole thing.
“It’s still pretty early…” he replied in confusion.
“I didn’t say we were going to sleep,” you teased as you approached him.
“Oh?” He asked, acting surprised, but giving you that cute grin as he raised a brow at you in interest.
“I haven’t seen you in so long, and I missed you,” you continued. “I just want to be with you. I’ll feel better when I’m with you. I promise.”
You grinned devilishly at him, trying your hardest to change the mood, wrapping your arms around him to pull him close as you began to place soft kisses against his neck. He eased up in your embrace, sighing as you took your time touching and tasting him. He reached up to cup your face in his hands, pulling your face close to his so that he could kiss you hard on the lips. You gasped audibly against his mouth, letting him know that it was okay to take it further.
The argument had been all but forgotten.
At least moments like this were always perfect, the way he wanted you so badly when he came home, the way he couldn’t keep his hands off of you when he finally saw you after days or even weeks away. It almost made up for a lot of things. Almost.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Afterwards, you hoped to just bask in the feeling of being with him again. You hoped that things would go back to normal; the two of you still being in love, and perhaps still pretending that nothing was wrong. It seemed as if Rob was still not willing to let things go though.
“You know, I had to spend a few nights alone in our bed,” he reminded you.
“Are you still trying to make me feel bad?”
“No. I just- it was weird is all. I think that was the first time I’ve ever slept in our bed alone.”
“Yeah, well, I do it all the time,” you replied, not hiding your annoyance with him.
“I know,” he said, turning his face up in confusion by your shortness with him. “And, I do the same thing all the time… usually it’s in a hotel room somewhere though.”
“That’s really tough. I’m sorry you have to go through that.”
“Y/N,” he said, turning to stop you.
He looked at you, sadness present in his eyes as he studied you. He put his hand on your face gently, making it so that you had to face him.
“What is going on with us?” He asked finally.
You thought about letting it all out right then. This was the first time he had even acknowledged that something was clearly wrong here. Your heart ached as you considered all of the things that you had wanted to say to him for so long, but could never bring yourself to actually say. However, these were the moments that you loved with him. These were the moments that you missed and craved when he was away. And these moments were so fleeting and uncommon when it came to the two of you, you never wanted to do or say anything to ruin them.
“Nothing,” you lied. “Nothing is going on with us. We’re the same. It’s always the same. I’m just tired and I’m sorry if I’m being bitchy.”
“You’re not,” he said. “You just- seem to be really upset with me.”
“I’m not upset.”
“I don’t know that I believe you.”
Taking that as your cue, you sat up and pulled yourself out of the bed.
“What did I say?” He asked. “What did I do wrong?”
“Will you stop?” You said as you rolled your eyes at him, trying to act playful about it. ”Everything is fine.”
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to get cleaned up,” you replied. “Let’s go out and have dinner. It’s been awhile.”
He only nodded at you, getting out of bed himself to join you.
For the rest of the night, it seemed Rob had taken the hint. You didn’t want to get too deep into whatever it was that was going on with you two, and perhaps he no longer wanted to acknowledge it either.
The two of you had a surprisingly nice dinner together. Lately, date nights had been far and few in between. Even when you had time to go out for a meal or drinks, you were talking about the next job and how long he would be gone this time, or you weren’t talking at all.
Tonight though, Rob was unusually attentive. He had stopped bringing up the incident completely, probably having decided that it was for his own good to just drop it.
The two of you talked about your weeks, your trip, his work. The next thing you knew, discussion of the next convention weekend came up. Of course it was too good to be true that you’d avoid the topic especially when he just got home, but it was sort of inevitable.
“I’m sorry I have to leave next weekend,” he said.
“Next weekend?” You asked. “You literally just did a convention.”
“I know. Sometimes they’re really close together. You know that.”
“Yeah, I know,” you said softly, now trying to zone out of the conversation. You hated it. You hated how much it bothered you that he worked like this. It also didn’t help that he seemed to be working on set more often.
“I had a thought though…” he said.
“What?”
“I was thinking… I can’t really get out of work next weekend…”
“Of course you can’t.”
“But… you should come with me.”
You looked up at him from across the table, sort of surprised that the thought had come to him. It had been a long time since he invited you along to a convention.
“Come with you to the convention?”
“Yeah. I mean, you used to all the time. Everyone misses you-“
“Everyone?”
“Yeah, everyone. And, we’d be able to spend time together.”
“Really?” You asked. “I wouldn’t be in the way of whatever it is you're doing all weekend?”
“Why would you be in the way?” He asked, looking confused as to why you would say it like that. “You’ve never been in the way.”
You hated that your thoughts seemed to be slipping out loud lately. You hadn’t meant to say it. Mostly because it was stupid that you thought that way. But, you were holding onto a bit of resentment toward him. You couldn’t help but wonder if he was tired of you by now, because it sometimes really felt that way.
“I mean, if you really want me around…”
“Of course I do,” he said sharply. He went back to being upset in an instant and you had to look away.
“Well, I would really love to spend a weekend with you,” you answered. “Even if you’re working. Also, I haven’t seen everyone else in a while. It’ll be nice.”
“Good,” he smiled, letting out what you could only tell was a sigh of relief. “It’ll be good. I think we need this.”
