OKAY IK THIS IS A TEXT BLOCK BUT DONT PANIC! We are good JKSDKJL

So it’s been about a month since the last chapter update, my b 💀🙏BUT I have good reasons, and I realized that while I mentioned it in an A/N on the fic itself, I probably have people following me here who haven’t seen that 😭👍Better late than never tho! Putting it under a cut bc it’s a bit long my bad

I’ve had a good chunk of chapter 39 completed since I uploaded 38, but as I was writing and reviewing my stuff to ensure consistency and such, erm, well 😭I’ve hit a point where the problems I’ve had on the backburner are no longer avoidable. Additionally, by nature of how long I’ve been working on this story (4.5 years mama mia 💀💀💀) I’ve had time to think about and enhance some #Lore 😳!

Reflecting on all of this, I really think that in order for the upcoming bits to be at their best and most impactful, I need to revisit the much older chapters and make some revisions. Which I know can sound beyond frustrating, but I would rather do this and make the whole experience much more consistent and satisfying than shoehorn in a bunch of stuff late-game and feel like a rugpull yk???

The main thing that pushed me over the edge is Hiro because the track that I’ve been on regarding his background/power set up is gonna lead me into an unsatisfying and unfun corner, and that’s not what I want. So I’ve been rattling that man around for months tryna figure smth out AND I FINALLY GOT IT! His character and personality won’t be changing so no worries there! Nor will introductions or roles, but I’ve finally got something set up to explain his powers a lot more reasonably as well as being able to have a bit more classic HB callbacks :]

Essentially I’m gonna do what I did in 2021 where I have a little laundry list of things to tweak and add so that the story is at it’s best! My writing abilities have definitely improved and grown since I first started writing this fic, so I’m finally able to add or depict things I simply didn’t have the skill level for before which is SOOOOO SATISFYING !!!

Currently all chapters up to chapter 14 have been updated with new action sequences, conversations, and grammatical/pacing issues resolved to be much closer to how I always intended for them to be--also some fun little 1.20 snippets that just fit in a way I’ve always wanted! Those cherry trees were too good to not mention 💖

When I’m done I’ll be uploading the real chapter 39 in the place of the A/N one and will denote which chapters got the most notable changes :> They’ll mostly be the ones from about 8-15 I’d say tho solely because of Hiro 😭 Love that bastard but he has been a MIGRAINE to sort out for YEARS

Anyways that’s all I’ve got 😭🙏Thank you guys sm for reading and for your patience and apologies for the change-up, but I do think this is a good thing to do for the health of the story even if it takes a lot of extra effort and time. I really like the jellyfish! If there's large deep sea fish thats always fun to go see as well; oh! And the OTTERS!!

Sort of; I wash my face in the shower with the trader joes face wash my mom gifts me and then when I get out my eyelids get super dry so I put a very thin spread of aquaphor on them and then chapstick is a must ever since I got one really bad cold in like 2015 (my lips will legit start cracking if I go literally one day without chapstick :') ); if I have a tattoo healing I'll moisturize that with some regular lotion.

21. A number that weirds you out?

I don't really have any; i guess if im having a particularly bad OCD day 666 isn't my favorite number to see but thats really it. My favorite number is 17 tho <3

it took me a while to appreciate this song ngl ... luke gives an incredible performance on stage tbh, i'm happy he qualified for the final. plus singing in your native language and naming yourself after the dead serbian music panorama are big reasons to give you bonus points. slay king !!

i might be biased (i'm italian after all) but i love this song. i relate to this song. a lot. marco's voice is sublime imo, i'm so very glad he is representing our country in liverpool. <3 tbh i actually can't wait to see what he prepared for the finale !!!! i have really high expectations but i know he's gonna leave me awestruck <3 vai marchettooooo <3

though given the timeline this can't be a-yuan...he'd be way too old by the time the post-sunshot timeline rolls around. that's at least two years later. so I guess this is his older sister who looks the same as him. god but that's a cute little actor. love him and his big chubby cheeks and his little fingers and his baby wig

GREAT choice for little wn and wq too. they look just like their adult versions. actually I think the casting for all the kids versions of the adult characters was perfect except for a-yuan doesn't look a great deal like lsz imo

literally seconds apart. I fucking give up. and I don't think it's the translations because this has been a consistent issue in all the versions I've watched. it's 10! wq and wn are clearly around the age of the others so it's not 20

remember that post that's like 'jc: lady wen may I rub thine shoulders? massage your feet? feed you grapes? vs. wwx and wq doing a six-step handshake and laughing together' that NAILED it. jc trying to be attentive and gentlemanly bc he views her as a Woman and he's trying to fulfill the role he understands to be expected of him, as a man, in society ( to Intervene and Protect). meanwhile wwx views her as an independent actor in this shitty situation they're in. dgmw wwx is also sexist but he treats women more like human people than jc does, esp wq. he also thinks out of the box and isn't afraid to challenge social norms, unlike jc who's guided by social expectations because his parents haven't given him strong positive role modeling and he doesn't have strong instincts on how to behave outside of what he's been taught by society in general

but like I said. still sexist. it's not like being a creative and original thinker can save him from Living In A Society

lwj is very polite to wq, as he appears to be to all women, but I don't think he'd get close with any women because he doesn't get close with anyone at all. also I don't think he meets many women so he doesn't have much interaction with them outside of professional and impersonal settings so they've been at an arm's length from him since he mama died

jc is consistently so unpleasant to wwx. like would it kill you to be supportive of your brother when he's trying to solve a mystery. for ONCE

I love wq but jyl is probably my favorite female character

They’re so precious, I like my idols talented but also a little cringe, and those two (well, four) are extra ridiculous. Hey hi! I was wondering how you got so comfortable making a human x dragon ship? I have my own ideas for one, but I’m just not sure how to draw it… I love the Armed Dragon series, I’d just like to know how you got so comfortable with it. Hello, wonderful anon!

This is a bit tricky cos I struggle a lot to find myself comfortable drawing them, and all has to do with Gandora's size that until today I keep messing up.

I don't know if your question goes to how to draw dragons or how to think of them to finally sit and draw em or both. But I googled the Armor Dragon and mama mia I get why you struggle with it💦

But lemme give it a try to explain myself on how I think Gandora or any monster to finally sit and draw them.

Anytime I want to draw Yugi and Gandora, I try to keep in mind their dynamic and personalities: Master and monster, Yugi is gentle and soft and Gandora is rude and needy. Giving a personality to the dragon is vital! Yeah, they'll follow instincts at some point, but giving them a very clear personality will help a lot to create situations for them.

After the dynamic I focus on Gandora, I have issues with his size tho, sometimes my ideas implies a bigger Gandora, in other I need em to be a bit smaller, or simply I make the mistake and notices it too late! But considering that this dragon is reaaaally big I gotta think of em first and later find a way to include Yugi.

Something I have to always remember to myself is how Gandora doesn't have lips or eyebrows, which makes facial expressions difficult, but not impossible! It's so fun to draw his face muscles, specially when he's angry hmmmm and honestly I don't know how it works, I just do it hahaha.

I feel like I didn't give an useful answer or tip, but I truly don't know how I do it myself, I just..... draw I guess...

The last thing I could recommend for this is: have fun! drawing dragons is challenging, specially when they have complex designs, but once you get used to them imagination go pyuuuuuum! and without noticing you're already drawing hardcore dragon sex MUAHAHA.

not that i've ever been aware of, tho all three of my siblings -both younger and older- are named after family members or family friends. i've never heard a story about where my name comes from, so my assumption has always just been that it was chosen because mum's family was Polish Catholics (Mia is short for Maria but i'm very far from being anything other than a white girl)

2. when was the last time you cried?

it's Sunday today yeah? so probably like Thursday or Friday while having too many emotions about *something*. i am a giant crybaby and get emotional and cry about things all the time honestly so it's not that big of a deal when i do and not worth taking note of 🤣 Saturday i spent at work for 9 hours then immediately on a 7 hour road trip where i slept a bunch so no crying yesterday but before that it could have been any time really.

3. do you have kids?

only friends that i've adopted. going from the nickname Mia to lots of friends calling me Mama Mia was entirely too easy and i'll mom at them all 💖

4. what sports do you play/have you played?

the only time i've ever willingly been on a sports team was when i played youth soccer in elementary school, it was just teams of kids from mixed grades all from my school and we got free tshirts and there was an ice cream social at the end of the whole program and honestly those were my motivating factors for playing (and i was bad at it)

theoretically i was doing that for a while where i was working for myself making things (sewing, doing applique, dyeing fabric, doing some leatherwork, etc) on commission, but i struggle with self and time management, plus my income was incredibly inconsistent and variable so my bills just weren't getting paid. so really i guess a dream version of that would be one where i was getting paid better and had the ability to stay on task 🤣🤣

anyway i really like that movie if you couldn't tell !!! personally i recommend it but fair warning its very gorey/bloody/violent (in that strange comedic way- think deadpool or kingsman) and made me CRY. like just sob. so the emotional damage was real but i loved it anyway

idk what it is that makes me love brother characters so much. i feel like its just so sweet to be to have siblings that are just ,, always there for each other. they grew up together, they've had each other through everything, good and bad, and they've survived at each other's side. they trust each other with their lives, even if they can't trust anyone else. its more than just a best friend thing too, because its an irreplaceable bond. its just,,, ougjfjhhjh its my favorite .

And then... kind of touched that apparently he and MC get together in the future? But then he'd look at the kid and be mortified again because what are they doing here. He'd try to keep them near and keep an eye on them though. Makes sure they look both ways before crossing the street, etc.

Griffin: Sweating, pretends not to recognize the kid.... Lol MC and I just started going out, how could you exist.... Griffin would try to debate this kid on the validity of time travel and whether or not it's actually possible, probably driving the kid insane (I imagine the kid saying something like "jfc so you're actually like this in the past too 8[" and the Griffin says "don't swear at your baba, mi hije" because idk Griffin will die if he misses the chance to one-up someone in a conversation.... So the kid would be like "Aha gotcha, you DO accept I'm your hije" and Griffin would be like dammitttt fineee).

Mia: I'm too young to be a mom, says a little voice in Mia's head, while another voice says I'm so fucking ready to be a mom. Very distracted from whatever the kid's purpose is, just straight up imprints on them. Mia is already something of a mom friend so she'd be asking this kid if they're hungry and making sandwiches for them and fussing over them (and uh, making sandwiches and fussing over MC too, by proxy). When the kid inevitably says "jfc so you were always like this" Mia will just have that gong in her head again going Yup I'm a good mom I'm ready >:) Preemptively starts calling MC her wife/wifey from now on.

Dart: Does a double take the moment he sees this kid because he recognizes them right away. Points at the kid and stares with a wordless Are you--? and I expect the kid nods and Dart just silently palms his own face like Oh my god I hope we got (get?? FUTURE TENSE) married, please tell me this is not a one night stand child I don't want MC to be a baby mama my mother would kill me....... Over time just intensely interrogates this poor kid like "Do we feed you do we clothe you do we love you enough" and "Tell me everything you know about how I proposed to your mom and what time you were born so you don't get erased from existence"

Jade: Spontaneously ages ten years, very tired suddenly. Pours herself a glass of wine and chugs it. "You're from the future...... You said you're my kid? Okay..... What do you want tho" There's a moral heaviness where she very much does not want children, yet the future says she has a child, so if she inadvertently prevents the child from being born is it gonna be murder? She also idly wonders if the kid is here to kill her Terminator-style. MC will have to console her for hours. Jade will try to be nice, she really will, but she's quite skeptical and distressed by the whole situation and would rather someone else deal with it.

kadou doesn't have this problem. he's a wonderful character, finely wrought and full of life and of the specific details that give someone a personality

this is actually the first time I've seen a marriage act as an obstacle to two characters getting together. original, if still a little weird

sylvia's contempt for her brother is pretty funny, but it's a little underwhelming that THESE are the great masterminds. they're acting like quarreling children...

the dialogue is honestly pretty charming and funny. the sex scene itself is fine - I've read better on ao3 - and I wish it was more umm thorough but you know what I'll take what I can get. I think they're better at buildup that delivering bc they have this tendency of having characters discuss what they want to do or will do in vague but appealing terms and then not doing it bc there's no time or opportunity or w/e. but they'll do it later! offscreen! maybe I wanted the chapter-long full nudity stuff...ah well that's what ao3 is for ig

it is kind of fun that the prince is the one giving head. like there's potentially some heavily weighted expectations on their sexual dynamics bc of the nature of their bodyguard/prince relationship but it's not really about service at all. we don't even know who tops...the yaoi fangirls are weeping....

I'm satisfied in the sense that I understandal why mx. rowland doesn't write longer sex scenes and I think it's because that's simply not their forté as a writer. alas...good sex scenes are hard to come by in original fiction. or maybe I just don't read enough to know. or maybe I need to be extremely invested in the characters. hence the fanfic

but yeah I think the buildup waa so good that I had really high hopes for the actual scene itself, both here and in unstrictly ballroom, and it felt like I was being cheated so it was frustrating...but it's simoly not their strong suit and I can accept that

they were planning on killing tadek? damn...I knew I could scent the death flags on him. I don't know how skillfully they could have navigated that loss, and I like tadek, but I do think it would have added a heavier emotional weight to the story, and perhaps a maturity and a solid depth that was lacking

they said the first draft was written in 2016 so it's unlikely evemer was heavily inspired by lwj - in fact, AR might have liked wx or lwj because it appealed to a dynamic they already enjoyed. or maybe evemer was altered a little during the later edits. no way of knowing

also apparently the cover is ARTWORK? I for real thought that they were models, damn...well kadou is way too ugly I'm sorry. and they're both way too pale <- said as if I understand the character designs better than the author

also 6 inches is such a huge height difference. don't love height differences in general they piss me off

either way, I like the ending. a romance is easy to enjoy finishing if you like both the characters and are happy to see them together

and that's it! I do plan on reading their other books, and I do have interest in this general genre of lgbt romance historical/fantasy, but man...the bodyguard stuff really isn't my thing. I'm umpressed how well AR navigated it but if it wasn't for a set of specific circumstances, I wouldn't be reading this

as it is, the original characters were fine, the worldbuilding was pretty good if rather under, the romance was nice, the plot was uninspiring, the comedy and dialogue was actually great, the emotional and social intelligence of the writing was extremely impressive - I liked this book, but I do think AR is even better as a fanfic writer than an original writer

then again I have read some truly awful stuff on their page so. jury's mixed ig

but! there's still their other book series to read :) which I definitely will, it sounds rly good
