DPxDC Afterlife, But It's A Bar

[discontinued, feel free to add on]

It was weird. Not wrong, alarming or dangerous type of weird. Not good or comforting either.

Just plain weird.

It all started a few days ago, on Wednesday, to be exact. On a rare occasion, Jason was patrolling outside of his territory ("cover for me, I have a date" my ass, Replacement), and he spotted something out of place. A neon green, almost toxic colored sign that read "Afterlife".

Honestly, who names a place like that? But judging by the placement and design, it was a bar, and Jason could almost appreciate the irony. Maybe it had a slogan along the lines of "our drinks will send you beyond the lines of life and death" or something. But at the same time, it could be interpreted as "alcohol can and will be the death of you," which, technically, is not the best PR campaign for a bar.

Jason decided to visit the place anyway. He was curious about the implied death joke, sue him.

Of course, he didn't visit immediately. He was still on patrol, and he just heard the sound of gunshots to the west. Not to say that the place was quiet.

(Oddly quiet for a bar in Gotham, now that he thinks about it)

Anyway, the next day, he went there not as Red Hood but as Jason Todd, an ordinary civilian who decided to grab a beer in the evening. Only to not find the place.

He couldn't have just miss it - he remembered the street, he knew the building, he was absolutely fucking sure where the "Afterlife" should have been. He searched the whole block nonetheless, and then proceeded to check the whole area, but to no avail.

Damn, it seems like he can't get to the afterlife both literally and- the other literally. Yeah, he might be having too much fun with the oddly chosen name for the nonexistent bar.

It didn't exist on the maps and internet either. At this point, Jason was contemplating the idea of it being a hallucination or a dream. He even checked the recording on his helmet from Wednesday night, but the whole time he was in the area, the video was filled with interference and static.

Weird. Slightly suspicious, but Red Robin, who's been patrolling the same area for weeks before him, never reported any interferences, so it probably had something to do with his helmet and not the area in general.

On Thursday night, he purposefully went there right after patrol. And the nonexistent bar suddenly existed again! The same neon green sign, the same quiet street around it.

Seriously, what is this mysterious fuckery?

Now, if he was a Bat, he would have reported this to others and investigated, lurked around in shadows, and approached with caution. If he was a Robin, he would have still reported and then straight up marched in there and saw how it goes.

Alas, he was Red Hood, so he decided to watch for the bar guests and see just who the hell goes in and out of the place.

And there was the next weird thing.

No one was going in or out. Jason sat there for a whole hour, and not even one person entered or left the building. Despite the muffled sounds of music, voices and laughter coming from the place.

The final kicker was the fact that after some careful questioning and dropping hints, Jason found out that no one except him ever saw the "Afterlife"'s sign. No one's even heard of it, both the Batclan and the Gothamites.

The fuck?

So he did the next logical thing. He brought the smartest member of the Bats with him. Tim owed him anyway. Might as well use it now instead of later.

Friday night proved two things: one, Tim was still his favorite to work with out of all the bats and birds, not questioning anything as to why Jason is asking him to check out a bar, and two, Jason just might be going insane.

Tim couldn't see the "Afterlife" even when Jason pointed at the sign from not further than ten feet. The irony of the stipid name was not even amusing anymore.

Tim didn't ask any questions after this experiment, and Jason didn't want to admit that he is losing the grip of reality, so they ended up simply parting their ways after. Can the Pits cause brain damage? More damage than there was in the first place, that is.

Now that he thinks about it, the color of the sign is really similar to the Lazarus waters. He should have noticed it sooner, but in his defense, who would look at the bubbling pool of toxic waters and think, "Oh, that would make a dope neon sign"? Apparently, the owner of the "Afterlife".

The color might be just a coincidence.

...no, in the world he lives in, coincidences like this just don't happen. Besides, Jason doesn't believe in shit like fate or destiny.

So, here he is, on Saturday night, standing in front of the door to the Afterlife. It would have been funny if it wasn't so weird. What's even more weird is that the closer he gets to the door, the less nervous he feels, like the place is radiating some calming aura. Wait, no, scratch that, Jason is so not calling it a calming aura for God's sake. That sounds just like those homemade witches with their crystals, tarot readings, and whatnot.

He's going to call it... tranquilizer vibes. Yeah, that's better.

He takes a deep breath, getting ready to see whatever it is on the other side, pushes the door open, and walks into the bar.

...

Whatever he's been expecting to see, it's not this.

Phantom of Truth by Haiju

NOTE: An edited/updated version of the sequel (Shadow of a Doubt) is also on AO3, but not finished. The finished, unedited version can be found on FF.net here.

Summary: Locked away in a secret government lab with Phantom as her sole object of study, nothing stands between Maddie and the truth... except, perhaps, herself.

Review: You can’t talk about Danny Phantom fanfic without bringing up Phantom of Truth. This one defines the vivisection genre. It’s written in Maddie’s perspective and you can see her character in every little detail of the writing.

Treading Water by TheFullCatastrophe

Summary: "This is the story of why we had to start calling Danny Fenton, Danny FINton. Get it, Danny? 'Cause you have FINS? Oh, I kill me." - a summary by Tucker Foley.

Review: Mermaid AU! Another classic fandom fic, this one with great worldbuilding and some dark, realistic vibes that make the ghosts (well, mermaids) really feel dangerous.

Modern Day Ghost Girl by MemoryWriter

Summary: Wendy Manson, 14-year old freshman in Casper High. Review: One of the first fics I ever read, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Review: Tim is great in this. This one is full of scheming and mind games and all that good stuff.

Review: THIS FIC. It’s creative, it’s dark, it’s gory - this one makes me feel like I’m back in middle school reading The Hunger Games for the first time. This fic does not pull any punches.

Summary: Bruce's habit of collecting strays is not limited by dimension. Or When Young Justice Batman comes across an angsty, seemingly abandoned by his Batman Tim Drake, he decides to step up to the plate and parent the crap out of him.

Review: Oh this one is a long, epic story with all kinds of twists and turns. And lots and lots of emotional batfam moments.

A Gentlekid Thief by Blazonix

Summary: Tim didn't mean to become the notorious thief Red X; it just sort of happened. Just like how he somehow wound up being Batman’s greatest nemesis - his therapist. He would like to remind whatever higher forces are out there that he is still only 12.

Especially one as surrounded by mystery as Billy. OR Billy gets adopted by the Batfamily while trying to deal with a strong magical enemy.

Review: I’m always a fan of gen fic that also has an overarching story and great villain!

Summary: The more I research it, the more I know it has to be true. Dick Grayson is Robin. And that means Bruce Wayne is Batman. All the pieces fit. I move my Dick and Bruce Wayne things into the Batman and Robin box and buy an extra lock for it.

Review: One-shot written from a young Tim’s perspective. The writing style really brings his character to life.

NOTE: A multi part series

Summary: Tim knows antagonizing Lex Luthor wasn’t exactly his safest move but the point is really driven home by the bullet to the shoulder. Or: The AU where Jason never died and Tim is a civilian who contributes to crime fighting by taking surveillance photos and leaving them on the desktop of the Batcomputer.

Review: Gotta love some ‘stalker Tim gets involved in hero stuff without actually wearing a cape’ stuff.

Detective Conan & Magic Kaito

NOTE: This fic is actually a rewrite, buuuuuut I saved the older, longer version if you want to read that one instead. Available here (I just copy and pasted it, so formatting may be a little weird)

Summary: For as long as he's known him, Hattori Heiji has always seemed to gotten mixed up in cases with a sort of... supernatural touch. Honestly, Conan's never thought much of it- it's not as if the things that go bump in the night are actually real, and they've got countless cases behind them to prove just that.But after getting mixed up in a strange case in Osaka and learning a disturbing secret from Heiji's past, its left Conan wondering if there's more his friend isn't telling him. So he does what any good detective would- investigate.He's just... not sure he was ready for the answers.

Review: I am a huge of discordiansamba’s writing! It very descriptive and the stories tend to have a lot of interesting moving parts. This fic in particular is great for its worldbuilding and the magical, dangerous adventures Heiji gets involved in. And Heiji trying to hide stuff from Conan always makes for some good tension.

Blood and Snow by discordiansamba

Summary: Heiji Hattori has never believed in the supernatural. Things like vampires have always been a bunch of nonsense to him. But the supernatural is about to prove itself very real.

Review: If you like the last one, you’ll like this one too – another supernatural adventure focusing on Heiji!

Review: I just like Cade! And an outsider’s perspective is always fun, especially in this writing style.

The Case of the Magic Bullet Murder by MirrorandImage

NOTE: Technically a sequel, but I didn’t read the first one and wasn’t lost. There’s also a third fic that’s good too!

Summary: As always Conan stumbles across another body; and this time the prime suspect is this high school kid named Kuroba Kaito. Sequel to The Case of the Hidden Epidemic.

Review: We get to see Conan interact with Kaito, and that always makes for fun secret identity shenanigans. And we even get to see Kaito get involved in solving a case!

Insanity, Apparently by Taliya

NOTE: A series of one shots

Summary: Takagi Wataru would like to register a complaint to whichever deity thought it would be hilarious to toss him into odd situations with Kaitou KID. Repeatedly. Because this was far beyond his pay grade.

Review: A fun story with a mix of characters you don’t see very often.

Be a Better Me by Lisa_Telramor

Summary: Kaito thought that the Robot Incident ended with the destruction of his copycat robot. He couldn't have guessed how wrong that assumption was when he is injured months later.

Review: Wonderfully angsty and doesn’t shy away from the horror of Kaito’s new reality.

Guide you home by Tobina

NOTE: Uses Guide & Sentinel tropes, which I’d never heard of before but I guess it used to be popular in fanfic in the 90’s? Basically Sentinels have superpowers and Guides help them control it. The two tend to be lifelong partners, but it can be romantic or familial or platonic.

Summary: As a Level 5s Sentinel and skillful detective, Kudou Shinichi helps the Tokyo Police Department whenever they get stuck with a case, his Guide Ran at his side to ground him when needed. After a KID heist, it becomes clear that Guides are dissapearing and Shinichi and his western counterpart Hattori Heiji are knee-deep into the case, especially because this one hits far too close to home for comfort. When then even phantom thief Kaitou KID gets involved, things are bound to get... interesting.

Review: A GREAT story that does a good job with worldbuilding and characters’ relationships. While it focuses on Conan, my favorite part of this fic is the arc the Kaito goes through and the way this story takes a look at his motivations and moral compass.

It's Raining Men, Hallelujah by Asuka Kureru

Summary: Conan already has some kind of corpse magnet power, but when Heiji is in his orbit the corpses actively come to them. From above. Witness.

Review: A fandom classic! Short and hilarious.

Inconceivable by joisbishmyoga

Summary: In the face of a DNA analysis Kaito can't deny, he begins uncovering the rest of his family's secrets. Too bad he's not the only one looking.

Review: An epic story that has a takedown of the Black Org AND twin AU, what’s not to love?

Secrets in Indigo by Sinnatious

Summary: A throwaway comment about Kaitou KID’s eye colour sets Kaito on an uncomfortable path of discovery.

Review: I can’t give too many spoilers! An overall great story with great writing as Kaito discovers secrets and also tries to keep them hidden.

Summary: The beauty of the era of quirks wasn't the amazing abilities; it was that nobody sane would even entertain the thought that Kuroko, the most wanted vigilante in all of Japan, was Quirkless.

Review: A vigilante AU with a badass Deku (or, in this case, Kuroko) who puts the whole Hero Commisison to shame. The rivalry between Deku and Bakugou is so intense in this fic, I love it.

Yesterday Upon the Stair by PitViperOfDoom

Notes: When you’re done with this, there’s also a fun related one-shot by another author called U.A. Unsolved by kabukichou (ameliafromafairytale)

Summary: Midoriya Izuku has always been written off as weird. As if it's not bad enough to be the quirkless weakling, he has to be the weird quirkless weakling on top of it. But truthfully, the "weird" part is the only part that's accurate. He's determined not to be a weakling, and in spite of what it says on paper, he's not actually quirkless. Even before meeting All-Might and taking on the power of One For All, Izuku isn't quirkless. Not that anyone would believe it if he told them.

Review: An epic story full of secrets and ghosts!

Hero Class Civil Warfare by RogueDruid (Icarius51)

Summary: Heroes lead by Bakugo. Villains lead by Midoriya. Seven days prep time. Three days for Izuku Midoriya to show why they should be glad he's not a real villain.

Review: Badass Deku going all out and scaring his classmates. This one uses nearly every character from class 1-A and 1-B and manages to make everyone have an impact on the story!

Tales of the Jade Mantis by Chess_Blackfyre

NOTE: A multi-part series

Summary: The adventures of Inko Midoriya, Number One Vigilante in all of Japan, and her complicated relationship with the Number One Hero, All Might. However, it's not all about kicking butt and taking names, watch as the telekinetic in the leather jacket struggles with things like brutal mentors, working in customer service, and trying to be a good single parent.

Review: The only fic I’ve found with Inko as a vigilante! Quite the journey, this one goes over her career as a vigilante and what comes after when Izuku suddenly has a quirk. I love the weird adventures Inko gets up to and the interesting people she meets. One of my all time favorites!

Monochrome Skies by QuantumPoint

Summary: Midoriya Izuku died four years ago. Midoriya Izuku dead in a housefire when his mother didn’t notice him come home early. Midoriya Izuku dead because heroes failed to hear the screams of a scared child. Midoriya Izuku dead alone and scared.His mother mourned him but went on with her life. The heroes swore to be better, but still made the same mistakes. And for four years, everyone believed he was until Aizawa caught sight of a well-known vigilante and decided to investigate. Everyone believed it until Yagi bumped into a kind child on the street and tried to give him hope.

Review: I can’t say much because spoilers, but if you’re an artist, read this.

NOTE: It’s a Card Captor Sakura crossover, but honestly I’ve never seen that and as far as I can tell this doesn’t have much to so with that show. It’s BNHA characters and world with some Card Captor magic elements.

Summary: Midoriya Izuku is quirkless. This, he knows very well.This is also what he knows:Weekends and vacations are reserved for walking neighborhood dogs. The elderly are the most powerful people on Earth. Local gods are picky eaters. Trust is a feeble, feeble thing. Magic cards are incredibly difficult to seal, especially when the world thinks you're a vigilante. Heroes are not magicians, but magicians can be heroes.Becoming a cardcaptor wasn't on Izuku's bucket list, but he'll be damned if he doesn't make the best out of it.

Review: Deku doesn’t have a quirk, so he gets sucked up into some magical card captor responsibilities and goes all out, as he does. This one has an analytical Deku, otherworldly magic, creepy villains, and some tension between a vigilante Deku and hero society as a whole. One of my absolute favorites!

Quirk: Knife! by brightredwings

Summary: Izuku Midoriya is unlucky, to say the least and life hasn't exactly been kind. Things weren't so bad in the beginning, but once he was diagnosed quirkless, well, it all went to shit. Everyone grew to hate him, even his best friend and own father.Was it really that impossible to become a hero without a quirk? It doesn't really matter because to Izuku, the term hero is flexible. He'll be his own hero because he's learnt from his own experience, people are selfish and the only one he can rely on is himself.Left alone to fend for himself in the world, Izuku goes out to change things on his own terms, despite his methods being slightly illegal. Keyword, slightly. It's only illegal if he gets caught, right?

Review: A long story with great arcs for a lot of League of Villains character, and a beautiful ending. Some pretty intense angst with happy endings for everyone.

Roses are red and they taste like shit by Unbreakable_Red_Riot

Summary: Katsuki was really fucking sick of the smell of flowers.

Review: Ah, yes, KiriBaku with hanhaki disease. Mostly from Bakugou’s point of view, so you get to see all his frustration and a ton of drama. Also looks into some other characters like Midoriya and Todoroki, which is a nice touch.

The Beauty of a Beast by starofgems

Summary: Once upon a time a lonely beast lived in a manor deep in the forest. He dreamed of the day his true love appeared to break his curse... When a beauty finally appears in his life, it is not quite as he imagined. For who could have thought a beauty would be more of a beast. Or The beauty and the beast AU nobody asked for but here it is.

Review: A very sweet love story. (KiriBaku)

The Deaf Hero: Deku by BeyondTheClouds777

Summary: His whole life, Izuku was told that he couldn’t do it. That he should give up while he still had the chance. That someone like him—Deaf, Quirkless—could never become a hero.But Izuku wasn’t going to give up. Not now and not ever. (OR, the one where nearly everything's the same, but Izuku is Deaf.)

Review: Right what it says on the tin. Deku’s added deafness creates more tension between Deku and Bakugou, his classmates, and even other heroes. Things get angsty but Deku always stays determined, which I love.

Miraculous Ladybug

Where Have All The Heroes Gone and Where Are All The Gods? by Anthemyst

NOTE: This is actually part 5 of a series, but I just started with this one and didn’t feel lost. Just know that in this story, Gabirel isn’t Hawkmoth. Most of this was written before Season 1 ended, I think.

Summary: On their fourteenth birthday, the Agreste triplets' world is turned upside down. Their government has been overthrown, their city taken, and superheroes all over Europe have suddenly and mysteriously vanished-including, to their shock, their parents. They'll need to work together, and become the heroes Paris needs, if they're going to save both their parents and their country.

Review: A next-gen fic that got me into ML fanfic in general! It’s got a fun dystopian vibe and the Agreste kids are all fleshed out very nicely. One of my absolute favorites!

Not A Bit by CaptainOzone

Summary: "Sometimes, being a brother is even better than being a superhero," says author Marc Brown. Félix Agreste has been both, and he can't have said it better himself. (AKA The Brothers AU I wanted to read but had to write myself when I realized this AU has a depressing lack of fic to its name)

Review: I’m always a fan of fic that has Marinette and Adrien AND Felix and Bridgette.

Legend of Zelda (Linked Universe)

Looking for Group by Tashilover

Summary: People want to be a Hero so badly, they're willing to bribe, lie, cheat, and beg. Twilight knows there's a Hero amongst the people in this college town. It's just a matter of finding them.

Review: The modern setting keeps things fresh, yet this story is still full of legends, danger, and a fight of good vs evil!

Look at me and tell me. Tell me truthfully. Do I look cursed to you?”Mob looks at him, and tells him truthfully. “No.”“Well, you didn’t look very long,” says Reigen. “Let’s just stand here for a moment, like so, and you can have another look, a nice long look, and really think about it...” (There's nothing strange about being called back to exorcise the same haunted photocopier six days in a row. It must just be a very haunted photocopier.)

When did you post your first ever fanfic?

Hm, I suppose if we go by actual fanfiction standards and not just slapping people with an idea, I guess it would be 2022. Since that was around the time I got confident enough to write.

First character you wrote for?

Weeeeeeell, I suppose the most recent thing would have to be Danny and Damian in the twin au, however I'm not quite sure if their relationship would be platonic since they easily stab each other but we won't talk about that.

Another would probably be Kris and the Red Soul, but even then, I'm not sure if that is falls entirely along the lines of platonic, but more of an obsession.

Well, I suppose it should since there's no romantic feelings involved!

Dark Ages (Pariah Dark and Clockwork) and Counterfeit (John Constantine and Vlad Masters)! Dark Ages is the infection I acquired and decided to be my baby, Counterfeit started as a crackship I fished out of a dumpster somewhere and then also became a baby to me.

As of right now? I suppose it would be Tumblr, not on purpose surprisingly, rather that I mostly release some prompts or ideas on Tumblr, and some of them just get up and decide to be, well, little fic drabbles lmao.

The second would have to Archive of Our Own, which was the current place I was posting my works until my ideas decided to become little drabbles out of nowhere lmao.

Yasu Masashige was not a normal man, he knows this. Known it since that fateful day he stepped foot in that old high school to search for his… he wouldn’t call them, friends, but they were the closest he could have gotten.

None should have been able to escape the yokai as he did. None should have been able to survive within a twisted realm as he did.

None should have been able to escape the witch as many times as he.

None should have been able to kill the Beast of Control as he had done, either.

Not even his ancestor, the great, powerful man that he was, had been able to produce such a feat. Had the circumstances been different, Yasu had not a single doubt in his mind that he would have been able to deal with each of the Beasts one on one. But they were not. Thus, he could only dream.

Yasu was not a normal man, he knew and others were bound to pick up on it eventually. He was stronger, faster and far more durable than any normal human had any right to be, after he drove his blade into Kintoru for the last strike, adding another giant cut to her body along with the numerous others.

He was almost free, soon. Soon he would be able to go home, back to his parents.

He watched as she fell to her knees, her numerous legs unable to keep her disgusting form upon her feet and he limped his way over, not even caring about the blood leaking down his skin, nor the way his body screamed for him to stop moving until he stood by her back. He lifted his right hand, the one holding his ancestors Blessed Blade above her, his knuckles were long since white from the tight grip he had upon its hilt, he raised it higher and stabbed it towards her prone form.

“Child… wait..” The sword stilled, a mere cut away from its tip entering her twisted flesh and finishing her once and for all. “Don't you… wish to be with your family… again? I can give them to you-”

A pained, feminine screech of pain and agony pierced through the silence of the Sakura battleground as Yasu shoved The Blessed Blade against her spine. “Shut it.” He pushed down hard, hearing the snapping of bone as she wailed in pain.

He barely even thought twice before he pulled it out and thrusted it back inside, she wailed out again in pain. The Sakura Battleground was cleansed from Kintoru’s cursed existence by the constant, echoing sounds of her pained shrieks and wails as he stabbed his sword into her back again and again, fueled by the emotions of an entire bloodline’s worth of suffering that the Beast of Control forced upon them.

This should count as a snippet, yes? Only 474 words out of the about, 2899 words of the entire thing. It's an old WIP, I will admit, but I since I didn't have any ones I was currently working on, I decided to pick from the older ones!

Okay so Imma preface this by warning y’all that by 2025 I will have been writing consistently for 20 full years almost completely uninterrupted

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I emotionally prepared myself for “around 140”.

It’s 175. I have 175 works on AO3. And. Uh. Over 100 on fanfiction.net before I moved in 2018. I haven’t even posted any of the Dragon Age stuff to AO3 yet.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

1 056 433 words.

236 362 are Dead and Loving it and you have NO IDEA how mad I am that it isn’t 236 632 I HAVE FAILED

(That’s 22% by the way and it is BY FAR the longest thing I have)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

At the moment? I’m writing DPxDC, Dragon Age Inquisition, Critical Role campaign 2 specifically, and my own DnD campaign. Only DPxDC and CR are on AO3 at the moment, but my AO3 also has Samurai Deeper Kyo (MY FIRST FANDOM), and a Warehouse 13xDoctor Who crossover

Almost always! Gonna have to throw in the towel on the latest chapter of Dead and Loving It cuz I fell behind and there were 185 of you absolute animals ❤️❤️❤️

But… yeah, I come from some of the smallest fandoms on ff.net and I mean “four fics total and I posted two of them”. Y’all take a minute to say something to me, I say something back!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

So listen. I wrote a LOT of angsty Caleb for dearly beloved partner, because Caleb is his favourite and he likes to see him suffer, but that is mainly hurt/comfort.

The ANGSTIEST thing I have ever written is probably still my SDK fic on AO3, The Eyes. It’s a character study on just the saddest motherfucker in that whole sad series and because no one on fucking earth knows Samurai Deeper Kyo SPOILER TIME:

It’s Hishigi’s journey trying to save his people from the Death Disease and how he went from patients with names to test subjects with numbers and the numbers reached the hundreds of thousands… almost all young children. While he’s actively dying of the Death Disease and carving Medusa Eyes into his own body to keep it functioning. And his husband’s boyfriend abandoned them.

Anyway canonically in the manga he dies because his husband used a secret technique that burned his heart and Hishigi said “bitch you thought” and ripped his own heart from his chest to implant in said husband so husband would live

(Husband ABSOLUTELY promptly burned that one too I fucking hate him he is the fucking worst he nearly killed my fucking blorbo who loved him and I never thought I’d cry when he died BUT THEN HISHIGI WITH THE STEEL CHAIR)

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Honestly hard to say… by sheer volume, most of what I write is happy at the end by dint of Comfort or Fluff and I wrote So Many Mighty Nein cuddle piles

If we go double entendre it’s one of the 20k+ orgies for the most happy endings though

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Some have tried, but it’s infrequent and they’ve never come back because I DO reply to comments and I revel in their suffering.

Did write an entire multichapter fic from Pure Spite because some chucklefuck failed to Actually Read my Polynein crackfic about the lesbian and the wizard side eying each other like “so if we both fuck our girlfriend will she make us kiss” and deciding it was a terrible idea

They seemed to think I was writing a serious ship fic and told me I was evil or whatever so no I wrote a whole long bit about their fabulous bro-mance hanging out in the library with all their friends reminding the goddamn wizard to eat and sleep

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

……….. well let’s start at “I invented Magic Lube Thursdays and fulfilled them every month for a year”

I write PWP, I do occasionally write smut with plot, I do orgies, I do occasional solos, I do classic couples and throuples, I do all the genders, I party the fuck down on the xenodick because knotting is not just for the furries and I’m not giving it back, and I am still over 50% of the PolyNein Explicit tag and frankly it’s very sad someone else feed me for a change

I’ve done the light and fluffy, the very darkest dubcon although not fully explicit lately, the kinky shit, occasional vanilla… there’s a couple lines I haven’t crossed but they’re the ones I’m not interested in crossing

Off the top of my head… no necrophilia, although if you count vampires or, well Danny fucking Phantom as dead that might change at some point I guess

And I have been informed that if I count vampires as necrophilia the werewolves have to count for bestiality so I’m just a moral sinkhole of monsterfucking

(And I did once murder a nosy twitter bitch who wanted to force my friend’s Lucifer into a Samifer ship that if angelcest was incest Samifer was bestiality because they’re different species so by my own dang smartass I am double damned)

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one?

Well let’s just slide right past DPxDC and say yes I do fuck with the crossovers… the craziest ones… okay I’m not looking Imma guess and we’re going over a decade back in ff.net

Pretty sure I had The Covenant x Pirates of the Caribbean x Lord of the Rings x probably Inu Yasha and at least two more but it’s been 15 years and I’m trying to forget

I did a godawful set of YuYu Hakusho crossovers with my skirting-Mary-Sue-but-she-never-got-a-ship-and-existed-solely-to-cause-Situations-for-my-actual-ships

One of the years I succeeded on Nanowrimo was with a huge and godawful multi-fandom crossover fic where if I was running out of ideas we jumped fandoms and kept going and y’know what it fucking worked

It was bad, never posted it anywhere, but it worked

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’ve noticed! But I don’t check or care to

Not yet, and it would be fucking wild to be asked

… short answer, not since I was 13 and my sister and I wrote the most sarcastic smut parody of all time

Long answer………. Seven notebooks cover to cover of back and forth with said sister, seven years of twitter RP, and three genuinely dreadful SDK fics where me and two friends wrote one each to put our blorbos in situations

(None of us had the same blorbos and we all hated each others blorbos it was amazing)

14. What's your all-time fav ship?

It’s a fucking toughie but my oldest and most consistent is HieixKurama from YuYuHakusho and also JinxTouya from same. Now THAT is some OTP 90s shit

Currently I’m still going hardest for the PolyNein (excluding Veth I did Goblin Mom for a year and a half in real time I did NOT make the leap)

And it’s new and fresh but it fills my heart and it might be here to stay, Timkerboy! Tim x Kon x Tucker for the DPxDC crowd

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Probably any of the 84 I had on my phone for various fandoms that deadass just vanished one day. Cannot find them anywhere, dead forever

I WILL finish the celebratory Molly-is-back-let’s-size-kink-Caduceus orgy that I rewrote in THE WEEK BETWEEN CRc2 140 and 141 to add Molly from spite if nothing fucking else Kingsley fucking whomst

(I love Kingsley I have and will continue to play with Threeleaf but I am still mad)

16. What are your writing strengths?

So my main strength has always been building characters, I’m real good at getting into their perspectives and giving them distinct goals

Thanks to Critical Role though, I have also got DAMN good at balancing 8+ characters in a scene by dint of not having a choice

17. Writing weaknesses?

My biggest weakness is definitely follow through. Multichapter fics I’ve started far outweigh multichapter fics I’ve finished; I think I’ve finished about five, and one of those I went and wrote an ending on 12 years later to close off my ff.net.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages?

Only if it’s another language I speak well enough to correct Google Translate. Any Latin you see in my fic is all original translation.

It doesn’t come up much, because usually other languages are fantasy languages like Ghost Speak or Infernal that I’ll mark with different punctuation rather than assigning a real language.

I do commonly use short phrases, swears, and terms of endearment in a hodgepodge of other languages in my daily life, so despite people bitching about it I will include that in my fic. It’s how I learned some of my best swears!

19. The first fandom you wrote for.

Samurai Deeper Kyo. I was 12. It was dreadful. I finished it in my 20s and I still loop back around to write more every few years.

Some stories are just… fundamental building blocks of your personality, and since that series kept coming out slowly through my full teens and 20s, and kept getting better and better and more meaningful and deep and complex…

I owe Akimine Kamijyo a lot

And so do all of you if you like anything I’ve ever written

Also, Akari is my soulmate and she was on page for 30 seconds before being my favourite character and they WROTE HER OUT OF THE ANIME so the anime must burn even ignoring the rest of the butchery

20. Fav fic you've ever written?

It’s a toughie. Again, I write… a lot, and I also used to write a lot of self indulgent/left-of-self-insert on my phone only for me, but that was a different folder of 30 fics that also spontaneously disappeared

At the moment though, it’s the Sleepers series. I am fucking OBSESSED with writing Cole’s POV, it is the most fun I’ve had in ages, he’s so goddamn sweet but also intensely creepy

5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

Yes! I'm in fandom to make friends and have fun. I made one of my best fandom friends through AO3 comments. Besides, talking about things I've made and my thoughts behind them is fun. ^.^

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

On AO3? Probably Carry On. It's a Good Omens two shot that more-or-less starts with Abel's death. It then follows Crowley and Cain as they experience exile together. But I don't really do sad endings, so it ends with Cain finding a degree of peace, even if Abel is still dead.

In general? Never shared, but it's another Good Omens story. A sequel to the above. I wrote 3 fics/chapters that explore a Fallen Raphael!Crowley coming to terms with the fact that he can't heal. So in the 2nd installment, he gets close to some humans and when one is severely injured, he fails to heal them and they die. I won't share more than that, but I literally can't read that fic without crying and I wrote it. (The fourth and fifth part of the series are him wresting the ability to heal back from the binds that were placed on it, so even those have a happy ending in a way. The people who died remain dead, though, so I think it still counts.)

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Considering none of my dpxdc longfics are finished yet, I'm gonna go with another Good Omens fic, The Demon Piper. This is based off the story of the Pied Piper, obviously. Hamelin, Germany is experiencing a famine due to rats getting into the winter stores. The adults are desperate and many are considering selling their kids to indentured servitude or worse. So the kids and Crowley make a pact to run away together. They they go off and set up their own little settlement in the mountains and everyone lives and it's super sweet. I have a few sequels I need to post that get even fluffier.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Haven't yet! Y'all are the best <3

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

My third Good Omens fic! An Evening In! It's an 18k PWP with Soft Dom Aziraphale and Service Bottom Crowley, human AU. Really, it's just two men who love each other very much. It's so soft and self indulgent, even if they do explore some kink dynamics.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one?

DPxDC is my first time in a crossover fandom. It's been a blast! IDK if it counts as crazy, though.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge

Nope. Wouldn't that be the biggest flattery, though.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic?

No. I don't think my writing style lends itself to co-writing. I'm very particular about how things get phrased and I'm a plotter and most of my planning happens mentally while driving or at work or something.

14. What's your all-time fav ship?

Oh, I don't have one! I have a fav ship in certain fandoms, though. I was in the Sherlock fandom for a while, so Johnlock obviously. For Be More Chill (the musical) it's Michael/Jeremy. For Good Omens it's Crowley/Aziraphale. For Avatar it's Zutara. Newsies has Jack/David. For DC only fics, I'm an avid Tim/Kon shipper or Core Four. But for DPxDC I'm a multishipper. I was also a multishipper when in the MCU fandom (though Steve/Tony became a nOTP for me and was never a favorite even before Age of Ultron).

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Oh, damn. It's hard to say. I plotted out a whole Good Omens Parent Trap Fusion. (Aka take the plot of the Parent Trap and fit in the characters from Good Omens.) I hate to call it abandoned since I would like to go back to it. But time...

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I do panic attacks and emotional breakdowns very well. I'm also proud of how I can weave a complex plot into a coherent story which will hopefully come out once I get further along in some of my long fics (particularly Answer My Call and I'll Carry Your Heart (Until I Find You Again)).

17. Writing weaknesses?

I don't think I'm very good at making sure all my characters have distinct voices. I've gotten way better at that this past year, but I'm still working on it. I'm also too much of a perfectionist which makes me slow. And I jump around ideas too much which makes it harder to finish projects.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages?

I will never do it. Way I see it, if the POV character understands what is being said, the reader should understand, too. Which means it needs to be written in English (the only language I can guarantee the reader of an English story can understand). If the POV character can't understand what is being said, neither should the reader. If it's omniscient POV, I will put it in English if I want the reader to have that information and leave it out if I don't. Not give some readers extra information that others don't get.

19. The first fandom you wrote for.

Naruto. I wrote it by hand in class on lined notebook paper and passed it over to my best friend. She, in turn, gave me drawings of my favorite characters.

20. Fav fic you've ever written?

God, I have no idea. I love so many of my works and each one represents something. The Demon Piper is the fic that got me back into writing at all so that's super special to me. Bring Me Home is the one that got me writing for the DPxDC fandom. An Evening In was my first attempt at smut and I am so happy with how it turned out (never thought I could do it). I'll Carry Your Heart (Until I Find You Again) has a premise I'm absolutely in love with and I have so many plans for it. Want to Hold on and Feel I Belong is proof of how much I love emotional breakdowns and I love how much of a punch it packs. Remember, Remember is my first time writing an introspective piece that covers a long time period and I think it works really well.

I am currently sitting at 120,790 words.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Danny Phantom, almost exclusively. There's been a handful of other fandoms in the past, but they never went anywhere.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Language of Stars - Danny can speak the same language that stars speak, and created a written language for it. Unfortunately, he forgets to translate his homework.

Our Death Was The Start (Til Death Do Us Part) - DPxDC dead on main fic. Jason and Danny die at the same time, and through some complicated soul stuff, they end up tied together. (It's in indefinite hiatus.)

How Ghosts Mature (And Why Danny Is An Exception) - Ghosts normally take a very long time to get to a level even comparable to what Danny starts as. The ghosts don't realize this until much, much later.

Ill Prepared - Maddie, Jack, and Danny go on a camping trip hunting yetis. They brought plenty of ghost hunting gear, but not the camping stuff, and especially not the stuff they need to survive a blizzard.

I've Grown A Mouth So Sharp And Cruel (It's All That I Can Give To You)-My patrol partners fic with @stealingyourbones. DPxDC. Jason cracks his helmet during a routine fight, suffering a concussion in the process. Surely, the weird things that are happening are just because of said concussion.

5. Do you respond to comments?

If I have something to say, yes. If I don't have something to say, no. I appreciate all of them of course, but some comments just. Don't give me space to say anything, and that's fine.

6. What is the fic your wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hm. Probably Weapons Training simply by the nature o the whole fic. It's one I'm very proud of.

7. Whats the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

A lot of the things that I write are fluffy one shots, so this is a difficult question to answer. Pretty much all of them.

Nope, never!

If you are someone I know personally. No. I do not. Otherwise. Nothing posted yet, but there's some things in the works.

Yes I do! And it's actually my magnum opus: All Systems Green, my Kermit the Frog/Siri (from the Iphone) fic. where Kermit is an alcoholic.

Evil question. But probably gray ghost, pitch pearl, and everlasting trio.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Our Death Was The Start (Til Death Do Us Part). I really do like the idea, but I've largely lost interest in it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm very good at coming up with ideas. I can get myself out of plot holes quickly, and can have new things fleshed out pretty quickly.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Finishing things. Can't do it. Never finished anything over 10k literally ever.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think its fine? I don't think that it should be whole conversations, and I think if its going to be a language you don't actually speak you should should triple check what it would be.

Blue Exorcist. The fics are still up on fanfic.net, but not on my ao3. They aren't good!

Hm. I really like Strengths of the Past and Weights of the Present. I think it was my first gray ghost fic?

3. What fandoms do you write for?

So far, all my published fics are for Danny Phantom. It's a fandom that's near and dear to my heart and my favorite to write for. I've written fanfiction for myself in a lot of different fandoms over the years. Miraculous Ladybug, Mega Man (Star Force, Battle Network) and Fire Emblem are a few. (Will these ever see the light of day? Probs not, lol)

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 5. Frayed Ends - 37 kudos - Jazz and Maddie are fighting more often. Jack wants to reach out and help his family. 4. The Same Blood - 45 kudos - Maddie and Jack try to help a sick girl that collapsed in front of their house. They don't know what to make of her condition. Danny wants to help.

3. Returned Home - 49 kudos - Maddie finds Danny at home after he disappeared ten months ago.

2. The Broken Pieces Left Behind - 66 kudos (tie) - Maddie knew what the portal did to Danny. If she could create something that essentially turned him into a ghost, she could figure out a way to fix all of it. Even if she hasn't made any progress in the past two months, she'll keep trying. She didn't account for what Danny wanted. 1 . What's Out of Out Control - 66 kudos (tie) - Danny thought he had it under control. He thought he could finally hang out like they used to always do. Tucker could feel the rift between them widening. It wasn't getting smaller anytime soon.

5. Do you respond to comments?

I try to! There were a few comments from my two earlier fics that I never responded to and it's already been so long and I feel like I ended up putting it off too long to say anything now 😓But I'm so so thankful for all the comments I receive! I never thought anyone would read my work, let alone comment on it. I'm always between two modes of 'author commentary' and 'screaming thank you and running away'.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Lol, I love my angsty stuff and there are so many different flavors of angst, so it's hard to pick just one. I'd say the piece I aimed to write for Angst Fest, The Broken Pieces Left Behind, might be it. It ends on a rather hopeless note for the Fenton family that even I don't know how to make everything better for them

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably Home for a Cat. It was for a Ectoberhaunt prompt that I was absolutely stumped on. So I decided someone was going to adopt a cat by the end of the fic.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Ahh, so I actually posted a fic on FFN wayyy back when I was in high school. I remember it being received pretty well but I got a really rude comment on a simple spelling mistake. Back then, I was just told I had dyslexia a few years prior and I had some really bad self-esteem issues tied in with that. So, yeah, that comment basically made me terrified to ever show my work to anyone ever.

It's been over ten years since then and I wanted to actually get over that fear. I impulsively decided to do Angst Fest with the mindset that no one would even look at what I posted. Not only did people look, everyone has been so kind!!!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

lkdajldkf, nope. I get flustered trying to write basic romance and having two characters hold hands, lmao. Major props to those that can, it's definitely a skill that takes time to master just like any other genre.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I haven't.

Nope, but it seems like a lot of fun.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Back when the show was airing, Amethyst Ocean (Danny/Sam) was my go to. I'm a sucker for friends to lovers tropes and it's really nostalgic for me. But, I don't really read a lot of shippy things for Danny Phantom, so ships don't make or break a fic for me.

If I'm looking to read romance, the whole Love Square (MariChat my beloved) with Miraculous Ladybug will always be great. Even if I jumped ship on the show around season 2 or 3 and I have no clue what they're doing now, lol.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I honestly have so many WIPs that are unfinished on my computer from over the years. Maybe a super old one that I titled 'Phantoms in the Daylight'. Angst once more with Character Death as the main pain point. I like the beginning but oh boy, does it get sloppy and confusing real quick. I'd need serious outlining energy put into it if I'd ever want to salvage it and I just don't have it in me.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue! Give me two blorbos and I'll make them talk forever.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Scenery and description. I love the dialogue portion so much that I end up running into the floating heads in an empty room problem in the first drafts of my fics. My first round of edits are dedicated to making sure I have a scene and grounding characters into it. And then I have to go back later to make it not feel so robotic sounding.

(Also a weakness but more as in fic than writing. Summaries and Titles. I stare at my drafts on AO3's editor for at least half an hour trying to pull something together, lol)

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I can probably talk about this for hours, lol. I absolutely love foreign languages, especially when it comes to linguistics. So, I'll try to be brief, lmao. Short answer: depends on the fic but normally no. I already spend so much time fussing over the word choice/slang/formality/dialect characters use in my native language. I don't have a good enough grasp on another language for it to sound natural to the reader. ("They would not fucking say that" is my internal monologue during dialogue edits, lol)

19. First fandom you wrote for?

It's a toss up between Pokemon and Danny Phantom. I first learned about fanfiction from a friend who showed me FFN for the Pokemon fics. I looked around the site and found all of the Danny Phantom fics soon after and got hooked on those. I started writing around then and it would have been for one of those two.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Hard to chose one! Writing technicality wise, I'm proud of how What Remains on the Table turned out. I consider description my weak point, so the original draft was 0 dialogue with very stiff descriptions. I was able to edit it to really practice my environmental storytelling. (Although, please mind the tags if you click the link as it does deal with the dissection topic)
