thinking about..
bf!seeun is the type who facetimes you out of nowhere, immedietly showering you with compliments about how pretty you are, making sure you already ate that day.
bf!seeun is someone who just can't stop themselves from buying things for their partner, so this is why one day you go over to his place, seeing that it's overflowed with presents and sweets all just for you. Hey baby, look what I got you here!
bf!seeun who sometimes sings you lullibies to help you sleep better because he can feel you toss and turn in the bed.
bf!seeun who can't stop taking candid pictures of you. everytime you take a look at him you see him taking pictures of you and your smile, seeing that his wallpaper is immedietly changed to the newest photo.
bf!seeun calls you about a bunch of things whenever he needs to decide what to do. shopping with sumin and yujun and those three can't decide what to buy? you're the one telling them. trying to decide if he should work out or play with hunter? you're the one telling him to go and rest, but he only smiles and hangs up the phone.
bf!seeun who doesn't mind when he has to take care of you when you are sick. doesn't matter how much you resist, he only sticks to your side more and more, making time to treat you and your sore throat with home mode (by his mum) soups and dishes.
bf!seeun who practically rolls over your body whenever he wants to get out of bed, not having enough energy to normally get up from his position and do it normally. he's weird but you love him
SLIGHT NSFW
bf!seeun who almost lost his mind the first time he saw you in his clothes. his body on fire as soon as his eyes notices your tighs peaking out from the big shirt he gave you, feeling like a pervert as he's staring at you for so long.
bf!seeun who actually feels like a pervert when he even watches you dress up in the morning. he doesn't want to, he just happened to catch a glampse of you changing in his bathroom, with open doors, so he had to...make sure everything is alright.
bf!seeun whose hands are always on your waist when making out, can't contain himself from touching your body somehow. "No no no, stay close to me. Please."
bf!seeun is the type who bites your lip while kissing you, getting lost in the feeling of your lips on his.
bf!seeun is the type who holds eye contact no matter what, keeping his eyes only on you. he's sitting across the table and you're blushing from his stare? he only wants to keep looking at you to see you flustered by him.
bf!seeun is the type who gets easily jealous when he sees you with another member. he feels his skin get irritated by only looking at you laughing with one of his hyungs, then later that day he shows you how important you are to him in his own way.
bf!seeun is someone who kisses you out of anger when arguing. he can't stop himself from pulling you closer to his body and kiss away all the pent up frustration you two have. you always forgive him.

important!: this is pure fiction, the act in this story is by my imagination and not based off true events. please do not copy the work.
a/n: i'm so sorry for the delay of this one too, I'm trying to keep up with the things i have to write, but i had to manage things in real life too.

You basically like any crap shoved into the games and class it as peak writing, even if the same issues from the comics appear in the games XD It's too funny. You shat on Gens remaster but have since changed your mind that it's ok because the games are so pure. You're opinions are invalid XD
>You basically like any crap shoved into the games
pretty much
Tumblr media
That's because when the games do it it's actually done well. Because Sonic Team are competent talented creatives who know how to craft enjoyable pieces of fiction.
You are falling into the trap that all Sonic Comic Fans are stuck in, which is that they are appraising the PREMISE of the comic and acting like it's automatically good based entirely off of that. They look at the PREMISE of the Metal Virus Arc, and go "ohhhh that's so DEEP and MATURE" but then don't actually do any literary analysis of the execution of the story as it is written. They just think the premise sounds cool and then stop using their brains.
The PREMISE actually doesn't matter. The premise is in fact the least important part about a story. What matters if how they pull it off. What they DO with the premise. What are the themes? How's the characterization? How internally consistent is the logic of the narrative? Is it an engaging piece of fiction for the audience?
The comic doesn't have any themes because the writers think themes are for 8th grade book reports. The characterization isn't even consistent with ITSELF let alone the video games it's supposed to be adapted from. There is NO internal logic to the narrative whatsoever. And it's fucking boring poorly paced plodding bullshit.
The video games have rich thematic nuance that can be dissected for hours. The characterization is always on point. The story always makes perfect sense on its own terms and with respect to the stories that preceded it. And it's always a fun roller coaster from beginning to end.
THAT'S the difference. The Sonic video games are made by ARTISTS who want to make COOL SHIT. The Sonic comics are made by IDIOTS who have NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK THEY'RE DOING.
I also don't remember changing my mind about the Generations remaster, I have no idea what yo'ure talking about.

Out of curiosity, could be either due to craft or sheer enjoyment, what are your top favourite books?
Okay lowkey I wrote this post & then tumblr ATE it so here it is a little late!! Rachel's All Time Favourite Books (in no particular order):
Cleanness - Garth Greenwell (litfic, ok but this is actually my fave book & today Garth Greenwell lowkey Acknowledged My Presence SOOOO!!! I've read this 4x since August, it's a craft masterpiece)
What Belongs to You - Garth Greenwell (litfic, the book that comes before Cleanness, I'm not as attached to it but it's still FANTASTIC)
A Hundred Lovers - Richie Hofmann (poetry, my fave poetry collection of all time, ALL my epigraphs come from here)
We Do What We Do in the Dark - Michelle Hart (litfic, AMAZINGGG character study & peak into relationship dynamics)
Big Shadow - Marta Balcewicz (litfic, one of my fave books of all time, FANTASTIC teen protagonist in this bildungsroman)
Physical - Andrew McMillan (poetry, AMAZING queer poetry, lots of epigraphs from here too)
Winter in Sokcho - Elisa Shua Desapin (litfic, probably the best start-to-finish narrative I've ever read in my whole life)
If An Egyptian Cannot Speak English - Noor Naga (litfic, THE BEST litfic ending I've ever read, it's UNEXPECTED and something to be STUDIED)
Undoing Hours - Selina Boan (poetry, I feel so grateful for this book as it really helped me reconnect to my Indigenous identity. I met Selina after a LIFE-CHANGING reading & chatted with her, & that conversation drove me to learn more about my family!)
Bitterblue - Kristen Cashore (YA fantasy, this is LITERARY FICTION TO ME I've re-read this like 6 times)
Six of Crows - Leigh Bardugo (YA fantasy, really fun ensemble cast, THE AUDIOBOOK SLAYS)
Intimations - Alexandra Kleeman (litfic short story collection, some of THE BEST short story collections, my work feels adjacent to this dare I say??)
The Marionettes - Katie Wismer (NA paranormal, this series is sooo tropey and fun like I CAN'T WAIT for the last book, I did like book 2 best but this is the first one & I loved it too!)
Demi-Gods - Eliza Robertson (litfic, this was my fave novel before Cleanness & Eliza is my fave writer & from my alma mater! Read my interview with her!)
Monkey Beach - Eden Robinson (litfic, I read this book in a DAY, it's the most impactful novel I've ever read, she's also from my alma mater!)
How to Pronounce Knife - Souvankham Thammavongsa (litfic short story collection, my fave short story collection OF ALL TIME I learned so MUCH about short stories from this!)
The Girls - Emma Cline (litfic, this was MY writing bible for so long lol, I actually ethically hate how this book treats real murders but Emma Cline is an incredible writer & the best parts of this book are the ones that don't casually repurpose history... I have thoughts...)
History of Wolves - Emily Fridlund (litfic, I need to re-read this NOW but wow, the first half of this is chilling...)
Past Lives, Future Bodies - K-Ming Chang (poetry, not sure if you can still buy this but this is one of THE best collections I own)
The Darkest Minds - Alexandra Bracken (YA dystopian, I love AB SOOO MUCH even now hehe, this was a childhood fave & Fostered is a ripoff so <3)

𝕷𝖊𝖆𝖗𝖓𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕿𝖔 𝕷𝖔𝖛𝖊 | 𝕹𝖊𝖜𝖙 𝕾𝖈𝖆𝖒𝖆𝖓𝖉𝖊𝖗
Tumblr media
Chapter One | Sweden
Summary: Several months after sharing a longing, intimate moment with your boss, Newt, you find yourself in the heart of a thrilling adventure.
Will chasing smugglers, taming dragons, and awkward family dinners be the key to pushing the two of you closer?
Author's Note: Here is the long awaited, long requested sequel to my fiction "Stumped"! Please, to all those who had previously enjoyed the story and requested this, accept my sincerest apologies.
I never knew how to continue the plotline until now. Rest assured, this multi-chapter fic will have everything you could ever desire! Depending on how this goes, I may change the rating. (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
Disclaimer: I have made this work non-compliant with canon for several reasons. Including a) lack of desire to be associated with films 2 & 3, b) for flow and story purposes, and c) because I do not condone J.K.R's behavior and wish to use my writing to bring joy despite the hurt she has caused.
Ao3 - General Audience Word Count: 1099 Warnings: None
"And so it was that you were left to sketch and think. It seemed that Newt was not the only one in a predicament, as confusion too clouded your mind. You were stumped. Stumped as to why Newt had seemed so pleased with your staring, why his smiling never ceased, and why he had chosen to keep you in his company after that. " - Stumped (2020)
/////
The air was hot, the wind scorching, and no relief could be found in any amount of water you carried. Despite the great altitude, no snow decorated the cliff faces and mountain peaks. Each breath only served to fuel coughing fits, what with the dryness and heavy musk of dragon. By all accounts, the world should have been covered in white, howling winds should have whipped ice across the craggy stone, and you definitely shouldn’t have been in a simple blouse and trousers.
Yet, here you were. Wand drawn and a thin cloth covering your mouth, without any form of elemental protection. You’d always imagined your first trip to Sweden would be for recreation. Though, you supposed, searching for a smuggled Swedish Short-snout hatchling was more exciting than an office job at the Ministry.
“How are you fairing, darling?” A smooth, strong voice called to you.
You looked up at the man, watching him clamber up another outcropping of rock. Newt was in as much a state of discomfort as you were. His once voluminous curls fell, soaked with sweat, into his face, his shirt sleeves were rolled up above his elbow, and the cloth he held to his face was grimy. However, there was a crinkle at the corner of his eye that told you just how much he was enjoying this. You couldn’t help but return his smile though he couldn’t see it.
“Perfectly content, Mr. Scamander! I only wonder at the heat, it is unexpected!” You tried your best to keep your voice level.
“She must be in distress,” He took a moment to catch his breath. “I haven’t seen any blue flames yet, so she is still a good way up.”
“I suppose she’s turned much of the mountain side up there black.” You caught up with him and leaned on him for support.
“And any foliage to ash,” There was a fondness in his voice. “It’s likely how she escaped her captors to begin with. Many smugglers are unprepared for the heat of a Short-snout’s fire.”
You nodded and flicked your wand. The charm was quick to take effect, cooling both of you instantly. You would not risk cleansing your attire or casting a verbal spell here. The sweat and dragon musk clung to your clothing like a natural camouflage. It would be hard for the dragon to detect you, much less so if you kept your spell-casting to a minimum.
Newt thanked you once he’d finished taking a sip of water. The synthetic waterskin was enchanted to keep its contents cool and permanently full. He offered it to you shyly, bumping it against your hand gently.
“Drink.” His voice was soft, gentle. He wouldn’t command you to drink against your will, but there was a heavy tone of suggestion there nonetheless. It was your turn to thank him.
You took the waterskin, careful not to let your touch linger too long. Ever since that day in the suitcase, when your eyes had met and the world slowed to a stop, things had been different. Awkward. It never hindered your work, never interfered with your capabilities in tending to and drawing Mr. Scamander’s creatures, but it was always there. For you, anyway. It didn’t seem as though Newt understood how wholly that moment changed things for you. He was too sweet, too gentlemanly, to think of it as anything other than a moment between friends.
“Try to keep up, Mr. Scamander.” You forged ahead, unable to stand beside him for longer than was necessary.
Eventually, your trek up the mountainside proved fruitful. Newt once again led the way up. The heat only worsened, but that was to be expected when the stone underfoot was blackened and cracked. Any plants that may have grown from crevices in the rock were turned into small piles of ash, blown about by the wind. Which, as it happened, was not wind at all. The second thing to catch the eye of one Mr. Newt Scamander, was the flurry of movement from above. He placed his hand out behind him, palm facing you, and brought a finger to his lips. Then he pointed up.
Above, on an outcropping of stone, giant wings beat the air and battered against the rocks. Occasionally, chunks of char and sediment were flung down or broke off. The sound of the dragon’s beating wings paired with the gusts of wind against your skin. You had not been listening to the rage of mother nature. Instead, it had been the hatchling. With a look of concern, Newt pulled out two sets of thick, rubbery gloves and black, sturdy goggles. No words were exchanged as each of you donned the new accessories. The fire-resistant material felt strange against the skin, but otherwise did not offer much inconvenience. Just as Newt turned to lead you up to the outcropping, a massive chain swung down. It rattled evilly, smacking down across several sharp protrusions, and barely missed the Magizoologist.
Newt pressed himself flush with the mountain and tugged you with him. “Careful! She must have tangled herself up when landing.”
The chain rose up through the air once more and now it was obvious that with each attempt at flight, the flapping was accompanied by rattling and creaking. Before, you had watched the pretty, pale creature take off into the sky but now she was grounded. A plume of searing blue flame spread out and up into the sky. The smell of burnt hair caused your stomach to twist.
Looking to the man currently under the employment of the ‘Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau’ you began, “Mr. Scamander–”
He said your name, “It’s Newt. Please. Newt is far shorter and works best in cases such as these.”
You started again, “Merlin’s beard! Alright, Newt. How do you propose we get up there?”
“It’s far too dangerous to go up now, she’ll knock us off or roast us.” He chuckled lightly. “But it’s too dangerous to leave her up there alone. Those chains have to come off.”
“How do you calm a Swedish Short-snout?” You leaned closer to him as another, smaller chain whips by.
"You know," He looked at you. "I am not entirely sure."

Hm is it even good to like Tsukasa? Or ship him?
Why am I getting so many controversial asks today😭 No hate to you ofc, I just think it’s funny. I’ve talked abt SA/incest, problematic ships, and now I’m about to talk abt the ethics of liking villain characters. I guess I should thank you guys bcuz I did say I liked talking abt more complex subjects…
Yes it is completely fine to like Tsukasa, I’m surprised I even have to say this. People have about a million reasons for liking villain characters, watch any interview of an actor playing an evil role and you’ll see them passionately talk about how fun it is. Tsukasa is not a real person and therefore none of his crimes are real, he hasn’t hurt anybody and he is incapable of ever causing any real harm because he does not exist. A person’s taste in fictional characters should never be used as an indication of their real life morals, the only people who think otherwise are people who actively engage in fandoms and have therefore lost touch of the way normal people consume fictional content (aka people like me but I try to stay grounded in reality)
Personally I love characters that are morally reprehensible. Even with characters that are morally good, I tend to be fascinated by their flaws (ex: Kou and Nene). I like Tsukasa because he causes conflict, which gives the story a plot. If he weren’t there things wouldn’t be as interesting. He’s actually my favorite Yugi twin, he’s very entertaining to read about. I love how he just does shit to mess with people, he’s so creepy (affectionate). Characters that do really bad things are fun to analyze, they help us conceptualize certain behaviors without glorifying any real life perpetrators of those crimes. The majority of the time, there is more to characters than their worst behaviors, and fans may like them for other reasons as well
As for the shipping, no there’s nothing wrong with shipping Tsukasa with other characters. I know the fandom as a whole disagrees with this but those takes lack a lot of nuance. What if people are shipping him with characters he hasn’t hurt??? Or shipping him in AUs where he’s more chill??? Also keep in mind that the rhetoric of “mentally ill people shouldn’t date because they’ll hurt someone” is used to oppress mentally ill individuals irl, particularly people with personality disorders. Everyone is capable of growing and changing if they choose to do so
Even if you think it’s problematic to ship Tsukasa, it’s weird to assume everyone who does so is a terrible person. It’s even weirder to assume that simply liking him makes you a bad person
Idk sorry I’m getting so heated about this, none of this is aimed at you specifically. This is just a really important issue to me, it disturbs me to see so many people conflating fictional killers/abusers to human beings. It is the peak of chronically online behavior and I hope to see it dead in a ditch someday. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon…

I can't believe it's almost been a year since AW2 was released. It really changed my life. For better or for worse? Who can say, but I've been having fun.
lol it's so surreal to me that it's been less than a year that I bought and played Alan Wake 2 (one month past release, in November) purely on a whim because I saw people on the silent hill subreddit talking about it and someone even made a meme about "friendship ended with silent hill now alan wake is my new best friend" and I kid you not within just a few days my life just...changed entirely.
I have a lot of depression and anxiety and somewhere in 2023 things just...went wrong and I stopped creating. stopped giffing, never thought I'd write again and drawing lmao forget it, that shit's been hard for me to do ever since a very discouraging experience back when I was maybe like, 11 or 12. stopped going on tumblr, had given up on discord a long time before then and became a miserable ghost doing nothing but burying myself in work in what i will admit is a toxic, overwhelming and stressful environment. I still played games, still watched shows but nothing was like. Sticking with me, I guess? Not like to obsession levels and minus some good vacations I was just...empty.
And playing Alan Wake 2 for the first time was a legit terrifying experience for me--not on the levels of the first time I played Silent Hill 2 maybe (legit locked myself in my room and put on my lamp in the middle of the day cause of the sound of footsteps behind me in that game lol and my dishwasher at the time sounded like that one chugging sound in the apartments) but the dread I was feeling as I got legitimately lost in the woods of Cauldron Lake and turned around in Coffee World (having basically explored it all before triggering the parts where the enemies spawn in) and the basement of Valhalla Nursing Home was thrilling and I was excited to be playing something that was so disturbing and mind bending and emotional, too. Not even knowing the story of Alan and Alice, my heart broke during Alice's final tape. Not knowing Alan's character outside of what I saw in the second game, his "fuck it" moment where he went back into the Dark Place felt so heroic. I felt an odd sense of nostalgia watching the Koskela brothers commercials, like I had known them my whole life. Alex Casey (both the FBI agent and fictional detective) is my favorite kind of wise-cracking guy who has a heart of gold, the old guy who I wish could be my dad. Tom Zane was that mysterious wild card that you know under the surface has something sinister, unsettling esp with his manipulation of Alan but is just so fascinating to watch. Of course I saw so much of my obsessive self in Rose with her shrine for Alan. Saga's time in the dark place felt so real to me, I cried and still cry every time I read that note from her mom at that part of the game (I know you can read it sooner but it packs a bigger punch with Saga's fight to get out of her own mind.) All of the characters quickly stole my heart and ran with it and maybe it was over a few days, maybe it was all at once the floodgates just...opened within me.
I started writing again. First with a character that I never thought I'd write for again because at the time, even just thinking about him legit hurt me. Then I started scheming up fics for Alan. Then I started giffing even from self-captured gameplay footage that I don't think I've ever done before. Then I started drawing in my Alan Wake journal--a journal which, I had not done since the peak of my CSI obsession during my teenage years and even then it wasn't to the extent of what that journal is now (which admittedly, has not been filled out in quite a number of weeks and maybe that's partially cause I tend to journalize myself on here too) And then one day I couldn't contain it anymore. I started sharing again. I don't talk to anybody really like, ever outside of these asks and occasional replies but I truly never thought I'd be part of a fandom again. I worried I'd fuck it all up again (still worry about that) for myself, or others. Or both. But all the kind messages, the kind tags, the awesome people I've started following because of Alan Wake, I wouldn't give any of that up.
And of course things branched off, crushing so hard on him I got obsessed with Ilkka. I played some of Remedy's other games (still working my way through Max Payne 2 and Quantum Break very very slowly) and went back to the first Alan Wake, of course which if I had known about earlier or had an Xbox I'm sure I would have loved it back then as much as I do now. Hell I even platinumed that and Alan Wake 2 and as someone who is notorious for not finishing games other than like. The Legend of Zelda series and playing some other endless games...think it says something that I've managed to beat and complete (I always do the rhymes, stashes, lunch boxes, every playthrough) Alan Wake 2 almost 10 times now.
I was happy. I'm still, for the most part when I'm not at work, happy. Call it what you want, a delusion brought on by a distraction of obsession, a dangerous escape threatening the part of me that is still rooted in reality in the way that like, what if I become too crazy about it where it blinds me to certain things or experiences or chases people away from me because I'm too weird about it (a very real thing that has happened before)
But damn with all of that...I'm having fun with it too.

31, 33, 34, 49, and 50 for the pjsk ask game :3
31. Favorite event?
Oh man this changes All The Time… for non mixed events it’s probably a tie btwn it’s on wonder halloween/smile of a dreamer/OHE but I feel like once I get more caught up or have to reread an event for analysis my mind will change again
33. Favorite mixed unit event?
Let’s Study Hard is so peak... Incredible mizuki and an moments. Mizuki/Rui enjoying themselves at school. Akito is in hell (always funny). Toya consistently being hysterical. All the card stories are fantastic. Tsukasa fail moment. Nene is even there for a little bit. Kamiyama crew my beloveds.
Special shout-out to doll festival (tenmas my beloveds) & pandemonium (self explanatory) which are also favorites
34.Mixed event lineup you want?
+ I want an emu/tsukasa/minori/saki/kanade event so badly… I think putting kanade in an event with 4 people who genuinely do not have an off switch is the funniest idea ever.
+ I also really want an event with the leaders.
+ an emu/airi/mizuki/Luka/saki event (pink gang)
+ or a toya/shiho/nene/kanade/niigo kaito event where there’s like. 3 words said. They all just Vibe.
+ an event with tsukasa/shizuku/an/akito (+ any other character who is competent just not like. Academically.) where they have to do a trivia competition or some other intellectual event & it’s shaking up to be a huge flop but they all pull through with their different areas of knowledge
+ event with a bunch of random characters but NOT tsukasa. and they all meet amami seiichi but have zero idea who he is. Tsukasa hears about this and dies inside.
+ siblings event…
49. a hc that came out of nowhere and has no basis in canon but it's ingrained into your understanding/portrayal of the character?
Mostly inconsequential hcs here & if any of them are contradicted in canon uhh no they aren’t </3
+ Rui on ssris is both incredibly inconsequential and also canon. To me.
+ Emu and Tsukasa both have adhd but Emu is unmedicated (& doesn’t really need to be she has systems that work)
+ rui sleeps curled up like a cat, Tsukasa sleeps sprawled out like a star fish, emu clings onto whatever’s closest when she sleeps, and nene sleeps on her back with her arms folded over her chest like a corpse.
+ I saw someone say they had the hc that tsukasa chose his room because he likes to see/hear that other people are home and that stuck with me
+ emu is scary capable of starting a long conversation with anyone like she’s incredibly good at figuring out what you’re interested in/can ramble about and asking you questions about it. This actually has basis in canon but I like to remind people.
+ I think I’ve talked abt it on here before but I think tsukasa having a fictional character crush on the normal virtual singer kaito when he was younger & not realizing it is an incredibly funny idea. He’s like “yeah idk why I just used to really like the character. Whatever (doesn’t analyze this further even when the wxs sekai manifests).” Wxs Kaito knows this but he’s not saying shit because it’s not relevant anymore but it DOES make him side eye tsukasa incredibly hard whenever tsukasa is like “these must be normal best friend feelings I’m feeling towards rui.”
+ technically rin and len being twins is a head canon but I’m sorry that’s so stupid they’re twins to me
+ nene experiences gamer rage. Wxs operate under the assumption that she doesn’t really get Super Angry until they’re at her house and see her die to a boss in a fromsoft game/fail a platforming section for the 30th time and she’s Seething.
+ mmj could survive if they got stranded in the wilderness. Would they make it back to civilization though? Only if they don’t trust shizuku with directions.
+ emu & mizuki fashion buddies… gestures at area convo where mizuki is like she seems like she has good taste. I also just want them to be closer friends.
+ rui listens to video essays/informational podcasts/documentaries while he works and this is (partially) how he’s gained so much knowledge about random topics
+ saki is capable of making the most intricate woven string bracelets of all time & will make them for her loved ones based on their interests.
+ shizuku can play “old people” games (mahjong, mancala, etc) scarily well… don’t play against her or you’ll lose…
50. A hot take?
I think I say my hot takes often & without any restraint so it’s hard to throw one out that I haven’t mentioned before uhh
+ fanbase has a misogyny problem. Who’s shocked (no one). Not even a hot take but I see a lot of people get mad when this is said like. please look up what an implicit bias is.
+ I don’t trust people who only talk about tsukasa with any character takes (including ones about tsukasa they straight up Do Not Get Him) because they’re incapable of viewing other characters outside of their relationship to him. I also don’t trust them in general & find them irritating. & this is coming from someone who talks abt him a lot.
+ you Need To Interact With The Canon Text because if you rely solely on how the fanbase portrays characters you’re going to walk away with the completely wrong characterization. Also the stories are good so you should really be doing that anyways.
+ actually very unhelpful and irritating to reduce female characters down to like one trait and then pretend you’re a fan of them bc 90% of the time the trait is wrong. Nene for example I see so many bad takes on because people think she’s a girl boss (???) 24/7 hater (??????) who never says anything nice about her friends (??????????)

ADVENTURE TIME - Raise The Sword
Tumblr media
"Changing is our normal state. Even if we're not changing on the outside we're changing on the inside constantly. There's some stuff about me that I've been ignoring for a long time. I'm afraid of that stuff. But it's part of who I am. As long as I know the shape of my soul, I'll be alright."
I'm glad this show was a part of my life. It really felt like I finished an unfinished chapter of my childhood. The show felt so surreal to little me. People made out of fire falling in love with people with flesh and bones, stretchy dog, talking computers, candy people, vampires, surreal magic, princess kidnappers- how was this show even allowed to be made. Cartoon Network never followed a proper sequence, little me thought. But I'm sure I couldn't even tell in my late teens which episode comes after the other. The show is absolutely banging with creativity, chaos and absolute mind bogglers. That's Adventure Time. A story of change and acceptance through hilarious mind bogglers and moments of absolute chaos.
I'm still heartbroken knowing that the show got cancelled and they had to rush the ending- leaving so many plotholes unexplored. They had this amazing setup, amazing build up that I'm absolutely sure they'd wrap up in a satisfying way but yes, acceptance. Happens. 10 whole seasons. Love poured in animation and story writing. The heart put in some of these episodes make you emotional. Episodes like The Bucket, Escape from Citadel, Breezy are absolute peaks of character development and story telling.
You can't forget these characters. Characters who got a millisecond worth of screen time are brought back, implemented into the story and wrapped up beautifully. James Backster comes to mind immediately when I say this. My favorite character turned out to be BMO and Finn after all.
I loved every second of Finn's character arc. Starting as an ingenuous hero of 13, beating up monsters with his best friend and brother, Jake- going on adventures with not a thought of the world. "I'll kill it, if it's evil." It was naive and fun to watch. But I love that the show went down a path to actually convince the viewers that childlike creativity isn't the only thing they have. One after another Finn is thrown into difficulties in life. How does our child hero react? He reacts in a very human way, like all of us. He's heartbroken, sometimes disheartened, hopeless and even obsessive. But in the end, he has a good heart. A really kind heart, capable of making bad decisions too. He's Finn the Human. What he solved with fists now he solves with understanding and care. The whole arc with FP, finding out his Father doesn't care for him anymore, losing his arm, fighting his abandonment issues head on, Fern- all of it is just absolutely beautiful. Who knew I'd get fond of a cartoon character whose face you can draw with 5 pencil strokes.
Finn and Jake's brotherly bond is something that brings me peace. This show put something so important yet neglected as a centerpiece of the show - platonic love. How beautiful is it to just care for a person and cherishing the bond you have. I love how happy this show has made me feel. I'm smiling even when I'm writing this. I'm sad that the show was over. I'm sad that it wasn't wrapped up properly the way it deserved to be and instead they just had to work with the constraints some higher up official put on them. But, I'm happy.
I was just watching old clips of Adventure Time, and I was in awe how much Finn's voice had changed. He's 13 when the show airs and 17 by the time it ends. The show really let him grow with the people around him instead of keeping him stuck in a certain age to please some part of the major audience. I'm glad they chose to tell a story.
Marceline's songs, Time Adventure, Come along with me will ring something in me every time I hear a glimpse of them. The old Tree House art in my desk will remind me of all the memories it holds. I still find it absurd how fictional characters can affect you in such a surreal way. Like they don't even exist. Why do you guys even have a long lasting effect?
Tumblr media
When I was watching AT, I made a list of all the episodes I loved. I finished an amazing episode and I noted it down. I looked back on that list and I'm glad I can't remember what half of them portrayed. I can dive right back in with hopes and excitement. I hope it stays right where I left it.

Faruzan: You know what, I think going back to the days of using physical books is a great thing for the Akademiya. In fact, some of my students from a couple of months ago didn't even know what a table of contents was. (shivers) It's simply ghastly to even recall, let alone think about it in depth.
Al-Haitham: (not looking up from his book) I don't know why you're here, but the answer is still no. If you want to see it in physical form, the rejection should be in your mailbox by now.
Faruzan: (petulantly) Hmph! If you won't sign over my funding, then at least pump some into literacy courses!
It's not a question of if Al-Haitham can be bribed or not, but rather if he cares enough to see the results of whatever's being proposed.
---
Kaveh: (fuming) You know, I really can't stand him! He's always saying the most ridiculous things and his ideas are just- (exhales deeply) It's almost enough to drive me mad . . .
Faruzan: (confused) And you two are . . . roommates?
Kaveh: (groans) Unfortunately.
Faruzan: (uncharacteristically speechless) Huh.
Oh my God, the two people she chewed out a few years ago are actually roommates.
---
Faruzan: (on a rant) -and then he had the audacity to say that the old was out! (scoffs) He even sent his little Haravatat friend the next day, as if my work wasn't foundational to both of their educations at large (shakes her head) The youth think they know just about everything nowadays, but there's still plenty to learn from the past.
Tighnari: (chuckles a bit) You really chewed them out, didn't you?
Faruzan: (assuringly) Oh no, it was a healthy conversation with the both of them! They were fine young students with brilliant minds and original rhetoric, but they still needed a bit of polishing at the time. You know, as all students do at that stage.
Tighnari: (nods) Completely understandable. It's a good thing for them to want to discuss their ideas and how they sound, but it ought to be done with a certain level of meticulousness.
Faruzan: (smiles) Speaking of students, how is your star pupil doing? Still studying and working hard?
Tighnari: (proudly) As is her standard.
Faruzan: (sighs wistfully) It's always refreshing to see someone so eager to learn . . .
If you know what I'm talking about, then you know what I'm talking about. (Faruzan: Character Story 2, Character Story 3)
---
Faruzan, eying a homemade candy shop: It's certainly a surprise to see that this hasn't changed all that much, and all of the tools are still in peak condition! However, I must know if the cherry sours are better now . . .
Faruzan, walking down the street: I hardly recognize this place anymore. There used to be a pretty good eatery on this corner, but I guess it's long gone . . . wait, they removed the terrace but kept the tacky statue?!? Are they daft?
Faruzan, about some light novels: (indifferent) I do suppose there's something to be said about Inazuma's attempt to reach out into the cultural sphere, finally. Even if it is just pulp fiction.
Faruzan, about certain pulp fiction: (cringing) How is this still around? Did the newer generations abandon all sense of shame and dignity? Does the estate just not care how they're perceived by the public? Archons . . .
To say that the boomer in her wouldn't be thrilled at homemade candy shops still being a thing is simply sacrilege.

Something interesting about watching Utena AFTER already being a fan of a few Utena-like shows is how much less captivating the duels get after the first 12 episodes (peak fiction)
I have a lot of smaller complaints about the black rose arc that made it terrible to watch, but the repetitive entirely impersonal fights is a big one. Utena has no reason to fight the people she's fighting. THEY don't have a reason to fight Utena. And they don't ever make a point out of that like they almost do with the first black rose duel (Kanae being pitted against Anthy because somewhere way deep down in her mind she blames Anthy for her fiance not giving her any attention? Not knowing Anthy is a victim of Akio's herself? And a man in power uses that to further his own goals? Yeah there's A Point there, even if it doesn't come up for the rest of the arc)
I'm still only at the beginning of the next arc so I'm hoping it'll be better. It's at least got a bit more visual spectacle, but it is always. The same spectacle. The cars are cool but they don't even change color or models or anything, at least the black rose arc tables had character-relevant props on them? They've still not really got anything to do with Utena or Anthy. Utena still wins all the time because she Has To or else the plot won't work. It's too important for her to be the top duelist for her to lose. Except whenever eventually (hopefully) she has to lose for an emotional low point to happen.
Anyways back to my point uhhh GOD I MISS THE DUELS FROM REVUE STARLIGHT AND GUNDAM:THE WITCH FROM MERCURY
Vague spoilers for both btw (also I'm not claiming they're better shows overall, definitely not Revue Starlight as much as I love love love it, and Witch From Mercury is only really better for 1 season+a bit of season 2)
Revue Starlight doesn't make the stakes of the duels so high that the protagonist has to Always win, so I don't just entirely mentally check out of them for that. The conflicts are all personal and/or the occasional bigger picture setup (and then the movie's are all VERY personal). And they're not always between the protagonist and a side girl! And on top of that like. The fights in the show visually are exactly what you'd expect from "the guy who was mentored by Utena's director makes a show about magical girls who are all theatre kids". And the movie only gets more insane with it (those cars in Utena WISH they were Wagamama Highway). And having the actual characters both talking AND singing out their conflicts is always fun.
GWitch has a very similar setup with Suletta fighting people for the role of groom to the war robot school's principal's daughter. But also the dueling system has an added level of being how EVERYONE at school can settle conflicts and makes demands and bets on these duels between each other. Plus there's other emotional conflicts that go into it. It takes a while for Suletta to get used to this system and start acting on it herself and insighting duels for herself and her bride's and friends' sakes. And then when she gets too used to and comfortable with the duel system, the show turns and goes "this isn't how war works, loser" and the betting stops mattering to characters because they start ACTUALLY JUST FUCKING KILLING PEOPLE AND THERE'S TERRORIST ATTACKS AND POLITICAL CONFLICT AND EVERYTHING SUCKS FOR A WHILE BECAUSE WAR AND CLASSISM AND THE CYCLE OF SIN BAD. And Suletta now suddenly has to deal with THAT. And it doesn't stop there! More personal shit happens! God I wish the second season wasn't so rushed, it absolutely reeks of "this show was forced to be shorter than planned because it was openly gay". The first season was so perfect. Why did this happen. At least it got to have a full story, as butchered as it is...

Best comics by publisher:
I am bored and autistic and gay and so I've compiled an objectively subjective list of the 'best' books from each publisher. You're welcome, America.
IDW-honestly the current Star Trek run is phenomenal and we all love TMNT but I gotta give it to Atomic Robo.
Scout-Metal Shark Bro is so good that it honestly skewed my expectations for the entire publisher. They truthfully have two solid lines and the rest is an odd marketing campaign. The Black Caravan stuff was fun, though.
Boom!-SIKTC is undeniably amazing and 'We Only Find Them When They're Dead' is objectively top tier but for me, it's all about Coda. The art, the writing, the straight dude getting dunked on by his orc paladin wife-perfection. The first issue of the continuation just dropped and reading it was like returning home.
Ahoy!-Penultiman is pretty good but I think 'The Wrong Earth' is clearly their best title.
Valiant-hear me out, hear me out. I've collected ALL of Valiant's reboot, 2012-present. Unfortunately I must report that peak Valiant is X-O Manowar: Retribution. 1993 was a good year for whacky sci-fi comics. There is a scene wherein Aric of Darcia proclaims:"he must be like those men who prefer other men. I do not understand these men; but damn, do they make the best wizards!" That's peak fiction.
Dark Horse-look Hellboy is great. It's so good that I almost gave it to Mike Mignolia just on merit and industry influence alone. Unfortunately, Jeff Lemire exists. Black Hammer is perfect in every way. MIND MGMT was a strong second.
Image-Astro City. The characters are deep, emotional beings. Their stories breathe in the most human way. Most other titles conflate grit with maturity while AC makes you feel without several arcs of trauma porn. Also, im happy to see creators who remember that comic books are the home of wackiness. Its a slice of life hero series-10/10. Also Alex Ross. This (image) was annoying to choose because-despite suffering the unforgivable scourge of Robert Kirkman- Image has so many other good titles. Bitch Planet, Savage Dragon and Spawn (obligatory, obvi), Rumble, Chew, Outer Darkness, Descender/Ascender, etc .. not to mention Radiant Black. I still want to give it to Saga. Due to all the confusion with inage/wildstorm/dc having some claim to Astro City I almost skipped it entirely which is a shame but, yeah-Astro City.
TKO Studios-honestly, I'm not sure that this company is still kickin'. They were a fun little experiment though, with several enjoyable titles. I can't say any of them really blew me away. But, if I had to pick a 'best' I'd give it to 'Sentient'. Jeff Lemire can do no wrong.
AWA-they're too new for a selection to have any real meaning but 'The Resistance' is pretty good. It's been a couple years and I hope they produce something else that's quality because E-Ratic was a pretty big let down.
D.C.-Crisis on Infinite Earths. It's a given. There is something to be said about the cultural impact of Crisis. Originally, 'crisis' stories were crossovers of varying stakes. The comic gods(Perez and Wolfman) changed the game with this one. Also, every Crisis story which follows was similarly silly and serious. The pseudo science wackiness and over the top theatrics gets me every time. No other comic company gets it right. D.C. has been getting progressively better and better these last couple years, especially now with the phenomenal 'Dawn of D.C.' stuff. But if I was stranded on an island and could only bring one D.C. title it would be Crisis. ('83 New Teen Titans is of course a strong second)
Oni Press- their Rick and Morty stuff was a guilty pleasure (because it's really quite good but that means I have to spend money on Rick and Morty) and 'The Sixth Gun' was well made. Regardless, their best title was clearly 'Pink Lemonade'. Its chaotic indie fun that doesn't make sense and doesn't have too.
Massive/Whatnot Inc: these guys are really new, started 2022 I think. Not really sold on them yet but one of their first titles, quested, was lots of fun. Pretty small selection so far but what they do have is quality. 'Best book' goes to Plot Holes. Not only did Sean Murphy give us the most tolerable Bruce Wayne, he also gave us this creative joyride. It's equal parts wacky and sincere and best of all, it's in the Murphy style. Even though its early on in the run it's one of those titles you look forward to. throughout the month.
Marvel-Marvel peaked in 1999 with Earth X. Don't get me wrong, I love a great deal of Marvel books. Al Ewing's Ultimates (NOT Bendis) was great. Personally, my favorite Avengers story was the Celestial Madonna saga of the sixties, but Waid's run was great(obvi) and Hickman's was too. Hickman's Xmen stuff...also happened. Cates and Jason aaron had good Thor runs. The first and last of Aaron's avenger arcs were great. Peter David's many 'Spider' runs were fun and Dan Slott sure does exist. The Sam Wilson cap runs were all phenomenal, especially the Symbol of Truth run-and Kelly Thompson's run on Carol was one of the best ever. Good Marvel books have been dwindling lately but Jed McKay's 'Avengers' is honestly one of the best books out there. Unfortunately, none of that good stuff comes close to Earth X. The prose, the thorough examination of human nature, the Alex Ross of it all. Earth X was an ode to Marvel lore which read better than most of Marvel history. 'Nuff said.

After thinking about it for a while I decided to open writing commissions. Since the picture is of course too little to include all the rules and info, I decided to put them under the cut. Make sure you read the rules before commissioning me and thank you in advance to anyone who will give it a shot<3.
Languages: Italian (L1), English (L2)
Payment: PayPal only
Contacts:
Discord: _.razu
Instagram: _.razumairon
Tumblr: razumairon
Twitter: LuxLuciis (I’m not very active tho)
Telegram: Razumairon
If none of this contacts should work for you, DM me and we will discuss it together<3
Rules and general info:
As an author, I claim the right to reject a commission if the themes make me too uncomfortable or similar reasons. I listed what I generally don’t write but of course there isn’t enough space for all the themes that make and may make me uncomfortable. I generally have few triggers when it’s about fiction but talking about your intentions for your story is always the best solution<3
I generally write narrative texts, but I’m willing to write other kinds of text if so desired. Keep in mind that some kinds may be too difficult for me because I lack the skills: for example, I highly doubt I’d be able to write a scientific text or a poem because I don’t know the rules of those kinds of texts. As usual, the best option is talking.
Since I don’t have the same level of skill in the languages I made my work available in, English texts will be half the price.
The number of words can either be established (i. e. we can decide together how many words you want for your text or a maximum of words you want your text to have) or left totally free (i. e. you can allow me to write how much I need for your text to be complete). In the first case, I kindly ask you to pay the first half of your total before I start the work and the other half after I send the work to you. In the second case, I kindly ask you to pay a deposit (which has yet to be defined) that of course will be deducted from the final price.
Texts will be delivered in any file format you need (if I’m able to): PDF, Google Documents, Word etc
I’ll try to deliver your text as soon as possible but please remember that, like you, I’m a person with their own life, so I’ll do my best but I won’t be always efficient when it’s about time<3
Please be available for questions about your story and character, so that I can do the work in the most accurate way<3
Feel free to correct me once I completed your text (or in the making, if possible) if the characters are OOC or you feel like some narrative changes need to be done (or any kind of change. I’m usually very good at grammar but I can still type wrong or make mistakes accidentally).
I won’t send the whole text before finishing it but feel completely free to ask for sneak peaks<3
At this point, allow me to include some demonstration of my skills. I'll leave some texts for you to read, both in Italian and English (though I wrote way less in English than Italian). Don't mind too much the fact that the texts will be mostly fantasy and mostly fanfiction, you can commission me any genre you want<3 those are just a demonstration:
Quendar's adoption (Legend of Drizzt fanfiction; english; unfinished)
Friarielli (JoJo's Bizarre Adventures fanfiction; Italian; finished)
La partenza di Ristorias Arnero (D&D characters OS [La Squadra inspired]; Italian; unfinished)
Come Ristorias incontrò i suoi uomini (D&D characters OS [La Squadra inspired]; Italian; unfinished)
L'inizio della fine (Dragon Age fanfiction; Italian; unfinished)
If you have questions, my DMs are open! Thank you for paying attention, can’t wait to work with you guys<3

One of the most interesting Twitter post Kishimoto put out was that he wasn’t entirely happy with how Frontiers story fully panned out. Considering how different the ENG and JAP scripts are that makes sense. He says he going to work to improve it in future game. I wonder if Eggman will get affected by this.
Yup and with that, now both Flynn and Kishimoto have said exactly what I've been saying but got major backlash for as fans didn't like my interpretations of Flynn's writing in English, and didn't like the ways I criticized the story and character "development" in general as I felt it wasn't handled or delved into well enough overall. It's both very vindicating and frustrating for that.
I completely agree with Kishimoto and I'm very glad he acknowledged that, unlike the fans acting like it's absolutely perfect untouchable "peak fiction" that's exempt from all criticism and that everyone that has complaints are just haters. I see a lot of issues not just with how they handled Eggman but also the plot beats and progression as a whole and other characters.
And the differences in the English and JP also makes it seem like there were very different ideas between writers on how to go about telling it in both, which makes it extremely divided and even completely changes the meanings and plot points in some scenes. They definitely need to fix and prevent that from happening again and come to an agreement of how to handle it.
As for Eggman as that's of course my main focus and specialty to comment on lol, while I'm happy my interpretation of the Maria memo and Eggman and Sage dynamic were confirmed to be the intentions, my criticisms of the parts that still feel OOC even with this in mind remains, along with how underutilized he was and just felt off and inconsistent for the first time in a game.
How they didn't go about making Eggman's reasonings for his side of the dynamic clear enough for fans to not be able to mistake it as being pure and wholesome instead of shallow, self-centered, and self praising as Flynn intended it to be, and how it was assumed the Maria thing was implying a tragic past for Eggman is a big problem. It should be absolutely blatantly clear.
I could personally see it as soon as I analyzed it closely to see that the Maria memo was coming from his usual entitled selfish egotistical perspective, and that the ways he praises Sage are shallow and also unsettling as Flynn put it, as Eggman praises her in a very self-centered and self praising way in the memos. But they didn't really go to the effort of making it especially clear.
It shouldn't have just been super clear in the Egg Memos where it's just a couple of lines of audio each. Not having any of it on screen in the actual scenes in the English version especially was a big problem. There would be a lot less misinterpretation if they'd gone out of their way to establish it in the actual scenes anywhere near as firmly, as even the memos are misunderstood too.
All the personal issues I have with Eggman's portrayal in the English version was done much better in JP. They have the same reasoning behind the Eggman and Sage dynamic but the JP handling feels much more faithful in some areas, so I prefer it overall. But the differences between the two make sense now, they have the same reasons but very different ways of showing it.
They really need to prevent the vast differences from happening again. I'm curious to see if and how it'd affect Eggman. I'd hope for his Eng and JP portrayal to be handled much more similarly. For example, make his side of the dynamic in the Egg Memos especially clear in the actual scenes. I think they could take notes from how it was handled in JP for that, while JP also further improves.

Hello, fanfic writer question, please. 1, 2, 9, 13, 40, 44, 58, 91. There were so many good ones! Thank you
I'm sorry for the delay in answering this! It was Easter and then I've been on holiday...
do you know how you want the story to end when you start, or are you just stumbling through the figurative wilderness hoping to find a road?
I never start writing unless I know the ending of the story. Like how the conclusions to essays should reflect the introduction, the ending of a story needs to be in the mind of the author from the beginning. But there might be quite a lot of wilderness in the middle I'm not sure about!
2. talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.”
Actually, that doesn't really happen to me a lot. Stories unfurl and sometimes develop in cool ways when I think of a new bit of plot or development, but the characters don't really do this... I guess a kind of example was with my teenage HP next generation sequel where after writing it for quite a long time I realised one of the main characters was gay and this made so much sense! It wasn't relevant in any way to the plot but I felt I understood Xanthia so much better and it wasn't something I consciously plotted out.
9 - already answered
13. talk about a writing experience that has pleasantly surprised you.
Back when I wrote Downton fic, my collaboration with Claire (@orangeshipper) was such a lovely experience. We were just so in tune with each other in terms of what we wanted to convey about Matthew and Mary and it helped us both develop our writing skills a lot. And we became proper IRL friends too. I can't really imagine having a writing partner like that again.
40. best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.
Ooh, I don't know about anything specific but I always loved the comments that a fellow M/M shipper EOlivet left on my fic. We ended up kind of falling out but I was always sorry about that - she gave the best feedback! And @wah-pah also writes amazing reviews and I always feel incredibly grateful if she reads what I've written.
44. any writing advice you want to share?
Uhhhhh I'm not sure I, a person who hasn't written in ages, can give anyone any advice! But I guess I would say that writing has to be what you want to do and whatever you do is okay. I've wasted my emotions and my energy feeling competitive about my writing which is stupid when writers should support each other, and I've also felt jealous of people who seem able to write all the time on top of other lives or who are able to prioritise it or manage to write 1000 words a day or whatever. We all have different lives. Right now, my life doesn't admit of me pursuing writing seriously. It's the wrong point. I do hope at some point that will change but it's okay that I am prioritising other things at the moment. So I guess my advice would be to take it easy and not beat yourself up if you're not writing as much as you want to or how you want to - and definitely don't compare yourself to others!
58. what is the last thing that a fic made you google when you were writing it?
Golly, no idea. I'm sorry! It's been so long...
91. how has your writing style changed over the years?
Tricky. I'd like to think it's improved but honestly I'm not sure it has. I think I peaked when I was doing my masters degree, now over 10 years ago. I was so immersed in reading and the analysis of fiction I was really conscious of how I was writing. I wrote Consolation Prize and a lot of University Challenge then. I think I've got better at writing stories set in the modern era since then and perhaps developed more of a style. But tbqh I think I was a better writer ten years ago and I find that really depressing and it puts me off writing again. :(
