I get not liking things— I dislike things all the time— but what I don’t get is when people preach about accepting cringe and cringe culture being dead and then turn around and be like ugh I fucking hate *insert fandom*
How do you not see the hypocrisy?? Ok so you didn’t use the word cringe but you’re still shitting on people’s enjoyment of something?? If you hate something so much that you feel the need to rant just critique the source material. But posting how much you hate a fandom does nothing productive.
And it’s especially frustrating when people wield the classic “well the source material is problematic.” Cool so is 90% of current media created. I bet it would take me five minutes to go through your account and point out a fandom you participate in with a problematic source material. This purity/morality thing going on in fandom is so frustrating because it’s like people miss the point of asking for media to be better in the future and instead turn on each other for liking things.
tldr: stop shitting on fandoms for being annoying bc you bitching is equally as annoying and more unproductive than someone enjoying a show
#this rant was fueled by the influx of hate i’ve seen for hazbin and helluva boss#as an artist i have a lot of mixed feelings on the show myself#and i think it deserves a lot of the genuine criticism it gets#but writing the show off as a problematic mess undermines a lot of the good it’s done#not getting into the plot bc that’s just a whole other huge conversation#but vizzie as a artist and creator is a big deal bc she did it#she made it#she proved you can make your own story from scratch and get it out there#and it’s a huge deal for the industry bc it’s proving that taking risks on new projects like this can be valuable#and if you care about the future of media in any capacity that’s important#txt
