Intimate//Wes/Lilly
forehead kisses
Wes knew he was staying the second Lilly mentioned things being different between them. It was the confirmation he needed that things had changed for her, too. Not just for him. But he still took another week to think everything over. Because things with her hadn’t been the only factor in leaving. Just a minor one. But she had said a lot of other things that stuck with him, too. She’d told him he didn’t have to figure anything out on his own. He had her. And he’d taken it in a romantic, emotional way at first, but reflecting on it, he knew she meant it in more ways than that. Before they’d been anything else, they were people who worked together. And worked together well. When they were feuding, when they were aligned, they always knew how to bring the best out of each other. The two of them were a team. Did he really want to work somewhere without his right-hand woman?
She’d also made a good point when she yelled at him about how he should have talked to her, because she could have helped. He still agreed with that now. Whatever match or story they got put into, they could figure it out. If he had her, he could deal with whatever got thrown at him. She’d make it tolerable.
It did also help that before he confirmed he wanted to stay with the company, Vince put a few great offers on the table. He happily snatched them all up. He’d just put his name on the dotted line that night, and now the only thing left to do was tell Lilly.
He found her just a few minutes after leaving the office, talking to Gabbi outside the women’s locker room. He stretched his arm out and tapped her shoulder from behind as he approached, making her looking back, but he was already passing by the other side of her. “Mind if I steal her for a sec?” he asked Gabbi, who smiled knowingly at Lilly and then turned to leave. He assumed the smile was at the two of them getting closer, and not about his contract stuff. If she knew that just moments after it happened, he’d be a little afraid of her mind.
“Guess what I did,” he said to Lilly once he had her alone. She raised her brows at him, but he didn’t give in yet. “Nah, come on, you gotta guess.” It probably wasn’t the time to play games when he was about to tell her something kind of major, but he couldn’t resist.
She rolled her eyes and replied with a sarcastic, “Solve word hunger?”
“Alright, that wasn’t a serious guess, but thank you for humoring me,” he grinned, hopping up onto a prop trunk against the wall. Hands resting on the edge of it, he leaned forward casually. “Signed my new contract today.” Her eyes lit up, her smile making his own smile widen. Damn, it was good to know he could make her look like that just by saying he was gonna stick around. “Is it a better contract now? More control or what you wanted out of it?”
He chuckled. Just like Lilly to go into business mode right away. “Yeah, yeah,” he nodded. “They were more willing to discuss things than I thought they’d be. Got more promo control now, first of all, thank God. Gonna let me pitch some stuff soon. The salary bonus didn’t hurt either. So dinner’s on me after the show.” He gave her a cheesy wink. “The absolute best for you tonight. Or whatever’s open at midnight, but you can get whatever you want.”
She laughed. “How about room service. Just us?“
“Your mind…” he started, reaching up to gently cup the back of her head. “Brilliant.” He leaned forward, pulling her in so he could press his lips to her forehead. “Room service on my bill then.”
The show wrapped for the night and that was exactly what they did. Went back to his room, and sat in bed together to eat the mini-feast they’d ordered - fries and strawberries and champagne for the both of them, and a chicken sandwich for him because he needed a meal. He was laying on his back in bed, on top of the covers but in his boxers already, not so subtly watching as she changed for bed. At this point, he didn’t think he needed to hide it.
As she got into the bed, he inched over, making more room for her - but the second she was actually in the bed, he moved right back over into her personal space, grabbing the side of her face in a gentle grasp as he kissed her. “Tell me you’re happy I’m staying,” he said, but not in a demanding tone. It was more of a question. Just wanting to hear it straight from her lips instead of reading the lines between implications.
“I’m happy,” she said with a smile. She was so unbelievably… soft, in this moment. And not just in her appearance, which was lacking make-up but as stunning as ever. It was that, but also her sweet voice, the way she pressed into him, the way her head tilted upwards just slightly to press her nose against his, that angelic smile on her face. “Are you happy to stay?” she asked him in return.
“Mhm,” he hummed in reply before brushing his lips against hers once more. “How could I not be?” His fingers moved through her hair, brushing it from her face, staring down at her with all the fondness in the world in his eyes. “I got everything I want here. I’d be a miserable son of a bitch if I left.”
"Mmm, good thing I’m not lactose intolerant. You’re being very cheesy tonight.”
Wes laughed, hand once again coming to her face, this time so he could playfully squeeze it, squishing up that cheesy grin she wore. “Hey, it’s been a couple of long, emotional weeks for me, okay?” he told her. “Done a lot of thinking, so it’s gonna be a cheeseball kinda night, alright?”
She put her hands over his, laughing along with him. "Should I have ordered mozzarella sticks or fondue?” She paused, a genuine smile on her lips. “Glad you’re on the other side of those weeks.” Another pause. “Would’ve been quicker if you’d talked to me sooner.”
He shook his head as she stuck her tongue out at him. “You’re a fucking comedian,” he teased, letting her face go and casually draping it across her waist. “I know I should have talked to you - and you don’t have to say it, I know, definitely should have said something to you and not Chris. I’m a dumbass, we can agree on that. But it worked out, yeah? You found out anyway, came to yell at me… Said some shit that kinda made my mind up for me, if I’m being honest.”
“Hmm?” she replied, pushing him for more.
Her fingertips trailing up and down his arms and shoulders definitely eased him of any nerves he may have had for this confession.
“You just reminded me that… I got you. Even when I’m not happy with how things are going, it’s never that bad, because you’re still right there with me. We can figure anything out together, make it better. And I don’t wanna go anywhere you aren’t, because I’m in love with you and nothing would be the same without you.”
“You’re only working this out now?” she remarked.
He scoffed playfully at her response to his heartfelt words. “No, the loving you part I’ve had figured out,” he told her. “It was you loving me back I wasn’t so sure about, smartass.”
“Hello?” she asked, fist raising to knock on his head. “The man I love seemingly doesn’t have a brain? How did this happen?”
Grabbing her wrist and holding onto it, he laughed. “You could just say you love me back like a normal person, you know,” he teased.
“And why would I act like a ‘normal person’?” she replied after a laugh. “I’m happier and smarter than normal people.” There was a long pause where he just stared at her, amused and endeared, but at the same time silently pleading her to spit it out. A moment later, she did. “I love you, too.”
Suddenly smug and wearing a smirk, he pulled her in by her waist, keeping her close. “I know,” he said before pressing his lips to hers.

20: For You Blue
*Virginia, The day before Thanksgiving 1996*
He pulled his rental car into the parking lot of the little strip mall in Alexandria and nervously shoved a couple pieces of gum in his mouth. The clock on the dashboard clicked over to 5:55 and he took the uniformity as a good enough omen to brave entering the record store.
The bells jingled happily above the door, intensifying his butterflies and her voice drifted from the back room. "Be right there!"
He darted to the Rock section, keeping his back to her when she emerged from the back room carrying a box of Christmas decorations. "Can I help you find anything?"
"Yeah, you guys have that new Goo Fighters yet?" he tried not to laugh as he stared up at a promo poster of him and the band from a photo shoot he didn't even remember being at.
"Foo Fighters or Goo Goo Dolls?" he could hear the twinge of irritation in her voice as she made her way over and turned to watch her flip through a stack of records. "The last Goo Goo Dolls was released a few years back, but the Foo Fighters..." she found his first album and held it up, gasping in shock when she finally looked at his face. "Goddamnit, David! You are such an asshole!" she cried.
"Happy to see you too, Annie," he laughed and dragged her to him, hugging her tightly and hoping he didn't have to let go.
"You cut your fucking hair!" she exclaimed, running her fingers through his chopped cut.
"Do you like it?"
"Um..." she wrinkled her nose a bit but giggled. "I think it's going to take some getting used to."
"Good enough," he decided, trying to hide his frown when she wiggled out of his arms. "Need help closing up?"
"Sure! You remember what to do?"
He nodded and let her take the cash tray in the back before moving behind the counter. Finding himself facing a wall covered in posters, pictures and other random memorabilia of his, he spotted a frame holding a collage of ticket stubs and pictures. Several Scream, Nirvana, and even two Foo Fighters stubs were positioned over pictures of Anna and her Dad, both of them happily smiling in front of the lit stage where Dave was performing. He heard Anna returning to the front and crouched to shut off the stereo.
"This is new," he said, tilting his head at the wall.
"Yeah, Dad's a big fan," she said simply and put the cash tray back in the register.
"I wish I would have known you were there..."
Anna leaned against the counter with a raised eyebrow, daring him to go on. He sensed her irritation and leaned against the wall, copying his cheesy grin on the poster behind him. "Can I take you to dinner?"
"I don't know, kitten," she replied with a half smile. "Can you?" Her eyes drifted to the silver band on his ring finger.
Fuck. He had meant to leave it in the car, but he had been too eager to see her. "As friends."
She snorted a laugh and tossed her keys at him, "Here, you drive. I just have to lock up."
Perfect. He hurried to her car and slipped into the driver's seat, pulling the demo tape from his pocket and shoving it into the car's stereo. He switched it to the CD player just as she hopped into the passenger seat with a bright smile. "So where are we going?"
*
"Sorry I couldn't make it to the west coast," she sighed and flopped onto the bar stool. "The holidays are just insane at work. Especially now that Clinton won again."
"Maybe you can come over in January," Dave replied, dragging a bar stool close to hers. He had taken her to a tiny dive bar that he and Jimmy frequented. It wasn't fancy, but he knew he wouldn't be recognized or bothered there.
She laughed a little and leaned her elbows on the bar. "I think I'm still hungover from your last birthday, David."
"Yeah, I think we both had a good time that night," he said quietly.
"So, how long are you here for?" she asked, trying to appear casual as she took her beer glass from the bartender, but he caught her smile.
"I have to be back in the studio January third."
Her eyebrows shot up as she took a drink. "That's a long break! Aren't you guys under a deadline?"
"Yeah," he sighed, "but the sessions are tougher than I thought they'd be."
"How so?"
"I don't know," he sighed and sat back in his chair. "It's so different than with Kurt and Krist or when it was just me and Barrett. Now these guys all look to me for direction and I have no idea how to give it without sounding like an asshole."
"Aren't you the one that writes all the songs?"
"Yeah, but..."
"They're just asking for guidance on how to play what's in your brain," she laughed and shook her head. "Your poor brain."
He stared at her profile, marveling at her obvious answer. That's exactly what he had done with Kurt when they recorded. His job was to interpret what was in Kurt's disaster of a mind and play the drums accordingly, why didn't he see it sooner? Between the divorce and the stress of the record, he felt in a fog. There hadn't been a neutral party around him in so long, someone that wasn't a band member or someone that didn't depend on him for a living and it was beginning to kill the pleasure in making music. Anna suddenly burst out laughing, covering her mouth with her hand.
"What's so funny?" He had forgotten how contagious her laugh was.
"Your fucking hair, David! Oh my god," she giggled.
They spent the rest of the evening sharing plates of fried bar food and beer, laughing about their younger days and talking about whatever was going on in their lives. Dave feigned ordering another beer at the rail so he could pay without her protesting, though he knew she saw right through him. She even leaned into him as they walked back to her car and he instinctively put his arm around her, wondering if maybe she would ask him to come home with her. Just as he was about to open her car door for her, he heard her stifle a laugh and felt her hand in his pocket, then she was gone in a breeze of giggles. He chased after her, catching her arm just as she made it to the driver's side door and pressed her into it. He held up the $20 she had shoved in his pocket before tucking it into her coat. She tried to glare, but couldn't keep a straight face.
"Sometimes I forget how much I miss you," she giggled.
"You should teach me how to forget cause I miss you all the fucking time."
*
Dave threw her car into park back at the record shop and sat back in the driver's seat. He wanted to talk to her more, just spend a little more time with her before they had to go their separate ways. Anna had held his hand all the way back from the bar, seemingly lost in her own head as she wasn't as talkative as usual.
"You okay?" he asked cautiously.
Her head snapped up and she forced a little smile. "Yes, just fine. Thanks for surprising me tonight. I had fun." Before he could reply, she was out of the car.
She reached out to brush her hand against his as they crossed paths in the beam of the headlights and quickly slid behind the steering wheel. He spun around and followed her, his heart in his throat knowing she was about to listen to his demo tape.
"Wait, Anna," he held the driver's side door open and leaned across her to switch the stereo from CD to tape. The tape clicked over and he knew he had exactly twelve seconds to say goodbye to her. "Can I call you tomorrow?"
"Of course," she nodded, confused by his behavior. "I'll be at my parent's all day."
"Great." He quickly kissed her forehead and shut the door, hearing the first riff of the song when he climbed into his own car.
Dave rolled his window down and watched her, knowing just by the look on her face that she was absorbing his words. She stared straight ahead at the circles her headlights made against the brick building, gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles. The song built and faded, then ended as she sat motionless. He began to fidget thinking she hated it, maybe she would think he was making fun of her, maybe he shouldn't have ever recorded the song when she finally appeared at his open window. Her face was neutral, maybe a little stunned when she took a breath.
"It's not even a word," she breathed.
He barked a laugh, that's what everyone said when they heard it for the first time. "Not unless you're leaving voicemails after half a rack of beer."
She gave him a forced smile and stepped back a little, "Will you come talk to me for a bit?"
"Yeah, sure," he said quietly, now totally convinced she hated the song. She was going to be so pissed when he told her it made it to the record.
Anna unlocked the record shop and the bells chimed loudly into the silence. She let him lock the door, putting distance between them as she hurried to the counter. They kept the lights off as the light from the back room was enough for them to see, but still hide any emotion they couldn't keep from their faces. Leaning her back against the counter, she faced him with a deadly serious voice. "How much of it is about me?"
"The song or the record?" he winced when her eyes went wide and she spun away from him to hide her face in her hands. "Just two songs, Anna," he lied.
"David!"
"Okay, fine. Four. Maybe five." It was six, but he wasn't about to tell her that now.
She took in a sharp breath and pushed off the counter, unable to look at him as she walked into the back. He found her in the stock room, sitting on an empty vinyl crate with her head in her hands.
"Anna..."
"No, David," she said sharply. "No."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Oh, I don't know," she snapped. "Not write about my personal life for public fucking consumption?"
"No one's going to know it's you," he insisted, sitting across from her on another crate.
"Bullshit!" she cried. "You don't think there aren't entire teams of journalists out there trying to dig up dirt on you?"
His stomach dropped. "Have they gotten to you?"
She only stared at him, her lips a thin line.
"You know, most girls would love to have a song written about them," he regretted his words as soon as he said them, but he didn't know what else to do.
"Oh, dear," she cooed sarcastically. "Am I not showing enough gratitude-"
"... Anna," he warned.
"- for having my love life broadcast all over the world? My apologies, oh great one... Have I angered the mighty rock god? Was a virgin sacrifice not good enough?"
He sat back, her words feeling like a slap in the face. The last thing he wanted to do was fight with her. He had been looking forward to being with Anna for weeks, they were having so much fun earlier, but he had managed to ruin everything with a four minute song.
"Can you just understand why I wrote them?"
"Yeah! I mean, why would you ever keep something that private from the masses?"
"Cut the sarcasm, Anna."
"Cut the song, David."
He jumped off the crate, startling Anna enough that she fell backward. He grabbed her arm and hauled her to her feet, gritting his teeth in anger. "What am I supposed to do? You're all I think about anymore, you're... Fuck, Anna! Everyone is on my back telling me I need to write something with meaning and then when I do, the only person I care about fucking hates it."
"I'm not-" she forced herself out of his arms and took a step back from him. "I didn't say I hated it. The song is beautiful, but you're fucking married, David! I don't want to be the other woman. Don't do that to me."
"It's already over, Anna! How many times do I need to tell you that?"
"You still go back to her, David. You live with her, you wear your wedding ring when I'm not around. For all I know, she's waiting for you at your mom's house right now. And when the record is released and people start digging, they'll find out it's me. Please... don't do this to me."

Prompt from anon: Awww can you do a Sketch part 2, pretty pretty please ? <333 I absolutely love it !
A/N: I feel like this is more focused on the plot rather than the reader being an artist, but I hope it’s okay! (I was going to use the gif of Jughead in a suit from the 1x05 promo but I couldn’t find it! If anyone has it, please send it to me!)

—————
It had been four months now since the Reggie incident with your sketchbook and you and Jughead had been hanging out constantly. Almost everyday. After school and on the weekends. After school, the two of you would walk together to Pop’s, shoulders bumping and laughing. Ordering milkshakes and fries, the two of you would get to work; Jughead working on his novel, you working on your sketches. You still drew him and even voluntarily showed him your sketches. He would always smile and compliment your talent before showing you the rough draft of his novel. You loved listening to him as he explained his theories regarding Jason Blossom’s death and everything that was going around in the town of Riverdale. Over the weeks, you noticed your feelings for Jughead started to change. It started with this realization of,
“Hey. This guy’s good-looking.”
It only went downhill from there. Soon your heart began fluttering whenever Jughead was around (which was all the time,) your palms got sweaty at the sight of him, and your heart leapt when he smiled or laughed. You were so far gone, but were torn between telling him your true feelings or not. He was your best friend, your only friend. You couldn’t lose him, but these feelings were eating you up inside. You made your decision. You had to say something.
It seemed like a blessing and curse when Principal Weatherbee announced one morning that there was going to be a spring fling dance at the high school next Saturday. On one hand, you were thrilled. You finally had an excuse to ask Jughead out. On the other hand, you now had an excuse to ask Jughead out. For the entire week, you didn’t mention the dance to your best friend, secretly hoping that he would ask you. When Saturday afternoon rolled around and you still hadn't been asked, you sighed as you realized you were going to have to take the reins. Now you were walking to Pop’s, thinking of how to ask him. Should you just do a long confession of love? You groaned in disgust as you shook your head, trashing that idea. Blurt it out? Ask him casually? Could you even manage asking him casually? The ideas and nerves were overwhelming. Before you knew it, you were at the front door of Pop’s, opening it slowly, the bell jingling quietly. You looked around for Jughead and found him in his usual booth, his eyes glued to his laptop. You took a deep breath. It was now or never. You made your way over to him and sat in the seat opposite from him.
“Hey, Juggie.” you said casually.
“Mm.” he said in response, not looking up.
This happened sometimes. Jughead would be so immersed in his writing, only managing sounds as answers. Usually you wouldn’t mind, but today you needed to talk to him. You took another deep breath and looked down nervously.
“I was just wondering, uh, if you, um, maybe wanted to go out with me? To the dance tonight? Like a date?”
You let out a breath. There. It was out. You frowned as you realized Jughead hadn’t said anything and clacking of the computer keys hadn’t stopped. You looked up and saw Jughead typing away, not giving any sign that he heard you.
“Jug.” you stated.
“Hmm?” he asked, eyes still on the computer.
“Did you even hear me?”
“Uh… Yeah.” The typing and no eye contact continued.
“What did I say then?” You asked, crossing your arms, getting irritated.
“Uh…” he trailed off before forgetting to answer you completely, too involved in his writing.
“Seriously?” you exclaimed and it was then that Jughead finally looked up, noticing your tone changed.
“What?” he asked. What did he miss?
You scoffed as you got up from the booth.
“Never mind. Forget about it.” you said, walking towards the door. Jughead began to get up
“Whoa, Y/N, what’d I—“
“I said forget about it. I’ll see you Monday, Jughead.” you said as you walked out of Pop’s.
Jughead fell back into his seat, racking his brain for what you must’ve said. Ten minutes later, he was still going through the fragmented pieces.
Out. Out. Something with out. What else was there? There was the dan—
Jughead’s eyes popped open. The dance! You wanted to go with him to the dance! You were asking him out! He groaned as he realized what an idiot he had been. He looked at the clock. 2:43. The dance started at 6. He had to pull something together quickly. He put his laptop away as fast as he could, rushing out of the diner with his book bag.
Jughead be damned. You were going to have fun tonight with or without him. You looked down at your dress and smiled. It was a light purple and accentuated your figure quite nicely. Your white heels didn’t hurt the outfit either. You were just putting the final touches on your makeup when you heard your mom from downstairs.
“Honey! Your date’s here!”
You frowned. Date? You heard footsteps coming up the stairs and turned around, just as Jughead walked into your room holding a red rose, wearing a suit and still wearing his signature beanie. Your eyes widened.
“Jughead? What are you doing here?”
He smirked.
“Hello to you too, Y/N,” he said.
You didn’t answer and he sighed, putting the rose into the vase filled with daisies on your dresser.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “For not listening to you today. I don’t have an excuse.”
You smiled softly, knowing you couldn’t stay mad at him.
“Thank you.” you said, accepting his apology.
Jughead smiled and put his hands in his pockets.
“So, uh, you mentioned something earlier about going out?” he asked.
You blushed and nodded, forcing yourself to keep eye contact.
The teenage boy chuckled.
“Well, I’d love to. We better get going though. The dance is gonna start soon. My lady?” he asked, holding his arm out.
You smiled widely as you crossed the room and linked your arm with his.
“Shall we?” he asked.
You nodded and the two of you descended the stairs. Your parents quickly took pictures of the both of you before sending you on your way. Jughead had driven over so the two of you got into the car, and began the short drive to the high school. The two of you were silent. You struggled to find something to say when you felt Jughead gently take your hand and intertwine it with one of his. You smiled and looked down. All was right.

Mobile Photography with Oppo F3
* All photos taken using Oppo F3
I have reluctance using smartphones and trust it to do jobs done by a laptop, a DSLR and a tablet. I know, at this time and age when the compactness and practicality that they offer and over the years, the modifications had them useful for business and leisure.
Don’t consider me a light traveler. I always make it a point that my bag is my portable office if I will be away from home for days. So when I was told to try out Oppo F3, well, why not? Since I will be heading to Villa Escudero, why not try it there? Sixteen megapixels front and 13 at the rear, well.
Let me say what I feel in these series of photos I took using Oppo F3, and yes, disclaimer, none of them are edited. I just did a few up and down sliding, pinching and tapping. Plus, the photos are taken at the following hours: early morning, mid-morning, noon, afternoon and night time.
Mobile Connectivity
Since it is dual SIM, I attached both my SIM cards running on LTE. Since not all areas along South Super Highway are LTE ready, 3G is not bothersome at all. Mobile video calls were uninterrupted despite the shift in connection.
Inside JAC Liner Bus. A fare of P152/head from Buendia Station to Tiaong Quezon. Just tell the driver “Villa Escudero po.”
Upon arriving at San Pablo and Tiaong, Quezon Boundary and entering the resort premises, I still enjoyed the sights and my connection. But inside the resort, since the Coco Pavilion, Indigo Café, the pool side and the Mariposa Bar has fiber optic internet, there’s no need for me to use the mobile data.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE THERE. An extreme close-up shot of the resort sign. A bit grainy, though.
BARRIOTIC. This rough road is a luxury for everyone escaping asphalt and concrete. Some minor ISO adjustments, I was able to render the play of lights and shadow the way I want them to blend.
Battery life while on data usage is highly satisfactory, somehow meets most of my expectations since I had installed apps that I need and made it a point that I am notified for messages and updates.
Of course, the camera
Back in early days of digital mobile communications, most were bothered if the SMS messages where delivered on real time pre-unlimited calls and text promos. Thinking about it now makes it pre-historic. Now, we are bothered about how our photos would look like, in a jiffy.
Morning:
I arrived at 8am and really glad that the clouds did not upstage Mt. Banahaw’s view from the Coconut Pavilion. Overnight staying guests are having their breakfast while I asked the friendly staff for assistance. By the way, if you are on a day tour and arrive at the Villa hungry and early, you can have your breakfast added to the package. The breakfast buffet costs P500 per head and served till 9:30AM.
TYPICAL PLANTATION DAY. People keeping the place clean and in order is a 24-hours work for these well-trained staff. In this photo, I think, Oppo F3 agreed with me without adjustments.
Food Tes/asting
Since the trend is to share and to spread, some noted Instagram users, attribute their success with their phone’s capacity to act like their second brain. I must admit, Oppo F3 came in handy and it doesn’t made it feel like “scandalous” whenever I carry a bulky DSLR.
OMELETTE TABLE How do you want your eggs cooked? If you want them mixed with these add-ons, they will lighten up the usual sunny-side up. Here, I must admit that I was after the flame and its wavering.
VINTAGE DRAMA. Meet the people who will cook your eggs right. Request and they will surely deliver. I tried using the black and white filter here and I think, Oppo F3 delivered.
BREAKFAST BUFFET. Enjoy unlimited chicken arroz caldo (highy recommended) topped with fried garlic, spring onions, boiled egg and some calamansi. For some reasons, I know that I was trying to focus on the Arroz Caldo by tapping on the site on the scree sign but everything turned out blurred. I tried a couple of times but same results.
PAMBANSANG AGAHAN. What else could make your breakfast full? Daing na bagus! Going against the light, somehow Oppo F3 managed to auto adjust when I tapped the middle fish on top.
JELLY CLOSE. Mount Cristobal grown “Sampinit” or local raspberries has two ways of being served at the Villa Escudero. One, ice cream. Two, as a complement to kesong puti and pan de sal. And of course, both made in the resort’s kitchen. I am always obsessed with my subjects and want them close. This is somehow, satisfying for me.
SWEET. Balicucha from Ilocos and Mt. Banahaw from this angle? Who wouldn’t love this view from Coconut pavilion? I just love how Oppo F3 played with me on this landscape.
Mid-morning at the Waterfalls
Lunch buffets happen here at the waterfalls. In the tradition of the Escudero’s picnics, guests are made to indulge how the family lived and share their bounties with their friends and workers. All food served are from heirloom recipes. The lunches are homage to the Labasin River, whose waters powered the first hydroelectric plant in the Philippines.
LUNCH BUFFET TABLE. The quaint set-up is elaborately curated to welcome diners and let them know they are home. On this photo, I really want the focus on the boiled eggs because thet’s where the light is. One tap, Oppo F3 just know what I feel.
THIS IS CALDERETA. Remember how your grandmother used to cook this dish? Villa Escudero’s caldereta will definitely remind you that your favorite viand is cooked this way. For some reasons, at this close range, Oppo F3 agreed. The smoky details caught while the exact color stayed.
FOOT BATH. Guests can linger as long as they want after lunch. Again, I like the way Oppo F3 plays with landscapes.
NOON AT THE ANCESTRAL HOUSE GARDENS
Everyday Mobile Photography with Oppo F3
Let me remind everyone that the ancestral house grounds are off-limits to regular guests. They can only view from this range since this is a private resident built when the patriarch, Don Arsenio decided to move from San Pablo to Tiaong. With the loving guidance of his wife, Dona Rosario, they were able to build a loving home with the view of Mt. Cristobal as the residence’s background.
Aside from the Villa Escudero being a home to generations of Escuderos and their plantation and resort workers (each families from seventh generations given a space of 300 square meters), it also houses 100 bird species. According to Don Ado, when his father passed away, he left a big chest and everyone was anxious to open it. And when they did, it was full of “tirador” which Don Arsenio bought from kids so they won’t harm the birds. Also, Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) Laguna Pitbull Center where the rescued Laguna fighting pitbulls are cared for (http://ift.tt/2x7mOn1).
Anyway, it was 12 o’clock and I was granted permission by Ms. Rosalie Escudero-Blume. I took the liberty to take photos of the statues inside the garden and the experience was so artsy I felt so ashamed why I never took my Humanities class seriously. And all statues in the lawn are collections of their parents and the landscape is a museum itself.
ALABASTER INNOCENCE. He graces the middle of the garden with his impish smile like any other toddler would. Oppo F3 caught all elements vividly here and despite the photo taken against the light.
THE SEVEN MUSES OF ARTS ALABASTER VASE. The details of jovial and forlorn. I was wondering who would put a vase like this in the middle of the garden?
A MIX OF FEMININITY AND MASCULINITY. Coral Pink has always been the house’s color since it was erected. A mixture of powdered red corals with calcium carbide (kalburo) and dissolved with water made this color possible. The mansion showed how Don Arsenio and Dona Rosario complement each other’s personalities –a bull’shead that symbolizes a strong foundation and the color of love that has wrapped the whole mansion’s exterior. Oppo F3 caught the rustic details I want to see and delivered the depth that I want to imply.
