Random JATP Headcannon: The Wilson’s and Street Food
Do you ever think about how after the boy’s death Bobby was probably extremely weary of all take-out, street food, and basically all food that he can’t see how it is prepared? Because I do! SO I decided to write a headcannon about it.
I mean my man watched his three brothers die a horribly painful death because they wanted to have a quick bite to eat. Don’t think about how he was probably the person who found them dying from food poisoning, in excruciating pain probably scared out of their goddamn minds. Don’t think about him clutching their bodies sobbing. Don’t think about how Bobby 100% most definitely didn’t eat anything for the next few days after the guys’ death. Don’t think about how he was probably too scared to trust any foods that he doesn’t make himself. But honestly, he is terrible at cooking that was Reggie’s and Alex’s jobs. I mean he can make a couple of Filipino recipes that his Lola taught him how to make like halo-halo, adobo, liempo sinigang rice.
Then eventually, he started to eat again, well not exactly, I mean Dr. Crystal seemed hopeful. But like he would go to restaurants with like multiple EFFING Michelin Stars and like refuse the food because he’s so scared that he might choke, or get food poisoning and die like the others. Like he low-key throws a tantrum because he is freaking and upsets the chef, but can you blame him?
Without any contexts the public and gossip magazines were like:
“woah I know he’s a rock star but what a spoiled brat”
“TREVOR WILSON: A FOOD SNOB?!?!”
“I Can’t Believe (It’s Not Butter sorry back to the headcannon lol) That This Rising Star Threw His Soup at the Chef a Michelin Star Restaurant”
(It was completely by accident btw!!! The matching friendship ring with the guys fell in the soup and he didn’t want to lose another part of his friends. So he started to rush to the bathroom with the soup to find the ring and fix it. .....and the chef just happened to be right behind.....and the gazpacho just happened to spill all over him. But he did get the ring so..... that’s good!!! But he also cried a bunch washing the tomato off of it tho)
Rose started to swing by his house every couple of days with bags full of ingredients and she checks in with him as she is making classic Puerto Rican comfort foods. She quickly realized that his vegetarianism wasn’t a lie and adjusted the recipes that she grew up with to suit his needs. Rose also realizes that if Bobby doesn’t know how a certain food is made and if he can’t see all the ingredients that went into it then he would refuse to eat it. So she fell into a pattern where she would cook at his mansion as he looks over her shoulder seeing how she make the dishes, sadly laughing at the terrible dad jokes she makes. (The jokes remind him of the one Reggie use to make)
Rose “The Queen of Meal Prepping Before Meal Prepping was Popular” makes enough food the next couple of days. Together they would sit down together to enjoy a meal. Rose just tells him it was to make sure that she made the recipe correctly. But really it was to ease his anxiety about eating and to prove that the food isn’t poison. However, deep down it was to also show him that it is okay to make new friends and the boys probably would have wanted him to at least try to move on a little. Quickly Rose discovered that his favorite dishes are arroz con gandules (basically white rice with peas and olives), mofongo (think like mashed potatoes but with plantains), and some many pasteles and empanadas. And even after Julie and Carrie were born they have family dinners once per week that Rose cooked.
Well I mean until her chemo started of course because that when the roles started to reverse..... (but I’ve given y’all enough angst today, so that’s a story for another time)
I mean at some point he probably had to learn how to cook for himself and Carrie or at the very least he goes to a restaurant that personally shows him how the food is prepared/ he can see most of the steps on how it is prepared. Like one time The number of professional chefs my manz personally knows is ridiculous!!! I mean once he became FILTHY LIKE DIRTY LIKE I WOULD EAT HIM rich he definitely got a personal chef to either meal prep or cooks meals for both him and Carrie.
Bobby had one of the worst anxiety attacks of his life (I mean other than when he found out the guys died) when Carrie was 7. She went to Flynn’s birthday party at an arcade and found out that she ate cheese pizza and hot dogs (I mean Lukie, Lexington, and Reg died from street glizzies for fuck’s sake). Sobbing he called Rose freaking out as he drove Carrie (who was blissfully ignorant singing along to the Kidz Bop CD she got from the party favor) to the ER. “Rose I can’t lose another person who I love” Rose right before she had to perform at a gig she convinced him to turn around and go back home.
This is @iamthefryiestfrench-blog genius idea and I love it so, so much but Carrie and Bobby definitely started to cook dinner together like a couple times a week as Father-Daughter bonding time. Well until Carrie started to get super busy with Dirty Candy and before Trevor started touring again at that point they started to drift away. Fights started to happen more frequently. Carrie started to get more and more take-out to spite Trevor, but she didn’t realize that Trevor stopped eating again. A major fight erupted after Trevor passed out from hunger a couple of weeks after the Orphuem concert.
“Carrie sweetie it is NOT DRUGS”
“Then why did I walk in to you knocked out on the floor”
“I just hadn’t had time to eat today mahal”
“Dad do not lie to me! I cannot lose another person who I love. I can’t Dad. I’m going to call Dr. Crystal!!!”
And that was when the truth was revealed...
Carrie’s channel is slowly started to be sponsored by hello fresh, cookunity, or blue apron every single week without fail. Both of them wouldn’t admit it, but this was her offering the olive branch and Trevor took it IMMEDIATELY. (He missed cooking with his little girl). And in the sponsorship ad you would see Trevor cooking a meal with his hair in little pigtails with pink scrunchies.
Of course, they get the vegetarian meals and if you use here promo code “DIRTYCANDI10” then you can get up to 10 meals for free!!! So thank you so much Hello Fresh for sponsering today’s video!!!
It took almost 25 years but cooking with Carrie again made things feel almost alright again and that’s all Bobby could have asked for.

Hard Enough Left Modern AU
Because I miss Ruth
There hadn't been activity on that particular channel in weeks. Every few days Emily would log on, only to be dissapointed to see that nothing had changed. The only activity being comments from other viewers asking when to expect another video.
It had gotten to the point where she had checked to make sure she was still subscribed, and she edited her settings to make sure she'd get a notification the next time there was anything uploaded. It was another three weeks after that, that she had checked the time on her phone to see the banner across the screen.
Rushing through the last of her course work, she threw her backpack on the floor and reached for her tablet. She tapped a fingernail against the screen impatiently as YouTube finally loaded, hitting pause quickly so she could dig her headphones out of the nightstand drawer.
She'd binged Ruth's videos in the span of a few days. She didn't know how girls on YouTube did it, especially with a DIY channel. Starting back from the first videos posted a few years before, the video quality had improved, the girl's editing had improved, and she'd become more comfortable in front of a camera. From cooking, and baking, to personal desk size succulent gardens, or organizing and purging a closet, somehow the girl had made a name for herself on the internet and the most mundane of tasks seemed more interesting when discussed and explained on this girl's channel.
Comfortable in her bed, she finally pressed play and tilted her head as the personalized graphic of a constellation came on screen, which the girl had done a tutorial on also....
When did she have the time to do all this?
She was pulled from her thoughts, and rather startled, to see an exhausted looking version of the girl who ran the channel. Ruth's dark hair was pulled in to a messy bun, circles under her eyes and she looked like she hadn't taken the time to get out of her pajamas. What was most startling, was what looked like a medical oxygen tube beneath her nose.
Looking up into the camera, she waved vaguely with her usual greeting before continuing.
"I've never really shared this, because I never had any reason to-" She held up the small tank of oxygen sitting beside her and grinned flatly. "-but now I do.....so today's video is a bit of a PSA."
Her expression dulled and she stared at the screen a moment. "Get out of the shot."
"I'm not in the shot," came a low response from the corner.
Ruth addressed the camera again. "I have help today."
A few clips were edited in of Ruth and....was that Jesse Hudson?
The Piston Cup driver?
The two were figuring out where to stage Ruth's things, and Ruth watched in exasperation before telling him to leave her stuff alone and let her do it.
"I'm just trying to help."
"This isn't my first video or anything-....no, leave the tank there-"
"Wh-"
"Because that's where I keep it when I'm working here-"
The clip cut back to Ruth's slightly more professional expression and she reached for the camera. "For those of you who keep up, yes, that was Jesse Hudson. Jesse, say hello."
"Hey." He muttered with a glance up from his phone.
"We're twins. Before you flood my inbox, I'm older, it's not that exciting to have a celebrity sibling and-....." Ruth paused and stared at the screen again. "Did you just kick the footboard of my bed?"
Just barely in the frame, Jesse's Nikes could be seen as he kicked off from the bed again, spinning the chair slowly. "Yeah, cause you lie."
"I do not lie. You're- you know what, this is my video, and I'm not spending ages editing it so now the world can see how sulky you are."
The chair rolled further in to frame and Jesse only shrugged a shoulder before going back to his phone.
Ruth took a slow breath, for effect or because she needed it, it was hard to tell, before launching in to a lengthy explanation of why she had been absent for so long.
"I don't have an actual diagnosis, no one can give me a specific name for it-"
The more she spoke, the more emotional the video became. The natural lighting of her bedroom made the video a little surreal, the way it picked up the threatening shine in the girl's eyes wasn't staged, or planned, or even wanted. It was apparent that a portion had been cut. She looked like she had been crying, and instead of lazing in the background, Jesse was sitting beside her at her desk, chin rested on his hand as he looked between her and the screen silently.
"Some of you wonder how I have time to do any of this, some of you are very rude in your questioning of how I have time-"
The clip had been edited again and a more composed looking Ruth stared at the camera before speaking and glancing over her shoulder. "Our older brother thought there was a problem and I'm sure Jesse is getting lectured for something...."
She'd edited captions in, and color coded them for each brother. They appeared at the bottom of the screen while she made a show of her impatience on camera.
"Can you for once in your life-"
"She asked me to help-"
Ruth made eye contact with the camera a moment before continuing, explaining that her illness started back in the early 2000s. Doctors had originally treated her for bronchitis, then walking pneumonia. X-rays, blood tests, screenings and different antibiotics had all been tried with only mininal results. There was the possibility of an autoimmune disorder but they hadn't started that round of tests yet.
"I don't always have an oxygen tank, this is a bit of a new development...." She eyed the small cylinder beside her and it was obvious to see that she was still trying to wrap her head around it. With a shaky and watery smile she looked back at the camera.
"It's extremely hard to be looked at the way people do when you have something like this basically tied to your side."
She ignored her twins' return to his chair beside her.
"For some it's an insulin pump, for me it's an oxygen tank, for others it's chronic pain. We know we have it, while the general public tends to look at us like we're looking for sympathy or leaching the system. Just because it's an invisible disease doesn't mean it isn't there."
She looked at her brother before leaning back in her computer chair. Drawing her knee up, she wrapped an arm around it.
"Where had we gone the other day? Was it the grocery store-"
"Doctor appointment."
"Oh, yeah. It was." Ruth frowned. "I've been issued a handicap sign for the mirror of my car....they haven't sent the new license plate yet. I didn't even want to use it but it was a really bad day for me. My family convinced me to use it to park as close as possible, and then wanted to get me a wheel chair."
She pursed her lips, taking a moment to gather her thoughts and looked in to the camera.
"Some middle aged woman came right up to me and told me she thought it was horrible that I would do such a thing for a closer space. That as a young woman in my twenties, I was more than capable of walking the extra hundred feet and had no right to be using my grandparents' issued sign like that."
She looked away from the camera and swiped a tear from her eye. Barely seen on camera, it looked like Jesse might have nudged her chair with his foot.
"I was so upset I showed her my signature on the back, and then my driver's license. Just because I'm in my twenties doesn't mean-"
She shook her head and sighed while rubbing her forehead.
"It's hard enough for people like myself to be so restricted when we're supposed to be 'enjoying our youth'...don't be that person. Just.....take a moment to realize that we're not always how we appear. It's a smack of pride to even have to use that handicap sign. I just stared at it hanging from the rearview mirror, convincing myself not to take it back down for some complete stranger to then treat me that way?"
"That was the appointment they gave you the tank." Jesse muttered lowly.
"It was." She agreed. "Like that wasn't a hard pill to swallow already...."
There was a brief pause, and it was obvious she was mentally shaking herself. She diverted the topic somewhat, sitting up straighter and getting composed.
"So that's where all my time comes from. This started as a hobby a few years ago and because of you-" she gestured to the screen. "-faithfull viewers and subscribers, I've networked with a few different small businesses, I work from home. I have my Etsy shop, I've been able to review different products and be sponsored by those companies. If you haven't visited, be sure to check the links in the description. There's my Etsy shop, Instagram, Twitter, and links to my favourite channels."
As an afterthought, she added. "Maybe I'll do more videos on this, I'm not really sure. Leave your thoughts in the comments."
It was her usual send off, but for some reason it meant so much more after a fifteen minute video explaining something so personal.
"Remember guys, there's always a reason to smile. Until next time."
The personalized LittleDipperCo. appeared on screen alongside the subscribe button and list of links before the next video in the playlist began to buffer.
She hit cancel and set the tablet aside, trying to digest the last fifteen minutes. She'd ordered from the Etsy shop, LittleDipperCo. before and had recieved a little handwritten note alongside all the little items she'd ordered.
Stickers, bookmarks, a personalized mug for her dad, the earrings she was currently wearing....because she'd ordered so much and had been so patient, Ruth had added a few small items and a personal thank you card.
She was her favorite shop, there was something unique about LittleDipperCo.-creations by RuthAnne- that had always stood out to her.
Grabbing her tablet, she went back to find the link and glanced up at her open doorway in surprise when her brother appeared.
"Did you see what he's saying about me?"
"What who is saying-"
"Hudson thinks he's being funny-"
"Get off of Twitter, Alexander."
Alex held his phone up and read the time stamp. "An hour and a half ago-"
Emily glanced back at the upload time of Ruth's video. It was only about half an hour old.
Jesse Hudson was apparently roasting her brother in that video.
She blinked a few times and hid a smirk, busying herself with reaching for a hair tie. "Don't you have some kind of conference to get ready for?"
Another alert popped up as he made a show of leaving her doorway and Emily shook her head while clicking the link.
Let's lighten the mood! PSA- BLOOPERS AND REAL TALK.

Just about to leave off the beads for a bit for some embroidery.
Right after this break brought to you by your sponsor, my job.
Seriously.......I need a break to stab something. Also, what little space my dad's parasite has deeeeiiiiiigggggnnnned to leave me is in chaos, so I seriously might need to organize before I can sleep.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Okay! The great thing about organising a tiny space is that it literally takes five minutes (it's literally like three feet cubed, so thanks womb donor). That's why van life is going to be amazing. Then I wanted to rinse out a glove for tonight, in case I have to do the oily nails again tonight, I just use one glove for like, gross motor stuff and I leave my non-dom hand uncovered for more fine motor stuff. I know it doesn't make any sense but oh well. It's just not efficient to wear two gloves. So I just need one glove.
Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnyyyyyyywwwwwwaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy
I got a ton of errands done today, finished my taxes, filled my inhaler scrip (oh my god dead, I'm so mad; I don't understand why my coupon didn't work; I should've insisted the pharmtech try the other code), sent my brother one of his b-day packages (boy writes me he doesn't remember his boyfriend's name 😓 what kinds of relationships are gay white boys having??? Of course, don't answer that; I had math with the same boy for like, seven semesters and he never remembered my name 😐). Um, oh yeah, I couldn't tell if I had enough money for my brake parts, so I just got the most expensive parts and I'll get the rest around the twenty-seventh. The post office was going crazy today.
So yeah, apart from that, I think I have some grocery/caffeine money leftover. The challenge to myself is to make it last.
Also, I want to start working on the..... stairs? But also the futon? But also the floor--I'm just chafing so hard against this crappy snowy shitty cold weather IT'S SO UPSETTING!!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭
Then my dad's problem just being, y'know, awful..... Stressful. I just want my space. I miss having my own space.
I know there's this base, instinctive anxiety about change, and sure, I feel that, but I think about everything I can't have because certain people think everything they can see is something they deserve whether it belongs to them or they've been invited to it, or not. My dad recently told me once, my womb donor once stole and deposited a neighbor's rent check. And my dad almost got busted for it, except for the bank security cameras showing his lack of involvement. Unfortunately the victim chose not to press charges...... How many years can you get for fraud like that?
And what does it say about the fiber of a person that they would do that? I mean, honestly, if it wasn't that this woman is severely mentally ill, and somehow her children generally managed to learn better, we all could've learned from that. That if we want it, we deserve it. But somehow my dad is convinced that she used to be a better person.
I really can't believe it. These aren't things that change in people, except that they learn they can get away with it, and they become more blatant. I mean, these are core moralities we're talking about, not like, oh well her body changed or she learned a new language or other skill. Your moral fiber doesn't change just because you have baby-bod or learned some programming.
I think she was always this way, and my dad really loved the person he thought she was and can't get over the fact that she conned him so hard. I think maybe he's even mourning that she maybe never loved him like he loved her. I'm kind of sad for him.
Anyway, so this blog has gotten waaaayyyyyyy out of hand. I think tomorrow I'm going to try to stab some fabric, and/or maybe I'll cut some lats for a futon/bench. I gotta do something..... What if I made the little benches like....Forty inches long, and there are two of them, and they are thirty inches, and expand to about sixty inches (maybe like, three inches loss). So when you put them together, you could get a queen sized bed if you wanted. Hmmm.....idk at the same time, it really seems a little hedonistic. The two benches is a great idea. I think instead of both pulling out to form a futon, though, maybe one is thirty inches long and swings up into a table.
Idk there I go again, panicking about how to round out the space with my last requirement. I've figured out the kitchen, my bed, how to access my bed, even how to shower and do my biz. But I have not figured out my studio/workspace. Because face it, when I'm not making a paycheck, in ideal circumstances, I'm at home, working. My studio practice is very important to me, and all this paper bead bullshit, while sure, I want to take my chunk out of waste, it's really just a way to have something to do. And yeah, sure, it'd be really cool to dip paint the beads and make tiny marble patterns for the beads, and selling something as simple as the beads is a great way to get my feet wet networking and connecting live and in person. And when people know me and know my product, then I can introduce more of the things I'm interested in, like charms. The charms are also a great way to make money and support the doll thing. But there will probably be a time, and it won't be so far in the future, when the paper bead thing is behind me. But it won't be before I get my eight dollars and more back from it. And of course, accomplish my mission of turning those magazines my dad has acquired into beads. But I have so many things to do--there are so many patches to stitch, and eventually I'm going to work my way up to probably full illustrations, and there are dolls to sculpt and at least one novel to finish, and I want to have a kid and raise it the best I can, and sooner than later, I need to get off this hamster wheel wasting my life to put money into others' pockets.
Ugh
I didn't end up calling my lender today. Dammit. I have to do that. Then I was going to put my whole return (pfft what's left after paying for the prep) toward that bill with the college. Even if I have to hold off till next spring semester, I'll make sure I have something or other to show, probably a couple dolls using resin in some more outside the box ways that I hope I haven't discussed too much before.
You know something just totally out there that would be cool: Embroidered stickers. If I could figure out how to keep thread from picking up grime. Particularly, I still need a sticker for my gigantic thermos. Or many. Hmm.....I'm still lusting after that Pokemon color wheel, plus I could add the newer Pokemon to it.... that would be quite a project, to fit all......pfffttt.....I think last time I counted, including mega evolutions, it was nearing a thousand. Instead, I could stitch them one by one, never mind no I couldn't. The waste of fabric to start would drive me crazy, or the use of patience to stitch my way through a hoop of tiny Pokemon. Nope.... ugh......I'm just going to have to wrap up what I have going on and just start, if I want it. I could arrange them by like, groups of four or five, or two or three evolution groups (?) or try to leave them space to be made into individual stickers. Or whatever. Idk I'm tired.... And a little stressed.....

Influencer Marketing and The Consumer Journey

Influencer Marketing and The Consumer Journey
Most of us (marketers) must have already heard of the consumer journey framework which essentially covers the typical consumer decision making process – from being aware of the need/product to considering the choices and finally the purchase decision.
It is the goal of every marketer to revolve their strategies and campaign around these key stages and successfully influence consumers. Talking about influence, its a powerful thing that holds an integral role in marketing than ever before. With the prevalence of technology and the “overload” of information available on the digital space, its a challenge for marketers to influence consumers – to shape an opinion, cause an action or behavior.
With that, there is no better way to effectively influencer consumers than influencer marketing. As its name suggest, it engages key opinion leaders to share the brand message, providing a trusted form of review and recommendation to their network of followers.
However, many brands are only utilizing or aware of influencers at the awareness stage of a consumers’ journey. It is far from that. There are multiple stages and touchpoints where influencer marketing can come into play to create a more holistic marketing content amplification approach:
STAGE 1: AWARENESS
Also known as the stage of inspiration and education.
The very beginning of all consumers’ journey and one that is critical for brands and marketers. At this stage, the key priority is to increase brand awareness and engagement around the brand usually for new product launches and revamps etc.
As the product or service is still relatively new to consumers, brands should aim to create content that seeks to not only educate but also entertain and inspire consumers to find out more. With this, brands look for creative content that is able to achieve as many reach/ views.

Influencers are usually content creators of their own field, be it lifestyle photographer, fashion stylist, travel vlogging or web series creators. Brands can engage as creators to generate content with a fresh take on the intended marketing message that resonates with their followers. Take for example, @eden_ang who created a video to introduce the Samsung Gear VR to his followers and @lianev who filmed a short comical video to promote Tmobile’s data plan with Netflix.

Inspirational in-the-moment content focus on influencers, coupled with the right aesthetics and storytelling will help to achieve amazing brand awareness among their network. While celebrities/top influencers may provide the immense reach (in millions), brands are also starting to realize the potential of micro-but-niche influencers who may be more engaging with their fan base.
STAGE 2: CONSIDERATION AND PREFERENCE
RawStory
Capture and convince your consumers here!
As consumers are beginning to be aware and have come across your brand, this is the crucial time to capture their attention and interest, convincing them to consider your product over the many choices available. Consumers at this stage may not be entirely convinced yet but could be keeping a lookout for your brand across multiple channels – blogs, websites, social media platforms to find more information. It is thus important for brands to build multiple-channel influencer to further strengthen the consideration of consumers.

Influencers posses the ability to delivery authentic, trustworthy and attractive message on behalf of brands and affect consumers at the consideration stage. Cross-channel influencer marketing can also be used to further enhance the message: imagery post can be uploaded to influencers’ social media account such as Instagram while more detailed introduction to products could be in the form of video tutorial on influencerss’ Youtube channel or even review on blogs.
At this stage, it is important for brands to track their marketing content views and comments to understand consumers preference and consideration with regards to the brand message. Also, social listening can be conducted to understand the preferences of both consumers and influencers in the relevant market.
STAGE 3: PURCHASE
Kapture
Creating a seamless purchase experience
The ultimate goal for all brands – to convert any form of marketing efforts into actual sales from consumers. It is an important touchpoint that should never be neglected; brands have to ensure that a seamless purchase experience is created, making the link for consumers between the digital marketing content they see to the actual purchase site.

Influencer marketing is perfect for brands to build awareness and encourage trial from their consumers. The specially curated aesthetics from influencers often features the product in a refreshing and innovative way, inspiring consumers to consider trying.
Some key features that brand should take note of at this stage for influencer marketing are:
Conversions and click through rate – crucial for brands to ensure the “last mile” link is available to bring interested consumers from influencers’ content to the intended site; this could work through #linkinbio for influencers’ account or swipe up links available in Instagram stories.
Promotion codes – one of the most frequently used promotional and performance tracking method for brands, where each sponsored influencer is provided with a unique code to share with their followers. These codes serves as a special discount just for those who are interested in the influencers’ content and help brands to track the actual sale conversion.
STAGE 5: LOYALTY
Creating a long-term relationship with your consumers (and influencers)
An important stage for offline marketers but often overlooked when it comes to social media and influencer marketing. This is the stage where a particular marketing campaign has concluded and brand activities are on the “quiet” side. While offline marketers would perhaps follow up with loyalty programs, monthly EDMs or special promotions/invitations to members, brands on social media have even more opportunities to explore.

Influencer marketing should NOT be seen as an one-off activity – it has the potential to grow the brand beyond imagination through building long term relationship with influencers and consumers.
With influencers: Beyond the usual campaign content, brands can work with these influencers to create advocacy/ambassador programs that helps to build a community among them and the brand lovers. It is important to find influencers who truly appreciates the brand to convey a genuine message.

In the case of Adidas, it has created multiple “squad/teams” across different regions where groups of like minded influencers gather together for various brand activity and events. This long term dedicated relationship with key influencers helps to forge a strong community and brand relevance.

With consumers: What is a better way to keep your consumers by engaging them in a conversation with your brand and appreciating the content they create for you? User-generated content is on the rise for many brands to showcase real and personal experiences from those who matters most – actual consumers.
Brands can encourage consumers to upload content of their own and add the brand hashtag (for eg: #cantclutch this for @shopstudiodiy) or they can simply repost these content onto their account and create a portfolio of real life reviews.
Here you go, how influener marketing comes to play at the different stages of the consumer decision journey! Are you already employing all these?

Summer Picnics

Ah, summer in DC! After a long and cold winter, it’s pretty much impossible to keep us indoors once the weather really starts to warm up in late spring and early summer. Our summer weekends usually consist of getting together with friends, going on adventures around the DC area, and balancing our kids’ insatiable desire for time at the local splash pad. Today, in the spirit of 4th of July picnic festivities, I’m sharing one of our recent weekend adventures (including a summer picnic!) in partnership with Peapod, who makes life a bit easier by delivering our groceries – giving us more free time for the things we love!
Since we live in the city, we try to make sure that at least one of our summer weekend adventures includes time out in nature. I’ve shared a bunch of our favorite outdoor destinations before – including the National Arboretum, Dumbarton Oaks Gardens, and Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens – and each time we head out on an outdoor adventure we love to pack a picnic to enjoy with our girls. Our most beloved destination is probably George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate. There’s a ton of outdoor space where the girls can run around, we can visit the resident farm animals, and I love walking around the historic gardens. On the 4th of July, they have a fantastic display of daytime fireworks, historical reenactments, and even a naturalization ceremony on the lawn in front of the mansion! We get a family membership to Mount Vernon each year and visit at least once every season. And there are plenty of little park areas along the Potomac River near Mount Vernon for a family picnic!
Our weeks are super hectic, and I hate having to give up our precious weekend time for things like errands and food shopping. Summer feels even more precious, since we only have a few short weeks to break away from our regular routine and take advantage of this gorgeous weather! Being able to order groceries from Peapod and have them delivered to our home makes life sooooo much easier, and I’m honestly just happy not to have to squeeze yet another errand into my already busy weekday schedule. I’m also convinced that ordering groceries in advance is better for my bank account, since it forces me to meal plan a bit better, and means less food waste overall. Win win!
Ordering our groceries from Peapod is super easy. I usually browse the aisles through the Peapod app on my phone to find what I need (just as I would in person!), or use the Past Purchases function to add frequently purchased items like milk and eggs. I’m also a big fan of the Fresh Meal Kits for extra busy weeks. Whenever we’re planning a picnic, I make sure to add a few extra items to our Peapod order, including snacks that I know will travel well and my girls will enjoy, like crackers and hummus, salami, fresh fruit, and sliced cheese, along with a few pre-made pasta salads and ingredients for sandwiches – mozzarella, basil, and prosciutto on a baguette for the adults, and PB&J for the girls. On our way out the door, I throw all of our food into a cooler and pack a few extra supplies in a basket, and off we go!
Sophie and Alice LOVE a good picnic! They’re even happy to lend a hand with set up. It helps to bring rainbow plates and napkins!
Look at their little faces! Those smiles are just the best.
Sometimes, even when we stay closer to home during the day, we’ll pack a picnic and take it to our local park for a picnic dinner. It stays light so much later and the evening breezes are so lovely, it’s nice to just hang out on the picnic blanket while the girls run and play a little while longer. I’m all about slow, easy evenings and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible during the summer.
Sophie will be five in September, and I definitely have some clear memories of having picnic lunches and dinners with my dad when I was that age. I’m hopeful that both Sophie and Alice will grow up with fond memories of our weekend family adventures and summer picnics.
What are you doing to maximize your summer weekends? Are picnics and outdoor adventures part of your family’s summer traditions?
