The mentally stable Dimitri Fire emblem 3 hopes.
It surprises me that there's still ppl claiming so, but then I remember we're talking about 3h interpretations and I have to make peace with it.
But that doesn't stop me from venting a little bit in this little space I have lol. Actually, it dries me and makes me feel bad to bring this up because I will have to talk bad about Dedue, and I don't want to talk Bad about Dedue. He's a genuinely good boy. But "Human" nonetheless, which means Flaws. I like Felix too but he's become some sort of a clown that doesn't make me feel too bad. I like Felix tho, In a different way.
Mostly talking about these two because the take that "Dimitri has better support system" baffles me because, technically, these two are his support system in HopesVerse. The persons who Dimitri relays on and seek solace/advice/support. The rest doesn't really tackle any of his personal struggles (aside from the Mage!Mitri frustrated dream, but that's out of the bad equation in our 'mentally unwell' set of pixels, and Shez only has a glimpse). Contrary, to Houses verse where the whole blue lions cast knew about his shit, didn't know what to do, but didn't leave either.
I tackled this topic with other person on Twitter who was (or still is) on board with this take and the phrase they used was They contained him better, which of course I agree and remarked that was exactly the problem. Contain him is gonna be contra productive. I used a water dam analogy, where the structure of such dam is damaged, and the pressure of water keeps accumulating. Causing a foreseeable damage for the dam itself and the surroundings. You don't need to be a genius to understand it, you need experience or knowledge for mental ill topics tho.
I really don't want to extend so much on here because it's mostly just, rant format more than a proper analysis so I just want to point out these two things in their support conversations.
First, Dedue. Encourage him to keep on the vengeful path. Which we know was the final goal of Azure Moon and if you payed attention to 3 houses message. The whole Vengeful argument was something Bad, to keep it simple. Despite Dimitri actively looking for answers/guidance for something that, in a rational state he can see clearly like vengeance will consume his life (also Shez and Felix called out this behavior). Dedue answer only encourage him to keep on that path, because he would do that 💔. Presenting 2 oposite views is a great formula for confusion and disorientation. Now, Dedue's role is primary SUPPORT, not guidance nor orientation. He will support his shit no matter what, and we are quite aware of that if played Houses.
Second, Felix. Felix is a special case. He is smart but also an idiot lacks A LOT of soft skills to actually be of help. He's the only one who knows in this verse about Dimitri having a mental issue. In their A support to say the least, so they don't close or solve anything. What makes it more worrisome is the fact that Felix conceals the issue as a secret.
"So try to keep that whole "removing their heads" thing in check, yeah? We can just call it our little secret."
this extract here makes me feel so unwell 😭help
The whole burden falls over him and his lack of skills and wisdom on the matter will be too much for him later on. He at least, will be able to recognize that the problem is beyond of his capabilities and will look for help. Felix himself has his own issues and journey where he needs to learn. He's forced to get pass beyond some of his angry teen behavior but hasn't completely get over it.
There is a lot more to tackle, but that requires more work and time. What are the topics some of you think is important to cover around understanding the Hopes verse resolution? Dimitri's route? something? Do you think the route without Byleth is better? With that being said, I would like to delve deeper into character analysis, and the role each played for the Lords too. That also requires to talk about the Byleth and needs a whole analysis on their own, which requires time (which i don't have much lol) To end this vent, I would like to encourage people to do a little research for the terminology they're using like "Support System". Who makes it up and how it operates successfully. The fact that ppl saying "he has better support system" only because he didn't go feral on the run alone is not entirely valid. A reminder that people can feel alone with or without people around them. And containing the issue within doesn't solve any problem. At best, it's presented later. At worse, it gets worse.

Shadows of Fear: Did You Lock Up? (1.1, Thames, 1970)
"And they didn't make much mess?"
"No, not really. They forced that door. Smashed the cabinet, slashed a sofa. And kicked a hole in the bedroom door."
"Ah. Big mistake."
"What is?"
"Never lock inside doors. Anything you can to keep them out - but when they're in, let 'em get on with it."
"I'll remember."
#shadows of fear#single play#roger marshall#1970#classic tv#thames#kim mills#michael craig#gwen watford#ray smith#mark mcmanus#malcolm kaye#charles leno#having come to something of a premature pause in my New Scotland Yard watch (the first ep of series 3 isn't on the YT playlist I've been#using and is proving quite tricky to get ahold of) i thought I'd revisit this brief lived anthology series for the creepy season. i first#watched this about 10 years ago and my memories of it are scant to say the least‚ so it seemed like good viewing for the season#the production history of SoF is lost in the mists of time (unless someone out there wishes to enlighten me?); this first episode was shown#in June of 1970‚ but the rest didn't follow until January of the following year; probably this acted as a sort of pilot to gauge viewer#reactions to another vaguely horrorish anthology series (the previous decade had been ripe with them‚ tho we rarely see their like today)#and then there's the odd case of the final ep‚ shown almost 2 years after the series ended and running to half the length (and generally#feeling like an entirely different format) but I'll come to that when (and if) i get to the episode itself. this debut ep is... well it's#fine. i was excited to see Marshall's name in the opening credits‚ one of the most dependable of old tv writers and I'd quite forgotten he#contributed to this show. but the issue here is simply one of length. the plot is solid‚ a suitably grotty little tale of a family man's#mounting obsession with the burglars who broke into his home. it would make a good ep of Tales of Unease (shortly to begin on Thames'#sister broadcaster LWT) or a few years later as an episode of Tales of the Unexpected; both being 25 minute shows. but this clocks in at#close to 50 mins and there isn't really enough to it to sustain that longer running time‚ leaving it feeling a little stretched thin and#flimsy. a shame‚ because Craig and Watford are putting in excellent performances as the middle class couple whose reactions to the burglary#slowly shift as time passes (he goes from prosaic acceptance to fixated malice‚ she from shocked indignation to making peace with it all)#no big surprises in where the play is headed or how it plays out‚ but that's often the case with these things; it's often just as much#about the horrible foreknowledge of what must come than some shocking twist‚ and this plays it about right. it's just too long is all.

The original “substrate” - the bottom layer - provides the plane and the body of Rex Reason, which must be joined up with the head of Nelson Brenner as he would have looked “15 years ago” (i.e. in 1960). The picture chosen to represent the facial features of the younger Brenner (though not his hair) is a 1965 portrait of the actor Patrick McGoohan, as he appeared in an episode of Danger Man (Loyalty Always Pays). Aside from the incorrect age gap, the new head is too large for its adopted body and sits uncomfortably on Rex Reason’s shoulders at an anatomically impossible angle (with barely a neck to speak of).
The contortions do not end there, however, as the youthful image of Nelson Brenner must clearly display his receding hairline – the third layer to be added to the composition. For the “enlarged” close-up that Columbo presents as “evidence” in the final “gotcha” scene, the hairline was completely redrawn with a new left-sided parting, and the entire image inexplicably rasterized. No changes were made to the face itself, its size or its angle in relation to the rest of the body.
For the fifth and final transformation, Columbo’s “photo guys” went to work on the close-up and added features from the description that their witness gave them of the mysterious “operative” (code)named Steinmetz – and young Nelson Brenner, already follicly challenged, becomes an elderly gentleman, bearded and bespectacled, who is peering at the onlooker from underneath a set of bushy white eyebrows topped by the shiny expanse of his formidable forehead. (3/4)

Remembering that two long-running arcs of the Origami Yoda series regarding Dwight were his classmates becoming real friends with him as they stop seeing him as the ‘weird kid’ and connecting with him as a person, and Dwight starting and continuing to date Caroline, the girl he likes. These arcs present to the (presumably neurotypical) audience, an autistic-coded character as someone nuanced and human, who is capable and desirable as a partner and friend, encouraging the idea of looking past dismissive judgements of strangeness and to try to understand people, and even if you can’t, accept them and appreciate them for who they are.
#I am having thoughts and feelings abt origami yoda agin#because like. those are the major arcs w Dwight-the ones that aren’t kept to one book alone#it’s nice seeing them go from kinda just tolerating Dwight because he’s a similar outcast and they need yoda#to them actually liking him and wanting to spend time w him (see the museum visit when tommy is ditched by kellen for Dwight)#and Dwight never magically changes to become ‘normal’. the closest he gets is when he’s at that private school which is observed as kind of#stifling? to all the things that make Dwight interesting and creative#nah the series goes on and Dwight still stims and gets sidetracked by his special interests either to his benefit or detriment#but none of the kids have a problem with him for it. they get that it’s Dwight and these are the things he does#they don’t have a ton of moments of insight into dwight. they talk but they don’t dissect their conversations to parse out what he means#and that makes their communication of messages a little tricky#but the thing is: even though Dwight doesn’t tell them in a way they understand why say the rib bq is so important to him#or why he stims or what sensory issues he has because they might not have the language#even though they don’t have that passage of conversation clicked up#they accept these things as a part of him. and I think that’s a nice message to send.#maybe you won’t fully understand the people in your life but you should try. and even if you can’t you should accept them. quirks and all.#the strange case of origami yoda#origami yoda series#my post#tscooy

Project Diva X's way of getting outfits via rhythm game gacha makes me wanna run it over with a truck
#prince's talk tag#disclaimer: i do not drive#i love this game except for the way you get modules like fr#i have to play two thirds of a song to get to chance time‚ CLEAR chance time AND hit the star note and then HOPE the module i want appears#if i use a module that increases the chance of getting a new or rare one itd be a bit easier but i dont have one for Quirky!Meiko#ah in case you didnt know x is divided into clouds kinda like how prsk has different sekais#theres classic cute cool elegant and quirky. and the cryptonloids take on different personalities depending on the cloud#to clear a song you have to get enough voltage points and a good way to do thats is to wear modules and accessories that match the cloud#so for example the song Urotander Underhanded Rangers is a quirky cloud song#and base voltage is 100%. but if you use a quirky module and quirky accessories you can boost it so you get a headstart#on charging the voltage to clear the song#now each module has a special ability whether its helping with voltage or getting you more points or obtaining modules#this is where it gets tricky bc you need to use the appropriate modules to get the most voltage out of your gameplay#but if you want something specific like a new module but dont have a module that would make that easy for that cloud#then youll be playing the same song over and over until the gacha gods pity you and give you what you want#i want the underhand red modules for Meiko (both masked and unmasked versions)#but i dont have quirky meiko modules that increase the chance of getting a new or rare modules#and using a module that isnt quirky decreases my starting voltage by 20% and i need that voltage#bc fun twist if you dont clear the voltage by the end of the song you dont get a new module if you unlock it during chance time#theres a meiko festival thats hard af to play in this game where you have to play 3 hard ass songs to get the voltage high enough#but the outfit has a 1 in 4 chance of showing up#so you could be doing so good and then during chance time (which happens during the third song) the module wont show up#so you gotta do it all over again#OR the opposite where you dont get enough voltage but the module you need DOES show up but you dont get the module#bc your voltage wasnt high enough#i love this gameeeeeeeeeee

there's gonna be a lot of posts today and i'm sorry about that but i was looking at MrLlort's Monster Dash soundtrack playlist, and at the end of it is this very peculiar unknown 5 minute track that went unused. according to the description of the video, the file was literally just titled 'music.ogg' with no indication on where it comes from or anything. it's really odd because this was just uploaded today, meaning that this wasn't discovered until the new re-release of the 2010 version of the game. i think it might be an old demo or sample music of some sorts that was used for testing in earlier versions and left in by mistake, but who knows what it is...

Mockingbird Summer
Yesterday I killed a fish. This is the sort of thing that happens when you go fishing, but I find that I cannot stop thinking about it.
I am trying to imagine what it must be like to be pulled into a great bright world that is not your own, to be gasping and dying while a stranger tries to rip out of your throat the hook that they put there.
Why did I think writing about it would help?
The first time that day a fish swallowed a hook, I was able to save it, or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.
We had a good rhythm, for a while. One of us caught a fish, and usually I would free it. They had brought a little blue towel, but i did not know what it was for until I saw one of them putting it between their hand and the fish. This, and some other things, exposed some fundamental differences in the way that each of us was taught to fish. I was taught to comb down the spines with my hand, to split worms with my thumbnail. It was easier and harder than I remembered, and the sense of my father was overwhelming.
That is not to say that he was “there”, whatever that means. I do not believe in ghosts. Not in real life, anyway. The ghost of him in my head, though, goes on and on and on, and sometimes my shoulder feels a big heavy hand, which is a complete lie anyway because he never even touched us much like that anyway. I guess I imagine sometimes hugging him around the middle and squeezing, but everyone knows that memories come to nothing anyway. I do not want to forget but I am tired of remembering all the time.
The first fish that swallowed a hook was a largemouth bass. There are bluegills, largemouth bass, and catfish in the pond. I caught only bluegills that day. The fish I killed was a bluegill. The fish I maybe saved (maybe) was a largemouth bass, though, which did help. You know that they have taken the hook wrong when you pull them out of the water and they are bleeding. I assume that fish lips feel as much pain as the rest of them, but they must be made of cartilage because they do not bleed, and you can pretend.
This fish was bleeding. At the back of the mouth of a fish there is a little closed-up hole, like a sphincter or a socket, pink like a rose. When first the fish was presented to me for un-hooking, we feared that the whole of the hook had gone into its belly, and was only tearing it up further and further from the inside. But once we got the worm out of the way, pushed up the line like something much bigger on a spit, we saw that it had gone only partway, and though the blood was flowing still, the hook could be removed. I did it, though it took me too long and I am not so optimistic about his future.
That kind of thing seemed never to happen when it was my father and I. I kept trying to remember, especially after I killed the fish, but I could not remember a single time. Maybe I was better, or the fish were fewer (my mother used the word “overstocked” to talk about the pond when I told her about killing the fish) or there was something else unknowable about it that made it better. But I do not think that is true. I think maybe it happened as often then as it did now and my dad took care of it, and I did not know, or maybe I did not care because I was a child, and children have precious little empathy for living things.
Anyway, I thought that largemouth bass would be the worst of it, but there was still my fish to kill.
Along the way we discovered to my embarrassment that the part of the pond shore that we were fishing on was in fact private property, andthe people who owned the house did not recognize me. This was somewhat disquieting, because I think it is always strange to not be recognized in the place that you live. I do not blame him, though. I look different now, and I forgot the right words to say to him.
I caught the fish I killed quickly, and if I was happy it did not last very long because I saw quickly that it was bleeding and I have already said what the bleeding means. Largemouth bass have true names, and so do bluegills, but this means that the mouth of the fish I killed was small and difficult--impossible--to do anything in. I have no idea how that big golden hook even made its way in there. Possibly it slithered in like a snake, with my father’s blessing, just to make sure that I did not have a happy ending, because he hates those.
The worm would not come out of its mouth; it refused to slide obligingly up the thing that had killed it, even while it was helping me kill that fish. The fish twitched and twitched in my hands and the twitching made me feel better, even though in hindsight it is clear that it went on twitching for a while after it was dead. Eventually I ripped the worm up the line and could see the hook, horizontally skewering the soft fleshy back of the fish’s mouth. I could even see the barbed end poking out of the pink, taunting. But the mouths of bluegills are small and I knew in an instant that I could never get it out. I still tried, though I knew it was hurting it. I cut the line and cut it loose and all it did in the water was float there like a dead fish and I knew that the golden hook was still in its mouth because it’s still in mine too.

Do you think AB alienated her allies, sometimes?
I mean, for sure... I think the extent of that has been exaggerated by Alison W/eir, but you can definitely find examples of that. Like, Thomas Cheney, one of her relatives that she interceded for above Wolsey's protests, seemed pretty firmly in her camp. Then, by 1536 he's part of the faction that's supporting her stepdaughter.
Generally, though, imo, it's underestimated how difficult it is to maintain allies when one has power/influence, and how it's basically impossible to keep everyone happy all the time.

gritting my teeth fingers clawed into my thighs in a death grip reciting I wont listen to the Penumbra Podcast again to see if it gets better I wont listen to the Penumbra Podcast again to see if it gets better I w
#tpp#like on one hand! I appreciate the genre. I think the story itself is overall well made. they have an acting & production style that is so#cool to see in podcasts#and of course thank u for the queer characters#however. Constant egregious reminder that when most queer artists are making a 'queerphobia free setting' they are not thinking about aspecs#like at all#last time I listened it was like ok cool you have 2 aroace characters over the entire run so far#no background characters who r casually aspec#and both of them are Extremely stereotyped#but beyond that it's just. you realize you need to do the fucking work for the structural aspects of aphobia like you did for other#queer discrimination?#and I realize that for aro stuff in particular this can be tricky because it's so inherently tied to capitalism#but you can at least Acknowledge that this is the case. instead of completely ignoring it#(the silt verses did a good job of that approach btw)#and that's not even getting into other issues like how they portray trans women or schizophrenic ppl#or the thing where they use autistic traits for quirky 1 dimensional character jokes. which tbf is fairly common in certain media. but they#did this While talking about how they were flipping the trope of doing The Same Thing with depression on its head and stressing that as one#of their main things#like idk man I don't tend to declare shows as Problematique or turn my issue with one aspect into 'this whole show is riddled with bad stuff#but each of these are Genuinely issues in my opinion and they dropped the ball each time w/o seeming to notice#like some of these require. Basic amounts of research to Not Do. like portraying schizophrenic ppl as violent and doing violence because of#their psychosis#Or Not portraying every transfemme as predatory or violent#like the writers are definitely coming from a background of 'own the stereotypes by turning them into part of a fully realized person'#and they've found great success and freedom in doing that with a slutty depressed bisexual n charming homme fatale gay man that are also#well-rounded human characters#but when you are applying that logic to minorities you do not belong to. you need to use the utmost care if you're doing it At All#otherwise instead of subverting the thing you are just Doing The Thing#anyways i just. needed to get that out of my system. thanks for reading
