hi hun 🫶🏻🤍
✨ Life After Marriage Tarot Reading ✨
1. Marriage Dynamics: 4 of Cups 💤 So, here’s the tea: The 4 of Cups in this position shows that the marriage might start off feeling a bit… meh. It’s like you’re both sitting there, looking at each other, thinking, “Is this it?” 😐 Don’t let the boredom take over, though! The universe might be offering something special, but you’re so focused on what’s missing that you might not see it. Stay open to the little things that could spark joy in your relationship! 🔥
2. Communication: The Star, Queen of Pentacles, 3 of Swords & The Devil 💬 Whew, communication is gonna be a wild ride! 🌟 Channeled through Bright Vachirawit, The Star shines with hope and inspiration—you’ll both have moments where you’re each other’s guiding light. ✨ But then there’s the Queen of Pentacles, bringing in a nurturing, practical vibe. You’ll talk about your dreams and goals while also keeping things grounded. However, the 3 of Swords and The Devil creep in, warning of potential heartbreak and unhealthy patterns. 😬 Watch out for misunderstandings or toxic communication habits. Keep it real and remember that honesty and trust are your best friends here! 💖
3. Emotional Connection: Death & 4 of Wands 🦋 Talk about a transformation! Death isn’t as scary as it seems—it’s all about deep, profound change. Your emotional connection will go through a major rebirth. 🌱 Out with the old, in with the new! This change will lead you to the 4 of Wands, which is pure celebration and harmony. 🎉 Your bond will strengthen, leading to a happy and stable emotional life. You’ll be building a solid foundation together, where you both feel secure and loved. 🏡
4. Shared Goals & Dreams: 2 of Swords 🤔 The 2 of Swords indicates some indecision here, love. It’s like you both have your blindfolds on, unsure of which direction to go in. 😵‍💫 You might struggle to align your goals and dreams at first, feeling torn between different paths. But the key here is to communicate (remember that wild communication card?) and make decisions together. Don’t let fear or indecision hold you back from building your future together. Trust in the process! 🌟
5. Challenges & Conflicts: 3 of Cups 🎭 The 3 of Cups in this spot is interesting! Usually, it’s all about celebration and friendship, but as a challenge, it could mean dealing with too many outside influences. 🗣️ Maybe friends or social circles are meddling a bit too much? Or perhaps you’re both getting caught up in partying or distractions that keep you from addressing deeper issues. Just be mindful of where you’re putting your energy, and make sure you’re focusing on each other when it counts. 💞
6. Romance & Passion: 9 of Wands & Judgment 🔥 Romance? It’s a battlefield, darling! The 9 of Wands shows you both have been through some stuff and might be a little guarded when it comes to passion. 🛡️ But Judgment is here to wake you both up! 🚨 It’s like a cosmic alarm clock, telling you to let go of the past and rise to a higher level of love and intimacy. You’ll need to be patient and work through your walls, but once you do, that romance is going to be fierce and transformative. 💥
7. Family & Home Life: The Empress & 2 of Pentacles 👑 Honey, home life is going to be lush! The Empress brings all that nurturing, abundant, and loving energy. 🌸 You’re going to create a warm, cozy environment that’s full of life and beauty. But with the 2 of Pentacles, there’s also going to be a bit of a balancing act. ⚖️ You’ll be juggling responsibilities—maybe work, family, and home—but you’ll handle it like a boss. Just remember to stay grounded and make time for each other amidst all the hustle. 💼
8. Financial Situation: 2 of Cups 💑 When it comes to finances, it’s all about teamwork! The 2 of Cups shows that you and your partner will work well together when it comes to managing money. 🤝 You’ll support each other’s financial goals and be on the same page about spending and saving. This is a partnership where love and money flow smoothly together. 💸
9. Personal Growth: Ace of Pentacles 🌱 The Ace of Pentacles is all about fresh starts and new opportunities. After marriage, you’re both going to experience some serious personal growth. 💪 This card suggests that you’ll be planting seeds for the future—whether it’s new projects, investments, or even starting a family. It’s a time of abundance and prosperity, and you’ll both be growing into your full potential. 🌳
10. Long-term Happiness: 5 of Pentacles & The Tower 🌪️ Okay, brace yourself, because this combo is a bit intense. The 5 of Pentacles paired with The Tower suggests that there may be some tough times ahead. 💔 Financial struggles or feelings of isolation could arise, and The Tower indicates that things might come crashing down at some point—leading to a big shake-up in your life. But remember, The Tower clears out what isn’t serving you, making way for something stronger and more resilient. 🛠️ It’s all about how you rebuild and find your way back to happiness together.
Bottom of the Deck Energy: Knight of Cups 💌 Ah, the Knight of Cups at the bottom of the deck brings a little sweetness to the mix. This is the underlying energy—romantic, idealistic, and full of love. 🥰 Even when things get tough, there’s a strong current of love and devotion that will keep you going. Keep that knight’s energy close to your heart, and let it guide you through the ups and downs of marriage. 🏇
✨ And there you have it—a whirlwind of love, challenges, and growth in this post-marriage adventure! Keep your heart open, stay strong, and remember to lean on each other through it all. 💖

——————————————————
If I had to pick my favorite thing about working for Spencer Reid, it would probably be something that most people wouldn’t expect. Sure, it was nice to be able to work with a human encyclopedia, and he was definitely very nice to look at, but neither of those things contributed to my love for my job.
It was the sense of belonging. An overwhelming feeling of serenity that existed, flowing freely beneath the surface like a network of roots twined together. I never felt out of place when I was with Spencer — which couldn’t be said for basically any other time. Especially not now.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it’s just absurd. You harass your neighbors while dressed in a costume and they reward you with something sweet (or, in some cases, change). As I’ve grown older, not much has changed aside from the creativity and length of the costumes.
... and the sweet treats being replaced by the bitter sting of alcohol.
“You do realize that guy was hitting on you in there, right?” my friend shouted from less than a foot to my right.
“He was just being nice.”
“Yeah... in a bar,” another girl chimed in, “On Halloween.”
I tried to remember the face of the man they were talking about, but my memory of his eyes blended into the flashing lights of the club. Even if I wasn’t drunk, I knew it would have been hard to remember him. Because the truth was that he wasn’t the person I wanted to see when I closed my eyes.
“Leave her alone. She’s trying to stay pure for her professor,” my friend snickered.
Despite the treachery, I still caught her before she almost pushed us both straight off the curb in her drunken state. But it wasn’t her opinion I was worried about, because at that point, I was certain she would remember none of it by the time class rolled around come Monday. It was our other acquaintance that I responded to, with a very squeaky and unreliable, “I am not doing that!”
“Yeah, what she wants isn’t pure at all,” the mess on my shoulder droned. That was enough of a reason for me to drop her, although it really resulted in both of us barely staying on our feet on the somewhat crowded sidewalk.
“Stop! It’s not like that!”
“Sure it’s not.”
Then, something else caught her attention. Knowing her, I figured that it was either a man in a scandalous costume, or it was a two for one drink deal plastered in front of a bar. I assumed it was the latter, because as soon as she finished talking, she grabbed hold of our hands and yanked us against the brick wall of the next bar.
“So you wouldn’t mind if, theoretically, Professor Reid saw you in your costume?” she asked.
I like to think that I am a relatively smart girl. After all, I had made my way to graduate school, and Spencer seemed to think that I wasn’t a complete hopeless idiot. But in that moment, I couldn’t understand why on earth she would ever think to ask me that.
Running my hands over the fuzzy pink bodysuit I was wearing, I tried to picture his reaction. As soon as I tried to look down, however, the two floppy bunny ears affixed to the hood dropped over my eyes.
“I-I mean, I guess not…?” I mumbled, my face growing hot from something other than the alcohol, “I’m wearing it in public, so...”
But then she said it — the most terrifying two words I’d ever heard in my life.
“Okay – good.”
My eyes shot up immediately, trying to follow her eyes through the crowd of drunk, costumed people. By the time that I spotted him, somewhat thankfully dressed in normal clothes, I was powerless to stop it.
“Dr. Reid!” My friend’s voice rang out into the night, “Dr. Reid, come over here!”
The moment our eyes met, I knew I was fucked. Totally, completely, and utterly fucked. A clever little grin filled his cheeks as he quickly spotted me trying to hide under my hood.
“What the fuck are you doing?!” I shrieked, but he was already on his way over.
“You said you didn’t mind!”
In a panicked whisper, I bit back, “I didn’t say call him over here!”
When he grew closer, though, I corrected myself. Because it was not just Spencer who was walking over. There was someone else with him. Another man, just as tall and just as beautiful as Spencer, but with a dark complexion and an even more wicked smile.
As for my company, they had already scattered into the bar behind me, leaving me with a wordless, dumbstruck look on my face that was very poorly hidden behind bunny ears.
“H-hey Prof— Dr. Reid,” I managed to get out.
“Hey,” he answered in a tone I’d never heard before. A slightly guarded, very entertained but mostly awkward stretch of the vowel.
The man beside him, however, was quick to question.
“Who’s this?”
As I said before, I like to consider myself a relatively bright person. But the alcohol that night had been both free and strong. So, when I was asked by a handsome man who I was on the Devil’s night, I answered honestly.
“I’m a bunny!” I cried, bringing my hands together over my chest and turning to present the small pink pompom affixed to my lower back.
“I can see that,” the stranger replied through a genuine chuckle. But while the action was amusing to at least two of us in the conversation, Spencer looked mortified. It wasn’t necessarily negative, though.
I couldn’t be sure, of course, considering that I had already consumed more liquor that night than I had in the past month, but something told me that Spencer was less humiliated by me, and more worried about how blatant his response to my answer was. Because when he spoke, he did so through a smile.
“She’s uh... my teaching assistant.”
“Teaching assistant, huh?” his friend repeated, clearly amused.
There was almost a challenge to the title. Something about the way he said it setting my heart into overdrive. Unable to control my own treacherous tongue, I continued to dig myself a wonderfully sized hole to jump in to.
“I’m also very good at hopping,” I said.
Once again, the better company of the two laughed. Spencer, however, covered his smile with a hand that brought attention to just how red his face had grown over the course of a few seconds. I was so distracted by it, lost in the way I could still see upturned lips just from his eye shape alone, that I failed to acknowledge the other man for a suspicious length of time.
“Well hey, don’t let me get in the way of you two catching up. Reid, I’ll go tell the hostess we’re here, so the others know where to go.”
With a firm pat on the shoulder, the man almost turned to walk away. But before he could, I drew him back again.
“Ooh, is there a party?”
Spencer, finally able to speak again, rushed his reply.
“No, it’s nothing.”
It was obviously not nothing, though. Judging by the toothy grin that his friend flashed, it was a very big not-nothing.
“Did he not tell you?” he asked with an incredulous, mischievous tone, “It’s his birthday.”
And it was, by far, the most insulting, scandalous news I’d heard that night. Enough to elicit a sharp gasp and hand reaching out to grab his wrist in a way I knew I shouldn’t have.
“You didn’t tell me it’s your birthday!”
My mind was racing, kicking myself for having not figured it out sooner. I was trying to recall the monthly staff newsletter, but then quickly remembered that I usually relied on Spencer to summarize them for me.
“It’s not my birthday,” he explained with a sigh, “It was a few days ago.”
His friend seemed pleased by my response, although he clearly saw it dwindling. My heels had already dropped back down with my hands that fell away, signaling a very different emotion than the excitement from seconds prior.
“We’re meeting up with some people for drinks and dinner. You want to come?” he asked, trying to convince me before it was too late.
But the moment had passed, replaced by loud, insecure ranting that insisted that Spencer wouldn’t have avoided telling me his birthday unless he didn’t want me to know. That meant he either didn’t enjoy making a fuss out of his birthday, or he didn’t want me to, specifically.
“Uhh...”
“Don’t answer that,” Spencer cut in, swiftly raising a hand to dismiss the other man whose name I finally learned. “Thanks Derek, I’ll be there in a minute.”
“Suit yourself,” he mumbled back. But Derek, in all of his disappointment, didn’t fail to draw out one more flustered laugh from the two of us who remained as he gave a tiny half-wave and sang, “Goodbye, Bunny.”
Spencer’s neck craned back, never once leaving his friend until he had safely entered the restaurant. Once he was sure that he was safe from ridicule, or at least observation, his entire demeanor changed.
“I’m sorry about that,” he offered, but I couldn’t accept. If anyone had been a bother here, it was me (and my friends).
“No, I’m sorry I bothered you!” I rushed.
The silence stretched between us, an unsettling reminder that we rarely interacted outside of work. That he’d never known me to party, and I’d never thought of him doing something as routine and normal as celebrating a birthday. It shouldn’t have been strange, but it was.
Perhaps that feeling was what drove me to continue, proudly stating, “I promise that I will have all your work ready first thing in the morning.”
It wasn’t until Spencer’s eyebrows furrowed and his mouth opened in a strange, lopsided grin that I’d realized I made a mistake.
“Um...” he spoke through laughter, “Tomorrow is Saturday.”
“I’m very motivated?”
Thankfully, he saw the humiliation and was happy to offer me a graceful escape from my humiliation. “How about I give you until Tuesday, instead?”
“Yeah, that’s probably for the best, huh?”
I gladly took it, staring down at my heels as I tried to find anything else to focus on. Anything that wasn’t his eyes that seemed even more powerful after dark. But true to the magnetism I always experienced in his vicinity, I was drawn back into golden irises full of an emotion that made my heart beat twice as hard.
“Where did your friends go?” he asked. I didn’t trust myself to answer, so I just threw my thumb over my shoulder and towards the bar behind me. I didn’t turn away from him then, too scared to acknowledge that I would be leaving him soon. That we would go our separate ways again and I would have to wait until Tuesday to drown in the honey of his eyes again.
Sure enough, Spencer gave a solemn nod and cleared his throat before mumbling, “Right. You should probably go find them, so they don’t get worried.”
But I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to stay with him, the rest of the world be damned. I wanted to feel his eyes on me longer, especially when they started to wander my figure that I’d secretly hoped he would see.
I could pretend to hate my friend for calling him over all I wanted, but when I slipped into the costume hours earlier, I’d wondered what he would do if he saw me like this. And now that the answer was in front of me, torn between the exposed skin of my thighs and chest, I wanted to experience it for as long as possible.
With my fingers on the zipper to try and calm my heart, the inebriation manifested in soft giggles as I replied, “I think I’m pretty safe with you, Professor.”
Spencer didn’t need to vocalize his disagreement. I saw his contention in the form of wayward eyes falling to my hands that fiddled with the tiny piece of plastic keeping me covered. When they trailed back up the zipper teeth to meet my eyes again, they were filled with a hunger that took my breath away.
Unfortunately for us, though, our smitten haze wasn’t shared by anyone else in the vicinity. Especially not the drunk pack of men who passed, completely unaware of the amount of space they took up on the sidewalk. I don’t even remember one of them running into me, but I definitely remembered what followed in extreme, vivid detail.
Spencer caught me, quickly and more gracefully than I thought him capable of moving. His arms were locked around me, not only preventing me from face planting on the concrete but causing me to press my face directly against him.
Before he had a chance to say or do much of anything else, I placed my hands on his chest and tore myself away from the warmth of his embrace. Because I was already drunk enough on the alcohol — I didn’t need to be any more inebriated from him.
“S-See? You caught me!” I squeaked.
I didn’t miss the fact his hands stayed on my waist even with the added distance, his fingers subtly digging into and stroking the plush fabric. I didn’t try to stop them, either.
“Are you going to be okay? Should I take you home?”
I knew it wasn’t how he’d meant it, but my inner voice still pleaded, Yes, God, please, yes! My outer voice, however, clung to reason and respectability.
“No! Don’t miss your birthday dinner!” I insisted, but he didn’t look convinced. “I’m fine, seriously. I just suck at walking in heels.”
Any part of me that would have normally been offended by his insistence that I couldn’t handle myself while drinking was quelled by my desire to keep his hands on me as long as possible. Although there was enough space for my arms between our chests, I swore I felt his fluttering heartbeat against my fingers. I thought of hummingbirds.
Resigned to my stubbornness, Spencer took a moment longer to stroke patterns through the pink fabric wrapped around my waist before he sighed, “If you say so.”
“I do!” I giggled, leaning closer like I might convince him not to leave at all, “So you better listen up, mister Professor man.”
The look he gave me was sweet, honeyed bliss. But even that seemed minuscule in comparison to the way his hands slid over my sides, making their way over my shoulders and gently brushing the errant bunny ears back out of my face. He left them there, too, with a barely-there caress of my face.
“You look cute,” he said, like it wouldn’t break my heart.
Shier than he’d ever seen me before, I somehow managed to still look him in the eye as I answered, “So do you.”
It was a good thing I’d been paying attention, too. If I hadn’t been staring into his eyes, I would have missed the flash of chaotic playfulness that appeared just as he glanced down at the space between our chests.
I wouldn’t have been prepared at all when he dropped one of his hands from my face to the zipper of my costume. Not to say that anything could have prepared me for the way it felt to have his knuckle brush against the skin just below the lace bralette that had been meant to protect my modesty.
Before I could even comprehend the delicious friction of our skin, it was gone. Spencer pulled the zipper up to my chin, releasing the plastic in favor of grabbing hold of my chin once more.
“Be careful with that zipper,” he instructed, “I don’t need you getting hypothermia this early in the semester.”
Unsure of how else to respond, my body responded on instinct as it stammered, “I-I promise.”
“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked again, and my autopilot continued.
“Double promise. Promise squared.”
“Okay. You have my number so... call me if you need anything.”
I absently nodded, but Spencer accurately concluded that I hadn’t actually processed what he’d said. When he let go of me, he took the time to smooth out the bunched up fabric over my shoulders. I tried to convince myself that he was just interested in the soft fluff, but it was hard to ignore the hunger that’d only grown stronger. The darkness that rivaled the moonless hallow’s eve.
“I don’t mind giving you a ride home if it means you get back safe,” he said with a deathly seriousness strongly contrasted by the flippancy that followed. “Otherwise I’ll have more work for Tuesday.”
I was grateful for the shift, because it made the loss of his hands hurt less. My chest filled with laughter that quickly burst from me with frantic, messy words.
“Of course! The work. For Tuesday. Okay! Thank you!”
“For what?” he also said through laughter.
“I— don’t know.”
Spencer turned away from me, looking behind him at the obligations that would tear us apart. I wondered if he, too, was busy contemplating how well it suited just how different we were. How two establishments side by side could house such different things. How we were frequenting opposite ends of the spectrum.
Whatever he was thinking about, however, it didn’t break his spirits too badly. Because before he sent me on my merry way, he flashed me the goofiest little bouncing peace sign before he sang, “Hop along, little bunny.”
So I did, turning back to my life and letting him return to his. But I couldn’t shake the feeling of his eyes following me until the darkness of the bar swallowed the space between us.
Still, I didn’t need him to be there to remember how it felt for his hands to roam my body like familiar territory. I saw that look in his eyes every time that I closed my own and remembered how it made my legs shake like weak stems bending to the wind.
I decided then that it wasn’t the worst thing in the world that he’d seen me in my costume. In fact, I think he quite liked it.
 ——————————————————
 There are few things more relentless than Derek Morgan. Death and taxes, perhaps. When it came to mocking me, there wasn’t a single missed opportunity. Even at the darkest hour, I trusted him to be consistent and predictable.
That was precisely why it made no sense that I had made it through an entire dinner and drinks outing with the team without him mentioning what had happened. Not even once. I almost let myself be relieved. Perhaps time spent with a child that can talk back did him some good, I thought. But when the time finally came for us to take our leave, I realized my mistake. He wasn’t holding back out of the kindness of his heart.
No, Derek wanted to wait until there was no escape route. He wanted to have me trapped in a car hurtling down a highway before he spoke the words that he’d been waiting to say all night.
“So... Bunny.”
“Her name is (y/n),” I quickly corrected. Unfortunately, Derek wasn’t in a merciful mood. Although there was a notable smirk on his face, his next words were uttered with a hefty dose of skepticism. A warning that it was a subject that ought to be approached with a critical sincerity.
“Her name is Trouble. That’s what her name is,” he said, shaking his head.
“She’s just my teaching assistant,” I said like I might actually convince myself, though we both knew that I wasn’t going to convince him. “It’s fine.”
“Is that what they’re calling it nowadays?”
But that time, it was me who issued the warning.
“Stop,” I ordered, meeting his eyes to find him hiding his genuine concern under jokes that weren’t really jokes at all. “I respect her. She’s very bright and she earned her position.”
“I never said she didn’t. I know she’s probably smart, but I also saw the way you looked at her.”
The words felt like a blow to the stomach — yet another reminder that my affections for her were so thinly veiled they might as well be scrawled across my skin. He didn’t need to be a profiler to notice that I was fond of the girl, but it certainly made it worse.
Because he knew that I was lying when I muttered, “You don’t need to worry about it.”
He knew that I was lying, but he still asked, “Why’s that?”
“She’s...” I started, pausing while the word tried to form on my tongue. The word that had haunted me ever since those damned girls mentioned it. That short, simple little noun that had taken a cursory affection and turned it into full blown lust.
“She’s a virgin.”
Derek’s brows jumped up his face, his jaw dropping the same way mine had when I first heard the news. Then, just as I had, he put the pieces together and realized that it should have been a foregone conclusion.
“Trouble with a capital everything,” he half laughed.
But this wasn’t a joking matter, and I really wished that I could make him believe that. That definitely wouldn’t happen, though. Not when he looked up to see me hiding behind my hands, sinking into my seat like it would get me out of the conversation.
“Don’t be ridiculous. She’s obviously waiting.”
It was the wrong thing to say. I should have seen his response coming from a mile away. But I didn’t, and so I was forced to listen to his childish giggles that were followed with an even more lighthearted crooning.
“Yeah, waiting for the right professor to come teach her the lesson on the birds and the bees.”
“Cut it out.”
Without even looking, he astutely observed, “Kid, you’re blushing.”
“Yeah, because you’re talking about me fuc–”
The word never made it out, getting caught between my teeth as I bit down on my tongue damn near hard enough to make it bleed. I wished it would. I wanted the iron to drown me and rid me of the sinful things it sought to do, instead. Opting for a more… distinguished explanation, I eventually stammered the rest of the thought.
“You’re talking about me... deflowering my significantly younger employee!”
“You can say fuck, Reid,” he deadpanned, “I think you’re old enough now.”
“I don’t want to. It sounds too... crude.”
I didn’t expect him to understand. How could he? He’d only seen her when she was at her most provocative… by far. Part of me envied him, to be able to sequester her innocence and view her as just another girl.
But she wasn’t like anyone else. She was an untouched bloom, a magnolia of unearthly shades. A beautiful blossom that had broken through the concrete walls I’d maintained for so many years. A tantalizing taste of the life outside that I refused to let in.
A fucking tease.
“Too crude for little miss innocent bunny?” Derek cooed, and it was so uncomfortably close to my thoughts that I couldn’t help the way I snapped back.
“Are you done?”
As we pulled into my parking lot, Derek just waved off my hostility, recognizing it as nothing but misfired shame and anguish at the thing I wanted being out of my reach.
“Yeah, I’m done. I hope you had fun, even with the teasing.”
I chose not to dignify the second half of the statement, climbing out of the car like I couldn’t step away from the conversation fast enough. But of course, I knew that only made my guilt more apparent. My culpability was clear and conclusive. There was no argument to be made.
“You know I’m right!” he shouted just before the door shut. A final reminder, one last cautionary call for the beast inside of me to keep itself hidden lest I allow myself to sink my teeth into something pure.
“Goodnight!”
Few things changed when I reached the confines of my apartment walls. Fantasies had only devolved into a vividness that was borderline frightening. How easily I could get lost in visions of her, only promising my return in exchange for my imagination agreeing to become a reality that I would get a chance to experience.
But that wasn’t fair to her. She was just a girl doing her job with an astounding amount of patience and understanding for her hopeless romantic of a boss. For a moment, the guilt became so overwhelming that I let it win. I managed to swallow my newly acquired memories well enough to navigate my nightly routine without wishing she was there every step of the way.
Wishing that she would call me. That she would grant me the excuse to return to her, to touch her as freely as I had earlier. I imagined a world where, upon arriving to her destination, she invited me in.
As I collapsed on my bed, I wondered if she would have preferred the privacy of my home. A place far enough away from other students and academics to finally see me as something more than a superior. Something attainable in a way she never seemed to be.
Just as I closed my eyes to give in to the dreams, my phone buzzed. The sound set off every nerve in my body, all of them very poorly coordinating to allow me to grab the device and turn it on to reveal her name.
“Hey Professor! I just wanted to let you know that I got home…”
I’d never opened a notification so quickly, but I should have waited. I should have paused and taken the time to notice that what I was opening wasn’t just a collection of letters and symbols.
It was a set of pictures.
Pictures of her.
“Safe and sound and zippered up. No hypothermia for this bunny tonight,” she tagged onto the end, “Sweet dreams!”
How could I ever dream of anything but her? How was I meant to turn off my phone now, knowing that she was there; her drunken, lustful stare on display? I only tore my eyes away from her face long enough to notice her surroundings. I took extensive, painstaking notes on the color of the sheets on her bed and the way the zipper I’d tugged at to control myself from taking her had fallen away again.
I could feel the softness of her skin against my knuckle again. I heard the way her breath nearly broke at the force with which she sucked in air at the feeling of me touching her. How hard she pressed herself against me, how her back arched when I held her and how she never even tried to stop my hands from finding new places to rest.
They worked diligently now, too, trying to keep her awake and with me for as long as I could, but also wanting to free myself of obligations so that she wouldn’t notice how long I’d stared at the pictures she’d sent.
“Goodnight, little bunny,” I sent before adding, “I’ll be counting rabbits instead of sheep tonight.”
As if to reward my efforts, another picture flooded my screen. Her face was scrunched up in an adorable innocence, half covered with her hand but still effortlessly beautiful.
I stopped myself from responding again. I forced myself to stop, to prevent treacherous hands from calling her and begging her to let me come to her. It wasn’t fair — it was manipulative, downright evil, even — to take advantage of her inebriated state to hoard any insight she might provide.
But she’d already sent these… So, would it be so wrong to indulge in her? By touching my own body to the thought of her, would I taint her? Did I care even if it did? Maybe it was for the best to plant the seed of impurity now, to strip her of her power over me.
But deep down, I knew that I would still want her. I would still wish that the hand that sneaked beneath the sheets belonged to her. I could almost feel it as my hand traversed familiar territory. It would be new for her, and it would be new for me to feel the delicate, unmarred skin of her palm slowly sliding down my stomach. Her fingers bashfully brushing through soft curls at the base of me, still too nervous to hold me the way I needed her to.
Her face would be buried in my shoulder, with dew from her breath wetting my neck and raising the hairs on my arms. I would take her hand in mine and guide her to wrap her trembling hand around my cock.
Just like I was doing to myself now, with my other hand still holding the phone displaying the image of innocence. My hand wasn’t as soft or inexperienced as hers would be, but as long as my eyes stayed on her half-lidded gaze staring back at me, I could pretend.
I could hear her panting my name— my real name, Spencer— in my ear, praising the feel of silky skin beneath her fingertips. She would whisper about how she wanted to feel it elsewhere, too. She would beg for me to replace a hand for her most precious place.
That damned angelic girl showing her hand on the zipper would beg me to steal away her innocence. She would unveil herself slowly, knowing that I needed the time to memorize every inch of her skin as it was seen by another for the first time. Seen by me, and only me. The vision would be for my consumption and indulgence.
I wanted it. I wanted her.
My stomach tensed as I pictured the girl staring back at me straddling my hips. I stroked myself harder, faster, letting my thumb trace down her body on my screen.
If I stole it from her, would it be mine?
Would she be trapped as I was, only able to feel anything when I was with her? Would she dream of me? Would she cherish each and every memory of my touch and play it back in her mind? When she felt the urge to break and burn, would she picture my hands lighting the match?
If I ruined her, would she be mine?
I pictured the girl on the screen with tears in her eyes, her mouth stuck open in a silent scream and her hands clutching desperately to mine. I imagined how tightly her body would grip me as I fucked her. How hard it would fight the intrusion of my sinful touch. How I would hold her down despite the resistance until she gave in to me. Until I broke her, thoroughly and irreparably.
She would be mine.
That was the thought that took me over the edge, all energy that was not delegated to my hand feverishly stroking my cock remained with my other hand to hold her picture in front of me. It never even wavered, never once shaking and risking losing any clarity. Even my eyes refused to close all the way.
She would be mine.
The warm, sticky mess of my desire coated my hand and stomach, but all I could think was how it would feel to mark her as mine. To feel the excess drip back down my cock as she collapsed against my body. To know that she would never be the same, never be wholly herself again. That she’d let me inside of her soul and that when I left, I hadn’t left empty handed.
She was already mine.

🌸 Ask box open WOOOOO, could I ask for Beidou, Diluc and others of your choice, with someone who is exceptionally gifted with animals, and loves nerding out about them🌸
zoology
Warning -> SFW (Beidou - long hair mentioned)
Character X GN Reader | anthology
Includes: Beidou, Diluc, Ganyu
Beidou
She’s already so impressed with you - how could she not be considering how the two of you met
When she saw you fighting a group of smugglers on the docks of Liyue, your hands gripping onto the cages of the animals they were trying to take with them - not caring for your safety in the slightest and taking hit after hit in a desperate attempt to shield the animals inside
At that moment, she became your shield - your barrier between the harsh reality of the world and promised to keep you safe
That bright smile behind bruises and cuts as you watched the small creatures find their freedom once again was enough information for her to know what kind of person you were
Now, every time she returned to Liyue, she was excited to see your face or the sanctuary you had built from the ground up -- you were a human she wished to see more of
“Y/N? You in here?” She called out to you, her hand pushing past the beads which separated the outside from the in. Animals ran around her feet and, as carefully as she could, she stepped through them.
“A!H! Beidou??” Your voice called out to her, a crash sounding somewhere in the distance and a small curse following right after. When she found you, the state of your hair - frazzled and half-hazardly placed on top of your head - the long coat you liked to wear pooling beneath your feet as you worked to pick up the items that had fallen, and the reassuring expression you gave to the startled animals around you made her head swim and mouth stretch.
“Little friends, hold on. That was rather frightful, wasn’t it?” The tone you used was sweet and kind and she watched as a small fox stepped toward you before pressing its nose carefully against yours. “That’s right, see nothing to be worried about.”
When you caught sight of her, the grin that plastered across your face reached all the way into your eyes. “Need some assistance?” Beidou asked, extending her hand out toward you.
“I’ll always take some help from my favorite captain.”
Beidou would often bring you lost or injured animals - it was like you had a knack for helping them recuperate and on the days when she was around to see you release them back into the wild, well the energy that radiated off of you was stronger than a swing of her claymore
The knowledge that you had about them shocked her, enlightened her, and made her understood why they were so calm when near you -- to have that level of love and compassion for the creatures of the world meant your heart must be as pure as gold
Ganyu
Just like you, Ganyu has a high affinity to care for the creatures of this world. She has vowed to protect them just as much as you have, and her spirit feels kindred to your own -- like two wandering souls who found each other in a chaotic world
It was after a ‘not so eventful’ sparring match with the adeptis Xiao that she found you - quickly, she made her way to offer you assistance and when she found you holding onto an injured animal with tears in your eyes … she wanted to know more, so much more about you
The two of you raced off to get some aid, the small creatures shook the whole time in your arms, it scratched and bit at you - she could easily see the marks on your skin - but you continued to reassure it of its safety, never once did you react violently or alarmed at its behavior, and after some time it calmed down … it found a home with you and from that point on never left your side
The apartment which you decorated in the themes of the animals which you took in, or who visited you on a regular day, felt more like home than anything she’d ever seen -- the open windows, the coming and going of beings whose freedom was all their own, and the space you created for them was everything to her kind heart
The items in her hands were getting heavy, but she continued her way over the bridge knowing that the strain would soon be alleviated. The walk to your home was long, but not challenging and soon she found herself strutting down the path only to find you standing outside in the sunlight.
You were sitting on a small bench, one that you’d find tossed out by some store owner and had worked hard to bring home. Birds flocked to you, some resting on your head, others bouncing around your feet or over your thighs. They were eagerly eating up the crumbs of food that fell to the ground in even intervals.
“You must have flown so far to reach me.” The way your voice sounded brought comfort to all who heard it. A kind finger brushed against the chest of a bird who had settled onto your shoulder and when you pulled away it preened its feathers and made a soft chirping sound.
The birds took flight as Ganyu approached, their upset screams sounding as they settled onto the roof of your home. “Pleasant greetings.” Ganyu bowed, her head dipping slightly before returning to its normal place.
“Hiya!” You leaped from your spot and made your way toward her with unbound energy. “I didn’t expect you.”
“I uh - I brought you some things from the market.”
“Oh wow! How generous, thank you.” You reached for the extended back and let the straps rest over your arm. “Are you busy?”
“N-no, I have the day ---!” With gusto, you grabbed her hand and lead her toward the house. When you looked back at her it was like looking into the brightest star and Ganyu wondered how she got so lucky to have met you on that fateful day.
She learned much from you - like an endless wealth of knowledge you shared with her fact after fact and no matter how unique the animal, you still knew so much about it
There were many days where the two of you would just sit out on your porch and chat about the world outside
Nature and all its creations were so fascinating to you that it seemed you had lived much longer than one lifetime
Diluc
It's not that he … hated animals it was more that they never seemed to get along well with him. He couldn’t understand how someone could be so well-liked by the creatures that seemed to despise his very existence
“Just … If you’d only just leave, then we both wouldn’t be in this situation.” He called to the stray cat that had lodged itself in the corner of his bar. How it managed to get onto the upper shelves he would never understand, all that he knew was it wasn’t proper to have a cat as a patron.
He reached up to grab it but pulled his hands away when it hissed violently at him. “I can handle abyss mages, drunkards, and all manner of situations … yet it seems I am bested by a simple cat.” He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose as he contemplated his next steps.
There was a ringing at the front entrance and he turned toward the sound only to catch sight of you illuminated by the sunlight. “Hey there.” You smiled at him but he was much too irritated to return the gesture. “Your face is .. worse than normal.”
“I have a problem I cannot solve.”
“What is it?” You settled into the barstool, your arms crossing about your chest as you eyed him curiously.
“There is an unwanted guest here today, I and cannot get them to leave.” Your expression turned to confusion until you tracked the pointed finger to the corner of the bar.
“OH! A kitty!” Exclaiming, you immediately ran around to his side, not caring in the slightest of the sign that said ‘employee’s only.’ Grabbing the stool under the counter, you carefully stepped your way onto it and extended your hand to the trembling little one.
“Be careful, it’s quite viole --” In a matter of seconds, the cat had leaped into your arms and was softly purring away. Its face was in utter bliss as you gave it scratches under its chin. Diluc was stunned, nearly gobsmacked at the quickness of its trust toward you.
“Animals just like me.”
“So it would seem …”
There are people in this world that have an unnatural ability to create trust in seconds and you were one of them -- something about the aura you gave off, the energy that spilled from every fiber of your being told those around you there was no need to be distrustful of you -- and Diluc learned that early on
Not only were you able to tame the animals around you, but you tamed his unsteady heart --- he felt … comfortable, more like himself when you were around and was often drawn to your side when he didn’t expect it
The only problem was that you also drew animals to you - and most of them were quite protective of the space at your side, if he wanted to stay there, he was going to have to learn to relax a bit
Though it’s quite fun so see how tense he gets when they land on him … at least he always had you and his trust hawk to keep him company (if he could manage those relationships, he could manage a few more)

Tumblr media
In one’s own good time, your eyes begin to open only for you to suddenly cover them with the back of your hand due to the bright lighting that concealed your sight for a second before you separated your fingers to let some of the light pass through the gaps to let you adjust.
From what you could observe between your fingers, the sky from above seemed to display itself as if it was the reflection of the ocean that was down below on Earth since it was just a solid clear blue as if a painter decided that one colour was enough for their masterpiece while there was weirdly not a single cloud in sight.
It seemed too artificial for you.
However, for some odd reason, you felt weirdly strange. Even though you had just woken up from a nap, your body wasn’t as stiff as how it usually was when you would wake up, Fushiguro and Kugisaki could back you up on that fact since they always see you stretching for some time before proceeding to train again when Zenin called for you.
“Wait, where are they?” you muttered before you quickly sat up from your previous position to discover that your classmates were not right beside you under the tree where you three usually sat while taking a break from training, causing you to slowly look up to unexpectedly widening your eyes once you noticed the scenery around you.
At this moment in time, you seemed to be in a whole different location from what you remembered being at as you frantically turned your body around side to side to observe everything around you right now. Surrounding you was a vast field of purple hyacinths leading you to become completely perplexed on where you were and how you managed to get here while being asleep.
Steadily, you got up on your feet as you continued to examine your current surroundings only to discover that the only thing you could see was the blooming flowers that were surrounding you. Quickly, you looked up to finally notice there was no sun that was brightening up the sky and the area you were in, causing you to become more frantic as each second goes by.
“Where am I?” you questioned yourself in a whisper before finally turning back to face forward only to widen your eyes once again as your body began to lightly shake at the sight in front of you.
“Mother?” you quietly called out in utter disbelief at the display in front of you.
Although, it seemed like she wasn’t going to answer you at all. She was just standing there, letting the wind brush against the both of you while a few purple petals danced around you both leading you to become more puzzled than you originally were.
“Mother, it’s me,” you stated out slightly louder, thinking that you were maybe too quiet for her to hear you, only to receive the exact response that you had in the beginning. On the other hand, it seemed like the person in front of you had other ideas as the woman you assumed to be your mother started to take a step forward, yet you decided to take one step back slowly.
However, your mother continued to slowly and leisurely keep walking towards you as your footing was unexplainably now fixed onto the ground, as if vines grow out to hold them still, not knowing what to do since you weren’t even sure where to even go. There was nothing around you but purple hyacinths softening the situation that was happening, but that didn’t ease your nervousness that was sprouting within your stomach.
Without warning, your mother now stood in front of you with a deadpan expression painted on her face (void of all emotions) as her hand steadily reached down to grab a handful of the violet flowers that was enclosing you both causing you to reciprocate the same action before you both rapidly swang your arm around before suddenly pausing once you shockingly realised that your katana was now in your hand rather than the flowers your pulled out, leading your breath to halt in shock before shivering, once again, at a tiny cold feeling slyly being placed on your neck leading your eyes to shift slightly to the other side to discover a blade being pressed upon your flesh, leading you to look at your mother once again with a mix of doubt and bewilderment.
“What’s going on?” you asked with a hint of pleading within your shaken voice, only to unexpectedly spot a lone tear falling down upon her cheek catching you by surprise while a soft smile gradually appeared on your mother’s face.
“I’m so sorry…” your mother muttered with a hint of regret, leading you to become more puzzled only for that emotion to suddenly disintegrate the moment your mother violently slashed down upon your neck.
                                              ꕥ
Suddenly, your eyes widen in fear as your body immediately shoots up in pure shock as you attempt to catch your breath while frantically placing your hand on the side of your neck where your mother assumingly slashed with her blade if it was a real situation.
“Gojo!” someone called out, causing you to look up to see Fushiguro and Kugisako running towards you with worried expressions on their faces to which lead you to begin looking around the area to recognise your now familiar surroundings as the massive field purple hyacinths were nowhere to be seen.
“What’s wrong?” Kugisaki asked in a panic as she crouched down to your level, leading you to look at her before exhaling really slowly to calm your rapid heart as well as your linger shock at what just occurred in your dream.
“Sorry, I just had a really bad dream, that’s all,” you answered with a small smile, hoping that would ease her anxious face to which it slightly did. However, you knew it wasn’t enough to fully remove the feeling that your classmate had within her stomach.
“Do you want to talk about it?” Fushiguro asked, only for you to turn to look at him before shaking your head as you then steadily processed to lay back down on to the grass as your head landed on your track top that you were using as a pillow.
“Does your neck hurt?” Fushiguro questioned you once again, as he placed a hand on top of the one that was currently pressing against it leading you to shake your head once again, before placing the same hand back down onto your stomach.
Fushiguro and Kugisaki eyed you suspiciously before taking the decision to sit beside you keeping you company since it seemed like you really needed it right now, even if you didn’t mention it to them.
When they saw you sprung up from your sleeping position, they assumed that you had woken up and was ready to train with them again since Zenin gave you a break due to you fighting all of them consecutively with the individual as well as team combat fights since they really needed to replicate the situations that would likely happen in the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event. However, the second they noticed the pure shock and horror that was painted upon your face, Fushiguro and Kugisaki instantly knew something was wrong.
Although, what they had learnt from being with you for the past few weeks to nearly two months was that you were quite the reserved person and never really wanted to display any vulnerability to anyone - even those you considered teammates/comrades - and to be honest, you were an expert on hiding every emotion that showcased any kind of emotion that made you feel unprotected.
It was just that this one time you lowered your guard.
To them right now, that was what you were doing. You were just peering at the green leaves above you with an emotionless expression as it seems you were in a trance.
What were you thinking? Were you okay? What was the dream about? How can we help?
That was what they wanted to ask you, yet they knew you were never going to give them the answers that they wanted, you were the type that would help others but didn’t allow them to help you. It was as if you didn’t want to rely on them...but why?
As she continued to think about the possibilities of what seemed to be your trust issues, Kugisaki couldn’t help but shift her body forward before gradually lowering herself to lay next to you as if she was going to take a nap, causing Fushiguro to look at her in confusion.
“Gojo, you know...being with you is quite amazing and it’s so much fun since we’re the only girls in our year, I feel a bit bad for Maki-san,” Kugisaki rambled before turning her head to face your direction, only to see you still looking at the same direction. “I wanted to thank you for training me since I know I have gotten so much better with your guidance, but I want you to rely on me as well,” Kugisaki mentioned with a bright smile as she turned back to look at the leaves above the both of you.
‘Rely on...’ you thought, as you continued to stare upwards.
“Oh! We should get some bubble tea tomorrow since we have an off day tomorrow, right? You know the one we saw when we went shopping last week, I wonder how it tastes,” Kugisaki suggested, leading you to give a side glance before slowly letting the corners of your lips lift up slightly to form a small smile.
‘Talking away to make me forget huh?’
“Sure, I don’t mind,” you quietly answered as you processed to close your eyes once again, surprising Fushiguro and Kugisaki as they didn’t expect you to talk at all. However, before they could even get another word in, they noticed that your eyes were shut causing them to wonder if you were going to back sleep or were just closing them for the sake of closing them.
During this time, Fushiguro decided that he would do the same as he steadily moved his body forward before laying down once he ensured that he had enough space for his back, joining you and Kugisaki in your relaxing session.
However, as your classmates were resting with the gentle winds breezing by with the sunlight giving some warmth from the cold, they didn’t notice how your hand was gradually going back to your neck as internal dread slowly crept its way up to your whole body.
‘To you, what am I now mother?’ you asked internally as you casually opened your eyes again, only to notice that you were still at the Jujutsu Tech track field - slowly coming to the fact that this wasn’t another dream and you were really back.
‘Someday...will I never get that answer?’ you questioned yourself once again as your finger brushed along the skin of where the slash would have been leading to slight shivers to travel down your back as if your body remembered the feeling of her blade slicing down your neck.
Steadily, you processed to close your eyes again, enclosing yourself into the darkness that you were somewhat fearful of going back into again. However, there was no other way you could get away from the real world right now.
Yet, a single tear welled up in your eyes as it then proceeded to drop down to the side, just like how your mother was in that dream.

Safe Word.
⥴Summary: while you and Kuroo are going at it you have to pull the safe word. Here’s his reaction. ⥴Genre: NSFW 18+ ⥴warnings: Bondage, Dom/Sub dynamics (Daddy tilted used.), use of toys, degradation, rough sex, overstimulation, use of the safe word, creampie & squirting. ⥴Character(s): Kuroo Tetsurō x Fem!Reader ⥴Word Count: 2.8k
“Take it little kitten.”
You whimpered into the gag, unsure if you could as the large vibrating toy filled up every inch of your pussy. You couldn’t even wiggle to relieve some of the pressure, due to your wrists being bound to the bar that held the delicate ball gag firmly in your mouth. Your legs had been forced open by silky red rope, which had been expertly placed over your skin to keep you secure
And under his complete control.
Kuroo watched the way you pleaded with your eyes, he watched the way your dripping core gripped the vibrator so tightly it twitched within your walls. Slowly it pushed it self free, only to be pushed back in with his nimble index finger. It felt like he had been doing this for hours, slowly teasing you and fucking your throbbing pussy with such a toy.
He had brought you to the edge dozens of times, but never brought you over. Leaving you panting, trembling, desperately begging for release as drool freely dribbled down your chin. “M-mmph~” You attempted to whine at him, eyes glassy and pleading for release as your hands balled into fists beside your head.
“If you can’t even handle this vibrator how are you gunna handle daddys cock kitty? Maybe your little pussy can’t handle it and daddy will have to fuck your mouth instead. Do you want that baby?” He asked in a low tone, his one hand continuing to slowly work the vibrator in and out of you as his other traveled to your chin. He slowly gathered some of the drool onto his thumb, bringing to his own lips to suck it clean. The lewd action had you clenching up around the vibrator harder, your eyes fluttering as you desperately shook your head. You needed to have him in you, filling you up and allowing the release that had been sitting on the surface the whole session.
A wicked smirk curled on Kuroos lips as he ate up your desperation, seeing you like this making his cock pulse. “Okay baby okay... Daddy will give you what you need...~” Ever so slowly he pulled the vibrator from you, your back arching a bit as the slick pop sounded around you. Your pussy clenched desperately at the air now, begging to be filled again as you watched with glossed over eyes, Kuroo licking up all your slick from the vibrating toy. He pushed it between his lips, his eyes fluttering as he moaned around it. He knew you were watching every second, desperate for him and attempting to beg despite it coming out as muffled moans and whines. He finally pulled the toy from his mouth, looking down at you with a devilish smirk as he slowly rose to his knees before your bound form.
“Sweet as always Kitten. You look so needy... such a desperate and pathetic little slut aren’t you...?” He cupped your chin, causing you to whine as you were forced to stare him directly in the eye. His free hand slithered down your damp and trembling form, fingers pausing to rest against your swollen and stretched entrance. Slowly he pushed two digits in, watching the way the tears finally spilled from your eyes and fresh drool pressed past the gag. “Crying like a lil whore... what a pretty little slut you are kitten. Ready to be fucked senseless by Daddy hm?You want Daddy to fuck you up right baby..?” Your eyes say it all, begging and pleading with him as you give a subtle nod, a whimper filled with desperation.
He gives you a grin so large it has you shivering. His fingers easily slip from your centre, and without hesitation he pushes his hard length in to the hilt, stopping when his hips lay flush against your slick thighs. The action has your back arching, nails digging into your palms as he fills you up so deliciously. He stays still just like that, teeth gritting as his fingers press deeply into your hip bones. Slowly he rolls his hips in a circle, causing more tears to spill as you squirm, babbling into the gag. He continues this slow rotation, ignoring your complaints as he ever so slowly stretches your already slick and used entrance. He only stops when he finds that one spot, the one that has you clenching up around him, arching your spine in a sweet curve.
“M-mmph~!”
“That’s it kitten..~” he whispers through a moan, before the pounding began. Kuroo was ruthless, rutting into your sweet spot directly and causing your eyes to roll back into your skull. He was getting unhinged almost instantly, fingers creating purple bruises along your hips as he gripped ever so tightly, moans freely spilling. White hot flashed over your vision as you lost count of the times you came. They all merged into one another, an endless line of waves hitting your body as he pounded and pounded. Kuroo growled out in carnal desire, each wave causing you to clench around his cock so sweetly, milking out his own pleasure and brining him closer and closer to busting.
Your body was twitching uncontrollably, your face contorting into one of displeasure from the sheer over stimulation. Being held on the edge for so long as you toppling so fast, your body couldn’t keep up. Kuroo noticed the subtle change and slowed his pace, but didn’t stop just yet. His brows furrowed as he was quick to unlatch the cuffs. In three quick clicks the bar was loosened, freeing not only your wrists but allowing him to pull the ball from your swollen lips.
Saliva stuck to it as you inhaled a deep breath, sputtering over yourself as you whimpered softly. “Check in baby girl, check in honey...” his voice had gotten audible softer, along with his thrusting. His palm now gently held your cheek, making sure you looked at him as you rasped out. “Y-Yellow...”. As soon as you spoke Kuroo froze in place, eyes widened a bit before they were filled with compassion.
“It’s okay baby... was it too much? Too many orgasms in a row?” He cooed softly, leaning in to place a couple of peppered kisses along your tear stained cheeks. He kept his hips completely still, despite his cock pulsing and twitching and begging to continue. You nodded slowly, unable to find your words as you whimpered softly, leaning into his gentle touch. You hadn’t expected it to be so overwhelming, and you felt a little embarrassed to have to use the safe word. But Kuroo took it well, continuing to whisper soft and reassuring words against your skin.
You calmed after a few moments, your breath finally levelling out despite the uncontrollable trembles your body had. You met Kuroo’s gaze again, cheeks flushed as you gave him a small smile. “I-I’m okay...”
“Are you sure princess?? If you need more time I’ll wait okay?” He was so soft now, a complete demeanour change from the domineering, teasing and pounding man he had been minutes earlier. You lifted one your trembling palms to his cheek, cupping it as he turned to place tender kisses along your bruised wrist. The action had you letting out a breathy giggle, waiting until he looked to you before answering. “I promise I’m okay... I-I want to keep going...” your last statement was a little softer, biting down on your lip softly as you saw the lust swim back into his Vision.
Kuroo had to take a shaky breath to compose himself, gently rising once again to his original position. “Okay Kitten, you want the cuffs back on? Or the gag?” He asked gently, his amber eyes staying glue to your face to see how comfortable you were. You could feel the warmth from earlier slowly rising through your body again as you tried to find your words to respond. “I wanna hold you.. b-but can... can you put a gag in... please...”
He couldn’t even help but purr softly at the innocence laced in your tone, his playful smirk coming back as he licked along his lower lip. “Such nice words kitty. I would call you a good girl but you forgot something.. please what?” He stated with his brows cocked, his smirk growing as he watched you become flustered beneath him. He still reached over to the bedside table, retrieving the familiar red ball gag he knew was your favourite. “P-Please Daddy..~” you spoke gently, your back arching a bit in excitement and your pussy fluttering around his cock once more at the sight of the familiar toy.
“Good girl.. and what about this kitten?” His fingers dusted over the bright red ropes that held firm to your thighs, keeping them apart and spread. “You wanna keep them?” He asked, one finger trailing over the interact knots he made earlier in the session. You nodded, eager to finish now as you could feel his cock pulsing within your slick walls. “Y-Yes Daddy they can stay.”
“Mmm.. good girl... check in.” He asked one last time, his eyes narrowing as he dragged the ball against your lower lip. You whimpered at his familiar teasing, the words babbling from your mouth. “Green, Green Daddy Gre—“
He pressed the ball between your lips before you could finish, earning him a muffled moan. He watched the way your eyes dimmed, fluttering with anticipation as he tightened the leather strap behind your head, securing the ball to leave your jaw throbbing ever so slightly. “What a pretty picture...~” he mused, fingers dragging over the ball to teasingly press it further between your clenched teeth. You whined at him, arms reaching forward to grasp at his shoulders.
He allowed the transition, one hand cradling the back of your neck to press your chest flush against his. With your legs still being forced open it allowed him to scoop you into his lap, his cock still sitting comfortably within your warm walls. With your fingers gripping at the nap of his neck, gently curling into his usually messy black locks you gave him a look of pure need, wiggling your hips and ripping a gentle hiss from his throat.
“Oh naughty girl... starting before Daddy gets the chance.” He gave her one last grin before the hand cradling the back of her neck gripped tightly, long fingers pressing into her delicate flesh as he roughly pushed forward. “M-mmph~!” Your eyes widened in shock at the sudden jut, feeling his length jab into your core and slap right against your sweet spot. The look had him moaning, continuing to jut his hips forward over and over. The wet slapping sound echoed like music in Kuroos ears, as he glanced down for a moment to watch the way your pussy swallowed up his whole cock with each thrust. He could feel how soaked you were, you desperately clenched about him just after a couple thrusts.
And he loved every second of it.
He gripped tighter at your neck while his free hand traveled along your front. His fingers tweaked at one your erect nipples, pinching the delicate bud as he watched the drool begin to dribble down your chin all over again. “Look at you, falling apart and becoming a slut for Daddy’s cock in seconds... you like when I fuck you like this kitten? You like it when I fuck you into a drooling, trembling mess?” His words were low and dangerous, slipping out between grunts and moans as he pounded into your pussy. You could only whimper and babble into the gag, eyes rolling back and body bouncing on his lap.
He brought his forehead close to yours, your nails digging into his skin and threatening to break the flesh the harder he pounded. Kuroo knew he wouldn’t last much longer, his cock twitching for release as it pressed further and further into your heated walls. Licking at his drying lips he picked up the pace, somehow rutting into your core harder to elicit high pitched noises to slip out past the ball. “Daddy’s gunna cum soon kitty... you wanna cum with me~?”
He whispered his words against your cheek, his eyes glowing with desire as his tongue reached out to lick slowly across the rubber ball. You watched with fluttering eyes, your core clenching tightly around his cock from such a lewd act. You nodded, wanting to cum again, along with him, be filled. “Eager lil thing... cumming yet again... cum all over my cock pretty girl.” His tone held demand in it as he narrowed his gaze, his hand squeezing at your throat while the other suddenly pressed into your swollen clit.
Your back arched wildly, body pressing flush to his damp chest as he pressed further and harder onto your clit, ruthlessly rubbing circles into it as he continued to pound. He moaned, growled, all while staring, watching the way you whimpered and cried muffled pleas. Fresh tears stained your face as your release squirted from your over stimulated pussy. The juices covered both Kuroo’s and your abdomen, along with soaking the skin of his lap. The feeling had him groaning out loud. “Oh fuck yea~” he growled, unhinged as he finally released his load, shooting thick strings one after the other.
Kuroo was panting out loud as he rode out his high, his thrusts slowing. He looked into your eyes, now dimmed and barley open as you panted desperately through your nose. His gripped loosened as he slowly lowered you back into the bed, his fingers quick to unclasp the ball gag. It popped from your swollen lips, a shaking breath leaving you as he swiped his thumb over your bottom lip to collect left over drool. “How are you feeling kitten... are you okay?”
His own voice was corse as he slowly pulled out. Both of you winced softly, his eyes widening a bit as he looked at the beautiful mess. Your bodies glistened with the slick that you had released, along with a milky white mixture seeping from your open core. The sight had goosebumps forming on his skin, making his arousal wash over him all over again. He was shaken from such thoughts when you spoke softly.
“D-Daddy...~” He softened as you spoke, his palm gently cupping your used pussy and giving it a soft pet. “Yes Kitten? You okay?” You shiver from such a gentle touch, your core tingling. “Can you untie my legs now please?” Kuroo actually chuckled softly at this, his classic, goofy chuckle that broke his dominant persona every once and a while “Shoot, right. Sorry kitty. I’m on it. Just relax.” He cooed softly, his fingers quickly working away the knots he had formed around your flesh. As each knot came loose light bruising could be seen along your skin, and slowly you stretched your legs out in order to get some sensation back into them. Once the last knot was undone he gently massaged out your skin, leaning in to place gentle kisses along your thighs and shins.
“Better baby?” He asked, hands slowly sliding back up your sides. You nodded at him, giving a lazy smile as a yawn slipped past your swollen. Kuroo leaned in and pressed a tender kiss to your forehead, before his hands wrapped about you to scoop you into his arms. “You can sleep soon honey okay? Lemme clean you up.” And despite your whines and yawns you obliged.
He prepped a warm bath, gently scrubbing away the sweat, slick and smell of sex from both you and him. He was always soft, fingers petting along bruises and lips peppering kisses whenever his lips landed. His goofy self came out as well, using his soapy hands to slick his wide hair into a Mohawk. He grinned at you, earning a chorus of giggles from you. He combed out your damp hair, smiling from the gentle purring noises you released from such an action. He carried you back to the bedroom, placing you on the dresser as he changed out the dirty sheets. By the time he was finished up you were almost asleep sitting up, nuzzling into the over sized sweater he had slipped you into.
“Fuckin’ adorable.” he spoke out between a chuckle, scooping you back up and littering your face in kisses. You responded with soft giggles, a light blush covering your cheeks as the two of you finally settled into bed. Letting out a deep sigh you nuzzled into Kuroo, finally allowing your eyes to shut.
“Love you Tetsuro...” you mumbled softly, barley awake. He did one of his classic grins, holding you close as he whispered a response into your damp hair.
“Love you too Kitten.”

Rowaelin “Empire of Storms” fanfic
So, uh, after realising that i’m low key envious of all the smutty goodness of Silver Flames and rowaelin being absolutely robbed of smutiness due to the books being ~young adult~ over the past few days i’ve written rowaelin smut “during” empire of storms because well, that is the most sex heavy between aelin and rowan and so while i’m super nervous cause i’ve never written smutty fanfic, i’m gonna post it on here if you wanna read it, so, uh, enjoy, i guess. also, there’s a bit of fluff at the end cause well, i wanted some fluff lol
also, all characters belong to Sarah J Maas, I’m not getting a cent writing this, this is literally just me writing smut because we were robbed of smut!!
also, like, i’m not sure if some of the stuff i’ve written i’m not sure if it would happen between rowan and aelin but i was bored and sex can be fun so i decided to have some fun
Aelin wanted to try something tonight.
She finished drying herself off with the old, course towel provided by the crew-mates when she and her Court came aboard the ship. With the amount of holes in the towel, she was waiting for it to fall apart while using it. But at least it was clean.
Aelin hung up the towel and used a frayed strip of leather to try her short her back. She didn't want it to get in the way tonight, because she wanted to focus on her plan and to not to be distracted by her hair.
Aelin bought a smile onto her face as she opened up the bathing room door and leaned against it. Rowan was lying down in the bed, his arms crossed behind his head as he stared up at the roof of their cabin.
His pine green eyes moved from the roof and onto her. And widened slightly at the sight of her naked body. His eyes roamed her body, lingering on the apex of her thighs.
Aelin's smile became feline at the lust dancing in his eyes, his scent of arousal filling up the cabin. Mingling with hers.
“Fireheart,” he said, his voice rough.
Aelin moved away from the door and came close to the bed.
“I want to try something,” she said. “Move into the middle of the bed.”
Rowan did as she asked, curiosity in his gaze.
Aelin moved the bed sheet out of the way, her gaze drinking him in as he did with her. She climbed atop of him, their skin barely touching.
Rowan's lips met hers, his hands going to her scarred and tattooed back. He bit her lip and she opened her mouth for him, their tongues dancing together. With this kiss, she almost forgot what she had planned to do but when she felt his cock twitched against her skin, she remembered and smiled.
“What is it that you're planning to do?” Rowan asked against her mouth.
Aelin grinned, becoming more excited. “This,” was all she said as she planted kisses against his cheek, his neck—which she fought to sink her teeth into him. Later, she promised herself, she would bite him later.
She moved down his body, scrapping her teeth over his nipples—for which she got a hearty groan at the ministration—and continued kissing him until she got lower and lower to where she wanted to be.
Rowan realized it, too. “Aelin, you don't—” he started to say, but she cut him off.
“I want to,” she said. And she did, quite badly. She realized only this morning that she had never pleasured him with her mouth. She pleasured him with her hand a few times all ready—with the most recent being this morning. She kissed him with feather light touches, but her hand went fast and hard against him.
When he came, she looked him in the eyes and licked his seed off her hand and his answering kiss with savage, and it seemed that within moments of finishing him, he was inside her, pounding away, her legs spread wide, his tongue deep in her mouth, with Aelin half-moaning and half-laughing at his eagerness. And when she climaxed, it felt never-ending.
Aelin couldn't get enough of Rowan, and she knew that he felt the same.
She knew why, wanted to tell him exactly why, but she couldn't. Not until the time was right.
Casting those thoughts aside, Aelin took his considerable length in her scarred hand and moved it up and down, not as rough as this morning, but hard enough that he was getting harder with every moment that passed. “Besides, you were the one that told me that you've been wanting to do dirty things with my mouth,” Aelin said, her grin devious, “isn't this one of those dirty things?”
“Yes,” was all Rowan said, the scent of his arousal growing. A thrill of pleasure sneaked down her back at the sight of Rowan, his head thrown back against the pillows, his eyes closed and face glowing with pleasure and she had barely started.
Aelin just wanted to watch him, watch him moan from her touch, but she wanted to know how he tasted, how he felt, in her mouth and with that, she finally took him into her mouth, her thumb on her free hand circling his testes.
Rowan went still at the feel of her mouth around him, the feel of her tongue swirling around and caressing him.
He was sure that his heart was going to stop as Aelin took him deeper into her mouth, her teeth grazing lightly against him. His soul quickly left his body as he felt himself at the back of her throat and held that position for what felt like eternity and moved back up to the head of him.
Aelin's tongue swiped against his head and planted kisses on the side of him, her hand again moving up and down on him. She took his testes in her mouth, gently sucking, her hand becoming more rough.
Rowan's groans could have been heard all the way to Terrasen.
Aelin was going to be the death of him. He was over three hundred years old, survived countless wars and tragedies, and this was what was going to end him. Not swords or arrows or magic, but his Fireheart's tantalizing mouth.
Not that he was complaining, his groans were obvious of that fact.
He did, however, have to stop himself from thrusting over and over into her wet mouth. This was purely Aelin exploring him and he would let her explore him for as long as she wanted—or for as long as he could last—but he couldn't stop himself for asking for more, his voice an animalistic growl.
Aelin gave him more, her teeth grazing against him more roughly, her head moving up and down him a bit faster, her tongue a constant dance against him—Gods, that tongue. Her fingers rolling his testes around, her nails scrapping against the sensitive skin.
Aelin's moans were beautiful and Rowan was lost in the touch of her, the scent of her, the...everything that Aelin was.
The vibrations of Aelin's moans had the pressure building. Part of him wanted to drag himself out of her inviting mouth and slam himself inside of her, but the stronger part of him just wanted to stay here. To stay on this creaking boat with his Fireheart, the world nothing but a speck to them, and to stay in bed with her forever until they passed.
He couldn't stop himself from giving a single thrust, the head of him touching the back of her throat.
Aelin's answering moan made him wanted to do it again, but he forced himself still, his hips flexing from that force.
Needing to distract himself, Rowan glanced down at her through hazy eyes and saw that some of her hair came free. With a shaking hand, Rowan brushed it back and Aelin smiled at him with her eyes. The sight of her tongue peeking out of her mouth, the sight of his cock coated from her saliva and the scent of her arousal built the pressure until he could barely breathe. He felt the tips of her canines pressing into his sensitive flesh and he wanted nothing more then for Aelin to bite down on him, mark him there so that she knew he was completely hers, to let her know that he had never entertained that idea before, never let anyone else do that, but before he could say anything, she went back to grazing him with all her teeth. Faster and faster, she took him, her strong thighs pressed together, taking him to the back of her throat, her tongue never stopping.
Rowan never wanted this to stop and he found himself thrusting into her mouth a few more times, Aelin happily humming around his cock.
Rowan started to say her name, but could only muster a deep groan from his chest as he climaxed and his seed shot down her throat. His cock pulsated gloriously in that beautiful mouth of hers and Aelin almost climaxed at the sensation.
Aelin didn't stop and Rowan wondered if she was aware of what just happened until she took one last drag of him and removed him from her mouth. She smiled as she swallowed, her eyes bright.
“Gods, Aelin,” Rowan breathed. “That was...” he trailed off, struggling to find a word that could possibly describe how good that was.
“I know,” Aelin said confidently. She climbed upwards, until her face was level with his and seeing how flustered she had made him made her blood sing.
Rowan kissed her, their tongues once again dancing. The taste of his seed was strong in her mouth. She never wanted the taste of him to leave her.
Aelin broke away, ready to bite his throat as she wanted to do earlier, when she glanced at her prince, his smile dreamy, bringing warmth to her face, knowing that she had undone him so thoroughly.
His fingers danced up her thigh, his free hand moving her body so that she was astride him. Aelin looked down, but his cock was still limp and it only took her a moment to realize what he was doing as he slid two thick fingers inside of her.
Aelin rode his fingers roughly, imagining that it was his cock in her, her groan hearty as Rowan slipped in a third finger and curled them slightly, hitting a strong spot inside of her. Their mouths met and Aelin's thoughts became consumed with Rowan's fingers and tongue.
Aelin climaxed, the sensation going from the roots of her hair to the tips of her toes. She stilled and Rowan removed his fingers. All ready, she missed the feel of him.
“Open your mouth,” Rowan breathed and Aelin did as he said and closed her mouth against his fingers, tasting herself.
Rowan's cocked twitched again, burning the image into his memory.
He wished that they were in Orynth and in a big bed to show her all the things he knew. They wouldn't leave that bed for years.
Soon, they would be there soon after the oncoming war and they could spend their lives together.
“What are you thinking about?” Aelin asked, seeing the contemplative look in his bright eyes.
Rowan didn't want to upset her with thoughts of war, wanting to keep that warm glow on her face, so all he said was, “You.”
“Aren't you a sweet buzzard?”
Rowan snorted and laid Aelin down, the heat in her eyes and the need for her strong in his blood. Rowan kissed down her toned body, lingering on particularly wicked looking scars, until he placed himself at her core, sliding his tongue into her slick warmth, Aelin's moans ringing through his ears like clear bells. Rowan's tongue moved fast inside of her, his thumb against her clit, rubbing roughly. The scent of blood found its way to Rowan and he glanced upwards, seeing that Aelin had bit through her lip. Rowan's thoughts were jumbled at the sight and her taste. Aelin climaxed, calling out his name huskily and became limp on the bed. Satisfaction rippled all over her.
Rowan straightened and wrapped one leg around his leg and the other over his shoulder and slowly started to enter her, Aelin breathing his name in a way that drove him wild, and brought himself to the hilt. Clenching tightly around him, Rowan had to bite his own damned lip to prevent the sound that wanted to escape him from finding a way out through his magic that he had placed around their room. He did that every time, he didn't want an audience, didn't want anyone else to hear the sounds that came out of Aelin, that came out of him.
And each time, Rowan found himself marveling at the feeling of Aelin wrapped around him. That each time, it felt like the first time on that beach.
Rowan hoped that this feeling never went away. He would make sure that it wouldn't, just as he knew that Aelin would do the same.
Dropping her legs from his body, Rowan swiftly exited from Aelin—to which she protested lightly—but he placed himself on this back and put Aelin on top of him. Wanting to watch her ride him. Wanting to watch as she guided his cock back inside of her, watch as her head fell back at the contact.
Placing his scarred hands on his generous hips, Rowan started to rock Aelin back and forward, but she soon took initiative, taking his hands off her hips and onto her breasts and rolled her hips in a way that drove him mad. He played with her nipples, pinching and twisting them as she liked and met her rolling thrusts with his own, pounding away into her.
Rowan came back to the matter at hand, as he tracked the movements of Aelin's fingers go from her neck, down her chest and down to where she wanted them. As Rowan and Aelin moved faster, Aelin rubbed at her clit as furiously as Rowan had done before—maybe even a little rougher.
Gods, just the sight of Aelin touching herself was enough for Rowan to want to combust, but he held on for just a little longer, not wanting to climax before she had.
Aelin's moans became pants as she lifted herself up and down on his cock as she worked her clit with her fingers, a light sheen of sweat covering her body as she rubbed herself faster and harder, their room filling up with the sounds of heavy breathing and the slap of skin on skin. Wanting to feel her beneath his fingers, Rowan quickly moved her fingers out of the way and rubbed as furiously as her. Aelin looked at him through heavy eyes and gave him a lust addled smile, not at all annoyed about taking over. She clenched tightly, causing Rowan to see stars.
A particularly hard thrust from Rowan was Aelin's undoing as she threw her head back and climaxed loudly enough that it found its way to Rowan's bones and he climaxed with her, his seed shooting out of him faster than he could fly.
Aelin shot forward, collapsing on his chest, breathing hard and covered in sweat, wrapping her arms around his neck as she placed her head on his shoulder as she breathed in his scent, her heart thundering in her chest.
Rowan's heart was thundering, too. He wrapped his arms around her and placed a kiss on her head, the leather band hardly holding any hair.
For long minutes they laid there, breathing in each other, trying to get their hearts to settle.
Rowan was so close to stealing Aelin away and to find a place that had never heard of the Valg or Maeve and was so secluded from this place that no one would ever be able to find them. It was selfish, utterly selfish, but he couldn't stop himself for thinking it.
Aelin kissed him right where his heart was and lingered.
And that was the moment that Aelin's stomach started to grumble. The sound loud enough to wake up even the deepest of sea creatures.
The suddenness of her hunger made Aelin laugh, covering her mouth with a hand. Rowan laughed along with her. Aelin adored his laugh, knowing that this laugh was reserved only for her.
“I didn't think it was possible to be fucked so thoroughly that you end up hungry,” she said, smiling against his deep tanned skin.
“Fucking takes up a lot of energy,” Rowan supplied, kissing her hair a second time, “I'll get us some food.”
Aelin's stomach growled again at the mention of food. “Some bread would be nice, with butter,” she said, “and some chocolate.” Chocolate would have truly been amazing. She couldn't remember the last time she ate some.
“I doubt that there's any chocolate, Fireheart, but I'll check anyway.” Gently, Rowan removed her from his body, his cock slipping at out her, and laid her on her back. Aelin glanced up at him, a small smile on her lips. She took the hand closest to her and pressed a kiss against it, causing Rowan's heart to stutter of the tenderness of the touch. Somehow, it felt more intimate than what they had just done.
Rowan stood and started towards the cabin door, but stopped as Aelin cleared her throat.
“Pants, buzzard, I wouldn't want you to stop anyone's heart at the sight of you.”
Rowan smirked and put on his undershorts in a purely male fashion that Aelin wasn't sure how he possessed that skill. She supposed it was something that only a three hundred year old Fae male could do.
She moved higher on the bed, getting comfortable against the pillows as Rowan's eyes found their way to the spot between her thighs, his eyes widening in desire as he saw how beautifully swollen she was. He saw that some of his seed had slipped out of her and coated the delicate flesh of her thighs making his blood dance through his veins at the sight.
Rowan wanted to get the food later, to stay in here longer, to go back into her again and again to the point that he thought that maybe he was going mad. He knew that what they had meant more to him that anything else and that he couldn't put a name to it, and Rowan started to wonder if it was what he thought it was but pushed that thought aside as Aelin's stomach growled—even louder, somehow—again.
“Rowan?” Aelin asked, curiosity lighting her eyes, wanting to know what he was thinking, but he simply shook his head and willed some of his magic wind into him, to clear his thoughts as he stared at his queen and gave her a smile meant only for her.
Aelin's heart skipped a beat at that loving smile.
“I'll be right back.”
XXX
With the magic of his wind, Rowan opened the door to their cabin as his hands were full from the trays from the kitchen. He managed to get the last dregs of the vegetable soup from dinner and some bread. There was no chocolate—unsurprisingly—and no butter but he did get them an apple each. They were a little soft in some spots, but still edible.
Aelin lazed on the bed, still naked, her skin creamy in the moonlight. Another image burned into his brain.
Gods, she was beautiful.
The door closed behind him and he gave her one tray and sat beside her on the bed. Aelin warmed up the soup and bread with her magic, the steam inviting.
The silence that enveloped them as they ate was beautifully comfortable. So comfortable in fact that Aelin stopped eating momentarily to give Rowan a kiss between bites.
“I love you,” she said.
His smile stopped her heart.“I love you, too.”
When they finished their dinner—Aelin having grumbled at the apple, to which Rowan told her to imagine her that it was a ball of chocolate—Rowan used his magic again to place the trays down in the corner of their room, not wanting to leave the warmth of the cabin, the warmth of his Fireheart.
They went to the bathing room, the space cramped with Rowan in it and cleaned themselves. Rowan took the old piece of leather, brushed her hair with his fingers and loosely braided her hair, his fingers weaving in and out the strands and committed the feeling to his memory.
“Your hair still isn't long enough for me to braid,” Aelin said and Rowan smirked.
“It'll take a few years for it to grow.”
“Then I'll have plenty of time to brush up on my braiding skills.”
“I dread the idea of what you'll come up with.” He tied the leather strap and placed a light kiss on the back of Aelin's neck, causing her to shiver. Rowan smiled at the reaction.
Aelin started back towards the bed and held out her hand for him to take. Quickly, he flung his undershorts off, not wanting anything to get in the way of their skin touching.
They went to the bed, which was half undone, but they didn't bother to fix it up as Aelin went to her spot on the bed.
Lying on her side, Rowan came up behind her, one arm going around her waist and the other around her shoulder and chest, his fingers resting on the other shoulder and moved closer to her so that their skin was touching. Aelin wove her fingers through the hand that held her on her waist and placed a leg between his. He pressed a kiss against her head, her scent enveloping him. Lulling him to sleep.
“Goodnight, Fireheart,” Rowan said,  and although he wanted to stay up all night pleasuring her, he could sense sleep coming over Aelin, her body melting at his touch. And dawn was not far away, and he knew that they both needed rest before they faced the new day.
“Goodnight, Rowan,” she mumbled, sleep moments away. “I love you,” she said again and Rowan would never tire of hearing her say that.
Rowan kissed her again, a smile on his lips. “I love you, too.”
She would never tire of hearing him say that, too.
They were meant to be, even if she was born three centuries later than him. He was hers and she was his and even death would not be able to separate them.
Aelin fell asleep and Rowan followed her not long after.
Rowan would follow her anywhere, as Aelin would follow him.

The pleasant mouth-watering aroma of Osamu’s nationally famed onigiri steamed above the kitchen stove. The scent was perfection to the nose, a smell that would have any normal person hypnotized in the direction of his local restaurant.
His recipes were delicious, somewhat of a delicacy that even Atsumu held to godly standards—standards that his twin brother always seemed to be able to meet. Standards that were nothing but small roadblocks in his drive to success.
Some would say that food was the way to a man’s heart, the physical gift being the greatest thing anyone could ever receive—but in his eyes, there was no need for presentation and delicacies to win his love.
As his love had already been won, it’d been won by her.
“What’re you up to?” She asked, arms snaking around his waist, face pressed against his backside as she admired the concentration he held while immersed in the ingredients in front of him. The smell was divine, that of his signature dish.
“Finishing dinner.” Osamu replied, holding a wooden spoon out to her, passing it as if to say that she was now his sous chef. Taking control of the utensil, Y/N maneuvered to see the beautiful food, feeling a deep hunger rumble in her stomach.
It was a daily thing, cooking together, being in each other’s company for as long as they possibly could after the long hours of their respective work days. He was her favorite sight to come home to—the gentle look in his eyes, puckered lips, and strong stature.
Yes, she was hungry—but her hunger wasn’t thinking of food.
He seemed to be thinking the same thing, staring at her rather than the inflamed gas stove, the fire in his eyes matching the hue of the flame—burning and passionate.
By some invisible force, they stepped towards each other in synchrony, bodies colliding as Osamu’s hands buried themselves in her hair, tangling the already messy locks into knots and weeds. His grip was tight, grounding the both of them, making sure their minds were still touching the ground.
His kisses were fervent, desperate and needy as her mouth danced against his, biting his lower lip in an attempt to deepen their connection—the wooden spoon in her left hand dropping to the ground with a hollow thud, whilst her palms held his face, pulling him closer.
“‘Samu.” She whispered against him, feeling his breath on her nose. Her heart was pounding fast, a million beats a minute as her chest began to heave, heavy breathing and all. “‘Samu, the food.”
Ignoring her concerns, he craned his neck down, peppering her neck with sparse kisses, sucking on her skin and creating waning spots of shadows. Closing her eyes, she let him continue, too distracted by the feeling of being in his arms to care about anything else.
They were addicted to the taste of each other, having a physical hunger that could only be satisfied through acts of love—acts of love that stemmed from their emotional connection. The kind of connection that could never be broken.
There was no one else quite like Osamu. Out of all of her relationships, there’d not been a single person that had ever been able to make her feel the way he did. How he pleased her needs and listened to her wants, following the steps of her unspoken recipe, never missing a beat.
As his lips trailed upwards, stopping at her chin and lingering, his lust-filled eyes meeting hers, she felt time stop. All that mattered was him, all that ever mattered was him and what he needed at that very moment, in that very second.
Wordlessly, they communicated through longing glances, foreheads pressed together, her lips nipping at his. She jumped up knowing that his arms would catch her, that he was always going to be the safety net to pick her up as she fell.
His hands held her tight, gripping her thighs and adjusting her weight to a comfortable hold. As her legs wrapped around his waist, clinging to his body like it was a support beam, her face leant down to meet his once more, his silver locks mixing with her own.
She’d never grow tired of the way his mouth moved with hers. The way he grabbed at her throat, large palm encircling her vocal chords, guiding her jaw towards his and passionately connecting their lips in repetition. He was the customer, and she was his four-course meal.
Gasping between kisses, she delved deeper, her already bruised lips fighting for control as she reached down, taking a hold of the bottom of his wine stained tee and yanked it to the ceiling—laughing as it flew across the room and into the sink’s dish water.
“Well, that’s one way to clean it.” She giggled, arms latched around his neck, hands rubbing the bare skin of his back. He really was the prettiest sight in the world, toned chest and tousled hair—not even a model could fare in comparison to his beauty.
Shaking his head in amusement, Osamu hoisted her up higher, her neck now having to crane down to meet his lips. “Yer ridiculous.” He more or less groaned between kisses, being fully consumed by her insatiable hunger, craving for more and more of her—wanting as much as he could get.
The world seemed hazy, a hallucination that only existed when they were the main characters—a mirage that came to life due to their passion and the overwhelming love that they felt. The overwhelming love that they’d communicate through stolen kisses and endless hours in bed.
“Gonna pay for that.” He mumbled, nodding at his soaked shirt that’d been abandoned amongst the dirty dishes, cringing as it sank beneath the tinted water’s depths. Though his eyes were distracted, his body was attending to her, reacting to the way she was leaving her own marks along his neck.
With a seductive look on her face, eyelids heavy and full of lust, she neared his ear. He felt his breath catch, an unexpected moan leaving his lips as she nipped his skin, whispering the one thing he’d been waiting for her to say—insinuating what he’d been getting at all along.
“Then make me pay.”
It was as if a switch had been flipped in Osamu’s brain, his muscles working overtime as his longings devoured her. The sound of her light squeal in surprise drove him further off the rails, igniting the flame in him that eternally burned for her and only her.
As their mouths molded together, familiarizing themselves with the already familiar taste of one another, he blindly made his way to what he assumed was the kitchen island, eyes closed in blindness to his endless love.
He set her down quickly, arms maneuvering around her in order to keep her attention, not noticing how he’d gone in the exact opposite direction that he’d meant to. Rather away from the divider and towards the bright and hot stove.
“Fuck!” She yelped, falling off of the counter and onto the floor, holding her bottom like her life depended on it. Her expression had evolved from pure ecstasy to an overload of red, hot pain.
Panic on his mind, Osamu kneeled down at eye level to her, and tried to think of any way to make her feel better—a way to apologize for his somewhat laughable mistake. Taking her palms in his, pressing kisses to the tops and closing them around his own, she seemed to relax for a moment.
“Let me draw you a bath?” He asked, hoping that the serene water and soaps would relieve her nerves of their stress, relax her into an easy slumber. An easy slumber that wouldn’t involve him getting his ass slandered when she’d awake—when she’d awake and immediately tell Atsumu all about it.
Pushing his shoulder back lightly and hanging off the side of the counter in an attempt to stand up, Y/N shook her head, finding the situation all the more hilarious. “I’ll draw myself my own bath, ‘Samu.”
“And you’re going to stay here and finish dinner—for real this time.”

Our Dearest Moments ||Alec Volturi x Reader||
Warnings: None, this is nice and fluffy
Words: 2964
Summary: A request for @royalvolturisblog    Forever is a long time to live, an occasionally a little reflection upon who we are and how we got here is needed to maintain our sanity, and decided some very important answers to equally as important questions.
Sometimes, life is not all we expect it to be. Sometimes, life is cruel. Sometimes, life is disappointing. For me? I can safely say it’s none of these things. My life had always been easy, the best of everything and wanting for nothing. As doting as he was, my father had spoilt me rotten and never let me work hard for anything, never given me life skills that most normal people would need to live a functioning, adult existence. Why would I need them? Money was not a problem for my family nor would it ever be, so why go to the hassle of building a life where a nine to five job sapped the life from me when I could, quite sustainably, simply enjoy my life to its fullest at my loving father’s expense? Why make your child work if there was no need? I would not settle for a subpar life as nothing in my life had ever been less than luxurious.
That was my life in a nutshell. It was flat screen TVs in a ginormous bedroom which would have fit some people’s houses inside it, four poster beds and every new games console, every makeup palette fresh off the manufacturers line and vacations to the most remote and lavish corners of the Earth. I never even had to ask for some of it, my father simply expected I would want things and provided them without request – as those of guilt soul are wont to do.
“Well? What do you say?” Alec asked, his lips pressing the gentlest of kisses against my shoulder. I hummed, leaning back against him.
“Forgive me, I was hardly listening to a word you said, my mind is…elsewhere.” I admitted. Alec squeezed my hips, arms widening around my waist to tighten his hold on me.
“You’re ignoring me now? How very rude. I thought we were passed this.” He chided, though his tone was more playful than scolding.
“Call it introspection.” I sighed. Alec chuckled.
“Introspection? Now that sounds dangerous. I happen to like you as you are, if you haven’t noticed.” He teased, pressing a kiss to my temple. I turned in his arms with a smile. He stood a little taller than I did but I didn’t mind; it always gave me the best angle of the soft curve of his jawline, the fullness of his lips that didn’t like to stray from my own for too long. It also gave me the perfect excuse to nestle my head against his collarbone, escape those all seeing crimson eyes of his. Alec had seen right through me from the very start.
“I happen to know, you inform me every day…you sap.” I smiled a little as he lifted a hand to play with my hair.
“Then why decide to be introspective? What is there to reflect on? What would you wish to change?” he questioned.
“I already have changed,” I pointed out, lifting my hand to play with his coven crest, “I actually work for a living now.” Alec actually laughed at that, pulling back to feign shock.
“You? Spoilt? I would never have guessed.” he teased. He wasn’t wrong. Even now my room was lavish, silks and fine fabrics and luxuries filling every corner, but at least this time I had worked for it. Being a part of the Volturi was a privilege in itself but it required hard work, it required proving your worth and working for the greater good of your species. It was rather odd, how I had turned my entire life philosophy around in the span of a few centuries. Maybe it was Alec, making me humbler and wiser. Perhaps I owed some of it to Vladimir and Stefan, who had taught me to fight for what I wanted rather than throw money at it. I could still remember that fateful day, though faces and names were murky now in my ‘old age’.
Samuel and Scott were two boys I had craved the presence of a lot in my human days, though I couldn’t honestly tell you why anymore. Perhaps it was the familiarity of money, or the comfort that came from knowing someone of your status and experience walked alongside you and understood your world view, but they were the closest friends I had for a long time. What was better than going on vacation with your friends at the closing of exam season? Rome had been beautiful, the sights enamouring and the food…I suppose it was okay – my tastebuds had changed since then. I could still vividly recall the kind of heat I wasn’t accustomed to back home, and the dazzling brightness of the sunlight that spotted my vision and made my ever blurry human memories seem even worse quality somehow. I also remembered laughter, and warmth, the kind of warmth that flooded your soul and felt like a good hug on the worst of days. It was strange, the things that stayed with you.
Then there was too much warmth. The process to immortalise one’s body came at the cost of burning the eternal soul till only a shell was left behind, petrified and cold. That was how Stefan put it at least in his usual, grim way. The memories of my time with them had most certainly been the most vivid, since I was very much a vampire by then and I could remember every little glance, every change in the tone of their voice. Those days….those days were full of anger. My doting father taken from me, my best friends none the wiser as to where I had gone and yet never once pleading on the news for my safe return as most others did for their loved ones. Through time and trial and error, Vladimir and Stefan had shown me that I had actually lost nothing in this life, only gained. I was stronger, swifter, better than any human version of myself could ever be.
Then came the gift.
It had been purely accidental at first. Another boy taken in by Stefan only to be turned (in what I would later find out was an attempt at raising a small army) was similarly gifted. He had the quite remarkable ability to make anything he touched smaller or larger, depending on what he wished it to look like, and unintentionally I had taken his gift to use for myself. He hadn’t stayed much longer after that, Vladimir and Stefan reluctant to let him part but allowing it – only because they knew the Volturi would send the Guard after an unruly newborn causing havoc. Why should they need him when they had me? They had been the ones to train my gift, an enhanced trait from my human life they had said – as I had taken what I wanted then I could do so now with startling efficiency. By the time Alec had arrived I had not truly gotten it under control, hence my confrontation with Jane.
It turns out the unruly newborn had been smarter than we thought, and the Masters’ had dispensed the Guard to see about this gifted vampire the Romanian’s had collected. At this point it had been months since we’d even seen the boy, years since Vladimir and Stefan had stolen me from Rome’s streets on one of their daring missions taking them close to Volturi territory. My gift had made me indispensable to them, though I like to believe that on some level they cared for me as a person, given all the gifts and birthday celebrations they had indulged in for me. There had been trips and movie nights all at my request, and affectionate gestures such as hugs and chaste kisses to my forehead that had lulled me into the false sense of security that I was where I ought to be.
“Your mind keeps wondering. I happen to be trying to ask you a very important question.” Alec was sounding a tad frustrated with me now and my eyebrows furrowed.
“I’m sorry, really, I just…do you ever have one of those days where you feel like you can’t escape thinking about the past? Thinking about the things that led you to this moment?” I sighed. It was perhaps a tad dramatic, perhaps even silly of me to be this distracted by such errant thoughts, but they wouldn’t leave me be. Alec stared at me for a long moment, and then he tucked a lock of stray hair behind my ear and swept me off of my feet to seat us on the sofa before our fireplace. Draped across his lap as I was, he had made me his sole focus and gave me his undivided attention now.
“I can’t say I do, so explain it to me. What are you thinking of in particular?” he questioned. My head tilted slightly, the briefest of smiles tugging at my lips.
“Demetri fixing up his nose the day we met.” I giggled. Alec snorted, eyes rolling.
“Vladimir did hit him rather hard.” He agreed. The commotion hadn’t much bothered me, my head buried too deep in my book to really be bothered by such trivial things, but then he had screamed. It was a blood-curdling kind of scream, the sort you heard in slasher movies when the victim is disposed of. It was the first time I had seen Jane’s gift in action, and the only time since I had stolen it. I had only meant to shove the menacing little blonde away from the man I had grown to see as a second father, only to accidentally set her own gift on her. She had crumpled like a straw doll, screaming all the while, and anyone else who came at me went down the same way.
Felix, Demetri and Jane just writhed on the stone floor while I tried and failed to keep Alec at bay, the mate bond I had unknowingly just set with him the moment we locked eyes preventing me from hurting him and vice versa. His mist had danced at the edges of my feet as he gave me more warnings than I was sure was customary of a Guard with his reputation until I managed to calm the raging inferno in my own mind, and douse the flames in theirs.
“Then you misted me.” I recalled, scowling at him slightly. Alec looked amused.
“You were getting rather violent,” he pointed out, “I’d merely suggested an even trade, their lives for you accompanying us to Volterra, and poor Demetri lost his nose a second time that day.” I could still recall the crunch of his skin beneath my knuckles as I vowed to never let them take me anywhere, and now two centuries on I couldn’t bear the thought of being anywhere other than in Alec’s lap. His hand skimmed my arm as I dropped my head on his shoulder.
“You think he would forgive me for that by now.” I said. Alec chuckled and kissed my forehead.
“Not in a million years, his ego is more fragile than his nose.” He murmured against my skin. I hadn’t been happy for a very long time after that. Dragged away from my home against my will and told it was all for a mate bond I hadn’t been ready to accept. I was cruel, very cruel, and I called Alec all sorts of filthy names. Neither him nor Jane had ever really done me wrong, yet still I rarely addressed them as anything other than ‘witch’ or ‘terrors 1 and 2’. I spent the majority of my days avoiding as many people as I could really, though I found Marcus to be quite calming and consequently ended up with the Masters’ more often than not. It was with their encouragement I ended up confronting my two-arch nemesis, their gentle prodding that had led me into Alec’s arms in the end.
“God I’m sure your mother would weep if she could see you now!”
“She did! She wept and pleaded with the villagers tying us to the stake until they caved her head in with stones. How about yours?”
I cringed slightly, the memory as fresh as if it had been just yesterday. Jane had looked ready to roast me that day, while Alec had cut me down to size with his words. Their mother’s fate, their deaths, they were nothing such of tragic incidents that should never have occurred, not to these two. It had triggered a memory I had thought had faded as most other human memories had, though I could see no eyes in the soft, familiar features of my mother’s face given I couldn’t remember the colour of them. She had been reaching for me in my dreams for years, that single bloodied hand protruding from the wreckage of a car only I had escaped from haunted me to this day. How far I had strayed from the woman she would have wanted me to become.
“How could you forgive me?” I asked finally. Alec raised his eyebrows.
“For punching Demetri in the face? Quite easily. I found it entertaining.” He answered.
“Not for that! For…everything else. I was nothing short of difficult and downright cruel to you.” I reminded him. Alec tilted his head, quietly making a noise of understanding. It wasn’t so long ago Alec had asked me to marry him, at least, five years didn’t seem all that long for a vampire. He shifted till I was facing him, straddling his lap and chest to chest with our noses almost touching.
“I forgave you because I loved you, even then. I didn’t see cruelty, I saw hurt that never truly healed. Our scarred hearts were made for one another, even if you weren’t ready to accept it.” He murmured.
“But all those awful names I called you…” I sighed, closing my eyes as shame ate away at my insides. Alec chuckled.
“Some were quite inventive, I’ll give you that,” he said wryly, “Y/N…you replaced every bad memory with a good one. The time you gifted me that bookmark because you knew how much I loved to read? The memory of our first walk in the Garden’s together where you taught me all about gardening and when the best time of year to plant certain flowers was. Our first kiss, the first time you held my hand even. You made the effort to make it right.” He kissed my nose sweetly before capturing my lips with his. His every kiss had been intoxicating since our very first one, the sweet taste of his mouth on mine addictive, the way his lips moved a hypnotic dance I could forever get lost in performing with him over and over. When we parted I pressed my forehead to his.
“I do love you, you know.” I swore. Alec flashed me a smile.
“I know, you impossible little brat,” he teased, tugging my hair lightly, “Now will you please listen to what I’ve been so desperately trying to ask you all day now?” My eyes rolled, but I nodded.
“Make it worth my while, baby.” I teased.
“Don’t, you know I hate when you call me that,” he warned, though his lips twitched upwards, “Y/N, my impossibly stubborn, talented little beauty. I’ve never been in doubt you love me, and I hope I’ve never given you reason to doubt that I love you just as much. You challenge and enrage me daily, yet you are also my greatest comfort and strength when I need you to be. So stop being so bloody awkward and marry me already!”
“That wasn’t a question.” I pointed out, eyebrows raising. Alec groaned exasperatedly, his head falling back against the back of the sofa. My head tilted slightly.
If my day of reflection had done anything, it was show me how far I had come. I was no longer the same spoiled little girl I had once been. I had become a protector of our kind, and my journey with Alec had humbled my tongue. I was perhaps wiser, far kinder. I had not felt worthy of the mantle before but seeing him beneath me now, my love so ardent in his affection and persistent in his showing of it, I realised I had no need to be afraid – I had proven my worth to Alec tenfold. Gripping his chin, I forced him to look at me. He looked rather frustrated.
“This is the modern era Alec,” I scolded, “I will never say yes to your proposal.”
“But-“
“Because you are going to be saying yes to mine. Marry me, Alec.” I didn’t ask, more stated it. I knew he wouldn’t say no. With another exasperated groan he shook his head.
“You do make me work for it don’t you? So long as I slip a ring on your finger I really don’t care who asks who. Fine, I’ll marry you.” He leaned in but I pressed a single finger to his lips, preventing him from kissing me. His eyebrows arched into his hairline, almost as if to say ‘what now?’.
“It’ll be a Winter wedding.” I decided. A brief smile flashed his lips upwards.
“Spring.” He retorted.
“And the bridesmaids will wear emerald green.” I continued.
“Peach.” He countered, his smile growing as I pulled my finger from his lips.
“Oh and I want diamonds Alec, they’re a girls best friend.” I grinned, our noses brushing now.
“You’ll get a cereal box ring and be happy with it for all the waiting you’ve made me do.” He huffed. I didn’t get to protest, not when he smothered my mouth with his own, both of us laughing as we let the past be and looked forward to our future instead.

Perfection
Pairings: Poppy x MC (Bea Hughes)
Warnings: None
Word count: 1900
Bea Hughes was not a spoiled brat like most of the young people of Belvoire and with the successful completion of her schooling she went straight into police work. Ever since she was a child, she had fought for her own, without any tariffs and faced human envy and selfishness. That's why when she got the job as an officer, she was determined to make this town perfect.
Perfection is a relative term. She knew she couldn't bring Belvoire to that state on her own, but she still hoped that her hard work would bear fruit. She was used to failure, but she did not allow herself to be broken. Just once. God, only once had she bowed to the pressure of her own demons and failed. So shamefully that nothing but a stone mask had graced her face ever since.
Unaccustomed to balls and parties, Bea was faced with a difficult choice: whether to follow society's acceptance and wear a frighteningly beautiful and sweet dress that completely did not suit her, or a simple, elegant suit whose graphite color matched her feelings. With a touch of distrust, she ran her fingers over the delicate material of the dress and held her breath in her chest. The coolness of the material irritated her fingertips, which were warm compared to the silky material, scratching her every now and then with the sewn-on sequins. This was not what she wanted. Not the sweetness and extravagance, but the passion and simplicity the suit would provide.
She had never needed society's approval so much, so with a sigh of relief she reached for the graphite material and nimbly threw it on. With a simple and careful movement, she tied the tie around her neck, which tightened like a noose against her pale rosy skin. Later today, people would hang her with words for this outfit, just as they had done in the past.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the gun holster that rested lazily on the elegant white bedside table. Taking that object in her hand, a shiver ran through her body, one that she always felt when touching the cool metal of a gun. Pure adrenaline, it was a feeling she so needed, and at the same time, didn't want to have. Tonight was all about perfection.
In front of her house stood a perfectly polished Ford Crown, its black and white hues exuding a sleek look. Tonight, however, because of the required elegance of the show, Bea brought along her beloved Ford Mustang that she inherited from her parents. It was the last thing they had left that would always have an important place in her heart and life. Slipping into the driver's seat, she let out a shaky breath. She was getting closer and closer to disaster. A sea of piranhas that were ready to tear her apart on the spot and, as usual, with stoic, even irritating, calmness, she would let them.
Keep calm. Be perfect.
Entering the monster's liege, she adjusted the tie one last time to make the noose let go, at least for a moment. She knew it was worth trying, even with poor results. Complete failure was never an option.
With uncertain and cautious steps, she glided deeper into the darkness. The smell of cigarettes and expensive alcohol irritated her nostrils and her face bent in an unnatural grimace. And although she herself sometimes did not shy away from alcohol, today it seemed extremely irritating. After all, spoiled brats are allowed everything, which disgusted Bea at the very thought.
After making her way through the dark corridor, a bright light flashed across her eyes, like passing through a magical portal, where a completely different world awaited her on the other side. The smell of alcohol intensified as the ballroom appeared to her eyes, bursting at the seams with an overwhelming amount of people. Most of them complete strangers to her, they were carelessly prancing to the beat of simple, primitive music, feeling none of the dangers of adulthood.
"Bea Hughes!" she heard a drunken yell behind her and let the air out of her lungs loudly.
Zoey Wade, her closest and pretty much the only friend she had spoken to in her school days. The complete opposite of her, a complete lack of perfection. Still, Bea felt a strong attraction to her, a need for adrenaline that her friend's behavior always satisfied. In her younger days an unknowable curiosity, today it is familiar and damned by every possible layer of society.
"Zoey Wade," she replied with an undisguised wince. This girl continued to be a harbinger of trouble. The brunette tilted her head gently to the side to carefully examine the silhouette hiding behind her friend.
A young girl with a radiant smile caught her eye. Her hair glinted like gold every now and then, shimmering in waves of colored lights. Bea thrust her hands into her pockets and shamelessly fed off the sight of this beautiful creature. Low and petite in stature, completely vulnerable and innocent.
Perfect.
"Who is this beauty you brought yourself?", she asked nonchalantly, directing her gaze back to her friend's eyes. Zoey cringed, and her eyes popped wide open. The brunette was taken aback by this reaction and shifted nervously from foot to foot.
"Are you talking about my cousin Poppy?", her friend's eyes flashed in semi-darkness as she corrected her posture after that unfavorable reaction.
Bea's lips tightened into a straight line, and soft wrinkles appeared on her face as she became lost in her thoughts. She thought back to the carefree days when she and Zoey would play in the backyard together, paying no attention to the different level of social classes they came from. It was not easy for a simple girl to play with the mayor's daughter. The black-haired girl adored Bea so much that her parents allowed them to hang out, but they made no secret of their disgust with the lower class, reminding her at every turn that she was beneath them.
Finally, one day the cup overflowed and Bea decided to take revenge for all the mental harm done to her. She took away their perfection. After that incident, she was no longer the same carefree person. She closed herself off and put on a stone mask, becoming a merciless jerk.
"If it was your cousin, I would remember. Believe me", she shrugged her shoulders. Her hungry gaze, once again, returned to the blonde, who was dancing with some boy just as she once had, free of her demons. Her movements innocent, made the blood boil in Bea's veins. She licked her parched lips with the tip of her tongue and struggled to swallow the growing lump in her throat.
"She didn't live near us. She's been in New York most of her life because her parents didn't want a simple life for her," she paused for a moment to wet her tongue in the percent golden liquid. "She's a lawyer."
"And everyone's favorite," Bea's throat went dry as she heard the angelic voice of young Sinclair gracelessly slung over her cousin's shoulder. The strong floral scent of her perfume, beat down the bitter stench of sweat and alcohol. The brunette's chest tightened, unable to rise or fall any further.
Get a grip on yourself.
„We don't know each other yet”, she flashed her an overly sweet smile. „Poppy Min Sinclair, lawyer, cousin to that dolt and future Mrs. Jackson.”
Bea lowered her gaze to the small and delicate hand with perfectly filed and painted nails that was extended toward her. She reciprocated the grip and when her thumb wrapped around the top of the blonde's hand, she froze. Her gaze traveled from her tiny, long fingers to the milky white skin of her exposed arms.
Adrenaline.
She needed it.
No.
She needed her.
And she always got what she wanted.
***
After several hours of constant talking and faking any interest, Bea stopped for a short break at the snack table. The atmosphere was so artificial that, for a brief moment, she even felt like she fit into this environment. As if no one there was judging her. How naive that trajectory of thinking was.
It was time for the worst part of the show: the dancing. She preferred to dance with men, although even this was not without a few indiscreet whispers. Because how is it possible for a woman and a man to dance both in a suit. It was so imperfect. Moments passed and so did the partners. Bea felt tired of listening to the stories of everyone she danced with. The most she could think of right now was to sit in her favorite chair with a glass of scotch. That was her wish until someone tapped her gently on the shoulder.
"Hey stranger, care to dance?", the wide smile on Poppy's face softened her heart, not even allowing her to refuse. As a police officer she stuck to the rules, but for this girl she was able to break them.
She returned the smile and found them a free spot on the dance floor. She felt soft hands wrap around her neck and the girl's forehead fell against her chest. Surprised by this closeness, she uncertainly placed her hands on her slender waist, but without moving closer so that their bodies were at a relatively safe distance.
"You intrigue me", she whispered innocently, swaying lazily to the beat of the music. Bea's throat became dry and before she could get anything out, the girl continued. "You show up here in the middle, trying to sit in the dark, and you look quite unhappy", boldness in her words earned her some respect from the brunette. "You seem to be completely different from everyone else here. Why?", Poppy lifted her head and found Bea's mysteriously gleaming eyes in the semi-darkness.
If the blonde had only known why Bea didn't belong here, she would have fled in terror like everyone else. Poppy was a lawyer, a fiancée, her life must have been so perfect she surely never experienced a blemish on her porcelain skin. Skin whose emanating warmth she could feel with every scrap of her taut body.
"So it seems", she replied indifferently, shoving all incorrect thoughts to the back of her mind. "Is it appropriate for you, the lawyer and future Mrs. Jackson, to maintain such closeness with a stranger?", she changed the subject turning the attention away from herself
She watched carefully as the girl's face changed expression, and only for a moment did she feel the need to close the distance and seal her lips in a kiss.
"I...", Poppy was about to say something, but she stopped at the beginning of her sentence. Any trace of a smile disappeared from her face. "I have to go now.", she said mysteriously, sounding like a completely different person, which drew interest from the brunette. She stood on her toes and innocently brushed her lips against the other girl's cheek, stopping near her ear. "Come tomorrow with my cousin to the wedding dress salon for my fitting. The more the better."
Bea nodded, watching the blonde's silhouette disappear among the rest of the dancing partygoers. Automatically her hand went to the place where Poppy's mouth had been and she sighed heavily.
This couldn't end well.

Humans are Space Orcs, “Man’s Best Friend.”
Try not to bee too mad at me guys :) Sorry about the angst.
It is a more than well known anomaly that humans will social bond with any species. This is not barring their danger levels, or factors of perceived cuteness; no matter the cost, humans will pack bond with any animal. They have even been known to bond with inanimate objects and houseplants. However, one of the greatest bonds man has ever created, is their bond with dogs. Thousands of years ago a man shared his food and his fire with a wolf: another social pack species. After years and years of careful breeding selection manipulated by humans, they ‘created’ an animal that protects loyally, forgives quickly, and loves unconditionally.
In my study of humans, I have found that the emotional bond with a dog can run deeper than an emotional bond with humans.  I am not entirely sure why a human would find it more displeasing to watch a movie where a dog dies than to watch a movie where a human dies, but I have some suspicion that it has to do with the innocence and unconditional friendship that dog has given man, a quality that man has never given himself.
***
Waffles: a 75lb 34kilo german shepherd shoved her head into an alien bush nose working furiously as she pawed through the strange purple plant. She came back up a moment later and sneezed violently sending up a cloud of delicate yellow polin.
Admiral Vir laughed and whistled, and turning on her heel she bounded back to him over open ground her ears straight up, her tail wagging furiously. She ran up to him and touched her nose to his hand as if tagging base before bounding off again to sniff the path before them.
Krill and Sunny walked with him, Krill staring at the brightly colored alien landscape with buzzing antenna.
Waffles leaped through another patch of wild blue grass sending up more white spores into the air, stopping only to sneeze again before continuing.
Sunny went up to walk beside the Admiral, “She looks happy.”
Adam nodded, “Yeah, I like bringing her down on occasion to get some fresh air. I know she does pretty well on the ship, but I feel bad keeping her cooped up so much.”
With another bound Waffles plowed through a shallow stream sending up droplets of water.
This planet was one the GA had been studying for some time, and, as it seemed, it was a relatively nice, habitable planet that they were readying for colonization for the Finnari, or perhaps, humans, or even both permitting everything went well.
Krill watched the dog as she plowed through the grass, rolling in the  weeds like she was having the time of her life.
Predators used to scare him, but the dog had proven herself to be docile at the Admiral’s command, and he could at least tolerate her if not like her…. Just a little.
Adam Grinned at his dog’s antics and charged into the grass after her.
The dog dropped her front paws, but and tail sticking up in the air, a nonverbal invitation for her master to play with her. He didn’t reject her offer and raced forward to play chasing her around the field, their legs swishing over the grass. She barked happily as they did.
Adam had now ran far ahead of the others towards another nearby forest path. Waffles was behind him just a little ways as he pulled to a halt panting.
It was then that he heard it, a sudden rustling of foliage turning into a swirling thunder of air.
He turned on the spot eyes wide in shock and surprise.
Surprise at the ravening beast charging directly towards him, its purple fur and white tusks glittering in the sun. he leapt out of the way, but the beast was quick, about waist height and angry. He was so startled he couldn't even scream his only reaction to try to kick at the creature and keep it back.
It squared off against him, and he tried backing away, but it charged again.
There was a sudden snarling noise, and waffles charged into the fight snarling and snapping.
She bit the creature hard on it’s back leg.
“WAFFLES!” Adam shouted
The creature turned violently and whipped it’s tusks at waffles, who didn’t heed them as she charged in again, snapping at its face and throat forcing herself between Adam and his attacker.
It thrashed and she yelped in pain, but charged forward again, grabbing it by the leg and holding on for dear life as  it trampled into the bush dragging her along with it.
Another yelp came from the forest, high pitched and painful.
“WAFFLES!” It didn’t take a moment before Adam was chagrin into the bush after them pulling his sidearm as he did. He followed the sound just in time to see the creature whip it’s head around and catch waffles hard in the side picking her up and tossing her to the ground. Blood drenched her fur, while green icor drenched her muzzle.
He screamed in anger instead of fear this time as he leveled his sidearm and emptied his magazine at the creature. He wasn’t sure how many hit, but the creature was tough enough that it staggered off itne bush yowling. He ignored it for the time and ran, throwing himself to his knees at the side of waffles, who was lying on the ground breathing shallowly.
Sunny roared into the clearing just behind them, her spear raised, but the creature was already gone.
Adam reached out his hands which were trembling so badly he could barely function, “Waffles, waffles no no no no.”
He rested a hand on her side and she whimpered in pain, her muzzle resting on the ground her eyes half hooded.
A choked sob broke from his throat, “No. no…. You’re g-gonna be o-ok.”
His hands fluttered uselessly over her body, covered in blood.
“KRILL! PLEASE Someone… h-help.”
Sunny stood back in shock and fear as Adam clawed at his hair, tears rolling down his face in uncontrolled streams.
Krill scuttled in not far after.
Adam turned to look at him his face twisted into a snarl, “Help her!” His voice cracked on demand and he turned back hands still shaking not knowing what to do. Being a doctor krill was well aware that the human’s anger was displaced and did not take it personally as he moved forward and took a look at the injured animal.
He lifted her front paw, and she whimpered piteously.
Off to the side Adam was still inconsolable, his hands in his hair threatening to rip out fistfulls with his clutching fingers. His agitations was actually getting in the way of Krill working.
“Adam, Adam just hold her head ok, help her stay calm.”
He nodded following orders stiffly, crawling over the ground to sit her head in his lap and tell her she was such a good girl and that she was going to be ok. Streams of continual tears rolled down his cheeks and onto her fur. Waffles licked his hand lethargically.
Sunny knelt next to him, hand on his shaking shoulder powerless as for what to do.
She had never seen him like this, ever.
Not that Adam was one to conceal his emotions completely, but he generally subscribed to silent tears if there were any at all. This, this was different, no holds barred uncontrollably sobbing, the kind where the human loses all functioning, eyes, nose, mouth and racking sobs that shook the body in aggressive, violent spasms.
Krill rolled waffles a little further onto her side spotting a deep gash from her chest and abdomen. He couldn't tell how deep it was, and didn’t want to look in this sort of environment.
“Sunny, call the shuttle!”
The urgency in his voice only served to secure Adam’s worst fears, “No… no, ou’re going to be o.”
“Adam, give me your jacket.”
He did without hesitation, ripping it off his body and offering it to krill as if it was the thing that was going to save her life.
Krill got Adam to help lift her onto the jacket and wrap her up, while he used some thing from his medical kit to staunch the bleeding. Waffles was still conscious, through her eyes were half lidded.
“Please be ok.” Adam begged, and despite all her injuries, her tail thudded against the ground at the sound of his voice and the touch of his hand. This only started his tears flowing even harder.
Overhead the sound of engines whirred, and touched down on the grass not far away.
“Ok, lift her gently.”
He did as ordered hugging her to his chest and practically racing towards the shuttle as it descended.
When the doors opened he practically bowled past the waiting marine who looked on in shock.
He gently lay Waffles on one of the seats all but yellin at one of the marines to make sure she stayed there before racing to the ront of the craft.
“Admiral are you sure…” The copilot began.
“Get out o my fucking way!” he snarled, and the ire in his voice was so that the man quickly leaped from his seat as Adam slid into the pilot’s seat. Krill was worried that the human was going to kill them all trying to pilot in that state, but what he witnessed next was a feat of pure talent and skill as he maneuvered them up through the clouds faster and steadier than krill would have thought possible.
Waffles whimpered softly in the background, held tight in Sunny’s arms now.
Their copilot sent out a medial call as soon as was feasible and very prudent.
By the time they made it inside, a crew was waiting with a stretcher.
Didn’t matter that it was waffles, but they treated her as they might any human with krill tagging long beside.
Adam ran after them until the doors to the med bay shut in his face and he was told to stay outside.
***
Sunny made her way quietly down the hall footsteps no more than a whisper over the metal floor. It was dark on the ship, the lights having been dimmed for the night. Up ahead she could see light filtering out into the hallway, and the rim lighting of a figure sitting in the dark.
She moved forward, and the mass of shadow coalesced from the darkness. Adam sat on the floor, knees pulled to his chest, head in his hands. Three pairs of bright yellow eyes looked up at her from the darkness. And Sunny tilted her head in surprise to see three Finnari curled up around Adam. One leaned against his left side, one leaned against his right side, and one rested against his legs.
The others raised their heads, though Adam remained curled up with his head in his hands.
Sunny nodded to them, “I can take it from here.” She said quietly
The Finnari looked between each other and then waddled to their feet. One of them patted Adam’s hair before joining the group and waddling off down the hall. Sunny knelt and then slowly sat next to Adam resting a hand on his back.They sat in the dark in silence for a long while before he looked up at her.
His cheeks were still wet, and she had no idea how he was still producing any, sure he would have dehydrated hours ago.
In response, she pulled the human closer using all four of her arms until he was curled up against her head resting against her chest.
“I….I can’t l-lose her s-sunny…. I I don’t know what I-I’d do.”
She rubbed his back gently with one of her lower hands, feeling as his body continued to spasm rhythmically with the beat of his grief. He covered his eyes with his right hand turning into her chest as if trying to hide his face. His teeth were gritted against quiet sobs.
But despite his attempts to stay quiet, he couldn’t.
It killed Sunny to watch.
He was completely debilitated. She had seen a human like this maybe once before under different circumstances. Neither war, nor kidnapping, or injury in the time she had known him had ever brought this man to his knees, and if it had it had been silently and alone where he dealt with it himself.
This was different.
He had snapped, broken right in half.
It surprised her almost how fragile humans were, after everything he could have gone through, and after everything he did, this is what hurt him.
His grief came in waves, one moment she thought he had finally calmed down, and then the next moment he was escalating again just as bad as before. It was exhausting to watch, and she had no idea what to do other than keep him company in the dimness of the hallway.
They were there for hours.
And then the door hissed open.
Adam shot to his feet as krill stepped out into the hall.
His hair was disheveled -- even more so than usual-- his face was red and puffy, his eyes were ringed in bright red. The collar of his shirt was damp.
Sunny rose to her feat as well.
“Is she-” he couldn't finish, choking up again.
“She’s alright, we were just waiting for her to wake up to make sure. But she’s going to be ok.”
This time the sound he made was a sob of relief rather than grief, “Can I see her?”
Krill paused but then nodded, motioning him back. He hurried after into the med bay.
At the end of the room, waffles lay curled up on one of the beds.
She was wrapped in bandages and an IV was held into her right front leg with pink gauze. Someone had managed to fashion a makeshift cone out of plastic shielding.
Adam rushed over.
Waffles blinked slowly at him, too tired to lift her head, but her tail began to whap happily against the covers of the bed. He smiled rubbing his hands through the soft fur of her face and ears, “Good girl…. You’re such a good girl.” tears were leaking down his face again, but he was smiling.
With great effort, waffles lifted her head, licking at his face with her long pink tongue, whipping the tears from his face the only way she knew how.
Krill walked over and paused by them, “She should be up and about by tomorrow, but she definitely needs to rest and recover.”
Adam looked up at Krill, “Can I stay here…. With her?”
Krill looked at him unsure, but the look on the human’s face was one the little alien certainly couldn't say no to , and he sighed, “Alright, you can stay.”
When Sunny left the room Adam was curled up on the bed with the dog resting with her back to his chest, the two of them fast asleep.
Thank the spirits Waffles was ok.
***
Ask a human, the vast majority of them find the sadness of grief or pain of a dog to be more poignant than that of a human -- unless the human is one they know--. This is why movies often employ dogs for emotional factors. Perhaps you cannot get an audience to cry for the pain of a human, but if you get a dog to wait at its owner's owners grave than you can have an entire audience in tears. As I said earlier. It's hard to watch the pain of someone who doesn't deserve that pain and never will.
Dogs are a reflection of the best parts of man

the tape
tw: a sex tape is filmed and released without consent.
Damen didn’t expect to wake up on Wednesday morning to the headline: Famous Football Player Caught in Tantalising SEX SCANDAL, Scroll for Video — but, well. He sort of knew it was a possibility.
 Julius had been a sweet little thing at Ernesta, the club Damen and his teammates frequented after a game or a training session or anything, really. Damen had caught sight of Julius’ blonde hair under the strobe lights, and had made his way over, tipsy and light, and just horny enough that he could last a full conversation with minimal wandering hands.
 Julius had been a ‘huge fan’ and pretty enough that Damen neglected his one rule: which was to never hook up with fans. They’d made it to Damen’s penthouse within half an hour, and Julius must have set up his phone to record them when Damen went to the bathroom after the first round.
It had honestly been the most average sex of Damen’s life — which was the only reason why he had been upset that Julius had leaked the tape at all. Damen hadn’t even tried very hard to make Julius cum, and he’d still been mostly hard throughout it all, his own release unsatisfactory.
 When he tried to explain this to Laurent later that day, during lunch at their favourite brunch place, Laurent’s face twitched. He looked furious, and then upset, and then both those expressions slowly absolved, until his expression was a flat, distant thing that unsettled Damen.
 In fact, it unsettled Damen so much, he began talking, without quite meaning to, “I just wish he’d told me he was going to film a whole tape, you know? That way I could have busted better moves. Or, made suggestions with the lighting or something. Look here — my entire body is blurry, so it’s like, what’s the point? What the fuck are we supposed to be looking at?”
 From his phone, Julius’ breathless voice panted, “Yes, harder, oh you’re so good for me.”
 It wasn’t loud enough to be heard by the other patrons in the cafe, but Laurent put his knife and fork down and hissed, “Will. You. Put. That. Away.”
 Damen did, swallowing. For the first time since he had read the article, seen the tape, and responded to the dozen or so text messages from friends about the tape, he felt embarrassment.
 Laurent wasn’t looking at him anymore. His eyes slid away, to the busy road outside, his mouth turned.
 Damen turned back to his food. Neither of them said anything else for the rest of their meal.
 *
 Damen genuinely didn’t mind the release of the tape. Julius had wanted his fifteen minutes of fame; Damen had wanted a lay — it was a win-win situation.
 No one else cared too much about it either; his teammates made sly jokes about it in the locker room, Makedon slapped him on the back with a shake of his head, and even Kastor let it slide.
 But there was one thing that did bother Damen — and it was that the love of his life, the man of his dreams, his soulmate, Laurent, was ignoring him.
Laurent had been downright hostile any time someone mentioned it; he’d eviscerated Nikandros verbally during dinner when Nikandros had made a joke about it, and he refused to look Damen in the eye.
 That was the worst part, thought Damen. Laurent was now skittish around him, like the thought of being around Damen too much nauseated him.
 He’d always known Laurent was reserved when it came to sex. He made jokes about it, talked about it as much as a healthy, twenty-seven-year-old man did, but it was never on a personal scale. When it came to Laurent’s own sex life, he was always tight lipped, even though sometimes Damen wanted to know, purely on a masochistic level. It honestly killed Damen when Laurent came in last summer to review his legal contract, briefcase in hand, and a bright red hickey on the white spot beneath his ear. It was the first time Damen had thought he might kill someone — rather violently, too.
 So, that was one of the reasons Damen used to justify Laurent’s behaviour. He was probably embarrassed about seeing… so much of his best friend. Damen wouldn’t have minded seeing Laurent naked, but that was only because he had been in love with Laurent for the last four years now.
 The second reason was that Laurent was so disgusted by Damen he didn’t want to be friends anymore.
 Damen didn’t like thinking about the second reason — so he didn’t.
 *
 A week after the tape, Damen invited Laurent over to dinner, at his family home. Theomedes was obsessed with Laurent, which Damen understood wholeheartedly; he was constantly wondering why more people didn’t fall in love with Laurent three seconds into meeting him.
 At first, it had seemed like Laurent might refuse. He was doing that a lot lately: skipping plans, cancelling so last-minute Damen couldn’t cajole him to reconsider, or in most cases, just flat out saying no.
 It seemed like today, the latter would be the possibility, so Damen said, panicked, “Please. I’ll make your favourite dessert.”
 Laurent perked a little at that. “Really?”
 “Yes!” Damen said, perhaps a little too aggressively, but it had Laurent nodding, a quick, stilted movement.
 Damen ruined the first three batches of chocolate mousse, but the fourth was decent, and the fifth was a bit better than that, so he went with it.
 Laurent arrived at seven sharp, straight from work. He had his favourite suit on, the charcoal wool suit that made everyone realise that Laurent was about ninety percent leg, and he was wearing the bright, spotty tie Theomedes had gifted Laurent about three Christmases ago.
He was so beautiful, Damen’s chest hurt. “Hi,” he said breathlessly, unexpectedly shy.
 Laurent’s gaze was unimpressed. His mouth did something strange; it compressed in on itself, until it sat in a straight line, and his eyes hovered over Damen’s shoulder.
 “You have something on your face,” he said.
 Damen tried a smile. “Well, get it off for me then, sweetheart.”
 He leant forward, very desperate suddenly for Laurent's touch, which in the past, Laurent had been very generous about.
 Laurent shoved the wine bottle he was holding into Damen’s stomach. Damen stepped back with a surprised oof, fumbling to catch it, and Laurent made his way past him, into the kitchen to talk to Theomedes.
 Damen stared after him, at a complete loss.
 He sulked in the bathroom for a while, and only came out when he was sure he could no longer avoid his father’s calls anymore.
 Laurent wasn’t looking at him when Damen returned, but he didn’t shuffle away as Damen took his usual seat beside him.
 Dinner was so pleasant, Damen almost forgot about how strange Laurent had been acting. Even Laurent had loosened, and he gave his first proper smile to Damen in a whole week when he tasted the mousse. It was a small smile, but Damen was going to remember it for the rest of his life, since they were so rare now, apparently.
 Of course, just as Laurent had completely relaxed, Theomedes said, “Do you think we’d have a case if Damen were to sue the tabloids and the man in the tape?”
 Laurent stiffened so much it was like he’d been propped up by invisible string. His shoulders tensed and pulled back, and his back was so straight Damen was sure he could run a smooth line down it.
 Haltingly, Laurent said, “I — don’t. I’m not quite sure.”
 “Why not?” Theomedes said.
 Damen said, “Dad. I’m not going to sue. He was just a dumb kid.”
 Laurent seemed to stiffen further at that.
 Theomedes frowned. “But surely —”
 “I’ll ask someone at the firm for you, sir,” Laurent said, in a polite, contrite tone that wasn’t like him at all. “I only deal with sports law so I — I’d have to ask.”
 That settled Theomedes. Damen relaxed a little too, until Laurent pushed away his dessert, despite having more than half of it left.
 It was such a depressing thing to see, Damen couldn’t finish the rest of his either.
 *
 With how jumpy Laurent was, Damen expected him to leave straight after their plates were cleared, but Laurent lingered, drinking his wine, and talking to Theomedes about the Lions chances of winning this season.
 Damen barely listened. He was upset, and his stomach had been rolling tumultuously for the last hour.
 He excused himself to his bedroom and sat on his small, single bed for a few moments, feeling sorry for himself.
 When that didn’t make him feel better, Damen went to his desk and pulled out a well-read book. Book was perhaps an overstatement; it was a small collection of poetry Laurent had written for him a year after they met. He had handed it to Damen after his birthday party, when everyone had left, and they could have some privacy.
 “You don’t have to read it,” Laurent had said, bashful, when Damen had paused in stunned silence. That was when Damen knew — and over the years that feeling had only solidified.
 The binding hadn’t been the best, so Damen had rebound it himself. Along the way he’d marked a lot of the poems too. The love poems were a source of both serenity and torture, since Damen daydreamed that Laurent had written about making love in moonlit sheets about him, but.
 He was surprised when there was a hesitant knock on his door. Laurent peeked his head through, and then he was stepping inside, wine glass topped up and his tie loosened.
 Damen’s heart lurched.
 “What are you doing?” Laurent asked, and the wine must have made him forget that he was mad at Damen, because he sounded curious, joyful.
 Damen gestured to the curling cover of Laurent’s book. Laurent flushed heavily, the colour vining his cheeks and neck and ears.
 “You kept that?”
 “Of course I did,” Damen said, affronted.
 “They’re terrible,” Laurent said, shaking his head, still red. “I don’t think I’ve even read enough poetry to justify writing so many.”
 “They’re wonderful. See.” Damen flicked through the pages and showed Laurent all his markings, scribbling along the columns of Laurent’s poetry.
 Laurent watched with hungry eyes. But he said, “Oh, Damen,” with so much sadness, Damen went, instinctively, to touch his shoulder.
 “Hey,” he said, unsure.
 Laurent stepped away from his grip, but he sat on the edge of the bed, facing Damen.
 “What is it?” Damen asked, because Laurent’s face was pale, haunted.
 “Nothing,” Laurent said, attempting a small smile.
 Damen tried to return it but couldn’t.
 They sat in awkward silence for a while — which was foreign, between them. Damen talked enough for four people at a time, and Laurent, though he said otherwise, liked that.
 Eventually, Damen said, “You’re coming to Nikandros’ party on Saturday, yeah?”
 “Oh,” Laurent said, surprised. He blinked. “This Saturday?”
 “Yeah,” Damen said, his stomach knotting when he realised Laurent was most probably going to say no.
 It was worse than that. “Ah, shit, I’d completely forgotten…” Laurent trailed off. “I didn’t realise when I — I have plans.”
 “What plans?” Damen frowned, because Laurent had approximately three friends, including him, and they were all going to Nikandros’.
 Laurent flushed again, a finger tracing the rim of his glass. “Armand from work — do you remember? I mentioned him a few times at — anyway. He. He asked me on a date and I said yes.”
 “Oh,” Damen said, so flatly he didn’t think he had even made it sound like a word.
 “Yes,” Laurent said, flushing even more, not looking at Damen’s eyes. “We’re going to Charls. You’ve been there, haven’t you? Is it any good?”
 “Hmm,” said Damen.
 “Oh,” said Laurent, awkwardly. “That’s good.”
 He left ten minutes after that. Damen smashed a penholder.
 *
 The days leading up to Nikandros’ party were the worst of Damen’s life. It wasn’t as though Laurent hadn’t dated anyone for the last few years, but the fact that he was going on a date with Armand, rich, successful, handsome Armand, who cracked dry jokes and said things like, My supervisor would kill me if I said this but did you know… He was just so boring. Laurent could do way better.
 Nikandros’ party was, thankfully, a wonderful distraction. It was as raucous as ever, and the cacophony of noises prevented Damen from thinking too much. Damen drank, he danced, and he thought of flirting with Naos’ sister, but decided against it.
 He was on the alfresco, smoking, trying to ignore the couple in the corner who were three seconds away from having sex, when Laurent opened the sliding doors.
 Damen was so surprised, he almost dropped his cigarette. Then he tried not to get his hopes up. He was either so drunk he was hallucinating, even though it had never happened before, or Laurent had ditched Charls to bring himself and Armand here.
 Laurent was drunk, or at least getting there. When he saw Damen, he smiled wide, his teeth showing.
 Damen swallowed, eyes following Laurent as he made his way over. Laurent surprised him even more; he sat close to Damen, until their thighs touched and rested his head on Damen’s shoulder.
 “Hey,” said Damen, his heart racing, confused and hopeful all at once.
 Laurent propped his chin on Damen’s shoulder. “Hello,” he said softly.
 Damen’s mouth was dry. Laurent plucked Damen’s cigarette from his fingers and placed it in his own mouth.
 Damen asked, “Armand?”
 Laurent exhaled. “He was a dick. And not in the nice, sexy way.”
 “There’s a nice, sexy way?” Damen said, amused and relieved.
 “There can be,” Laurent said, handing the cigarette back to Damen.
 They shared Damen’s cigarette for a while, fingers brushing up against each other. Laurent was still on his shoulder, and this was so achingly familiar, Damen had been afraid he’d lost it forever.
 A few moments later, Damen asked, “Was he a jerk to you, Laurent?”
 “Not really,” Laurent said.
 “Good,” said Damen.
 Laurent propped his chin on Damen’s shoulder again. “What would you do if I said yes?”
 Damen said, too seriously, “I’d kill him.”
 Laurent’s breath caught. His eyes searched Damen’s face, and Damen tried valiantly to keep his expression as neutral as he could.
 Laurent pulled back. His eyes flickered to the ground, then to Damen, and then away. “I should probably go. I have a huge headache.”
 “Okay,” said Damen.
 Laurent squeezed his hand quickly, then dropped it. He made to leave the alfresco, his movements unhurried, a little disjointed.
 At the doors, he paused. Damen saw him hesitate, and then Laurent turned around and asked, “Are you free tomorrow?”
 “Yeah,” said Damen, even though he had promised Kastor they’d have lunch together.
 Laurent nodded. “Good. Come over for dinner. I’ll make lasagna.”
 “Sure,” said Damen, now smiling so wide his cheeks hurt.
 Laurent smiled too. “See you,” he said, before he stepped through the doors, into the crowd.
 Damen watched him go, his heart settled and his smile only widening.

A Fly's Help is Help, Too.
WC: 1415 words
Ahti checks in on Jesse and does a very great job at helping and giving advice
~~~~~~~~~~
There was another Clog issue in the cooling pipes.
Jesse thought that she would’ve been used to this by now: running around the Oldest House, dealing with a million issues purely because many of the halls were still too dangerous for her to risk anyone else to go. After all, there had been enough death, and the scientists were swearing that they were so close to getting everyone out of there. But her stomach still dropped as Simon’s voice came over the radio. She still had to stop herself from groaning in frustration as he told her of the situation. She still had to remind herself to keep her face neutral as she passed the maintenance workers in the power plant, even though they were probably just as done with the Clog as she was.
Ahti needed to get back from his vacation.
“Let's get this over with,” Jesse said to no one in particular, looking around the cave-like tunnel that led to the cooling pumps. She could’ve just used the Control Points, just blipped there in the way that always made her just a little nauseous, but a small part of her lit up at the idea of walking down those tunnels again, just like she had when she first got to the House. This time with a bit lower chance of immediately dying, though.
“Levels at Security?” The chatter that always filled the completely high-tech walkie-talkie system had started up again. Hiss threats, supplies, different scientific measurements. Mostly things that Jesse couldn’t help much with, or just simply didn’t have the time to help with (unless she was the only one who could deal with it without dying).
Jesse didn’t have to look to turn down the volume.
The tunnel was opening up now, to the half-room, half-cave that held the cooling pipes. A few maintenance workers were around, giving Jesse quick looks and waves as she walked past. They were much braver than she was, being down here. Of course she was down there, too, but she had the Objects of Power, and the influence of the Board ever-present in the back of her mind.
They had maybe two or three Rangers protecting them.
They were much braver than she was.
The familiar stench of the Clog grew more distinct as Jesse approached its favorite cooling pump to mess with, focusing on the weight of the gun in her hand. Even the janitorial work that she had to deal with fighting things.
“Keeps up morale.” A voice came out of nowhere and everywhere, making Jesse jump and nearly fire off her gun in panic. Which would’ve definitely kept up morale amongst the other people in the room. Looking around, Jesse couldn’t find the person she was expecting, the only person who seemed to be able to read her mind, and not just through the cracks in the emotional wall she had tried so hard to build.
Somehow, that was more reassuring for the moment.
“You’re back?” Finally. Ahti had been gone for months, only giving any sort of clue that he was alive when he gave Jesse jobs down in the Investigations Sector. If she hadn’t been helped by him in so many weird ways, she might’ve begun to worry.
The Clog. She couldn’t forget about that.
Jesse walked a bit faster now, doing her best to ignore the acidic stench that made her eyes water. She didn’t have to walk far to reach the Clog, the shifting mass already having reached the main area of the pipe.
Bam. Bam. Bam. Jesse stood still as she aimed for the Clog’s weak spots, grateful that the mass couldn’t really fight back. It brought a relaxing monotony to the process. Find the weak spot. Shoot. Move. Don’t run into one of the acidic geysers that the Clog sometimes barfed out. Repeat. It allowed Jesse to let her mind wander a bit, though she stayed partly alert. With her luck, some Hiss would show up out of nowhere and kill her.
The Investigations sector. Ahti reminded her of that, of the weird hell that she faced down there. Hartman. That weird darkness that sucked all the energy out of her. Bright Falls.
Alan Wake.
There was no way that he actually affected the Hiss, right? Absolutely no way that was twisting these events for whatever motive he was going for?
It wasn’t just the Clog’s stench that was making her nauseous now.
Bam. Bam. Bam.
“Needs a good smack on the head. Messing with dangerous powers.” Ahti interrupted Jesse’s train of thought again, almost making her run into a stream of acid.
“Hey, if you’re going to keep chiming in, at least get over here and help me out.” There wasn’t much use trying to order Ahti around, but maybe there was a way for her to make a case.
“I have other issues to deal with.” So, that was a no. Great. “The House has been busy.”
“Actually, speaking of that,” Bam. Bam. Bam. “Could you, maybe, answer some of my questions about this place?” Out of all the people in the bureau, it was probably the worst idea to go and see Ahti as a mentor. After all, Jesse had already thrown radioactive material into a furnace because of him. Not smart. But, something told Jesse that he meant well. And who else could she turn to? Emily and Simon knew a lot about the House, but there was another level of the House that she wanted to understand, not one that they would probably get. And all other mentor possibilities were dead or missing, such as Trench.
“Shit assistant. Never took the time out of his day to help out. Ajaa ku päätön kana."
“Are you sure you want to be speaking ill of the dead?” Jesse stopped for a moment, listening through the tunnels to figure out where else the Clog was. It was definitely still there, the gurgling sound coming from somewhere around her, but the way that the sounds echoed against the smooth walls distorted its direction.
“I’d like to see him stop me.” Ahti fell silent for a few moments, but Jesse could still feel his presence in the back of her mind, watching out for something. Like Polaris, just a tad more annoying. “Left.”
“Thanks.”
“You had a question?”
“Uh, yeah.” Jesse turned the corner, finally finding what she was looking for. This better be the last one. “You know those like, Control Points, right? How am I able to teleport using them?” Maybe it was a dumb question. Maybe it didn’t matter. But it was a good place to start. See what Ahti knew about the things that Jesse wanted to learn.
See what he was willing to tell.
“By concentrating really hard.” Jesse swore she heard Ahti laugh as he said that. Bam. Bam. Bam. The last of the Clog began to sink away, for the moment at least.
“Ha ha, very funny. Guess I walked right into that one, didn’t I?” Jesse loosened her grip on the Service Weapon, feeling it move underneath her hand. “But like, how does it work? Apparently I’m like, the first one that was able to do it.”
“You figured out how to do it. That’s the difference.”
“Thanks for the help, Ahti.” Would Ahti understand the sarcasm in her voice? Would he even care? Either way, she started to head back to the cooling pumps, hoping that the Clog wouldn’t come back for a while. At least, if it did come back, Jesse hoped that Ahti would deal with it. “But also, I was wondering about the Motel. Something weird happened. Another door opened? It, um, it looks like it’s connected to Bright Falls and--”
“Now is not the time for lessons. It is time for a break.” Ahti’s voice became a bit more stern, and for a moment, Jesse feared she was about to get a lecture about the importance of breaks from what had to be the eighth or ninth different person in the Bureau. “No worry, I will not hassle you on breaks. Go up to Executive. Relax for a bit. Work will not run out by working.”
“Fine,” there was no way Jesse was going to argue with someone that wasn’t even actually in the same room as her, “I’m heading up. If something happens, though, it is my job to deal with it. But I’ll try.”
“And turn your radio volume back up.” The weird feeling in the back of her mind from Ahti talking disappeared as fast as it came on, immediately replaced by an even weirder feeling of anxiety mixed with exhaustion mixed with a dash of annoyance.
Shit, what now?
 September 2022
“Mom.” Emmy’s voice was soft and Katie instantly looked up from her laptop. “Where’s Dad?” “He’s gone for a run, well as much of a run as he can with Jamie hanging off his back.”  Katie said, frowning slightly as she saw her fifteen year old daughter wasn’t dressed for school. “Is everything ok? I can call him.” “No, it’s fine. It’s you I wanted to talk to.” Emmy hovered from one foot to the other. “I err…”
She looked down at her feet, a huge flush on her face. Katie closed her laptop and stood up. “Em, what’s wrong?” “I think I, well, no I know I err… I started my period and…” “Oh, Sweetie.” Katie chuckled slightly as she wrapped the girl into a hug. “You feeling okay?”
“Erm, I got cramps and I’m really tired.” Emmy mumbled, her cheek pressed against Katie’s shoulder “And, I err, I got some on the sheets.”
Katie smoothed back Emmy’s hair and shrugged “It’s no big deal. I’ll get you some painkillers and why don’t you go have a bath, I’ll sort your bed and then we’ll sit and watch shit on TV all day. I can stay home.”
Emmy nodded eagerly, and peered up at her mom. “Snacks?”
“Dur.”
“Thanks Mom.” Emmy hugged her tight.
“It’s okay, I know how it feels. And, just for the record, beinga woman sucks at times but other times it’s kinda cool.”
“Cool?” Emmy frowned, stepping back a little.
“Yeah, you get boobs.” Katie gestured to her chest “They tend to fascinate most men.”
Katie followed her daughter upstairs where Emmy retreated into the bathroom, whilst Katie found her some pads before she stripped the sheets down and headed to the utility room at the side of the kitchen that held their washing machines and dryer. She was just turning the machine on when the door opened and Steve stepped in, Jamie on his back, giggling away. Steve’s face was red from the brisk November air and the part of Jamie’s cheeks which were visible from beneath his hat and above his scarf were also tinged pink a little.
“Laugh it up, Pal.”  Steve shook his head, as he bent down so Jamie could slide off his back “That’s the last time I’m taking you.” “You said that yesterday, and the day before.” Katie smirked, taking the kiss Steve offered, ignoring Jamie’s noise of disgust. “You love it.”
“Hmmm.” Steve made a non-committal noise in his throat. “Any breakfast going or shall I start some?” “Go get a shower and I’ll make it. We can eat together when Emmy’s out of the bath.”
Steve frowned “Shouldn’t she be on the bus?”
“She’s not feeling too good.” Katie shook her head. “I told her I’d stay home with her, today.”
Steve’s frown deepened as he shrugged off his running jacket. “What’s wrong with her? She sick?” “It’s nothing a day in front of the TV, a heat pad and a blanket can’t fix.” Katie gave him a significant look. As ever it took him a while to cotton on, but when he realised what she was saying, Katie really had to bite back the laugh as his face rearranged itself into a look of surprise, which flickered to pure dumbfoundedness as he struggled for a reply.
“Don’t worry, I got it.” She grinned, patting his chest.
“Momma?” A voice came from the kitchen and Katie turned to face Jamie who was stood by the fridge “I’m hungry.” “Yeah, I’m gonna start breakfast now, baby.” she smiled, “Eggs and toast ok?” “Nomm!” He grinned as he padded over to the table and pulled himself up into a seat. Steve had to give a snort, without his seat he could barely see over the top of the table. He made his way over, lifted Jamie easily with one hand causing the boy to cackle before he replaced him back on the booster and scooted him closer.
“That better?” He asked, dropping a kiss to his son’s head.
“Fankoo, daddy.” he grinned.
“You’re welcome, Buddy.” Steve said straightening up. He turned to Katie “I’m gonna go shower then I’ll come help.”
Katie waved him away with a smile. He took the stairs two at a time and headed into their bedroom. If he was honest he’d been shitting himself about this day for ages. He’d watched Emmy grow up way too fast for his liking over the past few years and now, well he didn’t even want to think about the whole turning into a woman thing. All he knew was he was thankful for Katie’s level head.
He showered quickly, dressed in a pair of dark jeans and a red plaid button down ready for his meetings that day and headed onto the landing, just as Emmy was emerging from the larger bathroom wrapped in a robe.
“Hey, Sweetie. Your Ma said you’re not feeling too good.”
She shrugged, “Not really.” “Will a hug help?” He asked and she smiled, nodding. He opened his arms and she stepped into them as he gave her a soft but firm snuggle.
“Thanks, dad.” she said softly.
“Any time, baby.” he dropped a kiss to her head. “Now I’d go get dressed if I were you, before your brother eats all the breakfast.”
When Steve came back that evening, his girls were pretty much in the same spot they had been in all day. When he asked if they’d moved at all, Katie grinned and pointed out that they were both in clean sets of Pyjamas and Jamie was in bed, so of course they had moved, and that they were getting take-out for Dinner because she couldn’t be bothered to cook and it was Friday after all. With a good natured roll of his eyes, Steve cast one final look at them over his shoulder before he headed upstairs to change, leaving them to watch Love Actually. It was nowhere near Christmas, but he knew what they were like when it came to their soppy films, so he left them to it.
When he came back downstairs they were deep in conversation, so he paused for a moment at the door. He didn’t mean to listen in, but he didn’t want to interrupt. And if he was honest, there was something so pure and innocent about their chat that he simply couldn’t help it.
“You know, I still never forgave Adam Rickman for breaking Emma Thompson’s heart.” Katie sighed as Emmy scoffed.
“Has Dad ever bought you a really crappy gift?” she asked.
“No.” Katie replied. “He’s very thoughtful. Although the best gift he gave me wasn’t one he bought anyway.” “Your emerald?” Emmy asked, and Katie made a noise of affirmation. They fell silent for a moment before Emmy spoke again.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Course.”
“If anything happened to Dad, do you think you’d ever like date again?”
Steve frowned slightly as he heard Katie exhale “That’s deep Em. I dunno. I don’t think I’d ever be able to love another man the way I love Steve. In fact I know I wouldn’t. What on Earth made you ask that?” “Oh, Brooke is trying to get Jen dating but she keeps saying she loves Brooke’s dad too much and I kinda think it’s sad as he’s been dead for years. ” “Yeah, well, the thing is Em when you’re in love, and I mean truly in love, it consumes you. That person becomes as much a part of your life as you are and to lose them like that…well I can’t imagine what a hole that would leave in their place.”
“Yeah, suppose.” “You’ll figure that out soon enough.” Katie chuckled.
“Was Dad your first love?”
“He’s been the only man I’ve ever truly been in love with, yes.” Katie replied “For most people a first love and a true love are very different things.”
“How do you mean?”
“Well, for instance my first love was a guy called Mikey, he was my first boyfriend. I wasn’t much older than you, dated him for about twelve months.” Katie mused. “He was the first guy I ever slept with. Then there was Grant and we don’t talk about him, ever as he was an asshole.”
Emmy gave a snort
“But your dad, well, he was different. We cared so much about each other before we even started dating. I mean, if I’m honest, I loved him way before he even asked me out.” “Who made the first move?” “He did.” Katie smirked and at that point Steve gave a scoff and walked into the room.
“Liar.” “Oh you so did!” Katie looked at him, unabashed he’d been listening. “You kissed me after Rumlow’s party. You’d have kissed me before that as well if you hadn’t been such a chicken shit.” Steve rolled his eyes and flopped onto the seat at the opposite side of the coffee table. “You didn’t exactly push me away.” “Dur.” It was Katie’s time to roll her eyes as Emmy snorted “I’d been waiting for you to make a move for months.”
Steve raised an eyebrow at her as the teenager quipped. “You were still a bit slow on the uptake back then I see.” “Err, less of your cheek young lady.” He shot back and she giggled.
“You know the first time we had sex he literally ripped my pants off.” Katie grinned at Steve and he pulled a face as Emmy cackled.
“Jesus, Doll.” He flushed bright red.
“Wasn’t the only time either.” “Okay,” Steve stood up with a sigh, shaking his head, as Emmy cackled. He wasn’t particularly keen on discussing his sex life with his fifteen year old kid. “I’m gonna get the Thai Menu.”
Katie watched him go before she winked at Emmy and stood up, following him into the kitchen. She wrapped her arms around his waist and nuzzled into his shoulder. “I love how after all this time I can still make you blush.” “You’re a damned nightmare.” He chuckled as his hands rest on top of hers, using them to pull her closer as he turned to face her.
“But you love me.”
“Yeah, yeah I do.” He smiled, dropping a kiss to her lips.
****
Steve didn’t quite rip Katie’s pants off that night, but it was still passionate enough to send them both into an orgasm induced sleep almost straight away. But Steve was a light sleeper, not as light as he had been once-upon-a-time, as sleeping besides his wife gave him a sense of peace. That said, his super-soldier hearing always woke him should something be out of place, so when he was pulled from his slumber it took him a while to realise that the soft voices he could hear downstairs was the TV. Knowing it could only be one person, he swung his legs out of bed and pulled on a sweater before he padded down the stairs.
“Emmy?” He asked gently as he opened the door to the living room. The teenager looked up from where she was sat, knees tucked up besides her.
“Couldn’t sleep.” She shrugged and his sharp eyes didn’t miss the movement her hand made over her tummy. “And lying in bed was doing my head in.”
“Did you take anything?” Steve asked and she looked at him. “For the pain?”
“Oh,” she flushed slightly, “yeah, but it hasn’t worked yet.”
Steve nodded and headed into the kitchen, putting on the kettle. He made the pair of them a hot drink, stuck another heat-pack in the microwave and then paused as he passed the cupboard where he kept his secret stash.
Well, if this wasn’t an occasion it was called for then what was?
Emmy looked up as he walked back into the lounge. He placed the peppermint tea down on the table in front of her, before he passed her the heat pack and then wordlessly produced the Dairy Milk bar from his sweatpants pocket.
“You’re giving me your chocolate?” Emmy looked at him.
“Don’t tell your brother.” Steve said as he sat next to her, flopping his feet up on the coffee table.
She grinned and unwrapped the bar, offering him a piece which he took and shoved in his mouth.
“You’re pretty clued up on all this given you’re like a hundred and five.” She grinned cheekily
“Yeah well, I’ve been with your ma for ten years so I picked up a few tips.” He shrugged. She took a sip of her drink, rearranged her blanket and then picked up his arm so she could snuggle into him. He gently ran his hand over the back of her head as she got comfortable.
“What we watching?” He asked.
“Bad Boys.”
Steve chuckled. “I like this one. That is if I’m not too old to keep you company for a while?” “Nah.” She grinned as she placed a kiss to his cheek. “You’re good.” Katie found the pair of them flat out on the sofa the next morning, Emmy’s head propped up on a pillow as she snuggled up against Steve, her back pressed to his chest as the solider was stretched out down the sofa behind her, arms around his daughter as they slept.
October 2022
“All set?” Katie asked as she reached the bottom of the stairs as Steve walked back into the hall having loaded their bags into the car. They were heading off to Tony’s lake-house for a few days where he was throwing a bit of a Halloween party, nothing major but it was a chance for the kids to get dressed up in costumes and eat a load of candy whilst the adults could kick back and drink. Katie was looking forward to it for two reasons. Firstly, it was always nice to gather together with friends and family, well those of them that were left post snap-it made her feel normal, and she could push that persistent feeling of sadness that seemed to manifest on a daily basis, back down into the depth of her mind. And secondly, she was a little excited because she had no idea what Emmy or Jamie’s outfits were going to be.
Emmy had asked a month or so ago if she could be in charge of getting the pair of them costumes and Katie had agreed, simply handing over her card when she wanted to order whatever it was off the internet. She’d even resisted the urge to check her statement to see what it was, as Emmy had demanded she didn’t try and find out. Katie had a sneaking suspicion that Tony had also been involved in these costume choices, as the last time her brother had been over a few weeks ago, the pair of them had been huddled on the large arm chair, sniggering as they looked at something on Tony’s phone. With that in mind she was expecting Jamie to come down in some form of Iron Man or Captain America costume and she had every intention of filming Steve’s response.
“Yup. Locked and loaded.” Steve nodded, dropping a kiss to her cheek.”As soon as the kids are ready we can go.”
“No rush.” Katie shrugged, looking at her watch as they walked into the kitchen. “We don’t need to be there for a few hours.” She wrinkled her nose and slapped at Steve’s hand as he went to peek under the foil wrapped plate on the side. He sharply withdrew it and grinned at her.
“Tell me that’s a pie.”
“Apple and pumpkin, but it’s for the party.”
Steve pouted and she laughed and jerked her head behind her. “There’s another there as I knew you wouldn’t be able to wait.”
“You-” Steve pecked her lips “-are” another peck “-the best.”
“Flattery will get you everywhere, Captain.” She smirked as his lips hovered over hers and he deepened the kiss slightly, both his hands sliding down to give her ass a playful squeeze before he stepped back and walked over to his coveted prize. Steve peeled back the little cloth that was over the top and gave a little groan that was positively sinful as he inhaled the smell.
“Don’t eat that straight out of the pie dish,” Katie warned him as he made his way to the freezer for the ice cream, “I was gonna cut a few slices for the kids to munch on the way.”
“Then they can get their own.” Steve grumbled a little, but he grabbed a plate none the less.
“Oh yeah, where from?” Katie asked, her hands on her hips.
“Don’t know, don’t care.” Steve muttered as he cut himself a huge slice of the coveted pie. He ladled a generous amount of vanilla ice cream on top then carried it over to the breakfast bar, sitting down as Katie gathered the rest of the food items she had said she would bring which included a huge dish of Mac and Cheese that she’d coloured green with food colouring, spaghetti and meatballs that were supposed to be worms,  cinnamon and apple cookies in the shape of pumpkins and a batch of home-made raspberry and cherry gin which had been done using the raspberries and cherries from the brambles and trees in their small orchard at the bottom of the garden. She began packing it all into a hamper as Steve took the first bit of his pie and gave another groan.
“You know,” he swallowed, waving his fork at her as he gave her a playful grin, “I think this pie is actually better than sex.”
Katie looked at him, arching her eyebrow. “Is that so?”
“It’s a very close call.” He nodded.
“Well maybe I should make you a pie once a week instead of letting you get me on my back.” Katie looked at him, closing the lid on the basket and pushing it to one side, leaning over the breakfast bar.
“Okay, first off we have sex way more than once a week,” Steve pointed his fork at her, “and second-“ his eyes glinted cheekily “-you’re not always on your back.”
“True.” Katie pursed her lips and reached for his fork, snatching it from his hand, “but if you think I’m baking a pie more than once a week you’ve got another thing coming.” She used the fork to take a piece of the sweet treat along with a large blob of ice cream and shoved it in her mouth, closing her eyes. She moaned a little, ensuring that the noise that left her throat was as sinful as she could make it, before she opened her eyes and used her thumb to wipe at a little trickle of ice cream in the corner of her mouth. With her eyes locked on Steve she sucked her thumb clean and smirked a little at the familiar glint of dark in his eyes that he always got when he was turned on.
“You’re lucky you’re the other side of the breakfast bar.” He leaned forward a little, elbows resting on the marble surface, his voice a low timbre that sent those familiar sparks up Katie’s spine.
“Yeah? Why’s that?” Katie asked innocently, ignoring the sudden flutter she’d felt between her legs at his tone.
“Because if you weren’t you be in my lap right now testing my theory.”
“Shame.” She nodded, looking around. “I mean it’s not like you could reach and drag me over it or anything.”
“Well I could,”  Steve agreed, “but there’s a piece of pie in the way. And it’s too good to waste.”
“You’re a jerk!” Katie shook her head as Steve laughed, before he leaned back in the stool and patted his right thigh.
“C’mere pretty girl.”
Katie grinned, the sound of him calling her pretty girl always did things to her, as did the soft instruction to ‘come here’ in his Brooklyn accent. She rounded the bar and he reached out, easily pulling her onto his lap so she was perched sideways, legs hanging over the side of his right thigh as he curled his left arm around her waist, right gently resting on her thigh. Katie’s right arm slid round his neck and he titled his face to look at her.
“Just for the record you taste far better than any pie you make.” He grinned and Katie’s mouth fell open at his dirty comment.
“Steven Grant Rogers!” She snorted, slapping his shoulder slightly and he laughed, his hand on her thigh tightening its grip slightly, fingers curling round the toned muscles which were evident once more due to Katie having started training again. Steve actually kind of missed the softness that she’d had since having Jamie but he was damned if he was going to tell her that. He leaned towards her slightly, his nose bumping hers a little as she gently trailed her hand over the nape of his neck, nails scratching just below his hair line above the collar of his black sweater.
“Love you.” He muttered gently, his lips brushing hers and she smiled, her fingers tanging in the hair at the back of his head.
“More than apple pie?”
“Infinitely Mrs Rogers.”
“More than Mac and Cheese?”
Steve hesitated and Katie scoffed.
“For the record I love you more than anything.” Steve chuckled, pressing his lips to hers. “Well, apart from the kids.”
“I’ll accept that exception.” Katie chuckled, her mouth finding his again. The kiss deepened, Katie letting out a soft sigh as his tongue brushed against hers, tasting the apple pie and Ice Cream he had been eating before. Steve’s hand skated up the outside of her thigh coming to rest on her hip, finger tips brushing the strip of skin where her top had ridden up slightly as her own hand fisted slightly in his hair. Completely lost in one another they almost missed the little footsteps coming down the stairs and the giggles in the hallway.
Almost.
Steve pulled back, looking at Katie who grinned. “Play your cards right we can finish this later.”
“At Tony’s?”
“Won’t be the first time we fucked in his spare room.”
Steve snorted at her and patted her ass as she hopped off his lap.
“Mom, Dad!” Emmy called. “We’re ready!”
“We heard!” Katie called back as Steve stood up, grabbing his plate of pie. He took another bite before he wandered into the hallway where he collided with Katie who had stopped dead just outside the door. Frowning he looked up and felt his heart jump.
A clown.
His 2 year old son was dressed as a fucking clown.
And not just any clown, which would have been bad enough, but that bastard clown from IT. The film he refused time and time again to watch because of said bastard clown, which was now stood on the bottom step of the stairs holding a red balloon.
And suddenly, all he could see was that damned clown at Coney Island chasing him through the stalls, Bucky’s laughter echoing in his ears, and then that fucking mirror maze where he’d had the panic attack as he was surrounded by them.
The plate holding his precious pie slipped from his hand and dropped to the tiled floor, where it broke into 3 pieces, its contents splattering all over the grey slate.
“Woah, Dad, didn’t think it would be that scary!” Emmy grinned from behind Jamie as she stood in her outfit, which was a superb replica of the Wicked Witch of the West complete with full green face-paint and a broomstick.
Katie looked over her shoulder at Steve and she could see from his face that he was really struggling to keep it together. Trying not to laugh at the expression of sheer horror on his handsome features, she clamped her lips together and turned to Emmy.
“Your dad’s…” she took a deep breath, trying not to laugh “He’s scared of clowns.”
“Oh…” Emmy frowned “Uncle Tony said he would love it.”
“I bet he did.” Steve bit out a little harshly and Emmy looked at him.
“Are you mad?” She asked and seeing the look on her face Steve inwardly cursed his phobia and his damned brother in law.
“No, honey,” he shook his head, “not at all…you both look…” he trailed off.
“Daddy, look!” Jamie grinned, and he jumped off the bottom step. “Balloon!”
He toddled over towards Steve who automatically took a few steps back and Jamie stopped in front of him, right by Katie’s side, a confused expression crossing his painted face. “Daddy?”
“Yeah, pal…I gotta…” Steve exhaled “I gotta put some stuff in the car so we can to go to Uncle Nee’s okay?”
“Kay…” Jamie said a little quietly.
Katie watched, her shoulders shaking in silent laughter as Steve went to move round Jamie, turning sideways so he could keep his eyes on him, before he pushed past Emmy and bolted up the stairs taking them three at a time.
The hallway was silent bar the sounds Lucky was making as he cleaned up the remnants of the pie on the floor, not wanting to miss a single crumb of his human food treasure.
“Em, why don’t you two take Lucky and go get in the car, we’ll be out in a little moment.” Katie smiled at her.
“Okay. Come on Jay!” Em grabbed his hand but Jamie, clearly now finding the reaction his dad had amusing, turned to his mom and made a little growling noise at her. Katie gave a fake scream and jolted back, causing Jamie to cackle a little, tilting his head back in mirth before allowed Emmy to lead him away.
As soon as they were out of sight and earshot Katie started to laugh. She laughed so hard that she had to retreat to the kitchen to sit at a chair. She doubled over, clutching at her stomach, trying to gather her breath as the tears poured down her face. Try as she might, she couldn’t get the image of Steve fighting the urge to punt his own son into another room out of her head.
Eventually she managed to sort herself out enough to grab her phone and swiped over to the number she wanted.
“Hey, Kiddo.”  Tony greeted
“Tony, you…” she started to laugh again “You better be able to run fast because Steve…he’s…”
Tony chuckled. “He liked the costume then?”
“Tony he freaked, like, seriously. Poor Steve. I expected some form of full Captain America outfit, not that!”
“Well, on this occasion the Spangles just weren’t enough”
“You’re a little shit, you know that?”
“It’s been said.” He conceded. “Did you get it on video?”
“No.” Katie sighed “I was going to but when I saw Pennywise on my damned stairs I knew what was gonna happen so…”
“Shame.We could have played that back later. For science.”
At that point Katie looked up as Steve walked into the kitchen, glancing round.
“He’s not in here…” She chuckled and Steve glared at her, before he gestured to the phone.
“That Tony?”
She nodded.
He reached out and snatched the phone off her. “You’re a dead man,” he growled down the handset, and Katie could hear her brother’s roar of laughter before Steve hung up and tossed the phone down onto the table.
“Calm down!” Katie laughed, standing up. “Steve, it’s just a costume.”
“Katie, they freak me the hell out!” he shook his head “You don’t…” his hands dropped to his hips and his head dropped. “Did you see his face when I backed away?”
“Oh, he’s fine!” Katie rubbed Steve’s arms. “He couldn’t care less.” Steve took a deep breath and she looked at him. “Do you want me to get him to change?”
Steve shook his head “No, he was so pleased with himself…plus, I don’t fancy that particular tantrum now do you?”
“Not really no.”
Steve shrugged “Then I guess I’m stuck with it. Come on, let’s get gone. Sooner we get there the sooner I can carry out my threat to kill your asshole brother.”
Steve grabbed the food hamper and headed out to the car with it, settling it onto the trunk of the car as Katie got into the passenger side. Once Steve finished his usual checks to ensure the door was locked, he climbed into the driver’s seat ant they set off.
“Daddy?”
“Yeah buddy?” Steve asked, glancing in the mirror automatically and once more was confronted by that fucking clown. He swallowed and turned his eyes to the front.
“No scared, daddy. I not a real clown.”
Katie chuckled as Steve pulled out of the drive onto the road. “I know pal, but it’s Halloween. Everyone gets scared at some point.”
Jamie nodded, accepting his answer and turned to look out of the window. As they approached a junction, Steve checked the mirror again and then sighed, shaking his head.
“You’re gonna hafta drive.” He looked at Katie.
“What?”
“I can’t do it.” He shrugged “Every time I check the mirror, all I can see is…”
“Are you being serious?” Katie looked at him.
“Absolutely.” Steve unclipped the seatbelt and climbed out of the car.
And right then Katie vowed that if Steve didn’t kill Tony, she was gonna.
December 2022
“Did he go down alright?”
Steve dropped onto the couch, picking up one of the super strength beers Thor had send him as part of a pre- Christmas testing package, lifting his arm up so Katie could settle into him.
“Very well, actually,” he narrowed his eyes taking a pull of his beer, “almost suspiciously so.”
Katie chuckled as she replaced her glass and dropped her head to Steve’s shoulder as she pressed play on the remote. The two of them simply stayed like that, the odd movement and hands stroking shoulders, thighs or knees as usual, comfortable in their own little world, the light of the fire and twinkling of the Christmas lights giving the room a cosy, comfy ambience. They were about thirty minutes into the film when, Katie felt Steve’s head move off the top of hers and she glanced at him and saw the beginnings of a smile forming on his face.
“What?”
He looked down at her. “You know,” he said, a light in his eyes that she knew all too well, “It’s Friday, Emmy’s out, Jamie’s in bed…” Steve trailed off and raised an eyebrow at his wife. She grinned too, mirroring his expression.
“I like where this is going,” she smirked and within seconds, her legs had been pulled from underneath her drawing a giggle from her lips as she lay flat on the sofa, Steve hovering over her. Katie wrapped her arms around his neck as their lips met, and she was just beginning to thread her fingers through his hair when they both heard a shout.
“Heeeeeyyyyy!”
Steve dropped his head and groaned. “I’ll go.”
He placed one last kiss on her lips before he stood up off the couch and headed into the hall way.
“You’re supposed to be in bed,” he said as he headed up the stairs, seeing Jamie stood in his doorway at the baby gate.
“No sleep.” Jamie’s response was a whine.
“Not an option pal” Steve shook his head, a hint of amusement in his voice. “You know Santa won’t come if you don’t.”
“Can’t sleep.” Jamie tried again, and Steve had to bite back the smile that was about to cross his face. His son had certainly inherited his, and his wife’s for that matter, tenacity.
“Did you even try?”
There was a pause and Jamie furiously nodded his head in a blatant lie.
“Sure you did.” Steve rolled his eyes “Well what do you think would help you sleep?”
“Story, daddy!”
At those words a smile spread across Steve’s face. Over the last six months, Jamie had taken a real interest in the tales he told him, so much so that they had swapped night time readings of chapters from books for Steve’s real life stories, most of them being pulled straight from the streets of Brooklyn or Manhattan during Steve’s own childhood or adulthood pre-serum.
“One more.” Steve caved and Jamie shrieked with delight. “But!” he continued in a warning tone, “You have to be quiet.”
Jamie stilled immediately and clapped his little hands over his mouth before he turned and ran, diving back on his bed. Steve chuckled and made his into Jamie’s room, as the two year old climbed under his Iron Man Duvet cover (Thank you Tony for that one…) and peered up at Steve as he settled down next to him, his son setting under his arm, snuggling into the crook of his arm against his chest.
“Did I ever tell you about the time that I went to the theatre-”
Katie didn’t wait for Steve to come back down, she knew full well that he would have been coerced into one more story. Their son had his dad wrapped around his little finger, and Steve at times found it simply impossible to say no. She glanced up at the clock, noting that it was almost nine… they could watch the film in bed. She turned the TV and tree lights off, she took the empty glass and bottle into the kitchen, let Lucky out for a pee whilst she made sure all the doors were locked before letting the now slightly older and slower dog back in.
“You staying here tonight, Luck?” She asked, and the dog yawned, stretching as he rolled onto his back in the dog basket which was placed in the hallway under the stairs. “Take that as a yes then.” She scratched behind his ears before standing up and creeping up the stairs to the door of her son’s room, which was open enough for her to peek through.
She loved Steve’s stories almost as much as Jamie did, if not for the same reasons. Jamie loved their action and adventure, often joining in with his own loud whoops and laughs, but Katie simply loved listening to Steve’s voice as he narrated. His tone would change from low and dramatic to loud and comical, and Katie found it simply adorable. A pure, unadulterated moment of love between father and son that made her heart swell every single time she watched or overheard.
“And then, all of a sudden this man appeared, in the alley way. And I didn’t have anything to protect myself with. So I picked up a trash can lid, and held it right here, like a shield.” Steve drew his arm across his chest. “Like Cap?” Jamie said, thrusting his Captain America bear at his dad.
“Just like Cap, yeah, Buddy.” Katie smiled to herself, Jamie was still too young to really understand about their history with the Avengers. He knew about who the Avengers were, well what he could grasp being so young, thanks mainly to Tony and Natasha, but he had no idea about his dad’s alter ego. And for now, it wasn’t important, they were just a normal family and long may it stay like that.
Katie watched as Steve continued to talk as he sat up on Jamie’s bed, his back against the headboard as his mini-me, led besides him, looking up at his father, eyes wide and full of adoration. These were the moments that brought out all of Steve’s best characteristics, and Katie simply loved him all the more for it. Smiling to herself she headed into their bedroom and tossed her clothes aside before she stepped into the shower in their en-suite.
Steve could read his son’s body language like a book, and about ten minutes after his super hearing heard Katie leaving where she had been stood outside the room listening, he could feel the little boy starting to droop slightly, one small hand fisted into Steve’s white t-shirt, the other was in front of his small face, thumb in his mouth as his index finger gently rubbed against that Stark nose. A few moments later he glanced down and in the dim glow of the dinosaur night light, he saw his son was fast asleep. Gently, he moved and stepped off the bed, tucking the duvet up under Jamie’s chin before he stooped, dropping a kiss onto his head, his hand gently caressing the shock of blonde hair. With a last look back he closed the door to, leaving it open just a chink, and headed into their room.
Katie was just emerging from the en-suite wearing a bathrobe, long hair piled up on her head.
“He has you wrapped around his finger.” She grinned, sliding her hands up her husband’s chest.
“Oh, and you don’t?” He muttered, hands connecting at the bottom of her spine.
“You gonna read me a bed time story then, Captain?”
“I got a better way of getting you to sleep.” He murmured, dropping his lips to hers, and she grinned as he backed her towards the bed. “There’s only one problem.” “Oh yeah?” She asked, as his arms pulled her closer, his lips trailed down her neck, mopping up the speckles of water from the shower that remained.
“Yeah, this is in the way.”
He softly kissed at that spot beneath her ear, his hand dropping to the belt of her robe. She grinned as he pulled at the tie and gently shrugged the robe off Katie’s shoulders, allowing it to drop to the floor as his lips claimed hers again. He wrapped an arm round her back, tugging her onto her toes so he could take a nipple in his mouth and she let out a groan as she looked downwards, moving her hands to undo the chords on his sweat pants.
“Off.” She muttered, pulling at the bottom of his t-shirt. He released her temporarily so she could slide it up, before he pivoted and dropped them both onto the bed, trapping her in between his hands and legs.
A familiar warmth exploded along her lower abdomen as he kissed her, one hand on the side of her face, the other sliding to her hip and across her stomach, making its way slowly between her legs. She arched her back and groaned as he slipped two fingers inside her, feeling him smirk against her neck.
“Fucking drenched aren’t you, Sweetheart?”
She let out another groan at his words. “Only for you.” A low growl rolled in the back of his throat as he slammed his mouth onto hers, shucking off his sweats as he began to kiss her chest, then stomach, before going down her legs.  He set his mouth to her, lapping at her, her sweet, salty tang, so familiar yet so delectable, and as he worked her, it was all she could do to mewl softly, and grip one hand in his hair as she writhed at his touch. His tongue flicked strongly and he sucked at her clit gently, before upping the pace as she whimpered, trying so hard to keep her noise down. Steve continued to tease and nibble and when he took her swollen clit between his lips again Katie let out a silent scream as her orgasm hit her hard, causing her knees to turn inwards, squeezing around his head, involuntarily. She fell back against the pillows with a sigh of satisfaction and looked down as Steve crawled back up her body, leaning forward, placing his hands on either side of her head.
“God, you’re gorgeous.” He whispered, making her grin before he crashed his lips onto hers, the sudden action drawing a small grunt from her mouth. She reached down taking him in her hand and he took in a sharp breath as he pulled away from her mouth, sliding his fingers down her legs. He moved her legs apart and pushed into her, a low sigh of satisfaction leaving both their lips before he began to move, burying his face into her neck, nipping at the spot under her ear gently. She keened underneath him as he grew more urgent with his thrusts, her eyes locking onto his as he gripped her hands at either side of her head, leaning back down to kiss her fervently. He was hard, fast, desperate for hris release and she met each of his thrusts fervently with her own hips happy to give herself to him.
“So good,” He praised in a low voice, dragging his face against her hair before he looked at her. “I’m close, tell me you are…”
Katie responded with a moan, “Stevie.” and then her legs shook and she came again, closing her eyes as she tightened around him, burying her face into his neck to stifle her noises as the spasms came involuntarily around him again and again.
“Oh, fuck, Doll.” he stuttered, biting his lower lip as his eyes fluttered closed before his rhythm stilled and he let out a soft groan as he came, the utter bliss consuming him fully. He fell forward, head dropping into the hollow of his wife’s neck to catch his breath, his body slumped on top of hers, his familiar weight pressed her into the mattress as they both came down from their high. Katie ran her fingers through his hair, pressing soft kisses along his shoulder as her nails gently scratched at his scalp, causing Steve to hum out a soft sigh of contentment as he lay still, enjoying her touch.
“Stevie?” she muttered.
“Yeah?” “How long do you think we have before Jamie realises he can climb the baby gates now?”
“I’m amazed he hasn’t already.” Steve leaned up on his elbows to look down at his wife “Why?”
“Because I think we might need to invest in a lock for our door.” she grinned “For when you’re reading your baby momma her bedtime story.”
Your Teddy Bear
Mendes Triplet Au (Peter Mendes)
Summary: No one could’ve guessed you would have ended up with Peter, but the two of you give each other a love neither of you ever thought you’d be lucky enough to experience.
Author’s Note: This is my first time writing with the Mendes Triplet concept by @thotmendes and I’m honestly so excited about it. Also, shout out to @fallinallincurls for talking concepts with me the other night that inspired me to write this and @princecharmingmendes for telling me too write it along with a ton of other people that got me to finish this (such as @itrocksmysocks who sent me a bunch of Peter pictures that were absolutely adorable). So I hope you guys enjoy this! It’s literally 4.6k of just pure fluff and more fluff after that. As always please tell me what you think!
Warnings: Mild Swearing (like literally only one or two words)
No one knew how Peter Mendes ended up with you. Hell, Peter didn’t even know how he ended up with someone like you, but somehow almost every night he fell asleep with his head on your chest, your hands brushing through his mess of fluffy curls. You commanded the room any time you walked in it, confidence radiating off you in every aspect as you strode past everyone with your shoulders pushed back and chin held high. Known to be the life of the party, you were the one people could rely on to flirt your way past the guy at the liquor store to bring the best booze to all of the frat parties, and your name was well ingrained into the minds of almost every student at your wide campus.
Peter, on the other hand, was only known by a handful of students and for a completely different set of reasons. Typically when one thought of Peter they first thought of Raul, the oldest of the Mendes triplets that was known for partying and hooking up with girls, or Shawn, the captain of the hockey team that could easily get any girl he wanted just by looking them in the eyes and serenading them with his singing and guitar. If by some miracle they knew Peter for another reason, it’d probably be because he happened to be one of the smartest students in every single one of his classes and often was asked for tutoring or help with homework. When you thought of Peter Mendes you thought of the smart Mendes, which was exactly why it just didn’t seem right that the two of you were together.
It wasn’t like you were unintelligent by any means, you got As and Bs in all of your classes, but you weren’t even close to the level of Peter’s smarts. Most students would say Raul would be your type, you both had dominating, cocky almost personalities on the outside and loved to party, a seemingly perfect fit. Or even Shawn, who had a smooth, laid back persona would be a great match for you if he didn’t already have a girlfriend to love.
But you knew how you ended up with Peter. It was just 6 months ago when that curly headed boy walked into your life, flipping it completely upside down in the best way possible. You remember it clear as day; you had just gone into the kitchen of the frat house to get another drink when you spotted a cuddly giant leaning against the counter looking completely out of place, swirling his drink inside of his solo cup. You excused yourself, reaching behind him to grab some pop causing him to look at you with wide eyes, apologizing profusely for being in your way. Giggling at his reaction you reassured the startled boy that there was nothing to worry about, before properly introducing yourself.
“I’m Y/n by the way.”
“I know,” he responded, cheeks heating up after realizing what he had said. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t completely infatuated by you, how could he not be? You were absolutely gorgeous and the definition of perfection in his eyes, and something about your mysterious aura left him wanting to know everything about you. Yet here he was, completely embarrassing himself in front of the girl he was secretly crushing on. “I’m sorry that was so weird, um, I’m Peter,” he stuck his hand out for you to shake it, a laugh escaping your lips as you took it firmly in your own. His heart was beating out of his chest at the fact that not only were you engaging in a conversation with him, but you had just shaken his hand, which he was now realizing was not a common thing for teenagers to do and was probably screwing up any chance he had of getting to know you.
“So what’s in the cup?” you asked, motioning to the drink that was pretty much still filled to the brim, a clear sign that its contents were not appealing to him.
“Oh, um, it’s beer, but I’m not really that much of a drinker, especially in large crowds.” His cheeks burned bright red under your stare and he wondered how much deeper of a hole he was going to dig himself into with all of this information he was giving out. Surely someone like you would find him boring soon, it was only a matter of time before you left him to talk to someone hotter and much more interesting.
But to his surprise you moved closer, leaning against the counter next to him as you brought your cup to your lips. “Want to know a secret?” you whispered, Peter nodding frantically like a little boy about to get a new toy, “I’m not that into drinking either. I only really do it at parties and even then I usually keep it to a minimum. I’ve been here for three hours and all I’ve had is half a white claws I ended up giving to my friend. This is Pepsi.” You took another sip from your cup, watching as his jaw dropped at the information causing a smirk to form on your face, “You know I’ve never actually told anyone that, but I have a feeling you’re not gonna go around telling everyone what I tell you.”
“No, no, I won't, I promise.”
“Good, now what do you say we find somewhere quieter to get away from all of this. I’ve had a long day and I have a feeling you love parties just as much as you love drinking.” Peter thought he had never smiled so wide as you took his hand and pulled him into an empty room, one you just happened to know wouldn’t be used tonight. The two of you talked for hours, about how he was dragged there and then abandoned by his two identical brothers, to the research he was doing for astronomy class. You listened intently to everything he said, even adding some of your own input about topics he never thought you would be interested in, and he truly thought in that moment that he had never felt more seen, more appreciated and thought of as someone other than the unknown Mendes brother. You parted ways when it got too late for the both of you, exchanging numbers with a promise to see the other again soon, Peter’s heart racing at the thought of seeing you once more. You never told him, but he had your heart that first night you met him, finally having someone who wanted to know more about you than how to get in your pants.
So even though it shocked the entire school to see Peter’s arm wrapped around your shoulders two weeks later, the two of you felt perfectly content and at peace with one another, your personalities balancing each other out, fitting in like the missing pieces to your own individual puzzles. If you ever had a bad day, you knew that the moment you saw your cuddly giant of a boyfriend looking as comfy as ever in his softest sweatshirts, glasses adorning his beautiful face, your mood would instantly be lightened and everything would be alright. And that’s exactly what you needed right now, a cuddly Peter to turn your day around.
So there you were, headed to the triplets apartment off campus to see your man. Raul, Peter, and Shawn had all bought a four-bedroom apartment only a couple minutes off campus after their sophomore year, and you were around so much that they trusted you with the code and your very own key. You fit right in with the boys easily; you had seen Raul and Shawn at a couple parties before you met Peter, but you never spoke more than a few words to one another. Now that you were dating Peter though, you were practically treated as their sister, blending right into the dynamics of their tight knit family. If there was one thing the Mendes brothers were, it was close and you never quite understood how deep their connections were with one another until you were around them so much. Peter was never known to be a player, always wanting to just be in a serious relationship, so it had been years since he had brought a girl home around his brothers. For that very reason, Shawn and Raul were extremely protective over him, but you easily passed the test they gave you right off the bat. They loved you, not to mention they could tell that Peter was head over heels for you long before he told you 3 months into your relationship. He had been laying on your chest, breathing starting to become heavy as you lured him to sleep with your head massages.
“I love you,” he mumbled into your shirt almost incoherently, an innocent slip of the tongue in his sleepy state. You froze, hand pausing in his hair for a second as he whined from the lack of your touch, not even processing what he just said. You hadn’t ever told one of your boyfriends that you loved them, the thought always seeming too permanent and constricting. But Peter was different and you knew that from the start. He made you feel things that you worried in the dead of night you might never experience and even though it was early in your relationship, Peter felt emotions so deeply and openly that your heart was completely owned by him.
“I love you too, Pete.” He hummed in confusion at your words, suddenly a lot more awake as he sat up to look you in the eyes.
“What?”
“You told me you loved me and I said I love you too.”
“You do?” he asked, eyes wide, happy tears prickling in the corners of them.
“I don’t know how I couldn’t bubs,” and with that he surged forward, connecting your lips to his with as much passion as he could possibly muster.
After he woke up, Peter immediately told his brothers about the night’s events, the two of them filled with joy that someone could make their brother as happy as he was. A month later he gave his virginity to you and the praise (and teasing) he got from his brothers was never ending. You weren’t forgotten either for later that day when you showed up, Shawn immediately began wiggling his eyebrows at you as Raul started cracking sexual jokes, Peter looking sheepish in the background. You had rolled your eyes, feigning annoyance, though you could never be truly mad at Peter for sharing your relationship with his brothers. You learned very quickly that there was little to no privacy with the three of them and anything you did was fair game in their conversations. You didn’t mind, you loved how close they were, not to mention how supportive they were of one another, and you definitely didn’t complain when you had two extremely buff guys protecting you from drunk creeps at parties that didn’t seem to grasp the concept that you were in a relationship.
But being close to the brothers also meant they were used to your random appearances when you typically showed up unannounced even to Peter, who never complained about getting to spend more time with you. Which happened to be the case today, when you stormed in, muttering a quick hello to Raul who was spread out on the couch as you headed towards Peter’s room.
“Peter?” you asked, knocking twice before entering at his request, not even greeting him and instead landing face down on his mattress with a huff.
Your boyfriend closed his laptop, saving his work and sitting up to give you his full attention, running his fingers over your back, “What’s wrong, angel?”
“She’s such a bitch!” you complained, rolling over onto your back to stare at the ceiling.
“Who?” This is how it usually went if you were having a bad day, he’d ask you generic questions, allowing you to let out all of your pent up frustration until you were ready to be cuddled for the rest of the night.
“Marissa! You won’t believe this. This guy comes up to me after class today and tries to give me his number and I’m obviously like no, sorry, I’ve already got the greatest man in the world, I don’t have any interest or need for anyone else. But guess what?!”
It didn’t even phase Peter at this point that a guy tried to get your number, it happened so often that he was partially immune to the doubts and jealousy that came with it. In the beginning it was hard for him, constantly feeling like he wasn’t enough and didn’t deserve you, but you proved to him time after time again that you were completely gone for him and that he was more than you could ever dream of. And he would never, ever question your loyalty to him, if there was one thing you weren’t it was a cheater. “What?”
“Turns out this dude had a girlfriend, Marissa, and so of course she was pissed that he was trying to get my number, which is understandable. But guess who she blames it on?”
“You?”
“Me! Like are you KIDDING me?! I’m not the one with loyalty issues here, sweetie, yet here you are accusing me of trying to get with your man. Why would I even want his number? Even if I was a cheater, which ugh I want to throw up just thinking about it, you’re a hundred times hotter and better than him in every way so it doesn’t make sense. So no, it wasn’t me, sorry your boyfriend’s a manwhore, Marissa.”  A chuckle escaped Peter’s lips, head tilting back against the headboard as he laughed. You turned your head at the beautiful sound, meeting his eyes a few seconds later for the first time that night. And just like that. Mood completely better. The sight of him, hair a fluffy mess basically asking to be played with, adorable glasses being pushed up by the scrunch in his nose, and comfy pink sweatshirt on his frame making him look as soft as ever.
“Hi bubs.”
 Peter smiled his loving smile he reserved for you, laughing to himself at how quick your mood could change around him, “Hi angel. Feeling better?”
You nodded, crawling up the bed into his open arms, sliding underneath the covers next to him as you rested your head on his chest, “I love you.”
“I love you so much.” He adjusted in the bed to better lay down with you laying on top of him, stroking your hair before placing gentle kisses on the top of your head, “I missed you.”
“I missed you too, bubs,” you snuggled further into his chest, cheek squishing against the fabric of his sweatshirt, “Just wanna cuddle you all night long.”
“I can do that,” Peter whispered, voice soft against your ear, “You doing anything for the rest of the night? I heard Raul saying there’s a huge frat party he’s going to later.”
“Yeah I heard about that,” you admitted, “But I don’t think I’m gonna go. Rather just lay here with you. If you want to, that is.”
Peter’s heart swelled three sizes at your words, nodding his head as he traced I love you onto your back like he always did when he was given the chance. It was true that ever since you started dating Peter you weren’t found at parties as often as you used to be. You still enjoyed going to them, you even managed to bring Peter to a couple of them and he found them much more enjoyable with you by his side, but more often you found yourself just wanting to stay in with your man rather than being surrounded by a bunch of people you hardly knew. “I’d love that,” he spoke against your ear, still leaving butterfly kisses in your hair, “Why don’t we have a movie night? I bought your favorite cookie dough, I could go pop them in the oven if you wanted.”
Your head perked up at his words, a smile gracing your face, “Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip?”
“Mhm,” he hummed in response, a squeal leaving your mouth as you jumped off the bed pulling him with you.
“Come on, come on, cookies, Pete!” He laughed, grabbing your hand in his and letting you drag him to the kitchen. He loved how different you were with him, how you were so carefree and loving compared to the confident, I don’t care vibe you gave off to everyone. It was like a secret only he got to see and as long as you kept showing it to him, he was gonna soak in every second of it.
Upon arriving in the kitchen, you jumped to sit onto the counter while Peter rummaged through the fridge in search of the mouth-watering cookie dough. You leaned over to wash your hands in the sink next to him before rolling the dough into large balls to get the biggest cookies possible. The first time you made cookies with Peter he was shocked at how much dough you were rolling for one cookie, claiming that they weren’t going to turn out well if they weren’t perfectly symmetrical to the suggested sizing on the side of the packaging. But once he tasted the big cookies he had no complaints, and neither did the rest of the triplets. Once the package was finished and you had two sheets of cookies in the oven, you watched as Peter set the timer on the oven, little tongue sticking out in concentration.
“Come here, big guy,” you motioned him closer to you, wrapping your legs around his waist once he stood in the middle of them, hands on your thighs. You placed your hands on his shoulders, one hand making its way to play with the curls on the back of his neck. He stared up at you with doe like eyes, hands frozen on your thighs no matter how much he wanted to move them. Even if you had been dating for over half a year now, Peter was still shy and nervous about touching you, so even having him put his hands there in the first place without you telling him it was ok was a big deal. “You can move your hands if you want,” you whispered, eyes holding his soft gaze, feeling his thumbs start to slowly rub circles against the fabric of your jeans, “You’re so handsome, did you know that?”
He blushed at your words, head ducking down to look at the ground, “‘M not handsome, you just have to say that cause I’m your boyfriend.” You knew Peter always had trouble with having self confidence, years of believing that his brothers were better than him really took a toll on his heart. But even if he was a part of three identical triplets, every time you looked at him all you saw was the cutest, most handsome man alive. Maybe he didn’t have endless tattoos like Raul, or piercings like Shawn, but he was Peter, your Peter, and you would do anything to convince him that he was more than enough for anyone, especially himself.
“Pete, look at me.” You lifted his chin up with your finger, other hand smoothing along his shoulder, “I would never tell you something that wasn’t true. I don’t tell you you’re handsome because I feel I have some weird requirement as your girlfriend to do so, I do it because every time I look at you I get butterflies in my stomach over how gorgeous you are. No one has ever made me feel like you do, bubs, and I just wish you could see what I see when I look at you.” With that you brought his lips to yours, tasting the sweet vanilla of his chapstick as he moved in sync with you. You squeezed your legs tighter around him, one hand deep in his unruly curls as you pulled him closer to you, his hands moving up to find purchase on your hips. He squeezed your hips lightly three times, a silent I love you as you kissed, causing a smile to form on your face at the soft boy in your arms.
“You better not be fucking over there!” Raul’s voice tore through the moment, the two of you breaking away from each other in order to turn around towards the couch where he was staring back at you with eyebrows raised. You rolled your eyes at his antics, turning around to find Peter with red stained cheeks and bashful eyes before calling back to the older triplet, “Don’t worry, Raul, we’re not stealing your job!”
A sincere laugh escaped Raul’s lips as you lightly pushed your boyfriend away so you could hop off the counter, earning a small whine from him in response, “Come on, bubs, let’s check on these cookies.” A couple minutes later you had a fresh batch of cookies sitting on top of the oven, the smell filling the entire apartment quick enough to have Raul next to the two of you in minutes with an already burnt tongue because he refused to wait for them to cool down. Just as you and Peter had bit into your first cookie, Shawn had come stumbling into the house with his hockey gear, a wide smile on his face, “Do I smell cookies?”
“Only the best. Want one?” you asked, handing him the plate, while Raul complained from next to you that he was just about to grab another.
“Is that even a question?” he asked, practically moaning when the taste hit his mouth, “And this is why I love having you around.”
“You say that like I’m the one that buys and makes the cookies. Peter’s the one that does all the work.”
“Yeah, but Peter only makes them for you. We only had oven baked cookies once or twice a year before you came.”
“Hey! I make dinner for you guys almost every night,” Peter countered, a slight furrow to his brows, “Not my fault the both of you can’t make your way around the kitchen without burning it.”
“Can’t argue with that,” Raul said, snatching one last cookie before heading off to his room.
“Come on, bubs,” you ushered your boyfriend forward, grabbing his hand as he picked up the plate of cookies, “Let’s go watch Netflix.”
“But I only got one cookie!” Shawn whined from behind the two of you.
“You can get them once we’re done,” you called out before shutting Peter’s door, “if there’s any left.” Peter laughed from behind you, loving the relationship you had with his brothers. Honestly, he didn’t know what he would do if you didn’t get along with them, his brothers were his world and their opinion mattered to him more than anyone else’s. But now that you were so prominently in his life, he could easily say that your opinion was on that same level, if not higher than that of his brothers.
“Hey angel?” he asked nervously, playing with the strings on the hood of his sweatshirt.
“Yeah, bubs?”
“Are you doing anything tomorrow morning?”
“I don’t think so, why?”
“Do you maybe want to stay the night?” You had stayed the night a handful of times, probably more than you should for the length of your relationship, and everytime the two of you woke up with the most content smiles on your faces, wanting nothing more than to just stay that way for the rest of the day.
“Of course, Pete, as long as I get to steal one of your sweatshirts to sleep in,” you told him, walking over to him and replacing his hands with yours on his hoodie strings. His hands found their way to your hips, rubbing in gentle circles to calm the racing heart he always had around you.
“I’ll give you all of my sweatshirts, you look better in them anyways.”
“Shut up,” you mumbled, giving him a soft kiss, “I’ve never met a man that looks more cuddly in a sweatshirt than you do. You’re my teddy bear, bubs.” A wide smile formed on Peter’s face and he leaned in to kiss your lips one more time before he was opening the drawer to his sweatshirts. He handed you the one he knew was always your favorite, grabbing his own set of flannel pants and a shirt to sleep in. He turned around to let you change in privacy while he did the same, even though the two of you had seen each other in much more intimate situations prior to this. No matter how many times you told him he didn’t have to turn around, he always claimed he just wanted to respect you and didn’t want you to feel uncomfortable in any way, shape, or form.
“All done, bubs, come cuddle.” You opened your arms to him from where you were laying in his bed and a large smile found its way to his face as he launched himself into your arms. Giggling at your adorable boyfriend, you adjusted so he could lay under the covers with his arms wrapped around your body. You turned the tv on, scrolling through random romcoms on Netflix while Peter munched on a cookie beside you. One of the things you loved about Peter was how much he loved romcoms, always falling in love with the romantic content as much as you.
Halfway through the movie and you swore the two of you had eaten enough cookies to keep you full for a week, while saving one for Shawn of course. Somewhere in the midst of things, Peter’s head found its way to its beloved spot on your chest and your fingers immediately began massaging through the curls on his head. “You smell different, Pete. Did you change shampoo or cologne or something?” You couldn’t put your finger on it, but the more kisses you left on his curls, the more you felt something was different. He dug his head into your (his) sweatshirt, mumbling something incoherent while trying to hide his rosy red cheeks. “What are you trying to say? I can’t hear you while you’re eating my sweatshirt,” you teased, watching as his red face lifted up to meet yours.
“It’s yours,” he mumbled again, shoving his face back into your chest. You leaned down again, taking a sniff of his hair and finding it to resemble your typical scent right away.
“Why are you using my shampoo, bubs?”
He sighed, turning his head so you could hear him better, “Cause you left one of your bottles here last time you used it and I don’t know, just missed you a lot and you always smell so good.”
“Oh yeah, what do I smell like?”
“Home.” He answered with such sincerity that you knew this was something he had thought about for a long time. Your heart burst, love pouring out of you in such ways that you almost felt like crying happy tears right there on the spot.
“I, um, I have a candle that I keep next to my bed because I think it smells like your cologne. And it calms me down when I’ve had a bad day and I can’t come see you,” you confessed, hands coming back to his hair.
“You can always come see me, angel. Love having you around.”
You smiled to yourself when you heard his speech becoming more slurred, sleep overcoming him, “I love you, Pete.”
“I love you too, angel. My beautiful, beautiful angel.” He left feather-like kisses over your sweatshirt-clad chest, snuggling deeper into your warmth as his breathing began to even out. You reached over to turn off the tv, feeling safer than you’ve ever felt with your big, cuddly teddy bear in your arms.
15/09/2021-Part 2: Bushy Park
The sun was shining well when we arrived at Bushy Park too and after seeing another bird we cannot do this annual trip without in a channel or water right at the car park more astonishingly close views of a Grey Heron which I loved seeing and took the first picture in this photoset of, Coots looked marvellous sun kissed. There were a line of adorable chicks racing through the lake as well. I took the second, seventh and eighth pictures in this photoset of beautiful views from our time at Bushy Park today.
Some eye catching water mint allured me in this sunlight and just as I got my macro lens out for a picture of it things got even better when a Green-veined White butterfly flew down and I got some cracking and intimate views of this stunningly marked and warm butterfly. I took the third picture in this photoset one of a few I was pleased with of this. It was a great scene of late in year nectar extraction as a bee turned up on the water mint too which I tweeted a picture of Dans_Pictures tonight. I loved this moment and felt it was maybe that unexpected moment I get when doing this annual trips that is a bit different to what I usually see on them. Passing a Carrion Crow on top of a tree a little bit far off but doable with my big lens on I waited until the sun hit it walking past to make it quite silhouette like in the golden light and I got a unique picture for me of this species a black bird against bright light looked good I tweeted this photo too. I then saw a Little Egret in a tree I had seen them at Richmond Park but I am not so sure about here before and it was interesting to see it on the lake with a group of Egyptian Geese passing by later on a memorable sight from the day.
We then walked into a group of trees seeing Mute Swans flying over which I’d not seen here before and saw a group of Fallow Deers the other deer species to look for as well as red today and it was exceptional to spend a few minutes admiring these seeing a gorgeous blend of the typical brown furred ones but also some lighter and white which is well known for the species too. Rutting wise a couple just started to lock antlers as though testing them and the stags seemed to move others around a bit too it was a tense atmosphere really. These were again such intimate views of a group of deers and one of my favourite mammals with lots still and some bits of movement too. I took the fourth picture in this photoset of some of these and tweeted others.
The landscape looked amazing at Bushy Park at this point with the ponds and streams nestled into the ferns and grassland and charming willow trees, mighty oaks, pine and more, with a great view into the more built up surroundings with a church I always admire visible. I had enjoyed the beautiful Diana Fountain on the way in too at this park. With the sun illuminating the landscape nicely too to enrich this all. And I knelt to take a shot of some more pretty pink lily pads lately to the backdrop of a lake alive with light and the divine grassy habitat behind one I was pleased with which I also tweeted.
Then there were a few amazing moments. First another quirky one as much like I’ve seen at Lakeside over the past year and a bit there was a terrapin sat at the side of the lake. Out in the open and in the sun it made a nice sight and I enjoyed taking photos of it, a terrapin that was a pet I imagine dumped here. There were a Coot family with chicks coming amazingly close to us on this bit of lake too. I took the fifth picture in this photoset of one chick.
Then following on from my Richmond Black Darter experience mentioned in my last post I was amazed to see the damselfly species I had thought of earlier today as a glistening Emerald Damselfly settled on a tree leaf. I was ecstatic to see this glorious species and so overjoyed. It feels like I’ve seen these a lot more than I actually have I got so used to them in 2019 but it’s only my third ever sighting of one after my first ever at Thursley Common also in Surrey where we were today two years ago and later that summer at Arne in Dorset. But I did miss it last year so it felt amazing to see it today. And a little bit like that day in 2019 at Thursley this and the Richmond Black Darter took me by storm to make my dragonfly and damselfly year list my second highest ever having seen 18 species this year now second only to my 2019 total that day at Thursley I stormed to level my then record of 2018. I am so over the moon with this. This was not something I had in my mind going into the day so felt fantastic and I am so pleased with this. Two big points in my year, the Rutland Water trip in August and today allowed me to see dragonfly and damselfly species I missed last year to compete with my 2019. I saw the value in these two Royal Parks as dragonfly and damselfly sites today which is useful to remember.
We walked on and got a quintessential Royal Parks and amazing sight of a female Red Deer wading in a channel of water beside us which I got the sixth picture in this photoset of. It was brilliant to watch it and be in aw of this species that the day is mostly about, and special to hear it munch on the grass the other side of the channel as well. It was a smashing and key moment of the day perhaps our best view of a Red Deer from the day. Seeing Mute Swans further up the channel with a grey young one adorably shuffle out of it via a lovely ramp was a good moment. Going back towards the main lake bit by the car park and we were happy to see a Black Swan on there we had not seen one here before. Beside more water mint gleaming in the sunlight as hawksbeard/catsear did walking around this lake too was some lovely orange spotted touch-me-not a new flower for me today which was great to see.
Dragonflies rather stole the day as we marveled at as we had done all day really Migrant Hawkers flying around at the edge of the lake and we got our most prolonged and closest views of any all day especially landed as two were landing on some reed type plants. It was exceptional to see their myriad of bright colour. Seeing another Coot family later on and hearing the adult make a sharp warning noise to the youngsters made me realise it had been a top day for hearing natural sounds too which can be so invigorating. Ring-necked Parakeet’s wails and Red Deer’s roars the sound track of wild London for me and this annual trip each year added to this as it always does and walking on we got an amazing view of a Ring-necked Parakeet sat firmly on a tree which I took the ninth picture in this photoset of. We treasured some splendid views of it and witnessed it caressed by the re-emerging though an interesting sky formation sunlight which was great.
Finally as we got back to the car park and I enjoyed and photographed some mini white lesser sticthwort nice to see it again after learning it last month at Farley Mount there which I noticed when we arrived a couple of Red Deers made their way towards the water with pace as they so often do here. The first of which we were so lucky to get some photo opportunities and get some smashing views of and I was so delighted to see this magnificent mammal in all its glory again. I took the tenth and final picture in this photoset of this mammal. We then heard the iconic roars before going. A perfect end to a truly epic wild day out, one of my best this year. I really did see so much iconic and amazing wildlife so well and take in some fantastic views. Taking in so many photos with all of my DSLR lenses busy and also relaxing and purely enjoying a day out. With my Mum’s car issues mentioned on Monday and the hire car going back tomorrow and no fix of our car until mid next week this may be the last big day trip in the week off and what a way to mark it. What a day well spent I feel so positively tired now.
