I wanna bring to the Death Note and Lawlight community a take that I have and rarely ever hear about.
A lot of people seem to look at or even just remember L as an unfeeling apathetic weirdo- and this is coming from people who haven't seen the anime in years or just see a couple scenes of him. And that's a fair enough assessment to make- dude is detached in his own way.
But it's really ironic when he's put next to Light Yagami, a character who I believe literally doesn't know how to love.
Not in the aro/ace way- dude doesn't even know how to love anyone platonically. He doesn't love his family, he doesn't love his friends or his romantic partners, he doesn't love anyone. If he shows any small signs of it, I am not inclined to believe it.
When his father died and he cried, it looked like the most half-assed performance to me. As if he used it to framework and test how he would act for L's death. (Edit: Apparently Soichiro's death was after L's i think? I remembered that incorrectly. But at the same time, I think he copy-pasted his fake reaction to L's death and reused it for his dad. Point is, I don't believe he even grieves sincerely.)
And I don't think the Death Note itself exclusively did this to him. Sure, it influenced him a LOT. When you find yourself in a place of power, your brain chemistry LITERALLY changes. Of course the ability to kill with almost no consequence would influence him.
But even in the Yostuba amnesia arc, even when he's doe-eyed and defending the innocent and fighting with L about the people who died for the Kira case, I am not convinced that it's the truth. I am not convinced that he isn't just saying what he was taught to say and believe by his father. I am not convinced he fully believes his own words, even subconsciously. At least in the context of the anime and manga, he is the most insincere character I have ever seen. It's nothing but bullshit coming out of his mouth.
I'd argue the Death Note only gave him a feeling of authority that caused the mask to slip off. I'd argue that he was always this lost and was just waiting for an excuse to cut to the chase on 'justice'. To build his guillotine and finally start collecting the heads he wants to put on his mantle. He is the unfeeling, apathetic and cold freak that I've seen people assume L is. All the Death Note did was foster it.
Because while L tries to be a character for the necessary evil and gray area (i.e. Lind L. Tailor), Light is just evil. He is blindly writing names and filling pages the moment he realizes that the notebook works. He is placing a bomb in his house without thinking of the risks he'd place on his kid sister or his well-meaning parents. He is manipulating women and using them like tools. I simply cannot imagine a reality in canon where Light Yagami can love.
And obviously my point isn't to say "Lawlight wouldn't work in canon !! You can't ship them !!" The canon of a story isn't some kind of divine set of rules, literally have all the fun you want. Canon isn't real. This story isn't real. Literally make it all up and turn Light Yagami into a pining, simping mess. If anything, that's justice.
But it's interesting to think about. I used to ship Lawlight so intensely. But then years later, when I rewatched the anime, my feelings changed drastically.
Now I can't fucking stand Light Yagami, and I wish the same fate he places on all his victims. As ironic as that is.
If he was a real human being, and I had the notebook in my hands, his name would be one of the first that I would write. Call that a sign of my bias.
Now I can't imagine a single scenario where Light loves L.
I mean, I think L definitely would have feelings for Light. L has shown that he has the capability to care, despite how the writers tact on things like in the How to Read manga where his line about Light being his first ever friend could've been a 'coldly thought-out strategy.' (Eye roll)
Even in the scenario that L doesn't truly consider Light a friend, he shows that he cares for people even a little bit. When a member of the task force decides to quit and leave, L says he appreciates him and makes sure he and his family are well paid and protected. When he witnesses a member die, he's shaking in fear. He is capable of being vulnerable and caring for others. He just doesn't do it often. It's half a choice to protect himself, and half his unmasked autism. (And bro IS autistic i don't gotta defend that point)
L is capable of loving Light if L allowed himself to. If that "you're my first friend" line is sincere, he's opened his heart up to a monster. And the unfortunate thing is that there is no possible way Light is reciprocating. Light is the unfeeling, lying monster, uncapable of even concieving what love feels like. Light doesn't care for other people. His motives might be driven by a sense of justice, but that is just the flavor. That's just the color that his true intentions are thinly painted over. The true intention of power. The only thing that brings him joy is the authority he believes he has over humanity.

I've been seeing a lot of Trigun posts around and ngl it's got me interested in the show! What's your recommendation for what to start with first? Like reading the manga first or starting with Stampede?
I actually really recommend MY experience, which was Trigun 1998 -> Trigun Stampede -> Trigun & Trigun Maximum manga
I'll explain why under the cut :) But tl;dr the order is
Very Little Lore Explained -> Some Lore Explained -> All Lore Explained And Woven Beautifully Into The Themes
Trigun 1998
the Trigun 1998 anime was made before the manga was finished, so some major plot points towards the end are very different because they were at least partially improvised. There is also very very little worldbuilding lore revealed in the 1998 anime-- but when they did touch on it, it really piqued my interest!
I'd imagine the 1998 anime might be a bit disappointing to watch after Stampede or the manga, when you're aware of all the cool characters and worldbuilding you're missing out on. Going into 1998 blind, I just felt vaguely confused yet emotionally compelled & willing to accept it because YeeHaw Space Cowboy, yknow?
Stampede
Trigun Stampede was made after the completion of the manga, and was clearly more than excited to dig into the worldbuilding and villain buildup that the original anime missed out on. But as I've said it ends up so tightly paced that it's missing the weight 1998's slower pacing could lend to the Average Human Lives around Vash.
It will offer you much more worldbuilding and some very strong character introductions, which I think are good lead-ups for meeting the characters in their Fullest Forms in the manga.
The Manga
Now, the animes are gonna leave you with a lot of questions. About character motivations and Plants, mostly. You'll feel the themes were well-delivered, but have the distinct feeling that they could be stronger. They're also going to leave you wanting more time to spend with these charming, lovable characters.
I am delighted to say that the manga delivers everything you could possibly be left wanting for after the animes BEAUTIFULLY, AND THEN SOME!!!!!!! I've been devouring it at a record pace and it has yet to disappoint. The themes and their spectacular deliveries are changing my brain chemistry. I'm absorbing it into my soul.
Please Please Please even if you dont like either anime, read the manga anyway. Especially if you don't like either anime because you feel they don't deliver on their philosophical musings adequately. Because the manga DOES deliver. So much. Please I'm begging. It's so good it's so fucking good

give me your favorite manga or anime of all time. NOW. like, the ones who changed you as a person. if you are okay with questions like that!
HELLO HI I RISE FROM THE GRAVE FOR THIS INCREDIBLE YAPPING OPPORTUNITY
fr tho thank you Lottie for asking me too despite my death apparent, this will be long, I'll put the honorable mentions first as to make it a little more interesting and KHR will be at the bottom for the same reason-
Honorable mentions!
Sailor Moon - love myself some female friendship and magical girls. And women who could kick my ass like Pluto.
Black Rock Shooter - as above, plus vague setting and cool transformations.
Fate series - ok hear me out. I haven't watched the anime and just started the VN, I mostly play the mobile game, but it's about history and there's cute girls in it. Peak.
The Vision of Escaflowne - COOL MECHAS (hasn't finished it)
Yuru Camp - CUTE GIRLS FRIENDHIP AND COZYNESS also relaxing music (hasn't finished it)
Serial Experiments Lain - what the fuck was that
Violet Evergarden - tears? tears in my eyes? stop???
Dungeon Food - I'd have put this above if I wasn't just at the second volume of it, holy shit this is so fun but I feel it will crush my soul soon
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Ah. Lord, NGE. The vagueness of its worldbuilding, the psychological aspects, the occult and religious simbology, and the GODDAMN MUSIC. If you like classical, epic and otherwordly music, I beg you to check out NGE's score even if you're not interested in the anime itself because Shiro Sagisu is a gift from the gods and one of the best composers of our time. The series is a masterpiece. People despise the movies but IMO they do exactly what a movie should do: entertain. Anno embraced the "I'll be cringe, but I'll be free" and went all out on them, as he should have. Also, there's Kaworu Nagisa. Look at him!
Tumblr media
Steins;Gate
PLEASE. PLEASE DO AND DON'T DO THIS TO YOURSELF AT THE SAME TIME. I WAS NOT READY. This anime will take your heart, embrace it, warm it up, GRIP IT IN ITS HANDS, CHEW IT AND SPIT IT OUT. Admittedly I played the VN because I wanted to experience all endings and OH MY GOD. It's terrifying and emotionally damaging. I started playing the sequel (Steins;Gate 0) and I had to STOP because it's so gut-wrenching in all the good ways that I need to be in the right spot for it.
Bleach
talk about recent experiences. I live under a rock when it comes to popular anime most times, and I never had the occasion to watch Bleach until recently (still haven't technically finished it because I'm waiting for TYBW to finish releasing to watch it). I... don't know what it is about Bleach that I like so much, but it got me in a similar way to KHR, as in I think about it often against my will and I'm even considering creating an OC for it. I think it's the characters, because the story is pretty straightforward... yeah, yeah it's the fictional men again. Kubo makes handsome men who fight with swords and transformation and everyone has their own powerups and...hhhngh. Look at this batch of cookies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah no, wait, there's Shiro Sagisu again as composer. Almost forgot. *dances aggessively to spanish guitars*
Dr. Stone
I'm not a science brain, totally the opposite. Math doesn't math, geometry is evil and chemistry is wizardry. BUT, I love things that TRY to teach me those things in a funny and accessible way. I still won't understand them, but it was fun trying! And Dr. Stone has that, it's the moment I realize I like it when things are explained to me in that way, especially through media. Plus, fun characters, emotional moments, and cool plot.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Fortunately or unfortunately depending on your opinion on the show, KHR was the first ever japanese piece of media (excluding videogames) I've ever consumed. Being a lonely and socially awkward human being, it soon became my personality. It was these fuckers who made me get into manga altogether, I started buying the volumes (but only up to Varia Arc because 1. I didn't have an allowance, everything was done with Christmas/Easter/birthday money and 2. I was so obsessed with the Varia that my goldfish brain lost interest mid Future Arc.) and from there I discovered the pleasure of physical copies. The show has never aired in Italy, so nobody knew what the fuck I was talking about. It was, as many others were for me, a very lonely experience. But it was also the first time I felt... unique? Like, "this is my special little treasure and nobody can take it from me" kinda thing. I was emotionally invested in this show and every small piece of merch I could find like my Varia character songs CD became some of my most prized possessions (UNTIL I STARTED GIFTING AWAY MY SET OF VONGOLA RINGS BECAUSE I WANTED TO BRIBE PEOPLE INTO LIKING THE SHOW) (YEAH THAT WAS. STUPID. BECAUSE IT OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WORK. AND ONLY MADE ME FEEL MORE LONELY AND RINGLESS) Then, the falling off. I started playing an MMO that also shaped part of my personality and as you often do with things that remind you of lonelier times, I sold my volumes and stopped thinking of KHR... until recently, when I joined this fandom and the spark came back because fuck it I'll be cringe but I'll be free. I got my fair share of flack for hyperfixating on an old anime at 24 years old, but it's one of the best experiences I've ever had. So yeah. KHR was ultimately good for me.

give me your favorite manga or anime of all time. NOW. like, the ones who changed you as a person. if you are okay with questions like that!
Charlotte!!!! More anime/manga asks yipeeee I'll give you the three I can think of rn! For this one, Gintama is definitely my all-time fave but the others are in no specific order at all
Gintama - This one started off as a comedy at first and it really took its time endearing me to all these quirky and funny characters, while also showing glimpses of the layers beneath them. Then comes the "serious" arcs, that's when I start screaming and crying when I get to know more beneath those layers. The comedy is definitely still the highlight in this series for me, whenever I feel down I would pick a random Gintama episode and just watch it. Tbh, even if it has 300+ episodes, I can confidently say that I probably already rewatched it at least three times by now. But another highlight for me here is the mangaka's godtier ability to shift the tone between say comedy and serious/heartwarming moments, the transitions feel really smooth and it doesn't feel forced or out of place. I mentioned this in Jojo's ask, but this series really helped/supported me through my most depressed teenage years and it's probably not an overstatement to say that its one of the reasons I'm still alive rn. One of the quotes there that I can still vividly remember is "It's always darkest right before dawn". On the more goofy side, even to this day, I still have that one monkey's long ass name memorized lmao (the tagalog version specifically) Even if I change interests and fandoms, it will always be #1. The writing style, the characters and the comedy in Gintama are all such a huge inspiration, as well as a standard, for me. If you're familiar with Gintama, you can see lots of pieces of it in the way I want to portray and execute my own stories.
Pandora Hearts - THIS ONE CERTAINLY CHANGED MY BRAIN CHEMISTRY AS WELL. ITS ALSO VERY MUCH A MASTERPIECE. But my brain treats it the opposite of Gintama, in the way that after I finished reading the manga - I never reread it again. That's just how much the story destroyed me so thoroughly. I'm so afraid to re-experience it lmaooo I cried a lot of times for the characters there and the plot twists are nothing short of insane. I really love how complex the characters, their relationships with e/o and their lore are in this story. This series really fuels the angst + extremely complicated story lover in me. It's also a huge inspiration for my stories 🤭🤭🤭 If you're not familiar with this one, I recommend searching this one anime ost it has called "Lacie" (to avoid spoilers, don't go for the sideshow ones dkdhdj). I'm so attached to that ost, it has been a source of both comfort and sadness in one package. One of these days, I'll get enough courage for a reread...
IDOLiSH7 - I discovered this idol series when I was in college! (specifically experienced it first in the mobile game form) I thought its gonna be the usual happy lighthearted idol story that I'll move on from after a few weeks BUT NO! BRAIN CHEMISTRY CHANGED!! I didn't expect them to go so much deeper than that and I didn't expect to love & be attached to all the main characters, it's insane. Some of the characters' problems like Mitsuki's even hits so close to home, it really made me go *pause and starts walking around the house*. And thats just part 1 of the story, and then it's gets even worse (in the best way possible) in further parts. It doesn't help that the anime for it was done with a lot of love and care in it, elevating and improving the source material even further (adding/emphasizing symbolisms, more foreshadowing, etc). I just know that the main people involved in the creation/production of its anime were also as much of a fan as I am 🥺💖✨ (THE SONGS ARE BANGERS TOO!!!)
That's all for now, let me know if you want me to list more hehehe I rambled a lot for each of these three, but tbh, I still don't think it's enough to express hm these series meant to me dkdbmssbsn

favourite things: 2023 edition
last year i made one of these and i thought it'd be fun to make another one. i have a notion spreadsheet with all the media i watch/read/play throughout the year (not just things that came out this year!) and i give them ratings. these are the highs (and some of the lows) of 2023 (not in order).
Games
Tunic - such a great and beautiful game that i do not want to spoil. seriously, play it. if you like zelda, exploration, solving puzzles, and cute little foxes, then it's a must
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - what can i say, i love a zelda
Portal 2 - just an even more excellent sequel to an excellent game
TV
Alice in Borderland - i didn't know what to expect at first but it was excellent and highly addictive
Not Me - my introduction to thai BL (for better and also definitely for worse lol). anyway this show changed my brain chemistry. it has everything: gays, a twin switch situation, leftism, arson, rooftop kiss... you know
Bad Buddy - speaking of rooftop kisses...... if you know you know. anyway this is also a thai BL and it's still rotating in my brain. i rewatched it almost immediately, that's how good it was
The King's Affection - cheesy historical kdrama about a crown prince who is secretly a woman, with a swoon-worthy romance and political intrigue. this one's for the bisexuals (after all, the male love interest falls in love with the prince before he finds out it's a woman)
Vinland Saga - this anime fucking wrecked me. season 2 had me crying every single episode. thorfinn is my new child and i WILL name my future cat after him
The Devil Judge - a kdrama about a dystopian south korea with a fucked up justice system. anyway kang yohan character of all time. oh and also toxic homosexuality (affectionate)
Books
The Poppy War trilogy by R. F. Kuang - what an excellent series to get me back into fantasy series. it was not without faults, but i was hooked anyway
Babel by R. F. Kuang - i read this brick in 5 days straight. it's beautifully written and has such interesting things to say about language and colonialism. again, it has flaws but i wasn't bothered, i was obsessed with this book
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon - i didn't realise how much i missed high fantasy until i read this. it has lesbians, dragons, a bitter old homosexual, magic, and did i mention dragons and lesbians?
He Who Drowned the World by Shelley Parker Chan - the sequel to She Who Became the Sun, my favourite book of last year. this sequel fucking DELIVERED. i went insane about it multiple times. it's a must read
Graphic novels/manga
Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama - i started this manga 2 years ago, but since it's still ongoing and I've read new chapters this year, it counts for this year as well
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run by Hirohiko Araki - not finished with it yet but it is truly as good as everyone says it is
The Adventure Zone: The Eleventh Hour by the McElroys and Carey Pietsch - i know not everyone likes the taz comics, but i do, i think theyre great adaptations, and this one looked incredible
Movies
Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse - not as good as the first one, but still really good. beautifully animated and extremely entertaining
Bonus: the lowest of the low, titles that earned my 'sucked shit' rating
Theory of Love - amazing that out of the 3 thai BLs ive watched, 2 managed to make it on my favourites list, and one of them was some of the worst television i've ever seen
Where the Crawdads Sing - read the book for book club last year, we all hated it, and now we decided to watch the movie for a laugh. it also sucked

One Piece Live Action Episode 5 EAT AT BARATIE!
Tumblr media
It's hard being a One Piece fan. We celebrating the success of the series, then given the best episode in the anime and then the manga has just been serving.
Episode 5 has been my favorite episode in the season so far. But that may change soon cause I said I liked Episode 4 after I watched it.
I felt a little for Little Luffy in the flashback. Maybe because Garp was an actual human being and Little Luffy wasn't doing his cute little whine when his Grandpa was scolding him that I was actually sad for Luffy not having someone to support his dream of piracy.
Tumblr media
But Garp was still Garp and I know he cares about his grandson. I still cry during the flashback when Luffy was climbing up the platform to Ace. Garp was carrying Luffy home and Garp was apologizing for being such a cruel grandpa and that maybe he wanted a different grandpa. But Luffy just nuzzled his head into his grandpa's back and called out to him in his cute little tone and Garp said they'd have a feast back home because he took a lot from the marine ship.
Tumblr media
Damn. They're about to give Garp the Fist of Love and Galaxy Impact
Tumblr media
I could almost hear him say "As expected of my grandson"
Tumblr media
Luffy willing to stand up to his grandpa for his dream. Even if it meant that he may be arrested.
Tumblr media
I swear without Nami they'd be broke and lost at sea.
Tumblr media
The dynamic between Nami and Zoro, being the first two people Luffy ever recruited was so brother-sister looking after their younger brother coded.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The set designer for this show deserves all the awards. Like seriously wherever they docked the real thing I want to see it.
Tumblr media
My favorite All Blue dreamer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wished they kept to the scene in the manga. Like Luffy's first impression of Sanji and why he asked him to be part of his crew was not because he was a good fighter nor because he liked his food, Luffy hasn't eaten anything Sanji made yet, but he asked Sanji to be part of his crew was because Sanji fed Gin when everyone else tried to kick him out of the restaurant. He saw Sanji's kindness and wanted him to be part of his crew.
Tumblr media
This is why there is a lock in the fridge in Sunny and giant mousetraps
Tumblr media
I believe in the theory that there's no one in Laugh Tale or they could be vegans. Cause Luffy would have found One Piece already if someone was cooking there.
Tumblr media
After seeing Arlong, Nami's happiness became very important to me
Tumblr media
He promised to pay with a treasure tab. He made the same promise to Makino. I really hope he returns to Foosha Village and pays that tab cause Makino's a mom now.
Tumblr media
Luffy and Sanji conversing about their dream with bright looks on their faces is very important to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that this is what they're bonding over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't tell if this is Sanji's signature fried rice
Tumblr media
I liked Buggy's intro. BUT Mihawk's intro, destroying Don Krieg's fleet, became my absolute fave bounty intro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know he and Shanks fought a lot over the years so he easily recognized the hat. And I know he knows about Luffy. Not by name. But because Shanks lost his arm to a boy in East Blue and he probably made the connection. So him mentioning the hat really got me excited.
Tumblr media
I love Zoro and Mihwak's duel. They perfectly recreated the battle and really did justice to the moment that defined Zoro's entire brain chemistry as a pirate, Strawhat first mate and Luffy's best friend.
Tumblr media
Den Den Mushi Appreciation
Love they're incorporating more designs to the Den Den Mushi. In the anime Garp had a megaphone so this was so in the world tone

✿ This looks like fun! ✿
[Fandom game post here]
A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.
Seiji Katayama x Nicholas Cox (Fence)
Draco Malfoy x Harry Potter (HP)
If you want to read my Fence related answers, jump to letters: M N O R S T V or Z
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
Nastu Dragoneel x Gray Fullblaster (Fairytail) - I’m mainly a gruvia shipper BUT I came across this brilliantly written gratsu fic a few years back and it rewrote my brain chemistry entirely.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.
I don’t like saying mean things.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Shinsou Hitoshi x Kaminari Denki (MHA) - Monoshin has my heart <3
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?
I wrote about an established relationship where character A wanted to give character B a gift. A asks B’s bff what to give him. Bff tells A to give B a rock. A proceeds to spend the day meticulously picking out a rock to give to B. A later presents this perfectly picked out rock to B, and B loves this little gift. This story oddly resonated with a lot of people in my old fandom lol. Moral of the story? People love rocks. Give your friends rocks. They will love you.
F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?
About a decade? I started watching Pokémon for as long as I can remember (still love it!), but I fell out of the fandom when my parents stopped paying for cable.
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
Zutara. Zuko and Katara were everything to me. Fire and water? Their antagonistic relationship? There was so much tension there. It just made sense to me.
H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., TV shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)?
The first half of my life was dedicated to TV shows (when I had cable). The rest of my life is dedicated to printed material (books, manga, comics, etc).
I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?
No. I only joined this platform about two months ago. I haven’t come across any negativity on this side of tumblr.
J - Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)
Little Goody Two Shoes (indie game)
Temeraire (book? I think?)
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
Juvia Lockster or Flare Corona (both Fairytail)
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)
Can’t think of a character I actively loathe or dislike at the top of my head.
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
Sungchul Park (Fence) - He seems cocky and I like that.
Luna Lovegood (HP) - She’s just got the VibesTM you know?
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
Nicholas coming over to visit the Katayamas for winter (or summer!) break.
I want to get severe secondhand embarrassment from something that Nicholas does in front of Seiji. I want to fluster that boy so bad. I want him to feel so embarrassed he could melt into a puddle of liquified Cox. And after all of the chaos I want Seiji to find that Nicholas actually looks rather cute when he’s blushing and flustered :) I’m evil.
‼️ MORE ‼️ BLUSHING ‼️ NICHOLAS‼️
I also want to explore more of Nicholas’ (fandom assumed) fear of the dark.
Would love to see more of Nicholas being vulnerable around Seiji.
I want to see more of the Leventis/Levantis twins (I’m writing something myself, but still. Would love to see others interpretation of the boys)!
Nsfw-wise… I’d like to see more bottom or submissive Nicholas. I think fandom has mostly pegged him for a dominant top lol.
O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
Kiss Me - Sixpence None the Richer is how I envision Robert Coste and Nicholas’ mother’s relationship to be like in one of my unfinished pieces. An au where Nicholas doesn’t know who his father is and has a loving relationship with his mom.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
Needing to make dinner but the jar of sauce won’t open so character A visits their neighbor character B and asks for help in opening the jar.
Character A is staring at character B while walking down the sidewalk and accidentally walks into a light pole. A scurries away in embarrassment while B finds that kinda cute.
Accidentally blurting out a romantic confession whilst in the middle of an argument.
Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’ve abandoned any fandoms, just outgrew them (show finished), left due to circumstances (no more cable or show on hiatus), or lack of inspiration to continue writing. It feels wrong to say “abandoned” because I still love these fandoms and would still go back to consume their content. I’m just not actively involved anymore.
Kuroko no Basuke. Miraculous Ladybug. Fairytail.
R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?
The Leventis/Levantis twins (in my own personal interpretation of them). I have a sibling so I’ve mostly based their interactions on my own. The kind of relationship where you annoy each other but love each other fiercely.
S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)
I think that Seiji would own a dog.
Also!! Headcanon that Seiji runs warm and Nicholas has wonky blood circulation which leads to wearing tank tops and shorts in the winter but hoodies and sweatpants in the summer.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?
Seiji is a dog person.
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Reese from Scarlet Hollow - I yearn for starving artists. And he likes horror movies? Score! He’s also a little shy but also very cute. 10/10 would romance again.
Sebastian from Stardew Valley - Quiet loner that enjoys tabletop games similar to D&D? And he rides a motorcycle? Brb swooning at his feet.
I can’t pick a favorite from Fence ;v; I love Nicholas but I also love Scott and Thomas and Sungchul and Nate aaaaaaaaa
V - Which character do you relate to most?
In Fence? Nate Spencer. I was originally going to say Nicholas but after further evaluation I realize that I am in fact Nate. The kind of person that brightens up the room but also tends to gravitate to one person in particular despite getting constantly ignored (Aiden sksks).
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
No happy ending. Hurt no comfort. Break-up fics.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
Enemies to lovers. Rivals to lovers. Sickfics. Inexperience (first kiss, first times). Not actually unrequited love. Secondhand embarrassment. Sex pollen/lust potion. Truth serum. Party games (i.e. truth or dare). Time travel.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (i.e., fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)?
Call of Duty.
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
I’m surprised by the lack of rarepairs in Fence. There’s so much potential with the amount of characters that have been introduced so far, but I guess I can see why. Nichoji are just so throughly entwined with each other it’s almost impossible to envision them with anybody else. Other than that, I would gander that there’s more interest in the main ships than exploring newer characters and even newer relationships. (I aim to change that though, a new rarepair is on the horizon!! Hopefully by Valentine’s day 👀💘)
I’m also rather surprised by how active this fandom is despite the small size of it. It’s nice and cozy here though and I like that.
This fandom is actually making me want to try drawing again. Just speaking out to the void here lol. I was pretty decent at drawing chibis when I was younger. Blushing Nicholas here I come… ✍️♥️✨

Thanks for answering my ask....If you don't mind me asking (again), can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....
I am once again answering asks months later than I should have because time isn’t real and I never open my phone BUT I will never give up an excuse to talk about the stuff I like so let’s go
(This is in no particular order because besides the first two I can’t pick a favourite child)
1) interview with the vampire (tv)
God. This thing has taken over my brain chemistry. I first watched it as the first season aired a few years back and loved it then and now that the second season has aired I literally cannot stop thinking about it. I have watched every episode of this series at least four times, some more than others because I genuinely can’t get enough. It’s simply so perfect to me… the camp… the vampires… everyone should watch this at least once in their lives (I am also currently working my way through the books and they are so tasty)
2) nbc Hannibal
GUH. I strangely never talk about it but Hannibal was one of the first shows to rewire my brain like iwtv has. I first watched it back in high school I think after a girl I had a crush on lended it to me on a usb stick and I think it’s so perfect. I find it really beautiful in a real vile way (pos) and can watch it over and over without tiring (in fact I could probably recite many of the episodes off by heart which I wouldn’t consider a problem but Some People might). The relationship between Hannibal and Will is so palpable and harrowing and I genuinely once wrote an essay on it for uni (I got an eighty) because I’m Normal
3) life is strange 2
a bit of a random one, but ever since I played the first episode of lis2, I’ve been obsessed with it. say what you want about the lis games, but there’s something really lovely to me about Sean and Daniel. maybe it’s because it reminds me of my little brother, maybe it’s because the experience of being a Latin person in North America is so familiar, but it’s a really beautiful game and I’ve replayed it… seven times now? I think? I keep trying to get different endings but I’m weird about making people do bad stuff in video games surprisingly
4) red dead redemption 2
Look man. I like cowboys, I like the great outdoors, I like the idea that Arthur Morgan (gunslinging criminal) is actually a pretty princess. Maybe I’m projecting but he really is a beautiful woman to me. this is another game I’ve played way too many times even though playing the epilogue bit where you have to build the fence makes me want to die. also Javier and John should kiss and I want sadie Adler to be my wife
5) sarazanmai
Maybe a bit of an oddball but this is one of those anime that’s like looking at a car wreck. You simply cannot look away. What began as a strange, mythological mindfuck of a show slowly morphed into a beautiful story about queerness and friendship and love and I recommend it to everyone because I just think it’s so good
6) wildhood
This movie fundamentally changed me. It’s a Canadian queer indigenous coming of age film that I watched on a whim when I was scrolling through a streaming service on a lazy weeknight a few years ago, and I didn’t expect it to be something so beautiful and touching. It’s about a young guy named link who finds out his mother (who left him with his abusive father) is alive, and so he crosses the province trying to find her with his younger half brother and someone who’d saved him from some racist convenience store owner. It’s a visually really pretty movie, and on top of that the story is absolutely beautiful and makes me cry every time I watch it. I think I’ve forced every single one of my friends to watch this movie all the while I stared at them like this 👁️👁️ to gauge their reaction to it. please please please watch this
7) to be taught if fortunate by becky chambers
this book!!!!!! THIS BOOK!!!! I had to read this for first year English my first year of university and normally books I’m forced to read are never ones that have a hold on me but I genuinely could not put this book down. I’m also not really one for science fiction, but despite the overall premise (a bunch of researchers get cryo slept in space only to awake and find that a disaster has happened on earth, wiping out a majority of the population) I feel like it focuses less on the science fiction and more so on the relationships between all of the astronauts, most of whom are queer and in a weird pseudo poly relationship with each other. idk I just thought this book was really beautiful and fun and I think everyone should read it
8) jojo’s bizarre adventure
look. this thing had to make it on here okay. I put off getting into jojo for a long time even though I’d been thoroughly aware of it even back in middle school, and when I finally caved I watched all of it in about two months, shaking and gnawing at the bars of my enclosure the whole time. it’s just so silly and fun and I think kishibe rohan should be real (he is)
I was going to add more but my brain somehow isn’t working so I’m going to do some honourable mentions again in no particular order: yakuza series, death note, after dark by haruki murakami, anything by Allen Ginsberg, kill your darlings, it’s always sunny in Philadelphia, fellow travellers (book and show)
Thank you so much for the ask!

Top 5 TV shows? ^_^
ty for the ask!!
this is gonna sound crazy bc i have a blog dedicated to 3 tv shows but i dont actually watch a lot of tv + actually ranking the ones i do watch is sooo hard, so instead of doing numbers, im gonna do tiers 🤞
shows that changed my brain chemistry, they’re a part of me, for better or for worse
death note has been a part of my life for soooo long. genuinely i watched it when i was 12, and i’m about to be 22 soon, so almost 10 years now. i still rewatch it frequently, i’ve probably seen it close to 15 times now…i based my whole closet and a lot of other things on mello & misa sksjsk
tokyo ghoul is of course one of my favs, also has been a part of my life for a while, maybe 6 years? i prefer the manga tbh but i still watch the anime a lot bc sometimes im too lazy to read…my comfort show fr tho i always turn to it when i’m feeling down
jujutsu kaisen is the newest addition to this category but i love it just as dearly, as you may have notice lol i wasnt sure about it at first but it quickly made itself out home in my heart and life. tmi but i was in the middle of like a year+ long mental space where i just couldn’t feel things or process emotions, and jujutsu kaisen is what brought my feelings back to me…a lot of sad feelings but feelings nonetheless
other shows i like a relatively normal amount
blind is a kdrama that i never really see that many people talking about but its soooo good and so worth watching. it follows the investigation of brutal serial killer, but it feels like so much more than that. there’s really great psychological horror aspects, as well as commentary on how society fails children, and i literally never saw the end coming. soooo good a bit gory but really worth the watch. watch it when you have a few days off tho bc it’s so hard to look away.
i was torn for what to put as the last show, but i decided to go with another kdrama sweet home. highly recommend for tokyo ghoul lovers, it’s sci fi/thriller and it’s about this disease that turns humans into mindless monsters, and the MC turns into like a half-half…won’t say too much more bc spoilers but the parallels are endless

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks..
This ask could not have come at a more perfect time, I am so deep in fictional character brainrot and this gives me such a great outlet for it :,) hope you're ready lmao
In no particular order:
Klaupacius and Trurl — The Cyberiad, Stanislaw Lem
These two are the main characters in this set of short stories. They are the greatest constructors in the universe — they can make anything and everything, to a fault. They're always at odds, but they are fundamentally inseparable; there isn't ever even a question in-universe of whether they'll come back together, because they always do. They have seen each other's greatest triumphs, and they have fixed each other's most egregious mistakes.
I have to put these two together; it just doesn't feel right to separate them into two entries. Even though there are some stories in the anthology where only one of them is acting, the other always makes a cameo by the end. I joke a lot about media altering my brain chemistry when I get obsessed with it, but this book truly did do something powerful to me. They exemplify the quintessential asexual queerplatonic relationship in my mind, and they have become everything I wanted for my own future long term relationship.
This book contains the most beautiful love poem I have ever read.
2. Selina Meyer — Veep
I'm obsessed with this show, and I quite literally rewatch it on a loop, only sometimes buffered by watching something else. I have a giant spreadsheet with every episode and every character listed where I am working on outlining exactly what I think every character's "rule" is, and where in the show they finally break that rule. Everyone breaks their rule — except for Selina Meyer.
Without spoilers: Selina Meyer is a masterclass in writing an in-universe anti-villain. Her (public) goals are, at face value, incredibly noble: she wants to dedicate her life to serving the public in political office. However, due to her deep personality flaws, she ends up being one of the most morally reprehensible characters ever written.
3. Howl Pendragon/Jenkins (movie) — Howl's Moving Castle
What can I say? He's gender. He has the life I want. I watch this movie to live vicariously through him. His growth is beautiful; it inspires me when I feel like I'm running from my responsibilities and loved ones.
I do also have a lot of love for book Howl, though he didn't make the cut for this list. He is a picture perfect blorbo. I'm glad they changed him deeply and fundamentally in the interest of making the movie that I know and love, so that I could be deeply and brutally shocked by how low book Howl will stoop to continue to be worse.
4. Kikyo — Inuyasha, Rumiko Takahashi
She was my first character love. Kikyo is uniquely tragic, and I haven't found another character who makes me feel the same way she does.
She's undead, doomed to wander a place where she doesn't belong until she is finally put down again. However, instead of laying down again willingly after being resurrected, she chooses to continue walking amongst the living, and by doing so endures unimaginable emotional and spiritual suffering, and she chooses this for two reasons. One, because she is still dedicated to defeating the evil that stole her life from her. Two, because she is still hopelessly in love with Inuyasha, and takes every available opportunity to have him again.
Kikyo is sympathetic, but deeply flawed. Despite knowing she is doomed never to live, she can't help but grasp at anything close to the life she desired for herself and Inuyasha, as equals and lovers. And despite knowing her turn at life is over, that she is no longer a factor in the ultimate fate of their world, she still believes that she is the only one with the power to defeat the evil that they are facing.
She dies after a life/undeath full of suffering, without reaping any of the rewards she wanted for herself — the only thing she gets in the end is a peaceful death in her lover's arms.
5. Nux — Mad Max: Fury Road
I'm such a sucker for someone who was raised in a cult, who comes out of it and comes to love the beauty they found in the world outside of their lifelong beliefs. I have so much I could say, but Nux is just so much better experienced than explained in my mind. I wish he could have lived forever.
6. Todd Chavez — Bojack Horseman
Every time I try to write paragraphs about him, it just doesn't come out right. He's the unsung hero of the show. He's a beautifully portrayed asexual character who finds fulfillment after setting hard boundaries. He has compassion for Bojack to a fault, but in the end is still able to set and keep meaningful boundaries. I just love him so much.
7. Jobu Tupaki — Everything, Everywhere, All At Once
I could write so many paragraphs. When I watched this movie for the first time, a hole in my heart was filled. There is not a single other piece of media I can think of that treats a godlike character like EEAAO treats Jobu. Being all-knowing and essentially omnipresent has rendered all material goals pointless, and relationships with people who aren't like her have no benefit in the end.
The movie has a great ending, showing that she and her mother must choose things that matter to them, to give them purpose. To me, though, there's still this big question mark in the background — it's entirely possible that they will end together in the same place that Jobu was in when the movie started, simply because that might be the ultimate final state of omniscient beings.
8. Frankenstein's Demon — Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
I didn't say "monster," because Shelley refers to him almost exclusively as a "demon/daemon" after Frankenstein learns how educated he is. He is first a monster, bumbling around committing murders and doing things without knowing the suffering he's enduring. But after he reads the books and encounters the family in the cottage, he's able to act with intention, and put words to his suffering, and all of a sudden in Shelley's words, he becomes a demon.
Essays have been written about what makes the Demon such a great character. I love him because in the end, seeing his creator's dead body, he tries to tell Frankenstein that he forgives him for his hubris. He is the first true android character in my heart of hearts.
9. Kusuriuri / The Medicine Seller — Mononoke
God, this show is a masterpiece. Kusuriuri represents a type of character that's pretty rare: he has no agenda, and in the end I don't think he even necessarily has fundamental beliefs. His mission is to resolve the turmoil of the dead which create the monsters he fights, on their terms, using "lessons" they can understand. He is entirely neutral but for that one goal. It's awesome to watch, and I absolutely CANNOT wait for the movie!!!
10. Dave Strider —  Homestuck
Listen. I hid it at the bottom of the post like a respectable, shameful Homestuck of old. He’s the best. He’s the worst. He’s transcoded. I love him. What do you want from me. I’ve clearly got some complex feelings about transmasculinity seeing as Howl is also on this list. Leave me alone. But also, I have paragraphs ready to defend this man against all wrongdoing; the only issue is that he has so many timelines, and I don’t want to subject any of the readers of this post to such things.
In all seriousness, his character helped me reckon with some very major changes in my life. For those who need it: sometimes it’s okay for your authority figures to become peers. It’s part of becoming an adult. There are just some things that are not properly articulated in short form fiction; the change from “parent/authority” to “peer/parent” is one of those things. Idk what else to say here.

Hi there, I looked through your Claymore tag, I'm always happy to find new fans of it. I was a bit surprised that you preferred the anime to the manga; ike you said it's a fairly unpopular opinion haha. Id love to know your reasons, if any, that you disliked the last part of the manga.
WARNING: YOU HAVE ACTIVATED THE AUTISM VACATE NOW IF YOU WISH TO LEAVE UNCHANGED "New" fan may be an understatement, I've been a fan of the show since it was on Netflix! I watched it at my dad's once, along with Samurai 7, I loved it so much my dad got me the Blu-ray for Christmas. Then when I watched it at my mom's she thought it was too violent (Which like, yeah. It was XD) and so it was packed away until I was 17 (I was released from the weird confines my mother had for me then). It irreversibly changed my brain chemistry. Probably where my love of body horror and creepy human/monster designs came from. So then later on I learned there was a MANGA! WITH MORE SHIT I WAS SO FUCKING PUMPED. I read it all online in like, a week. I loved the awakened beings designs. I loved the art, I loved the characters, I loved the world... and then. The twist. (Claymore spoilers ahead)
That the main continent Claymore takes place on is a testing ground for the organization's war against another power on another continent. Which is actually super fucking cool but. THEY NEVER BRING IT UP AGAIN??? I DON'T REMEMBER THEM ACKNOWLEDGING THIS INSANE TWIST AND COMPLETE SHATTERING OF THEIR WHOLE WORLDVIEW Maybe it's the translation I read? But wow. Something like that just isn't talked about again. And then we have the Destroyer. The actual real Destroyer, the black mass, I am confused about... It takes over beings and has a very primal mind. But also it can speak full sentences? And can combine two beings together even though it's supposed to take them over? But it also keeps Priscilla's mind in Cassandra or something? I have no idea, it got so muddled. I don't like Teresa coming back. It doesn't make any sense in the rules of the universe, we NEVER saw anything like that in the whole series! How does that work? Is Teresa just a construct of what Clare remembers of her? Or is it ACTUALLY Teresa? Plus it's so boring. Teresa is ridiculously powerful so you know she's going to win against Priscilla. BOOORRRINGGGG Like wow man. Also. Raki and Clare are not like, caretaker/child relationship? It's fucking romantic? That's super fucking gross, I hate it so much. OH AND THEN ILENA AT THE END HOW IS SHE STILL ALIVE HOW DOES SHE HAVE HER ARM BACK THERE IS NO EXPLANATION HOW DID CLARE FIND HER???? RAFEALA DIDN'T KILL HER??? Came out of fucking no where. Kind of ruined it. Also I am still salty Clarice died :(

i just finished all of my uni exams for my final year! im so excited to get back to writing and reading all the books in my tbr omg! ive heard so many good things about a good girls guide to murder, ive got to read it asap. would you recommend the inheritance games. the series has been giving me the side eye and im really tempted to buy it. i loved winx the fate saga season 2 especially, like i enjoyed season 1 but season 2 was even better. the hard work they put in really payed off. the acting also improved a lot in season 2 and i loved how they portrayed flora. it was one of my favourite shows on netflix along with warrior nun (if you liked winx the fate saga and the bastard son and the devil himself you might like warrior nun, which is a sapphic show that also got cancelled by netflix, but its got two seasons at least). Netflix always cancels my favourite shows oh my god, but the shitstorm that is riverdale is allowed to get seven seasons? anyways, i was also wondering if you liked anime/manga? if you liked the bastard son and the devil himself and winx the fate saga i highly recommend jujutsu kaisen, i think they kind of have some similar vibes.
Oh, amazing! Congratulations! If you graduate in the summer, let me know, we’ll be graduating together haha. It’s genuinely so fun to finish uni and get back into writing and reading, I only finished two weeks ago and I’ve loved it so far, though I still feel a bit on edge and burnt out.
But yesss, if you’re into young adult mystery with hints of good romance!! Then A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and The Inheritance Games is brilliant! The books changed my brain chemistry, I think about them all the time and I loved them — so highly recommended. If you read them (or if anyone does, then feel free to rant about it in my inbox).
I’m genuinely tired of Netflix cancelling shows but keep renewing Riverdale! Fate was amazing, I loved season 2, and Flora was brilliant, I genuinely loved all the characters (I liked Bloom a little less, but that’s just a me thing).
Thank you for the recs! I’ll check some of them out, and I’ve looked into anime or manga so maybe that’s something new to explore.

1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 19, 20, 22, 23, 25 for end of the year ask? (https://www.tumblr.com/lee-and-other-things/703710398467244032/end-of-the-year-asks)
This is gonna be a long post, so answers are under the cut! Thanks for the ask :)
1. Song of the year?
No End Summer by Toshiki Kadomatsu. It's become one of my all-time favourites.
4. Movie of the year?
My Own Private Idaho (1991). Just a really solid film, but I'm also thankful to it for introducing me to the song by the B-52's, which is a bop.
jk. it's Goncharov (1973)
5. TV show of the year?
I literally can't live without Mob Psycho 100. I re-watched it again before s3 and it's just. So amazing.
HOWEVER, I have to hand this one to Our Flag Means Death, because it came out this year and I also love that show so so much.
6. Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you?
Okay we are going to do a top 3 because you need to know which tv shows are changing my brain chemistry .
No. 3
What We Do in the Shadows S04 E04 · The Night Market
any wwdits ep that has guillermo in a trench coat can, and does, kill me. and then with the swords? i literally died
No. 2
Hannibal S01 E01 · Aperitif
i began re-watching hannibal for like the millionth time and i think that if i watch this episode again i will become fully rabid
And lastly... No. 1
Link Click S01 E01 · Emma
made the mistake of having a cold one before watching so i was a bit tipsy and more susceptible to like, everything that happened. i was sitting down while watching this episode but i still needed to go and sit down again. idk how i am going to survive the rest of this show
8. Game of the year?
Sonic Adventure DX, surprisingly. I played a demo version of it when I was younger, and this year I remembered really enjoying it, so I got the full game on steam and started playing sonic again! I'm not much of a gamer but if there's a game that I really like or really want to play then I'm likely to make an exception for it.
Playing the game again was fun, I actually really liked the graphics, and the music was on another level. Emerald coast will always be nostalgic for me, I think.
Tumblr media
(A prediction for next year: I was lucky enough to buy Disco Elysium during the sale period, and I can't wait to start playing it asap)
10. Something that made you cry this year?
mathematics.
(′д` )…彡…彡
11. Something you want to do again next year?
Started clubbing this year. I think I'd like to go a few times next year as well. The dancing is really fun !
12. Talk about a new friend you made this year
Skipping this one for personal privacy reasons, hope you don't mind :)
14. Favorite book you read this year?
For physical manga - Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Deluxe Edition 1. I loved how relaxing a read it was.
Tumblr media
For digital manga - The Summer Hikaru Died by Mokumoku Ren. When people say that Japanese manga is loud they are talking about THIS story specifically
Tumblr media
For webcomics - Thank You For Viewing by bubblu . Lovely art, lovely story, lovely characters. Can't wait for the next update.
Tumblr media
For physical books (non-fiction) - The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. A uniquely challenging and introspective read disguised as an easy-to-read non-fiction book.
Tumblr media
For physical books (fiction) - An Absolutely Remarkable Thing and A Beautifully Foolish Endeavour by Hank Green. I read one after the other, and I can't pick a favourite. Both of them were everything I want from a sci-fi story, though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For webnovels - It's Definitely Not All Mary Poppins by writerkid101. I love queer found family stories sm
And lastly, fanfiction - paprika by snapdragonsuplex. It's the excellent writing and ghibli vibes for me
19. What’re you excited about for next year?
Living by myself in one of the most well-known cities in the world???? Still hasn't hit me just yet
20. What’s something you learned this year?
I can look good in dresses, but I do not like wearing them much. I'd still like to try wearing maxi skirts though.
22. Favorite place you visited this year?
Went on the Orange River (specifically the part of the river that's on the border between SA and Namibia) for a school trip. Capsizing sucks but the views and the experience were just extraordinary.
23. If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be?
YES, YOU ARE TRANSGENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lmao good luck with that
25. Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one
One of my best friends and I made two monstergirls whilst playing around with picrews. here's a really quick drawing i did of them together... they are gay and in love <3

I try to keep anime off my main blog, but I need to tell you about three animes that make me absolutely feral.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Attack on Titan, and
Trigun Stampede
FMAB is so highly praised within the anime community and its not hard to see why. It could easily be an action/power-up anime, but it's not. There's so much more that I don't even know how to describe it. It has some of the best female characters I've seen in an anime. It covers grief, loss, war, and more. There is romance but it somehow adds to the story instead of making you cringe away from the show in horror. The story as a whole had me constantly surprised with its reveals. The comedy isn't overdone and never feels forced. And let's just say there's a reason it's my number one and many other's number one as well.
Attack on Titan is probably easier to understand the why behind it. Isayama has irrevocably changed how I see both other shows and the world. I watch shows now in a light that might not have been there, but Isayama changed my brain chemistry and now I can't unsee it. The show started out simple and it could've easily stayed there, but it didn't. Not even halfway through Season 1, we get a part of the story that we never expected. Fast-forward to Season 4 and we learn something that has forever changed how I watch every show from here on out. It went through an animation studio change for the final season and the new studio has delivered a more faithful manga-to-anime adaptation compared to the original studio. The animation through all four seasons is just amazing.
Trigun Stampede was one of the hated animes of 2023, for no good reason!! The animation is above god-tier for being fully CGI (don't knock it 'til you try it). The amount of DETAIL that goes into every action is fucking insane. Studio Orange paid homage to the original 1998 anime while also planning on making a more faithful adaptation. I saw two tumblr posts by someone who analyzed that Vash got animated using proper gun safety and how good of a marksman he is. It's something that could've been glossed over, but Studio Orange said "fuck it" and gave us GOD-TIER animation.
Yeah, more animes than those have made me cry. I cry over Kakashi's backstory in Naruto, but it doesn't give me the absolute need to scream like the three above do. When I say I go absolutely feral over those three animes, I mean I get this pressure in my chest that I feel like I need to scream from how fucking good they are.
If you're thinking about getting into anime, I cannot stress these three enough to at least have them on your watchlist.

Top 5 anime!
Ehehehehe, thank so much for sending me an ask! :3
1. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
The greatest anime of all time, no exaggeration. I even recommend this show to people who aren't into anime, because I truly believe you don't need to be into the genre to love FMA. My mom has even watched it, and she enjoys anime via osmosis mostly.
2. Trigun 98
The anime that made me love anime. I blog about it enough on here that I shouldn't need to elaborate further hahaha.
3. Parasyte -the maxim-
Okay, so when I say this altered my brain chemistry, I 100% mean it. Watching the dynamic between Shinichi and Migi evolve over the course of 24 episodes...life changing. If you aren't bothered by body horror, I am *begging* you to give this a shot. Begging. I promise you will view the world a little bit differently. Oh, and give the manga a go. It's incredible. (I've even got a hand puppet of Migi lmaooooo)
4. Berserk 97
A legendary daptation of a legendary manga. I definitely watched and read both when I was *far* too young. Did that give me brain damage? Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. If you love dark fantasy with horror elements, definitely give this a try. But be warned, there are a lot of trigger warnings, including sexual assault.
5. Neon Genesis Evangelion
An anime that I firmly believe every fan of the genre needs to watch at least once. It is transcendent.
Gah, that was so hard. I'm gonna go ahead and list some honorable mentions: Cowboy Bebop, Psycho-Pass, Ergo Proxy, Gangsta, Ghost in the Shell, Trinity Blood, Hellsing Ultimate, Kuroko no Basuke, Free!, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Ouran High School Host Club, Vampire Hunter D, My Love Story, Orange, 91 Days, Knights of Sidonia, Wolf's Rain, Gintama, and Gantz
Heehee hoohoo, this was soooooo much fun! 💙
Ask me my Top 5 anything!
