Digital Art Tips and Tricks

I had a fellow artist who is new to digital art ask me if I had any tips. I figured I should share some of them with anyone else who may need help! This will be a bit lengthy, so grab some popcorn, get your scolling finger ready, and keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times. Here goes!!

1. To start off, Layers. Use as many layers as you need to. Don't think you have to put all the background details on one, spread it out! If you need to or want to merge two layers later, you have that choice if they're separate!

2. On the topic of Layers, LABEL THEM ALL. It makes keeping track of your Sketch, Lineart, Colors, and Shading so much easier if you have them named!

3. Look for a FREE program. Dont fall for the people that say "ya need ta spend $50 a month on (insert program name) or else-" no. No you don't. You do not have to spend a fortune on supplies to be good at your craft.

I use a program called FireAlpaca, and its DIVINE. Other great options are Gimp, Krita, and Sketch Book Pro. ((I had some links but I lost them ;-; when I find them again I'll edit this!!))

4.  I find it easier to roughly sketch it out on paper, then scan it in and do the lineart digitally. When you're just starting out try doing the lines with ink (use a dark pen/marker!!!) And THEN tracing the lines digitally. Its great practice! Once you're comfortable with that, try doing the rough sketches on paper and then the digital lines! OR if you're feeling super confident, go ahead and try the sketches just on your tablet. ;D

5. Speaking of Scanners. I've been made aware that this is kind of a foreign subject now in the age of digital art. In fact, you may already have one and not know it! 90-95% of printers have scanners built into them, so peek at yours and see if you have one of these magnificent hybrids.

The scanner I have is a very standard printer/scanner/fax machine that can fit to any computer. Go to your local Best Buy or electronics store and ask around there to see what printer/scanner would work best with your computer. Again, you don't need to spend $2k on a scanner. I think mine was about $200-$300, and I (and my family!!) use it every day for school, work, and art. It's close to 5 years old and still going strong!

6. Tablets. Tablets are a heavensend to the digital artist. And like scanners and programs, you don't need a super fancy one to make wonderful stuff. I have a basic less than $100 Wacom Bamboo tablet. My best friend, who is a professional comic artist and graphic designer, has a $500+ tablet with a screen built in (the brand escapes me at the moment...).  

So if you just want to do digital art for fun, don't break the bank. You can still make incredible art and spend no more than $150. Now if you want to turn this into a profession, I would definitely consider looking into something more hi-tech and fancy. Ask your favorite artists what tablet they use, or what brands they recommend. Take another trip to the electronics store and peruse their wares. They might have some good brands as well!

7. Don't be afraid to use references! There are some people who make a side job off of making references and stock photos for people to use! I highly recommend SenshiStock on DeviantArt (https://www.deviantart.com/senshistock). Pinterest is also a great place to look. I actually have a Pinterest full of references and tutorials.

8. While I'm talking about references, I want to cover a topic that is kind of sensitive to the art community: Crediting. Crediting can be hard to do, especially if you are a newbie with art. But it's okay! Many  artists love it when you reference their art, or if it gave you inspiration to create your own ideas.

But then there's the actual crediting. Most artists are okay with a simple link back to their profile, or to the original image. Of course, there are others who are sticklers about crediting. They want borderline MLA College paper crediting. Thankfully there aren't too many people like that, but thery're still there. A fairly safe way to put crediting into text is this: "I used this picture here (link) as a reference. The original artist is Jane Doe on Website (link).

Ex. I used this picture here (https://www.deviantart.com/karebear-4ever/art/Sitting-Lilly-Colored-776084363) as a pose reference. The original image belongs to Karebear-4ever on DeviantArt (https://www.deviantart.com/karebear-4ever).

I'll make a seperate post about all the possible ways to credit, but these are the bare basics!

Nothing Like A Good ‘Ol Secret Santa

Summary: You pick a person, you get them a gift and they have to guess who their gift was from. Simple enough, right? You got Dean and you couldn’t wait for him to open your present.

You were told not to go crazy this year but you couldn’t help it. Dean and Sam deserved so much but you only had so much money to spend. You wanted to have both Sam and Dean for your Secret Santa thing going on but you got Dean after picking his name from a bowl.

You had no clue who got you since everyone has been so secretive lately. You didn’t care about the gifts, you cared about being with your small family on Christmas. It was only going to be you, Sam, Dean and Cas this year since everyone else you knew had somewhere else to be. You didn’t mind that they weren’t going to be here. Your three men is all that you needed.

“Jeez, are you waiting for us to wake up?” You heard someone say from the entrance of the library. You had set up a mini tree inside and put presents under it. You were sitting on the floor, just waiting for the boys to wake up and for Sam to get back from his run. You did have Castiel as company but he left a while ago, saying he needed to get the present he was going to give away.

You looked at Dean who was wearing his old man robe, sipping a cup of hot coffee.

“No.” You said in a not very convincing way. He chuckled and walked over to you, opting to sit at the table than on the floor with you.

“How did you sleep?” He asked, looking at you. There were only four presents under the tree which wasn’t a lot but it was enough and that’s all you cared about.

“Good. I got the best present for my man.” You said, looking at him.

“Well, I don’t know about that, sweetheart.” Dean said with a chuckle. You tried to see if he was your Secret Santa but he gave nothing away. You heard the door open and Sam walked in a few minutes later, sweat running down his body.

“Were you just waiting for us to be ready?” Sam said when he saw you sitting next to the presents like a child would on Christmas Day.

“No. I was talking with Cas but he left me. But hurry up you two. I want my man to see his present!” You said. Sam and Dean chuckled before they both walked away from you and to their respective rooms to get ready. You were bouncing with excitement.

“Okay, now, I’ll hand each of you a present and then when you open it, you have to guess who gave you it. If you’re wrong, you take a shot. Keep guessing and every wrong guess, you take a shot.” You said, grinning. You and Dean were happy that you could turn this into a drinking game. Nowadays, anything could be turned into a drinking game.

“Alright.” The three men nodded and you grabbed the first present and handed it to Sam. He took it and you watched him rattle it to see if he could guess what it was. When he couldn’t decide, he opened the package carefully but Dean was getting impatient.

“Oh, just open it.” Dean said. Sam looked at his brother before opening the present, grinning when they were lore books.

“Wow, these are really old.” Sam said, running his hands over the top book before opening it.

“Who do you think it’s from?” You asked, biting your lower lip.

“I’m going to go with Cas because I can’t count how many times Dean and I tried to look for lore books we don’t have and I know we don’t have these.” Sam said, looking at Cas for the answer.

“Yes, it’s true. I had to go through a lot of trouble to get you these. I hope you like them.” Castiel said.

“Cas, are you kidding me? This is, like, his hobby or something.” You said with a grin.

“Thanks, Cas. I do love them.” Sam said with a smile. You smiled and reached down, grabbing a present without looking at it. It was Dean’s and you tried your hardest to mask your excitement. You handed Dean his present and he wasted no time in opening it. You smiled at Dean’s excitement. He didn’t usually get to have these moments so it was precious to see them when they presented themselves to you.

He gasped as he pulled out a black shiny gun that you had trouble finding. Dean’s been gushing about this gun to everyone but you managed to pay some dude cash for it. He pulled out extra bullets for it and he examined it like any other gun before putting it together.

“Sam, did you do this?” Dean said, looking at his brother.

“I did not, although that gun is pretty awesome.” Sam said, taking the gun and looked at it.

“Cas, this was you, right?” Dean said, looking at the Angel.

“It was not.” Dean’s eyes looked at yours and you smiled shyly at him, biting your lower lip.

“Y/N, it was you?” Sam gave the gun back to Dean and you nodded, smiling at him.

“It was.” You felt a blush creep up because ever since you started hunting with the Winchesters, Dean’s always been special, like as in more than a friend. But you’ve never done anything about it.

“Thank you. You didn’t have to. This must have cost you a fortune.” Dean said, smiling as he looked at the gun.

“It’s no big deal. But I believe you’re supposed to take two shots. You guessed wrong, two times.” You said.

Dean nodded and poured himself a shot, downing it quickly before taking another one. He smiled and licked his lips before looking at you. He smiled at you before putting the gun and bullets back in the box. You smiled and you grabbed the next box, handing it to Cas. He stared at the box as if the answer would magically come out of the box on its own.

“Cas, just open the gift.” You said. He nodded and he took his time, making sure the wrapping was just like it had been when you bought it. You smiled and watched him pull out a Busty Asian Beauties magazine and a Sex For Dummies book. All eyes turned to Dean. He didn’t even deny that he was the one that got Cas that.

“You’re welcome. Now you can use that to your own advantage and make some woman very happy.” Dean said with a wink.

“Thank you, Dean.” Castiel said, placing everything back in the box. You giggled and grabbed the last box, the one that was for you. You opened your present and literally screamed when you saw what was inside.

“What is it?” Dean asked. You pulled out concert tickets and backstage passes for the artist you were the most excited about. You didn’t usually talk about the boring questions that were only asked when you were meeting someone knew. You didn’t know how someone knew of your obsession with this artist.

“No way! These are backstage passes AND floor seats to Y/F/A! Dean, did you do this?” You said, looking at him. He shook his head and smirked when he poured you a shot. You downed it and looked at Sam. You saw a very faint smile on his face and knew he got you these.

“Sam, how did you I liked them?” You asked, looking down at the tickets.

“You listen to them all the time and I got a great deal on them. You can take whoever you want.” Sam said with a smile. You jumped out of your seat and rushed over to Sam, giving him a kiss on the cheek and a hug from behind.

“Oh my God! This is so exciting!!” You squealed, grabbing the tickets and backstage passes, pulling them to your chest.

“I’m glad you like them.” Sam said with a grin. You squealed again and looked at Dean who was smiling at you. This might have been the best Secret Santa you’ve ever had.

“Hey, Y/N, wait up.” You turned around, looking at Dean who walked to you. You had just finished cleaning up the mess from the presents and was about to go to your room to pick out the outfit you’d wear to the concert.

“What’s up?” You asked, looking at him.

“Hey, I just wanted to thank you for the gun. I know it wasn’t easy to get.”

“Oh, don’t worry about it.” You said, blushing a bit.

“No, I mean it. I love it. Probably the best gift I’ve ever been given.” You blushed at his comment and looked down, smiling softly.

“It’s cool, Dean. I’m glad you like it.” When you didn’t hear a response come from Dean, you looked up but stopped when you felt his lips at your cheek. You blushed hard, knowing he could feel the heat coming off your cheeks. He pulled away and you looked up at him, noticing how close you were.

“Thank you.” He said.

“Yeah, anytime.” You said. He winked at you before leaving you alone in the hallway. Damn it, he was going to be the death of you.

LANY @ The Wiltern

After the universe practically begging me to go my second LANY show, I decided to attend on Friday November 3rd at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. Who is LANY? LANY is a synth, dreamy pop band consisting of members Paul Jason Klein, Leslie Priest, and Jake Goss. Klein is the lead singer, Wes is the bassist guitarist, and Jake is the drummer. The band claims to be based from LA, which is where they get the first part of their name from. The 'NY' is a tribute to New York, and the members longing for their music to transcend into both coasts of the U.S. and ultimately the world. 

The show began with the opener, this time, a Norwegian band named Dagny. I was thoroughly and surprisingly impressed by how energetic and fun this artist was. They had only a few songs up their sleeves, but as a newbie, I was in awe and found myself dancing to every song. Dagny reminded me of Sia's powerful and distinct voice, but also her touring band and her gave me Paramore vibes because of their matching white outfits. Never the less, Dagny was one of the best openers I have ever seen.

I would describe a LANY concert to be very chill at first and then gradually becoming an 80's dance party. Their set list was pretty much perfect for a Friday night, especially for a set list that changes every night. It all started with "Dumb Stuff." a short, but sweet mostly instrumental song about relationships. The thing about this song is Klein's strong voice surprises the listener at the end with a couple of verses. And just like that, I understood why I was meant to go. LANY is a band that has a very infectious, dreamy sound that makes you feel nostalgic and transported a bit to the 80's. With viral throwback hits performed on November 3rd like "4EVER" and "WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS" it is hard not to relate as a millennial to LANY's themes about love and platonic relationships. During their set, LANY also covered Harry Styles by implementing "Sign of the Times" into a mashup with their own songs "Pancakes" and "Current Location." They ended their set with my personal favorites, "Super Far" and "ILYSB." 

Overall, this concert personally was one for the books. LANY made me feel so happy inside and dancing is always a plus, especially when it starts as early with the opening act. Klein's encouraging and undeniably energetic and authentic presence made my second time feel as if it was the first. Bonus: The Wiltern is a beautiful small venue and  I would encourage anyone to visit/ attend a show there.

i feel the need to mention, even if i said it before, that i would NOT be studying at an English university right now if it wasn’t for the inuyasha fandom. I was SO nervous of interacting with people here bc i thought i would embarrass myself, but everyone here has been so kind to me since the very beginning and it allowed me to learn and improve so much (and not just for my English, I learned how to use ps too!!) I’ve had this blog for over 3 years now and I feel like its a part of me. I grew with the inuyasha fandom, I’ve been through ups and downs, and you guys have always been here for me when i needed to vent. I can’t thank you enough for that. 11 Question Shenanigans

1. How did you get into fandom? What was your catalyst to finding the tumblr community?

Well, I sneaked my way into the fandom a long time ago, starting with randomly finding the anime on Adult Swim and then eventually stumbling upon fanfiction.net. Already a bookworm, I loved reading all about my favorite characters, and then the plot bunnies formed, and viola! Here I am almost 9 years later and 40 stories deep!

The tumblr community was actually pretty recent (a little over a year). I can thank the wonderful @iliveondaydreams for that. This little sunshine not only accepted to be my beta, but then she introduced me to this community, where the love for my OTP fandom is still going strong. So I get to fall in love with it all over again. She’s a saint, I tell ya!

2.  What’s your favourite part about your favourite fandom?

My favorite part about the Inuyasha fandom is how much positivity and love everyone shows each other. And that even long after the manga finished and the anime stopped airing, this fandom is still as strong as ever, continuing to spread their love through works of art, fiction, and everything in between. Gosh, you all are my rockstars! Thank you for indulging in this fandom as much as I do (sometimes more!). You make my world spin :)

3.  If you could spend the day with any fictional character, who would it be and why?

Hm.. Hard to choose, but I would probably pick Kagome. The thing that I love about Kagome is she is such a leader. She doesn’t follow like a sheep because society says to, and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She asks questions and gets answers, and if she wants something done, she does it. And yet, she’s also cheerful, positive, and an amazing friend. Sometimes I see myself in her. I would love to just be around her (and doing some archery practice would totally be okay, too)

4.  What fictional character has had the biggest impact on your life or has inspired you the most?

Kagome and Inuyasha. They taught me about what I mentioned above, but they also taught me that it’s okay to be different. To never judge a book by its cover. And to always give someone a chance before you turn them away. As I’m sitting here and actually really thinking about it for the first time, I’d say they were a large part of who I became, who I am, and I am so, so grateful for that. There’s a reason why they’re my OTP.

5.  Talk about your favourite book (I KNOW IT’S HARD but if you had to pick one)

So, when I was in high school, I had a friend named Wes. He’s was my best friend since we were 4 years old, but while I stayed a book worm, he got roped into the partying and the drugs, so we obviously lost touch. So the following book already had meaning to me simply because of a name. 

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen is about a girl named Macy who suddenly lost her father to a heart attack, and now as to deal with the emotional toll on her family. Since it happened during their habitual morning runs, Macy gives up running. While her sister is beginning her own life with her husband, and her mother buries herself in work, Macy finds comfort in her boyfriend, Jason - a meticulous brainiac who always has the answers. While he’s away at Brain Camp for the summer, Macy works at the library, and sticks to emailing him about her days. In one email, she finally confesses she loves him, causing him to back off and tell her they need to take a break until he returns at the end of the summer. 

Hurt and upset, Macy goes for a ride and stumbles upon Wish Catering. On a whim, she applies and lands the job. There she meets a wonderful new group of coworkers she absolutely loves, and Wes - the mysterious artist who makes all the girls swoon. 

As Macy begins to breathe again for the first time following her father’s death, her mother feels her grip on Macy is slipping, and struggles to keep control of her daughter’s life. Macy is pulled in two separate directions - the concise and mundane job at the library followed by studying for the SATs at night, or the chaotic, free-spirited friends at Wish Catering that her mother disapproves of. To top it all off, Jason is returning at the end of the summer, where he’ll want to discuss where their relationship will be going from here.

A story about the idea of being “perfect,” and what that does and doesn’t mean.  It’s really a great read and I highly recommend it!

6.  Do you have any accomplishments or anything in your life you feel the most proud of?

Well, I’m graduating college with my Bachelors in Science and Nursing, and will officially take my boards this summer for my Registered Nurse Licensure, so that’s a pretty big deal for me, especially since I’ve been fighting for this for seven years. Besides that, I have been working at a hospital for 6 years, have written a lot of fanfiction stories which I continue to improve my writing skills with, I went out of my comfort zone and traveled abroad for a mission trip (it was the first time I had been on one, the first time I had been out of the country, and the first time I had been away from home for so long), and I am almost completely independent when it comes to my stability. So yeah, I’d say I’m pretty accomplished for the moment. 

7.  Tell us about a project you have going on! Or if you don’t have one, maybe something you’ve always wanted to write or draw?

Guys... I have 60+ pages of projects going on. But I’m really excited about a multi-chapter Fairy Tail fic and a multi-chapter Inuyasha fic I’ve been writing in the background. They won’t be out for a while, since I’m concentrating more on my ongoing fics, but I can’t wait until they’re ready to be published! 

8.  How do you feel about AU’s?

I really enjoy them! I tend to actually prefer them, because you get to see the characters in a different setting, under different circumstances, and in a different time. And you know what they say about InuKag... a love that transcends time ;)

9.  Do you have any favourite composers or soundtracks?

No, not particularly. It really depends on my mood. I tend to like listening to the oldies, but if I ever want to sing along or get some writing ideas, I love good old country music, where every lyric tells a story. 

10.  In your opinion, what is the best Disney movie to come out since Disney’s Golden Age?

Gosh, there are a handful that I fell in love with. Pocahontas was really good, because it shows a woman’s strength and courage and love. To not judge a person by the color of their skin, which I think was a huge lesson to learn. Also, The Little Mermaid, because it was about a girl following her dreams, and doing whatever she had to to obtain them (not saying you should sell your voice to a sea witch, but, ya know). And, most recently, Frozen, because it’s theme that true love comes in many forms, and it’s the best love there is - regardless of who you are or where you come from, you are you, and you are loved. 

11.  Fangirl about something, really go wild!

To be honest... I’ve never really felt like a “true” fangirl. (yeah, oops) I mean, I adore these characters and really fell in love with who they are and what they’ve been through. But... I don’t tend to get really “giddy” (even though when people give me giddy reviews, I squeal like a school girl, and I want to give giddy reviews back, but I just... can’t). I’m sorry, I fail at life. But I’ll attempt to for the sake of this questionnaire. You’re just not allowed to judge ^.^

So... I really love Inukag?? Like, omg, my favorite part is how they call out each other’s name you can just feel their declaration of love, and they always find one another and rescue one another, even though they’re sometimes 500 years apart and I just really, really, REALLY love their dynamic and their friendships and just... everything. 

Including their happy little life with their happy little friends and their happy little towards tomorrow. 

Yeah... I died.

“I love you so much.” You said into the phone with a smile. You were happy for your husband, Jensen that he was working again, getting to be with his coworkers and second family but you really wish he was with you here now. 

“I love you more. I promise to call tonight after we’re done filming. This time, you have to put me on speakerphone so James can hear my voice, okay?” Jensen said, wishing he was there with you. You put a hand on your very large belly, feeling your son kick for the hundredth time that day. 

“Of course. I just wish you were here with me right now. It would make this reunion a lot more fun. I kind of told everyone you were going to be there. There are a few Supernatural fans going to be there. Oh well, guess I have to break their hearts.” You said, sighing into the phone. 

“I know, baby, I’m sorry. You know I would be there but we need to start filming for Season 13. Hey, look, they’re calling me on set now. I gotta go. I love you, sweetheart.” Jensen said, purity in his voice. 

“I love you more.” 

“I love you most.” You both said your goodbyes and you hung up, sighing. You already missed his voice and you hoped this day would go by fast so you didn’t have to worry about anything else. At least you would have your ice cream to cry into later on. 

Being pregnant sucked but you loved every moment of it. James was your first kid and you hoped that you would have more with Jensen. You stared at the ring on your finger and smiled, remembering the day you said ‘I do’ to the most wonderful man you’ve ever known. Shaking those feelings aside, you got out of your car and headed to the gymnasium where the rest of your classmates were. You were going to have a kick ass reunion and you wouldn’t let Jensen not being there stop this from being a good night. 

You walked over to the booth they had in front where you could sign a card or sign a poster. You picked up a pen and signed your name, smiling when you wrote ‘Ackles’ on the paper. 

“Ackles, huh? Like Jensen Ackles from Supernatural?” The woman who ran the booth said with a smile. 

“The one and only.” You said with a smile before going inside where music played. There was drinks and food on one side along with the tables and such, leaving room for the dance floor where a few couples were dancing to the music being played. 

When you entered, you smiled at your high school friends before walking over to them. 

“Y/N! Look at you!!! You’re so big!” Your best friend Cammie said, getting up to hug you. 

“Thank you, I’m so excited! My due date is in a month and a half!” You said, grinning when she put her hand on your belly. You hugged the other girls you hung out with and showed off your belly and ring, talking about how excited you were. 

Then the questions came. 

“Where is Jensen?” 

“I thought Jensen was coming.” 

“When will Jensen be here?” You sighed sadly, hoping to get your mind off this but you pushed through the sadness with a smile. 

“He’s filming Supernatural so it’s just me this year. I know, I wish he were here with me but next time, right? I promise, you’ll all get to meet him when he does come down here.” You said with a smile. They understood how sad you were and decided to drop it, talking about what they have been doing in their lives. 

You met Jensen when he was just starting on Supernatural. You weren’t a fan yet or even on the show. You met him in a coffee shop while he was running to get some for his coworkers. You had just gotten out of class that day since you wanted to take a few college classes for fun when you ran into him. 

It was love at first sight, as they say and you couldn’t get your mind off him. You came back to the coffee shop the next day, hoping he would be there. Fate had a funny way of bringing people together and you knew that you needed to get to know him. 

From that day forward, after numbers were exchanged, you talked every single day, him not missing out on the chance to get to know you because of filming. You were staying at a house your parents rented in Vancouver at the time and when you had to leave to go home in Austin, Texas, you were sad. 

However, Fate played the love cards again and it seemed you were in the same neighborhood as Jensen lived. On breaks, he would hang out with you and during filming, he would sometimes fly you out to him so he could see you in person. 

You had your first kiss in the Impala he owned in the show. Life with Jensen was perfect and you dated him for three years before you said yes to him. By then, you and Misha and Jared were very close. You were glad Jared’s wife lived close to you so you weren’t totally alone. 

You thought you would have Jensen along with you at this reunion of yours since his filming was pushed back because of some difficulties but they called him in early, having Jared leave his wife and kids too. It was hard since you were so close to giving birth. You knew he would request the days off to be there for you but you wished he were with you now. 

You ate a lot of food with your girls, getting up to dance as best as you could since you got tired of things easily. You were sitting down, drinking some water when a slow song came on. You got up, ready to dance but then remembered Jensen wasn’t here with you. 

You watched as couples went to the dance floor, pulling each other close and dancing to the music. You stared at them, getting tears in your eyes. Normally, you wouldn’t cry at something like this but your hormones were off the charts lately. Just seeing all these couples being together made you wish you stayed at home. 

Cammie saw you and whispered something to her husband before walking over to you. 

“Aw, babe, it’s okay. You know he would be here if he could.” She said, sitting next to you. 

“I know and I’m usually not like this. It’s just, I miss him so much and even though I saw him last night, I know he won’t be back for at least 6 more months long enough to take care of his son. I mean, hopefully he’ll make it to the birth but with his schedule, you never know.” You said with a sigh, letting a single tear fall. 

“Hey, why don’t you go home. You can watch your favorite movies and I’ll be over as soon as I can.” She offered. You smiled and looked at her husband who was getting some punch. 

“No, you stay here, have fun with Bradley. I’ll call you tomorrow, okay?” You said, getting up and giving her a quick hug. You sniffled and sighed, walking to the door. Right before you got to the door, you heard the song Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd play. You remembered the first night Jensen ang that at the con you two were attending. 

You were about to leave the gymnasium when you heard his voice. 

Mama told me when I was young "Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say And if you do this it'll help you some sunny day"

You swiftly turned around and saw your husband, Jensen Ackles, on stage, singing this song to you. The spotlight was on him and he didn’t have a microphone on him but one that hooks up to you so the artist can move around while singing. 

You got tears but he continued singing. 

"Oh, take your time, don't live too fast Troubles will come and they will pass You'll find a woman and you'll find love And don't forget, son, there is someone up above"

He walked off the stage and to you where you were frozen in your spot. He held out his hand to you and you took it, smiling through the tears. He walked to the center of the dance floor and pulled you close, as close as you could get with your big stomach. 

"And be a simple kind of man Oh, be something you love and understand Baby be a simple kind of man Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"

"Forget your lust for the rich man's gold All that you need is in your soul And you can do this, oh baby, if you try All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied"

He slow danced with you and you smiled, putting your head on his chest. You held his hands, lacing your fingers with his as one of his hands were on your waist, slowly swaying you.

He continued to sing the song as it played, slowly dancing with you. At the end, when he was all done, he pulled the microphone away and kissed you passionately, letting you know he wasn’t going anywhere for the night. 

You had such an amazing man to love you and you hoped that one day, you could pay him  back for making you unbelievably happy.
