FIRST “NEST” HIGHLIGHTS ✨

Just for the sake of using this blog like an actual blogging space 💁🏻‍♀️✨ let me tell you about how my first NEST went!!

For those of you that aren’t familiar, NEST is one of the biggest fetish gatherings in North America for us t-word enthusiasts! I��ve known about it since forever ago, and this may it was my first time actually attending. It was: everything I’d hoped it would be (˘▽˘ʃƪ)・ﾟ✧♡ here are some highlights!

This gathering was probably one of the biggest I’ve ever been to in terms of the amount of friends I saw alone! There were pals from our Tumblr community, friends from Japan, everyone from my gathering friend groups, and lots of friends from my local community as well. It was really heaven to just be with all of my favourite people all at once and in one place (˘▽˘ʃƪ)・ﾟ✧♡

The events were REALLY COOL! Definitely a gathering with one of the most comprehensive schedules I’ve ever experienced! I participated in as much as I could, but notably the squid games, auctions, and t-word-theatre (which is a big public t-word show where someone get’s got in front of an audience in a very theatrical way!) was super cool! Having said that…

I GOT KIDNAPPED!! Well, “napped” 😅 don’t worry, no real felonies here hahaha. When I applied to be ‘napped like back in the beginning of the year, I didn’t hear anything back at all about the process of how that was going. Knowing not every applicant ends up getting chosen, I didn’t let myself keep my hopes up. Long story short.. after I excitedly went to the t-word theatre event all pumped to watch someone get got… to my great surprise, that person was gonna be me lmao ‼️😱 I was kinda *taken* from my seat and tied to a chair in front of everyone, then a game show-dating show scenario played out with 3 bachelors behind a curtain answering questions (really funny and witty answers, might I add) that the show host threw their way 😆. Of course, then the host eventually asks the question “our bachelorette loves to laugh, how would you make her laugh?” … and basically I watched as all of them came through the curtain to come get me 😱 one by one…. And then !!! OF COURSE ALL THREE HAD TO COME AT ONCE 😱💀😵!!! And I couldn’t take it right so I was yelling “help meeee” hahaha ya know cause pooOOooOoOor meeeee 🤪😇. And the host was like… “sure I’ll help them” AND JOINED IN ON THE LERS SIDE 💀💀💀! ANYWAYYYY despite how extremely evil that was 😜🥺, it was 10/10 one of the coolest experiences of my life, I got an “I got napped” certificate AND it made me really happy when people approached me later saying they liked my scene (˘▽˘ʃƪ)・ﾟ✧♡ THANK U NEST FOR CHOOSING MEEEE! 🩷

This was the first gathering I been to with a partner and he was beyond lovely and supportive and we didn’t struggle with feeling any kind of restrictions due to each other .. and this means a lot because I intend on going to gatherings for as long as I can and the fact that that won’t interfere with my love life is truly a dream come true for me :)

Oh, and I experienced getting t-worded by one of my most sadistic gal pals in a fully nylon body suit and 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 I think my soul left my body that day lmaoooo RIP ME

"What's this?" You ask Sydney, looking at the new box being unloaded from the truck- big and bulky in a crate, far too large to be a produce shipment.

"Uh, I think it's the new glassware for the bar." Sydney looked at her clipboard, back at you carefully.

"Glassware? What new glassware. We haven't picked that out yet." You frowned, looking at the crate carefully.

"Oh, well, it was in Carmen's notes for the day, so... I think that's the only shipment we have. Unless the hostess stand came early, which would be amazing, but you-" Sydney stopped her ramblings, seeing your soured expression. "You know what? Never mind, uh, ignore me. I'm just...Carmen's with Sugar and Richie in the back if you want to ask him."

"Thanks, Syd." You muttered, ripping the bell open with a shrill before bounding towards the back. You could hear them before you saw them, a familiar chorus of chatter and rising voices.

"Hey, so what's the delivery out front?" You ask, not bothering to wait for them to acknowledge you. If you did, you'd never talk, they all talked over each other.

"The new glasses for the bars." Sugar turned, smiling softly at you. "How are you doing?"

"Good." You muttered, eyes cutting to Carmen. "We haven't ordered new glasses yet."

"Uh, well, I thought you liked the ones from last week, angel." Carmen's eyes were bulged, clearly flustered.

"I said I liked them for basics, but I needed you to confirm a drink menu." You glared at him, arms crossing over his chest.

"You can't put the drinks in that?" Carmen asked, hand flying out towards the hall.

"Not if you want the specialty, no." You huffed. "Carmen, I told you to wait just a few days and we could get them at the wholesale market. The textured ones for the signature at least."

"Uh-oh," Richie muttered, snickering to Fak.

"Can you not use the glasses I got?" Carmen sighed.

"I can, but did you get enough? And did we decide if the signature is going in a whiskey glass or a cylinder one? Did you order double of those?" You lifted a brow, taking a step towards him. Richie and Nat watched, heads turning from you and Carmen like a tennis match.

Carmen paused, running a hand down his face. "N-No, but-"

"-So what are you going to do when we open and you run out of drinks, huh? When everyone orders the signature and it comes in different glasses? You think those travel groupie influencers won't notice? Won't post about it and make it a big fucking deal?" You countered.

"Then we'll figure it out!" Carmen huffed. "Look I gave the order to Richie, and-"

"-Hey, no fuckin' way cousin. You gave me your order." Richie held his hand up. "Sweetheart, Carmy said it was good so I just placed the order."

"Well, if Carmen said it was good, then it must be, right? He's the fucking boss." You snarl, glaring at Carmen furiously. "Seems like you've got it under control, Carm, so I'll leave it to you." You turn on your heel, furiously stomping away.

Richie and Fak wait until they hear the slam of the office door, to release their cackles. "Oooh! Cousin, you are in the fuckin' dog house now." Richie laughed, Fak's chorus of barks emphasizing his statement.

"Shut up, ok? Just shut the fuck up." Carmen growled, running a hand through his hair.

"Carmy, why wouldn't you ask her before you ordered? She's your mixologist." Nat sighed, shoulders heavy with disappointment.

"Also your girlfriend." Sydney added, poking her head in. "I told you to wait. Just saying."

"Thank you, alright, thank you all for your fuckin' helpful words." Carmen snapped. "Just... Nat, make sure they get all that shit set up right, ok? Make sure the dishwasher fucking works before we're open, please."

The office door was shut, and Carmen hesitated, reaching for the knob anxiously. He wasn't sure if he should knock- I mean, fuck, this is his office but... you were already so mad at him. Knuckles rapping on the door, he didn't wait for the invite in- knowing he'd never get one.

Carmen found you, sniffling in a furious pout in the corner, body angled away from the door. "Baby-" Carmen started with a sigh, shoulders falling gently at your upset state.

"-Don't." You snap, wiping your eyes. "Don't even start with me, Carmen." The way you say his full name sounds so bitter, too formal and full of malice to be from you.

"I-I'm sorry. I thought we agreed on it, and-and Richie was pressuring me and... And you're right. I shouldn't have made that decision without you, and I'm sorry." Carmen said slowly, waiting for your gaze to meet his, angry, wet, waterline.

"Yeah, you shouldn't have." You agreed bitterly, wiping your eyes. "I get this is your restaurant, Carmen, but don't ask for my help if you're just gonna do what you want anyways. That's-That's not nice."

"I know." Carmen nodded slowly, approaching you with the caution he would a wild animal. "I want your help. I do, and-and I like your idea that the house drink goes in the special glass. Makes it stand out."

You lifted your gaze up to his. "Yeah?" You asked, he nodded, sitting next to you. "Did you blow your budget?"

"No," Carmen shook his head, not a total lie. Fak had been able pull some strings with the new stoves, turns out he did have a guy. It left a little over five thousand left over.

"We could go to that place, if you want to. Go look and see if they have the glasses. Get a rough estimate of about how many we'd need." Carmen offered, his hand cupping your thigh gently, thumb rubbing over your leg in soothing circles.

"As long as Sydney or Nat does the numbers and not you." You snorted lightly, rolling your eyes at him.

He laughed, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, I'll get Sugar to run 'em, alright? Then we can go. Call it an early night."

You beamed at the idea, letting him slide in next to you, melting into your side. "That sounds good." You hummed, letting your head fall on his shoulder.

"I-I'm real sorry I didn't as you ." Carmen muttered. "That was shitty."

"Yeah." You sighed in agreement. "I just... I want to be included in things." You asked, looking up at him sweetly. "Not everything, but-but at least the things that apply to my area."

"I know." Carmen nodded, his hand catching your cheek softly. "I'll let you handle it next time, alright? I trust your opinion."

"You don't have to do that-"

"-No, you're right, I don't. But-But I want to." Carmen nodded. "I know you're lookin' out for the best in this place just like I am."

I try to reply to every comment! Honestly, it's cool when a little convo ensues from that ;) I also save all comments in my jar (a word file) to reread whenever I'm suffering from imposter syndrome/feel down about my writing 😅

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Pheew... That's a tough question. I've written a whole bunch of angsty Hanahaki fics and general angsty shit in multiple fandoms.

Many early AW2 fics center on the aftermath of Jaakko's death ;_; Maybe Kaleidoscope is one of the angstiest endings but certainly not the only one

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

In the romance category that might gonna be the Slow Roasting Love ending. But the Koskelas at Pride was very happy too. Again, it's not easy to choose becos of how many different situations I've written about :P

For a Koskela or Huotari/Reader fic, I'd like to say the historical Ilmari x transmasc Reader where they're in an arranged marriage but Ilmari's a closeted gay man and reader is a closeted gay transmasc person so in the end it works out perfectly for them 🥺😏 It has a smut tag but smut only happens in the last chapter. It's a slowburn fic.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I think only once. I'm surprised and glad it hasn't happened much :P

9. Do you write smut?

Lol, my very first fic on there was smut. Once a smut writer, always a smut writer 😏

10. Craziest crossover?

I have a few post-apocalyptic series with a big mashup of seemingly unrelated fandoms together.

One being about Libraries where characters from Resident Evil meet PoTF characters, OCs and even Rose from Alan Wake so 😂

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Thankfully not.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Two of which one is published on ao3 too and the other on a Russian fan site :D Love when that happened 🙌🥰

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope. However, the Echoverse has come to life thanks to many discussions and conversations with @zephyrone01 and @copiasmic who have helped flesh out that world and given me prompt fuels for some of the fics

14. All time favourite ship?

Tough one, for the AW world it would be CultCase.

Be it in the echo-verse or extended from there in other AUs 😏 And its 'variations' in Ilmari x Kesä. I love their tragedy across several AUs. Same reason I also love Jaakoppi x Kesä

And the third OTP would now be Tim/Jaakko which, again, was born from the Echoverse

15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I once started writing a fic about the Koskelas and the Huotaris and the importance of stars and them trying to escape their tragic fate by astral projection.

16. What are your writing strengths?

🤔Maybe that I write multiple oneshots and make it a series. So you have this idea of a bigger world, without having to write one big overarching story or plot :P

Also, if i'm rly into a fandom and am hyperfixated, that creativity just flows abundant lol

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Fight scenes. And believe it or not, sometimes I feel the smut isn't always as spicy as I want it to be xD especially if it's more than 2 people, that shit is tough to write. U don't want anybody neglected unless it's something a character is into 😂

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I love it, but it's definitely a challenge! I usually resort to/limit myself to some translated words.

So far I've written stuff with Spanish, Finnish or Dutch in it.

19. First fandom you wrote in?

It all started with The Evil Within back in 2014. I think you could see an improvement in my English as the years go on in fic writing :P

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Sticking to AW works.... I like multiple works lmao 😂 All for different reasons. I'd say the two series: YY but Different and the CultCase series. (I can't choose 1 fic 😭)

Some of those stories contained, are standalone oneshots, but all combined give you a vast look into these worlds.

One being about bisexual Kesä and his complicated relation with closeted Ilmari. And the relationships between him and Ahti and between the Huotari brothers and Ahti (WIP)

And then you have CultCase which also explores many interesting dynamics between characters 🥺

And both series have a lot of angst, but also some tenderness and softness in them. And smut 😏 Something for everyone can be found there

Just... look at this art style, it literally always takes my breath away ITS BEAUTIFUL. So expressive and unique, I love it sm. They also have an encanto fanfiction too, it's set a few years in the future and is Mirabel x oc, I would never usually look for those stories on my own, since I'm not really into non canonical ships, but the art they made for it intrigued me and although I haven't read it in a while, from what I did read it was amazing. Really well written and descriptive!

I finally got to see pirate king which made me so happy bc I’ve been an atiny with my mom since debut so it meant a lot! AND I MANIFESTED SUPER BOWL FOR SKZ!! it was all I asked for (my mom and some friends are my witnesses lololol) this kcon I just wanted to see super bowl live and I got it hehehehe 🙈🙈 but I’m so glad I got to see the new title tracks for skz and ateez (s-class and bouncy)

overall I had a lot of fun even tho my mom and I got hit with rain since day 3 concert was in the middle of a storm lololol (eric and chris both told us thank you for coming in the storm and to be safe 🥹) I really had fun this kcon I was sad it was over but I met some nice ppl and had good seats all 3 days down on the first floor it was so cool to be so close on all days 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’ll def post some pictures soon once I’ve gone through my videos

favorite concept for them I believe is a mix between the apocalyptic stuff they’ve done like side effects and scars (and now social path) and I also love the chill and/or cozy vibes they’ve had in things like fnf, the view, blueprint and tmt and things like that. I'd read part 2 yet, tbh I think I completely forgot about it, the memory is NOT good, I'm so sorry! So when the anime DID come out, I wasn't actually aware 😅 until they uploaded episode, like... 10? Or 11? Of the English Dub? AnywAY! THE POINT Is, I started watching because of things I've read, I was TIRED of looking up every single character when I read about them 😭 SO, I watched, got caught up to where it is now, and am waiting for the next episode, and you mention 2 of Cups part 3 is coming out, and I was like "oH SHIT, I REMEMBER READING PART 1!" This may be stupid but I have always thought lace making is very cool but where do you find information on it and how to do it?

I would love to learn at some point but don't really know where to start (or currently have the time to start but still I can save information for a later date)

Hi! That’s not a stupid question at all! It’s one of those things that seems very complicated and intense until you can really take the time to research it.

YouTube is my favorite resource, and what got me going on actually learning. There are a few channels in particular that I’ve found very helpful.

1) RedCardinalCrafts

- has several great videos about beginning to learn how to do bobbin lace, including how to make your own makeshift bobbins and pillow, if you’d like to try without making a big investment

2) Louise West

- she has several good tutorials on basic lace motifs like Torchon ground, spiders, and roseground. Also shows how to do things like wind bobbins and prepare prickings. She designs her own patterns and clearly is an expert in the craft

3) Bryce Adams

- a few good videos on the history of bobbin lace as well as a breakdown of how to make your own pillow, the different pillow types, some tutorials, and some good things to know for beginners.

An absolutely invaluable resource is Jo Edkins’ online lace school. She has tons of free patterns (prickings) available with explanations and visual diagrams, including moving step-by-step examples, for how to do each stitch and how to create each motif. An amazingly helpful site!!!

There are also some books that might be helpful! I recently got “Torchon Lacemaking: A Step-By-Step Guide” by Jan Tregidgo as a birthday gift, and it’s incredibly detailed and well written! I’d check your local library to see if there are any books there that might be helpful, such as “Bobbin Lacemaking for Beginners” by Amy Dawson, or “Bobbin Lace: An Illustrated Guide to Traditional and Contemporary Techniques” by Brigita Fuhrmann. Both of those are books I found at my library!

I hope these resources help! They’re all ones I’ve been consulting very frequently in an effort to teach myself. I also would recommend, if you use Facebook, looking up some groups for lacemakers. I joined one specifically for beginners and it’s been really helpful to ask for advice from others!

The director of Encanto answered a question on Twitter about the birth order of the Madrigal triplets. This is what he said:

I think, based on several bits of evidence that the movie itself gives us, that the birth order should actually be Pepa, Bruno, and Julieta.

lengthy life update (/vent) for anyone interested 💞(tw for things like life stressors, moving, anxiety, etc)

Hi everyone :) so I just wanted to take a sec to update yall on my life and what’s been keeping me so busy. This is gonna be pretty venty but they’ll be a tdlr at the end if you’d like that instead 💞

As some of you probably know already, I just went through a huge move with my partner. We went from living on the East coast on a farm with my family, to a big city in California on our own. We had (and still have) good reasons to do this that I still stand by, and we knew it would be hard, but it’s been so much weirder than I expected.

It’s been hard to be away from my family and to be in a big city that doesn’t feel safe. We’re alright, don’t get me wrong, and after staying with my partner’s family for a few months we both got jobs that we like and we were already able to get our own place which has been really cool.

But now that we’ve moved in and are living on our own for the first time day to day, it’s the weirdest feeling in the world. Unpacking boxes has been taking so much longer than I thought, and there’s so much to keep track of, with new things getting stacked on all the time (for example, someone stole a part from our car while I was working, super expensive to fix 🙄).

There’s a million things I want to improve about my life and about myself (I want to dye my hair, I want to exercise, I want to organize the house and declutter my wardrobe, etc etc) but I’m too busy managing everything day to day. This has always been an issue of mine for a long time, but whereas before it was more of an excuse for myself, now it feels like I have no choice.

My anxiety has also been pretty bad. It makes sense, but it suckssssss. I’m anxious driving, going to work, for literally no reason at all lol, etc. I had my first “panic attack” in over six months the other day (in quotations because I’ve never had a doctor able to give a diagnosis, we just assume). They really mess with my memory, which just makes everything weirder 😓.

I also really miss tumblr! I miss drawing and working on the game and stuff. We get more things set up and unpacked every day, so I think I should be able to get started again sometime soon. The idea of that makes me SO excited. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but doing art for work is my dream. Like game development, or a webtoon, or even just regular commissions! I want to work on my projects like they’re already my job, but that’s really not practical rn :( I think I’m almost there though!!

And things haven’t been all bad! I have my dog with me here now! For those three months we stayed with relatives, she had to stay with my family on the East coast, but she’s here now!! And living on your own, while scary and overwhelming, is a huge privilege and I know I’m super lucky that it’s even an option for me. I hope no one thinks I’m being ungrateful, I know I’m super lucky for the opportunities I have, it’s just hard rn. But I know it will pass eventually! And if it doesn’t, I have more options and paths to try! I just gotta stick it out for a bit, and I know I’ll be happier soon.

I wanna thank you all so much for all the love and support that you’ve given me, especially while I’ve been gone. I really hope I can come back soon and grow this blog into something special! um, hello (^ ^*)/ I'm not really sure if you'll read this, but it's totally fine if you won't!! (no pressure) I'd just like to say I'm really grateful for you and your stories. They are probably something I see as a safe space, they're so inspiring and comforting!! it's really cool how you have the courage and passion to create your art and stories, along with sharing them to the rest of the world. that takes a lot of guts.

i guess i still lack the confidence and faith in my writing skills, since i can't help but doubt a lot about whether or not my stories are worthy and good enough. but anyways, I just wanted to say thank you (again) for being you and for the content you post, they never fail to bring me serotonin or hope that I'd finally feel comfortable enough in sharing my own stories as well. please take care and stay safe out there!! <33 (so sorry though if I rambled a lot, i was feeling a bit down haha)

I’m constantly second guessing my own writing, especially when they’re new fanfics or if it’s like an extra fluffy chapter, so I know how that feels. 😅

It often gets to the point where I reread and re-edit so much that I can’t even tell if I like the chapter anymore, but don’t have the heart to redo it again because I can’t figure out how to reword anything anymore. It’s even worse when it gets into the plot twists as I have a habit of writing very twisty stories because ✨drama✨ and I’m anxious over whether or not it’ll be received well. I also write in the first person PoV which a lot of people hate, but I’m just most comfortable with as it lets me get emotions across easier. As a result, I’m terrified every time I post a new chapter or fic 🤣😭

But I love writing and I love drawing, and I really like to share things and finding out whether or not other people will like them too, so I make myself post everything. What really matters most though in any art or story form is whether YOU, the creator, enjoy what is you’re making. As such? Any ideas of stories or art you want to do ARE worthy and good enough, and no one but yourself can tell you otherwise. Constructive criticism is one thing, hate comments are another. It’s vitally important to learn the difference. (Sometimes I still have trouble, buuuut I’m still learning, lol.)

Oh! And another thing that I promise is relevant even though it might not sound so at first. 🤣

I’m still haunted by the cringe of a Yu-Gi-Oh fic I wrote back when I was, like, twelve, which was the first big fanfic I’ve ever written that really got me into the “isekai” trope because… reasons, but if I didn’t write it back then I never would have gotten to the point where I am now. As a result, while I did delete the (cough) sequels (cough) to it, I still have the original cringe posted on fanfic net somewhere (it was adopted by someone else so it’s not on my profile anymore but like it’s still there) and on my deviantart (yikes) to serve as a reminder of my fanfic origins.

We all have to start somewhere, and that was the starting line for me. 💕

Twelve year old me had an absolutely blast writing that fic all those years ago, and even if I don’t necessarily like the cringe that it is now, if it wasn’t for that troubled kid that wanted to escape into a world of Duel Monsters to get away from reality then we wouldn’t have any of the fanfics I’m writing today. Which would mean no Once Upon a Dream/Tragedy or Desperate Decisions. So! Ahem.

Just know that you have my support and that I believe in you! It might be a little tough or tricky at times, but, whether it be writing or drawing, art will take form if you give it shape. You got this!

I’m also really happy you find my blog/stories/art as a safe space/comfort. 🥰 Drawing and writing has been my comfort for as long as I can remember, so it’s always really nice to hear others enjoy it/take comfort from the things I post!
