By the way, Will is explicitly written not only as a gay character who is in love with his best friend, but also as a character who grew up believing that he’d never fall in love. He’s someone who still believes that he doesn’t deserve to be loved, because he feels like his feelings are a mistake. This isn’t the type of character arc that will end with him watching the only person he has ever expressed interest in, the boy he’s in love with, be with with someone else. That wouldn’t be satisfying for viewers, wouldn’t make sense for Will as a character, and it would be needlessly cruel. In a story focused on demonstrating why society’s outsiders deserve love and acceptance, he’s going to find just that. It’s the only end for him that fits with his arc and the show’s narrative themes. To have it end otherwise is terrible writing.

“When he bites her and she’s writhing on the floor, in her full orgasm, she breaks the table. They missed it. The most erotic thing I’ve ever seen on TV, and the censors missed it completely.” - Sarah Michelle Gellar

ok so you know how in china 'cut sleeve' was used as an euphemism for homosexuality. that but in lorasia they use 'lullaby singer'. or 'angel fighter'. lately 'knightly escort' is making the rounds. there's a lot of euphemisms for gay people actually.

I could write an essay on Doctor Odyssey and how the fantastical aspect of the ship isn't due to it being the purgatory or a dream but rather linked to the metatextual plot of the show and how the Odyssey is meant to be an in-universe representation of what the show aims to be in our reality, a direct answer to the effects of the COVID pandemic on our world that aims to create an atmosphere of escapism in a medical environment to create hope and happiness while still acknowledging current events. The weekly themes, along with the very goal of the show, are the strongest indicator of a meta narrative, very clearly designed with the show's weekly nature in mind. They wouldn't work as well in a show designed for streaming. Captain Massey himself says the ship is carefully built to show itself as a heaven to its guests, explaining the unrealistic scenarios and vibe of the show, but by focusing on the emergencies that happen on board the show allows the viewers to explore the cracks in that illusion and creates a place in which both serious themes and mindless fun can be equally approached. We see that contrast in 1x06 when the screen cuts from a threesome straight to the suicidal hotline screen; the episode successfully indulges in the hedonism of the cruise ship established early on without detriment to its more serious storyline, which includes one of the best portrayals of panic attacks I've ever seen on tv. Although both concepts are more clearly separated throughout the episode, the cut-off from one to another at the end is jarring, reminding the viewer of how both concepts coexist both in the Odyssey and in real life. As silly as it might be at times, the show isn't mindless, but rather a well-executed reminder that there is light at the end of every tunnel, and that maybe that light comes in the form of a Ryan Murphy network tv show about a throuple solving medical emergencies on a cruise ship.

i know a lot of people are trying to put ivan and till's relationship and feelings into a clearer perspective but i think yall r forgetting that like. they were put into anact garden as children. their whole lives theyve only known other children and alien overlords. theyve probably never had an adult human to look up to. its only natural that the relationships they have with each other exceed the titles and definitions we're used to, because the conditions of their lives are fundamentally different than ours.

Have you ever watched stand by me 👉👈
If not, you should, and if you have, what's your opinions on it?
:)
this probably aint necessary but just in case!! stand by me spoilers under the cut!!
Heya hon!! ok. I HAVE!! however it has been a VERY long time. I remember. likin it. for the most part. I both read the book it was originally based on n watched the movie n (again if memory serves) enjoyed both!! there is definitely a case to be made that both the outsiders n stand by me are DEEPLY similar genres (young group of poor boys, shrouded in tragedy, comin of age). n I remember the endin deeply affected me. I'll throw a spoiler warnin in here just in case anyone is interested in tryin to watch/ read it!! but the realization that findin the body wasn't some great adventure or mythical story. it was just a child. like them. who had once run n played n scraped knees. had once had a childhood just like there's. God. that shit left such an insane mark on me as a child. it was such a starkly different endin then you had come to expect from that type of story. it was (n probably still is) one of the best subversion of expectations I've encountered. I remember Gordie n Chris' friendship also left such a lastin ache in me. in some ways they remind me of Pony n Johnny. (Another big spoiler warnin) The endin of Chris n Gordie growin up n driftin apart n Gordie readin about Chris dyin tryin to protect someone when a gas station he happened to be in was held up. probably rewrote somethin in my brain. The book at least (n I believe the movie too) have a similar endin to the outsiders with Gordie recountin the story of that summer. the line right near the end: 'I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?' still haunts my ass to this day. good lord.

anyway, Occam's Razor doesn't actually say that the *simplest* solution is usually correct. if it did then the explanation for most things would just be "wizards n' warlocks, probably" so, what *does* it say? That the solution requiring the *fewest assumptions* is often correct It's not an appeal against complexity, it's meant to shave away conspiracy theorizing, black-and-white thinking, and circular logic, and appeal towards evidence-first reasoning

it should be a punishable criminal offense that every star wars reference book published after the release of The Clone Wars either A) glosses over Fives entirely or B) includes one (1) image of him and that image happens to be objectively the worst and least-flattering picture of the man that's ever been taken
