The Horizon Dating Simulator Project
There’s been so much interest and positive response to this! We’re so thrilled that fans across the board are looking forward to playing!
As an update, several ships have been filled with their teams, but we have some that could use another member! Aloy/Ikrie, Aloy/Petra, Aloy/Yarra, and Aloy/Alva could use another writer. Most ships have artists, but if you are willing to collaborate with the lead or be a back-up, this can help. And if there’s a writer & artist team that wants to take on Aloy/Avad…
Audio and coding help is always in need!
DM me here or @diiddums#1977 on Discord, or reach out to @kittleskittle for more information!

OC Interview - Ryscha
Got tagged again by @palepinkycat Thank you!
This has gone around a lot so if you see this and want to do it again or haven’t done it yet this is me tagging you!
Tumblr media
► Name ➔ “Just Ryscha. Though my sister tells me that I was born as Yarra Kine.”
► Are you single ➔ She smiles as she shakes her head. “Not anymore, no.” ► Are you happy? ➔ “Surprisingly, yes.” ► Are you angry? ➔ She looks momentarily guilty before nodding. “It happens. Not very Jedi of me but the Order and I separated some time ago.” ► Are your parents still married? ➔ A frown appears on her face and her eyes seem to flicker yellow for a moment. “I would prefer not to talk about my birth parents.”
NINE FACTS
► Birth place ➔ “Ziost, I assume.” ► Hair color ➔ “Black.” ► Eye color ➔ “Uh...” She quickly glances off to the side where a reflective surface is. “Grey. Yep, they’re always grey.” ► Birthday ➔ “Oh! I had my first one of those last year! But it was kind of a busy year so let me ask my sister what the date was and I’ll get back to you.” ► Mood ➔  She shrugs. “I’m alright.” ► Gender ➔ “Female.” ► Summer or winter ➔  “Winter.” She says with a wide smile. “The way sounds become soft and muffled after a fresh snowfall is always so peaceful and beautiful.” ► Morning or afternoon ➔  Leaning back in her chair, she frowns in thought. “Morning. It isn’t as quiet as I might like, there are always military and intelligence folks doing their morning routines but watching the star rise up on the horizon is always a breathtaking sight.”
EIGHT THINGS ABOUT YOUR LOVE LIFE
► Are you in love? ➔ A wide smile spreads across her face as she nods. “I’m fortunate to have two wonderful women in my life that I adore.” ► Do you believe in love at first sight? ➔ “No, I don’t. Love is something that you have to work for. It doesn’t happen overnight or at a glance.” ► Who ended your last relationship? ➔ “I’ve never actually had any other relationships. The Jedi usually cracked down on that sort of thing.” She pauses for a moment before laughing. “If the Order was still around I doubt they would be very happy with me. Both because I have partners and because of who they are. Jedi, even former Jedi, aren’t really supposed to find comfort in the arms of Sith.” ► Have you ever broken someone’s heart? ➔ “I don’t think so.” Her expression turns briefly sad as she looks at off into space. “But I do sometimes worry what my old master would think if he could see me now.” She lets out a sigh before briefly rubbing at her eyes. “But the dead don’t care, so I suppose it doesn’t matter what he would think of me.” ► Are you afraid of commitments? ➔ She looks away and plays with her glove for a moment before answering. “Commitments shape us. We choose to dedicate ourselves to many things throughout our lives like people, organizations or ideas. Those commitments can be comforting to some or overwhelming and terrible to others. I have experienced all of those feelings because of my commitments but I will say that I have found the most comfort in commitments to people.” ► Have you hugged someone within the last week? ➔ “I try to make a habit of it, actually.” ► Have you ever had a secret admirer? ➔ She scratches her head in thought. “Not that I know of but then I suppose it wouldn’t be a secret, would it? ► Have you ever broken your own heart? ➔ A frown appears on her face as she considers the question and she remains silent for several long moments. “No. Not my heart. Disappointed myself? Broken my own moral code? Yes. But I’ve never broken my heart.”
SIX CHOICES
► Love or lust ➔ “You know that you can lust after someone that you love, right?” ► Lemonade or iced tea ➔ Her face lights up at the question. “Oh, Vette makes the best lemonade! Or she might have it smuggled in. Honestly, I don’t know where she gets it. All I know is that it tastes great. Even my sister loves it.” She glances around before lowering her voice. “Don’t tell her I said that though. Amarra gets weird about enjoying small things like lemonade.” ► Cats or dogs ➔ “Rancors! I have a baby that I’ve been raising.” An audible groan could be heard from someone in the group listening to the interview. Ryshca simply laughs and motions for another question. ► A few best friends or many regular friends? ➔ “A few best friends.” She answers immediately. “Those are people that I can trust and that will actually stand with me. I’ve found that regular friends tend to vanish when things get complicated.” ► Wild night out or romantic night in? ➔ She shudders slightly at a memory she refused to expand on. “Night in. Never again will I try the whole wild night out. And no I won’t be elaborating on that.” ► Day or night ➔ She hummed thoughtfully before shrugging. “Night I suppose. Have you ever seen the galaxy from a planet without air pollution? It is gorgeous.”
FIVE HAVE YOU EVERS
► Been caught sneaking out ➔ Her face darkens and her grey eyes again seem to flicker yellow. “My adoptive father did catch me, yes.” ► Fallen down/up the stairs ➔ “I’ve been thrown down them during a fight before.” ► Wanted something/someone so badly it hurt? ➔ Her jaw clenches and she makes a fist with one hand before shaking her head. “Next question.” ► Wanted to disappear? ➔ She looks down and refuses to meet anyone’s eye as she answers. “More times than I care to admit.”
FOUR PREFERENCES
► Smile or eyes ➔ “Depends on the mood I’m in. Fortunately, I can enjoy both.”  ► Shorter or taller ➔ “Taller.” ► Intelligence or attraction ➔ “My partners happen to have both,” she says with a smile. ► Hook-up or relationship ➔  “I suppose now I would go with relationship. Though one of my current relationships started after we had several casual hook-ups.”
FAMILY
► Do you and your family get along ➔ “My sister and I have gotten pretty close and we work together very well.” ► Would you say you have a ‘messed up life’? ➔ She lets out a long sigh and her expression becomes tired. “If you knew half of the things that I’ve seen and experienced, you wouldn’t ask that.” ► Have you ever ran away from home? ➔ Anger briefly flashes across her face before she answers. “Unsuccessfully.” ► Have you ever gotten kicked out? ➔ The flash of anger returns and her eyes turn yellow for several long seconds as she speaks. “I used to wish that he would kick me out. But his orders were to keep an eye on me. If you want to know more go talk to the Republic.”
FRIENDS
► Do you secretly hate one of your friends? ➔ She looks shocked. “No, of course not.” ► Do you consider all your friends good friends? ➔ A frown appears on her face as she considers her words. “I don’t have casual friends. I imagine that a lot of people might say they’re my friend but the reality is that they have chosen to stay here for their own benefit, not mine and certainly not the galaxy’s. The only friends I value are those few that have proved they won’t abandon me when things get tough.” ► Who is your best friend? ➔  There is a long pause as she taps the arm of her chair in thought. “Garak. That isn’t his real name, of course, but it is the one he currently uses. We met a long time ago on Taris.” She chuckles for a moment before continuing. “He actually got the better of me. Tricked me with a holographic disguise. I caught up with him and after a fight we parted on good terms.” A sad yet grateful smile spreads across her face. “He eventually saved me from myself and even now he helps in so many ways. And no I won’t tell you what he used to do or who he used to be. He is just Garak now. Plain and simple Garak.” ► Who knows everything about you ➔ She smiles sadly. “I don’t even know everything about me. And the only people that might know everything have been dead for years.”

NaNo Day 16
I keep getting distracted by fluff and hints of smut when I should be working on my chronological plan. If I don’t do things in order there’s a possibility I mightn’t ever finish this novel, which is really concerning.
Snippet, as always, below the cut.
My phone rang again. Needing a moment to process the bombshell I’d just received I answered, Mum screaming and begging to know I was ok the moment i said ‘hi’.
“Mum...Mum..” I couldn’t get a word in over her hysterics. “Mum!”
Finally the incomprehensible yelling stopped. “Is that you on the news? In Melbourne? Are you ok? Do i need to send someone?”
“I’m fine, I promise.” I hunted for the remote and flicked on the TV, channel surfing until I found one showing the news.
Someone had filmed the attack from earlier, the news broadcast showing the moment i’d been shoved into the van on repeat, along with the attack at the beach from Saturday.  ‘Gangland Violence Resurgence’ scrolled across the screen, and they’d somehow managed to find an actor from Underbelly to appear as a talking head next to the footage. To my dismay it kept cutting out the moment Blake had a gun to his head and I was shoved into the van, giving me no indication as to if he’d survived.
I pinched the bridge of my nose, feeling a headache coming on. I needed an aspirin. Or a drink. “Mum, it looks way worse than it was, I swear.” I may have been lying, only I didn’t want her to worry.
“Just come home now, please.” She was practically begging. “I’ll send someone to pick you up. Is there a helipad where you are?”
“No, Mum.” She’d die if she knew where I was living, her dressing room being larger than my unit. “Please don’t send anyone. I promised i’d be home on Thursday and I will.”
Marcus had poured himself another rum and I snatched it off him, necking a shot straight from the bottle.
Mum started yelling again and I held the phone away from my ear. Across the room Imogen winced.
Suddenly she stopped, my father’s voice replacing hers.
“Pumpkin.” He was as clipped as always, only it was good to hear his voice.
“Hi Dad.”
“Is everything alright?”
I was sure he was expecting me to say ‘peachy’. When I’d first made contact with him after running away I’d managed to convince him not to send people looking for me by agreeing to use code words if I was ever in trouble.
"I’m ok Dad.”
I heard him breath a sigh of relief. “Good. Do you need a security team?”
“No, I’m fine.”
He didn’t speak for a moment, leading me to picture the look of disappointment that was probably on his face. “I will have helicopter waiting for you at the helipad on the Yarra River on Thursday, so that you can come home. You will-” his voice broke a little. “You will be coming home?”
“Of course. I miss you both so much!”
“Good. Love you Pumpkin.”
Damnit, I was crying again. “Love you too Dad.”
He hung up and I wiped my face, needing the tears to stop. I hadn’t realised just how much I missed them, though seven years apart would do that.
Imogen handed me a tissue.
“So you want to help,” I said, looking between them both. “How. How can you possibly help.”
“We’ve experience with curses and prophecies,” Marcus told me, switching off the TV.
“I was watching that.”
“They’re not going to tell you anything about your...Blake that you don’t already know.” Marcus held up his phone. “But I’ve got an alert set up if the cops add anything new to their database. So let’s focus on you, yeh, because worrying about him isn’t going to help you.”

Melbourne Covid outbreak: Café owner had no idea his store was exposed to Covid
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Melbourne cafe owner said he wasn’t aware his store had been exposed to Covid until a customer informed him that the venue was meant to be closed.
Port Park Cafe in Port Melbourne is considered a Tier 1 exposure site, however owner Charlie Nasr was none the wiser and continued business as usual for more than an hour on Wednesday morning.
A Covid-positive patron attended the coffee shop on Monday May 24 between 12.30pm and 1pm.
Mr Nasr told Neil Mitchell on 3AW on Wednesday morning that a customer said to him ‘you’re listed as one of the exposure sites’.’
Mr Nasr said he didn’t receive communication from health authorities until 8am.
‘I got a phone call from a lady from the South East Public Health Unit for Monash Health and that was at about 8am … advising me that I’m an exposure site,’ he said.
‘We were open and we were an exposure site but we had no idea that we were. That’s where we were a bit upset.
‘I’ve had customers calling up all day panicking because I served them this morning.’
Melbourne’s Covid outbreak is now at 15 cases, with 11 new infections.
The latest infection was confirmed just before Acting Premier James Merlino gave an update on Wednesday morning.
He said the next 24 hours would be critical as the government considered further restrictions.
‘I cannot rule out taking some further action, but we will update people as soon as we know,’ Mr Merlino said.
‘It’s fair to say the 24 hours are going to be particularly critical.
‘It’s good that everyone (cases) is linked at this stage, but we are concerned about the number and also about the kind of exposure sites.’
The number and spread of exposure sites around Melbourne has grown rapidly, from 10 on Tuesday to 50 on Wednesday morning, including the MCG.
Health Minister Martin Foley said there was ‘concern’ about three inner-suburban entertainment venues on Saturday night and Sunday morning that were tier-one exposure sites – Three Monkeys and the Somewhere Bar in Prahran, and South Yarra’s Circus Bar.
The new cases come as one of the infected people from the growing coronavirus cluster in Melbourne’s north attended an AFL match at the MCG at the weekend, prompting a government health warning.
The infected fan was at the Collingwood-Port Adelaide game at the MCG on Sunday, sitting in zone 4, level 1 of the Great Southern Stand at the Punt Road end.
Spectators who sat in the same area are being contacted by Victoria’s health department using data from tickets and QR codes. They will have to get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.
Others who sat in the surrounding area are being told to go for testing if they develop symptoms.

Watch: Karlie Kloss on bucket list travel, training for a marathon and changing clothes on an airplane
Slay all day.
Karlie Kloss might actually be superwoman. The 24-year-old American model and multi-hyphenate landed in Melbourne after 30-hours travelling, changed clothes on the plane and made it to the Melbourne Tennis Centre in time to see Serena and Venus duke it out at the Australian Open.
“I feel like I just live on airplanes so I feel very comfortable just getting on with my day,” Kloss told Vogue the next morning, just minutes before she joined dozens of Australia’s most popular fitness influencers and Adidas Performance Store shoppers for an Adidas-led sweat session overlooking the Yarra River. Of course, there was nary an ounce of energy lost or a jet lag-fuelled dark circle to be found anywhere near Kloss' orbit.
“But how often is it that you get to experience a match like that and see Serena and Venus?” the bright-eyed American — who counts 6.2 million Instagram followers in her digital squad — rhetorically and excitedly asked. “It was very special.”
The model, NYU student, coding expert, philanthropic cookie aficionado and Adidas brand ambassador clearly lives life and runs her burgeoning empire on her own terms, embodying the brand’s “Never Done” campaign mantra in all of her daily pursuits.
"I find in my life [that] health and wellness and fitness and strength in the body and mind are so important and help me be the best version of myself. I really am never done on that journey," Kloss said just before her workout, which has recently expanded from running, biking and swimming to include boxing.
“Which is a new challenge for ballerina over here,” the former dancer mused. Another way she’s currently challenging herself physically? By training for a marathon, as one with so much free time does.
“Hopefully 2017 is the year.”
So just how does a goal-smasher like Kloss get herself out of bed and lacing up her Adidas trainers day after day? Two words: small steps.
“Starting with two miles and then five miles and kind of building,” she said of her own physical journey. “Having goals that you can set and then you can really push yourself but not be too hard on yourself.”
While she admitted she’s never done pushing herself as far as fitness and strength goes, there’s another area of life that Kloss continues to develop — her curiosity for travel.
“I’m never done exploring,” she said, explaining how she’d be visiting the Great Barrier Reef after Melbourne and Sydney work commitments were done. “The New Year is a great opportunity to refocus and I definitely have some goals —both physical goals and career goals and places on my list I want to see and things to learn. I have a busy year ahead.”

Archer has admitted he was involved in the incident, but has denied assaulting anyone.
In a statement released on Monday by the North Melbourne Football Club, of which Archer remains a board member, the former player said he was full of regret.

“I would like to apologise unreservedly for my involvement in what transpired at a junior football match in Heidelberg on Sunday,” Archer said.
“Jumping the fence to defend a player was inappropriate and unacceptable.”
For its part, the club stated it believed “that under no circumstances is it appropriate for parents or spectators to enter the field of play or get involved in on-field matters – a view reinforced by Glenn today in his public comments and in his conversations with the club”.

The club said it would await the outcome of police investigations before determining any action on the matter.
The 44-year-old retired North Melbourne player was watching his son play for Park Orchards Under 15s against Banyule in the Yarra Junior Football League when a fight erupted between two players on field.
Archer told radio station SEN on Monday morning that a boundary umpire, who was also the parent of an opposition player, grabbed a Banyule player before pushing off another player with his forearm.
Archer then jumped the fence and ran onto the oval.
Minutes later, Archer said, the opposition’s coaching staff and their runner began “screaming and swearing” at him.
Archer said he pushed the runner after the man got in his “personal space”.
“I walked close to the fence to let him know the context of what happened,” Archer said.
“I was trying to tell him the umpire hit the player. He [the runner] hit me in the face, I fended him off and it turned into a screaming match.
“I thought ‘no one will defuse this situation’, so I got into the car and headed home.”
Police said the victim, a 47-year-old Montmorency man, sustained minor injuries which did not require any medical treatment.
Archer has been bailed to appear in the Heidelberg Magistrates Court on September 1.
AFL Victoria said it had zero tolerance of antisocial behaviour but that it was up to region commissions and metropolitan leagues to enforce their own code of conduct policies outlining appropriate behaviour of spectators.
It said all leagues have investigation and tribunal procedures in place which are followed if an incident that breaches the league’s code of conduct policy is reported.
The Yarra Junior Football League said it was also investigating the matter.

Event #11: Crown Casino Flutter
Melbourne Bucket List [Click here to join: https://www.meetup.com/Melbourne-Bucket-List-Group]
MBLG Event #11: Crown Casino Flutter Thursday, 16 March 2017 Casinos… you either love them, or hate them. Either way, they are definitely intriguing. The Crown Casino, in Melbourne, first opened in 1994 in a temporary location on the north bank of the Yarra while the Crown Casino Complex was being built. The new complex featuring 3 hotels, spas, casino, plus restaurants and bars, opened in 1997. You must be over 18 to enter the casino, which is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year… except for Christmas Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day, when entrances close from 4am to 12 noon, while allowing gamblers already inside the casino to stay and continue gambling. So, in reality, the casino never never ever ever closes! There are a couple of other restrictions: Dress Code: For the main areas of the casino, dress is neat casual. Definitely no singlets or thongs. And if you're carrying a large bag or briefcase they'll ask to inspect it for security purposes. Photography: Casinos, in general, aren't happy about you taking photos of other people in their facility. However, they don't mind if you just photograph people in your own group, or take selfies!. Parking in the Multi-Level Car park is: Sunday to Thursday: $6 for 5 hours!.. $9 for 5-7 hours!.. $16 for 7-24 hours!!! On Fridays, Saturdays and Public Holidays: $20 flat rate The first time I visited the Melbourne Crown Casino was soon after it opened in its current location in 1997. There was a huge buzz over the building’s features, mainly those outside the gaming rooms. The crowds came in droves, with kids in tow. Outside the complex were the dancing waters. Submerged water pipes arranged in a series of concentric circles that shot water up 2-3 metres into the air at random. At night, these pillars of water were even lit up in different colours. The kids loved them! On hot days, they would dash across the concrete base with the challenge of getting to the other side completely dry. Nine times out of ten they failed, but those were the most fun! Those dancing waters have long since been removed. Another attraction was the Fireball Towers, a series of rectangular concrete pillars lining the Yarra River along the Crown Casino Complex. A story I heard way back then was that, on the first fireball exhibit, a flock of hapless pigeons were incinerated mid-air. The Fireball Towers shot huge balls of fire into the air, every hour, on the hour, from 6pm until Midnight. The online information still promotes this Fire Display Timing. However, when I went there this Thursday, they failed to fire up at 6pm. It’s uncertain whether this feature still exists. Once inside the complex, in the main Atrium near the stairway leading up to one of the Crown Casino Hotels, there were a couple of other public features. The first was a small replica of the dancing waters below a small waterfall and coming up from an elevated circular black marble base. These waters only shot up about a metre in height, and danced to the beat of piped classical music. Alas, when I visited on Thursday, the only thing I saw was a random spit of water here and there. The second feature was the giant crystal disappearing chandeliers. At the beginning of the light show, these 5-metre chandeliers appeared as if from nowhere and were accompanied by multi-coloured dancing lights that extended across the entire crystal Atrium ceiling. These lights also danced to the piped classical music. On this visit, I spent 35 minutes (from 5.15pm to 5.50pm) watching this light show, hoping to see the already descended chandeliers disappear back into the ceiling. However, it never happened. So, again, I’m unsure whether this feature still exists. Anyway, all of these features were designed to bring families to the casino. Maybe this isn’t something the casino wants to promote any more. Maybe their emphasis is now on getting gamers to come into the Crown’s gaming rooms… where the real money is made. So, let’s look at that now. This MBLG meetup had originally been planned for a Friday night, but after I checked their parking rates, I changed it to a Thursday night to take advantage of their $6 for 5 hours parking rate. Obviously, the Crown Casino knows that their biggest profits come from the gaming tables, not from the parking. So it’s unwise to turn the gamblers away at the car park! I knew the dress code was not as strict as it used to be, so as long as you weren’t wearing thongs or a singlet, you were good enough to enter. However, I wasn’t sure about hats and bags, so I left those at home. To satisfy my curiosity, as I entered the casino gaming area, I asked the security guard if hats were allowed. He assured me they were, but that I may be asked to remove my hat if I sat at a gaming table. Inside the casino, I saw many people with handbags and even shoulder bags, so they were obviously allowed in. I had been to the casino several times over the past 20 years, but I’d never noticed some things. Here are a few of those things: The slot machines took credit cards or bank notes, not coins. I sat at the very first slot machine I saw, Quad Shot. It was a 5-cent machine, meaning that each line you bet on costed you 5 cents. Five dollars gave me 100 spins if I played just one line at a time. The most I could bet was on 40 lines at once, but I could also increase my bet by up to 15 times, meaning that the maximum bet I could make on this 5-cent machine was actually $30! (5c x 40 lines x 15 = 3,000 cents = $30). My aim wasn’t to try to make a living from gambling, rather, it was to experience the game and pass a little time. So, I only played one line at a time. After a few spins I had built up a $10 credit. This was a winning margin of $5, or 100% profit! Better to leave as a winner, I thought, so I decided to cash in! The slot machine didn’t spit out any cash. My winnings were printed on a ticket, which I took to the Cashier who exchanged it for a $10 note. The Lucky Big Wheel, about 2.5 metres wide, had 54 sections, about half of them being for the $1 bet. This Big Wheel was played by machine. The minimum investment was $5. So, I thought I’d play the $1 even-money bet. That would give me 5 spins. But after the first spin my total investment disappeared! It was only then that I saw a notice advising me that the minimum bet was $5. I had much more fun with the slot machine! Later, I noticed another Big Wheel being spun by a casino employee! There were no machines here, but the principle was exactly the same. This time, fully aware of the betting limitations, I placed another $5 on the $1 even-money bet. This time I won! So, I recouped my previous loss and was once again $5 ahead in total winnings. I was amongst the card tables now. They were playing Caribbean Stud Poker, Texas Hold Em, Black Jack and Pontoon. These games had very large minimum (ante) bets of $15, $25 and $50… but much more was being bet by the gamblers at these tables. I was definitely out of my league here, so I moved on to something much more familiar: Roulette! Some of the Roulette tables had very high minimum bets, so I asked a casino employee where the Small Limit Tables were. Apparently, the first floor had Small Limit Tables! I was there in a flash! These tables had $2.50 minimum ‘inside’ bets, which meant I could bet $2.50 on any individual number, or combination of up to 6 numbers… but if I placed an ‘outside’ bet (eg. Black) the minimum bet was twice as much ($5). The first thing I noticed was that the Roulette wheel now had a ‘00’ number added to it. The casino had abandoned the European Roulette Table design with only one ‘0’ and adopted the American Roulette Table design with the ‘00’ alongside the ‘0’. All the other numbers on the table were the same and the bets still paid the same: individual numbers paid 35-1. What the ‘00’ did was to increase the casino’s previous winning ratio by 100% over the players that backed 1-1 bets (Black/Red; Odd/Even; 1-18/19-36). As there wasn’t any other option, the Roulette Tables still had an audience. I didn’t want to jump onto the Roulette Table too quickly, so I stopped by the Sports Bar for a Guinness. A 440 ml can cost me $11. In the early days, I fancied myself as a numbers man, so I developed a Roulette gambling system. It was not perfect, but I had won more that I’d lost. To put it in perspective, I was about $200 ahead… so I never played for much money. Today I thought I’d give it another try. After 40 bets on BLACK and 24 bets on ZERO, I was another $200 ahead. So, I quit. Total winnings for the night, $205. Nice! It was nearly 8.30pm. I hadn’t noticed the time had flown by so quickly, but that’s not unusual for a casino visit. It’s common knowledge that you’ll never find a clock or a window in a casino. They don’t want the gamblers distracted by outside stimulants like dusk or dawn. As a final indication of how Crown Casino had made their audiences totally engrossed in their gambling, I passed by the enormous Groove Lounge as a sole guitarist sang to a stark empty hall. Today I was leaving as a winner… but I knew that I was in the minority. James Taris [email protected]

MINE ESCAPE – SOUTH MELBOURNE (12-18 Yarra Street - South Melbourne)
Wow!!! This is absolutely the best puzzle game I have ever played in a long while. The hardest bit was to choose which game you would like to be part of. They have seven puzzle games to select from but since it was during school holidays, the choosing was made easier for us because there was only one available for us on the day we wanted and that was ‘Mine Escape’. So word of advice, should you want to do this activity during the school holidays and want the option of choosing, please book well in advance. All bookings are online and you have the option to pay with PayPal or Credit Cards. Once we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff member, where she explained to us the rules, how long we have to figure out the clues and hints to escape the room (70 minutes) and sign a waiver form for insurance purposes. Most importantly, she explained to us why we cannot use cameras in the rooms, so not to spoil for others who haven’t had this experience before. You know how it is, posting on social media or emailing to friends with photos of questions and answers – not a good idea. However, she did say we can have our photos taken in the waiting area, which we did having ‘Mine Escape’ sign above our heads. We were given a walkie talkie so we can communicate with staff should we get “stuck” on a puzzle or… staff can contact us, redirecting us if needed or help us a little if we take too long on a particular puzzle to solve. We were a team of five, where you can have up to six people per team and the prices range how many you have – we paid $149 for the five of us. What did we think of ‘Mine Escape’? It was an amazing experience, a great thinking game, a game of fun and laughter and the clues and hints are so cleverly disguised and hidden. You would most definitely need a team, where in some places it stumped me, you would hear another voice in the team suggesting or directing you to the right section – you definitely need more than one thinking brain! This game sure gave our brains a good workout, where we had to even use our Math knowledge… brain meltdown! The layout of the rooms were great, where it suited the theme, with hardhats, scales, barrels, etc. Once you figured out the puzzle, you will find a key or code to unlock boxes where there is another puzzle to solve until you work your way out of the door where you originally entered to start the game. So… did we achieve our goal? Nah… failed miserably, however we did manage to escape the room but not within the 70 minutes. Not bad for our first attempt. Had no clue what we were up for. Would we do it again? Absolutely! I highly recommend Escape Room for the “smarty-pants” out there or for something different, if you love to have your brains teased to the max or have fun with friends and family, then this is for you.
