With chocolate eyes that dazzle golden under the light, he scouts the forest. The canopy is thick above his head and shudders every few seconds when some creature hurriedly passes by. The trees' branches sway in the breeze, and he can almost hear their rumbling under the chirping birds. The ever-so-green grass is dank under his boots, and he can still smell the rain that ended just a couple minutes ago. The Sun, though, seems to have no recollection of that. He is as argent as always, here in the Violet Woods. The place is dazzling, alive, and crisp; far too different from his own home, but also far less foreign.
Graceful fingers reach for the periwinkle flowers just left from the tallest red oak, kissing their soft petals as he wonders where they are. Renjun is positive he's at the right place, and this is the right time. Noon, by the bush of forget-me-nots. He could only hope they hadn't misremembered this week's chosen spot. Knowing them, it's perfectly possible. Maybe he should head to the muttering roses, where they had met last week, and wait there instead...
Laboured breaths and feathery footsteps sound from behind him a second later, and he doesn't have to turn around to know it's them.
"You're late", he states, fierce gaze still burning in the flowers.
Renjun doesn't expect an apology, not really, but the mellow hand they lay on his shoulder is just as startling. Still kneeling, he twirls to face them at once, and he doesn't miss the dim look of urgency that paints their features.
"Y/N? What happened? Are you okay?"
They don't answer him. Instead, their lips curl into a small smile that Renjun supposes is meant to calm his nerves. It doesn't work very well, or well at all, and he stands up to his full height, holding their hand in his.
Both of their hearts beat loudly, wildly attempting to escape their ribcages. However, neither of them shies away from the proximity. Renjun and Y/N idly stand together for a second, basking in each other's warmth when they speak for the first time today.
"Father knows about you."
If the incoming information is anything short of shocking, he doesn't let it show. His keen, fox-like traits remain the same as he searches their eyes for something else—fear, rage, or any other emotion. Something that would tell him what to do now.
Nodding slowly, he gently squeezes their fingers, waiting for them to continue.
The way Renjun looks at them is enough to make Y/N's throat tighten in concern. From the palace, all the way over here, they've been trying to conceal it, but they no longer can.
It's freezing cold, even against the strings of sunlight that filter through the trees. Its' grip is vicious, instilling into their body a form of despair they had never felt before. It is the dawning realization that their little world is shattering, and there's little they can do to save it.
"...And he calls you a filthy mortal."
Somehow, Renjun finds it in him to snort. Out of all the things he thought they would say, that was certainly not one of them, but it makes him happy. After all those months, they still manage to catch him off-guard. Will they ever stop doing that?
"Aren't you elves so kind?" he laughs, lifting his other hand to gently flick at their pointy ears.
Y/N simply huffs, dodging his fingers and escaping from his hold to pace around the trees.
Watching them in silence, Renjun thinks their race truly is something else. Elegant, breathtaking, stunning, unmatched, perfect. Sharp edges give way to soft curves that make him question the existence of all deities. Should he turn his face in shame? Should he go down on his knees and beg for forgiveness over sins he didn't commit? Should he declare them as his one redemption and worship them until his breath forever ceases?
Sighing dreamily, he thinks he, too, would be an arrogant bastard if he looked anything like an elf.
"Don't put that on us, Renjun. You, humans, have a terrible tendency to destroy and foul the space you occupy" Y/N turns to him.
Placing their hands on their hips, they know they're falling into the usual routine: bickering about historical events between the two races until one gives up. That's how their rendezvous always begins, and they wouldn't have it any other way, but today something hovers in the air between them.
Doubts.
Renjun can't keep himself from speaking.
"He will banish you some time, Y/N. You know we can't keep this up forever."
He's right, and they know. Had it not been for the strands of sunshine dancing across their frame, they would have shivered. The thought of getting banished from their realm is terrifying. Y/N is still incredibly young for an elf—just over their 75 years—but they've lived enough to know how it goes for elves who get exiled.
For an elf, banishment isn't being outlawed from your homeland. That is most indisputably sad, and Y/N would cry about it for some time, missing nature's presence from her forests. Although that's not the part of the exile that frightens them: it's the loss of immortality, their lifelines cut too short from straying from their hearths.
Death is no friend of the elves, as everybody knows. The mere idea of perishing from disease or poison is strange to their minds, if not altogether catastrophic. It's not normal, as it is not natural. It's almost reason enough to stop Y/N from making her offer, but the pink haze in their eyes wouldn't allow them to.
"Run away with me then", they mutter, slowly closing the distance between them and the boy once again. Something in Renjun's eyes shifts, and his pink lips part to speak, but not yet.
"Protect me from the dangers of mortality. We could go south to the Cristalline Planes, Injun", Y/N stops in front of him. "Or, maybe even head west, since I know you've always wanted to see Wistful Shores."
Hope shines bright in their complexion, burning with such richness it nearly turns into despair. What they're doing is not asking—they're pleading, and Renjun nearly collapses to the ground at the honeyed tone in their voice. However, the glow of their fingers, smoothly tracing the shapes of his light robes, grounds him. Their touch is as delicate as the breeze, and it takes all of his self-control not to say "yes" right away.
"And let you give up on eternal life for me? That is possibly the most foolish decision I have ever heard of", he says, stoping their movements to lace his fingers between theirs.
For a moment, everything around the two of them stills and fades into silence. The woods are quieter than ever before, and even the tree's lullaby comes to a halt. Nothing exists out of their eyes, embedded deep into the others'.
His might just be Y/N's favourite thing in the whole entire world. The vibrant, sunny brown of his orbs reminds them of the goodness still left in mortals. They shimmer, sparkle and flicker with every bit of emotion Renjun feels, for they are too honest not to. It would be nothing short of a crime if they ever lied about his heart.
Y/N's are what he would describe as literal gateways. To where? Well, that, he will always argue. Some nights, when the stars are out, he could swear the entire universe is right there, before him. On other occasions, when what surrounds them are the glistening streaks of dawn, Renjun sees magic in its purest form. He could spend all of his life staring at them and still feel like there's too much left to explore.
"I don't think this foolish decision is yours to make, then", they decide, lightly squeezing his hands and glancing down to the ground. "I would rather live one more hour with you than one hundred lifetimes on my own."
There is a sharp intake in his breath as if a blade had buried itself deep in his stomach. It pains him just the same, he realizes. Hearing them say that and knowing they speak the truth brings tears to his eyes because he knows this is the point where he has to stop them. Stop them from wondering about the "what if's" and from asking that of him. Gods know if they ask again, he won't have the strength to decline.
"I, on the other hand, would like for you to live a very long, happy, fulfilling life," he remarks, hoping the shaking in his voice is not too evident. "And for that to happen, you can't be that much of an idiot, okay? Don't give that away for some human prince, Y/N."
"And what if that human prince is all I care about? What if he is my entire existence, and my one reason to sleep through the nights is to dream about him? What then, Renjun?" they challenge.
It's rare to see elves speaking in any way that is not moderate, light, but the fire in their voice is nothing like he's ever seen. It's the same anger that fuels them to pull him closer, resting their palms on his warm cheeks and wiping away the tears he didn't know have fallen.
"Then you must tell me what does that make me. What is this between us?" Renjun mutters, eyes closing with soft flutters. Guilt claws at his chest for not immediately putting an end to it but savouring the moment, feeling himself fall a bit deeper for the elf as each second ticks by.
"Love", Y/N simply states, sighing when his hands come together to hold the small of their back. "It's love."
"A part of me wishes you had not said that", he leans into their touch. "Had you said 'nothing' and stopped torturing me, my heart would have been broken, but I would have been fine. How can I be, now, when all you've just done makes me cherish you more?" he chuckles bitterly.
He knows what they're about to say, and he can't stand to hear it, so he continues talking, eyes indolently opening to scan their features.
"Things are different for us, Y/N. While you don't have to worry about succeeding the throne, that is my fate. To be a good ruler for my people when my own father dies. I can't leave them behind", Renjun breathes, hating the way their hopeful look melts into denial.
"You have a brother, you know? Leave him to rule. We've both seen what it's like to wear the crown, Injun", they grimace.
It is true. Being part of the royal family means you grow used to many horrible sights and dark secrets. He can't help but wonder what it will be like to live all of that and not have you to keep him sane.
Shaking his head to dissolve querying thoughts, Renjun attempts to focus on something else that is not them. It's dangerous to be that close, feeling their own ragged breaths fawning over his face. He is just one touch away from all he has ever wanted, but one touch away is still forbidden. In that one touch lies his downfall.
As if hearing his prayers, the wind blows stronger, running through his silken, dark locks and messing up Y/N's. It backfires, though. The urge he has to resist now is to run his hands through their hair, pushing away all of the wild strands that frame their face, and he curses. Nothing could ever make this any less difficult for him.
"If Chenle ever becomes king, I pity the people that will live under his hand."
He smiles, and Y/N realizes he must be attempting to make a joke. They wish they could laugh, but the conclusion behind his words hangs in the air. He won't change his mind, will he?
A sob leaves their body as suddenly as the tears come. Their vision turns misty, and the cold awareness that hits them is too much to manage. Wordlessly, Y/N falls to their knees, hugging their own body in attempts to calm the heartbreaking cries pouring from their lips. The pleasant spring evening turns cold and unforgiving, and the elf loses their bearings for a second, only to realize Renjun has dropped to the ground in front of them.
Neither of them dares to open their eyes when two bodies become one, and the only thing they know is each other. Fingers grasp at robes, armour and leather, and rough sobs blend together in utter heartbreak. Renjun pulls them so close he's not sure which limbs are his or whose tears he's tasting, but it hardly matters. This is where they end.
How much time they spend lost in each other's embraces is unclear. Neither Y/N nor Renjun knows, and they don't want to. Acknowledging time is dangerous here because it means accepting this moment won't last forever, and that is something they can't—won't do. It won't be so until they let it, right?
Wrong, and they know it. The Sun is going down.
When sobs have turned into whimpers and clutches have turned into caresses, Y/N takes the courage to pull away and look at him.
The prince's eyes are red and puffy, much like theirs, they imagine. His pale cheeks are stained with dry tears, and his pretty lips still tremble from the deep breaths. He doesn't meet their gaze until they call his name.
"Renjun", they call once more, admiring the blue hour lights shifting across his dashing features. "I—" Y/N gasps, and he's suddenly terrified of what they'll say. "I think maybe... maybe we should no longer meet. I can't bear to look at you and know you're not mine to take."
Just like that, his fears were confirmed. In his mind, he knows this is how it was supposed to go all along. This is for the best, he reminds himself, even if right now it feels like having your soul ripped to shreds.
"Don't say it like that, Y/N. I've always been, and I'll always be yours", he flashes a watery smile. "Perhaps just... in another lifetime."
The pain becomes too much to handle, and all they can do is close the space between them again. Their last and first kiss is salty, from the tears they both still shed and bittersweet, from the goodbye it speaks.
How poetic, they think, to say goodbye right by a bush of forget-me-nots. I'll surely never forget him.
"Go now", Y/N whispers as they part, "before I kiss you again and never let you go."
A heartbroken chuckle leaves his lips while he touches his forehead against theirs.
"Remember me, Y/N", he begs, slowly dragging them to their feet. "Remember me like this, young and well, learning what the flowers you mark our spots with look like. Always see me like this: grateful and completely in love with you."
"How could I not, my prince?"
And in truth, how could they not?
To say Y/N never forgot about Renjun is a misunderstanding. They never forgot about him, and they never stopped thinking about him either. His are every emotion they've felt. Every split of every second in every day of their life was and is dedicated to him. His smile is all they see when they close their eyes, and his laughter sounds right by their side whenever they visit the forget-me-not fields. He lived in all of the things surrounding them, and even in the name of that corner right by the tallest red oak: Prince's Lair.
Likewise, his very soul was bound to Y/N from the day they met to the day he died, still in reverence of how much devotion it is possible to feel for someone. He grew older and eventually found a family, yes, and he even went to war. His eyes held visions he would never wish for anyone to see, but they were still his first thought in the morning and the last one in the night when he allowed himself to weep for their lost future. He got to see the most distant borders of many kingdoms, and he got to meet people in all of them. Yet, no creature on this Earth ever compared to Y/N—his Y/N.
Even at the tender age of 18, Renjun was wise.
Aeons of praying upon the stars never changed their fortune, but maybe there is something else to their fates.
Y/N never stopped loving Renjun, and Renjun loved them until his days were over, but their paths never crossed again.
Perhaps in another lifetime.

better with time. Ch 1
a century of hell.
You are a titan shifting 25 year old woman who had been trapped in her titan body wandering Paradis Island for 107 years. Over the decades you finally grew the strength to break free of your weakened titan form, just as Captain Levi happened upon you during an expedition. (AO3)
Words: 1,953
How long has it been?
How many years?
Where am I again?
How did I get here?
These questions racked through your mind every day without fail. You were confused, scared, and tired. There weren’t many things you remembered from your life before, it wasn’t the happiest that’s for sure. The year was 743, you remember a vast body of water, that seemed to continue on infinitely, you got off of a ship, and in the next moment you were falling. Before you hit the sand below you were different, much larger than before, and you couldn’t control your movements.
You ran ahead along with the other titans watching in horror as humans were mauled and eaten whole. You couldn’t stop yourself, your body seemed to be under a sort of spell or compulsion that forced you to act violently. It tasted horrible, you wanted nothing more than to wake up from this nightmarish hell. But you were stuck, stuck for so many years you lost count of how long you’d been trapped and all shreds left of your humanity faded away into the darkness, along with any other precious memories.
60 years passed in this hell before you began to gain control over your new titan body. With this revelation came a wave of determination washing over you. You ran far away from civilization, far away where you came into contact with little to no humans. When you did see any you avoided them like the plague and they avoided you just the same, you were thankful. Little did they know you were a human just like them, fighting to survive.
The remaining years or torture were spent with you hiding away in a dense forest where you gladly starved yourself. Hidden away, safe from harm, your titan form weakened day by day. Every day was the same, you lay face down on the forest floor as the seasons changed above you. Dead leaves fell atop your body, later came the snow but your body stayed warm. When the snow melting flowers bloomed around you, spring time was one of the few things you enjoyed while in hell, daisy’s, wild flowers, and other weeds springing up all around you, blowing in the wind. The summer rains were harsh but soothing never the less, that is until they turned raging storms overhead. The thunder was frightening, but not as frightening as your titanic circumstances.
You counted the seasons as they passed but as the decades drew on you gave up on trying. You felt your body grow thin and frail, your bones shown clearly through the skin, you couldn’t lift your body now if you wanted to. It was summer now; you could tell by the sweltering heat on your nape. The heat was almost too much to bear, and in your efforts to move to the shadows you felt your real body twitch.
Your real body... twitched.
You gasped; your titan body must have become so thin that your human body was free to move. Maybe you could even break free and try to find some help. New found hope bubbled in your chest as you fought to free yourself from the titan’s flesh. Natural light began to filter into the cavity you were confined in for so many years.
Freedom, after so long its within reach.

The 58th Scouting Mission to the Forest of Giant Trees.
Scouts, in their haste to flee the forest in the 57th Scouting Mission left behind many valuable harpoon canons that were used to trap the Female Titan. This mission is to retrieve them. Led by Captain Levi the scouts set out to complete their mission, hopefully without incident. As the Scout Regimen reached the borders of the forest a peculiar sight caught their eye.
“I don’t think that titans moved an inch since the last time we were here.” Eren Jeager, commented. Armin noticed it too, it looked even thinner than it did a few weeks ago.
“Don’t get too close Eren.” Mikasa chided, pulling her horse in between his and the titan before them.
“Oi. Brats.” Levi barked gaining the younger scouts’ attention.
“Stop wasting time staring at that thing. We have a mission to complete.” He said, a bored look in his eyes. He wanted to be in and out of that horrid forest as quickly as possible and the sun was already set high in the sky.
Without another word, the scouts continued their trek into the forest to retrieve anything left from their last expedition. The work was tiresome, hours had passed and the sun was making its descent towards the horizon by the time they left the forest. No one died today, but a few titans did cause a bit of trouble for them. There was never a mission that went completely smooth no matter how much Levi wished for it.
On the way back to base, the Scouts took another look at your titan form. Steam now emanating from the flesh. Levi made sure to keep everyone at a distance, he was sure the titan couldn’t move but whatever was happening he had a bad feeling about it.
Levi drew his blades, sliding off of his stallion to saunter over to your weak titan, he stood atop its head as he watched something move beneath the skin. His eyes widened a fraction as he watched in shock as the flesh at the nape began to split on its own accord. Plumes of steam bellowed from the wound obscuring the scouts’ vision, Levi’s close vicinity aided him. He was the only one to see what happened next.
Something was inside, or rather, something was breaking free from the titan. More hot steam rose from the flesh wound as you lifted your head from the gash. Gasping for breath you opened your eyes and a trembling sigh spilled past your lips. Thick hot tears rolled down your cheeks, a look of pure bliss on your face. A man with onyx hair stood before you, a sharp blade pressed to your throat. Levi pressed forward, his blade causing a small nick on your flesh. The sting of pain made it all the more real for you. You were free at last.
Levi berated you with questions as your vision began to fade. His voice sounded muffled in your mind; you couldn’t quite make out anything he said before you were out cold. You were engulfed in a darkness once again, but this time, it was welcome. You fell limply backwards and as you did, Levi sliced the rest of the titan’s muscular attachments from your face and arms.
Noticing you were unconscious and thus, no longer a threat for the time being Levi came back to his senses. It finally registered to him the worried shouts from Armin on the other side of this wall of fog. Levi picked up your limp body, hoping down from the decaying corpse and walking slowly to the carts brought along for the expedition.
Emerging from the steam came Captain Levi, carrying you with an irritated scowl on his face. He handed you off to Reiner, a tall built man better equipped to carry someone bridal style.
“Put her on the cart, we’re heading back. Full speed.” Levi said and without another word the Captain was on his horse and riding away towards the base. Reiner and Bertolt gave each other confused looks before the remaining scouts hopped aboard their horses after having a look at you. Eren, Mikasa, and Armin caught up with their Captain quickly to bombard the man with questions.
Who are they?
They came out of the titan?
Are they from the walls?
“Oi! All I know is that she’s going straight to the holding cell in the basement when we get back. Erwin will ask questions later.” Levi barked, a headache forming in the back of his head. He wanted nothing more than to not ended up in this predicament today, but you were an unknown titan shifter. Thus, you were extremely dangerous and couldn’t go ignored.
In record time the Scouts arrived back at the base, and luckily just as Commander Erwin happened to be paying a visit, hoping to discuss reports with Hange Zoe.
“Commander. Shitty Glasses. You need to take a look at this.” Levi said, an unusually unnerving stare in his eyes. Without a word the two followed Levi to where you slept peacefully in the cart filled with equipment.
“Who’s this?” Erwin asked, his blue eyes scanning over your face with immense focus. Hange repositioned their glasses as they leaned over the cart to get a closer look.
“Get back. They’re a titan shifter we found in the Forest of Giant Trees.” Levi said as he pulled Hange back from your sleeping form.
“REALLY!?” Hange was just about vibrating with excitement and anticipation. They made quick work of scooping you up into their arms to take you inside, and in their haste, they knocked your head on the door frame. Levi rolled his eyes at Hange’s impatience and followed suite after dismissing the scouts to clean the base.
Erwin led them down to a cell in the basement of the base, handing off the key to Levi.
“She’ll stay here until she wakes up and explains herself. We’ll figure out the rest of the details then. I have business in the capitol, I’ll return as soon as you send word.” With a firm nod, Erwin excused himself from the base and on horseback he made his way to Wall Sina.
Levi explained to Hange your condition, and how he found you. He decided to watch you until you woke up from your sleep. Hange made sure to being drafting up a report on you in the meantime, trying and failing to have patience and wait for you to awaken before discussing any experiments they wished to try.
Three days later, you finally opened your eyes. You made a silent gasp as you sat up abruptly in your hard bed, your overgrown hair messy and falling into your face. You swiped the hair out of your way a felt over your face. You withdrew your hands from your face as you flexed your fingers flipped your hands over and over again, examining them. Normal human hands.
You snatched the rough sheets from your legs as your bent your knees and curled your toes. It’s been so long since you’ve seen yourself like this. You looked around your surroundings in the cell, and noticed a small hand mirror on the desk. You fell out of the bed in your haste to reach the desk and get a look at yourself. With trembling hands, you grabbed the mirror and held it up to your face. Slowly, you opened your eyes to look at yourself. Thick tears of joy rolled down the apples of your cheeks. You looked the same as the last time you saw yourself. You continued to poke and prod at your face, making sure this wasn’t some cruel dream when suddenly a deep grunt rang out in the darkness. A man clearing his throat sat cross legged outside of your cell with a thick book in hand and a small tea cup on the small table next to him. He marked his place in his book and uncrossed his legs before stepping closer to the bars that separated you both.
You gently placed the mirror down onto the desk before standing on your weak legs, backing yourself into the damp corner. You had your guard up, wary of the strange man and his icy stare.
Levi Ackerman finally broke the silence once again.
“Who are you?”

Hi there^_^ I've come up with a hc request: how would Quan chi, Frost and Kronika react when seeing their s/o being seriously injured? These three need more love. Have a nice day!
Since you asked for such underrated characters, I’m adding some of the other unloved ones at it! Everyone deserves loves, it doesn’t matter if they’re Ermac or even Kollector. Thank you for the request and hope you like it!
Ermac
- They all share the same body and love for a single person, the one who is able to catch Ermac many attentions is more than worthy of applauses. Ermac acts overprotective around their loved one, floating around like a ghost and silently watching over them.
- When their beloved falls in danger they’re the first to come for rescue, all the souls became fearful that something bad may happen to their S/O which means they must act together for it
- Ermac feels like if they failed towards their one true love, they are not concerned about what happened but about what can be done now. Immediately takes their S/O in their arms and flies away from the conflict, taking them to a healer while using their own magic to try helping them out himself if there is no healer avaliable
- After their S/O recovers from their wounds, Ermac tells them that they feel unworthy of their love if not even able to protect their S/O from harm, any kind of injurie that comes upon their beloved hurts even more at them.
Frost
- Having Frost in love is a hard thing but when it happens she won’t let anyone hurt her beloved, the ice queen promises to take care of them and even offers to serve as a scout if she feels there is danger coming for her S/O.
- When her beloved falls in danger her first thought is of slaughtering anyone who dares laying their hands at her S/O, she goes on rampage and kills all who hurted her loved one. She can’t help but feel anxious with the thought of losing someone she cares deeply.
- She carries her S/O carefully to a safe spot, taking care of the wounds with her cold touch to stop the bleeding, afterwards she takes them to the hospital, staying at the side of her beloved during all the healing process. She feels weak for not being able to protect them and is angry with herself for that
- After her S/O recovers she bursts in tears and hugs them, talking about how scared she was of losing them to death, it’s the first time Frost cries in front of someone and she doesn’t regret it. After the incident she acts in an overprotective way and is always aware of danger, she will never be able to rest again without her beloved at her side.
Kollector
- Awakening the interest of him is a rare thing, all he thought to care about was fortune, but no treasure he found could be more valuable than his S/O. Kollector gifts them with everything he thinks that may be useful, from trinkets to magic amulets and sharp daggers, he wants his beloved to be able to defend themselves when he’s not around
- When his beloved falls in danger he will not only kill anyone who dared to hurt them but also have their heads as a trophy. Kollector catches his S/O and has no time for thinking, he will use all the magic artifacts he has to try making them stable. Afterwards he takes them to the best medic that money can afford, leaving jewels and flowers at the side of his S/O bed while they’re in a deep sleep of recovery
- He feels useless to have let his most precious treasure fall in the wrong hands, will do anything to repay for what he believes to be his fault. He starts thinking of ways to keep his S/O safe and searchs about every kind of artefact that allows people to comunicate when in danger, that’s when he discovers the Earthrealm most powerful trinket; the cellphone
- After his loved one recovers he gaves them all the kind of gifts possible, takes them out for having their favorite foods and keeps asking if everything is okay, he will need a lot of self-reassurement after the incident to be able to forgive himself, Kollector becomes more clingy around his S/O because he fears to lose them and never wants to feel that terrible angsty of seeing them hurted again
Quan Chi
- The necromancer heart is a cold and rotten place, pretty much like his servants. But when someone is able to make it beat again it shall beat like the drum of drums, the one who makes his soul smile again is worthy of all the protection in the underworld. That’s why he gifts his S/O with an amulet to call them when in danger and have their location, not only because he’s kind of a jealous guy.
- When his beloved falls in danger he calls all the legions of the dead to go search for them, bringing his S/O to the Netherrealm extremely injured makes him want to cry but he holds it back. Quan Chi is not worried about death because he can always bring them back, but he’s worried about the pain his loved one is feeling and wants it to stop, the experience of death is not pleasant neither and he doesn’t want them to suffer it, he shall then use magic to heal them
- Quan Chi feels like something died inside of him, was him destined to be alone for all eternity? Death indeed followed his steps and the ones from his beloved too, he would never move on if his S/O died forever, he would never want them as mindless revenants or servants, he doesn’t want that light that shines in their eyes full of life to disappear
- After his S/O recovers he assures them that such thing will never happen again, promising to keep them safe and well. He creates a skeleton fighter that is inside a beautiful garnet ring, the minion may be summoned by his S/O when in danger and that makes Quan Chi more calm about their well being
Shinnok
- The fallen elder god should not allow his broken heart to guide his actions, but it has always been an issue to him. Falling in love means putting someone needs above yours and to him it’s not different, he wants his S/O to be happy even if it means he has to give up some of his plans. Gods love are much more deep and passionate than any mortal could ever imagine, their love is eternal and true to the core.
- When his beloved falls in danger he allows all the anger inside him to avenge them, by ripping off the souls of those who dared to hurt them and channeling it in a endless dismal suffering through all eternity as punishment. Shinnok shall gather his S/O in his cold deathly embrace and release them from the frail mortality, granting them eternal life at his side so that they shall nevermore be in pain
- Shinnok feels guilty to have condemned his beloved to eternity, but he knows that in the end it’s the best option and that they will understand him after all, he has a lot of plans for his S/O and wants them to be happy forever with him
- After his S/O awakes he has a lot to explain and tells them that it was his only choice left, he could not allow them to continue in such pathetic existence that risked their well being, no matter the reaction that his beloved has about it he will keep them at Netherrealm and only allow them to go when he’s sure they are able to defend themselves from all and every danger, but it would break his dark heart to have his S/O angered with his decision
Kronika
- The keeper of time never believed at the possibility of falling in love, but when she does so she brings all the versions from her beloved to her side, from past to future she shall have them all collected and merged into one perfect being, the only one worth of her love and adoration, which she becames more than overprotective about
- She has forseen that her S/O would be in danger and terrible injured in many timelines, she was tired of seeing them being tortured by pain through history and decided that the best option was to erase those who dared to hurt them, this way they would never have the chance to do it no matter the situation.
- By vanishing the existence of those who harmed her S/O, they are finally safe but not forever and she knows it, Kronika gaves immense power to her beloved being able to fight against anyone who could harm them, she’s the ultimate being and doesn’t measure efforts for protecting her one true love
- Kronika feels personally attacked by anyone who hurts her S/O, their enemies are her enemies too and so shall be until the end of the times. If her S/O is fond of revenge she will put their enemies in an eternal death loop so that they pay for their actions through eternity
Cetrion
- The avatar of virtue discovers her biggest flaw at her new found most precious feeling; love. By giving her heart to a mortal she allows herself to be vulnerable but accepts it as a small price for being at the side of her beloved. She shall not forgive those who defile the love of her eternal existence
- When her S/O is in danger she shall call upon the wrath of nature to punish those who are guilty, appearing as a spectre of light to guide her S/O through their pain, she heals them with her pure magic and allows them to rest at her garden of life at the heavens, while watching over their recovery
- Cetrion feels like she’s the one to blame for the danger that has fallen upon her loved one, taking her time to meditate and try to forgive herself for such carelessness. She prepares the whole garden for her S/O awaken, growing the most beautiful flowers they could have ever seen and creating fairies to take care of it for her, her garden is a sanctuary were few are allowed and the darkness never touches, it’s specially used for healing gods from extreme harm and enlightning the heart of those who are filled with doubt
- After her S/O recovers she receives them with a bright smile, laying at the soft grass with them, the grounds of her garden are more comfortable than any bed and more healing than any medicine. She assures that will never let them be hurted again and shall always look over them from above even that means being in danger herself

💜 This I Promise 💜
***
XLIII. Whole
***
It seemed that it was just another ordinary day.
(F/N) chose not to go to work that day. It’s not that she’s being lazy, no. The events that occurred a week ago took a toll on her well – being. She didn’t really remember much of what happened that day except for Kenny helping her to get up, but after that, she got really sick that she couldn’t get up from her bed.
Sometimes, Erwin would visit her, bringing her flowers and reassuring her that she would get better soon. They would have long, nonsensical conversations, and over time, she learned that the man known as the former Commander of the Scouting Legion was not so straight – laced or boring, after all. He made her smile, made her laugh, and made her feel better. She was happy spending time with him.
It seemed that it was just another ordinary day.
And it was on that day that she realized that there was something missing. It’s as if there was a hole in her heart that Erwin, himself, could never fill, despite all his efforts to make her happy.
(F/N) sighed and shifted uncomfortably on her bed. It was a really warm afternoon. The curtains weren’t drawn, despite Marie’s urging to let fresh air enter her room. She was still in her night gown, refusing to get up and change into a different kind of clothing. She just didn’t feel like it.
What’s wrong with me? She asked herself for the hundredth time that day, seeing that she couldn’t do anything to lift her own spirits up.
It was then that she heard noises just outside her room. She heard someone speaking in muffled voices and she actually heard a deep voice talking in response.
Oh, it’s Erwin. He has come to visit me again,… she thought,…
… but didn’t feel any excitement, at all.
The door slowly and quietly opened, as if the visitor didn’t want to wake the occupant up. She waited patiently for Erwin to greet her,…
… when a raven – head laid steel – blue eyes on her. Not blonde hair, not blue eyes,…
… it’s him.
Levi was a bit startled upon finding out that (F/N) was awake, fully expecting her to be asleep that time of the day.
Just like Erwin, he had been visiting her frequently. Although he chose times like these when (F/N) was surely asleep, he never failed to bring her gifts such as flowers or foods. He didn’t miss a single day. He was always there for her, despite her not knowing it.
So, his eyes actually widened upon seeing her awake. And he was never prepared for this moment.
But, if Levi wasn’t prepared for this, neither was (F/N).
Upon seeing him, her heart beat escalated into alarming heights. Her eyes felt like popping out of its sockets. Her fists decided to have a mind of its own by clenching the pure white sheets of her bed. She was clearly caught off – guard.
But, despite all that, she felt happy. It wasn’t just any kind of happy.
She felt complete. Whole.
So, it was you who was missing. She thought, then smiled at him. This gesture clearly surprised Levi.
“Well, are you going to stand there all day?” she joked, her voice still a bit hoarse.
“Oh! I – “ Levi muttered, entered the room, and closed the door behind him.
He’s stuttering again. It’s so cute.
For a few moments, he just stood there, not knowing what to do in this kind of situation. His time spent with Petra in similar locations were so different that he felt like a total piece of shit in front of such an innocent girl. Well, he had been an ass, so he knew he deserved all the embarrassment he was receiving from this torture. Of this torture of being in the presence of the girl he respected so much.
Of being with this girl he had learned to love without such lust, or blemish.
And as he looked at her angelic form on that large bed, he can’t help but feel that his soul was slowly burning with all the sins that he committed against her. He felt that he was slowly being punished. He instantly felt that he didn’t belong here.
He didn’t know what to do!
But, she changed all that with another smile.
“I’m sure that my fever isn’t contagious, Mr. Shunerman.” She said in a sing – song voice. “I’ am fully aware that you would not drop dead just by coming here near me.”
“No! It’s nothing like that. I – “
Ah, there with the stuttering again,…
“Oh! It’s not the fever, isn’t it?” she joked, theatrically clutching her chest like she was in total pain. “It’s my state of uncleanliness, isn’t it? Oh! I knew it! My heart, it hurts! It burns! Ah!” she hilariously, yet successfully, mimicked a person in a dying state. The sounds she made and the way she looked made Levi smile. Again, she was showing him another side of her he was not aware of.
“You’re not unclean. I’m telling the truth.” He said to her.
“Come here.” She said to him, gesturing for him to sit at the edge of her bed. He did so, still cautious of their positions and the fact that they were alone inside a room. He’s still supposedly a engaged man, he must not do anything to raise the suspicion of others. And above all, he must not break Marie’s trust towards her. She wants him to help her get her memories back, not let Erwin win her.
But, how could he do that, when he’s fully aware that she’s just going to remember all the bad things he did to her in the past? How could he help her when he’s fully aware that they’re both happy now as they were without her memories?
How could he when things are going good between the two of them?
He knew he must do his duty,…
… but, how?
“Are you okay?” (F/N) asked him, her head tilted just a bit. “You don’t seem well.”
Levi snapped out of his reverie and looked at her, surprised that she’s actually asking him if he’s okay, when she’s the one lying in bed.
“I’m good, but how about you? I’m worried,… about you,…” he let his sentence hang like that. Clearly, he didn’t really know how to have proper conversation with women.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Shunerman. I’m okay now, now that I saw you – “
(F/N) suddenly bit her lip. It was as if the words just slipped accidentally from her mouth.
But, nonetheless, he was happy to have heard that from her.
He smiled and handed her a single – stemmed tea rose he found in Shunerman’s garden. She took it and inhaled its sweet scent, its petals softly and gently brushing against her little nose. She blushed and smiled, closing her eyes and letting the scent overcome her senses. She received a lot of bouquets from Erwin containing different kinds of lovely flowers, but there was always that single – stemmed tea rose lying solemnly on her bedside table. Receiving the same thing from Elvis made her realize it was him who had been giving her that same flower, and not Erwin.
So, he had been visiting me, after all,…
“You are so unfair!” she suddenly said to him, her little lips forming a very disappointed pout.
“W-what?!” Levi uttered, taken by surprise once more by her swaying moods.
“You have been visiting me, and you’re not even waking me up! How unfair could you get?” and now, she looked as if she was on the verge of tears.
“Be reasonable, young lady! I want you to take a good rest so you could recover quickly.” Levi rebuked, not knowing what else to say aside from the very first things that formed inside his head.
But, she only laughed at what he said to her, adding to the discomfort he was experiencing.
“That’s – that’s called flirting.” She announced, wiping a single tear from her eye. “Lady Delilah taught me that.” Slowly, she turned her eyes towards him and regarded him seriously now, the rose still in her hand. “She said it’s a necessary tool for every lady to learn for the Winter Season. Do you – do you think it’s even that necessary? Why do I even have to flirt with strangers? To get myself a rich bachelor? Don’t you think it’s weird, the way nobles interact with each other? It seemed all fake, I hate it.”
(F/N) looked down at the rose and started twirling it with her fingers.
Levi just nodded. Honestly, he loved how she was very frank and honest with the things around her.
“You don’t have to do it, if you don’t want to.” He simply said to her. “I’m sure no one would hate you for that.”
She glanced at him once more. “Really?”
“Yeah. You’re just being yourself, after all. No one would hate anyone for just being honest. I mean, look at me.”
She smiled at him. “Yeah. You’re not very gallant, are you, My Lord?”
“I’m an asshole, My Lady. A total and hopeless piece of shit.” Levi said with that very handsome, devilish smirk of his.
(F/N) laughed at this. She liked how he was being honest with her.
Yes, honesty. It was the thing that most probably drew her to him in the first place.
She hoped all guys were honest, just like him.
“Now, I see why Miss Jacqueline fell in love with you.” She told him. “Where is she?”
“Business.” He told her. Well, it was the truth.
But, that - ?
“My Lady?”
“Yes, My Lord?” she said, the title she called him was merely in jest.
“What if I told you that I’m not really engaged with anyone, would you go out with me in the Winter Season?” he said, trying to test the waters.
And she answered truthfully.
“Of course. I don’t see any reason not to. Besides, I actually prefer you than those nobles here in Sina.”
“Even Erwin?”
“Yes!”
Levi’s eyes widened in surprise. On the other hand, (F/N) felt she said something she shouldn’t have. A few seconds later upon that realization, she skin turned a bright shade of crimson. She clenched the fragile rose, almost breaking it. She quickly ducked underneath her sheets in total embarrassment.
“I shouldn’t have said that!” She whined, her voice muffled by the heavy sheets. “Oh, you must think I’m a very sinful woman now,…”
That was being sinful? Levi thought with a smile as he crept closer towards her, trying to remove her sheets away from her.
He was happy that he somehow got the answer he wanted to hear from her.
“You’re not sinful, (F/N). Look at me.”
(F/N) felt the sheets being taken away from her. Her skin crawled with the sudden loss of protection. She opened her eyes and noticed how Elvis’ face was just inches away from hers. She blushed even more at the sight, making Levi think that her fever was returning.
He held out a hand. (F/N), thinking that he was going to hit her, closed her eyes and braced herself. But, instead of pain, she felt his hand gently touching her forehead.
“You’re hot. You need to get some rest.” He whispered to her, the sound of his deep voice tickling not only her ears, but all of her sensitive nerves. He was about to leave when the girl grabbed a fistful of his clothing.
“Please! D-don’t leave me,…” she said shyly. She looked at him with pleading eyes. “Stay.”
Levi turned back to her and placed a rough, yet gentle hand on top of her head. He started ruffling her hair with a very affectionate look in those blue eyes.
“Alright, I’ll stay. But, promise me that you’ll eat something first before I leave.”
“I promise,…”
***
Petra and (F/N) waited patiently amongst the crowd. The Scouting Legion was about to leave the town.
And among them, (F/N) saw a dark – haired man on top of the darkest stallion she had ever seen. Beside him were two more people, one a teenage girl with unruly brown hair, and the other a blonde young man who seemed about the same age of the dark – haired man. The brown – haired girl looked very vivacious while the blonde man looked really calm and composed.
On the other hand, the dark – haired man seemed to look very suspicious. It’s as if he doesn’t want to be in this expedition. Or he doesn’t want to be in this place, period.
But, then, those steel – blue eyes,…
It looked as though it was hiding a lot purpose for being in this wretched place.
“Petra, look at that man.” She said to her sister, tugging at her sleeves while pointing at the said man.
"What about it?” Petra just muttered, her eyes busy scanning the Scouts in search of her favorites, Erwin Smith and Mike Zacharius.
“He looks like new a recruit. I’ve never seen him before. Petra!”
“What?!” Petra almost screamed until she finally laid eyes on the man.
Her eyes suddenly grew wide.
“Y-yeah. He is new.”
“And the other two.”
“I wonder,…” began Petra, suddenly becoming less giddy as she looked at the three unknown people, especially that man with the dark hair.
“What?” (F/N) asked.
Petra looked at her and smiled. “Oh, nothing. Just spacing a bit, is all.”
Little did she know that it would be that same man who would become her first everything; her first Captain, her first partner, her first love, her first,…
Little did she know that it would also be that same man she would betray and cheat on,…
Little did she know that she would be the cause for that man to hurt the one and only person for him,…
… the only person,…
… who truly loved him.
Not because of what he is,…
… but for who he is,…
