I've always felt that it'd be Killua who initiates the first hug we see between him and Gon
#i have my reasons for this#i feel like i'm in the minority though... i know gon is honest and much more emotionally expressive#but he's not actually more tactile than killua#i... i actually do think that it's killua who initiates much of the contact between them (fistbumps and poking and hand on shoulder)#if i'm not mistaken anyways#and he's very tactile with alluka and nanika (carrying + hugs + handholding)#granted that's his sister(s) but still. killua is far from touch averse - his getting embarrassed is a cute trait to be sure#but i do think he'll get a bit better at accepting that kind of thing once he's had some time with alluka and nanika#a lot of that does come after all from his feelings of unworthiness - and now that his sisters need open affection after so long being alon#he's going to have to gain at least some comfort with giving and receiving love#gon and mito go for hugs either at the same time or mito initiates. gon hugs leorio in the scene right after he's revived#but idk idk i just feel like he won't be the first to initiate a hug with killua especially since i suspect he still feels quite guilty#i think it would show growth on both their parts. not to mention it'd be very sweet to have gon a bit blindsided + happily surprised#as he's the one typically honest and forthright with appreciation and compliments while killua is. not. lmao#i think he should receive a nice hug from his best friend. and then i think they would both know it's gonna be ok. :')#storyrambles#hunter x hunter#hxh#killua zoldyck#gon freecss#this is so sappy. what's wrong with me. this is what they do to me.#random thoughts

but also makes me think that in more usual circumstances, when the dean turned vampires like carmilla and mattie, that shes really nice at the start to temper any of that unruly anger

#welcome caller#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#I thought this was okay! a sweet romance and exploration of mental health and friendship#It does feel quite young for a book about characters in their 20s; the plot and writing feels very similar to a lot of YA contemporaries.#But also I get that being queer/trans/adhd and having a unsupportive parent can mean people experience#teen narrative kind of things when they’re in their 20s. etc#it’s pretty cheesy; the plot is very transparent (and at times a little frustrating that They Haven’t Realised Yet)#and i feel like the not telling him at the end was a bit too drawn out (i get bad mental health exacerbates that but like…..)#but if you’re looking for a mostly-cute low stakes neuroatypical romance maybe check it out idk#also: ace lesbian side character; nice surprise for me! (just mentioned once but she’s his best friend)#ohhh the experience of being a picky eater and figuring out what a normal amount of things to remove from your burger order is#and which ones you just pick out yourself after. yeah i relate to that one#as a side note the MC looks asian to me on the cover.....? he's white

also i got lots and lots of compliments on my outfit today and they were able to fix my necklace! i only wanted the big knot out but they fixed the other ones for me too and even cleaned it and for some reason they didn’t even charge me !! and i got my book ! yayyy

#rambling a lil but i'm finally watching atla all the way through and i gotta say i wasn't expecting katara to surprise me the way she has#like. she's in the role of the Nice Girl that the Nice Guy gets and settles down with right? like. that's what kataang is#but she herself as a character is soo much more interesting. she's nice sure but she's not a pushover by any means#and i like that she kinda delights in being bad every now and again. like idk why this seems to get missed in the fandom stuff i see?#like she can be MEAN when she wants to be and that makes for an interesting contrast to her naivete and ruthless optimism#the other romance subplots she gets are interesting too. like the jetara subplot is a lot deeper than some ppl give it credit for i think#like. it's the first infatuation katara has with a boy (which is very cute of her and i like how she's kind of a dork about it)#and jet really does care about her but he fumbles BADLY bc of his consumption with revenge#and this parallels really well with the katara-zuko dynamic revolving around ideas of connection and revenge and forgiveness#(i'm counting this as a romance subplot bc it kinda reads as being teased that way to me)#these are just some of my thoughts on her but yeah katara is a fantastic character
