I've always wanted to try doing a comic. Do you have any advice for a beginner who's never drawn comics? any mistakes you made that you learned from or just tips?
similar to making a video game and an animated series, don't jump into a massive project right away. practice a bit with smaller, shorter and simpler stories. really allow yourself to refine your work and your writing
if you ever plan on working on an official series, make an outline. seriously, this is so obvious but so many new writers dont create one. they just have an ending and a few key moments planned and think its enough
you will learn, very quickly how annoying backgrounds are. dont be afraid to cheat and use 3D assets to make the workload easier on yourself.
when it comes to design, be sure to draw characters you're fine with drawing over and over again. that really detailed tattoo looks cool on a cover, but how do you feel about redrawing it 5 times in one page?
paneling is a very common thing i see artists disregard when they make comics for the first time. it should be pretty readable (like i love jojo's bizarre adventure but my god its like araki wants to straight up confuse his readers)
dont over explain, let your art speak for itself. your readers are smarter than you think, and gestures and expressions can convey enough.
do cheats. not every panel needs a background. zoom in on the face. copy and paste characters and backgrounds, this one seems obvious but i know a lot of artists are afraid of being seen as lazy. value your physical health over some guy online complaining about you being lazy

1 year ago I discovered Linked Universe!!! 🥳🥳🥳
And I discovered one of the most incredible things I've ever seen on the Internet, which is this amazing fandom. I would never have imagined that there would be so much talent in one single site, or that I would see the things I've seen. Or read. I'm so glad to have joined and you can assume that yeah, I'll be around here for MANY more years.
I would also like to highlight the things I liked the most, that have made me love this site even more. Fics like This is an Adjuration by @not-freyja, which is the most impressive thing I've ever read in my LIFE, seriously. Blood drops on roses by @hotcheetohatredwastaken, which was the first fic I found here that REALLY had me on the edge of my seat, and that made me instantly fall in love with the way it was written. Artists like @la-sera, whose drawings literally always make me think "MAN, this was drawn by a person???? It's so perfect omgggg!!!!". And the same goes for @kikker-oma 's art, I always wonder how the lighting and the characters are SO well made. Or artists like @wolfy1298 and @gia-d, whose art I use A LOT as a reference because I absolutely love their styles, they're super cuteeeeee (i wish my art looked like theirs, honestly). Also, every time Jojo gives us an update, I love seeing other people's reactions and analysis, and since the very first day that i'm around here I always look forward to @luna-lovegreat 's ones, because they always surprise me and I enjoy them a lot.
If nowadays I'm learning how to draw digitally and posting my art, it's thanks to all of these people and this fandom without any doubt.
And lastly but not less important, if it wasn't for Tumblr I wouldn't know @the-stars-ar3-with-us, my dearest mutual and my best online friend 🩷
MAN this took longer than I expected 😳 sorry for the long paragraph... Well, just wanted to say that I'm so glad to have joined here a year ago, and to tell everyone I tagged that I appreciate you so much. Even if I'm too shy to talk directly to most of you, you matter and you inspire me a lot.
I wish you all a very great day 🫶🏻
#hope i didn't make any grammar mistake#i'm not very good writing this type of messages😅#or writing in general XD#1 year tumblrversary#tumblr milestone#linkeduniverse#linked universe#lu fandom

Colored warm-up drawing of Moonstone. I really like this character a lot, but this is the first time I've ever drawn her, because she's never had a costume that I've liked much at all. I might play around with designing one, hmm hmm hmm.

It's hard to develop my own art style, but I think I've finally made some progress (EXCITING!!!).
I drew Pol first, with the least deftness and patience so his eyes, nose, and EVERYTHING is wierd. He looks like a bad guy right now. I'm truly feeling sorry for him, and I truly adore him lol. Next time I'll redraw him with all my love.
Kak, my favorite character in the entire JJBA universe, was the second. I've been drawing him all the time so I was kinda confident with this one, but it turned out that I messed up his hair... and his nose, and EVERYTHING. It's time to do some research on Kak's hair style.
Then Jot, my favorite Jojo. I definitely did much better this time! His neck looks unusual but it's not the point I was focusing on! And I really enjoyed drawing him without hat. He is like Johnathan somehow. Maybe I'll never put his hat back - just kidding.
Then Avdol, with the most details (love his earrings so much) and patience. His eyes are not sysmetical (none of them - and human - has a symetrical face anyways), but his nose is the best one I've ever drawn. Congradulations!
Last, Joseph, my second favorite Jojo, drawn with the shortest time. I tried to make him look more like Jot, but... Never mind, at least they have eyes of the same color. I didn't know how to draw beard and wrinkles, and I wasn't sure how he should be like without hat. Nonetheless I'm still proud of myself.

If you don't mind me asking, could you tell me about DIO and how he became your favourite? I'm curious!
you know what that's a really good question and i wish i had a clear answer but it kinda just happened lmfao. there was some process to it that i can easily narrow down though and i will gladly dive into it and try to explain it because you KNOW i'll take any chance to talk about god damned DIO lmao
im gonna try to make this as coherent as possible but please bear with me, i'm pulling an allnighter and am currently in the 24th hour of awakedness so lmao
ok first; initially kakyoin was actually my favourite for a while, and after a while i'd say i like them the same, but we all knew. we all knew i was a dirty little liar. i have 4 kakyoin figures. i have a DIO shrine. i wrote several analyses of DIO. my god damned phone background is DIO. idk who i was trying to fool lmao
the funny thing is that before i watched jojo i actually fucking hated DIO lmfao, there was a blog here that posted undertale quotes and i really enjoyed it, but then one day the blog decided to just start posting 'you expected x but it was me, dio' memes and it was extremely unfunny and annoying and i hated it and i hated him lmfao
then i watched jojo with my friend and i just thought DIO was funny in like a fucked up way, mind you i watched the dub which made him extra funny with the british accent
i "liked" him but more like as a joke. i did really enjoy just the sheer extent of how vile he was though, making a mom eat her own baby is still one of my favourite fucked up things i've ever seen a villain do. it's the way he had fun with being absolutely reprehensible that made him so much fun to watch. i love when villains are fun.
having seen him in parts 1 and 3 i still kinda liked him as a meme and eventually as like, "i hate that i like him lol"
but like, then i've seen the OVA, and DIO spoke with andrew chaikin's voice in the dub and i was just kinda uh 😳
because like andew chaikin's freaking DIO voice???? hi hello??
also just in general how DIO is in the ova... his design and animation are fucking stellar and he was just a freaking delight to watch, but his voice made him particularly comforting to me.
so yeah it was the ova. the ova is to blame for all of this.
i do feel a need to mention because this is something that would make me super uncomfortable if people misunderstood it, but as i am aro/ace, my love for DIO is not of a romantic or sexual nature at all. i'd describe it more as like.. adoration? i see him as a muse and a comfort character.
the reason i actually really started liking DIO so much and why i consider him a comfort character is because he turned out to be just.. amazingly, delightfully comfortable to draw. i enjoy drawing him so much. i've drawn him 128 times and plan to draw him many more times. i think my art has improved immensely just from how much i've drawn him, especially when it comes to more muscular bodies, which i really didn't enjoy drawing before.
he's so incredibly fun to draw because he combines this macho huge body with fashion and elegance and beauty, and drama and evil and danger and egypt and vampires. there's always something about him that's gonna inspire me to draw another piece of him. i haven't had an art block since i started drawing him (though worth noting is that my mascot Luv has also been a top notch fighter against art block; him and DIO are my main muses to always keep me drawing and experimenting and creating new approaches)
I also think DIO is a hugely interesting character, as it's apparent by how much i've written about him in the past. i think his motivation is so messed up and convoluted and interesting because yeah a fucked up vampire who's been isolated underwater for 100 years would probably not exactly be a stable and rational person lmao
to me as someone with social anxiety, the fact that his main goal is to achieve peace of mind is also really interesting. uh, spoiler for stone ocean here so im gonna cross it through so people won't accidentally catch a glimpse of it but, ok firstly i think DIO's plan was absolutely batshit and definitely not the right thing to do LMAO, but i love that he literally wants to change reality to know what's gonna happen next, because not knowing things in advance is preventing him from achieving his peace. like im not saying i relate to DIO because i really don't, but as someone who's been very familiar with anxiety, it's really interesting to see that as a villain's motivation (also might as well mention i don't think DIO has anxiety, i think it's more like frustration over lack of control with him, also he's a huge paranoic)
i want to also talk about his philosophy that i genuinely love so much, and that is the concept of gravity as he means it on that famous panel. DIO's idea of gravity is a very zen concept, it's the idea that fate will bring you where you need to be, fate will make you meet the people you need to meet, etc. as someone who struggles with anxiety, that is a really compelling idea to me, which helped me overcome stressful situations long before i got into jojo. of course i do understand that to some people the idea of a predetermined fate can be terrifying and tbh i totally get it, but for me, when it comes to anxiety-inducing situations, the idea of "gravity" has helped me be less stressed. it's a very interesting concept and i love that it's something that's so deeply ingrained in DIO's philosophy. (PS just so you know whenever i say DIO's plan was a good idea i am joking 100% of the time, i would not want to live in the world he wanted to create. however, it's funny to say DIO was thinking of us socially anxious folks so im gonna keep saying it lmao)
you know, it's also really funny that like.. DIO ended up being such a massive beloved comfort character of mine, because like up until him, i generally got attached to characters who were very Good and Wholesome lmao. tfw the two characters that served as the most important comfort characters for me in my life were DIO and......... Papyrus from Undertale LMAO
they are almost polar opposites, but what they both have in common is that they are both very confident, and i'd say that while characters who doubt themselves are generally those i personally relate to, characters who are confident are the ones i gravitate towards for "support". Papyrus has been a character who i honestly hold single-handedly responsible for helping me turn my life around and just.. had an amazing impact on my mental health. i dont want to know who i'd be today if i never got into undertale.
with DIO, i feel like part of the reason why im so joyous and loud about how much i love him and why im so open about how much fun im having enjoying his character so much is because if i were to meet this character back then, when i was in college or in high school, i would never allow myself to enjoy this. i think that to me, DIO being such a huge comfort character represents like... something? i can't quite put my finger on it, but i feel a certain kind of pride and freedom about it because i know i overcame something in these past few years, and that i am much better and happier for it in every aspect.
i am very much a person who gets deeply attached to things or characters that i associate with positive changes in my life. because i've been at such a low point once in my life, i cling to things that remind me of how far i've come.
im just like.. really happy to be here as i am and DIO somehow became a deeply ingrained part of that.
#or at least he will become a deeply ingrained part of it once i get that tattoo i scheduled to get in june next year lmao#jamble ramble#dio brando#about me

Robbie as Bullock
This post will probably differ from the others in structure and be a lot longer for one big reason
When choosing Miraculous for the Lazytown characters i really wanted to only use ones that we've already seen in use in Miraculous Ladybug and know how they work from there.
For Robbie i broke that rule. I don't really remember what first made me consider it but it probably had to do with the fact that i think the Ox Miraculous, just aesthetically, would fit Robbie perfectly!
So for this one i had to start from scratch completely, no reference for a canon hero design, no idea what power or weapon he'd get, no clue what the phrase to transform could be.
Of cause i used the most references for him but here are the ten i found most important
Obviously i don't expect any of my speculations to become even remotely canon once we find out what Stompp, the Ox Miraculous, actually does but i hope it at least makes sense for now.
I like how I've drawn all the others standing head on to face the camera and Robbie just leans there. That's because you have to think he doesn't care, the little Tsundere
Concept Overview:
In the Miraculous Ladybug episode we meet all the Kwamis, including Stompp, he is the most actively concerned about Nooroo so now that the Butterfly Kwami is back I'm sure Stompp would want to stay around him. With Sportacus partnering with Nooroo, teaming up Robbie and Stompp made the most sense to them.
Design Notes Incoherent Thoughts I had to justify what I'm Drawing:
Purple and Blue - it amused me no end that with the choices i made blue Sportacus got a purple Kwami and purple Robbie got a blue kwami. I did kinda dislike at first how little blue the costume has in comparison to purple but i decided i don't have to make a decision because apparently the canon show can't make up its mind about Stompp's colour either. The blue and purple can always be swapped if i decide i don't like it
Harness - Ox' are hard working animals, mostly used to pull heavy objects. For that purpose they get strapped into a harness. Obviously i had to include that in this design, the chain hanging from the collar around his neck has a similar purpose (it only occured to me way too late how kinky it looks please ignore that)
Cape? No cape? - because of the imbalance in colours i briefly considered giving him a cape like a Matador would have but only for a second or so. I wanted to keep Robbie's iconic body shape untouched by a bunky cape, also the few times he wore a cape in the show he really struggled with it and also i think it would've clashed with the tail
Tail - speaking of which, an ox' tail has that frizzy end to it but i really liked the chain as his tail so to emulate the thicker part at the end i hung a padlock there. And that really worked. Not only bc that's just how bulls and ox are kept in check with their strength but also because the oblong shape of a combination lock makes for a fitting shape and can be used in universe. You see, Robbie is not that good with just saying what he wants or expressing how he feels. This four letter combination lock is magic and kinda betrays and helps him at the same time. It spells out any given four letter word that fits his mood best at any given moment
Miraculous Nosering - if a Lazytown character would unironically get a nosering, it'd be Robbie. I'm sorry, i don't take criticism on that
Horns - he needed horns. He just did. Look how good he looks with horns! But for real, in Miraculous Ladybug Chat Noir gets actual cat ears so he can get actual horns, also like Chat he the white parts of his eyes turn yellow like Stompp's while keeping his signature grey iris
Hair - ox' are mostly shown with like bangs covering their eyes so i couldn't resist ruffling his usually so perfectly done hair up to make it fall a little like that
Weapon - my first thought of "Miraculous takes cliché traits for animals to base their powers on so i guess bullfighting is the way to go here" made me really sad. This "Sport" is so disgusting i wanted to cry and puke while reading about it. I'll spare you the details but in addition to the Matador in the arena there's other guys too to weaken the bull before the Matador kills it, one of them throws knives. Miraculous Ladybug likes combining weapons with toys so I'm giving him darts. They are fastened to the front of his harness and i think how they can be used is along the lines of, once he zhrows them with his super strength and they pin into something they can only be removed when he allows that, also like the ladybug's jojo they can fly how long and whatever direction he wants, and probably also is able to just manifest them back to himself if ever one gets lost
Miraculous Power - again, just pure speculation here, but the powers we so far know of are all loosely based on an exaggerated cartoon trope of each animal so for the ox that is hard working and persistent and for the bull that'd be aggression and tunnel vision. While typing this i get the urge to add blinders to his mask but i digress. So i made up an exaggerated power that'd fit both but when i told my test group (two people) one said "oh, kinda like Bloodhound from Apex Legends" and the ozher said "so like hunter's mark from DnD" i play neither so i don't know but maybe you do do that's the short version of the explanation xD his power is based on the cartoonish depiction of a bull seeing something that bothers him and then charging at it for as long as he can until he gets it. Once Robbie focuses on an enemy or someone running away or someone he is following for whatever reason he can use his power to keep track of them. No matter how far away they go or where they try to hide. It sounds OP as shit but think of the Snake and Bunny who can both time travel and then say that again. The catch is he needs to use it while that person is still in clear sight for him so i think it balances a little better
Name:
Do you know the difference between a Bull and an Ox? Well, let me mansplain it to you anyway
The reason i kept switching between drawing inspiration from bulls and ox' is because it's the same animal. Those are both names for an adult male cow. The only difference being that an ox is castrated and a bull is not. Stompp is the Ox Miraculous so tough nuts Robbie, literally. But making babies isn't really on his to do list anyway with Sportacus as his partner so who cares.
Anyway, I had the design done and like always i struggled a lot with naming it
But then i learned a Bullock is not only a cool word that seems to be a mix of bull and lock like his design is but it also is the official name of a male cow too young to be castrated yet! Isn't that just perfect? I think it is
Also I'll include in this section the phrases one needs to speak to have Stompp transform them into this Ox themed Superhero and for the power to activate. If you think of something more fitting for either please let me know!
Transformation:
simple version - horns up / horns down
More detailed - time to charge / time to loaf
(charging is when a bull starts running blindly at something; loafing is the professional farmer term for a resting cow)
Power: Target Charge, Locked On, or my personal favorite option Head-On. Again going with the more in depth terminology, that's what the running style of a bull is called when he's chatging at a target
Story:
Robbie lived in Lazytown but when the kids grew louder and older and he got more annoyed wih not having his peace and quiet he just up and left. He spent a lot of time traveling around, living wherever it was comfortable and leaving when it wasn't anymore. Thanks to being an inventor and overall talanted crafty person he got by pretty easily as there was always a company running on "hire a lazy person for an important job, they'll find the easiest solution for the most complicated problems" so he never really had to worry.
Whether by coincidence or fate Robbie and Sportacus run into each other and despite Robbie being a little difficult they both immediately feel strangely drawn to one another. With time going by they meet more often, at first more or less by chance but eventually they plan to meet up regularly. They might have very different ways of doing it but they share a common lifestyle: helping out others to live a comfortable and fulfilling life.
Only after Sportacus was chosen to be the new Guardian of the Miracle Box he finally asks Robbie to join him, full time by his side traveling in his airship around the world wherever they may be needed. Of cause only for moral support and such, obviously. You see, they always enjoyed each others company and sort of over time eased into a relationship like coexistence but neither of them ever really acknowledged that. Only when Sportacus got Nooroo's power to sense other people's feelings that barrier of miscommunication fully fell. Robbie is incredibly bad with conveying his emotions but now Sportacus can sense that he has potentially the most powerful and purest emotions he ever encountered. Not only is each feeling of his powerful but when there is more than one at play they don't mix together and muddy each other but instead boost even more. He knew before that he wanted Robbie to join him but that discovery made it a necessity.
Despite not being able to actually say so Robbie is thrilled to come along. Only over time and with a lot of painfully slow conversations they manage to agree to make their relationship official.
Stompp, the sassy Ox Kwami, regularly bursts out of the Miracle Box to want to check on Nooroo and slowly he and Robbie bond over telling Sportacus and Nooroo to go easier on themselves and let a little responsibility get taken off their shoulders so eventually they team up and Bullock is created.
Thanks to Robbie's hard work to better himself with Sportacus' help, Stompp's magic transformation provides him with a tail that conveys his feelings for him.
When they hear that Lazytown has been wiped clean of grown-ups Sportacus immediately flies them over there so Robbie can check on his hometown. Finding only a few children, now teens, left there Robbie recognizes them and the two form the plan to give them Miraculous' too so they can help to find their lost family, friends and neighbors and fight together to bring them back.
Wow that was so much to read and you did it! I'm so impressed and thankful! You deserve a pat on the back (if you want one) and a cookie and/or sportscandy on your way out

Hey girl, how u doing? I'm sending you this ask bc I think I can trust your judgement on it, you seem to be quite an expert on the matter lmao I've been thinking on jumping aboard JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's boat, but idk anything about it whatsoever. Why do you think it's worth watching it and where should I start? Thanks babe
Literally me when someone mentions/asks about JoJo’s. Like, without fail:
Also, I’m gooood. Hope you’re having a nice day as well, Anon! 🖤 (:
I’m, admittedly and unashamedly, total JoJo’s trash, but I think I can say it’s SO worth it without a terrible amount of bias because I hated the little bits of it I did see, originally - it took actual years for my friends to convince me to watch it. That, and I’m not as big an anime fan as people seem to think I am. Especially newer stuff that released past like ~2003-2005. I also tend to not like shows that will freely kill off the major and supporting characters left and right, but I still love it (which is a once in a blue moon event for me, personally).
As for not knowing anything about JoJo’s: That’s kinda the best part. You don’t need to read the manga first to enjoy the anime, and it doesn’t start making a whole lot more sense once you do watch it. That’s what makes it so fun! It’s just really prettily drawn people in even prettier-yet-questionable outfits punching the absolute stuffing out of each other, with some heart wrenching moments that will make you bawl thrown in. All-in-all, though, it’s just one of the most enjoyable things I’ve ever watched. Memorable characters, beautiful art, weird but fun story, and (weirdly enough) even touching at times.
Personally, I wouldn’t skip around and would start at the beginning. I started some of the way into Part 3 and liked it much more once I went back and caught up. Part 1 is this weird Castlevania/Fist of the North Star hybrid and a lot of people don’t enjoy it/or think it defines the whole series, but it doesn’t because the theme and art style of each Part changes while the main family of characters does not. Like, Part 1 is very Castlevania-esque, Part 2 is an Indiana Jones type adventure, Part 3 is around the world in 50 days, Part 4 is a Twin Peaks/slice of life murder mystery, and Part 5 is a mafia drama. Plus, Parts 1 and 2 combined is only like 23 episodes total while the other parts have like ~39-49 episodes each.
I also say start at the beginning because it sucks you in harder because of the batshit history of the main family. Not only that, but as the adventures get increasingly more...ah...bizarre...you kind of just accept it and don’t even need to rely on extreme suspension of disbelief/will generally be more willing to just roll with Araki-logic as things progress. HOWEVER, if you don’t like the first Part, I’d say read the wiki summaries of the first two Parts and just start at Part 3 (Stardust Crusaders), since that’s the one that made the series such a big hit and where the characters switch from magic psychic sunlight karate (hamon) to magic punchy spirit ghosts that are mostly named after songs/bands/albums (stands).
If you do like it/end up watching it, and want to read the manga too, everything pretty much up to current (Part 8) can be read in English for free here. :D

Best of this Week: Week of April 3rd, 2019
Best of this Week: Young Justice #4 - Brian Michael Bendis, Patrick Gleason, Josh Timms, Alejandro Sanchez, Alex Sinclair and Wes Abbott
What a great way to reintroduce a character!
To me, Amethyst is one of those characters that has always been lost in the shuffle of things. From her 1980s maxi-series, to her sixteen issue run, and her reemergence around Infinite Crisis in 2005 and even another series after the New 52 began. She’s never been around long enough to establish a strong presence in the mind, but after this issue, I want to see more of her in the future!
With an explosive beginning in the form of a flashback, awesomely drawn by Josh Timms, Amethyst is established as a capable fighter and protector of the House of Turquoise, one of the Seven Houses of Gemworld. She prevents her Queen/Mother from being kidnapped and her characterization is established immediately as being a protective, yet brash girl who is willing to end the problem of Dark Lord Opal “permanently”, but is continuously passed over by the Council of Gemworld who may or may not have struck deals with the dark lord to not be attacked if he decides to siege the rest of Gemworld.
Throughout the issue we’re also treated to Amethyst conversing with the others trapped underground. I think what makes her so endearing here is that there’s a subtle sense that she doesn’t really feel like she belongs on Gemworld, if not only because the council members suggest sending her back to Earth when they believe she’s left the council chambers and even later when her mother suggests the same. I feel as though she’ll grow into claiming both worlds as her own as the series progresses, giving her an awesome sense of self fighting for both Earth and Gemworld.
In the present, Conner and Bart get reacquainted while Conner is being detained by Dark Opal guards who threaten his family. Bart annoys them with his constant talking and Conner muses about missing the little guy and then PUNCHES the armor off of one of the guards as a show of force, causing the others to flee. Gleason does an amazing job of showing us that Conner’s still got it as his muscles ripple beneath his bodysuit and the armor shatters into thousands of pieces all under a wonderful evening sky.
The original opening line to this was going to be “Young Justice is (mostly) back,” because of the following pages show Conner and Bart reuniting with Cassie and Tim Drake “Robin”, as well as finally showing us Teen Lantern alongside Jenny Hex and Amethyst, but the team doesn’t do anything but embrace in a hug before we cut to another flashback, taking us to when Amethyst met Robin back in issue #1.
Most of my enjoyment of this issue comes from the hope that Amethyst will be a great contributing member to the Young Justice team, much like Crush on the Teen Titans. She’s got great spirit and a cool enough look to last a while and she made an impression, especially after three issues with very similar storytelling and not much action. Another contributing factor was the heartwarming embrace from the original team and it’s just nice to see most of my favorite characters seeing each other again, barring Bart. Patrick Gleason has such an innocent and strong art style that plays well with the story being told here with everyone having hopeful expressions by the end. Timms flashback art, also compliments this, making Amethyst seem more childlike and naive to the future consequences of her actions.
It took some doing, but I think I’m highly anticipating the next issue of the series.

Everyone wants to live in a perfect world.
Runner Up: Justice League #21 - Scott Snyder, Jorge Jimenez, Alejandro Sánchez, Tom Napolitano
A place where there is no war, suffering or violence. A land of peace, light and prosperity… but even peace comes at a high price.
The book begins with Superman fighting his future self after Futureman told him his plan and how he would not make it to his friends on Perfect Earth with his powers failing due to lack of sunlight. Jorge Jimenez captures how much stronger Future Superman is by having him take down Clark with what best can be described as a single handed, wristlock take down that looks like Future Superman learned a thing or two from watching the first Part of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Not only that, but his glaring white costume, colored by Alejandro Sánchez, makes him look almost god-like in comparison to current Superman. After handedly taking down Superman, Future Superman tells him that he can stay alive by eating from the garden on the other side of the rock he's on and that he will never escape.
At the same time, Batman is having tea with “Batman” Dick Grayson in a pristine and bright Gotham. Things are already unsettling. Batman is smiling, drinking tea out of happiness in a bright Gotham and that's a red flag if I've ever seen one. He's pulled away to have a meeting of the minds with the rest of the League barring Superman and the truth of the world is revealed when Hawkgirl and J'onn J'onzz ask their future “son” to tell the group what's up.
Future Superman arrives in the mindscape and reveals himself to be one of Perpetua's sons, brother to the Monitor and Anti-Monitor, The World Forger. His design is awesome with deep blue skin, a harness-like top resembling J'onn's X with his cape along with beads that make him look like a shaman and a GIANT curved hammer. He looks like a badass!
He tells the heroes how this world will come to be, with a war spilling out of sides being chosen over hope or doom. The League will preemptively attack anyone on the side of doom, they will lose their way, but it will lead to this prosperity.
Of course almost everyone is against this, causing the World Forger to become furious that they would throw everything away and risk not trapping Perpetua again for some awful sense of Justice. I loved this aspect of the book that even in the face of another being FAR above their level, everyone, aside from Batman, is willing to have hope and fight for a better path. At the same time, I love that Batman sees the Gotham he's been fighting for and would rather have it perfect than keep fighting all of the ever increasing threats.
This was a great issue and deepened the lore behind Perpetua and another one of her kids. Jorge Jimenez always does his best on art and really makes the future world look like a Utopia and plays up the desolate nature of the space that Superman is trapped in. Everything combined together makes for another fantastic book by Scott Snyder and I'm eagerly anticipating the next issue!

Hey so like people in an art server Im in were talking about the fact you draw yellowface? Is that true?
well, the real answer is no, but your art server already made their decision and said their opinion first, which overwrites reality, meaning that my word doesn't really matter, does it?
setting aside the fact that you could simply look at my art and see that exactly zero racial caricature is taking place in it, the "yellowface" i'm being accused of is not what yellowface actually, historically, means.
historically for america that is, which i am not from, so i was not brought up with their problematic history, and i was not aware of the potential implication of drawing a character with yellow skin (in an entirely non-stereotypical way might i add). i won't apologize for not being american.
i've distanced from using bright yellow shades since the first harassment campaign on my name, but of course people don't acknowledge that, because that would be admitting that their continuous harassment is unfounded and ill-intended.
i often use surreal colours in my work, and was not even remotely isolating asian characters to be the only ones coloured yellow. i've drawn various characters in various unnatural colours. during the harassment campaign, i've actually seen an east asian person speak up for me pointing out exactly this (to which they were literally told to educate themselves, yikes.)
that said, i can't NOT point out that yellowface is not literally just... yellow + face. like, that's not all there is to it and it's pretty damn ignorant to imply so. just as drawing a character with a large nose alone is not antisemitic, and drawing a black character wearing red lipstick is not racist in and of itself. there is more to racist caricature than just one(1) aesthetic feature. racist caricature exists to other people of colour and strip away their humanity. It's not just about colour, it's about making others look ugly and inhuman. that's why jewish and asian racist caricatures look like rats, because they were not supposed to look human. does my art look like that? do i draw jotaro looking like a rat? are my depictions of people of colour intentionally ugly and misshapen? or are your art server people just really eagerly looking for reasons to cancel another mildly popular jojo artist?
But either way, I really don't think any length of an explanation and contextualization matters, because I know the type of people who are accusing me. I don't see the point of spending any more of my energy trying to tell someone who vehemently hates me and tells me i should die why they are wrong about me.
This is all I'll ever say about this topic, so don't bother wasting time contacting me about it again.
