How the LADS men would react to some of my favorite games
All x Reader (separately, and it's not the main focus)
Picking out games for them all was kinda difficult, bc I have so many favorites and I wasn't sure what they'd react to or how they'd react. But I'm pretty happy with these
Based on this post
Warnings: crackfic (kinda?), one horror game, slight angst with Zayne, swearing
Word Count: 1,123 (oh hell yeah)
Main Masterlist
Love and Deepspace Masterlist
AO3
Tag List Form (Psst fill this out to be tagged in future fics! - Updated to include Xavier)
Xavier:
I think Xavier would love The Outer Worlds
I mean,, it’s a game that takes place entirely in another solar system where you crash land in an escape pod on a strange planet and gotta figure out how people here work without letting them know you’re “not from here”
They literally call the player “The Stranger”
I think he’d love looking up at the sky in game
Every one of the sky boxes is gorgeous but Emerald Vale especially
I think he’d find a safe area in game and put it on just to stare up at the sky (and fall asleep too)
Tries to choose the best outcome for every situation
Which means fucking over the government and not feeling an ounce of guilt for it
But fucking over the underdogs even for a minute feels awful
Has to ask you which choice is better or how to get the best outcome
Scarily good at fighting with melee weapons
Esp considering the heavy reliance on guns
Accidentally min-maxes the characters
He’d also love Coffee Talk
The music is so calming he usually ends up falling asleep to it
Spends a lot of time and consideration into every drink
Draws a little bunny in the lattes every single time
Probably accidentally clocks the plot twist of the game on the very first run
Tries making you the drinks irl and uhhhh he shouldn’t
-
Zayne:
Of the games I’ve played, I think The Silent Age would be very interesting for him
Helps solve the puzzles (even if you’ve played it before)
Says he finds the art style to be “charming”
Sits through every piece of dialogue no matter how long and doesn’t go forward until he comprehends it
Gets so concerned when Joe starts coughing
Generally doesn’t like seeing the bodies
It makes him unsettled and has him thinking about those he’s lost to such gruesome deaths
The twist at the end absolutely fascinates him so much
And the SECOND twist pulls him out of it
Was lowkey hoping it would be something more… fantastical
But does have to admit that horror in the now-mundane is interesting too
I also would LOVE to watch him play Ace Attorney
Could you IMAGINE???
“This is illegal.” “I know, but so is murder.” “They don’t cancel out, you know.”
“If somebody on the witness stand is overreacting that much to one small detail, I think the judge should be a little more concerned about it.”
He’d kinda love Miles Edgeworth ngl
Understands exactly what he means with the entire “unnecessary feelings” business
Wishes the autopsy reports were more in depth, for his own amusement
Accidentally says “objection” when you’re trying to lie to him about not taking care of yourself
Can’t live it down for the next week, at LEAST
-
Sylus:
Little Nightmares, straight up
He finds the concept absolutely fascinating
Doesn’t play, but enjoys watching you play
“Careful, kitten. His long arms almost grabbed you.” “YES, THANK YOU, I NOTICED.”
Loves to see you so panicked and freaked out
Laughs if something small makes you jump out of your skin
But he does try to comfort you after chase sequences when it feels like you’re having a heart attack
Pulls you into his lap and promises to protect you
Will not complain if you choose to stay there for the rest of the game
Helps you solve puzzles if you’re struggling with them for too long
But he always asks to know if you want the answer
He doesn’t need you pouting and upset just because you couldn’t figure out how to do something relatively simple
Warns the twins not to scare you for a while
For their own safety tbh
You have a gun and you WILL use it
He’d also like watching you play Animal Crossing
You can and will bully him into joining
Will catch the scary or difficult bugs for you if you’re struggling
Doesn’t need to look up any guides to find the real artworks
The very second he can get his hands on the cat cap, it’s going to you
Might ask what color you want, but he’s more likely to pick it for you so its a surprise
Wraps it up too
“Sweetie, I got you a gift.” “Awe, really?.... Really, Sylus?” “Put it on, kitten.”
Luke and Kieran have their own town
It’s extremely flushed out and scary how impressive it is
Runs turnips with them so you have nearly a billion Bells to spend on anything you want
He lets you design his house, even if you make it silly
-
Rafayel:
Tell me why my first thought was Pokemon Art Academy
He would love it tho
Sitting on the couch together, watching over your shoulder as you follow the tutorials to draw the Pokemon
They turn out like shit but he claims to love them
Passing it over to him is a bad idea, but he won’t stop whining until you do
Creates an entire masterpiece
That creature is in a damn candid shot, shaded and everything
You should have known it was a terrible idea to show him the game
When he doesn’t feel like painting or just needs a break for his mind, he’ll play it
Honestly I see him at one of his own exhibitions, standing in the corner and playing it
Thomas complains to you about it all the time
Rafayel texts you about how much the Pokemon miss you and want you to come over :’(((
Beats the game
Somehow
Not just the lessons either, literally every single drawing they give you to do, he does it
When you look at the gallery, you can see when you stopped playing and when he took over
He’d also love Little Inferno
Sings the jingle all the time until you’re threatening him to shut up
Doesn’t honestly understand the appeal at first
He can literally make and control fire, why can’t you just give him some stuff to burn and he’ll do it for you
But he slowly gets the appeal
Especially when the batteries explode
Hates the pooping cat plushie with a passion
“If that thing ever shows up in a claw machine, we are NOT getting it.”
He either fully completes the game, combos and all, or he gets to the second catalog and gets bored, no in between
Will happily watch you play tho
Loves the way you focus on trying to decipher the clues for the combos
No shame, WILL be looking up the combinations and WILL spoil them for you just to bug you
May plan a date around throwing shit into a fireplace and watching it burn in real life
There’s a fire extinguisher nearby, just in case

Mitsunoko :3c
@saltyfilmmajor NANCY HI I KNOW IT'S YOU
so I've waited until I'm stuck on a bus for about an hour to answer this on my phone bc otherwise it's going to turn into a 10 page propaganda manifesto with screenshots and I do not actually have the spoons for that.
they make me UNWELL.
Ship It
1. What made you ship it?
my beloved friend @twotwinks was playing through Ace Attorney Investigations and liveblogging it at me. and at one point jhe sent me a screenshot where Itonokogiri swears to follow Mitsurugi through thick and thin. and then was promptly dragged away from him kicking and screaming.
famous last words
jhe then started microdosing me with content about these two in the games, and after I told my treasured friend @maverickcalf about it they also started putting posts about them on my dash. and it took about three weeks before I caved and read through the entire ao3 tag of the ship in one night and. the rest is history, as they might say.
ive always had a passing interest in Gyakuten Saiban but just never got around to getting into it properly. I'd bought and played through a bit of GS6 when it first came out but didn't get very far bc of my limited Japanese then. when MT got really into it I thought it was the perfect chance for me to familiarize myself with the franchise (nothing better than a friend that infodumps) but I. never expected to fall into the franchise as hard as I did, especially not in This Specific Way. this will now be my entire personality for the next three years.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
god where do I START.
I think what really does strike me is in the first game, how much they clearly trust each other. Itonokogiri is Loud about it so we know clearly where he stands, but while Mitsurugi doesn't say it out loud there are so many scenes where his actions dictate he does trust Itonokogiri. small instances that makes you go HUH. like the fact that he feels bad about keeping things from Itonokogiri in Turnabout Goodbyes!! and the fact that Naruhodou suspected it would hurt him and WEAPONIZED that against him. like. GOD. WHAT THE FUCK. HOW IS THAT CANON.
another thing I love so much about them is that despite fitting the stereotypical roles of a smart character + a not so bright character, Mitsurugi is never condescending to Itonokogiri. it delighted me so much in Gyakuten Kenji 1 where Itonokogiri would have a question about something, and Mitsurugi would just explain it very plainly and straightforwardly to him, without judgement. it means so much to me!!! he never calls him dumb or stupid to his face!! even in his thoughts the most he does is phrase it tactfully in a way that doesn't outright insult Itonokogiri whenever he does something unexpected. I just. oughhh I love them so much.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
oh boy do I.
having only played the games in Japanese and only learned about the changes made in the English version through my friends, I strongly believe the English localization of the franchise is at best a pale comparison to the original and at worst a purposeful character assassination of many of the characters, ESPECIALLY Itonokogiri. to me, Ace Attorney is a completely different franchise from Gyakuten Saiban and the characters in the localization are not and will never be the same characters as the ones in the original. I respect the people in the fandom that love version of the ship and the characters in the localization but I need people to understand. they have a very different vibe from the original version of them. because Itonokogiri, a Japanese man, not understanding what a ceiling fan (katakana) is, and Gumshoe, an American, not understanding what a ceiling fan (English) is, have very different implications, and Mitsurugi's and Edgeworth's reactions differ greatly based on that.
I can never engage with the English-speaking fandom at large bc of that and it saddens me, but at this point I care about Mitsurugi and Itonokogiri's characterization in the original Japanese versions of the games Too Much to compromise on it.
oh and even among jp fans I am camp mitsunoko instead of nokomitsu (it's less about the top and bottom thing and more about the vibes and dynamics bc on GOD Itonokogiri would NEVER be the one to make the first move are you KIDDING ME) and that pigeonholes me into an even MORE niche corner LMAO.
anyway I think that still turned out longer than I meant for it to be sgskhsjs but godddd they plague my every waking thought. ITONOKOGIRI CHECKS UP ON MITSURUGI AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE. MITSURUGI ONLY TOLD ITONOKOGIRI ABOUT HIS TRIP ABROAD AND NO ONE ELSE. THEY CAN'T COMMUNICATE FOR SHIT AND NEVER TALK ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THEY KNOW EACH OTHER SO WELL. WHY ARE THEY LIKE THIS.
#gyakuten saiban#gyakuten kenji#mitsurugi reiji#itonokogiri keisuke#mitsunoko#gumworth#<- adding this tag just to show that I Am Here and i will be retreating back into my mitsunoko corner now#if you're interested in my ramblings about them feel free to hit me up but please understand#this is not an english localization friendly blog#badgerh answers#badgerh metas#(kinda)

Chapter 15: Warranted
Twelfth Floor Intern Masterlist
Pairing: Miles Edgeworth x fem!reader
**THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS A NIGHTMARE ABOUT SEXUAL ASSAULT. IT IS AT THE VERY BEGINNING. YOU CAN SKIP IT BY LOOKING FOR THE LINES OF DASHES, INDICATING THE END OF THE DREAM. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO READ IT FOR THE SAKE OF THE STORY. ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS IT HAPPENED**
Summary: A nightmare about your case brutalizes your sleep. Miles does everything he can to comfort you and when the haze of the dream fades, you continue your investigation which bares little fruit until one phone call from Dr. Ross kicks your investigation into overdrive.
Tags: Power Imbalance, Mentor/Intern, Miles wants you so bad but he's ethical AF now, No use of y/n, depictions of violence, Discussion of Rape, description of murder victims, adult murder victims, child murder victims, Eventual Smut, Happy Ending, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, Vaginal Sex, Vaginal Fingering, Creampies, Loss of Virginity, Miles is the king of prosecutors but also the king of consent, Fluff and Smut, Romance, Blow Jobs, Nightmare about sexual assault, cross posted on AO3
Your dreary eyes open to an unfamiliar place. You're in a park in the middle of the night. You turn your head. No, you're in a construction site. You press yourself up on your elbows to look around. Hard pebbles dig into your skin. It's so dark. Coupled with the drowsy haze still clouding your vision, you can barely see anything. It's cold. You start to shiver and try folding your arms around yourself.
How did I get here?
The ground beneath you is hard. Rocks, twigs, and who knows what else poke your skin through your clothes. There's little sound other than the breeze gliding through the musty night air. You're so tired; you can barely keep your eyes open.
In an instant, you feel a heavy weight on top of you and a hand clenched around your throat. It tightens as you attempt to scream. A large figure pins you to the ground. Tears rush into your eyes and stream down the side of your face. Knees force your legs apart. Your hands reach up in an effort to claw at your assailant. The sleeves of his dark clothes protect him from your fingernails and his face is obscured by his hood, the overall darkness, and your bleary eyes. You can't get in any air as the hand strangling you has completely obstructed your airway. Your eyes cry harder and your hands desperately try to pull the hand away from your neck. His other hand comes up and holds a knife just below your jaw.
"Shut up! Don't fight!" A rough, unfamiliar voice commands. The razor sharp blade presses harder against your skin, threatening your jugular vein. You can feel a small cut forming, stinging as blood starts to ooze around the weapon.
Your eyes are gushing with terror filled tears, chafing the skin on your face. You whimper but keep yourself quiet, just hoping you'll live.
How did I get here!?
The knife leaves your throat briefly to slide under your clothes and slice your top open. You're sick to your stomach. You feel the cold blade against your neck again as his other hand roughly gropes your breast. The freezing air drags against your bare skin, leaving you shivering from the bitter cold in addition to the frightening terror. The hard, unforgiving ground digs even further into your back with all the extra weight pressing you against the earth.
You can't help but let out a sob. All you can do is tremble helplessly and wait for either death or escape. "Please, don't kill me," you attempt to beg, whimpering.
"Shut up!" The man screams back and presses the knife tighter against your throat.
Your pants are forced down followed by your panties. Your head tilts upward to relieve the pressure on your neck from the knife. Consequently, you can't see what's happening between your legs as your bottoms are removed. Instead, you feel the brisk air sting your skin. You're freezing. Hard knees force your legs apart again and pin them to the ground. The force against your thighs burns sharply, crushing your muscles against your leg bone and the hard ground.
The most dreaded moment arrives and you feel hard flesh forcibly invade you. You can't help but cry out from the pain, hoping for freedom or death. You'd be fine with either.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your eyes shoot open with a gasp and you're instantly back in Miles' bedroom. He's already awake sitting up next to you. Your heart pounds hard and fast, reverberating all the way in your ears.
It was a dream.
A horrible, gut wrenching nightmare.
It wasn't real, but you are still so terrified you cry harder, even more than you already were in your sleep. You can feel the air cooling your soaked cheeks as you sit up. Your panicked breaths fill the otherwise quiet room with sound. Your ears are still ringing from the paralyzing fear. You shake violently.
"Are you alright?" Miles asks, his voice drenched in worry.
You turn and latch onto him while you sob. He slips one arm under your legs and the other around your back to slide you into his lap, enveloping you in his soft comfort. One hand runs fingers soothingly through your hair and the other holds your waist, warmth infused in his touch.
He kisses your temple and whispers, "it's alright. You're safe. I'm right here." The slow, steady rise and fall of his chest as he breathes is a rhythmic whisper of unwavering love and protection.
As the weight of the nightmare lifts and your alertness increases, you calm. Your breathing slows and the stream of tears down your face thins. Miles keeps his warm and loving hold on you. Your head leans against his chest, each beat of his heart chasing away more of the cold chill and dark perils of your nightmare.
Another deep breath, a sigh, and your tense muscles relax. Your terror fades in the solace and comfort of Miles' tender embrace. He is your source of strength, your sanctuary from the horrors both of reality and those dredged up by your subconscious.
Calm silence fills the room again. You close your eyes and still leaning against Miles' chest, you reveal softly, "I…have a little better idea of what Suzanne and Erica went through." You can scarcely imagine what it felt like for horrors such as that to be endured in reality. It makes your heart sting just imagining it; not a mere nightmare; not an imagining of one of the most evil crimes a human can commit against another, but the real thing; the true atrocity unfiltered by the illusion of a dream. Your heart breaks thinking about Suzanne and Erica going through just that.
Miles holds tighter to you as he comes to a full understanding of what your nightmare entailed. "I was hoping I'd be the only one to have such dreams," he whispers. "I'm sorry this case is haunting you as much as it is me."
"We have to find him, Miles. We have to find who's doing this." You wrap your arms around him, hugging him tightly.
He kisses your forehead and cups your face, looking you deep in your eyes. "We will and I promise you nothing is going to happen to you. I swear on my life I will keep you safe." He vows with the firm conviction to which you've become accustomed. You know that tone in his voice. You know that determination that's ringing with every word. You believe in him with all your heart.
With the nightmare melted away, replaced by the love you feel from Miles, you lay back down together. He tucks you securely in his arms, against his chest and you return to slumber listening to the sound of his heartbeat.
Your eyes open again, hours later, to the sound of his alarm. You're still safely locked in his arms. You smile up at him as he looks sweetly at you and push yourself up to kiss his lips. "Good morning," you greet along with your loving embrace.
"Good morning. How are you?" He asks, carefully studying your face for any signs of distress.
"I'm alright. I'm really glad I wasn't alone last night." You relax back into the bed.
He carefully pushes himself up and leans over top of you, pressing another tender kiss to your lips then moving to your neck. "You never have to be alone. Even once this case is over, all you need to do is ask and I will be beside you," he vows with a whisper in your ear. "My home is always open to you."
"I'll keep that in mind." You pull his lips to yours.
You both manage to get out of bed in a timely manner. You shower together, keeping the act rather chaste save for a kiss here and there for the sake of time.
You report in to your father as promised. You're honest about having bad dreams, but leave out most of the details as well as how you were comforted when you woke up. Satisfied with your answer, he leaves you to finish getting ready for the day.
As you're about to leave the house, Miles' cell phone rings. "Edgeworth." He keeps his expression neutral as he listens. He's quiet for some time before replying, "understood. Thank you." He concludes the call and replaces the phone in his pocket. He turns to you. "There's a swarm of reporters outside the office wanting to know about our case. Detective Gumshoe is attempting to placate them, but I suspect they're waiting to bombard us with questions. Two victims and no answers will unfortunately lead the media to become restless."
"Do you think they'll ask about you and me?"
"Possibly. The most important thing to remember is that you don't need to answer anything. This is an ongoing investigation and we owe them nothing at this time. As for any questions about our personal affairs, we never owe them anything."
"Okay, no answers."
He nods. "Keep your eyes forward and walk into the building."
"Right. I can do that."
When you arrive at the building, there is still a crowd of reporters hovering around the entrance. Your heart starts to speed up, hoping you don't accidentally say or do something that will reflect poorly on you or Miles…or, even worse, add more fuel to the rumors about you two. As true as they may be.
Heads turn as you both approach the entrance to the office. Cameras start flashing and the chatter loudens. Miles turns his head very slightly towards you and says just loud enough for you to hear, "stay calm and keep walking. Don't feel pressured to answer anything. I will try to give them a few details from the case to satisfy them."
You nod and hold your breath as you approach. You hear your and Miles' names echoing throughout the crowd.
"Mr. Edgeworth! What can you tell us about these murders?!" One reporter shouts. You can't even tell from where exactly the voice came.
"It's an ongoing investigation and as a result I unfortunately can't give many details, but I can say we are working diligently to resolve this case," Miles answers while continuing to walk.
"Mr. Edgeworth! Have there been any more victims!?" Another shouts.
"At this time there are two victims who are possibly linked, but this has not been confirmed due to lack of sufficient evidence. Please, excuse us." He picks up his pace slightly. You follow suit.
You're halfway through the crowd and all you've heard is questions about the case. You start to relax thinking you'll make it through easily when…
"Mr. Edgeworth! Is it true you're having an affair with your intern!?" One person asks. You assume that's one of the tabloid reporters.
The crowd quiets for a brief moment. There are a few 'whats' and 'huhs', then suddenly their questions shift to asking about you and Miles. You hear your name called half a dozen times.
He whispers to you, "don't look at them. Keep walking. There's nothing you can say that will help."
After what seems like an eternity you make it through the front doors. You let out a sigh of relief, elated to hear the familiar sound of the foyer of the office building with a distinct lack of media chatter.
"You did fine," Miles reassures you. You look up at him with a relaxed smile. "Don't worry too much about them. We have more important things to do right now."
You reach Miles' office and plan out your course for interviewing owners and staff for the bars near where Erica was found. The most obvious route would be to start with the closest establishments first and work your way out.
You're in the middle of making the list of the order you'll follow when Miles' office phone rings.
"Edgeworth." He listens for a moment then hits the speaker button and replaces the receiver on the base.
"...I checked our employee and freelance worker records and I did find Bradley Hogger's name on my freelance hire list. I guess he works afternoons after he gets off his other job. He doesn't have a key issued to him 'cause freelance guys don't get them, but interestingly enough one of my contractors said his key for the gates went missing the other day." You recognize the voice as Mr. Quinn, the construction foreman.
You and Miles exchange glances. This is very interesting.
"And, get this, the guy hasn't been showing up for work the last couple days. I mean it's no skin off my nose. The freelance guys are paid by the day so if they don't show, they don't get a check…say this Bradley guy, he's not the killer is he?"
"He is a person of interest at this time, Mr. Quinn. I'm afraid Mr. Hogger isn't likely to show up any time soon, but please let me know if he does."
"Sure thing. Anything else you wanna know?" Mr. Quinn asks.
Miles gives you a look as if to permit you to ask any questions.
You greet Mr. Quinn and reintroduce yourself as Miles' intern. "Did Mr. Hogger ever mention Suzanne Ozcar?" You ask.
"Hm." The foreman pauses. "Was that his girlfriend? He did say he was taking these extra jobs to buy a ring for his girl."
You and Miles share a glance again.
"He was planning on buying an engagement ring?" You ask.
"Yup. Said he had one picked out and everything," Mr. Quinn clarifies. "I don't know if he mentioned a name though."
"Thank you so much, Mr. Quinn," you reply.
After your call concludes, you begin your canvas of the next series of bars.
"I had a thought," you begin, "maybe we should check Mr. Hogger's primary job."
"See if he's actually showing up to work there?"
"Exactly. It would be suspicious if he's been as absent there as the construction site."
"It's certainly reasonable. Consider though, he may have chosen to take a leave of absence to grieve. That being said, I agree it's a worthwhile piece of information to have."
You smile at him then remember you still need to send a message to your father for your noon check in. When you check your phone you discover about a dozen text messages from Nora. Oh boy…
"Oh my God! Max is so hot! Have you been hiding him from me all this time??
He's built like a tank!
We're going to breakfast in the morning! <3
I'm trying to think of a dirty sausage joke but I'm too excited to be clever right now!
Ugh I have to get some sleep.
I can't sleep! :(
Breakfast was amazing! Max was in the Marines! Did you know??
We're going to dinner on Friday! Ahhhh!!
You better give me your best friend seal of approval! Otherwise I'm finding a new best friend!
You know what? Fuck it! I don't even care. That's a stupid rule anyway. I'm pretty sure you just made it up!"
You laugh out loud at Nora's absurdity.
Miles glances at you.
"Nora went to breakfast with Max this morning," you announce. "I guess they're going to dinner on Friday."
"She moves quickly," Miles comments with a smile.
You snort. "Who are we to judge?"
"Fair point."
"Max better be good to her," you declare.
"Detective Gumshoe gave him a glowing review. Former marine, good job performance, no complaints from supervisors. He's a decorated officer."
"Goes to church every Sunday?" You joke.
He chuckles. "Helps old ladies across the street."
"Reads to blind children."
"Buys flowers for his mother."
His last comment strikes you. You've never heard anything about Miles' mother. You know a bit about his father and how he died, but nothing of the woman who gave him life. You pause for a moment. Your curiosity is too great, but you attempt to find the best way to approach it. "Can I ask you something?"
"Anything."
"Where…where's your mother?"
"I wish I could tell you, but I don't know. She walked out on my father and me when I was six years old."
"Oh, God. I-I'm sorry." You wince from the idea. Miles has no family left in his life.
He flashes you a quick, reassuring smile. "It's alright. I've made peace with it." He moves one of his hands from the steering wheel to hold yours.
You bring his hand to your lips and kiss it sweetly. "She missed out. Whatever she's like, I'm sure she couldn't be anything but proud of who you are."
"Maybe not who I always was," he replies with a smirk.
"That's just it, though. You were dealt a bad hand and you still came out on top. I think that says more about you than if you never had to overcome the challenges you did."
"I suppose. Thank you."
You kiss his hand again and hold it for the remainder of your drive.
You arrive at Syd's Auto Repair and head inside to find Bradley's supervisor.
The main office is small and decorated with very simple chairs for customers. There's oil and car part company logos and posters all over the walls. A simple, gray reception desk sits in the far corner and a small table with a cheap coffee pot stands next to the customer chairs.
A young woman sits behind the reception desk. She can't be older than twenty. Her expression is aloof and she certainly seems like she'd rather be almost anywhere else. She stares absentmindedly at a magazine with which she's probably also already bored.
You greet her kindly and introduce yourself and Miles. She looks up from her magazine; you can see her suppress an eye roll. "We're from the Los Angeles prosecutor's office and we would like to speak with the owner."
She sighs and turns her head back towards a small hallway behind the reception desk, presumably leading to the owner's office. "Dad!" She shouts.
That explains a lot.
You hear a door open and a middle aged man emerges from the small hallway. He greets you both warmly.
"I'm Syd Carter. What can I do for you?" He asks.
You repeat your introductions and request to speak with him privately. He leads you back to his office where the three of you sit.
"What's this all about?" Syd asks, looking concerned.
"We would like to ask you about one of your employees, Bradley Hogger."
"Oh, Bradley. He's not in today. He's been out the last week or so, actually. I think he lost a close friend to…wait, is he in some sort of trouble?"
"He is a person of interest in an ongoing investigation," you reveal.
"Okay…" Syd seems quite uncomfortable with your statement.
"Can you tell us what he's like as an employee?"
"He's fine, usually. He shows up on time, does his job." He frowns. "He's not the best with customers so I don't really have him up at the front much. He really just does the auto repairs."
"Can you elaborate on his customer service?" You ask.
He sighs and shifts uncomfortably in his chair. His brow furrows and he looks away. "There was a customer who complained that he did a poor job repairing the engine; that it was still causing problems. Bradley blew up at the guy! Yelling and screaming; calling him a liar. I had to pull him back to the garage just to get him to calm down."
"Has he always been like that?"
"No. He was a real sweet kid when I hired him a few years back. It's just been in the last year that he's gotten a short fuse."
"So, he's grown to be temperamental?"
"Yes, I would say that." His eyes dart back to you and Miles. He pales as a disturbing thought crosses his mind. He looks afraid. "You…you think he killed those women, don't you?"
"No formal charges have been brought forth against Mr. Hogger at this time," you answer.
"Sh-should I suspend him, you think? Just for now…you know, until you get all this cleared up?" He asks, his voice trembling.
"Not if you want to avoid an employment attorney breathing down your neck," you warn. You're all too familiar with what could happen.
"You can place him on leave, but you'll have to pay him. You'll avoid civil action that way," Miles chimes in.
"Done. I just don't want to risk it. If there's even the slightest chance he did it…I don't want him anywhere near my daughter. She's only eighteen."
"Could you have her stay away, instead?" You ask.
"She'd be home alone, then. I don't think I like that either. Her mom passed on when she was born. Just been the two of us ever since," he reveals, looking forlorn.
"You remind me a lot of my dad, Mr. Carter."
He gives a weak smile. "It's a father thing. The two women who died…they were young weren't they?"
"Both victims were in their early twenties, yes," you confirm.
Syd's worry only rises. He runs his hands through his hair.
"Was Mr. Hogger acting strange at all before the death of Suzanne Ozcar?" You ask.
He pushes himself through his anxious breaths. "Uh…no. No, I don't think so. Not that I recall, anyway."
You thank Mr. Carter for his time and depart the business to head for the bars and find more witnesses.
You're able to make it through the first half of the bars near the construction site. You don't find much useful information. Everyone you talk to 'might' have seen Erica and she was 'maybe' with someone who 'kind of' looked like Bradley but no one was sure. She wasn't regular enough for the staff to remember her with certainty yet there was a plethora of individuals who looked at least somewhat convinced they had seen her. At the end of the day, however, none of it was enough to pursue Bradley as a suspect.
Miles places a hand on your shoulder as you leave the most recent bar which offers you nothing of value. "You look exhausted."
You look up at him through wary eyes that grow puffier by the minute. You sigh. "Well, I didn't get the best sleep last night."
"How about we turn in, then?"
You don't want to quit, out of sheer determination and mounting anger over the fact that you are getting nowhere, but Miles is right. You are very tired and likely won't be of much use for much longer. You give in and nod at him.
The drive back to Miles' home is quiet. You're spiraling down a rabbit hole of dangerous contemplation and can't help but feel as though you're making so little progress you're compelled to call your own competence into question. As a result, your confidence starts to slide. You've always been on top, the best, the smartest, always been one step ahead, but now, you feel like you're trailing behind and because of that, people are dying. You have no idea if or when there will be another victim and you can't do anything about it!
You walk inside the house on autopilot, hardly perceiving anything around you, making your way to the ever more familiar bedroom. Miles gently grabs your hand and pulls you into his arms.
"Alright, what's going on inside that head of yours?" He asks, concern all over his face.
You avoid eye contact and attempt to avoid divulging your multiplying fears, afraid the mentor in him will be disappointed in your tanking confidence. "Nothing," you answer quietly and attempt to turn away.
He hugs you tighter and cups your face with one hand then slides it down under your chin, turning your head back up to face him. He says nothing and simply raises his eyebrows at you.
You whimper, defenses crumbling, and sigh quietly, slowly letting out the breath you were holding. "I feel so lost," you confess. He returns the hand on your chin to your hip. "It's like we're always one step behind and all we're doing is following the trail of bodies instead of getting ahead of this guy and stopping the death count from growing." You take a step back and sit on the edge of the bed. "It's starting to feel like…like I'm not…" you squirm in your own skin, loathing the fact that you feel so inept when you've always been so proficient.
Miles sits down next to you and holds your hand in his lap. "Like you have no clue what you're doing?"
You look up at him, surprised he's able to read your mind the way he does. "Yes! Like a brand new student on my first day of class."
"I still feel that way from time to time," Miles admits.
"Really?" You ask, feeling even more kinship with him.
He nods with a smile. "This case has definitely left me stretched to my limits: frustrated, angry, vengeful."
"It's…unbearable." You close your eyes and frown.
"It is," Miles agrees.
You stare at the floor. "What do I do?"
"You have to train yourself to think logically when emotions run too high. It's sort of a one-step-at-a-time thing. Right now, I think you should sleep. The frustrations will fade and your focus will return." He wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you against his side, then plants a kiss to your temple.
Sleep. Dream. That's almost worse than staying awake and wallowing in self pity. The fears from last night start to seep back into your conscious thought.
"You're trembling," he whispers and presses another kiss to your temple.
"I'm…scared to fall asleep," you confess, staring dead eyed at the floor. Fear and exhaustion compete for control over your body, but the end result is you're left frozen sitting next to Miles like a cornered mouse.
Miles pulls you into his lap, your legs sitting to one side of his. He kisses your forehead. "I will never let anyone hurt you. No one can get to you here. I promise, I'm going to keep you safe. I love you."
You look in his eyes, love potent in his expression. Your hand softly caresses his cheek and you lean in to kiss him. The tension begins to melt away and you keep your lips connected with his for a long, soothing moment before breaking away to whisper, "I love you so much." Overcome with warmth and comfort, you press your mouth to his again and push him down onto the bed. You lay on top of him and your kiss turns hungry and sensual. Tongues glide together and you sigh happily as your fears dissipate and you relax.
You push yourself up and peel off your blouse, then delicately unbutton your lover's dress shirt, rubbing your hands up and down his chest. He grabs one of your hands and brings it to his lips, kissing your palm. Every touch he gives you, flushes more of your dark worries away. "You are remarkably resilient, you know that?" Miles comments.
You smile, resting your bare chest back against his. "Because of you, Miles. You make me stronger." You peck his lips and move your head to the side, planting sweet, loving kisses to his cheek and jaw. You roll off briefly to remove the rest of your clothes. Miles takes the opportunity to do the same.
You slowly crawl back on top of him with a devilish grin. You straddle his hips, teasing his hardening length by grinding your sex against it, wetness already seeping through your folds and coating him. His arms slide around your back and hug you close as you kiss his neck. He moans softly at your touch.
You reach between your heated bodies and grip him gently, lining him up with your entrance. With a breathy moan, you slowly sink down, burying him inside you, engulfing his hardness in your slick core.
Your mouths return to each other. Your hair falls all around him, a curtain concealing your heated kiss. You begin rolling your hips, grinding his erection against that sweet spot on your walls. You can't hold back your moans of delicious pleasure.
His hips thrust against yours, pushing himself deeper inside. Your breaths turn into feverish panting and your legs push your hips up and down. His hands slip down to grip lower and assist your bouncing. He grunts, nearing his release. His movements become more erratic and you do your best to keep your mouths together, bracing your arms on either side of his head. Your breasts sway and slide against his chest.
His climax hits and the feeling of Miles filling you sends you over the edge, clamping your walls down around him, greedily pulling every last drop out of him.
You linger on top of him, breath slowly calming, his length softening inside you, and kiss him deeply, pulling his tongue into your mouth to suck on it.
You contently explore each other's mouths until you hear your phone ringing. You pull your head up to contemplate who would call so late.
Oh no! you forgot to call your father.
You scramble off of Miles and jump out of bed to grab your phone from your bag. "Dad! I'm so sorry! It was a…well kind of a bad day and I-I forgot to call."
"That's okay, Sweetheart," your dad replies softly, heavy relief prominent in his voice. "I was just getting worried is all. Had to make sure you were okay. Is Edgeworth taking good care of you?"
Poor choice of words, Dad. "Yes, Dad, everything is fine."
"Good. What happened today?"
You sigh. "I just feel like we're running around in circles with this case and like I'm failing."
"I know the feeling, Honey. It doesn't really go away, not with those really hard cases. Don't get too down on yourself. You are brilliant. You will figure it out."
"Thanks, Dad." You sit down on the bed next to Miles. "I'm going to go to bed. I'm really tired."
"Okay. Goodnight, Sweetie. I love you. Call me in the morning."
"I will, Dad. Love you, too." You hang up and set the phone on the bedside table.
You and Miles crawl under the sheets and you snuggle in next to him, not bothering with any pajamas. He kisses your head and whispers his love, devotion, and promise to keep you safe in your ear over and over until you fall asleep.
Happily, you avoid any nightmares and recall only a few innocuous images. When the alarm wakes you in the morning, you smile up at your favorite pair of gray eyes as the lips you love so dearly move to greet you.
He runs his fingers through your hair. "Any bad dreams?" He asks.
You shake your head with a content smile.
"Good." He hugs you tightly and kisses you once more. "We're in for another long day. We'd best get moving."
You spend much of the day canvassing more of the bars near the construction site with little payoff. you're starting to feel frustrated again when Miles' phone rings with the news you've been waiting for since the beginning of all this.
"Edgeworth," he answers, the speakerphone already active.
"Mr. Edgeworth, this is Dr. Ross. I have some good news for you and your intern."
"Go on," he encourages, hope building in his voice.
"We finally got a good DNA sample from Suzanne Ozcar's fingernails."
"And?" Miles replies.
"It was a match for Bradley Hogger."
You feel the most satisfying jolt of renewed purpose and determination. The words 'Arrest Warrant' flash obnoxiously in your head.
Thanks to Suzanne Ozcar's valiant efforts in her last, terrifying moments of life, Bradley Hogger just went from person of interest to primary suspect.

Nonsense Ass Creed AU Thoughts
1. Larry is like the Leonardo/Piri Reis of the Brotherhood, but like.... He's the Leonardo IF Leonardo was more unreliable/a bit useless at times. Larry doesn't go out on missions and stuff, he mainly bums around the hideout building useful gadgets and weapons and stuff and uses his clout as an artist to hold big swanky events which help the gang pull off missions and stuff.
2. Phoenix meets Maya when Mia mysteriously goes missing (rather than being murdered) and the story becomes kind of a tag-team effort of the two of them trying to figure out what happened to Mia (and not even being sure if she's still alive or not) and Phoenix trying to rescue Edgeworth from the grip of the Templar Order.
3. I am only just now considering the absolute hilarity of Phoenix being terrified of heights while also being an Assassin, since dangerously free-climbing huge buildings and jumping off dangerously high vantage points is like, their whole deal.
4. Maya has some kind of bullshit first-civ descendant super power that she primarily uses to help out, since she was too young to have started proper Assassin training before Mia goes missing (She has something like Eagle Vision but maybe not exactly that, like. Maybe she's a prophet or something??? idk. Have I mentioned Assassin's Creed is stupid.)
5. Phoenix gets to teach Maya Assassin stuff. It's difficult, he's not the best teacher because HE'S still new to this shit, but they really bond over the process and he becomes fiercely protective of her. By the time they figure out where Mia is and the three reunite, Phoenix has basically become the unofficial middlest Fey sibling.
6. Concept: Scene where Templar!Edgeworth dramatically holds Phoenix at knifepoint in some dark alley and monologues about Phoenix needs to let their past together go, and he demands Phoenix stop trying to follow him. He warns Phoenix that the next time they meet, he WILL have to kill him. (spoilers: Phoenix does not listen to this warning, and the next time they meet, Edgeworth, in fact, does not kill him.)
7. Concept: Maya and Franziska cross paths when Maya and Phoenix are infiltrating the von Karma residence for some reason or another. They have a knife battle or something with Maya quipping and being goofy the whole time and Franziska being furious that she's not taking this seriously. It ends with Maya completely getting the better of Franzy and leaving her comically tied up or something (rather than killing her) and Franziska is left with a lot of REALLY CONFUSING FEELINGS in the aftermath.
8. Concept: Phoenix and Edgeworth end-game tag team battle against a cackling supervillain MVK who is using some kind of ludicrous first civ artifact (Press (X) to Punch the Pope)

Ace Attorney: Rise From the Ashes (Day Two, Investigation Former) (part 4)
(There’s so much to speculate on at this point in the game that I ended up just plain narrating all the events in detail. It was fun to write - but is it fun to read? Or do people prefer the less wordy format?) Today on Ace Attorney, we have our mission clear in mind: bring down Stinkyhead Gant the police chief, thereby saving both Lana Skye's life and Miles Edgeworth's career. And oh yeah we should probably figure out who killed Detective Goodman.
Twice.
Simultaneously in two different places. Could be twins, but my money's on the second victim being someone else dressed up in a white trenchcoat and fedora, and Gant was playing elaborate word games at the trial to technically not lie about it. No idea why.
A quick review establishes that the two crime scenes are 30 minutes apart by car, and then we're off to the parking garage to do Science(tm), I guess?
Ema announces that no body was found in the evidence room murder. Huh. That certainly wasn't mentioned at the trial! How, exactly, do you ID a nonexistent body? In particular, why would you think it was someone who was provably elsewhere and also dead?
Also Ema: Murder, sure, but my sister would NEVER erase evidence, that's unthinkable!
She's all excited about spraying for blood traces. And she has a point that we can't trust the police. Pink glasses on, new game mechanic engaged, and... we find some splotches right next to the car trunk. Not enough for a fatal knife fight, though. Lana's shoe has more blood on it than the ground.
Hello, lunchlady. You're much more friendly today. Though your bentos are no more appetizing than usual.
Angel Starr: Yes, I totally lied about these key facts to make my enemy seem more guilty. But you haven't caught me in any lies about these OTHER things, and that's what's important!
Instead of pointing out that we have no reason to trust ANY of her testimony, Phoenix muses that the photo she took must have a Clue in it. Hm. Re-examining it, I see:
Lana still has both shoes on and they do not match the shoe submitted as evidence. Clue or low production values?
Lots of blood on her trenchcoat, no scarf, gloves, she's about to shut the trunk. But she didn't, since the crime scene outline tape shows the body was hanging out of it when found.
I dunno, man. The Clue eludes me. We ask Angel about her past as a detective instead. I get the distinct sense she is bragging about having tortured suspects.
Ema rises ten points in my estimation for a perfect delivery of the obvious food-poisoning insult. Angel barely notices, though; she's too busy being bitter about the case that got her fired. The SL-9 incident - same name as the tag on the knife, no surprise there.
Our victim Goodman was the lead detective on the case, she says. The knife was the murder weapon (duh), and in her eyes the case isn't over. (Goodman probably thought the same. Does Lana?) But it seems that's all she wants to say. We give up and head to the police department. There's another crime scene that could use a dose of Science.
The moving doll is still out front. Inside, the head detective won't talk about the situation, but will brag about his plush version of the doll. The other detective at his desk is working on his Agatha Christie fanfic. I'm not exactly sensing grim determination to avenge a fallen colleague, here.
We reach the security guard office. Cheesy cowboy decor, eleven booze bottles plus a full glass right on the front desk, and a line set up for hanging laundry. Somebody sleeps under his desk and has no fucks left to give. A lasso "trap" in front of the inner door looks like something set by Wile E. Coyote on an off day.
Ema's imagination is good enough to compare her sister to a cactus - but not good enough to think of using the ID card in our inventory to get into the evidence room. Or looking up stuff on the conveniently unguarded security computer. Instead we stand around waiting for Marshall until I give up.
Detention center: Lana is being interrogated. Will she be charged with both deaths, common sense not being an obstacle around here? But no, Phoenix remembers that Gant said they'd caught a suspect for the second murder. I really hope it's not Gumshoe.
The Prosecutor's office doesn't seem to be available right now. With no other options, we head back to the lunchlady and try again. I throw everything in my inventory at her this time. To my surprise, she has some solid observations to make:
- If Angel hadn't witnessed the crime, Edgeworth would've been the obvious first suspect. ...Was that the plan? I assumed before that she was planted at the scene as a witness, but now I'm not so sure.
- She's backed off from her blind rage against Lana enough to admit that it's very odd for such an organized person not to have brought her own murder weapon.
- She could've taken her photo from the overlooking guard room, instead of spending five minutes running all around the edge of the parking garage and climbing a high chain link fence. Her testimony looks fishy because of that.
Ema points out that lying on the stand is fishier. Angel retorts that her testimony was "disregarded" before in THAT case, and she was determined not to let it happen again. Do tell, lunchlady. Vent your bitterness at us.
And she does. (Flashback image: Angel, Goodman, and Marshall bent over a map, with a fourth person mostly hidden by the speech bubble.) The prosecutors, she says, were desperate for decisive evidence of guilt. They did not find it...so they used fake evidence to convict and execute the suspect. And then fired or demoted all the detectives involved.
Oof. So, falsified evidence *isn't* common practice here, depite the rumors about Edgeworth. It's so rare and so unacceptable that this level of coverup was needed to prevent major scandal. Angel has reason for her hatred of prosecutors - but who exactly was responsible? Edgeworth was new on the job at the time. It would have been Lana, pressured by Gant. And that's why Lana has been a cactus ever since.
I still don't like Angel, but she's smart enough to recognize Phoenix will serve her ends. She gives us an actually tasty-looking lunch! I thought it was a present in recognition of allyship, but no, it's a bribe. Presumably the smell of steak will lure someone back to his assigned guard post.
Ema blurts out her concern for Marshall, who apparently was a lot nicer before SL-9 and did not use to refer to her as a baby cow. Angel assures us Marshall is not one of her many boyfriends. I'm not sure why this makes Ema feel better, but it does.
Back to the PD we go with steak in hand.
Gumshoe is not arrested! He'd tell us who is, but we only have one piece of protein in the inventory and there's no need to trade it for the name. I can easily imagine who would be "having a good cry" in detention...but I can't imagine him doing murder. Even the judge wouldn't buy a whopper like that.
Waving the steak around at the security guard office fails to summon Marshall, so we head back *again* to lend the Sniveling Mailman a handkerchief. (Phoenix is racking up a lot of taxi or subway expenses, here. And he won't have the heart to bill Ema if Lana is convicted.)
S.M. Meekins, left hand thoroughly bandaged, can't imagine himself doing murder either. He is very confused and very loud. I am confused too, about why the guards haven't taken his portable loudspeaker away. But his garbled tale of woe clears things up for me if not for our heroes.
Meekins saw a "suspicious person" in a white trenchcoat and fedora on the monitors in the guard office, went into the evidence room and asked him for his ID. The guy pointed a knife at him and Meekins freaked out and tried to attack. Then he fainted and awoke alone with a bleeding hand. Soo...There's no body because nobody died. Gant is just *claiming* there was a murder because
well um because
Why would he claim that??? It's easily disproven. The security videos would normally show what happened clearly so they must've been deleted, or the cameras weren't working. And Marshall was not at his post.
Ema, bless her heart, connects the lack of dots and points out there was no murder - so why is Meekins in jail? Apparently there IS a security tape, I was wrong, and it shows the crime...and that it really was Goodman in the evidence room.
Twins? Lies? But which parts are lies? I throw some inventory items at Meekins just in case, and he recognizes the knife. The broken-tip knife with the SL-9 tag that was found in Edgeworth's car muffler, wrapped in Lana's scarf. Meekins is incoherent so Phoenix writes it off - but I don't.
Twin Goodmans AND identical knives is too much even for this series. And that means the real lie is about the time. Goodman was not in the evidence room and the parking garage simultaneously. He was in the evidence room first, perhaps? Getting the knife? But the security video must have timestamps...
I really want to see this security tape now. So we take our meat back to the police department, only to find Gant bullying the chief on duty. You. YOU ARE EVIL AND CONFUSING. I'm going to leave a 1-star review on ratemyvillain if you don't organize your nefarious plot better.
Gant is demanding that everything of Goodman's be found/removed, down to the trash in his wastepaper basket. (But he's happy to stop and chat with us and slander Edgeworth some more, with a bonus suggestion that Phoenix too is corrupt for having "proved" his innocence last game.)
The duty chief must not like being bullied, because he shows us something he kept back: a lost item report Goodman half-filled-out on the day of his death. It doesn't say what was lost. His ID, perhaps?
Surprisingly (suspiciously), Gant is willing to let us investigate the evidence room. He even gives us a guest ID card. And Marshall finally deigns to show up to work, though with the clear intention of not actually doing any.
Meat: deployed Marshall: impressed Me: ...those two ARE dating, and moreover communicating in a secret code of boxed lunches. It suits them.
"Steak filet lunch" apparently signals "render all assistance". Marshall willingly admits he's a grade-A slacker and doesn't even bother to understand the security system. (That explains the lasso.) He still doesn't want to tell us what the SL-9 case was about, but reminds us it was officially closed two days ago on evidence transfer day.
(That's the key to everything that happened on the day of the murder, isn't it? Goodman took the knife (and maybe more?) from the evidence room to keep it from being permanently "archived". He was killed for it - but someone protected it by hiding it in the car muffler, and now it's in the court record. That knife must be the key to solving SL-9. ...And that's why Gant showed up at the courtroom! He must be *so pissed* that this deadly piece of evidence is back in the public eye, it's a real danger to him. Okay! Now I have the shape of what we're dealing with.)
Marshall hasn't bothered to look at the security tape, but from what Meekins told us, other officers have. (Wait. Is that a safe assumption? Since all that matters is Gant's official talking points. they could simply be claiming the tape shows Meekins stabbed Goodman. I'd say this was implausible but I live in the US in 2020. )
Ooh, this looks useful - a list of every use of the card reader on the day in question. 4 different IDs are recorded. 2 of them must belong to Goodman and Meekins. One is nothing but sevens, that's certainly not ominous.
Next: the evidence room!

Rules: tag nine people you want to get to know better or catch up with, then answer these questions
Got tagged by @polarcell and I can’t sleep so let’s goooooooooooooo
Three ships: 1. Baze/Chirrut, fucking D U H. First fandom I’ve ever written fic for, made and met in real life fandom specific friends for, participated in an exchange for, participated in a fanbook for, just everything. I’m not kidding when I say this pairing changed me in a lot of ways. It is my Ultimate OTP. I think about it when I’m not thinking about other things, like a comfy screensaver for my brain. Also Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen are Big Handsome and I stand by that statement with a shotgun.
2. Jean Valjean/Javert which I’ve been obsessed with since the 2012 movie. Some of the most beautiful fics I’ve ever read were Valvert and they take up permanent real estate in my brain. Also you can see that pattern for my fav ships is “old men who have been thru a fucking lot thru the literal decades and are inextricably linked with each other.”
3. Narumitsu aka Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth has been a big one for me since I was like, what, 12? It led me to the Ace Attorney Kink Meme on LJ (which is still Capital L the size of Canada Legendary in my head because that son of a bitch is at 30something parts now it’s fucking insane) which led me to the sex/relationship advice column Savage Love which shaped a lot of how I view sex/kinks/etc.
Last song: I am motherfucking OBSESSED with this cover of Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer done by Pomplamoose. My friend described it as having the vibe of “that sappy kinda love and yearning that’ll hurt your stomach.” Which is My Most Favorite-ist of vibes as you can glean from my fics.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm2TceEwbak
Last movie: Ocean’s 12 with my friends, which is part 2 of the trilogy. I have only watched Ocean’s 8 (the lesbians one) so I had absolutely no context for who anyone was. I surprisingly enjoyed it a lot! I thought from the reputation of the movie that it was just a slick heist movie but really it was very comedy of errors and hilarious character dynamics. Plot is dumb popcorn-bait, but I wasn’t disappointed.
Currently craving: Nothing because I just ate 7 slices of pizza and I am mildly regretting my choices right now.
Currently reading: I just read Armageddon???, part 1 of The Salvation War series which is a story posted on an alternate universes thread on a history/politics forum I found via TV Tropes, the rabbit hole of all rabbit holes. It’s a story about “What if God declared Heaven closed and all the humans on Earth condemned to Hell, and Satan swoops in to destroy humanity?” The answer is humanity says “Fuck that shit!” and curb stomps Hell with our superior firepower, and then we turn our ass-kicking iron sights on Heaven. Very very very heavy on the description of weapons and military vehicles (author is a military analyst) but enjoyable read.

People portraying Edgeworth as a posh, suave gentleman will never not be funny to me. Edgeworth is like Mr Darcy; he has no idea how to flirt and spends every social interaction overanalysing every single thing that gets said. And then he never confesses his feelings ever because in spite of a rampant superiority complex he thinks Phoenix is way out of his league.
That's my headcanon, and I'm right.

okay but why would Phoenix ever wear a waistcoat and a watch chain if he wasn't married to Edgeworth? Like c'mon
This man wore fucking socks and sliders to court and you think he suddenly got 100% better fashion taste of his own accord as soon as he got his badge back?

you’re telling me Phoenix forgot-to-turn-the-paper-over Wright and Miles didn’t-notice-the-body-in-his-car Edgeworth are supposed to realise their feelings are reciprocated? I’ll put the kettle on this could take a while

if i were an Ace Attorney murderer I would just do an absolute fuckton of completely random shit to cover it up. i’m talking red paint on the curtains, meaningless coordinates written everywhere, seven different lethal weapons that don't match the crime left lying about. I'd ride a unicycle there and take a taxi home. I'd put a live goose in the same room as the victim. I'd disguise myself as the fucking president. they only have three days to solve this shit. Good luck figuring my logic out when I have none buckaroo

I was tagged by @inthearmsofathief to do this OTP challenge so here y’all go ^^
Choose 5 OTPs without looking at the questions first.
Sterek (Teen Wolf)
Merthur (BBC Merlin)
00Q (James Bond - particularly the newer films)
Corvosider (Dishonored)
Wrightworth (Ace Attorney)
1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 5?
Um, probably when Edgeworth said "Thanks to you I am saddled with unnecessary... feelings.”
2. Have you ever read a fan fiction about 2?
SO MUCH FANFICS!!!! I even went on livejournal (with no idea how to navigate it lol) and converted some of those fics to epubs because I was so desperate for more Merthur :p
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/Tumblr ID?
Nope. It’s kind of a tiny ship compared to the rest and as such, I’m a little less invested in it than I normally would be, but I love it so muuuuuch *sobs*
4. If 3 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be?
Probably exasperation because they get in SO MANY ARGUMENTS that result in “break up”s (and after one or two rounds of little to no equipment, Bond would come back with his tails between his legs and all would be well again)
5. Why is 1 so important?
BECAUSE I LOVE THEM SO GODDAMN MUCH???????? I LOVE HOW VERSATILE THE CHARACTERS ARE, I LOVE HOW YOU CAN JUST FIT ANY AU ONTO THEM, I LOVE HOW IT’S A TRAGIC LOVE STORY, I LOVE ALL THEIR CANON MOMENTS, I LOVE THAT STILES IS DEREK’S ANCHOR, I LOVE THAT DEREK IS A CANON NERD, I JUST LOVE THEM SO MUCH
6. Is 4 a funny ship or a serious ship?
... Well, I mean, it consists of an assassin and a God, so there’s little funny about that. I particularly love how fucking twisted and dubious this pairing can be so yeah, pretty serious.
7. Out of all your ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
OH MAN THIS QUESTION HURTS ME??????? WHAT HTE HELL???????? I’m sorry Sterek I love you but I honestly think I have to go with Merthur because they’re actual canon soulmates and I mean. Nothing trumps that. Nothing
8. Of all the ships, which ship has the strongest bond?
FUCK MAN????????? WHY YOU GOTTA DO THIS TO ME???????? I think that has to be Merthur again, honestly... They continually risk their lives for each other, see each other every day and are so... comfortable with each other it’s ridiculous. Arthur shows Merlin a side of himself that no one else ever sees and just... how is this not canon...
9. How many times have you read/watched 2’s fandom?
Lmao it’s basically all I’ve been watching recently???? It’s just such a damn good show, with good characters and Good Gays
10. Which ship lasted the longest?
You mean, as in, it has been around longest? ‘Cause that’d have to be Wrightworth :p
11. How many times, if ever, has 5 broken up?
NEVER!!!!! THEY ARE THE ULTIMATE SAPPY LAWYER DADS!!!!!! I guess you could say they “broke up” after Edgeworth moved away, but that doesn’t count ‘cause they were Small Gays back then
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 1 or 3?
WHAT IS IT WITH THESE QUESTIONS AND ME HAVING TO PICK BETWEEN SHIPS????? I CAN’T DO THIS????? No seriously this is literally impossible to answer?? Derek is a werewolf which is pretty goddamn handy in a zombie apocalypse, but both Bond and Q are trained spies and can use basically anything as a weapon????? I DON’T KNOW FUCK
13. Did 4 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
Well, considering the Outsider is seen as the literal Devil in canon, Corvo can’t go around telling everyone he sucked the Outsider’s dick, now can he?
14. Is 5 still together?
LIKE I SAID, THEY ARE THE ULTIMATE SAPPY LAWYER DADS AND WILL NEVER BREAK UP AND LOVE EACH OTHER VERY MUCH AND RAISE THEIR DAUGHTER TO BE KIND. YOU CAN’T TAKE THIS AWAY FROM ME
15. Is 1 canon?
Literally none of these ships are canon what is wrong with you @ world????? But in my head Sterek’s canon and that’s all that counts to be honest :p
16. If all five ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
... Either Sterek or Merthur or 00Q or Corvosider????? They’re legit all skilled in killing/taking down others lol. Sorry though @ Phoenix and Edgeworth, I don’t think yelling “OBJECTION” is gonna help in the Hunger Games
17. Has anyone ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship?
What does that even mean?????????? Well, literally everyone’s in love with Edgeworth (including me) but “sabotaging”? Nah...
18. Which ship(s) would you defend to the death and beyond?
FUCKING ALL OF THEM. Mostly Sterek and Merthur BUT ALL OF THEM
19. Have you ever spent hours a day going through 3’s tumblr page?
... Yes
20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the five ships to break up forever, which ship would you sink?
This question... hurts... my soul..................................
(I think Corvosider though, purely because their relationship is kinda really unhealthy, bUT I NEED MY POOR ANGSTY MEN OKAY)
SO THAT WAS A FUCKING ORDEAL?????? Why would anyone ask me those questions?????? I’m so fucked up right now?????
Anyway, I tag: @clotpolesonly - @lena221b - @pale-silver-comb - @benaya-trash
#isaac talks#i love all of these so much fuck#long post for ts#sterek#merthur#00q#corvosider#wrightworth

Hey you dont need to tag two of my blogs.
Anyway, Edgeworth would get way too into it. He'd just be like
"can we examine the body? We could narrow down the weapon. These wounds are all INCREDIBLY different"
"Do we have any Luminol?"
"DOES MR GREEN HAVE AN ALIBI"
Edgeworth obviously plays as professor plum
Aa characters play clue and then question their life choices
