However#the group I was with before was very much not one for roleplaying most of the time so the previous charas never got any development#xi was my second character for a cos game after my og one died to the windmill hags and dm ruled the were supposed to be soulless#but in trying to play them like that I accidentally got really involved in figuring out their motivations and personality#and I developed them and they got sad when another party member died#and even after that game got tpk'd because the dm got bored xi sticked around in my head#and then I was invited to join a different cos campaign by online friends I had made and I decided to reuse them there#and now here we are 3 years later and we've beaten strahd but there's more bullshit afoot so we're still playing and I'm still playing them#all that is to say that xilant's very important to me ;u;

Here’s a messy pap concept!
I’ve been trying to make an undertale fnf mod that started off as a lil oneshot turned into a big idea LMAO
I’ve been sketching a lot of concepts for everything and this might be my 4th redraw of pap LOL I’m trying to like match the sprites with the vibes in the songs I made for them. And yes I’m composing everything for it! I do have 6 songs down, 2 main songs, 1 oneshot song, 2 cutscene and 1 game over track, and (optionally) a pause theme. I only need one more main song to technically finish the week but i’ve been basically stalling because i got no idea how to start it off LMAO. I miiiight hire some vas for them LATER THOUGH! I am in NO position to start asking people to work for me. Honestly I’d only be looking for coders and maybe someee ui artists? depends on how big I want it to be.

OC-tober Day 4: Redesign

A continuation of yesterday's, let's talk about the Sages' many redesigns! But first: some redraws :3c

Full ramble under the cut. Read more at your own risk, it is long.
The Sages got their most recent redesigns in 2021. My main focus was making the Sages more unique in their looks, so it's not entirely just recolors of Sage. This is also when I made them all non-human. Lets go down the line.

Again, theyre supposed to all be vaguely matchy. They all have bangs on the same side, they've all got some extra color at the ends of their hair, and they all have details under their eyes (freckles for Red, eyebags for Grey, scars for Yellow, blush for Blue). Aside from that, I kinda went wild with these versions.
The primary Sage's (Red Yellow and Blue) are all supposed to look very similar to Sage. Grey is the black sheep of the group, that should be clear on first glance. Red, though, is supposed to look the Most like Sage, because they have the most in common. The two are from similar time periods and, with the addition of Red being a werewolf, similar situations of hiding themselves. Being a werewolf also draws more attention to Red's anger issues, her original defining trait. It's really easy to tell when she's angry. Because she turns into a big dog. Older Red design had a red scarf across her midsection like a belt, because that's where her killing wound was. When I moved her wound to her heart (because its more poetic <3), the scarf came with! Technically, that dangling section is supposed to always cover her left side. I don't do that tho. ALSO as you may have noticed: Red used to be continually covered in blood. Her new design is less murderous, so that got removed, but I kept a subtle reference to it in her hair. Like really subtle. Here's a close up.

Anne (Grey's past life) was only given a design in 2019, for the Labyrinth OCT, based off of Grey's old design. Then when I redesigned Grey, I actually based her more off of Anne. Real telephone game going on. Stuff like the wrist/ankle scars just came from Anne's design. For this version of her, I flattened out her hair near the top to better resemble Sage and the others' hairstyles. It also looks pretty :3 Her full lore about what she is is.... so complicated. It's not important. She's a special type of ghost that makes her grayscale ok. I only made her skin pale instead of pure grey because it helps her stand out from Anne. Anne for reference:

Yellow got the most emo hairstyle of them all, which I think is funny, because she's also the oldest and most well-adjusted. This is when I moved her eye injury to her right side, so I can cover it up and not draw it. I generally just had a lot of problems with Yellow's eyes. I hated drawing glasses realistically, it was the main thing that kept me from drawing Yellow more on previous designs, so I decided to go full cartoon this time. And man I love it. Yellow is an elf btw, specifically from a modern fantasy 1960s-ish. Her main design inspo has always been "librarian" and I love to lean into it, BUT. This design was where I started letting her be a badass too. Hence the mysterious scars. Plus her conspiratorial streak and her wedding ring? God I made her so cool. Best redesign of the set.
And finally, a robot!! Originally, Blue was my excuse for memes and references. They were a gamer. They were a 4th wall breaker. I changed that last one for this design, meta powers revoked. But I let them keep the gamer references by making them from the future. Blue used to be just Some Teen Ghost, which was boring and realistic. I wanted them to have a full job and backstory. So I made them a fnaf reference. To emphasize the roboticness, I started drawing their hair goofy and blocky. I also switched their method of death from hanging to gunshot, to match all the others. Plus, I don't think hanging a robot would work. This moved their wound to their head, but again, hey I don't wanna draw a fucked up eye wound all the time. Solution: robot-based memory problems! Blue already had a thing for ignoring negative emotions, so it only makes sense they'd block out their own death. Their eye's still not entirely functional, though.
Hey, they weren't in yesterday's post, but let's talk about Violet too! Violet has always been a thing with the Sages, and funny enough, their name was always Violet. What exactly they are, though, has changed so many times. With this redesign, I offically made them Blue's "alter ego" (it fit with the fnaf references). Think of it as Blue but with all of those nasty memories. That means you get to see the eye wound on this one! They're also missing their ear on that side. And a solid chunk of their head.

These are my oldest ocs and I care about them so much. I put so much thought into these. I'm happy I finally get to type this all out. Here's a direct comparison of their hair and skin colors, look at the detail i put into this.
Blue's is technically just desaturated cause that's what mixing blue with orange does.

Technically Mix Girl was my first Sona. She was a super hero who had to fight her semi opposite. So I redrew her and her enemy basing it off my modern (at the time) self. Maybe I should redraw her in her original form. I remember it but I could also find the original drawing of her from when I was in like 3rd grade? Possibly 4th or 5th? Idk if the 3rd grade drawing one survived but I know the 5th grade one did. I should find it and redraw it. Good old sona. Inspired by shark boy and lava girl. Yup

Oops, that wasn’t my ask was it? *scrolls down* double oops, IT WAS :0 now I only said that cause from my impression of things, from the beginning people were only interested in the Todoroki's and interest in Endeavor sky-rocketed because of Hawks, it took awhile for his redemption to garner interest, but EndHawks? 100% sold. Because that's rough and tough Endy having funny interactions with his co-worker, it's a new look on him. That's what I personally meant by "Convinced Hawks won 4th in 2018 cuz of Endy simps" that it was less Hawks himself, and more what Hawks could do for Endeavor, and it's just a jokish conspiracy anyway, that technically could be true too. It IS something that happens with fans of other anime. People have their favorite, and then there's the "favorite's friend." Anyways Foxy, I think anon is a hurt Endy stan, not sure why, but I never thought I'd have to avoid all Endy stans as I do Dabi and Twice stans too, apparently if they're wild enough to get Caleb chased off Twitter over a swear word, then whatever this is too apparently??? There's nothing weird about what you said either, fans can and DO vote for characters they find hot?? Fan service goes a long way??? I wasn't trying to be "whiny" in my asks, just genuinely, well and truly baffled because I thought cool character moments helped ranks in the poll, like Ochako's speech and Iida's hand-holding carried them all this way. Until I realized people might've thought Endeavor, who Hori's been mostly drawing as I described before, was a cool character moment for him. I really don't care if the students rank higher than Hawks, the rankings haven't been an issue, I know he's controversial, and the kids have always been well-loved that's normal, they always rank-high regardless of screentime, (aka none of them ever really show up lol) it's just Endeavor was too yet being 4th makes him 1st essentially as TodoBakuDeku aren't budging, and that's what was shocking. And idk what you mean by bringing up Shindo, nobody here said anything on him??? All I know is that fandom wanted Shinsou or Dabi to take his place. "antipathy" "truth" WHAT are you on about?? Who are you even talking to for saying "no Hawks stan has a valid reason for their intense dislike of Kaminari" I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT. TUMBLR HAS BEEN DEAD FOR CONVERSATIONS FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. What truth??? That Shindo stans troll-voted for him for funsies? Hey good for them, that's wild dedication. The fact that anon came back before I could respond to this ask just shows us that they were, indeed, a salty Endeavor stan (sadly you have a bad batch of favs for every character T-T).
I don't even know why they overreacted to a vent that, outside of this blog, doesn't reach anyone (I doubt even my followers take the time to read every ask I answer XD).
I'm not even sure they knew what they were writing when they sent that ask (and then the next one) because a lot of it is very hard to make out. Or they aren't fluent English speaking and struggled to translate their thoughts into English (which could be a possibility too).
You know what's funny about the simping comment though was that it was used in their next ask to say that's why we like Hawks. I wonder if they noticed that they just defeated their own argument XD
Anyway, it was a wild ride, that's for sure.

Happy Pride!
I did start this at the beginning of June, but it took forever.
I had the idea for Tonks changing her hair to pride colours, and I just had to! Charlie and Tulip joined her because aro/ace Charlie is like, basically canon, and Tulip and Tonks are just wonderful chaos. (And also an wonderful ship). I couldn’t make up my mind about Tulip’s flags, so I made it easy for me to swap out and made more versions (alternates and more ramblings under the cut!)
The weird sisters shirt is a bunch of very shrunk down stock images of rock band silhouettes. So the figures are technically not my art. I spent so long doing this, and then remembered I wanted her shirt to have people on it and so I got lazy.
I’m still not happy with Tulip’s face but this is the 3rd or 4th redraw of her face so… it’s the one I’m sticking with.
The buttons (that aren’t obviously flags) are supposed to be pronouns buttons in house colours! I’ve drawn up a really fast reference picture for them (it’s below the alternates) but they’re verrry simple because they were tiny! I just put various pronouns on the example bc I'll probably give them to more characters
Someday I’ll draw more pride drawings, including more of the poc characters, and characters I hc as nb. (Rowan, Corey, and FPK coming at ya… eventually)

I wanted to do this for the blog's first anniversary but then completely forgot about it lol.
The following lists are all in chronological order according to the date each post was first published.

#1: Don and Gilda - Chapter 138: Demon serch (1)

My very first redraw from my very first edit posted here, so it deserves an honorable mention. Back then I was young and inexperienced, I didn't even apply a gray filter (lmao I was so unskilled I even unintentionally scratched the picture, I hadn't realized until today). I'm actually very happy my first redraw was of Don, boy deserves all the love.
#2: Emma and Ray - Chapter 140: I’m Here!

Back then this looked like so much work to me!!! And to this day, I think it turned out pretty well. I'm particularly proud of how the bow turned out. This is one I was really proud of right after having finished it; it gave me the confidence to try redrawing bigger areas. Also, the edit were I first applied the opacity of layer / opacity of brush for the gray filter that would have stuck with me.

#4: Emma, Norman and Ray - Chapter 153: Coward

Probably the single panel redraw I'm the most proud of. That Norman panel was beautiful and very poignant at the end of a chapter I adored, so I believe it deserved all the time I've spent working on it. It's far from being perfect - the back of his head is too plain, and the difference between my brushes and the original brushes is pretty visible - but I still like it very much and am extremely attached to it. The horn looks kinda big but I honestly believe it to be more of an issue with the original than with what I had redrawn lol. Funny enough, the whole picture didn't make it to the final edit and had to be trimmed.

I remember after finishing this I felt so powerful, like now that I had redrawn this thing I would have been able to redraw anything I set my mind on lol.

Thank you @neverlandstrio for your support, you may not remember but it really meant a lot to me back then! And it still makes me smile. You're the best!!!!!!
#2: Mujika and Queen Legravalima - Chapter 158: The Reason I Was Born

This whole edit was an hella wild ride. It's midnight before a school day, when I think: "Mh, it's been a while since I last made an edit, why not make one about Musica and the queen from the last chapter?" And seven hours after this was born. I'm particularly proud of the queen's redraws on the 3rd, 7th and 9th picture (ofc), the areas which have been redrawn are pretty huge yet I think the difference with the original is almost impossible to notice?? @Redrawing skills where did you go please come back (part 2)
#3: Emma - Chapter 174: A New World (part 1)

I think the panels that were selected work very well together, especially considering the close-up / full body alternation. I love Emma, and I've always been kinda sad noticing that edits that focus one her take the less notes... She deserves all the love. Also, fun fact: for the last but one panel, I had redrawn Emma's whole left ear before remembering she doesn't have one, so I had to redraw the panel from the start. Besides from the error with the ear, the reason why this (and all the others after) took so long is because official panel take way longer to clean.
#4: Isabella and her children - Chapter 177: Mother

Lmao tbh I can't understand how this has so few notes it's like. Technically speaking, probably the best edit I've ever done. I don't even like Isabella that much, I haven't got the slightlest idea why I decided to spend so many hours on this. Anyway, I find the composition (full body on the left / headshots on the right) really good looking in this as well! And I think the redraws turned out fine, especially Isabella's.
#5: The Promised Neverland manga ending countdown→ 1/7 chapters: chapter 1 - Grace Field House

I don't know how I came up with that idea for the composition but I find it really beautiful??? I think it does a pretty good job conveying the sudden, terrific shift of atmosphere from the first chapter, and I think that sharp bridge is very nice. I'm very, very proud of this.

A very good chapter, and the edit turned out surprisingly amazing??? All the redraws look great and make it almost impossible to distinguish them from the original; honestly I feel like I'll never be able to redraw so neatly again lol.

That one is really one of my favorite scenes; I'm telling you peoples, Gilda and Don are a blessing to the earth. I think I've never mentioned it, but Gilda's hair is a nightmare to redraw??? I was so glad to finally be able to make a Norman / Ray edit, and it turned out it was just in time before the series' finale. I like how it turned out and I'm pretty satisfied with the redraws (even though my sister helped me with the lineart of some panels - it was exams time and I really couldn't afford to spend more time on it), too bad we didn't have more chapters that focused on the boys. Ray sweetie one day I'll fix your ear it's just today's not that day.
Btw, I justed realized I have never done an Emma / Norman centered edit? I'll have to make one eventually. I remember considering focusing on them alone for the chapter 154 one, but then I thought "even if the manga is gonna ignore Ray, I will chose to do not" lol.

I just had really a lot of fun doing it. I love putting all the little things to their own place, it's so calming to do and that's why I love making this kind of things. Also, loved how @temporoom contributed to the post! I REALLY LOVE IT! I mean it *was* kinda stressing to note everything, but it was very also very satisfying to see everything methodically divided and organized! And it's not just that– it's also the fact that it looks good. That's one post I have fun rereading because it's actually pretty! Also, even though it can be very stressing to learn to use new programs and sites, it's always very satisfying to look at the final result. Again, I really adore compiling these tiny little details! I would love to make more posts of that kind if i had the time.

Monday 26th of sept
Today was our first lesson of the new unit. After looking at the film list previously I realised that I would probably go with a series of unfortunate events as my chosen film, just because I loved it as a child and have a lot of personal connection with it, as well as enjoying how beautiful all the sets were. After my meeting with Claire I researched some of the other sets and rewatched the film 12 monkeys. I really enjoyed the dystopian facility sets and considered recreating those but instead I finally decided on the aunts house from a series of unfortunate events because I like the way it shows the house being ripped apart by the hurricane.
Tuesday 27th of sept
Due to being quite unwell to make it into the studio, I decided to complete some more research into the set I chose. I started to collect some screen grabs on a pinterest board and worked on a sketch of the house. I really struggled to get the right screengrabs for my film as there aren't many screenshots of Aunt Josephine's house online and the behind the scenes of the set as all the sets were built in the Paramount studios. Therefore I struggled to guess measurements for heights of certain items.
Wednesday 28th
Today we started to relearn the sketchup software. After struggling with the software in the previous unit I was excited to learn more about it and use it in this unit's final submission. The sketchup software itself had fairly simple features at first and was quite fiddly. We were asked to prepare a homework task which i did after the lesson and through following the guides created a house. A problem I ran into during the task was not being able to get the holes through the windows to fully push in. After receiving some helpful feedback from a fellow classmate I realised this was down to having a gap in the walls geometry somewhere which is how blender and sketchup are similar. Later in Paul's lesson we created concept art for an art deco themed item. I chose to create a forklift as I was obsessed with the film robots as a child which had a lot of art deco themes within the industrial environment which I loved. Therefore I took a lot of inspiration into the robot's character design to inspire my forklift.
Tuesday the 4th october- white card model and corridor
Today's lesson I got to catch up with creating my corridor technical drawing. In a previous lesson I'd missed taking the measurements so this was what I worked on today. I then started to create the basic floorplan for my corridor. I've realised that I tend to struggle with accuracy when it comes to measurement taking and find myself changing measurements i previously noted to fit my idea of what looked right which I stopped doing once I realised my corridor floor plan was wrong and having to redraw. In a later lesson we practised white card model making using a technical drawing. This was a fun process but very fiddly, however I hope I will have this down by my final submission.
Wednesday 5th october - sketchup and modelmaking
I struggled to join the team's meeting so instead I watched the old recording after the meeting to brush up on my understanding of the software. Due to the formative assessment on Tuesday I decided to work on getting overall measurements for my technical drawing for the set I chose. To do this I used an image of the outside of the set to gauge the measurements for the floor plan. This was good in the sense I had a better understanding of the house but bad in the sense that parts of the external house wouldn't match up with the original internal set.
Monday 10th of october-
Today was a day of preparation for Tuesday's presentation. In the morning I worked on creating my technical drawing. This didn't have to be completely accurate and more had to represent my previous measurements that were based on some heights but a lot of assumptions. I then got to photocopy my drawing and make my model outside of class. I struggled more with the modelmaking than I thought I would as I don't think my blades were the right size for the board I was cutting. This meant the edges were rougher and more jagged in my final building so by the final submission I will make sure to buy sharper scalpel blades.
Tuesday- 11th of october- presentation
This morning we had our presentations. It was nice to see what previous classmates were working on and the layouts of their presentations. I realised a lot more classmates had provided previous documentation of work being done inside of the lesson. I was very critical of my final model and floor plan as I realised there were a lot of elements not taken into account which I would have to address before the final submission.
Wednesday 12th oct sketchup staircase- after the mornings online sketchup lesson i read through, I decided to address some of the problems within the original building by altering my measurements and starting to think of the way the roof is laid out within my building. After my presentation me and Claire both realised my ceiling height was off, but I could use this to account for the roof pieces I didn't previously include. Therefore I decided to replan and change all of my measurements for the house, to also account for the steeped walls.
Thursday 13th oct- after receiving my feedback from Claire about my presentation I decided to start a new technical drawing with the scales I felt were right. I used the book provided to help lay everything out more professionally.
Friday- 14th of october- I felt a bit better today and decided to visit the south london gallery to see the simeon barclay exhibition. Simeon specialises in architectural multimedia practice and I was interested in how he would use the space in the south London gallery. His exhibition ‘in the name of the father’ draws themes from his relationship to his father who worked as a tailor and an attempt to understand the relationship between people and place. I personally loved the exhibition as I really like the large scale pieces which essentially acted as props within the giant gallery. He puts a lot of thought into story and placement as the largest piece of art, a giant boulder with a rooster placed almost comically on the tip is all you can see as you walk straight into the gallery, almost like a blockade to the other works.
Wednesday- 19th oct
Today I had the exciting opportunity to be on the set of a face magazine shoot. I got to converse and network with the set builders, stylists and other models during the whole process which was really fun. I had a better understanding of how a professional shoot is set out, the space left for photography equipment and lighting setups. I also got to see the DOP reel, the massive film reels into the camera as the entire thing was shot on film. It was a really enlightening insight into the industry and I made some good connections.
Saturday- due to the presentation on monday, on saturday morning before work i decided to come into uni and work more on my technical drawing, adding details to my walls and even decided to bring the drawing board home so i could work on my technical drawing on sunday when uni wasn't open.
Monday 24th oct- presentation
My presentation was on Monday morning. Albeit there was a lot missing for my final submission and the way that my presentation differed from everyone elses was that most people had a nearly finished technical drawing and had started their sketchup models already. My technical drawing was taking me a lot longer than I thought it would due to the overall large size of the set. I used the rest of the day to work on my technical drawing.
Wednesday 26th- today was spent working on my sketchup submission. I'd left this quite late in the project as I had focused a lot of my time into making my final technical drawing. Claire helped me to start to fully understand the software and by the end I had a sketch of my set. I didn't realise how many problems i would run into while building my model and ended up having a lot of problems i couldn't fix in the end such as my window pieces geometry was broken so i couldn't copy it to the other walls as there were gaps in the windows i couldn't remove. I also got to realise all the problems with my technical drawing that would affect my final submission, such as missing pieces in the roof and sides to account for the steepness in the walls.

I've been following you guys for about a year and I've been wondering... How did PSI Scans come to be? What made the you decide to start the group? Do you still have all the members you started out with?... Etc. I'd just like to know more about the history behind your group, if you're ok with talking about it.

We've just passed the two year mark from when this group was first created- so here's a timeline of PSI Scans history under the break:
Late October, 2015: eyfey received an anonymous message saying:
"A small (and by small i mean BIG) part of me wants you to translate saiki kusuo cause nobody's donating for it on spinyback to get translated (no i don't have the money to donate either) but that be dependent on whether YOU want to do it"
SpinyBackTeam was the group scanlating Saiki at the time, but it had been months since their last release, and no one was sure when the next release was coming out, if ever.
eyfey said they'd be on board to do translations if someone else would handle redrawing/typesetting.
October 27th, 2015Shortly after that message, seirui and milaza contacted eyfey, and the three of them formed a team and began working on chapters.
Sadly neither seirui or milaza stayed around past the first couple releases- leaving eyfey as the only founding member who's still currently working on the scanlations. Without seirui and milaza though, this group never would've been created and we never would've made it to where we are today
Late November, 2015At some point as we were working on the chapters, Spinyback re-did their website and ended up removing Saiki completely. We thought they had dropped the series for sure at this point, so we kept working at our slow slow pace.
December 9th, 2015Before we could make our first release, SpinyBack released a new chapter out of the blue! We has 4 chapters translated at this point and weren't sure whether or not to continue with the scanlation or just give up and let SpinyBack handle it... We decided to wait and see if they would start updating more regularly.
December 24th, 2015 Just for fun, eyfey solo'd chapter 33 for a special christmas release. (SpinyBack still hadn't released any new chapters since the one at the beginning of the month)
December 29th, 2015Spannersq joined the team to help with cleaning! (and did basically all the cleans for - Spannersq is still on the team today!)
SpinyBack still hadn't released any new chapters, so we decided to just go ahead and do it ourselves. (I still regret not messaging SpinyBack about it though. It didn't occur to me at the time, but it hindsight it was pretty rude to just start on a project someone else was already working on... we just desperately wanted people to be able to read more of this amazing manga.)
December 31st, 2015This was the day Spannersq came up with the name PSI Scans for our group! With a name we were finally ready to release some chapters!
Janurary 5th, 2016Our first official release! After 3 months of uncertainty, we finally released chapter 31~ ...in pretty poor quality. At this time, we were using low quality magazine scans as our raws and no one on the team really had any experience with cleaning or redraws.
Luckily! Shortly after our release, Otafreek joined us: bringing high-res raws and informative typesetting/cleaning guides, causing the quality of our scans to skyrocket. Otafreek also had raws for volume 0, so we were able to go back and translate those chapters as well.
...and that's not all! We also got another new member that day: Snazzyhelmet! Who joined as a translator!
Otafreek only stuck around for a chapter or so, but Snazzyhelmet has been doing translations ever since and is still one of our current active translators!
January 15th, 2016We released the first chapter of volume 0: our first high quality chapter!
March 26th, 2016No new chapters yet... eyfey and snazzyhelmet had been keeping up with translations (we were already done with vol0 and about 6 chapters into vol4) but unfortunately life had gotten busy for both Spannersq and Otafreek. Spannersq ended up taking a break for about a month, and Otafreek retired completely. In their absense eyfey took over typesetting, purchasing/scanning raws, and cleaning/redrawing.
March 28th, 2016We released the 2nd chapter of vol0! This was also the end of month long gaps between releases.
May 2nd, 2016The Saiki anime was announced! Spannersq was back cleaning at full speed and we'd been keeping up a steady release speed (about one chapter per week)
May 7th, 2016Le joined the team as our new typsetter, and took care of typesetting for most of the chapters in volume 4 + the first half of vol5 before retiring~
May 15th, 2016As we were getting close to the end of vol4, we decided to go back and re-do the first couple chapters of vol4 before starting on vol5 - it meant a few more weeks without "new" chapters, but this way we could have decent quality versions of all our releases.
This was also the day a Meho7 very generously donated raws for vol 7-8~
May 20th, 2016Misterquire joined as a redrawer - providing us with beautiful beautiful redraws for many months, but eventually retiring ;v;
July 4th, 2016The anime was released! This doesn't really have anything to do with the manga scanlation, but hype was up and the number of Saiki fans was increasing! (the anime managed to overtake us pretty fast though, and soon it was releasing episodes of stuff we hadn't translated yet TvT )
June 8th-9th, 2016Sroa joined as our 2nd designated redrawer, and a day later LAR joined as a cleaner! (Sroa was a huge help with redraws for the next couple months until they retired, and LAR is still an active cleaner today!)
July 16th, 2016Teleport-teapot joined as our 3rd redrawer! They brought us beautiful, fast redraws for months until they eventually retired~
July 18th, 2016Nashi joined and took over typesetting for Le and has been creating beautiful typesets for us ever since~(Nashi is currently one of our two active typesetters.)
July 20th, 2016Kamo joined as a 3rd translator- working hard until January, when they had to take a 10 month hiatus for computer problems, but that hiatus has just ended and now Kamo is back as one of our current active translators!
August 3rd, 2016Six joined as a translator, stuck around for a handful of chapters, and disappeared as mysteriously as they came~
August 19th, 2016On this day: Sisselwolfgang and maou-shoujo joined the team as beautiful beautiful beautiful redrawers. This truly was a golden age of redrawing for PSI Scans TvT
Sisselwolfgang worked for a good long time before eventually needing to take a break from scanlation, but Maou-shoujo is still consistently creating godlike redraws with us today!
October 31st, 2016Dollyl joined the team as a second typesetter, bringing gorgeous speedy typesets to us all~ Dollyl is still typesetting today alongside Nashi as one of our 2 current active typesetters!
At this point, we'd also passed the one year mark for the group! In that first year, we'd made it all the way to chapter 65- meaning we finished about 45 chapters total, if you include vol0 + the one shots~
To compare that with the previous groups working on Saiki: DarkMurmur = 11 chapters per year (2 years to finish the first 22 chapters)SpinyBackTeam = 12 chapters per year (technically they only did 8 chapters, but their pace averaged out to about one chapter per month)
So we were working at a pretty good speed- especially considering that we didn't actually release anything for the first couple months, haha.
November 22nd-23rd, 2016Miyo-sai joined the team as a translator, and Toumikasa joined as a cleaner!
Miyo-sai stuck around and translated a handful of chapters before moving on in life, but Toumikasa is still working as one of our active cleaners today!
Dec 15, 2016Ichi joined the team as a redrawer! They did a number of redraws over the next couple months before going on indefinite hiatus~
January 1st 2017,We decided to make the switch from ouph to offu starting in vol 9- since the author released a chapter with it spelled out as OFFU in English. So long ouph~ You will be missed~
April 1st + 11th, 2017Ykun and Jeddle joined as a translators! Both of them are still translating with us today!
May 10th, 2017Rupali joined as a redrawer- by this point maou-shoujo was the only other active redrawer.
Rupali is still with the group today, but is on a sort of semi-hiatus while they're busy.
May 22nd, 2017sefway3 joined as a redrawer! They're one of our few current active redrawers!
June 16th, 2017We finally reached the last chapter that was featured in the anime ;v; (almost a year after the anime first aired)
July 22nd, 2017peaceful-waldeinsamkeit joined the team as a redrawer! Hooray!
September 4th, 2017vulpi111 joined as a cleaner! Hurrah!
September 10th, 2017femalecorpse joined as a redrawer! Huzzah!
Peaceful-waldeinsamkeit, vulpi111, and femalecorpse are all still active members of the team today~
And that brings us to where we are today! We've just passed the two year mark of when the group was founded, and we've just released our 142nd chapter (including oneshots + omake chapters).
It's also worth mentioning, there are many many more members not on this list that have joined and left our team over the years: Some only doing one or two chapters before moving on, some who have joined recently but haven't started working yet, and some who joined and then left without ever finishing their first chapter...
Scanlating is hard work and it takes up a lot of time, plus most people who work on manga like this are also trying to balance school and/or jobs, so it takes a very dedicated person to be able to start scanlating and then stick with it. But even those who only finished one or two chapters before needing to retire were a huge help to getting us to where we are today! (but if I listed all of them this list would be way too long, so we're sticking to just the people who stuck around a little longer for now~)
But yeah! That's the history of this group!There's still a little over 100 chapters left to go, and more coming out every week, so it looks like we've still got at least another year at this rate before we catch up (though that could be much much sooner if we got more redrawers and translators...) But in any case, we'll keep doing our best to work hard until the day all of Saiki Kusuo has been translated into English!

U.S. BLUES
Some people dislike Christmas... or Thanksgiving... Some people don’t care about Halloween... I think we all dislike Valentine’s Day, even if you’re with someone... Some people really take exception to National Pin Day. The 4th of July is that holiday for me, and I’m just trying to figure out why. I’m not like Tom Cruise in Born on the Fourth, a bitter vet having wheelchair fights with people. It’s not like New Year’s Eve where everyone kisses their partner at midnight and I’ve always without exception looked with concern at my nails. I like both ketchup and mustard as condiments, so where’s the problem? I think the problem may be the most misanthropic and most obvious one -- people. Thinking more about it, this pen a-quiver in my hand, I want them to put their shirts back on, stop lighting off fireworks, and go back to their jobs. I really just want people to be at their jobs so I can have no trouble going out and getting coffee, in a nice relaxed peace and quiet, feeling that hum of people working, or pretending to work while they read articles online about the new best way to shave their legs and Lil Bow Wow. These are the same people who find it impossible to respond to texts and be even a quarter of the way reliable? Put your shirts back on, go back to your jobs. Sorry, maybe I am a little like wheelchair Cruise. (It is kind of convenient though that people always don’t respond or blow me off because at this point I really do just like hanging out by myself, going to get food by myself, listening to music by myself.) But think of all this country affords me. Like, I have a car. I have no business having a car. What have I done to earn a car? And I have TWO of them. (Technically I own zero cars but I have access to four different cars.) It would be pretty hard to go get coffee, float along listening to music, if I didn’t have a car. And I can go out right now and get ANY food I want. I go to the grocery store and can decide between five different kinds of tomato soup. I can go to the pharmacy and get band-aids with Spongebob Squarepants on them. And yet I don’t want to celebrate the country’s birthday? I find that problematic? Is it because we are the children of colonialists, basically imperialists? We gave diseased blankets to people and now we’re lighting off fireworks to celebrate that? We enslaved a race of other people and brought them here and fought a whole terrible war over it and now we call them lazy, we say they’re living off the government? I’m living off the government! You’re living off the government! We’re all living off the government! And the government is living off China supposedly, so put that in your tobacca pipe and smoke it, Johnny Reb. (Sorry to keep redrawing old battle lines.) On the morning of the holiday I saws a side-by-side comparison of the tweet from last year’s President on this day (offering condolences on the passing of Elie Wiesel and praising him as a humanitarian) and this year’s (a blurry picture of his red fondue of hair almost up in flames, looking like he was about to choke on a microphone, hashtagging CNN as fake news). Can I also blame that on the people who are bad at communicating and always blow me off? Ah, I stubbed my toe! Damn you people. If everyone starts being really reliable and showing up for everything, I don’t know what I would do. Probably run away. But the state of the union is... dicey. Just how everyone likes it. My friend who is a vet once described America as a “drama bitch” you can’t ever leave, partly because you like the drama. A very apt description in my eyes. I know all politicians lie but maybe I just don’t want them to seem like a complete asshole when they lie? Like Sheryl Crow sang, “Liiiiiiee to me, I promise... I’ll believe.” I have even a problem looking at the flag today, which makes me sad. I didn’t realize it until the 4th. I get much more comfort looking at the LGBTQ flag. The red, white, and blue is trying to keep people from the Middle East out? They invented math, man. This whole humanity thing, we’re all in this together. Your people, your clan, moved to a cloudier climate and you got whiter and now you want to look back and say you don’t like those darker people? They discovered, they created, the original designs, man. The good of your soul doesn’t depend on keeping them out but in fact on letting them in. I WANT YOU... to shut the fuck up. Sorry, I just wanted to write that. My dud, bad feelings surrounding the 4th may also be for as simple a reason as that hot dogs make me uncomfortable. That could be a big part of it, flying under the radar. But I think mostly it’s that when people get up for things, I get down. I want to hide from the sun. I like routine, I take great comfort in it. I wonder why all these people aren’t at work. Put all the hot dogs away. For nothing can come to any good anymore. Sorry, I think that last line was Auden. If people could just all go back to their jobs and not respond to my texts and be prejudiced in the comfort of their own homes, I think I would feel a lot better. “Summertiiiime, come and goooone, my oh MY!”

Mapping, History, and Data Science
I came across an interesting article by Jeff Sisson on the BetaNYCSlack Group the other day investigating how a section of Queens most people would probably indentify as Maspeth ended up getting labeled "Haberman" on Google Maps. The conclusion he arrived at, while not 100% confirmed, does seem likely and serves as a reminder that our data is only as good as we are, the topic of this week's Moment of Inertia. "There will probably never be a year in which no one dies in an aviation accident, but there will definitely never be a year in which 10 percent of the global population dies in a single plane crash. Yet that could happen with a supervolcano, an asteroid strike or a nuclear war." The New York Times on why our perceptions of probability make us woefully under-prepared for existential threats (ourselves included). Much to my chagrin, you can't technically ride the entire NYC subway system in alphanumeric order (i.e., 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-A-B-C-D-E-...-Z) with a single metro card swipe (the lack of transfer between the G and J trains is what does you in, in case you were wondering). You can however, travel 154.6 miles in the system without ever doubling back on yourself with a single swipe, as this WNYC article explains. (Also, in case you were curious 154.6 miles is roughly the distance from New York to Baltimore.)

Tuesday, 8/27 The New York 3D Group hosts their first meetup at The World Bar, where participants can learn about 3D scanning technologies and even how to get a scan of themselves.
Wednesday, 8/28 The NY/NJ chapter of the Society for Conservation GIS are gathering for an informal chat over snacks and drinks. Come network with the organizing committee and other members of the chapter. If your map-minded data enthusiast like myself, they're always looking for volunteers, presenters, and suggestions for activities.
Wednesday, 8/28 The Hardware Startup meetup may not be having formal events over the summer, but that's not going to stop the community from getting together for their second happy hour of the season.
Tuesday & Wednesday, 9/3-4 If you've got some time to take a trip up to Cambridge, join the Harvard Biotech Club for their 20th anniversary Bridging the Gap symposium, annual Career Fair, or both. Students from all academic institutions are welcome and dozens of companies will be on hand for networking and recruiting.
Wednesday, 9/4 The Transit Techies meetup is back with all of your favorite transit-and-data-related projects. If you like trains, data science, and/or the view from Hudson Yards, I highly recommend you check out what is one of my favorite meetups.

Thursday, 9/5 Join Columbia Nano Labs for their annual Industry Day conference. Learn how you can use and leverage the Nano Labs facilities, hear from a panel of entrepreneurs who have done just that, and listen to faculty and technical experts discuss the way these sophisticated tools contribute to cutting-edge research.
Thursday, 9/5 The HAX hardware startup accelerator is journeying east from their usual haunts of San Francisco and Shenzen for a visit to New York to connect with the local hardware community with a special after-work hardware meetup and a night of socializing, drinks, and bites.
Friday 9/6 I'd like to say Nanotech NYC scheduled their next nanonite happy hour in honor of my birthday, but I don't think Jacob or the other organizers know when my birthday is! (Although they do now.) At any rate, NYC's nanotech community (practitioners and enthusiasts alike) will be getting together at Clinton Hall in east Midtown.

An electrical engineer with nanotech experience in academia and the photonics industry, Kendra is also a trained facilitator in mindfulness, sustainable design and social justice.
Thursday, 9/19 LiveIntent is hosting their first tech happy hour at their office in lower Manhattan. The event promises to be a great opportunity for New York tech professionals to network, share ideas, meet our team, and learn all about LiveIntent and how their re-imagining email. Tuesday, 9/24 Join GeoNYC and Doctors Without Borders for a special map-a-thon to fill in missing geospatial data for underserved regions in order to provide international and local NGOs and individuals with the data they need to better respond to crises.
