Thank you to everyone who tagged me! I'm sorry this is late. I've been working on it for days. It's really long.

I have 1 WIP: A Love That Bleeds and a Koschei x Eris fic that's not posted yet (but close to drafted).

4. What was your favorite thing you wrote?

I love all my babes equally, but I am most proud of Just Enough Light to Cast Shadows, which was my first fan fic, and a true labor of love.

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style?

Monster feels different from a lot that I've written. It's pre-cannon and examines Lucien and Eris's relationship, and is not ship-centered.

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception?

My Azris modern AU The Night Court Lounge really took me by the throat. It was supposed to be a slutty little spite fic and then it just took off. The boys caught feelings and I caught feelings. But I have @pippsmcgee to thank for hyping that story up. She was the brain child behind a big plot point, the pet names, and just talked me through positions and timing and what ifs... truly a gift.

7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!)

Hmmm... not sure? Maybe my Amarantha x OC fic? It's hard to write pre-canon stories, especially for a villain! A Love That Bleeds is pretty dark and touches upon themes of slavery, love and autonomy, and is different from much that I write. But I am so proud of it.

8. Who is an artist that inspired you?

There are too many talented artists to list. Here are a few: @nus4y who makes Azriel's skin literally glow and everything just screams passion. LOOK AT HIS BRILLIANCE on A03 (NSFW)

@queercontrarian never fails to surprise me. Their take on the Court fashions, hair styles, jewelry. So much diversity and representation. THIS is one of my all time favorites. THEEESAN.

@palomita-de-la-sangre whose style is so unique and gorgeous and raw. This is what I mean.

@seihdacalling is immensely talented! Her Eris and pups and JEL Eris? AND LOOK AT MITHRAS (my beloved OC).

@bloodyplunder whose work is so passionate and full of color and movement. LOOK at this! AND (NSFW) LOOK AT JEL CHAPTER 25 on AO3!

@fourteentrout is inspired and talented. And all around incredibly kind and supportive. Just brilliant. LOOK AT FIRE SPRITE ERIS

@laxibbeb creates characters' faces in a way that hold so much emotion. NESTA is a favorite, omg... and AZRIEL IN STIRRUPS.

@elleybug @chunkypossum @lucychanart (who made me a Tamsand believer. God, this one?) so many more...

9. Who is an author that inspired you?

There are SO many. First and foremost, @chunkypossum who welcomes new creators with so much warmth and support. Every single story. Every word is magical. @iftheshoef1tz is another legend who is so kind and warm and wickedly talented. Every single story is perfection. Will they adopt me as my Azris parents? Maybe. Congrats! It's a shoe-possum!

@the-darkestminds is truly someone I could write a book about. The emotions she brings out with her characters and words will leave you breathless. If you want to feel, read her stories. You will walk away so full of every emotion, but also with a newfound appreciation for each character. And @mistandmemories whose Eris is the funniest, most clever, most lovable in the biz. Her Azriel makes me laugh constantly. How you ask? Shenanigans. Windows, pants, awkward moments of self doubt and a precious inability to communicate. Go read it. The plots, the politics. The WIT. The decades of delicious edging. (It was several chapters but gods it felt like a lifetime).

These two have been writing their own multi-chapter fics beside me this year, and without their friendship and support, I probably wouldn't have finished. ILY!

@pippsmcgee will never be rid of me and my neurotic little paws. This one just looks at a story, a character, a scene, and says "you know what will make it even more (painful, sexy, exciting)?" And you better listen. But she also wrote a beautiful story about young Azriel that inspired me so much this year.

@shadowsandlint is full of talent-- Her prose is layered with meaning and flows so naturally. I can't put her stories down.

@zenkindoflove For her OC Alexius, who is my baby forever and ever. Creating an OC is gutsy and brave and takes so much talent. She's got it all. Also stunning world building and dialogues! And don't get me started on Elucien...

@talibunny30 For her depictions of young Nesta and her OC Boudica. She shows so much of Nesta's trauma in a thoughtful and honest way. I love it!

@neciebee whose writing is like poetry. Every time I read it I'm like, wait! Come back. Tell me more. I want... more? Gimme!

@witch-and-her-witcher whose fics are so magical. Her Nessian is my all time favorite. Nesta, Cassian, the Illyrian culture that she built for us. Just stunning.

@born-to-riot for VAMREN. But also sexy plots, hilarious shadows, and fluffy Azris moments we need.

@acourtofladydeath for writing pieces that challenge readers to sit with uncertainty-- gray characters and grief that lingers but also carry lessons and hope.

@secret-third-thing for such perfect storytelling-- every word matters and every image counts. The descriptions and details are exact, the settings are lush and imaginative. Also, Artaban.

10. Who is a new author you discovered?

@g00seg1rl who writes smut like a witch. A very sexy witch. @nus4y who is another sexy witch? Watch out for these two. @jolenes-library is so talented! Motorcycle Azris AU. Enough said. @buffy-vanserra whose prose is beautiful. Every word matters. @clockwork-ashes has so many lovely pieces I couldn't choose just one. @unanswered-stars for those damn letters. You know the ones. I'm still crying. @yanny-77 : Best Elain in the biz. And the Lip Ring.

11. Did you do any collaborations? How did it start?

@brunetterebel010 @mistandmemories and I wrote A Solstice Carol. It started as a lot of joking about Rhys being Scrooge. And it became a true passion project! @talibunny30 helped with brainstorming ideas and beta reading, and @fieldofdaisiies and @pippsmcgee beta read.

Also my partner in crime in all Azris fics: @pippsmcgee who talks me through plotting the political animal, asks the important questions, and twists the knife of angst. She keeps my eyeball obsession in check.

12. What accomplishments are you proudest of?

I'm most proud of Just Enough Light to Cast Shadows. It really is silly, but finishing it, right at the end of 2024, and looking back at all the new friends I've made along the way, and how it has touched other people just makes this year feel special.

Thank you so much to @pippsmcgee for helping me land that plane. And for being my very first comment, ever. When I saw you and @talibunny30 and @neciebee were reading, I felt legit. And to @mistandmemories and @the-darkestminds who were on this journey with me. It was so important to walk beside you during it all!

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year?

Write was brings you joy. Comparison is the thief of that joy. You can only write your own story, and it's ok if it's not for everyone. Because a story that is everyone's is probably no one's, you know? It will reach the people it needs to.

Outlines are important (for my process). They saved my ass so many times. And beta readers. And friends. And reader-readers. They all saved me too.

14. What is your advice?

Surround yourself with people who cheer you on. Be sure to support other creators. The community aspect of fandom is important. We're all just out here putting our hearts onto the screen and hitting Post.

15. What are your creative goals for 2025?

Finish A Love That Bleeds, Finish my Koschei x Eris fic, and start plotting out a longer Azris multi-chapter fic. It's a little seed right now, but one day soon...

Making desi aesthetics, pt. 1

So, me and @zeherili-ankhein were discussing about the lack of diversity in Indian aesthetics. Like, the in-general aesthetic for the brown crowd is "desi core", at leas the one that is extremely popular, and it just feels...generalized stuff? Like, chai, lehengas, bollywood films...?

Ofc, no hate to desicore, but I just feel that for a country as diverse as India, we should have more aesthetics, yk? So, I kinda made some basic aesthetics for girls, with the help of my sweetu santra @zeherili-ankhein , and I really, really wanna hear y'all's inputs in this.

The first is the Rajasthani aesthetic. Now this makes up a HUGEEE chunk of desi core, tbh. Like in clothing, it can include Lehengas, the typical Rajputi poshak, bandhani sarees etc, with rajasthani prints like gotapatti and all. For daily use, like, I think angarakha kurtis, paired with palazzos will look VERY nice. Dupattas with bandhani prints too. For a more modern look, pencil skirts and fitted jeans will look good, i think. With v-neck tops??? Also, boots.

This aesthetic was deep jewel colors, like ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green etc., with gold accents. Bold chunky jewelry + local Rajasthani jewelry will look very nice too. For makeup, I think bold kohl eyes and dark red/brown lipstick shades will be really pretty.

The second is inspired by the Mughal paintings. Dresses include flowy kurtis and dresses especially anarkalis, ghararas and shararas, and flowy dupattas. In modern dresses, flowy sundresses, heart-neck tops and long skirts will look so cute omg. Kurtis can be paired with palazzos. Traditional clothes can have zari work done. Also flats or block heels will look v v good.

This includes pastels shades, like various shades of pink, cream, ivory, blue, lavender, mint green, etc. In jewelry, I think silver and pearls will suit this aesthetic. This has a light makeup look, with blush plus light pink/nude lipstick shades.

Third is the Vrindavan aesthetic, this mostly focuses on Krishna. It is like, nature inspired, is prett fresh, and gives you the vibe of an old temple. Jewelry involving peacock and lotus motifs will suit very well, along with flower prints. The fabric is mostly cotton, and the colors include orange, yellow, lotus pink, soft blues, white etc.

This aesthetic is pretty relaxed, and as for dresses, I think loose kurtis, wide trousers, cardigans and crochet tops will look v cutu :> Accessories mein, simple sandals, hairbands, cute necklaces and tiny earrings will look so, so pretty. Also bangles and payals>>>>

The last one for this part is more inspired from the earth. It has more earthy tones, colors like deep reds, mustard yells, olive green, brown etc etc. Fabrics include cotton and khadi, and this aesthetic has a rustic and boho-ish vibe, i think. Prints are block prints (ily block prints uwu)

I think long coats would really suit this aesthetic? And idk why but TURTLENECKS TOO OMG. For jewelry, I think vintage and oxidized jewelry will look very good, especially nose pins.

What do you all think? I have four more aesthetics left, will post them in part 2, one is bollywood inspired, one is related to classical dance, one is more eastern indian (bengal-odisha) and then the last is south indian. This is js the basic draft I made of these aesthetics

i'd like to know your thoughts on how fae politics work in Prythian? like canon-wise? You seem like someone who could dissect ACOTAR worldbuilding. hope you have a good day! 🥰

Omg hi anon thanks for the question! I love thinking about fantasy poiltics and worldbuilding. I will say though, I might not be the best person to go to when discussing canon ACOTAR stuff lmao; when it comes to canon I'm like 😬ehhhhh😂😭 Besides the basics like the 7 High Lords and their powers as well as Rhysand's general relationship with the other Courts, we don't get a lot so we are left to fill in the pieces. And that's my favorite thing to do! Fill in peices, add or takes away pieces, saying fuck it and designing my own puzzle. Sooooo I am happy to share my headcanons that I come up with based off of logic as well as just vibes and "hey this would be cool".

Politics is a broad word but a few important details to discuss would be relationships, trade, gender roles, wealth disparity, and race. SO here's a little list of my ideas (and I do have a bit of a SJM critical rant so sorry lmao)

Race:

The lesser fae racism plays a "semi-significant" role in ACOTAR politics (I think it's lacking and only mentioned to give context to other stuff but whatever this is about headcanons). With what we see from Winter and Dawn in ACOWAR, I would say that these two Courts are the most accepting when it comes to the lesser fae. We have Kallias' diverse army as well as Thesan's Peregryn lover, who is the General of Dawn Court's army. Summer and Autumn are probably the most racist to the lesser fae, though Tarquin has been trying to make reforms in Summer. I feel like Spring was very bad when Tamlin's father was alive, but Tamlin made reforms when he became High Lord since we see lesser fae and High Fae alike during the Summer Solstice, the blue faerie came to Tamlin for help when he lost his wings, etc.

Relationships and Trade:

Autumn, Winter, Night, and Spring depending on the time are the most closed off from the rest of Prythian, which influences their relationships with the other courts. Autumn restricts the sale of smoekhounds outside of court, Night has their whole thing of being completely isolated from Prythian and only showing one side of themselves. Night Court very rarely gets goods outside of Night, which we see "often" in the series (SJM touches on it a bit but not much). And after UTM, Winter was careful in closing themselves off do to mistrust and attempting to heal.

There could be some courts that lead in tourism. Summer is the first one that comes to mind haha, and I feel like Day and Spring would be on that list too! Winter fae might travel to Autumn because the climate is warmer but also manageable, and the environment is so vibrant compared to Winter's cold white haha. The different Seasonal Court could have a burst of tourism on certain holidays: Spring could have a huge burst of tourism on Prythian's version of Valentine's Day and on the Spring Equinox, stuff like that.

It is so interesting to think about the trade agreements between the Courts and who has the most leverage when it comes to export / import. Autumn might have to most leverage since their main thing is produce (because of the harvest and all that), and Beron would probably love to use that to his advantage. Beron might restrict trade with certain courts based on pettiness and his dislike for their politics. Maybe he dislikes how Tarquin is supporting the lesser fae so he starts trade wars (huh sounds oddly familiar to a certain country's current leader...). Winter might have magic produce that can grow in the cold climate (I have a lot of headcanons for that) but maybe they depend on a lot of export since they might not be able to produce as much?

Day and Dawn's main product could be knowledge. Maybe it's common for fae to travel to these two courts for education, trade opportunities, medical assistance, etc. Dawn was described to be pretty unpopulated and with mostly small farming towns, so maybe Dawn isn't super wealthy compared to the other courts that produce tons are metals and gems and agriculture, but they make up for it with their knowledge and invention.

Gender Roles:

Gender and sexuality is almost impossible to talk about canonically because we genuinely don't get a ton...I feel like sexism might be common in Pyrthian due to the leaders being primarily male, but there's just this weird and annoying lack of...anything from a lot of the courts? Night is very sexist, given the treatment of females in the Hewn City, and same with Autumn. But Viviane played a role in the guard/army before, during, and after UTM, so it seems like females play important roles in politics in Winter. And same with Summer too because we see Cresseida kind of play important roles? She is Tarquin's close advisor, she's invloved in the army. There's this general sense of sexism that the main characters are trying to fight but also 🤷‍♀️ not really. Same with sexuality too, because Mor is hiding the fact that she's gay but we also see Tarquin and his male lover in an open relationship, Helion is very promiscuous and stereotypically bisexual. So how are the LGBTQ treated in Pyrthian besides this generic disappoval that's not really there for most of the time? It's really up to the discretion / imagination of the reader!😀😐

I went on a bit of a rant, I'm sorry about that 😂😭 I have a list of fun ACOTAR worldbuilding headcanons here, including primary exports for the different courts and stuff, and a list of lesser fae headcanons.

Omg I just saw you were part of the Narnia fandom and Ms Balls, thou art a woman of impeccable taste. Gun to your head, Lewis or Tolkien?

Hahaha no no, I wasn’t part of the fandom in a traditional sense aka I wasn’t on here, I just wrote a couple of fics for it in my mid teens because I really enjoy the books!

Also re your question, the choice would have been harder if Lewis stopped just before Horse and His Boy + The Last Battle lol. I absolutely adore all the other Narnia stories, and I read them at a way younger age than Tolkien so it would have been an easy choice…

… but till now I can remember the day 10 year old me finished reading the Calormen/Tash/Tashbaan storylines and the very slow unravelling of complete disgust in me — a non-religious child with Muslim and Jewish parents — at how these books, which had such depth even in their simplistic prose, did such a deliberately horrid, revolting, and frankly lazy portrayal of “the Muslim country” and “their demon god” that as much as I loved Narnia and still enjoy the other books, the memory of that first read means I’m frankly never going to put them in my faves list.

Like it’s not that I was an oversensitive child or even solely because of the mixed faith family thing, I was not even a very observant reader re diversity stuff, I was ten. Tolkien may have been a man of his time and there are tons of biases and stereotypes in LOTR but Calormen was just. Fucking mindblowing.

Like to me it went way, way past the general Genteel Orientalism of Tolkien and pals, and it was completely unnecessary — the rest of the narrative had a relatively simplistic style as its a kids book yet an empathetic set of morals, but the Calormen bits were so viciously visceral that little me was just like oh. Oh my god you specifically hate them, don’t you? Like you hate these people don’t you and then realising I was, technically, these people 🥲

Sorry about the extended answer lmao you can see I have a lot of thoughts but yeah, I’d pick Tolkien no matter how foundational Narnia was for me, not even because I hate it or whatever, it just makes me SAD!

I need to make a list of DR ideas

Like js imagine a DTI DR, not wit the lore but the main game play, the actual game. "Dress to impress" like js being a model and the drama of the competition, or just dressing up and befriending the other models, or both!

Like I can make a good outfit but I actually wanna see that on me. Ofc I'll be aged up bc I don't wanna be a MINOR, but ik I'll look good when I'm older.

And ofc the diversity, not just race, body types, voices, faces, styles, everything.

And merging that with other drs omg.. like imagine astrid (httyd) in dti. That would be amazing, ig you can add EVEN more clothing to fit everyone from whatever time period they're from.

OR instead of adding DRs onto that, just have people from different time periods in the DR.

I'm so cooking with this idea.

So...quick question. How would you rank each CC game in terms of character design? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Oh! Good question! Let me get some pictures, and I'll come back with my list!

1st place: Mysteries of The Past

I LOVE the character designs of MotP! It does an amazing job at replicating the style of the late 19th century, which it's supposed to be set in, and while some things aren't entirely period-accurate, I love it regardless! Also, the characters' physical appearances are detailed and unique, creating a large diversity among this season's cast.

Plus, Victorian Steampunk is one of my favourite styles (even if I don't wear it), so that's an added bonus for me!

2nd place: The Conspiracy

This season showcases how much Pretty Simple's character designs have improved since its release, as it brought back many S1 characters. The details in the designs are beautiful, and this is also when PS started trying more facial expressions and poses for the characters. This season is a perfect example of how character designs can be improved with practice, so it earned second place!

3rd place: Travel in Time

S6 gets third place thanks to how many different periods' styles it's replicated. We had Ancient Times, the 1960s, the Renaissance, the future, the Age of Sails (which I love pirates, so bonus!) and Medieval Asia. This season had so many unique styles within it that it's only fair it should be in the top three! I think the only reason it's not higher up is because it's shorter than the other seasons, and while I don't know if I would want it to go for 60-ish cases, it would have been interesting to see what other times we could have visited.

(I still think we should have visited MotP during S6, but that's an idea for another time, so I'll shut up about it for now!)

4th place: Supernatural Investigations

S7 gets fourth place, as I love seeing its take on different supernatural creatures. I am a HUGE fan of the paranormal and magic, so this season is right up my alley! While some designs could use improvements (*cough* the demons *cough*), I still like seeing all the different mythical creatures. Regardless of the things I would choose to change to improve some of the characters' designs, it did an excellent job making characters who are so different than what we see in other seasons.

5th place: Save The World

Save The World is when I feel that Criminal Case really started to branch out with its diversity in character designs. We visit so many countries throughout the seasons that it makes sense for the characters to reflect the differences between nationalities. I won't speak for how accurate some of the designs are for all of the nationalities featured in this season, but I think PS did a good job designing characters to represent each country. You can even see it among the Bureau since few members originate from the same country. Overall, StW has fantastic character designs, even if the following seasons have more details.

6th place: City of Romance

OMG! Who would have thought we'd ever see the day CoR DIDN'T come in last place on a list?! (At least I don't recall them ever not being in last place...)

Even if CoR failed horribly at being the final season of CC, the character designs are good. Some characters I like more than others, but overall, they have plenty of details without being overwhelming. Had CoR gotten the chance to be a full 30-case season, we might have seen more characters come back from past seasons and see the design improvements like we did in S5 and S6. Like I always say, CoR had the potential to be better than it was, but at least the character designs weren't a total flop!

7th place: Pacific Bay

(AnxietyFluffy, please forgive me for putting S2 so low on this list.😭)

While I enjoy PB's plot and characters, unfortunately, I had to put it so low on the list since, compared to other seasons, its character designs aren't as impressive to me. Mainly, it's because it's only the second game, so PS was still working on improving character designs. While I can see an improvement between S1 and S2, it's just not enough for me to put PB higher on the list. But, I still think PB did a good job creating diversity between districts, and while I will always question how the climates of these districts coexist, it was nice to see the differences reflected in the character designs.

8th place: Grimsborough

Last but certainly not least is Grimsborough! While it's nostalgic and the game introduced me to CC, sadly, its character designs showcase the fact that it's the first game. I would never say the designs are bad, but they're not as good as they were in the following seasons. There's something simplistic about the designs compared to feature seasons, but I still enjoy them. However, I am glad that PS started making the characters more detailed and unique in the following seasons, and I wish we could have seen more S1 characters come back in future seasons to see how much their designs could have improved.

I loved seeing how PS's character designs improved over the course of their 8 games while staying true to their CC style. I've always enjoyed the style and characters of this series, and it was fun to pick which ones I liked most! I'm sure others would put the seasons in a different order based on character designs, but I'll stand by my choices.

Any reccs for revisionist westerns?

omg i only just saw this ask, sorry !! but yeah, i've got lots of recommendations. revisionist westerns are incredibly diverse as a genre - some are comedic, some are very dark, some are more political or satirical thank others, so it rlly depends on what sort of film u want to watch. (also, a lot of classic revisionist westerns were created in the 1960s-80s and are quite outdated, so approach with caution!!)

anyway, here's my list:

the dollars trilogy. this trilogy is comprised of the good, the bad and the ugly, a fistful of dollars and for a few dollars more. these films are. so good!!! like. the hype is valid.

the wild bunch. all the main characters are absolutely horrible so if u like awful little guys. well.

butch cassidy and the sundance kid. sympathetic and well-rounded portrayals of outlaws, ppl who are normally reduced to stereotype in other westerns. also just a fun film

the man who shot liberty valence. i will confess i haven't actually watched this because. ugh. john wayne. but i hear its very good

the great silence. warning: very dark.

3:10 to yuma

the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford

these are all the less political revisionist westerns (although the great silence is quite a political film). in fact, the revisionist western genre is actually very politically motivated, and many films have anti-government and anti-war undertones, some more explicit than others, because they were created in response to the pro-colonial/pro-military messaging of traditional westerns, but a lot of these films are quite outdated now.

GALAXY BRAIN ASK STRIKED AGAIN!!! Today we will into what music/TV would be popular in each villages. Of course, each villages have diversity but just like in the real world, some things are more popular than others depending on the locations.

Are there any Music Charts/Billboard?: Each country has its chart system because each nation's taste varies a lot, hence why it is such an achievement to become relevant in a city or country outside of your own. It’s only recently that artists started going on real WORLD tours (if you exclude Itachi’s Fan meeting, you probably could count them on your hands’ fingers).

Regardless, Konoha holds the largest music festivals. The annual Summer Music-Fest assembles the most diverse cast of artists from around the world meanwhile the largest venue ever built is in Kumo (a stadium with 90,000+ of capacity)

For the first time, a world music awards ceremony was held in Kumo but it was heavily criticized for its favoritism towards bigger nations.

KONAHA’S MUSIC TASTE:

Konoha is insanely into celebrity culture. It was kinda established by Naruto and his grandiose accomplishments during past wars, where it further spread the concept of hero/celebrity/idol/person adored by a large crowd.

Taking after their beloved founder Hashirama Senju, Konoha loooves an unproblematic singer with a fiery personality leaning towards an upbeat musical style that appeals to masses.

When I say they love someone unproblematic, I mean it. It applies to most A-List celebrities, singers, actors & etc. Their PR team operates 24/7 at an unmatched level. Talking about politics or any controversial topics is heavily restricted, hence why those who build fandoms overseas escape the censorship and have their damage control team back them up no matter what happens. Itachi is the PERFECT example of this.

The village conserves its conservative mentality since it is way more comfortable with female performers. It’s that binary thinking where men are ninjas/at war and women are better perceived in “softer” careers.

Konoha loves bubble gum commercial pop, especially in a girl group format.

As the city evolved, you can see art academies opening to encourage the youth towards the world of entertainment (We are in a time of peace, so more career paths are available) but it’s not going to stop them from making concepts like a shinobi boy group.

Keeping their malpractice from the shinobi world, underage idols debuting in groups is not common but heavily normalized.

Konoha is a pioneer of the comedy genre in movies. The most recognizable comedy films, franchises, and actors are from the Country of Fire (Speed Hour is one of them) but IRL it would be something like 21 Jump Street and Freaky Friday.

Actions movies painting an “heroic” narrative. They are a sucker for ninja movies especially those reenacting past events with a shit load of misinformation like downplaying the violence or certain wars. NO! The victory was not as spectacular. Stop lying, please.

Puppy love Romance movies & Drama TV series (The Korean Drama type)

Night talk shows (like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) are really popular along with Konoha’s Saturday Night Live but got temporary cancelled after they clowned Gaara for being soft and a “born again” pacifist. Suna took them to court over the joke and the trial is ongoing. Really ironic, because all the “jokes” about the Tsuchikage’s height or men from Kiri being gang members with massive schlongs didn’t bother anyone… oh…ok.

KUMO-------------------------------------------------------

KUMO’S MUSIC TASTE:

Rap & Hip hop are the country’s musical pride since it sets them apart from other nations with their own billboard systems. They depends on other countries the least because they are musically self-sustained (compared to Konoha who constantly take in outside influences) and yes all these large venues fill themselves without outsiders.

MCing and 90’s style Rap is a style popularized by Killer Bee; he basically monopolizes the genre.

Soul & Disco remained popular since this music is associated with the Raikage’s generation.

If the beat is good, you have a chance but don’t go too far because permanent cancellation is a thing in Kumo.

Every year, many artists get together to make an end-of-the-year song under Killer Bee’s record label (Kanye West - All of the Light)

Kumo loves a female soloist, they go crazy over singers like Rihanna, Fergie, Missy Elliot, Doechii, Janet Jackson, Beyonce, SZA, Nicki Minaj, Chungha, etc…

Even if Killer Bee dominates the Rap scene, they would love male rappers like Kanye West and Busta Rhymes.

Contrary to popular belief, mumble and drill rap is not as popular as people make it out to be. It is subject to a lot of mockery in Kumo so most rappers using this style rely on their fandoms overseas.

The northern region of the Country of Lightning houses a whole different language and heritage. They tend to stay isolated from the rest of the population because the area is made of chains of massive mountains. They are distantly related to the Raikage’s lineage. They also carry their own unique cultural sound, who sometimes makes its way into the mainstream.

KUMO’S MOVIE/TV TASTE:

Reality TV is dominated by Kumo and Iwa. They are both sides of the same coin and produces the most known franchises in the world. Kumo focuses more on Drama among citizens, Music reality TV, Romance, and all the lives of the out-of-the-norm people in their country. Think of the entire TLC Channel, Big Brother, Real Housewives of Kumogakure, Bad Girls Club/Baddies, Courtroom Drama/Judge Judy

Reality TV about food (Master Chef & The Great Baking Show) and The Voice have editions in each large country except Kiri.

Drag Races are only in Konoha and Kumo because shows like these are illegal in Suna & Kiri and got canceled in Iwa.

Kumo, Konoha & Iwa hosted their annual seasons of Love Island with great success.

The movie scene in Kumo is pretty small compared to the rest of its entertainment industry. Unfortunately, it’s dominated by heroes and historical movies.

SUNA’S MUSIC TASTE:

Vocalists are prized in Suna. There’s nothing more acclaimed than an angelic voice. Think of Adele, Indila, Christina Aguilera & Jon Secada

Classical music is a dedicated art form. It’s no joke. The biggest classical theaters are in Suna. Those who desire to study various string and wind instruments travel to the Country of Wind where the best classical music teachers are located.

Suna’s club music is sooo underrated, some people (outsiders) believe it doesn’t even exist due to the prevalence of live performing bands and orchestras. It would be similar in style to artists like Nelly Furtado & Nyusha. Their electro music is extremely popular in clubs in Konoha and people have no idea it’s made by artists from the country of Wind. Yep, you guessed it. IRL it’s 90s-2000s Eurodance.

SUNA’S MOVIE/TV TASTE:

TV shows/drama series taking place in a huge mansion with dramatic transitions/character introductions are very popular

Going on that same point, movies about family drama/dysfunction are popular as well because many recognize their relatives in the characters or use this media to reprimand their family members (don’t be like ----- from ------ series). Suna is probably on their 20th season of Shameless.

A large part of the population has never traveled outside of the Country of Wind so documentaries about other nations are well-liked and sometimes used for propaganda.

For some reason, all of Suna’s TV is super duper HD but their national news broadcast has to be the lowest quality and cheapest setup known to man.

KIRI’S MUSIC TASTE:

Because of its diverse population, what’s popular depends on social class & ethnicity/clan. Due to environmental & economic circumstances, gang-related rap music grew in popularity. Tying back to the heavy influence of gang culture, it appears in music and fashion whether the group has criminal affiliations or not. The underground rap scene is very prolific and generated many iconic groups and soloists but is also associated with many violent tragedies

The rise of female singers revolutionized society as Kiri started promoting their unique expression of beauty & sexuality to the outside world. Unfortunately, the pressure to appeal to the male gaze is insane. It is still a male-dominated society in contrast to Kumo’s support (and admiration) of female independence and individual self-expression, in Kiri, female performers can catch hell for “covering too much”, and not wearing makeup and heels.

I’m telling you! Female singers have mastered the art of a catchy song with a saxophone riff+ vain lyrics = INSTANT HIT (basically 2009-2011 Alexandra Stan)

Vocal-based boybands are popular and attract mixed crowds. Many liked them for their trendy style, iconic songs, and success with the ladies. Most of these group sit in style close to groups like Aventura and Boyz II Men.

What’s funny is that for the longest, Kiri was stuck in the early 2000s, when it comes to style, fashion and media production. This is why until very recently, CDs were sold in jewel cases with the most devious album covers.

Artists like Minori Chihara are popular as well, again showing the country's diversity. Their popularity extends to certain regions/islands in the Country of Water but recently many have entered the mainstream giving a diverse sound to Kiri. Either more eccentric than what outsiders would expect or coming from ethnicities/clans previously underrepresented (Haku’s clan is one of them). Some examples are Charli XCX, Wednesday Campanella, Bad Bunny & Flower.

Because of the strong love/couple culture, most forms of partner dancing (and the music associated with them) are really popular. Of course, depending on the region of the country you reside in, but dances including slower movements dominate, a few examples would be Bachata & Kompa.

IWA’S MUSIC TASTE:

Rock is the most popular style of music. It is the most exported media after adventure movies. The genre has brought merit and fame to the Country of Eart and its one-of-a-kind rock festivals. There was a time when pop-punk/rock was dominating. It was in the same era that TAKA flourished, it would be groups like Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Billy Talent, Paramore, AFI, Hoobastank, etc.). This era was short-lived, and Iwa’s rock eventually returned to its more hardcore roots.

IWA’S MOVIE/TV TASTE:

Adventure/Action movies are filmed there and many popular franchises came out of it (think of Mad Max). These movies always climb to the top of the box office when they are released. (Deidara likes these because there are many explosions)

To rival Rock, Iwa has the largest indie music scene. Because of the lack of funding for anyone not filling the typical rock/metal mold, countless small groups and soloists from underfunded companies or self-employed are so many that they form a whole layer of the country’s music industry. I know groups/singers like Kllo, Cafuné, Glasperlenspiel, The Neighbourhood & JOY. would fit this description.

Iwa’s reality TV is more geared towards anything following celebrities' (& corn stars) lives, Any survival show in the wilderness, Married at first sight, Jersey Shore, Jackass, Real Houswives of Iwagakure.

OTO-------------------------------------------------------------------------

OTO’S MUSIC TASTE:

It is possible that you don’t understand the lyrics of any song because it is a melodic-driven music culture.

The most accomplished and elaborate sound technicians/producers come from there (previously associated with Orochimaru or not).

Because of the village’s association with Konoha, all artists/producers from Oto are popular in Konoha and operate in the Country of Fire.

Meanwhile in Oto, they have perfected the art of sounds, allowing a more intricate/complex musical sound to emerge both in EDM & other electro styles. Going from Yasutaka Nakata (Perfume & capsule) to more layered compositions from artists like Emawk, FKA Twigs

95% of the royalty-free music available online is made in Otogakure.

OTO’S MOVIE/TV TASTE:

AME’S MUSIC TASTE:

Ame produces many prolific DJs who range from the generic side of EDM to more eccentric and unique styles. It would be artists like Basshunter, Wolfgang Gartner, Skrillex, deadmaus5 & Rabbit Killer.

AME’S MOVIE/TV TASTE:

Ame produces the most gut-wrenching indie horror movie to see the light of day. Some get popular enough to get broadcast overseas (like The Ring type and even worse). In contrast to Konoha’s horror movies which are locally popular with the typical watered-down storyline. *Ears a strange sound in the attic. Picks up a flashlight to go check*

WOAH JES I am so excited for everything in your WIPS!!! omg, your brain is so sexy 😭🙏 okay first one on the list is ‘The Fall’! Can we please have some sneak peek or background from the fic 🫶 (I’ll be back to ask for more.)

I am stoked that you're asking about The Fall because it's my labour of love that incorporates some of my favourite things: my most beloved OM OCs; worldbuilding for the Celestial Realm and parts of the Devildom that the game canon completely ignores; and an angst-with-a-happy-ending love story because I'm such a sap.

In my OC canon, Metatron is a Seraph that lives in the Celestial Realm. Azra, formerly known as Azazel, is the owner of the Devildom night club The Fall who was Metatron's lover when he was still an angel.

The Fall is a hopeful re-telling of their star-crossed romance where they're both cast out of the Celestial Realm and how they adapt to life as demons. It's a bittersweet story with highs and lows when their relationship is constantly under strain from the various challenges and conflicts they face. It's also an exploration/critique of the culture/societal structure of the Celestial Realm and how difficult life in the Devildom used to be for fallen angels that didn't have the support/protection Lucifer and his brothers did.

The story has approximately thirty chapters planned (I may need to add more 💀) that spans four story arcs and an epilogue. Azra and Meta are the main characters along with other angel/demon OCs that help make the world more diverse/fleshed out. The canon cast also make an appearance, especially Lucifer, Michael, Solomon, Barbatos, and Diavolo.

My plan is to start posting once Part I (the Celestial Realm arc) is completely written.

OKAY, yes i listen to lots of bands, and as of recent i’ve found myself wanting to project the themes of these songs onto geto so baddd, because sometimes i’ll just be listening to a song and it’ll all just click into place and it’ll physically pain me to at least not sketch up something 😭😭😭 i have a list at this point full of songs for potential satosugu animatic thingies

I’D LOVE TO RECC YOU SOME BANDS!!! I lean towards indie/alt, grunge rock bands but i can get pretty diverse, so it all just depends on what you enjoy listening to. Bands like Modest Mouse and Built to Spill have been getting me through life recently.

Built to Spill always has magical fucking guitar riffs, and you can just tell the guitarist is having fun with it. “Keep it like a Secret” is currently my favorite album from them, with songs like “You Were Right” and “Carry the Zero” being some of my favorites. There’s this song from their album called “Perfect from Now On” that I’ve been closely relating to Geto a LOT called “I Would Hurt a Fly”. WARNING!!! about to geek out about the lyrics in relation to Geto.

No one else around even seems to be noticing

I Imagine “I can’t get that sound you make out of my head,” and so on would elude to the cultists all around them clapping as Geto enters the room, where Gojo stood there holding Riko in his arms. After the fact (post riko and toji and all that shit) I always loved the subtle details of something as inconsequential like rain pattering outside while he spoke to Yuki, sounding like clapping and then slowly shifting to the genuine sound of rainfall. Or that scene where he was taking a shower, contemplating his morality and reflecting on past events, the beads of water falling to the floor slowly shift into the sound of clapping. Like it’s all still constantly buzzing in his mind. Little details like that make me love Geto as a character and just how well written his descent into animosity was towards non-sorcerers.

He won’t take being complacent to jujutsu society, or consuming cursers and seeing his comrades die for these non-sorcerers for an answer anymore.

Anyways sorry for the ramble, but def check that band out! If rough sounding voices is a turn-off for you when it comes to songs then you might now fw them, but this is also the same for my next recc,

MODEST MOUSE!! fucking love this band, i will unapologetically say that “Interstate 8” is a masterpiece. They’re also very rough sounding, which personally i really enjoy. Plus the lyricism is nuts, i love how things are put, especially with “Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In”. It’s one of the more mellow songs, but then again i’d say that album is pretty mellow. I have “Edit the Sad Parts” right before in my playlist, and the song no joke has a couple of minutes of just absolute silence. And I won’t even notice music has stopped playing since I’m usually doing something while I listen, then “Whenever You Breathe Out, I Breathe In” will kick in and I’ll just feel the air punch out my lungs. Love that album so much.

There’s also this really underrated fucking band called “Stuck in the Sound”, I put their “Pursuit” album cover as one of Geto’s pins on his bag ❤️❤️ you might have seen the animation for their song “Let’s Go”, if you haven’t i HIGHLY recommend you watch it. The song SLAPS and got me hooked, I couldn’t stop watching the animation. “Let’s Go” is in the “Pursuit” album which houses some of my favorite songs from them such as “Criminal” which has such a nice sound to it, also a personal favorite “Silent and Sweet” which just hits different when you need a good cry. An all time favorite of mine is in their album “Nevermind the Living Dead” called “Toy Boy”. I used to just strum that song on my guitar til my fingers were sore all the time, it’s so nice to just scream that song out. I LOVE THIS BAND SM 10/10

Also been listening to Radiohead quite a bit recently, and “Black star” is about loving someone who’s mentally ill, I believe, and how you maybe be teetering along a fragile line constantly making sure another day passes by without any extreme conflict. And then the song depicts that person then separating from that love interest only to find themselves prone to the same emotional breakdowns. I thought the concept of that oddly fit well with satosugu if you think about how Geto defecting might have privately affected Gojo. I did a small animatic thing for that with Gojo after having to kill Geto!!!! I’ve mostly been listening to the album “The Bends”, has some hard hitters like “Just” or “Sulk”, I fw the guitar in “Planet Telex” a BUNCH. I ❤️ radiohead

ONE MORE I PROMISE. I’ve always been an all time Arctic Monkeys fan. Their discography is super diverse because they’ve been experimenting and changing a lot throughout the years!!! They go from garage band type rock, to alt rock, to pop, to lounge music type jazz?? I love each and every album. I used the song “Batphone” (personal favorite) for the most recent animatic thing I did, the guitar in it is so strong and cleverly inserted, i’ve always wanted to do something with that song. I started conceptualizing a storyboard with a song called “Secret Door” on their “Humbug” album (every song on there is a banger) that you saw on my instagram story (also an all time favorite)! I def recommend “Humbug”, “Favourite Worst Nightmare”, or “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not” if you want to delve into their rock stuff, but if you’re feeling experimental DEFINITELY check out “Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino”. The album is always super hated on but it’s probably one of my favorites, super underrated. You’ve probably heard songs from their “AM” album like “R U Mine?” or “Why’d You Only Ever Call Me When You’re High?” since they got pretty popular, so if you like a mesh of both pop and rocky elements, check that out too!!!

ANWAYS SORRY FOR SUCH A RAMBLE. TLDR: Arctic Monkeys, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, Radiohead and Stuck in the Sound is AWESOME!! give them a listen, i know i didn’t really even bring up any grunge bands like at all but Dinosaur Jr is really neat. Not in rotation rn, but the song Sludgefeast is magical.
