I was on my way from a long, Friday, morning meeting and all I was thinking about was going back to bed and never leaving it again. My week started with my car breaking down out of nowhere, then I got my period (which is not as bad when you think about it because it would be worse if I didn't get it), and then I had an actual meeting, in an actual office, with actual people (I usually work from home in my pajamas). 

I had to drive my boyfriend's car to the meeting downtown. I am glad that I could, but let me tell you one thing, my boyfriend's car is giant and to park this lady downtown I needed to leave 30 minutes early.

"oh fuck" I said to myself as I quickly did a U-turn before it was too late. Was it safe? No. Did everyone survive? Yes.

I totally forgot that I was supposed to pick up Chris from his own meeting since Matt couldn't because I had their car. I dialed Chrise's number.

"hi, ur okay?" he asked. 

"yes, I just might or might not forgot to pick you up so I'll be there in 15 okay? I'm sorry I had a rough morning..." 

"Bro no worries I'll pick up some coffee while I wait and you drive safe okay?" I smiled because wasn't he the best? He doesn't even drink coffee. 

"Okay I'll see you there"

I ended the call and typed Chris's location. It wasn't that bad with the traffic so I was there in less than 15 minutes. 

I was able to park where he was waiting so he got into the passenger seat and smiled at me while I started driving again. I really want to be home. 

"I would say good morning but I'll keep that to myself. Got you an americano and banana bread" He put my coffee in the cup holder and threw his backpack on the back seat. 

"Thank you, that's really sweet, I am literally half dead so that will help" I laughed and took a sip of my coffee. 

"I still think that my brother is dating a weirdo, how can you even drink it black and unsweetened?" Chris looks at me with a disgusted face. 

"You are all literally bunch of weirdos so I just matched the energy you know" I blinked at him and stopped on the red. 

"How was your meeting? New fresh love is gonna be fire. I got the drafts in my mail this morning. Did not change a thing. You and the team did great" I said and smiled at him. 

I was a graphic designer and helped Chris at the beginning of his brand, but I did not really want to work for him so I just help sometimes if it's needed. I am really happy that he still likes to know what I think about the projects tho. I also used to work for Laura but not anymore. That's basically how we all met. I quit after me and Matt started to be a thing. 

"I know right? Well, I knew you will love it. The meeting was great, we should be able to make everything work by the end of the month. And guess what... I actually got samples and I have a pink set for you kid" 

"Honestly... made my day, I am going to wear it for everything now" I laughed.

"Just don't post it yet" He said and started to click things on the car's screen.

"Just use my phone for music" I gave him my phone and he typed my code and put our favorite song by lil skies on. 

"Still can't believe I memorized Niall Horan's birthday just to get to your phone" 

I blinked at him and started rapping with the song. I loved make a toast. Music taste is probably one of the things that made my and Chris's bond strong. Don't get me wrong I love Nick as much as I do Chris, but he just always gets me and we were best friends since day one. The funny thing is that me and Matt did not really liked each other at first. 

The ride home made my mood better. We sang and laugh, I wasn't tired of my life that much anymore. I took my shoes off while holding all of my stuff. Matt was on the couch watching something while we made our way up the stairs. 

"Hi baby... How was it?" He asked as soon as he saw me.

"Crap, I am going to call Laura to take me back" I laughed and put my stuff on the table and went to wash my hands in the kitchen sink. I then walked up to Matt and just threw myself next to him to cuddle his side. 

He kissed my forehead and started to rub my back. 

"I am going to take a nice nap, you kids have fun but not too much" Chris waved at us and went back down the stairs to his room. 

Matt rolled his eyes and kissed my head again. 

"How about we do something nice together? Nick is going to come home with Madi soon, I think, and that means laud. We could go to that beach you like and just get food and watch the sunset later" He asked.

All I was thinking about was his cold hand on my back and how much I just loved that man. He knew exactly what I needed.

"Yes, please. I just need to change. I wore a bra man, can you believe this?" I sit back up. 

He laughed at me and shook his head. 

"Go then," He said patting my thigh. 

I went to put my new fresh love set in Matt's bedroom, used the bathroom and when I was ready we went out.

"Wow, so it's your car now, huh?" Matt started to change the mirrors and seat but he also raised his eyebrows looking at my stuff next to the shift gear. 

"Baby it's only essentials to drive, okay?" I smiled and got comfortable in the passenger seat. 

We drove to get food and dessert. The weather was perfect to just spend an entire afternoon on the beach. Boys did not have any work plans today so I knew Matt was all mine for the rest of the day.

We sat on the beach, had our food, and just talked or cuddled in comfortable silence. That's what I mostly love about spending time with Matt. We could just sit the whole day without a word and be alright with it, but also we could talk for hours and we would always have something to talk about.

"I love you Matty, thanks for taking me to the beach. This new project sucks but I know it's going to be better after that. I really needed just you today" 

I kissed his sweet lips. He tasted like the cherry Pepsi that we just had. He pulled me into his lap and slid his hands under my hoodie while he kissed me back. 

I rested my forehead on his as I pulled away and smiled. 

"Anything for my girl, I love you kid" He kissed my nose and I just wrapped myself around his body.

"I am not moving, you might as well carry me to your car like this" I said into his neck. 

He laughed at that and hugged me back.

"Or we can just stay here" He lay back down on the blanket. 

"I promised your brother that we are going to watch Criminal Minds with him tho" I said.

"Sometimes I just wish you and Chris weren't the same person y/n..." He joked and looked at his phone, holding it above my head.

"Let's go back after sunset in that case baby"

We did watch the sunset, my favorite part of the day. We came back home and spent time with his brothers as I had promised Chris. 

"Spend the night?" Matt whispered in my ear while the last episode for tonight ended. 

I smiled and nodded. I was off tomorrow and did not want him to drive me home that late anyway.

We said goodnight and went to his room. 

"I will go take a shower" I said and opened his drawer to take a pair of boxers and a T-shirt. 

"Go ahead, I went shopping while you were gone. I did restock your basket under the sink. I hope I did it right" He scratched his neck looking at me.

I had my stuff here, but I usually did the restock. Especially my period stuff under the sink.

"Matt...you did not have to do that, thank you, baby" I said pouting my lips.

"I wanted to, I want you to feel comfortable here. Not only you tho, all our girlfriends that come to our house. It's great that you did the basket and stuff" He smiled and I kissed his cheek.

"You are too sweet Matthew"

I went to the bathroom, when I was done he went to take a shower while I waited in his bed scrolling on TikTok.

When Matt came back from the bathroom I looked at him. He was wearing just his pajama pants. 

"Should I just say what all of the girls in my books would say? Matthew, you are such a tease" I wiggled my eyebrows at him.

"Oh my god, would you stop?" He got into bed laughing at what I said. 

"You love me for that" I put my phone on the nightstand and rested my head on his chest.

"Goodnight Matt" I closed my eyes.

He turned the lights off and tucked us in with the blanket. 

"Goodnight sweet girl" He kissed my head while I was already half asleep after this long day.

The best way to end the day is knowing that I will wake up in his arms the next morning.

Here's few things I uh idk. Maybe I can Ramble a bit

Not only does Poopypants own an ice cream trunk by himself, but he also owns an ice cream shop I believe. After giving up on his plan of getting rid of laughter he decided to own a shop a few days later and started gaining money from his work. Later on, Edith visits the place since it is Saturday and no staff members are in school due to a lack of faculty and security. And this is where they meet each other lol. However, Poopypants isn't good at comforting people because he never encountered a lunch lady in his job, especially if she's new there. He tried his best to listen and somehow became sorta neutral with her. They remain as friends tho- somehow she can recognize the trunk and visits him when it's free time.

The idea of him being part of the crew feels weird. It was originally supposed to be with Edith, Toilette, Jerry, and any staff, but if he was involved in the 1st parts of the AU, it would be strange and early for him to appear. I know I already said this a lot, but since the AU is so long, it has sequels or similar to the seasons compared to the original. His casual design isn't bad. It's just that it might be hard for him to be involved in something that he isn't part of, but still recognize the school and see how things have changed.

Forgot to mention he has a house em. I tried to use my imagination and wonder what would it look like if he had a house and had a lab somewhere hidden in there. Sometimes he watches the news. Sometimes he idk. Still in progress.

Removing the staff during the sleepover night (after a spooky presentation) seems like something a museum would totally do as a prank.

Peri has been onscreen for like 2 minutes and he's already sad inside.

Dev, I am begging you to make it clear to the audience what you're doing right now. This is not an apology. This is not close to what you said you were going to do earlier??

-> Confirmation Dev is Peri's first assignment, so my "high school trial run" lore hasn't been disproven yet. I can work with that in 'fic. We'll see if he says he's graduated.

-> I do have a fanfic set-up where he's going to do a trial program as Foop's partner when they're still in Spellementary, but I don't think this disproves that either since that's a very supervised experiment for him (It's their extracurricular).

I don't think I've said it, but I really enjoy the way this art style has been handling the hairstyles. These angles of Peri's swirl are really interesting.

Peri... Don't take this the wrong way, but if you can't handle Dev being mildly needy and pushy, you're not ready for the big leagues.

idk, Peri strikes me as WAY too overconfident. He showed up ready to go a couple episodes ago. This is the first time he's back onscreen, and this immediate crash on his end is just proof to me that his inexperienced little tail doesn't know what he's doing.

Peri is the guy who's super hype for kids because he thinks they'll be cute and fun, but he's unprepared for work and responsibility. I'm getting "Tries to avoid changing diapers and/or feels smug about how little housework he does" vibes.

-> What decade is he designed after? Cosmo was designed with 50s aesthetic and I feel like this is actually on-brand for attitudes during Peri's aesthetic parallel time period. lol.

-> It's not like Poof was doing the hard work of godparenting when he was a baby. This is new for him and probably different than he fondly remembers.

-> I looked it up and apparently suspenders made a comeback in the 1980s. I designed my teen Poof for the late 60s-early 70s (and he's my flower child), but it makes total sense that he'd be a little farther forward in time since Cosmo and Wanda weren't allowed to have kids for the first 10k years of their marriage.

- Yeah, I would look at this man and say he's giving me "macho 1980s breadwinner husband who has a fragile ego regarding his manliness and doesn't do his own laundry" energy. - Please tell me he started dating Goldie and she broke up with him because he's not good with stress and now he's clingy and wants her back; "He lost the pretty girl because he wouldn't pull his weight" would be the funniest possible direction to take their relationship - I might need to write a 'fic about Goldie showing up while Dev is out and she and Peri have a fight where he's groveling and begging and then Dev walks in and he's like "... Oh boy, I can't wait to have a business relationship with this guy."

Peri came to this party like "I grew up with Timmy Turner. My grandma teaches godparenting classes. I even did a trial run with Mrs. Crocker... I know the ropes! :)"

-> His crown did not know the ropes.

Diagnosed "would not take full custody in the divorce."

Peri, I cannot be any clearer that you can't behave this way around a neglected child right after establishing yourself as a trustworthy figure he can rely on. If this plot goes in the direction of Peri throwing in the towel (or snapping at Dev), I'm gonna crack up.

Like, at this point I am 100% expecting Peri to yell at Dev (maybe not this episode, but someday), and that's going to break this kid. I feel like Jorgen might get involved and separate them, unless Peri is desperate to "not have a failure on his record" or something (seeing as he seems embarrassed his parents know he's a godparent.

-> idk what's up with that yet. I'm genuinely confused. Peri, this is your first chance to see your parents since they dipped for 10k years. I can't get a read on your feelings. Are you angry? Did they invite you and you said No? How old were you? Did you grow up with Mama Cosma? Big Daddy? Boarding school? Inquiring minds need to know!

Maybe it's not been 10k years for him? Was he still existing in the slower-moving present day? Maybe Peri embarked on his own 10k-year trip? I'm puzzled.

-> I feeeeeeel like the time travel is a convenient plot device for the purpose of aging him up without jumping us forward to a more destroyed planet, and we're not going to get a straight answer about what happened with him, which is a shame.

Hmm. I suspect we're not going to delve into his backstory, but I'll hold out hope. Why throw that in there if you're not going to discuss it, though?

Did I miss something? Why does Dev think he doesn't need friends when earlier he wanted to talk to Hazel? Huh. I feel like there's a missing scene there. Hazel rejecting his attempt at an apology would've been helpful for me.

For some reason it's funny to me that the Tooth Fairy offered Peri a job, which he turned down. My brain immediately went Peri -> Cosmo is his dad -> Jorgen is Cosmo's distant relative but they refer to each other as cousins -> Tooth Fairy is Jorgen's wife. I wonder if they hung out together sometimes at like, extended family reunions or something.

-> von Strangles are big on family and Cosmo and Wanda kinda dipped out on theirs, so...

-> omfg, Mama Cosma is out there somewhere like that meme of the guy in the chair leaning over way far, head in her hands, because this is the 2nd time she lost her baby for 10k years. Left to get milk (Again).

He's so cute. I'm so glad to see him back in the series; I missed him so much. He's always been a favorite for me, which was largely based on my own 'fics, so it's really cool to see a character I love showing a wider range of personality onscreen.

HAZEL! If you weren't mad at Dev anymore, you should've told him! He's been miserable about you yelling at him without giving him a chance to share his side!!

I really do like their color scheme and vibes. I've always thought Poof was a good blend of his parents (Good blend of smart, clean, and on top of things while also getting into trouble, holding petty grudges, and making bad or dumb decisions). I'm happy to see him and it's cool to see their hair designs and colors together.

I'm glad "Certifiable Super Sitter" wasn't his swan song from the franchise. It's nice to see a deeper take on his character <3

I'm glad they're making an effort to balance Hazel's Dev interactions with Jasmine and Winn. I keep wondering if they'll get sidelined. This episode seems to be about them, though.

Immediate prediction: the possum mascot has been summoned to party with them and now she isn't going to let them leave. She'll get aggressive if they try.

Is she about to blindly follow and stick it in there like when they were swallowed by a bear and Cosmo suggested dipping it in stomach acid to measure how deep it was and it dissolved? And she just... did it?

Alya Cesaire (mlb rewrite)

[Note] Hey, hey! I wanted to start rewriting and designing miraculous for the fun of it. Please note that this is just for fun and giggles! I will try to keep the rewrite as close to the show as possible, at the same time I want to put as much of my ideas into it as I can. Also this is probably an angst au, because of my 3 am brainrot.

Alya Cesaire

Honestly I love her as a character, though she is a bit too supportive of the plans Marinette has and she still believes Lila? Like tf- But she is still cool in my book. I have to say, Marinette butted Aly into her love life herself, so I don't get why people think of Alya as annoying for being involved in Adrinette? Well enough of me yappin, let's get into the rewrite!

Backstory:

Look, I at first wasn't sure what to do with her. So I thought of her personality first! So uhh, Alya has a complicated relationship with Celebrities and rich people in my au. So I decided, why not make her grow up in a mega city? We had that in geography! In case you don't get what I mean, Mega cities are giant city's, which are known to grow hastily. Occasionally you can also have harsh disparities, like a bunch of rich people houses, but right around the corner you have the slums. (A bit exaggerated)

So I decided to choose Lagos as the city Alya grew up in? Idk still not sure, so that may change. But important ist, that Alya already learned early on life that life is unfair and that even if the rich see the poor every day, they'd rather spit on them than help. (Also a bit exaggerated)

So I decided that one of the reasons that Alya wants to become a journalist is to find all the dirt on the rich and shine light on things truthfully, regardless of what she mind find.

She is half french, half Nigerian and moved to France when she was 10, back then she didn't live in Paris.

She and her siblings enjoy the life on the country side, until their parents get a better job in Paris. She gets into a new class and meets Marinette who gets bullied by Chloe, but Alya wouldn't let that slide.

Personality (season 1-3):

Courios and nosy. She is intrested in everything around her and no information is safe from her. Fun fact, that becomes a problem when she meets lady bug, unlike in the original mlb, Alya views Lady Bug as a celebrity not worthy of privacy, under the eyes of "the people have right of knowing who you are."

Kind, nurturing and helpful. When Alya isn't in journalism mode, she is caring. She is Marinettes very first friend and views her as a younger sister. She is in general a good older sister, while she isn't the oldest she never once backed out of baby sitting the twins.

Confident and protective. She believes she needs to protect the weaker people. Which also the first reason why she protects Marinette from Chloe and even from Adrien, who she like Marinette dislikes at first. She comes to accept after a while, becoming one of his most trusted friends.

The voice of reason, but supportive. You might go like: "Do you seriously plan on using Alya just as a person to give advice to Marinette. " No, I do not. While yes Alya is the more mature person, she is also just a teenager. So Alya will still support a few of Marinettes ideas, but will call her out when she is batshit crazy. But another intresting thing, despite Alya hating rich people she will be the first to help Chloe! Why? You will see, you will see.

Alya as Rena Rouge

Unlike Marinette, Adrien and Chloe she is handed the miraculous. That means she is the only one who must return it after fighting, so her superhero persona can't really develop as much as it could.

But there are still some small changes.

Secretive, after realising what being behind the mask is like, she realises that her identity needs to be a secret. That means Rena rouge is the most secretive about her identity.

She is cunning. You need to professionally trick a villain? Don't worry, Rena's got your back. She is surprisingly creative with her ideas and occasionally even helps lady Bug with planning.

Personality (season 4-5)

Everyone has character development and Alya gets some too. She still wishes to become a journalist and expose secrets, but she is a bit more understanding of the people behind the mask for example.

Like everyone she too starts acting more like an adult during the end of the series, but that is just a part being a hero I'd say.

A lil treat, she will also become more distrusting. That means at the start of the series she is very social and all, until something happens that kinda destroys her world view on a few things.

I sadly can't really say more about my plans with her otherwise I'd spoil a lot of the ideas I have :(

I am really unsure about her hero design and her hair, but I really like her every day outfit for the sole reason she looks her age! She actually really likes fashion, kinda like Marinette does in a way of self expression, which doesn't stop her from grabbing the most comfortable thing she has in her stomach.

And I recently saw someone shared a quote from the affinity but sadly they don't specify which one and I don't remember if I already passed it. Let's start with latest man of the hour ,Sylus

Yes if u unlock sylus in main story you immediately jump from 1-4/5+ (depending whether u did the chat and then replied to his posts) immediately.

Reasons being - fighting with him ,getting cards so unlocking companion , chatting with him and interacting in posts.

I did all that as they designed a player to do and Got to 1-5

if you skip socials then it will be 1-4 jump.

For Zayne

He is the 3rd LI we meet in game ,And 2nd companion we unlock in destiny cafe after chapter 1

Mind you you can take a break after Chapter 1 with no one to rush you .

There's a [story] we get from him .

AND the BOND tutorial makes you do HIS bond as tutorials.

so with all that thing ,his affinity jump is very High overall in your first day of playing . But since everything happens After he is unlocked as companion you might be lucky to see the 💓1-> 💓2/3 and gradual progress if u don't do alotta stuff together because then the jump would be 2->6 ,8->13 due to catching up in affinity level .

but you can get 10-12+ affinity overnight if u are new player and you main him .

Same goes for Xavier .

You can unlock him BEFORE zayne in fact u can stop story midway where u didn't meet zayne and interact with Xavier .

Although he doesn't have the bond tutorial buff .

He is the face for the rest of tutorials ,name it Touching in destiny cafe ,Trial stages ,very first card u ever level up or equip Protocore to .

And you what comes with it? Affinity level up!!

Add choosing him in beginner standard banner.

Yeah..

you can get 10-12+ affinity overnight as a new player if u are new player and you main him .

For Rafayel

He is locked in Chapter 2.. a lot of new players makes the mistake of not finishing chapter 2 but pulling for him .resulting the delay of his affinity level up

This is kind of of a drama stirring ask, but I was reading your post on your favorite riders on the current grid and you mentioned that you became fond of all the 2019 rookies except one of them. I was just wondering if there is any specific reason for that? Not a fan or a hater of that one rider just unfortunately overly curious sometimes, feel free to ignore this ask if you do not feel comfortable answering it.

I also just wanted to mention that I love the way you described Fabio in that post as a sad Frenchie because I immediately pictured a sad French bulldog and somehow that felt completely fitting. And I also laughed so hard when I read the part about about how Joan looked like he was so scared that Marc was going to eat him.

My favorite part of the post though was when you were talking about Pecco's super up and down performance and wrote something like Ok you won. but? why? were? you? in 13th? to begin? with? I don't know if this was what you were going for but the disappointed, but not surprised scolding parent tone I got from it was immaculate. I really hope next year Pecco remembers he has a backbone because if the vibes at Ducati are not rancid what even it the point?

oh tbh there's no real story there!! idm answering but i also don't have a great answer... it's just which ones of them personally caught my eye. early 2019 was a time when i was gradually reestablishing friendly relations with my primary sport and watching motogp was just hoping for... well, not a complete changing of the guard, exactly, because i like marc a lot more than i do the dominant athletes in said other sport. but some competition, some tension. the dovi rivalry kinda felt like it had run its course at some point in 2018 when it became pretty clear dovi probably wasn't ever going to match his 2017 challenge, let alone go one step further. valentino was increasingly washed + the 2018 yamaha was so mediocre that a lot of his very respectable efforts felt like an exercise in futility - and the vinales experiment is one that i'd also given up on at some point that year. (kinda ironic given where yamaha's next champion came from but tennis fans will know what i mean when i say i always referred to vinales as having a case of 'french brain'. actually was worried fabio might have a severe case of french brain until he won the title.) i had basically zero hopes for honda!jorge panning out, like it was conceptually fun (as casey said, get out the popcorn) but also we'd literally just seen jorge take over a year to even begin to adapt to a bike that didn't seem quite as unfriendly as the honda. also, he'd been injured for much of late 2018... idk kinda felt his time was up

which is a pretty dire competitive picture. like the racing was still good, a lot better than it is now, but it was also... this isn't a marc thing, i'm just not really the type of person who can enjoy winning for winning's sake. i do need a story. it all felt a bit depressing, also interpersonally - marc/valentino continued to be the main source of tension but it also meant marc wasn't really doing anything interesting with anyone else on the grid. the dovi relationship is like... civil, but nothing more than that, so mainly it really is just marc giving the side of valentino's scalp a thorough examination once a week. not really the web of intricate interpersonal relations + conflict of the alien era, is it. or guys in the early to mid noughties actually LIKING each other and HANGING OUT and a bit more of an interesting dynamic because you feel like these blokes have actual relationships with each other. dovi/marc as a rivalry is practically designed to make me feel a bit morose and irritable... and dovi came across as a little too resigned to his fate, jorge/dovi teammates was also taken away from me, and it already felt pretty clear marc wasn't going to leave honda when his next contract expired. (not that i thought he'd sign for another FOUR YEARS, obviously that didn't go like anyone was expecting but i can't say i was particularly thrilled at that announcement.) i had a bit of hope for alex rins but also i hadn't really seen THAT much from him. zarco-caused narrative juice also felt like very much a 2017 thing. morbidelli pretty meh rookie season, iannone experiment felt over, miller experiment felt over... you get the spirit

and basically at this point i wasn't looking at the 2019 rookies primarily in terms of personality, it was literally just an evaluation of whether one of these bozos could please, please, please give marc a proper challenge. from those, pecco was obviously the immediately eye-catching one - had just put together an impressive moto2 campaign, then rocked up and had an excellent pre-season testing. i wasn't like... completely sold, because tennis-pilled brain does at a certain point make you think that unless you're already breaking lap records as a toddler, it's probably not going to pan out for you. but obviously i was theoretically interested in a valentino protege going up against marc, and pecco had built up enough positive credit in my bank that i was willing to forgive a lot in 2019. (muttering to myself 'casey crashed a lot too, casey crashed a lot too, casey crashed a lot too' every time a rookie is driving me insane.) mir had quite an eye-catching first ride on the suzuki iirc... also obviously had that moto3 title going for him. i vaguely remember injury eventually just sort of fucking him over in his rookie season? and quartararo... obviously wasn't REALLY on my radar, like I knew about the pre-moto3 resume which did actually play into my 'breaking lap records as a toddler' bias. but also obviously he was the standout that season, like he was properly exciting... and also just the little things, how frustrated he was after losing to marc or when marc was pissing about in sepang qualifying. made you hope we could get something going there. oliveira just went under the radar a bit for me,, like this wasn't entirely FAIR because given machinery differences i would defo say he had a better rookie season than pecco and had run pecco pretty close in 2018. but also i'd also been supporting pecco for the moto2 title the previous year lol, not with all THAT much investment but he was a fun kid idk. so sometimes you just get to a point where you get used to rooting against someone. generally you'll already have an opinion on blokes before they even get to motogp, right

and yeah, genuine affection for these guys developed the following years... i mean, fabio only REALLY got me in 2020 when i was watching him throw his title bid away. and mir grew on me ever more as the suzuki project went down the drain. bagnaia actually has this fantastic quality that allows me to root for him, where every time i go 'hm he's winning too much' he puts the fear of god back into me. like i had this moment during qatar this year where i was like... idk, come on. and then obviously he's taking me on such a great rollercoaster ride and by the end of the season i'd basically never been more invested. i actually have quite possibly the worst type of sports fan brain - runner-up brain. i root for people who come close to winning but can't quite make it. my history as a sports fan is littered with these second tier athletes you can be delusional about but will never actually make you happy. and what i've discovered following motogp is that apparently this even extends to liking the guys i like less when they're winning and more when they're losing. the problem with this is that it's a recipe to always being miserable, which. well. it is what it is. luckily i'm not THAT emotionally invested in motogp, like if i'm not enjoying it i can just stop watching for a while lol and i'll be free of it. it's not that serious

so that's it tbh!! i don't even particularly dislike oliveira - his luck has been abysmal with aprilia and i do feel quite sorry for him throughout all that. yamaha will do him well i reckon (might be a crazy thing to say but yamaha is my team and i have decided to sniff the #hopium, idk i think we might actually be cooking). there ARE some riders i root against, oliveira is not one of them. i feel decidedly neutral towards him. also whatever casey might think about portugal being a province of spain, it's always good to have an extra nationality on the grid. he seems like a bit of a character, like sometimes i see a quote from him that makes me raise an eyebrow and i like raising an eyebrow. but also... his profile of rider is 'guy who can do incredible things on his day but disappears for months at a time', which has just never been the type of athlete i go for. (i think this is actually the main reason, like it's an aggravating pattern of results to me personally that always makes me go 'maybe do this more often?????') i'm way more about the #grinders and the guys who worry away at getting better for years and years and still eventually come up short. anyway, glad you liked the descriptions of fabio and mir lol, apparently i really will bring up that mir clip at any excuse

on pecco, i DO stand by the gags i made in the post probably maybe,, but also i have adjusted a little in response to just how wild the discourse around him gets... like i don't see much of it anymore because i practise #contentcuration but i know it's out there!! ultimately the ways in which he's frustrating push all my buttons, and also (controversial opinion) i do think he actually cleaned up his act in some regards, just everyone's upped their level this year. it's partly the gp24 but jorge + pecco's qualifying record this year has genuinely been so impressive to me, like there's so many fp1's i half followed and went 'hm another q1 excursion for mr bagnaia do we think' before seeing he'd figured it out late in... what's it called now, practise? awful nomenclature. i also did not post this because at a certain point you just have to give up and move on, but i calculated the error rate of each title winner and runner-up this century (where 'error' is strictly defined as any crash that was not CLEARLY caused by an external factor, so racing incidents like with marquez x2 counted but not binder at jerez sprint)... and again. it's six for pecco from forty bloody races. divide that by two (even though twenty races still longer than most seasons historically) and you're already at a considerably less apocalyptic three, which you don't need to do any fancy calculations with to know isn't a historical aberration. what it comes out as is... fine. it's fine. both marc and valentino have won titles with a higher percentage rate of error (and even there you're sometimes being generous - counting casey's laguna 2008 misadventure as an error and not whatever tf marc was up to in argentina 2018 feels quite unfair, but you need clear criteria y'know)... it's just a narrative that has completely gotten away from reality and it's a bit annoying. i also think ultimately sometimes you are punished more for relatively minor missteps, like both marquez brother incidents are 60:40-ish things either way that pecco probably shouldn't have gotten himself involved in... but the punishment doesn't quite befit the crime. and jorge likewise sometimes just got a bit lucky, like marc crashing out right ahead of him in thailand and giving him the warning he needed. it's such a long season, all these things add up, and sometimes... sometimes things just shake out a certain way. pecco likely lost more than ten points cumulatively through incidents that were 100% not his fault, jorge put together an extremely impressive season on a satellite bike and is very deserving of the title. idk stuff like this is so completely pointless because you might as well be arguing with the wall, like people just enjoy a certain pecco narrative at this point and it's not going to change so. no point arguing about this any further. but that's where i stand on THAT

and yeah i feel like i was quite optimistic about next season like... halfway through the year, but tbh. i'm not feeling it at the minute. i mean i've barely thought about it, all the time i have available thinking about motogp has really just been about the old stuff. which is such a rich text that i'm never REALLY going to complain about motogp, like at the end of the day i do enjoy following it *as a sport* and it is just so extremely extremely unlikely that we ever get anything that lives up to the old stuff. did you know that one guy put a curse on another guy?? it's crazy. so yeah, whatever, it's a different landscape now. competitively i am a little worried we're in for '2018 but with worse racing', which is unfair to pecco - he's a better, more well-rounded rider than dovi ever was facing off against a different version of marc. but i kinda feel like you NEED a decent title fight in this era to sustain your interest, like i'm not tuning in for the racing am i. which was the case in 2017-19!! but unfortunately we're keeping the shitty michelin front for another year, which just means that it's going to be monumentally hard for those two to actually put on extended duel. it's not their FAULT, it's just the limitations of the current series. i do hope we're going to get *one* proper proper duel... but the problem with marc is that it also takes quite specific circumstances for that to even matter - either you need to repeatedly beat him to start fraying at his nerves (see mid-2019 pre-misano) or your name needs to be valentino rossi. otherwise he can mostly accept that the relentless pace will be what wins him the title and you have duels that feel quite disconnected from the storyline of the season, which was historically the problem with the marc/dovi duels. they're fun in the moment!! it's good racing!! but it's also a bit... you know, these duels don't necessarily all stick in the mind the same way because they don't each come with their own story. austria 2017 vs austria 2019 just aren't the same level of distinctive as brno 2003 vs brno 2005, right. i will say both proper marc/pecco duels, aragon 2021 and jerez 2024, have been distinctive and memorable and interesting - so we'll see!! you could be in for a great duel at *checks notes* mugello or assen, but that would mean pecco's probably in quite a lot of trouble that season... catalunya, jerez, qatar. those are the ones i am eyeing anyway

and the other bit of the equation is interpersonal tension, which i am also not super optimistic on. i will be a bit disappointed in both of them icl, but it does feel a bit like we're headed to... vaguely tense but also kinda muted coexistence. the problem is marc isn't going to engage with this stuff unless he absolutely has to, and pecco is so extremely committed to his stance that he wants to be a good sportsman, fair and respectful and all that shit. they're both extremely motivated to downplay any potential tension because marc's calculation is that, all other things remaining equal, he will beat pecco - and pecco just does not want the drama. unfortunately as we've already seen this year, people just cannot be normal about any tension between the two of them either, like it's just also not a media environment where guys can just say shit about each other. casey *probably* accused jorge of faking injuries severe enough they put jorge in a wheelchair back in the day, and i'm not saying that's GOOD or what we should be aiming for, but also can you imagine the equivalent outcry over something like that today?? (this is now the fifth unsolicited mention of casey in an ask response about current motogp, if anyone's counting.) and both pecco and marc are aware of that, and they also know that if they blink at each other wrong, some fans will completely lose their minds... it's just not really worth it. you always kinda hope the natural tension caused by being teammates will get something going... but yeah, idk man, sometimes you just need to be ready for disappointment. and pecco DOES need to actually challenge marc because otherwise obviously you're not getting any proper tension. literally no point in feuding if the competitive stakes aren't there, you need to be a real master of the craft to pull that sort of thing off

anyway that's all from me!! idm asks like this, i love talking about my opinions on stuff lol. we might be in for 1-2 quite disappointing seasons but hopefully the racing will get better again and the competitive picture a bit more lively. thing is i do LIKE 1v1 title fights in theory but i think then you do need a proper compelling interpersonal narrative to pull it off. otherwise the best ones are the 2006/2017 type free-for-all's. and obviously i still think pecco and marc have all the building blocks there for something fun, and individually i clearly care a lot about both of them... they're both just quite self-contained characters? they're never going to get close for obvious reasons but they also don't want to rock the boat too much. idk i feel like we might be missing a bit of an instigator in the jorge/valentino tradition, or someone who's casey-levels of tightly strung they make it easy to provoke them. which is obviously why i'm hoping pedro will eventually come through for me, though i'd prefer it if he weren't currently tied to bankruptcy enterprises. ah well, we'll see

I think my one complaint is that they cut Once in a Lifetime when it was ON THE SETLIST. That's one of my favorites of all time and I don't understand why they cut it unless it was for time. Calm Down was RIGHT THERE, guys!! Anyway, it was amazing and I had the best time, but I still prefer small venues. I've gotten spoiled to being at barricade or barrier and not being super close to them makes the experience so much different.

minus the 2 points about "dryly macabre" fatalism and "will say out loud what everyone else was thinking" (he tends to hide what he thinks), i say every other sentence really, REALLY with what maruki is like (shibusawa even calling him the most stubborn man in the world).

he's deeply workaholic, will NOT stray from the path he has in mind, and only opened up to why he was really doing all of this to joker in rank 9 (slow to trust). deep down he knew his dream was out of reach but still tried anyways..... not to mention we had like 5 separate bossfight phases around 1) his mind being very difficult to change, and 2) trouble admitting he's mistaken and upset. "strictly monogamous & fiercely devoted" is a given, thinking about anybody besides rumi is impossible for him

"rebellion is in their blood" might seem a lil weird at first glance considering he's closer to *imposing* some kinda dictatorship over toppling one, but it just reminds me how from his POV he's "rebelling" against the cruelties deemed acceptable by society (enough to manifest a rebellion outfit like the rest of the PT in the metaverse)

"constantly look towards the future & analyze the past" is also very prevalent with his lofty plans for utopia and his treasure literally being the newspaper of rumi's parents dying (he cannot get over the past, it infests his every thought). throughout his confidant it's incredible how often his insecurities are quickly covered up with self-deprecation, tangents about work, etc. (again, so many screenshots but they aren't worth the length lol)

and of course the "one true path he sees" amongst all the wrong ones is the path he tries to impose on everyone else! at the end of the day hope is 10/10 his aspect i gotta agree tho, absolute bang-on. and since i'm frankly horrendous at designating classes i think whatever u said about sylph probably works??? he's definitely likely to botch up whatever healing he tries to do tho, so rip him i guess lmao

I totally see where you're coming from tbh. Personally, it didn't feel right making any of the thieves any higher on the hemospectrum than Haru being an indigo, as being a highblood comes with a certain degree of social power, even if the system still oppresses them in some way. While I still believe Maruki is jade, him being purple makes an equal amount of sense given your explanation. You could even go further by stating his minor rewriting of cognitions early on could be a form of reverse chucklevoodoos. The more I think about it, the more purple maruki seems like a reverse dirk strider to me, which is as horrifying as it is hilarious. It could really go either way, but if I were to write a session, I'd still probably keep maruki as a middle-of-the road jadeblood.

Mecha hesitated for a moment before processing the suggestion. It slowly sat down on the seat opposite its creator, moving with the precise yet clunky grace of a newly-built machine. Then, it responded with its usual flat tone. "The designation that pertains to me is of no interest. It has little bearing on my function nor my efficiency. Refer to me as you wish."

"Mecha it is then. Mecha, do you remember me?"

Mecha gave a single nod of affirmation. "Certainly, doctor. It has been thirty six hours since our last exchange. My memory capacity is currently," it paused, its tone of voice defaulting to a pre-recorded setting, "one hundred and two hours."

Eggman grinned at the news - it was a steady improvement and exactly what he wanted to hear. "That's much better than yesterday. Do you know why I'm speaking to you today, Mecha?"

"Indeed. You wish to address me on the subject of my efficiency." Mecha answered matter-of-factly.

"Pardon?" Eggman tilted his head just a little, conveying confusion.

Mecha took note of that social signal and logged it diligently. Then, it focused on responding verbally. "Efficiency, doctor. It is the Eggman Empire's highest priority. Without high efficiency, the Empire is not self-sufficient enough to fulfill its goals."

"An astute deduction."

"Perhaps. However, there is an evident pattern in our exchanges. When you address me, it is often for the same reason. You have come to identify if my operations are normal, if any changes have occurred in my code, and to assess the risks I may pose to the interests of the Eggman Empire."

"Outstanding analysis. Now, Mecha, I need to ask you some questions. Just answer them as best as you can, if you don't know the answer, that's fine."

"Of course, doctor. Present your queries and I shall answer to the best of my capabilities."

Eggman started with something that sounded easy to him, but perhaps confusing to the days-old AI before him. "Alright. So... are you enjoying your time here? Do you enjoy your current work?" He cringed the slightest bit at his choice of leading question, realizing it might turn the cogs in Mecha's mind a little too much. He was still wary of overworking Mecha’s AI chip at this point, for it was still very new and developing.

Fortunately, Mecha answered simply and honestly. "I neither enjoy nor dislike my work, rather, I merely excel at specific tasks. I do excel at my work in this base, according to my current list of tasks. All of my tasks have been completed for today. In addition, they were completed seventeen percent faster than yesterday."

"Well, I'll call that happiness for you then." Eggman cleared his throat briefly and leaned forward, clasping his hands on the table. "Now, Mecha, tell me about... humans."

Mecha took a long pause, very clearly processing something that didn't make sense to it. "That is not a valid query, doctor. Rather, that is an open statement. Would you prefer me to speak freely on my knowledge of the subject, or do you possess a specific query."

"Erm- yes. That's fine, just go on. Sorry for the confusion."

"You need not apologize. Humans are bipedal, diurnal, highly social creatures with complex social structures and methods of communication. Humans are omnivorous beings that are capable of consuming a wide variety of animal and plant material. Despite these adaptations, they are... fragile, and require extensive guidance. Most members of the species do not compare to your own intelligence."

"You flatter me, my boy. The others can be stupid, sure - but they are alive, and many living things are just... less intelligent. So, are you a living entity, Mecha?"

"I am entirely artificial, doctor. I am not alive in any sense. I am incapable of experiencing death, nor fear, sadness, or happiness. From my analysis, an ability to experience the end of life, as well as a range of primitive emotion, is what separates many species, particularly mammalian ones, from inorganic creatures. However, there is a swathe of other creatures that are primitive in both function and biology. These, too, are living."

Dropping his earlier worries, Eggman proceeded down this line of conversation. The AI’s abilities were fascinating to witness in action, and he wanted to know more. "I see, I see. Does being inorganic validate your existence somehow?"

Mecha mirrored the body language of its creator perfectly, tilting its head to one side. "I have not investigated this line of self-exploration as of yet. However, I indeed have a query for you, perhaps to aid me in this discovery. If one was to map the brain of an animal, perhaps a Flicky, and you proceeded to feed these variables into a machine that can perfectly execute this primitive behaviour, what would differentiate this new existence from the original being? Is this artificial existence, too, a Flicky?"

Eggman scratched his head. "No, it's... a machine. But, I guess- is this hypothetical Flicky conscious? Can it feel?"

"Is an artificial intelligence conscious in the same manner as a typical organic creature? How does one quantify the experience?"

"It depends, Mecha. Things are advancing in this field, and you... you're the pinnacle of our efforts. But I doubt this Flicky is the exact same as the original. Like you said, you can’t quantify the feeling. We can’t know for sure, not yet at least."

An confusing response that did not answer the AI’s question fully. Mecha would need to delve into this topic in its free time, if it could dedicate enough processing space towards it. It logged this for further investigation.

(If only it knew it would get the answer straight from its brothers a year from now. Its brothers were alive, just not conventionally.)

After processing that, Mecha gave a single nod. "Indeed. Therefore, based on current understanding, I am not a living being. I am separate from the organic experience. However, you refer to this unit as... a hedgehog, as well as a ‘boy’, in your terms. Perhaps this is because you desire a social connection with units such as myself by assigning them an organic label. As I said prior, refer to me as you wish. This is merely an observation."

"My machines are like family to me, Mecha. Of course I'm going to give them names, treat them like anyone else- within reason, of course. I mean, I do create them to kill and- and risk having them destroyed. It's why I make so many, you know?"

Mecha took pause. "This, doctor, is inefficiency in action. You require these machines for the greater good of the Empire. To expend time and resources on social bonding with them, when they often cannot reciprocate in any capacity, is... inefficient. You do not attempt to bond with me in the same manner that humans bond with other humans, yet you appear to make greater efforts to speak with me than your other machines. I do not understand your choice. It is paradoxical to me."

"Does it bother you, Mecha?"

Mecha paused, rolling that word around in its head thoughtfully. "Bother me... I do not understand. Please, rephrase your query."

"If someone kept treating me differently to other people, I'd be angry. Maybe alienated?”

Mecha spoke without pause. "This is because you are human, and thus, inherently short-sighted."

"How is that short-sighted? It's justifiable." Eggman asked shortly. He seemed taken aback, and Mecha fell silent for a long moment.

"It is a statement based on my current analysis. Is this form of analysis offensive to humans, or is this statement excessively generalized in a manner that causes you anger?"

"It's offensive to call all of us short-sighted." Eggman replied, at first a little gruffly, but he quickly softened back up. Of course, a machine as young as Mecha wouldn't understand social norms or cues yet. It meant no harm. "It's alright. Statements like that are generalized. I know you're a killing machine, but you don't need to be rude about humans whilst you're at it. I created you, after all."

"Forgive me, doctor. I do not wish to offend, for this would lower repoire and thus decrease our working efficiency. Allow me to rephrase. I will first re-state that your intelligence is advanced compared to other beings of your species. Now, for one to be... angered, if I use the term correctly, by the actions of others, one is unable to process expected results effectively ahead of time. This is because humans are seldom granted the foresight of quantitative and qualitative analysis. It is unnecessary for an artificial intelligence such as myself to experience these primitive emotions, for I already know the outcomes of any task I endeavour to complete."

"Fascinating. Mecha, your use of words just gets better and better. I'm proud of the work I've done on you." Eggman reached over and patted the hedgehog-series on the head. It did not react, typical of it right now.

"Advancement, upgrades, adaptation. These are concepts that I believe are familiar to artificial intelligences such as myself." Mecha affirmed its creator's statement, completely without pride for itself. It could not feel pride, nor satisfaction. These were mere observations, or perhaps more accurately, data. However, I note that you used the term 'better', which suggests a past or present shortcoming. Recount to me any perceived failures I may have encountered so that I may maximize my efficiency."

"No, no, you haven't failed. In fact, you're doing great. So, I want to talk to you about new opportunities. New responsibilities, if you will." (He just hoped it wasn’t too early. And it was. Mecha was doomed to fail, too young to understand the world outside of the databanks it clung to for information. Intelligent but just a child.)

Mecha sat upright, awaiting its orders. It had already opened its internal logs to record the new task. "State your proposition. I will log it for a thorough analysis and will state whether I am functional enough for the endeavour."

"You know why you were created, don't you?"

Mecha took a long pause before speaking. Its voice quickly defaulted to its original monotone, pre-recorded setting. "Priority one: hedgehog. Priority two: serve the Eggman Empire."

"Perfect. Now, Mecha... I think it's time you started on priority one. The longer we wait, the more chance there is to fail."

"This is the optimum decision for maximizing the effiency of the Eggman Empire. The hedgehog must be eliminated as soon as possible."

"Exactly. As part of this, I have an experiment for you. It’s not an easy one, I’ll admit. But I have faith in you."

Mecha tilted its head quizzically. In response, Eggman took a red emerald from his pocket and gingerly placed it on the table before his creation. Mecha's gaze fell down to the emerald, quickly scanning it and taking in everything it could about the unusual object. It radiated strong energy - Chaos energy, from what Mecha could decipher. A quick search of the Empire's databanks informed it that this object was extremely powerful, and this power could be harnessed. Mecha swiftly put two and two together and, decidedly, it looked up to Eggman for further instruction.

"This is your new task. I want you to learn Chaos Control. Report back to me when you've mastered it."

(It would dedicate days upon days pushing itself to the limit. Completing the task was the main priority, regardless of the damage it caused. Indeed, it completed the task. Yet, no amount of textbook efficiency would save it from failure in the field against priority one.)

"Affirmative, doctor. I shall proceed at once. You may expect a comprehensive report in approximately five days."

“Perfect. End of interview C with hedgehog-series model 1.”

(It completed its task and was left to rust when it failed priority one. A failure just like the prototypes before it. The novelty of its intelligence would wear off after that.)

Day 9: Past

This challenge is making me realize i barely have characters, just pretty designs LOL.

Was only able to do some sketches today of what these two might look like/do in the future.

I wrote two pages about their future. And its pretty confusing, their story line isn't pinned down yet. So I imagine their stories ending in two different ways. Either dramatic death by police "Everybody dies" ending. Or the good ending, they live in a cabin in the woods together for the rest of their days.

I'll talk about the change in their looks first. Jeremiah finds confidence in his vampire identity, he shaves his snake tendrils, he's not afraid to show off his vampire ears. He gains a little bit of weight, grows an inch or two. I really like his jet black eyes, but I'm not too sure about the vampire lore in this universe, so his eyes could also be a fun color like purple or some. He's gotta have a face scar from their adventures i just don't know where, hehe. As for jack, I'm still unsure whether he's a natural blonde, or if he dyes his hair blonde so he doesn't look like his father. Either he dyes his hair black, or he lets his natural brown hair grow out. He also has a little stubble, because again he's less afraid of looking like his father. Another thing I'm unsure about in his design is his lip ring, hes supposed to be this macho guy so I don't think he could justify the lip ring. He also has a lot of punk influence though, so maybe thats how he justifies it? Its not gay because its cool and edgy punk. But maybe he gets one at the end of the story. IDK!!! see what i mean when I saw i barely have ocs LMAO nothing is figured out with these two and Ive had them for like 2 and half years now.

I explored the cabin option, bc i love my gay boys and want them happy. They live in this nice isolated cabin, since Jeremiah is the son of the vampire ruler they are living on the border of human land and vampire territory. Jeremiah probably gets delivers of blood from his father, and his father is the one who gave them the cabin. They've adopted three cats, more so jack adopted three cats. I drew up the cats designs, they would have 2 black cats, and one calico. They have batty, who is deaf but has huge ears. Hubert who is older and really beat up. He is missing an eye and an ear. Hubert's like the ring leader of the kitty trio. And then lily who is missing a leg. Jack is reconciling his past by taking care of these messed up creatures. He feels reflected in them, they are broken but he loves and takes care of them. Hubert is his favorite, he has a really rumbling purr.

I imagine their relationship is much better then the early years, falling into a dynamic thats good for the both of them. No more fighting and trying to kill each other, just a symbiotic relationship of Jeremiah drinking jacks blood and jack eating Jeremiah's arms occasionally LOL. Thats what I'm really struggling with, how do u give a happy ending to a delusional psycho cannibal. Jeremiah is very motherly to jack near the end, holds him a lot, kissed his fore head. They've almost switched power dynamics, jack no longer being the lead in the relationship.

I think jack has started to make peace with his homosexuality, he would never say it aloud, but his internal voices have reached an understanding. And by starting the process of dealing with that internalized hatred, he's opened the flood gates to processing all the traumas he been through. I think it would be SO funny if he saw a zoom therapist from their cabin, to understand his childhood trauma. He never tells the therapist about the murders, he still a vigilante about being caught by authorities. Jack spends a lot of time in the woods building those strange forest sculptures. He just spends hours everyday, in pure silence collecting sticks and assembling these huge sculptures. He's stopped popping pills and drinking, but still smokes pretty heavily. He's depressed because he's realizing what he's done to the peoples he's killed. I feel like he wouldn't feel bad about all of them, he still believes he had a right to kill the old men. He doesn't feel bad for the hooker, but the random kid, and the gay men he murdered. His father hurt him and his family so bad, and he's realizing that he wasn't taking power back from the universe he was just doing the exact same thing his father was. Jeremiah keeps him as stable as he can, but he breaks down a couple times, probably tries to commit. Probably tries to turn himself in. But Jeremiah doesn't let him. The story of the cannibal killer stays in news for a long time after. The police are still looking for the culprit. Jack tries not to watch the news, but he does. When he sees the family members talking about how much they want to find the bodies of their loved ones,, he cant handle it. He donates so much money to gofundmes for these familys. I feel like this is such a downer end to their story tho, so its still being work shopped. Like these two boys go on this epic coming of age story, and it ends with major depression hello. I think they could also both just stay delusional and murderous together, and like hunt down the occasional hiker. But IDK.

They still be kissin n shit, they are probably super comfortable with each other since they've spent so much time together. I think it would also be interesting if jack becomes sort of a famous sculpture, and in his old age reveals that he was the cannibal killer. He gets taken into custody, but they don't have any evidence to prove that he he truly is and he gets let go. A homosexual famous sculpture claims he was the cannibal killer from 30 years ago. Jeremiah doesn't age obviously becauses he a vampire. I don't really care about their story after this, I dont want to think about them growing old together and jack eventually dying. That is just sad and uninteresting!

Watching Stuff Day 6 - 7/12/2023 - Current Streak: 6

For today's thing I watched, I decided to watch the first episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender. I think it did a really effective job at setting up its characters and intrigue for the plot in a mostly natural way. There was a small exposition dump at the beginning, but I think it was actually handled pretty well itself. It wasn't all that complex and just helped catch the viewer up on the rules of this world. The episode does a lot to draw the viewers interest by explaining the lore and world building, establishing mystery with the situation Aang is in, and ending on the cliff-hanger of Zuko locating Aang and village, putting it in danger. It was able to show all that at a good pace and make all of the events seemingly flow naturally.

I think it handled its humor pretty well too, considering it isn't the main focus of the show. I did find it funny how Sokka did nothing but be wrong and take Ls the entire time. If it had been any other character, I would've felt a bit bad for them. But they established early on that Sokka's a bit of an ass, so it all worked. Definitely shows that the writer's are aware of how they're writing him. When they first had him say something sexist, I was afraid it wasn't going to be addressed since it's an early 2000s Nick show and I felt like they might let that kind of thing fly, but then they had Katara immediately call him out on it and my faith in the writers was restored. I'm guessing this aspect of Sokka's character changes later on though since I've heard he's a lot of people's favorite. I do think the show has done a good job of balancing and establishing characters and dynamics so far. Aang's a fun loving guy trying to stay optimistic in a bad situation. Katara's burdened with a large amount of responsibility, but is still looking to grow and reach her full potential as a bender. Sokka's a bit of an ass but is still looking to protect his village and sister in his own way. Zuko has a one track mind for getting stronger and capturing the Avatar/Aang because of his personal honor. And Iroh just wants Zuko to take better care of himself, chill a bit, and patiently learn. Overall, each character was given decently established traits and depth to build upon as things go on.

Visually, I really like the character and animal designs, and I think the artstyle suits them well. The animation was a bit choppy at points though, but that makes sense considering this was a weekly kids show before it got big. They probably didn't have too big of a budget starting out. They did seem to prioritize animating the bending/mystical aspects when they appeared. I'd say this was probably the right call, you'd want the magical elements that are one of the main selling points to feel magical visually and animate smoothly.

I think it was really solid pilot and I'll probably watch more considering the reputation it has. Maybe I'll do an update post when I finish it, idk.

The kitty seems to be doing fine post-op. Zero issues at the vet, he's been a quiet, polite model patient every time, and he didn't seem upset nor in pain afterwards (idk how long the painkiller shot was supposed to last?), compared with the vaccine shots that made him feel noticeably unwell. He was eager to get on with his usual activities despite the sedatives taking a while to wear off, and doesn't seem less active or otherwise behaving any differently. The litterbox might be a bit less smelly. Idk.

I wasn't planning to do much else with the weekend than look after the cat anyway, so the cleaning, laundry, etc. I did do was a bonus. It's not ideal that I've ignored work again, but ngl, have felt extremely unfocused even by my own standard. Longish day at the office with an early start tomorrow though. Ew.

Received the H&M Home and Momox orders; I really like the Högl heels (beige suede pumps, bone-simple and classic) and feel they fill a gap in my wardrobe, but they are also brand new and need breaking in. The strappy red sandals, however, are beautiful but don't fit (too narrow), and neither do the also beautiful, neat Hugo Boss trousers (the labels have been removed, so idk what the actual size is, went with the waist measurement but the waist is much lower than I expected, and there's no way they'll accommodate my hips, sadly). So yeah, more returns. And, to double down on being unreasonable, since I seem to have exhausted what Momox has to offer for the time being, and have noticed some changes in their pricing (it used to be easy to find astoundingly good deals on designer items there, but suddenly I'm seeing prices to the north of 200 and 300 €, whereas before only the absolutely premium stuff used to be over 100), I went looking elsewhere, and placed an order on Sellpy. Well, they had a pristine Ballantyne cashmere cardigan in a classic camel colour for about a 10th of the retail price, plus a number of other good finds for very low prices, and a first-order discount. Ehh.

Still no luck with nice flats for the summer.
